I first found out about Maria's because my company always orders their birthday cakes from here, and I've been really pleased with most of what I've tried. Some of the cakes that I have tried include: a.) Chocolate layer cake with fresh strawberries- This one is amazing and seems to be a favorite around the office. I love the dark rich, chocolate frosting and the fluffy chocolate cake. The fresh strawberries are a nice touch. b.) Fruit custard cake: This cake has fluffy white vanilla cake on the bottom and creamy vanilla custard layered over the top and finishes with a layer of fresh fruit on top. It's my favorite because it is not overly sweet, and it reminds me of one of my favorite desserts in Japan that was basically the same thing that came from a shop called Mario Dessert. This one is usually not pre-made because it doesn't keep too long with the fresh fruit, so you need to call and order it. c.) Chocolate layer cake with raspberry filling: This one is similar to the chocolate strawberry one, but doesn't contain fresh raspberries. Instead it has what appears to be a raspberry jam incorporated into the cake as another layer. It is quite tasty. d.) Giant Cookie Cake: This is not something I would normally seek out, but a co-worker was craving on like the ones you used to get at the mall as a kid from the Great American Cookie Company or whatever it was called. Maria's said they could do it, so we ordered one from there. I was not a fan because I don't like cookie cakes in the first place because they are way too sweet for me. However, everyone who likes sweets seemed to enjoy it, and I thought it tasted good in moderation. The cookie had a nice chewy texture. e.) Strawberry Shortcake: This one just looks beautiful with the fluffy whipped cream inside of butter-cream icing. It has fresh strawberries both on top and in the middle and the cake was moist yet fluffy. Strawberry Shortcake herself would be pleased. f.) Italian Rum Cake: I didn't have this one at work, I bought a small one for myself to try it. It was okay, but I wasn't as big of a fan because it was almost too moist, due to the rum I guess. I think a previous reviewer complained about this. It's my least favorite thing I've had here, but I didn't find it as bad as her description. The flavor was nice even though the texture was a bit off. g.) German Chocolate Cake: Another one I tried on my own. Sweet and delicious. It's like the chocolate cakes mentioned before, but has that nice coconut icing instead of chocolate. It's really good, but it still can't beat the stuff my mom makes. h.) Banana/Strawberry Cake: I bought this for a friend's birthday. It sounded interesting and had cute little pictures of bananas frosted on it. It was quite good. Inside was the custard that they use on the fruit tart with fresh bananas and strawberries inside with vanilla cake and a whipped cream frosting like the strawberry shortcake. The cakes were so good, that I decided to venture over here myself. Now I go here to get cannolis. They offer either vanilla or traditional ricotta filling. Both are so delicious that I get half vanilla and half ricotta about every time I go. The fill them when you order them, so they don't get soggy. Also the turnovers are huge and delicious. I prefer the cherry over the apple, but that's just a personal preference. They have really cute sesame street cupcakes with big bird and cookie monster for the kids, or if you're like me, you know you want one too. Most recently I tried the donuts, and they were fresh and came in some interesting flavors. The butter-cream filled donut that looks like a donut sandwich is really good, but a little too rich for me to eat the entire thing at once. Oh, and the best thing beside the cakes would be the almond cookies. They are chewy and taste like marzipan goodness. Don't let looks deceive, because while they don't look like anything special from the outside, if you like almond, I don't see how you could be disappointed. They usually offer to write on the cake, so you don't even have to ask. The staff is very friendly and they are quick to serve you when you come in the shop, but leave you alone and give you time to browse if you need it. The prices are very reasonable, as everything is fresh and homemade. I will most definitely be back! FYI: They accept credit card, but there is a $10 minimum, so if you're just buying something for yourself, you might want to bring some cash!

Seemed like an small town bakery like the one I visited as a kid. Bought some delicious Italian and great cookies. Very clean store and the staff was terrific. Very nice place!

We got an apple pie here, and when I say it was nothing like I've ever had before, I truly mean it. Upon opening the box and sniffing the pie, I could identify, VERY STRONGLY, the scent of donuts. Yes, donuts. The pie smelled like a vanilla cream donut, but it was packed with apples. It was really delicious, but I have to deduct one star simply because I could absolutely feel myself getting fatter and fatter and fatter with every bite. In order to make this stuff so good they must have to put pounds of lard and butter and sugar into their recipes. I know you go to a bakery to indulge, and that we did, but I have so much guilt over eating that pie it's pretty insane. I'll be back again when I'm feeling in a gluttonous mood.

Maria's doughnuts are hands down the best. The cream doughnuts are addicting and the jelly doughnuts use real jelly not the pasty fake junk. They are always fresh and reasonably priced (cheaper than those fake DD doughnuts). I would 100% recommend this bakery for doughnuts. I would also recommend their chocolate chocolate cake. I have had people from Rhode Island and New Jersey request the cake when i travel out that way. You will not be disappointed!

I stopped in to Maria's to get some chocolaty goodness for my boyfriend's birthday. I have to say that I really appreciate a bakery that's open later in the day so I can go after work (open until 8 pm Monday - Saturday). The woman who helped me was extremely helpful and friendly, especially because I wanted chocolate things that were nut-free due to an allergy. I ended up with a some cannolis, two cupcakes, and a pastry shell that was filled with some sort of chocolate cake. Everything I got was tasty and extremely reasonable in price. And thank you for filling the cannolis while I waited! That's the way you do it! I'll definitely be back in the future!

Remember your hometown bakery? This is it! Delicious items-fresh items-quality ingredients and prices that won't floor you! Cannolli cake is good...so are cherry cheese pocket danish.....apple strudel..miniature cinn. buns (with frosting!)....and the list goes on and on. While you're in there-try to make the bakery ladies laff and smile--they eventually will-but you gotta work for it!

Can't beat it! Some of the best pastries in the area. All of the pastry pockets are delish, my favorite is the sweet cream cheese one. The cinnamon bun topped with fresh whipped frosting is to die for. Extremely well priced! A box of 8 different pastries cost me 18 bucks, I love it!

I got an apple turnover and lady lock cream filled pastry and both were very disappointing. The girls working were nice, but not very good pastries

I had my son's first birthday cake here. It was very cute...two tiers with the alphabet letters around it and an Elmo sitting between the tiers, which was made of icing. The cake tasted just like their cupcakes. I paid arounbd $70 for the cake. I will post a picture

I've heard great things about Maria's, so when I needed to order a custom cake, I decided to give them a call. I called on a monday and needed the cake by wednesday evening. The girl on the phone assured me that that was enough time. The cake was a bit risqué (Corset and breasts), however again I was assured that this was no problem as they do these cakes all the time. She gave me the email address for the decorator and asked me to email her the details for the cake and some picture examples of what we were looking for and that I would hear back from her when she came in the next morning. I immediately emailed the decorator and included my contact information for any issues. The following afternoon I still had not heard from the decorator as to a price and what time I could pick the cake up so I emailed her again. After waiting a few more hours and getting no response I called Maria's again and explained the situation. The woman I spoke with was very friendly and took my information and assured me that she would get right back to me after she contacted the owner. That woman called me back a little while later and said that she spoke with the owner who would be calling me shortly and lead me to believe that they would be making the cake. Its been 2 days and I still haven't heard from the owner nor the decorator that I emailed twice and I needed the cake last night. Had I known that their poor customer service was going to cost me a custom cake I would have surely gone to another bakery from the stat......as there are plenty in the area that do custom cakes with far less hassle. Furthermore, if they were unable or unwilling to make the cake, a simple response to either of my emails or telling me over the phone would have sufficed and I would have moved on. I realized that it was a last minute cake order, however to completely ignore me and never return my phone calls after being assured that it was no problem is incredibly rude and irresponsible. As a small business and in this economy, I would think that places would be more willing to embrace and keep new customers. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.

If you ever go to Marias and they are all out of Powdered cream donuts, dude, you just missed me!

I grew up with a bakery within a block of my school and there always kids in there. This place brought back memories for me. I got a cinnamon bun, elephants ears, and cookies. The cookies were the most memorable. Also most memorable was the price. A little steep, but quality is present in these tasty treats. When I crave those cookies again, I will be coming back.

I have been going to Maria's Bakery my whole life, getting hooked on their out-of-this world cream donuts that we would get after church when I was a kid. When I got married this summer, Maria's was our first choice for our cake. (My parents actually got their wedding cake their too!) Maria's did both our cake and an assortment of italian desserts. During all of our consultations, Maria made us feel like family, always sending us home with one of those cream donuts :) For the wedding, she even did special mini cream donuts just for us! Our cake was beautiful and delicious! Maria also gives all of her married couples a certificate to come back on their one year anniversary to get a fresh "cake top" to celebrate their first year. Can't wait to go back and get my cake and my donut!

Either I don't like Italian Rum cake, or this place makes the most disgusting cake ever. You know how a fresh cake is suppose to be moist and tasty? Well, this cake was TOO moist and it was mushy. DISGUSTING! I don't even want to get started on the cake's filling... If my dog REFUSED to eat it, then it says a lot because he's not a picky eater. I'm being VERY GENEROUS giving this place a star, because if I had a choice, I would give it ZERO stars. Recommendation: Save your hard-earned money, and stay away from this place!

My family and I have been ordering from Maria's for as long as I can remember. Their bakery makes the best sweets hands down. They are a family run business and it shows in the love of the food that they make. I have used them for everyday deserts, graduations, parties, engagement party, and grooms cake and do not have anything but praise for them. There prices are very reasonable and they are wonderful to work with. They are a multi-year best of Delco winner and it shows!

Most definitely a FAN of the Apple fritters. I'm a Old-fashioned APPLE dessert fanatic, and I got turned on to Maria's one day while working at this Health Insurance Co. in the city. The supervisor brought them in along w/ other pastries (white powdered donuts w/ cream, etc) and at first I wasn't going to try them.....generally I don't do pastries for morning snack ;-) Then she yelled out, "Make sure you try the Apple fritters before they are all gone".....my mouth watered, and I said "Oooh apple fritters" LOL. So she got me and so did the apple fritter, soft and moist w/ a touch of glaze covering it w/ small apple bits inside. I'm quivering inside, it was SOOOO good!!! Glad I tried it, and I had to ask her where she got them from and she turned me on. YAY!!! So now I share w/ large groups of friends, in my Dance and Nursing community and they LOVE me for it. Hope you enjoy :-)
