A great little old school cafe. My wife's Uncle recommended this spot for breakfast, as he's been going to D&W for awhile now. It's small, mostly quiet and has a great home cooked type menu. The breakfast selection is what really drew me in and will have me coming back a few times a month. The one item that should be a requirement for all first timers is the Double Dipped French Toast. It's simply one of the best breakfasts I've ever eaten. It's extremely filling. It has a simple crunchy batter with tender French Toast on the inside. They also do some great breakfast sandwiches as well as the standard eggs, home fries, toast, and perfectly cooked pancakes. Aside from the breakfast menu, they have good lunch menu. There's also daily specials. If you're in the area, and looking for something with a small town feel, you can't really go wrong here. It's a near perfect breakfast/lunch spot with a nice staff enjoyable food.

This little hole in the wall brunch spot seems to have a lot of regulars and locals that come here frequently, but don't let that dissuade you from eating here. Though fairly straightforward, the food is tasty and rather inexpensive given the portions and quality. Service is friendly and accommodating, as the ladies who run the dining room are very sweet. Most importantly, the food is on point here, especially the sweet stuff. The double dipped french toast, with it's crunchy exterior and tender interior, is one of my favorite variations of french toast anywhere. The pancakes are similarly good, and have the all-important balance of a golden brown crust with fluffy insides. Eggs are seasoned and cooked well, the potatoes are average. D&W will hit the spot for an inexpensive, tasty, frill-less breakfast. Not quite a destination brunch place, but worth a stop if you're close to the area.

I really wanted to like this place, but a few things made that impossible. I arrived around 8:20am on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, no other customers were there. The waitress greeted me and I was sat in the clean dining room which is a little dated, but for breakfast joints I don't mind that. The menu had good options and I went with a full stack of pancakes along with a diet coke. The fountain coke arrived promptly, but was flat (half a star lost) my pancakes arrived quickly, but weren't hot from the grill (another half star gone) also, chocolate chips were added (though not ordered) and the butter provided was rock hard and unspreadable (this is where the cakes being hot would have helped.) the hot cakes were excellent (even with chocolate chips) light and fluffy... Really couldn't ask for more. So if the food and service is pretty good, where are the two other stars you may ask? Well, they took a hike once my pancakes arrived with McDonaldsesque "breakfast syrup packets" why would any restaurant go to the trouble of making quality food if you're going to serve it with prepackaged corn syrup with carmel coloring? If this is what they use for what you can see , imagine the ingredients being used behind the counter. I am so gutted about the syrup that I won't be back..

Dont let the old fashioned outside and inside fool you with the old tile 80s floor and tables. This little corner Cafe has great breakfast with there morning specials and many other types to choose on the menu. I got there "SLAMMER" that was very good. And you do get alot of food with it. So make sure your ready to eat up and have a good appetite!! There eggs are just like any other place. There eggs, but make sure you get onions in the home fries it makes the taste that much better, And when ordering bacon make sure to get it extra crispy yum! Yum! The Pancakes are nice and fluffy with that butter taste to it and moist on the inside. And are not your frozen box ones, there definitely homemade cooked at the best. With a nice crisp on the outside around the edges. Prices are good, and service is great, and Waitress kept coming back to poor more coffee :) :) :) :) Next trip back. Would like to try there sausage, egg and cheese on roll. Hear it's good. Anyone that wants to have a good breakfast. Might want to give this place a try.

Brownsville Road in Feasterville is a testament to poor planning. It is an unredeeming stretch of blacktop more suited to driving in a 1955 Bel Air Chevy than a late model vehicle. Still, if there is any one feature that is above the rest, D & W Brownsville Café and Deli, is it. Within its walls time stands still. The grub is pretty good, if not earthshaking. Although most of the rumble is about breakfast, I arrived in time for late lunch. I sat alone in the side dining room, and the gracious Cathy was my server. First visit, I went with a Cecelia Burger - consisting of Provolone Cheese and Sautéed Mushrooms on a soft Kaiser. The puck came to me Pink/Medium as requested, and the shrooms were larger and tastier than anticipated. Provolone was okay as the sealant for the topping, but was too mild to really effect the flavor of the beef. The only real weakness was the roll, which was soft and felt flimsy when trying to hold the weight of the burger with all its juices. While I would not rush back for another lunch, on speaking with Cathy about breakfast, she lit up with enthusiasm for the French Toast, Sandies, and Egg combos. I will make it back down Brownsville on a morning soon to see what the rave is all about.

I've never had lunch here, but the breakfast--namely the pancakes--are amazing! I can't always make it here for breakfast but when I do, I am on happy, stuffed man. Highly recommend to anyone who likes pancakes!

Good portions per price. Older clientele

Looking to escape hotel food and chain restaurants, I decided to give D&W Brownsville Café a try, despite the mixed reviews. At 8 a.m. on a Monday, I was the only customer, and was warmly greeted and immediately received a hot cup of coffee. Quaint, hand-written table cards announced that before 9 a.m. there were a host of $1.99 specials, including their very good French toast. Unlike in older reviews, the 'cold, hard butter' and 'prepackaged syrup' were nowhere to be found. Clearly, they've made some changes and care what customers think. The food was outstanding for the money. I would definitely come back!!

The sandwiches and hoagies here are pretty solid and very inexpensive. The turkey is house-roasted and definitely less salty and more flavorful than what you would get at the supermarket deli counter. A small is only around $4 and the meat portion is generous enough for a filling lunch; they can also sub Swiss for the ubiquitous American, if that is your preference. The Italian rolls are okay but I really wished that they used Sarcone's or Conshy rolls; they would definitely elevate the hoagies to a new level. Nevertheless, you will get a great, healthy meal for the same price as a Big Mac. When I know that I will be out late running errands, I will order a large hoagie (around $6) and eat the second half for dinner. Service is always very friendly and fast, which is great when you are out on a short lunch break and just need to grab a bite to go.

It appears that some of the decor issues mentioned by prior reviewers have been addressed. When we visited last month, new booths had just been installed. Until I had pancakes at D &W, I was not a huge fan. Pancakes historically gave me heartburn and/or made me want to nap. Not these. OMG, light and fluffy. No soggy middle. Truly, the Platonic ideal of a pancake. D & W also knows its way around eggs. Absolutely top notch and pleasant service. The pride that the waitstaff has in the quality of the food is apparent and infectious. Worth a visit.

All the good comments I read here proved to be true. Yes, it's a hole in the wall, and I was a little nervous when I arrived at 7:30 on a weekday morning and was the only customer. But the waitress was very courteous and efficient, the cheese omelet was quite good, she offered to mix some onion into the home fries, which was also tasty, and the pancakes were as fluffy as can be. All in all, a very pleasurable experience.

Breakfast or lunch this is a great place to have a small informal meeting. Coffee is always fresh brewed and your mug is never empty. The lunch menu is always good but the breakfast is top notch. I have been here dozens of meetings. It's one of my favorite places for a face to face meeting and you don't pay for fancy decor. the staff is always friendly and glad to see you!

Again, other Yelpers reviews were spot on. Pancakes WERE delicious. Cran-cakes. (Pancakes with cranberries). Greek omelette was banging. Seat yourself joint with kindly and efficient staff. I never would have in a million years stopped by this place so Thank You Yelp and Fellow Yelpers for revealing it to me.

Delicious food. It's true what others have said about the pancakes - best I've ever had. Fluffy, light and not too filing. My review is 4 stars because the service wasn't the most speedy - but then again one lady was waiting on the entire dining area. The price for the food was very fair ( for 2 breakfasts, one pancake, 2 cups of coffee and an OJ...the bill was just under $15).

I definitely have to explore this place more. But for now, it is very friendly, hoagies are made right on italian rolls and they don't shortchange you on meats.

So-so cheesesteak and the pancakes...close to homemade but not wifey's... Tried it but not again. Sorry.

A very homey feel to this breakfast and lunch cafe, walking in I felt like I was in a place in the home town where I grew up or for some reason it felt like a few places I had dined at in Vermont. Just simple, yet cozy and decorated the way older cafes used to be. The black and white linoleum tiles on the floor are a bit worn in spots as are the different colored and decorated vinyl table covers. The tables and padded chairs are metal and the wooden shelves and racks on the wall hold coffee mugs. The pictures are anything from cafes around the world to the local business establishments. There is no music other than the voices of others conversations singing in your ears. A deli and counter are what you first notice with a standing reach in cooler and a high table and stools. Off from this is a small dining area with maybe a dozen tables. The dining area has peach colored walls on the top half and the bottom is covered with maple paneling. Everyone that walked in greeted the workers by name and were familiar with the seat yourself procedure. The windows could use a washing and the place is old, but could be spifted up a bit. Food and service were great and friendly smiles all around. Marge was our server, a delight and fit in perfectly seeming to be a little old fashioned. Don't take that wrong Marge, it was refreshing to have a server like you, who was very friendly, helpful, not overbearing, smiled and performed her job without attitude. The pancakes are not to be missed, even if you order an egg dish with potatoes and meat, add pancakes! Wonderful, thick, fluffy pancakes barely sprinkled with powdered sugar, which are definitely buttermilk but had a hint of vanilla. I added a side of crispy bacon and it was fairly thick and lean. Hubby and I each had our own omelet, he barfs when I order mine, 'cause he likes a simple meat and cheese one. I had a Greek omelet which was to be filled with sausage and potatoes, unusual to me for a Greek, but hey, I'll take it, tomatoes, black olives and feta cheese. I asked them to add mozzarella, they did but minus my feta ( I am not meant to have feta cheese this week, my prior review to this, the pizza parlor did not put my feta on my gourmet pizza.) The omelets were huge, fluffy, all the ingredients were of great quality, quantity and cooked to perfection! Yay, I really enjoyed it and they came with home fries with peppers and onions on request, no charge and coffee! I pass on coffee when dining out, it has to be strong and the best quality for me, so I gave up years ago. They have a very nice breakfast menu with egg sandwich combos, French toast, pancakes, pork roll and scrapple. They have combo platters where you can have eggs, meat, pancakes and what not. Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, I finally checked them out and I was not disappointed. It's good food served on mismatched plates.

Stars? Really? It's a dump. My wife and I went there looking for a good decent breakfast or brunch. Walked in looked at a deli case. The dining room looks like it was decorated circa 1980. There were 3 waitresses working. It really wasn't that crowded. Maybe 20 people and some were on their way out. After they noticed us standing one of them said just grab a table. LOL every table still had dirty settings on it. The only table we saw open had a wash towel in the middle of it. We sat, looked the menu, looked at the walls, floors, other customers and bolted for the door. All I kept thinking was who the hell goes there and gives it a 2, 3, or 4 stars? Are you kidding me? I think the board of health needs to pay a visit.
