Always good food no matter what! Last night when my mom and I went to dinner they were out of dos Equis and they only had 2 coronas left!! Chips and salsa and cheese dip are amazing! Fun atmosphere.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area. Fast and delicious food. I want to take home a jar of their fresh salsa that they bring for free to the table when you arrive. The mango Margarita's are delicious. The portions are generous.

I have been here several times and I can't find one negative thing to say except maybe the green hot sauce is too hot (just joking) lol! But really I love this place every time I go I get wonderful service, piping hot food, wonderful portions and just an overall great eating experience! The chicken or steak fajitas come out sizzling right in front of your eyes! I will definitely be back and I will definitely tell my friends about this place!

Cheap and tasty! We head here for super fast service, fresh chips and cold modello on tap. Authentic. Chile rejenos my fav.

Overall I rely like this place. My fiancé and I come here often and enjoy it a lot. The service isn't fantastic but it's a cheap little Place, I don't expect much. One thing, tough. Is that there's always this weird smell in here, like a really harsh cleaner or something. It's sort of gross to smell right before you're about to eat.

There are not many authentic Mexican restaurants in Erie ... El canelo is close but after traveling to la and San Diego most places are a far cry from authentic ... The Refried beans are decent and the salsa and chilps are good.. The food is prepared super fast .. My sister likes their margaritas ... And she loves the food there but she hardly travels

We stopped recently at this location of El-Canelo for a late lunch and drinks. This restaurant seems to be cleaner and staffed with friendlier servers than the 12th St. location, but the food is similar. Inexpensive, nice portions, and fast service. I had the Quesadillas Rellenas with chicken, and it arrived hot and tasty. I Coupled the meal with a few Tecates and I was very satisfied. My only gripe with El-Canelo is their overuse of iceberg lettuce. More refried beans and less iceberg please!

My family's favorite Mexican restaurant. The California burrito is quite delicious. Great for quick casual dining or takeout.

Not sure what to say about this experience....I had a long day at work and I wanted a quick Tex Mex fix. Not quite Taco Bell but not quite Latino's...and not as far up Peach St as Toreros. So my husband and I stopped into El Canelos. I hadn't eaten there in a long while. We were seated at a table that had ants on it. There were just a few and I just wiped them off. Normally I would have just gotten up and left, but like I said, it was a long day at work and all I wanted so some chips and salsa and a quesadilla. I actually got a mushroom quesadilla and it was really really good, the beans were fantastic, the salsa was really damn thin, but not bad and the price was right. About $21 for two adults. So far so good, right? My phone rings and it's work and I have to take it. I'm talking and my husband looks at me in horror and demands I go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. Normally I hate people on cell phones in restaurants or in line at places, etc. So I was breaking my own rule here but the bathroom? Geez! WTH? Yeah I get in the bathroom and I see my chest and my face are broken out in hives and I'm itching like hell all over. I can't think why this might have happened!! My husband thinks maybe they had just sprayed insecticide for the ants. I was wearing a favorite necklace and was fiddling with it so I think I might have touched the table and then handled my necklace around my neck, maybe I touched my face pushing hair out of my eyes or something. I never got actual hives anywhere else on my body. I went home showered, took some benadryl, and took a nap. In about 5 hours the hives were mostly gone. I hate to ding them for this but I'm not allergic to anything like that and we did see the ants. It's a real shame because the food was pretty good for their price range. I'll tell ya what though....when I want dinner after a long hard day in the office what I DON'T WANT is *)$*(@^$ hives and a 5 hour benadryl induced nap. For that I'd rather pony up the cash for Latino's and have some free time after work, rather than sleeping it away. Maybe I should have complained but I basically just went to the car. I wasn't going to stand there at the register saying "LOOK AT MY CHEST! I WANT MY MONEY BACK". Yeah El-Canelo's I'm pretty angry, I don't think we'll break up, but you're sleeping on the couch tonight.

I'm not a fan of Mexican food, but two friends talked me into coming here for supper and I'm glad that I did. It was the best meal that I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant, the portion sizes were perfect for me, and the prices were fair. If I lived in Erie I'd come back on my own, I'm glad that my friends talked me into coming here for supper.

My family loves this place!! The staff is friendly, the food is delicious and it's always to fast and convenient. Consistently our favorite place to eat-- especially my toddlers' favorite.

As far as Mexican in Erie, there are not many legitimate options. This is probably the best of the bunch - inexpensive, fast, and tasty. Don't expect to be blown away, but for the area, you could do much worse.

Good good for the price. Cheap compared to other mexican places and they have cheap margaritas. The quality is decent and there is a wide selection.
