This is a very overpriced establishment for what they offer. The food was overcoocked and the crab legs tasted like freezer. In general the staff was not knowledgeable about what they had in the kitchen as the menu was out of date.

I came in on a Thursday evening after getting off of work early. I had a mussels appetizer, which was ok, there were a few non-openers (NEVER EAT A NON-OPENER!), but the rest were relatively tasty. For dinner I had a skirt steak with potatoes. It was cooked correctly, and well seasoned. The beer selection was varied and the bartender was attentive and friendly. The decor was akin to chain restaurants that offer "extreme fajitas" or "jalapeno shooters". For a quick night out with the family or some friends, this is a good bet.

Really, this deserves 3.5 stars: 3 for food, 4 for ambiance. I'm not sure what all the hate is with this place. My friend and I stopped here for a quick lunch and some beverages on the way to a hockey game, and I was extremely and pleasantly surprised (especially based on these reviews). No, it's not groundbreaking food, but yes: it's cheap, quick, and decent. We sat in the bar, so I can't speak to the dining room, but Rylee, the bartender, was excellent: attentive, efficient, and glad to help. (Sidebar: +1,000,000 stars for the great throwback jams on the touch tunes. Yeah, I said it.) Drinks were cheap, food wasn't terrible, and all in all, it's a fine place for a quick stop.

Against my better judgment we went to dinner at Pickles Steakhouse in Emmaus. We have not been there in years because of bad food and service. Well unfortunately it has not changed. My food was inedible. So I watched my family eat. Owner said they were busy?? I wish our meal was comped, it ruined our night.

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was with our dinning experience. I was craving a steak and decided to buy the more expensive NY strip for 24 dollars. The steak tasted like dried cardboard. I will take it one step further and say it was the worst steak I have ever had. On a side note the decor of pickles looks like Barnum and Baileys circus threw up all over the place. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Some of the worst service I have ever experienced. Not recommended.

Our trip to Pickles Steakhouse was our first... and last. The food was absolutely disgusting. I ordered the double decker burger, and it came on a kaiser roll and cost me $10. The burger itself was bland and underseasoned (or seasoned at all?) and tastes gritty as if it had fillers and not 100% beef. My mother ordered just french fries since she didn't like anything on the menu, the fries were DEFINITELY frozen fries you get at Sam's Club and were not seasoned one bit. Not even a generous helping of the table salt could render these bland floppy fries palatable. My father ordered the Rotisserie chicken was rancid and was obviously reheated, I usually try my parents food but this chicken looked so gross I didn't even bother trying. The Service The server we had was generally nice, but was very inconsistent with our drinks, we all ordered water with lemon, and she only asked to refill it for us once, at the end of the meal, I grew so thirsty that I had to drink from my fathers glass.

I have been here a few times before in the last few years and we only went because every where else was full. However i can honestly say this was our best experience ever! We had great service and the food was wonderful! The menu seems different and everything we had was great! I definitely see a big improvement here!

The food was cold and service was terrible for a half empty seating area. The flavor was hit and miss on our 5 meals and two apps. Hopefully it was just an off night.

I hope this was an isolated incident because we have never had this problem before. We live about 1/2 hour away and it's usually worth the trip. We requested to sit in the bar at a regular table and the hostess rolled her eyes at us like we were an inconvenience. After being seating for 15 min without anyone coming to the table, the owner came and asked if we had been helped. We told him no and he didn't even offer to get us a drink. We waiting another 5-10 min until our waitress finally got there. By that time we were ready to order. Our waitress went to take our order and didn't have a pen. So it took another 5 min to get waters and she still forgot her pen. Tac on another 5 minutes to find a pen and we were finally able to order. The waitress brought out my fajita shells and fixings and that food sat for 15 min until the chicken for it came out. My husbands steak was cooked medium rare as requested however it was bland and not as good as normal. After done eating, we waited another 20 min to get our check. She then forgot to take off the coupon I presented to her at the beginning of the meal. That took another 10-15 min to get the final check. This entire time the owner was 20 ft from us and didn't acknowledge or apologize once. I don't see any reason to come back.

I feel like I need to update this because I had previously given it 5 stars... twice... This place has gone downhill like it was on Steel Force... Over the past 3 visits, the service has been non-existent (we've even had to ask for the pickles for our table...) the quality of the food has been mediocre at best, and the servers don't even know what is on the menu. They don't know how to use the Yelp! coupon that they advertise -- and that is very frustrating. I'm not going to go into specifics because we've simply had poor experiences the last three times on just about every level. And for what the food costs, it simply needs to be better. The place isn't horrible, but it is getting there very quickly and we aren't likely to return at this point. Very sad...

I don't understand how this place is in business other than Emmaus is underserved by not enough restaurants. Clearly this place is broken. Typically this kind of systemic failure starts at the top with owners and management and trickles down. The place has an almost noxious smell of something deeply and disturbingly wrong. There are enough flies buzzing around you have to swat them away. I ordered a flatbread and it came out almost raw, dough not even cooked through and was the grossest most appalling thing I have seen come out of a kitchen in a long time. The patrons seem dominated by workers clocking out from nearby company and take over the place. There is lots of swearing, and excessive drinking and this is in the early evening. I don't know why anyone would take their family there. So cheap drinks is probably only thing keeping this place alive. It's a dive bar but not even a cool dive. I will say the bartender is nice and seems sincere but she can only do so much to put a good face on the place and keep it alive. She deserves to work in a better establishment more fitting to her professionalism.

I don't know why they have bad reviews. I admit that I stopped going there a few years ago because of lousy steak, but my last visit was very good. It is true that the restaurant at 7 o'clock was not half full, but that didn't speak of my meal. The server did take a long time to get to us, but she was OK. My wife's French onion soup was good and my fried pickles were not so good. What was very good was the creamed seafood soup I had. It was quite tasty. My wife's salad was good too. The fries were the frozen type, but the meat (2 - 24 oz rib eyes) were cooked exactly medium. They had a good char taste to them and very juicy. We really enjoyed them. Overall, this place has upped it game. I also liked the circus decorations. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. We will be back.

Awful. Don't go. Ordered steamers, lobster tail, burger. Drinks: nothing non alcoholic on the menu. Pages and pages of alcohol. Burger: ordered med rare, came well done, meat serving was very small, lost inside bun. "Steamers": scary. What country were these from? Unrecognizable shell. Clam were tiny and ... dried up? They must have been frozen and thawed and frozen and thawed on their long trip from unknown waters. Lobster tail: over cooked is the best I can say. Dried up. French fries: listed as 'hand cut' were just frozen supermarket fries. Awful awful awful. Oh...forgot to say! This is a first for me...my fork bent double when I used it!! Literally bent over on itself.

Beware don't use the free appetizer coupon from Yelp, it is only good for 5 bucks off and it turns off your Happy Hour. Essentially canceling the free appetizer.

Today was my first experience at pickles and to say the least the experience was very unpleasing. I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time just simply because of the name. I love pickles so it peaked my interest when I saw the sign driving to see my boyfriend. Being that I'm not from the area I waited and waited till finally we had a little free time and finally ventured in. As we entered the establishment the host who also turned out to be the bartender gave us an unwelcomed greeting. As we sat down at the bar I politely asked her how she was doing her response was "fine". I quickly knew she wanted nothing to do with us. She immediately asked "what do you want to drink" again no friendly bartender attitude at all. Then what do you want to eat. She checked on us once. Then when it came to payment she dropped the check and hovered as she waited for us to get payment. The whole time she was sitting in the corner with the server on duty eating. I have been in the resturant business for 10 plus years and so has my boyfriend who is a restaurant manager and we both know that's not even slightly good service. The food was okay and normally we can handle just mediocre food but as people in the industry we expect great service to make up for that and it just absolutely was not there. Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism and better your guest service and maybe you would have more guests present in your establishment.

Went last night with a companion. Ordered wings, salads, rib eye with steak fries, filet mignon with shrimp skewers. Restaurant about 1/4 full. Had to wait on drinks because "bar was backed up." Well, we got 3 sauces for the wings: garlic parmagiana, sweet and sweaty, and hot garlic. The garlic parmagiana was so-so, but the other two tasted like they were prepared with pickle juice. Salads: ranch (which tasted more like some white non-descript salad dressing made again with pickle juice) and bleu-cheese, which really didn't taste like bleu cheese. Kind of like out of a bottle of store-brand dressing. Ordered steaks medium. I asked how the cook does if someone orders a steak, "medium". She said very good. Well, the filet mignon was well done, I'm not actually sure it was even filet mignon! Inedible. The rib eye was a thin-cut, dry, and overdone, I had about 3 bites before I couldn't take having to chew what felt like charbroiled rubber in my mouth. The shrimp skewers came with 4 and they were dry, overcooked and horribly chewy so that we ate one only. Inedible. We complained. The manager was testy and defensive immediately. Offered that they prepare yet 2 more steaks (um, no way). Offered ribs instead. No, no way I wanted any more food from that restaurant. They brought peanut butter pie which was awesome. The server said they do not prepare that in-house, so I knew it would be good substitute for dinner. The steak fries were hot, salted right, but I think they are just frozen (there is no regular baked potato on the menu, which is odd for an alleged steakhouse.). My companion thought the baked sweet potato was overdone and mushy. I thought it was soft, yeah, perhaps mushy but had great flavor. Will not go there again. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for the quality of the mediocre food and service and bad attitude. Should have gone to Long Horn Steakhouse on my special occasion.

We use to come here a couple times a week. Not anymore. It's hard to mess up beer and wings - it's the only reason we kept coming. But after all the health violations, the countless reports of food poisoning, and a manager who has no clue how to satisfy his customer base, we had to stick to our guns and cut them clean. Food: just horrible - there is nothing on this menu that is edible let alone mouth watering. The wings are frozen cysco product, processed to shit, fried and drenched in sauce to the point of alcohol infused bliss. Note that alcohol is an important element if you want to enjoy anything here. Service: It seems to us that the only reason the bar crowd continues to come back is because of the cute bartender who flirts with all those that might have a few extra bucks in their pocket. We can't respect that. Don't ask about the menu, she knows nothing! Lol. Wish she did. Pretty face, knows how to pour beer, guess that's all that matters, huh. Ambience: Applebee's and TGI Fridays ripoff. This place sucks. Management: so the story goes that the owner has Bull & Bear in the east side of Allentown. Apparently the twins run this place and Pickles. I would put 10K on Pickles dragging down their restaurant portfolio. The management at Pickles is run by the son, Demetri. Nice guy for the most part, a bit hot headed and just doesn't have a clue. Ever hear of an I9? I bet those social security cards are forged. Hire a real staff, rebrand the place and just maybe you'll break even. Overall: just drive on by - those cars in the lot are first timers or just plain alcoholics drinking past their allotted 2$ happy hour. Might just be the only reason they're still open.

Used to like to come here until the last time we visited when all three in our party (me, my wife and my buddy) got food poisoning. My poor friend didn't even make it out of the restaurant and we ended up waiting for him for 15 minutes while he had a rough time in the bathroom. My wife and I made it the 15 minute ride home but shortly after our fun ordeal started as well. All three of us had ordered the same thing, prime rib, and the effect was so immediate and identical (I'll spare you the gory details) in all three cases that we knew what the cause was. Interestingly enough, while we were waiting for our check I had noticed that a couple at a nearby table had just a few minutes prior gotten a dessert that came in a large glass bowl and something was going on. The couple had only been eating their dessert for a minute when they started pointing at something they could see through the glass bowl beneath the dessert. They immediately stopped eating and called their server over and started gesturing like crazy at the dessert bowl. The waitress appeared embarrased, said something and then took the dessert away. We weren't close enough to hear what they were saying. I would love to know what it was the couple discovered sitting in their dessert. Here's the really crazy thing. I shared our experience with a co-worker of mine and her eyes went wide. Turns out she and some of her friends had a similar experience with getting sick immediately after eating here. She said she'll never eat at Pickles again. We've never been back since.

Have to say I'm a bit surprised by the vitriol slung towards Pickles on here. We've had two perfectly nice meals here in a row, decently priced with very nice service. It seems like a normal, OK local burger & beer joint. Burgers and sandwiches are quite good and the portions very large. Steak dinners okay for the price, large portions, although I dislike that they only make one veg a day - and on our night, it was sad, mushy corn-on-the-cob. Not a fan at all. The menu is a bit all over the place - from stir fry to parmigiana to fish & chips (and, of course, steaks). We happened to visit on "AYCE Snow Crab Leg Night" and it was kind of shocking how many baskets of the things were going by and how many people didn't seem to care about the crab shell they were flinging all over the floor. My biggest beef is the atmosphere - no booths, only tables, and everywhere we sit feels exposed and busy. Apparently it's also big with families with kids; during our visit we were unfortunately seated next to a large gumball machine. Someone let their little darling run all over the restaurant and he chose to stand behind our chairs, banging the metal door of the gumball machine over and over and over... and over. I recommended dining later in the evening.

Went here last night and had a cheese burger and it was not fresh I think it was a frozen burger and it came with fries I wanted well done and some of them were raw inside still. Pickles Blacccchhh!!! Well lesson learned wont go here again.

this service was terrible. our server, had no clue what she was doing. we asked about what kind of Merlot they had, and she simply replied with "it's red wine" what??? I ordered an 8oz filet and it was awful. it was chewy, cold and had absolutely no taste. I sent it back ($24) and got a Cuban panini ($9) and it wasn't even that great and I'm Cuban! then they wouldn't accept my coupon, but since I had such a terrible experience they took it off anyway. then after speaking with the manager very nicely, the server comes back and says "sorry I'm not up to your guys standards" and rolls her eyes as she walks away. and then, we heard her talking in the kitchen about us! I have not been to this place in over 5 years and I will never, ever return. If you want a nice steak and great customer service don't go to Pickles!!!!

We ordered 2 beers and they were warm. We had to return them and declined a refill. My husband ordered fish with rice and salad. Salad was small but the actual dinner itself was pathetic. Was supposed to be Cajun and had no season. The fish was about 4oz and the rice was about 1/2 cup. He had to eat again after we left. That dinner cost 15.99. My salad was pretty good but lacked a lot of essentials. It was greens, some chicken, tomatoes and onions for 12.99??? REALLY!? The tomatoes were huge chunks. Our friend had the crab legs which she seemed to enjoy. We eat out a lot in the LV we like a cold beer and a filling dinner. This was awful.

Service was horrible. Drinks took forever to get and the waitress didn't take our food order for over an hour. The food was terrible. I had to send it back...probably the first time I've ever done that.

Not good. Ordered filet kabobs for $17 and my fiancé got the shrimp chili rice concoction. My steak had no flavor. Oh, and normally you get zucchini on kabobs. Bit into what I thought was zucchini and was unpleasantly surprised with the sour taste of lemon. YUCK! The rice was greasy and we both felt sick afterwards. Not worth the high prices. Now that I'm home and finishing my review, I can honestly say that my fiance actually got sick. Won't go back for food. Can't complain about the beers. :)

My family of five just wanted a good experience, good food, nice time out of the house to enjoy good food, laughs etc. not to much to ask for hard working families. 1st impression; newer restaurant, lots of flair decor and was met by friendly smiles on way in. Boy, was that deceiving for what we were about to experience in the food department. I ordered the bay breeze alchoholic drink/this was delish! Dinner selections: I chose the chicken entree w/red potatoes... received my salad beforehand began eating and then the waitress arrived to tell me they were "out of" the chicken dinner entree. Thanks for the heads up? Btw: Still got charged for the "free salad" that was supposed to come with my chicken entree. Had to re-order. So, I chose the Philly Rib-eye cheesesteak w/marinara sauce. Holy Crap! The meat looked like it had gone through a blender! It was absolutely mushy & seasoning highly questionable and lacking marinara sauce. The presentation was just lazy to put it nicely. Also, believe the meat was bad/poisoned as we were driving home, I passed out due to serious abdominal pain and diarrhea after only 20 mins driving home from Pickles; sorry to gross you out, but my husband and oldest son also experienced similar reactions after we ate our dinner at Pickles! *CHEF & MANAGER: CLEAN OUT YOUR KITCHEN THOROUGHLY. ORDER FRESH MEAT/KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR FOUL SMELLS or ANY DISCOLORATION ON THE MEAT ETC. DISINFECT EVERY INCH OF YOUR KITCHEN. PUT SOME PASSION IN YOUR CRAFT FOR PETE'S SAKE AND TRY NOT TO KILL THE CUSTOMERS. Thanks. My husband ordered Kobe Burger. Was mediocre for some reason and too much horseradish sauce. Did not have the rich, unique flavor we've tasted before at other restaurants. Disappointment. Hubs, also had stomach issues shortly thereafter! My oldest had regular cheese burger w/fries, got sick afterward. fries undercooked too, didn't finish and my boys can eat! Middle son, had kids menu bbq ribs w/fries; overcooked, messy presentation and he could not eat it all either. youngest son, ordered chicken fingers w/fries off the kid menu... this was the ONLY meal that was pretty tasty. chicken fingers had very good breading and fries were cooked perfectly. To TOP IT ALL OFF: Bill came to 70 bucks. Wouldn't have been bad price if the food didn't try to kill us. Conclusion: Never judge a restaurant by it's show of money/ decor/flashy lights etc. It's the FOOD that ALWAYS MATTERS THE MOST. REALLY PICKLES??? Only one meal made appropriately out of five? You made your newest customers SICK with bad meat, no passion in the cooking at all, it was SO CLEAR. I hope management considers hiring a chef or more than one to get some help in that area of your business with some respect for what they do and mostly, for the paying customers eating the meals. Disappointment. Sadly, because we were literally sickened by your meals, we will not be back.

I've given Pickles a lot of chances but never again. The last time I was there I ordered ribs and I think they threw the BBQ sauce on them when they were bringing them to my table. Another person ordered a steak medium and it came out well done. I tried ordering 3 different types if wine only to be told they were out of them. Don't be deceived by how full the parking lot looks and think they must be good because they have a lot of customers because its deceiving as the employees from the business next door park in their lot. Even for happy hour on a Friday I was not impressed. Dirty glasses and flat beer.

I've had an incredibly terrifying restaurant experience. When entering Pickles I was greeted by two ominous clown statues leering at me from the ceiling. My first instinct was to shoot first and order steak later but I decided to instead just use the Groupon I had purchased earlier and pray to my deity of choice. The entire restaurant is garishly decorated with all sorts of weird signage and bizarre toy store rejects. The food is also plated on equally weird and colorful china that screams "elderly person yard sale." An interesting twist on the bread basket is that they also serve you some average pickles. I don't know why they have this pickles thing going but whatever the interior decorator was smoking I think they should market it and compete against the Mexican cartels. Oh yeah, the steaks were completely mediocre if fairly priced. I should probably say something about the food. But I was too terrified to remember most of what I ate.

Worst nachos on the planet. Everything on the plate was cold. The chicken (obviously boiled due to the blah white color), the bland chips & even the cheese How can gooey cheese sauce be cold?! Grossest thing I've eaten since I don't know when.

Fellow yelpers are dead on. 2/5. Food was below Fridays but I expected better. Service was poor. Spoke to manager, and he had no apologies. Save your money. Lots of better places in Lehigh Valley for this price.

I really don't understand how this place has stayed in business for so long. The food is not only terrible, but ridiculously overpriced. I went a second time a few nights ago, hoping to give it the benefit of the doubt after a bad first time, and it was again supremely underwhelming. On my first visit, I got the lobster ravioli with a shrimp skewer -- it was almost $20 and didn't come with anything -- the sides are a la carte. The ravioli dish itself was very dry and didn't even include much food, and the shrimp skewer was incredibly small. On my second visit, I got the chicken parmigiana -- I've had much better at crappy Italian places, for cheaper. My husband got the NY strip steak, which was OK but rather boring and mediocre for a place supposedly specializing in steak. Also, the bread basket was terrible -- the bread was hard and stale, and it wasn't even warm. I keep wanting to like this place, if only for its proximity to our house, but I keep having a terrible experience. The only plus side was the dessert -- we shared the pineapple upside-down cake with vanilla ice cream and it was delicious.

The price is tens times too high for the quality (or lack thereof) of food. I got the special, which was Hawaiian Mahi Mahi. My husband got the Filet migon with shrimp scewers. I couldnt bring myself to take a third bite. It was horrible. The fish tasted like it was previously frozen and then boiled in a bag. My husband thought the filet tasted like it had MSG and was old. These two dishes plus a glass of beer came out to $60!! We could have had 5 times the taste and quality at Outback Steakhouse for 1/3 of the cost. Will never go there again.

Only gave 2 stars because the food was decent. Stood in the doorway for a little then an employee got up from the bar from watching TV when he realized we were standing there. Server was not good at all. Asked if we wanted something to drink and we had to ask what they had after an awkward pause and he said Pepsi. I didn't want any alcohol but you could see the full bar and list of specials yet he only mentioned Pepsi. We were the only people in the restaurant at 1. We ordered a sandwich and burger and it took about 15 minutes to get our food. Like I said the food wasn't bad, but we were almost done and our server finally came to check on us. If something was wrong we would have been forced to eat it.because there was no employee or manager to be seen. Our check was delivered and we were trying to give him $3-4 on $24 which isn't bad but he didn't wow us or even refill our sodas so we weren't going to stiff him but weren't giving him $5-6. We didn't have change so we waited for him to bring the check back and he gave us a $5 bill so we'd have to give him that. We found that extremely rude and unprofessional. If you want 20%+ you better give us service worthy of that or even upsell so we get more expensive meals and automatically increase your tip. A final comment is the decor is very creepy and not very conducive to wanting to eat or stay longer and drink more at the bar. We will not be returning.

I went here with my family for the first time. From the very start we had to wait 10 or so minutes just for a server to come over. Add another 10 minutes to get the drinks. We had been sitting a little over 20 minutes and hadnt even put in a order yet. Once we ordered it took 40 minutes for our order to come out. I can look past this if the food is good. It wasnt. My ribeye that I ordered medium was beyond well through and through. So dissapointing. My kids prime rib had the same story. We had to use steak sauce to wash the dry meat down. My wife did like her salmon. We have a one year old so the long wait and bad steaks mean we will never repeat. The wait staff was friendly...but I prefer less waiting and better cuisine to friendliness. Also, forgot to add. My ceasar salad was the worst I had ever had. It was MUSHY. How does that happen, the center was also very warm.

Too bright, an unimaginative menu, and the steaks were well below my expectations. I shall not be returning.
