This restraunt surpasses some of the best of New York City! A true french bistro environment, that recognizes the no tipping custom. All food is simply beyond reproach! And, a full bar with specialty beers! I cannot wait to go back!

187 Rue Principale consistently provides amazing culinary experiences. We have been there three times - twice for dinner and once for lunch. The food is the best we have had anywhere. I rate this as one of the best restaurants overall. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Sophisticated French cuisine makes its debut in Emmaus, Pa! I wouldn't have believed it, but it just happened in my own mouth. The place is located in the increasingly adorable downtown area of Emmaus, and it has raised the international élan factor through the roof. The delectable menu is divided into small plates and standard entrees, and it all looked so good that my wife and I elected to go small, so we could sample more items. She had the salad nicoise (salade compose with tuna, green beans, watermelon-radish slices, frisee, smoked tomatoes) and amazing shrimp croquettes; I had the rocket salad (my wife said it was the best one she had ever had in her life of rocket eating) and the pan-fried rabbit. Subtle, interesting flavor combos, perfectly cooked, lovely presentation. We savored this while finishing our wine (BYOB, until the liquor license comes through), then ordered brie en croute with grape jam, honeycomb, and a lovely fruit bread for dessert. Are you getting the picture? Terrific, fresh ingredients melded by a top chef in a delightfully intimate room. It wasn't exactly France; too friendly for that. It IS going through its shakedown cruise now, having opened only a week ago. Go for dinner now, while it's still possible to get reservations. I haven't been for breakfast or coffee yet, but given the level of the baked goods at dinner, it will be a new early-morning stop off for cappuccino and pain au chocolat. What an amazing new resource in the heart of Emmaus. Allez, vite!

Absolutely outstanding - a hidden gem in the Lehigh Valley. Probably one of the best restaurants in a 100 mile radius. The interior design is simple and inviting - does not make you feel out of place. Seating is available both outside and inside. The food is spectacular - very fresh, nothing is processed. We heard about this restaurant from a bee farmer who sells honey near the Quakertown 476 interstate. He told us that the chef from 187 Rue Principale travels on Sundays to the local farms to personally select various foods, etc. When we heard this, we knew that we had to try it. The food looks wonderful and tastes incredible. And, the menu is very reasonably priced considering all of the work that goes into the preparation and presentation. You can tell that the owners are very passionate about creating a great dinning experience. Can not wait to go back - and even try their brunch and lunch menus.

Run don't walk to this fabulous French farm to table restaurant in the heart of Emmaus! Every course was better than next. There were 4 of us in our party. We had 4 different appetizers and four different entrees and everyone raved about every bite. Very nice ambience. Wonderful service. We discussed when will return as we were leaving. I think trying them for brunch will be next. Magnifique!

Went here for brunch today. Sat outside and enjoyed a delicious crepe while my husband loved the ham and cheese omelette. Staff very friendly and sweet! Food was great! No tipping here either. Will definitely return to try more items from the menu.

I was glad to experience the French cuisine at 187 Rue Principale in Emmaus, focusing on farm to table food. Though I live out of state, I am familiar with the choices of restaurants in the LV area and this restaurant offers some interesting menu items. The restaurant design is clean, the bar area is gorgeous and I love the chicken art - très français! It reminds me of the art I found at this hotel: fermeaugustin.com/fr/3-h… I loved the quiche du jour which was made with a lovely puff pastry. The salmon crêpe was served with very little crème fraîche, so I requested more. Please make sure the staff is familiar with all the ingredients on the menu. Also, just use ripe avocados! I would make sure that the menu is translated into English so no one feels lost and I also recommend adding a hamburger et frites! as this is so common now in France and always a good addition if you make it the best ever: brioche rolls, the very best meat and garnishes as well as the lovely skinny fries in cones that France is so known for! I look forward to coming back on my next trip through the area.

First time in here and had a great experience. Newly & beautifully renovated. Nice little bar, and fantastic menu. We had savory and sweet crepes which were divine. Skillfully crafted lattes. And great staff! Looking forward to going back.

Crepes were big. I'll give them that. But the savory turkey crepe was dry. My girlfriend had the figgy piggy crepe and felt hers was also dry. We did go the second week they opened, so they may have been trying things out. I'm hoping it tastes better the second time around.

This is my favorite brunch stop! For a perfect Sunday, eat a crepe (or two) at Rue, then walk over to the Emmaus Farmer's Market. Delicious food and lovely atmosphere! We, also, love this Rue as our special date spot. Every dish is made to perfection with attention to detail. We are so lucky to have in Emmaus!

Stopped by for lunch with my wife today. We'd been wanting to check it out for a while, glad we did. I ordered an open-face sandwich with tuna and quail eggs. It was delicious. She had a salad that looked amazing. Room was nice, quiet, stylish, and bright. Very nice space. The portions were small (or maybe I just eat too much); we had to stop at Rita's on my way back to the office because I was still hungry. That would be my only complaint, if any. Loved the fact that they added in the tip to the price of the food. I wish all restaurants would do the same.

What a nice addition to the dining options in Emmaus! The food is always so flavorful, the staff is accommodating and the vibe is 'tres chic!' You can't really go wrong with any of the menu selections. You just have to go back a LOT to try them all! I was disappointed that none of the servers speak a lick of French but they're nice. Would be a special touch if they learned some basics. The ' No tipping policy' allows for a simple departure after paying the bill.

187 Rue Principale offers fine dining in a casual, relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. The food is of the highest quality and mostly locally sourced, the preparation and presentation are excellent and the service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Tables in the dining room are spaced adequately and outdoor tables on the sidewalk are available. Our party of five went there for a late lunch on a Monday, and as expected, the place was not crowded at all (Mondays are usually the slowest restaurant days). I had made a reservation using Open Table and noted that we were celebrating my mother's 90th birthday. To start off, we had a bottle of French champagne to celebrate the event. Although it was the lower-priced alternative, the wine was very nice. Several of us ordered the daily special tomato soup, which was quite good. Among the entrees we ordered were the lamb burger (daily special), the Summer Nicoise (which is like a deconstructed salade nicoise), the Salade Lyonnaise, the Salmon Tartine and another daily special dish. Everything was prepared perfectly and everyone enjoyed their meal. During the meal, someone dropped a fork, and the server magically appeared with a replacement immediately. My wife and I also enjoyed the double imperial citrus IPA they were serving on top from nearby Funk Brewing. One of the best IPAs I've tasted; certainly several notches above most craft beers around these days. The brunch menu, in addition to Petite Plats and Tartines (which are served atop a thick slice of brioche bread), also includes several sweet and savory crepes, as well as several daily specials. The brunch menu is also less expensive than the dinner menu, hence the $$ rating. And remember, all prices include service -- no additional tipping! All in all, this restaurant offers outstanding value. After the meal, the server brought out a creme brulee with a candle in it for my mom (gratis!). You can't go wrong with any of the other desserts, and the coffee/espresso is excellent, too. Some reviewers have complained about the size of the portions. I suspect many of these people are more interested in quantity than quality and eat rather quickly. I like to eat slowly and found the portions quite adequate (I weigh what a normal person of my height should weigh) and felt comfortably full after the meal.

A superb small French Restaurant in the heart of Emmaus. Cute decor complemented by a small but wonderful menu. The prices seem, at first, to be a bit high but when paying we found out that there is no topping allowed. In France it is called "service compris." Speaking of the service, it was excellent. Attentive, polite, and never overbearing. We went on a weekday evening and it was not very busy but we understand that on weekends reservations are needed. They had fantastic vegetarian dishes and desserts were also a highlight. I liked the farm-to-table freshness with a lighter touch but others will enjoy the more solid fare but do expect modest portions for the most part. Overall it ranks with the best the valley had to offer.

Great food, presentation could have been a bit better on my crepe. But that's not really anything to complain about. Atmosphere is great and the wait staff were johnny on the spot.

I loved that they had rabbit and beef cheek on the menu. I was uncomfortable with not leaving a tip because the service was excellent. But I guess that's the European way.

Had a great dinner here on 12/5/14. Service was top notch...and no tipping. Food quality was excellent. We had the beef cheeks, rabbit and the special was scallops. We can't wait to go back.

We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning. This is a relatively new addition to the Emmaus landscape. The outside is more modern than the surroundings but not obtrousive. It has an outdoor space just waiting for spring and summer dining. Inside , the decor is minimal but welcoming. We ordered crepes. They were fantastic. I had rainbow trout. The crepe was full of flavor ranging from the saltiness and smokey flavor of the trout to the sweetness of onions. My spouse was equally impressed with her crepe. The coffee was wonderful. The server was attentive. Great service-- great food. We are looking forward to a spring evening to spend looking at the stores in Emmaus and ending with dinner here. I have already selected my meal!

A nice addition to Emmaus' restaurant scene! We went for breakfast - we split two pastries and two crepes. The tarte was better than the chocolate croissant, but both were good! French pressed coffee was great (comes with about 4 cups). The sweet crepe was super yummy and filling, the savory crepe was good but not as full, almost more crepe than filling. The servers were very nice. They're still getting into their groove (this place has only been open a few weeks) but so far so good! Looking forward to trying lunch there soon! $30 for 2 pastries, coffee, 2 crepes, and gratuity. Gratuity is included in the check
