We wanted to try Bella Luna after Chef Ramsey's Re-do. The restaurant itself hasn't changed much on the outside but the inside feels brighter and has the typical Kitchen Nightmare decorations. Those picnic tables I've seen in some episodes are in there for larger parties. You could tell the workers were in a hurry to remodel because of some short cuts in the workmanship, but it really looked refreshed. The server was trying very hard to make sure were were happy and she did a great job checking in with us regularly. She offered wine choices and descriptions that sounded like they were promoting certain wines, but we do not drink wine. They serve water in decorative bottles and pour over lemon and ice, which is very refreshing and makes a great presentation. It felt as thought she was trying to adhere to specific training on the presentation and recommendations. The Sangria was excellent- worth the trip alone! I had Italian Sangria with red wine and Amaretto and my wife had the white wine Sangria. Very Very nice. The bread was tasty but a little under cooked. Not a major issue since it tasted good. The menu is small, as we noticed is the caseon many Kitchen Nightmare shows. A large menus replaced with a smaller, more manageable menu. The items all sounded good though! There was another online review that mentioned that they were out of Lasagne by 6:45. We were there at 6 and they were already out. An Italian restaurant must have Lasagne and it would probably be good, because the other items tasted very nice. The Calamari was the best i've tasted! Light and fresh, the dipping sauce said it was spicy but really wasnt. That was fine with us though. We loved it. I had Chicken Parm and other than needing more sauce, the chicken breast was tender and juicy and the breading was crispy. The marinara was really nice. When I asked for a doggie bag, they added more cheese and marinara into the box. My wife ordered the White Clam Linguini. The flavor was good but it was too spicy for her. The menu did not mention spiciness so we were confused. Was this a mistake? My daughter had caesar salad and it was a caesar salad. Dessert was good and OK. The Tiramisu was excellent. Tasted the coffee and it was not too sweet. The Pine Nut Tart was OK . Not that it didn't taste like it should, but I didn't think pine nuts should be put on a tart. The real disappointment was the coffee. So many restaurants skimp on coffee when often times it is the last thing a customer will taste. What is wrong with offering a cup of coffee as good or better than Dunkin Donuts? Why does it have to actually have to taste bad? Anyway, the hits if the night? Sangria, Calamari, Chicken Parm and Tiramisu. The Misses? Spicy clam sauce, Pine Nut Tart and COFFEE!!!!! The meal cost us $90 for the three of us, which seemed high, but if the clam sauce was not spicy and if I would have gotten a Great cup of coffee I would not even mention the price! I think its worth a return trip, but I wont order the coffee!

Best minestrone I have ever had. Served with fresh dollop of pesto on top. Clearly made that day with perfectly seasoned ripe vegetables. The braised short rib ragu was tender, served with real thinly sliced parmesan, basil in the most appropriate portion size I have experienced in an American Italian restaurant. No overflowing plates of pasta (aka "filler") to feed a small village here. The Bella Luna Sangria was a perfectly blended mix of sweet, bubbles and fresh fruit. It was a nice aperitif. My companion found the chicken parmesan tender, filling and tasty. There was a gentleman playing guitar (George Baird) through the entire meal -Tuesday night - that was lovely. Really talented singer and musician. Good enough to remember his name. I was impressed and pleased with the entire experience start to finish. I'll be back.

Is reasonable to say that nowadays, free soda refills has become the common practice? And is it reasonable to say if a restaurant deviates from this industry standard, it is incumbent on the server to inform the customer of the restaurant policy before repeatedly offering to refill the glasses at your table? The server at Bella Luna offered to refill our glasses again and again until we were all ready to float away. Upon arrival of the bill, we learned of the restaurant's complicated refill policy, which the server insisted was spelled out *somewhere* in the menu. I don't understand why a business would want to irritate their customers in this manner. Bella Luna also has a salad policy that does nothing except exasperate the customer. You can get chips with your dinner. Or you can get a mixed greens salad. But you can't get a Caesar's salad. It would really be fine if they charge a dollar or two extra for this kind of substitution, but the restaurant would simply not allow this accommodation. You want Caesar? You gotta order it separately. It makes no sense. Really, the salad might as well be served with a note that says, "We really don't care if you come back again. Enjoy your salad!" So with all this ranting, why 2 stars and not just 1? Well, it wouldn't be honest to completely trash this place. The food IS good. The bread was excellent. The panini were crunchy, fresh, and very tasty. The "child's size" pizza was oversized and will allow for another nice meal tomorrow. But sorry, Bella Luna. I won't be back. Your business model needs to be more appreciate of customers (particularly locals) to generate repeat visits. The business model, as it stands, is a one-visit-only model.

Chicken Francaise was amazing, the gnocchi and sausage were ok, kind of bland. Tiramisu was great, not too sweet. The sangria was awesome, nice big glass. The service, while pleasant, could not have beel slower.

The pasta dishes are some of the best I've ever had (shrimp scampi and their version of Bolognese with pesto). Order extra bread to scoop up the sauce. I'm from north NJ, I've been eating pasta for many years at great Italian restaurants. The taste of this food ranks with them. We've had the pizza as well. Very good, on par or better to other College Hill pizza. The service is definitely unrefined, no question. Currently we are playing adult bingo with our dessert. Unexpected, but fun. If you want fancy service go to Melt and overpay for mediocre food. Note to families, avoid this place after 9pm on Thursdays, definitely not kid friendly. BTW, the cannoli is bangin'. As good as Giacomo's on College Hill.

The Express Times did a positive review of this place last summer. I will never trust their reviews again. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the waitress was pleasant and the Italian wedding soup was pretty good. The Caperese was overpriced and tasteless, labeled in the menu as homemade. I now realize homemade doesn't always mean good. My main meal was the Chicken Saltimbocca, which I really do think was undercooked. I had this dish recently at the Italian Kitchen at the Sands & loved it. Bella Luna's version of this will have you wishing you ate a TV dinner. As for my dining guest, the description for the lasagna was extremely salty.

Aftet all of the hoopla with the taping of Kitchen Nightmares, we gave Bella Luna a shot. The band was good, and THAT'S it! We choose their 'buffet' so we could try a few different items. For $11 what the heck. Well, it was nothing more than fried frozen food (exactly what you can purchase at Sams Club) a few sliced sandwiches and wraps, a salad, and slices of cheese steak. Absolutely NOTHING I couldn't make tastier at home! Everything was cold because 'Chef Ramsay rearranged the kitchen and we can't find the warmer things (sterno)'. Uh....well Weis is just two doors down! The server spent most of her time running passed our table while she apologized for not getting back to us. (She took our order, delivered drinks once, and cleared dishes once, and delivered our check and not in any timely fashion. Then to top it all off, they added $10.40 for a 20% gratuity! Really?! Wow! Gordon, if you are going to dedicate your talent to distressed establishments, please pick ones worth saving!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
