Read the reviews at yelp and figured the food was really good and could worth the visit. Ended up getting to the restaurant with my husband 15 min before closing. There was no costumers anymore and were about to star cleaning up everything. When we entered the lady told us they would be closing in 15 min. I asked her: what about take out?! They promptly gave us a smile and YES we brought to the hotel a delicious, well made and fresh japanese food! Try Hawaii and Fiji rolls!

Celebrating 47 years of marriage at our favorite local restaurant. Having a tough time ordering anything different from the umami sampler - ninja, dragon rolls and mini salmon tower. All beautifully presented. My wife's Dresher Roll was spicy-sweet delight. Business was slow so we had a great chat with Courtney about the way they select their fish. They have blind tasting to get the best and freshest meats. Also, we were warned, "Jalapeños are hot just now - we grow our own and, for some reason they're hotter than usual..." Go soon and often to eat here. You won't regret it.

Go here for lunch often. Bento boxes are definitely the way to go, inexpensive but comes with a good amount of food including soup and salad. Only problem, but depends on when you arrive (ie before or after 12) service tends to slows down due to limited number of servers.

I work 5 minutes away from here. Me and my co-workers order here atleast once a week- everyone of us loves it. The inside has a cool hipster bar area than you go upstairs and its a very classy and romatic dinning area for anyone else. We honestly tried almost every meal in the takeout menu- cannot go wrong with any of them!

Umami Umami is a much needed Japanese restaurant in the area. The food is all handmade and delicious! I love the lunch specials and my favorite roll is the boom boom. The staff is friendly and helpful...it's no wonder I go back almost every week with my family!

Best suburban sushi around here parts. I tend to be stingy with 5 stars but this one is definitely deserving. We had the Umami Umami roll, which was basically crammed full of crab and other types of fish and sauces, battered and fried (!) cut up and topped with roe, and served with a Delicous squid salad. Yum! We were quite full with that and the sushi sashimi combo, which was delicious and Fresh. The salmon was buttery, almost creamy and the presentation was beautiful. I'll upload somp pics. Definately a jewel. I agree with some previous comments that this is not a low price place, but it is definately worth the value. Fried Cheese cake!!!! Done perfectly. Check out the picture of the cute orange cutting that came with the check! very attentive service.

Everything was A+. - including prices. MY NEW SUSHI SPOT! The only thing lacking was the waiter's ability to sell. We left still hungry because we didn't know that our order was only enough to feed a small child. Def not enough for two adults. Wake up guy and let us know next time! Your tip would have been bigger!!

Wow! What a delicious dinner we put down at this lovely establishment. It's in a building which has apparently been there for a while, and seems more suited from the outside to be a bank or law office or something. But inside we were greeted by a bright sushi bar, and led up the stairs beneath a tremendous, glittering chandelier. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, some pearl sake, and delicious gyoza and mussels to start. I was excited for sushi so we went ahead and got five different specialty rolls, a little too much for me and my lady to split so the whole table jumped in to help. My favorite was a crunchy crab and salmon roll, but the most memorable by far was this tower thing, all the ingredients for a delicious sushi roll (brown rice, avocado, crab, tuna) in the shape of a large stack. It was delicious, but pretty unruly, and impossible to eat with chopsticks. I stayed with sushi, but a few of us got entrees as well. A completely filling dinner for five came to a reasonable $240 with tip. Not bad at all. I'll be back to try some of the rolls I missed - this was some delicious, beautifully presented sushi. Very impressive.

Amazing! This is now our favorite restaurant. The ambiance is great, the staff are wonderfully friendly and truly care about your dining experience, and the food tastes great and looks like a work of art! My wife and I come here often and have never been disappointed. We have had the bento box and sushi lunch special (see pics) and the tuna tower and sushi platter for dinner. Amazingness. Definitely try the tuna tower for a unique culinary delight.

Went for lunch and got the chicken teriyaki bento. Nice ambiance in a great location for a lot of people to go for lunch from work. Service left a little bit to be desired. Eight of us ordered bento, and server correctly delivered about 50% of those. The combinations of chicken or beef, katsu or teriyaki, and white or wild rice was too much detail to get correct eight times in a row. The price was just okay. $10 was a little steep for the amount of food, but the amount of food was just right for lunch. If the bento was $8, I would've given another star for value. I glanced over the regular menu and the prices were similar for a higher-scale Japanese restaurant. They just didn't deliver on the higher-scale Japanese restaurant experience. Maybe another try after they're up off the ground will be a smoother experience.

Random colonial style building with a surprising decor inside. The ambiance is the best part about the restaurant in a random suburban town. On the other hand, the food is below average. Over-priced, extremely slow service, no eel sushi for a boat???, everything was just underwhelming. Not to mention it took an hour just to get our udon noodles on a slow night.

I quickly became a fan of Umami Umami after tried first time. They have various bento menu at lunch time with good quality vs. price and their sushi is the one of the best in town. I'm simply glad that there is Sushi place keeping this quality level comparable to very nice ones in the city. Their ninja roll is pretty good and always enjoyed yellow tail and tuna sushi. They have sometimes specially fresh sushi chef can recommend, so, feel free to ask to staff about recommended & fresh special one. Won't regret if you are sushi fan. Very good for group outing at lunch time as well as family dinner. I often go for take out. Strongly recommended japanese restaurant in town and couldn't find any comparable one yet. Staffs are very friendly and serving guests well.

I've had food from here a number of times now - both eat-in and take-out. I've been impressed with the quality of their stuff, especially given the 'burb location. Yeah they've still got some early-opening issues to work through, but the food is solid - and that's the point of getting food from restaurants, right?

First of all I didn't know it would take 30 minutes for food for takeout on a friday night., i was salty i was soo hungry. The sushi was delicious after all the wait. I had california and shrimp tempura roll. I interior was soo nice, the stairs are high but its pretty upstairs. The servers seem lovable. I would love to go on a date here! The outside looks like a old house. Would recommend it 5 stars

Let me start by saying - this is the best sushi in Montgomery County. Better than Ooka. I've driven by this place hundreds of times, but finally decided to take the plunge. Impeccably clean. Friendly staff. And the sushi is absolutely beautifully prepared and delicious. Try the Tour of Japan, the Rainbow Roll, and the sampler. Outstanding.

This is my wife's and mine favorite sushi place. Love the food, waiters are great (Eric is the best) and its a nice quite little place. We moved in the are 1year ago and now are regular customers at umami .my favorite is the Ninja ( bit spicy) ,wife loves the Hawain. If you dig sushi have to try umami and hope Eric is your waiter. :)

Nice decor and comfortable booths. Friendly staff- served us even though we walked in the door after 9:30pm. This place is a Japanese and Chinese place. The steamed dumplings were excellent. I would recommend the tiger roll which had a lot of fish and tasty roe. The Mizo soup and Ginger salad were pretty good. The food came out quickly. I had the spicy roll combo, which was solid. We were served tea right as we sat down. Then came fried won tons and at the end of the meal was traditional fortune cookie and fresh orange slices which were a nice touch.

Painfully slow service, mediocre food & unaccommodating! 5 of us went for dinner on Friday night. The restaurant was half empty. Our wine came right away, but then even the steamed edamame took forever! The ginger dressing was watery - making the salad insipid. Gyoza and bibimbap were fine. Sushi was lackluster - they were not willing to make any sushi that was off menu because the sushi bar was "backed up"!!! Can't imagine how they would handle quests if the restaurant was full. Sushi was not very skillfully rolled tight. The decor claims it is zen, but we had our doubts right at the long passage entrance followed by a flight of steps. Sushi bar is tucked in a corner on the first floor and the dining room was sparse. Servers had to run up and down with the food, making the service even slower. For better Japanese food try Blue Fin, Kumo, Surah and Fuji. Never going back!

Had lunch here with a group of four. Everyone enjoyed it, the food was fresh and very tasty. Great for those who love sushi. I don't eat raw seafood, but they had plenty of other selections. Food was excellent but service was very slow and we had to keep flagging down wait staff. It took 20 minutes for a waiter to give us menus and then take our order. Then we waited over 35 minutes more for some fairly simple lunch dishes. All had versions of bento box lunches which from all reports were good, everyone was happy with the food. If I hadn't been with other, more patient people, I would have left. The service should have been better. It was like we were forgotten. I would consider trying again but if service is this bad again, I will never go back or recommend it.

First and foremost, the host/waitress was amazing and so hospitable to us. Wish I had gotten her name, but thank you so much! I enjoyed my meal at Umami Umami, despite the seemingly out of place outside decor and generic insides. There is certainly ample parking here, and when you approach the outside of the building it looks a bit like a plantation style old stone building. Inside is split into 2 levels, the bottom being just the sushi bar and the upstairs a main dining area. Maybe it was because we ate at an off time, but the upstairs just seemed a little isolated and there wasn't much to see or look at. The food was excellent, and really was tastefully done both artistically and for the palette. Everything we got was prepared fresh and looked amazing on the plate. I do think for my taste it was a bit salty (overload of sauces), but overall really enjoyable. For 5 people and 5 rolls/dishes our total was $95. I would definitely come back.

I love sushi but I found umami only alright. I didn't like that almost 95 percent of their sushi contained crab, since I can't eat it as it as it makes me sick. I can only eat sushi containing fish. I wish there was more variety in their rolls. even with the lack variety I thought the rolls I managed to get were okay. personally thought they were chewy or mushy. a little overpriced in my opinion as well.

Had high hopes because of the excellent reviews and lovely decor. However, even though the restaurant was almost completely empty (from the time we arrived until the time we left), the service was unbelievably slow and inattentive. Our appetizer was brought after our entree, because our waiter "wasn't sure if we had received it already, since it had taken so long." What?! And the food was mediocre at best, certainly not making up for the ridiculous wait. The avocado they used was not ripe enough, the salmon not as silky smooth as it should be, and the spicy tuna was so overly spicy it was challenging to eat. Dessert was equally unimpressive. Will not return here.

We went to dinner early, around 5 - and we didn't enjoy our meal as much as our previous visits. We knew this place would be expensive, as it always is, but the service and the sushi are usually better. I would pass and head into town if you really are feeling sushi.

The food is excellent but the service was very slow. We didn't mind too much because we had wine but yeah. The udon was out of this world though. My wife had the bidimbop which was also excellent. Definitely worth your time, but only if you have a good chunk of time to spare...

Our favorite sushi restaurant. Everything is fresh and tasty. Our 13 year old loves the shu mai and California roll. My husband loves the dolset bibimbap, ninja roll for me. Both lunch and dinner are great.

This establishment a wonderful addition to the overcrowded sushi restaurant scene in Montgomery County. Umami occupies the former Dresher Inn and is located just off the Dresher triangle. The exterior of the building has remained mostly untouched but the interior has seen major changes. The sushi bar is located directly opposite the front door and you can expect a warm welcome from the sushi chef's as you enter. The waiting area has high ceilings and its highlighted by a grand chandelier. Dark wood lines the large stairs that are flanked by fresh flowers. As you make it up to the large dining area there's several tables and plenty of room to relax. After perusing the large menu I settled on the Sushi & Sashimi combo ($40). The combo came with 5 pieces of sushi, 8 pieces of sashimi, soup & salad. The miso soup was average & the salad wasn't much better. I love ginger dressing but their dressing was very thick and bland. The combo platter was ascetically pleasing and tasted even better! The sashimi pieces were cut to normal length but were much thicker than most other places in the area. The fish was the perfect temperature and extremely fresh. Along with the combo you get a tuna roll. The roll was tasty but Extremely small. Overall I give my meal a solid B+. My friend ordered the Salmon Tower( $17). The tower is constructed of rice, crab meat, avocado & Salmon. It comes out as the name states in a "tower" or large cylinder. The plate is adorned with several brightly colored sauces. This meal is very filling. My opinion of all sushi restaurants is based mostly on their sashimi. Don't get me wrong I love a good roll but its too easy to mask the fish with spicy mayo or other ingredients. Umami's sashimi is as good as any I've had locally. Sushi is pricey by nature but I feel that this restaurant is priced a bit higher then it should be. Umai in Lansdale is still the best in the area but Umami isn't too far behind them.

Impressed. First off, the decor: huge, beautiful chandelier that lights up a flight of stairs to a spacious second floor. The first floor has the sushi bar and more casual seating. Second, the food: - Tuna Tar Tar: very good. They seem to mince the tuna, but there's a fairly large spread on fried dumpling shells. This blows Makiman's tuna quesadilla out of the water, easily. You get 6 HUGE pieces. - Agedashi Tofu: satisfactory. Tofu was light a bit bland, and the fried coat seemed to not mesh well with it. The sauce was also bland and unremarkable. Skip. - Volcano Roll: PACKED with flavor. After a few, it was a little overwhelming, but very tasty. - Spider Roll: tasty, but nothing to write home about. - Lobster Roll: see above. Looking at the menu, it might seem a bit pricey, but the portions are large for a sushi restaurant. The appetizers themselves can be mini-entrees, and the rolls are packed with fish and rice. There are a lot of creative roll options, non-sushi Japanese food, Korean food and sake mixes. Can't say anything was extraordinary, but the food was tasty and better-than-your-average sushi place.

So good it was the first restaurant choice on a 13 year olds birthday dinner wish list when given ANY option. Red dragon roll is dynamite! As is any roll really. Very large portions, you won't leave hungry. To get a sense of how good the management is--Cindy came out to the car upon us departing to give us a dessert dish in a champagne glass with 2 spoons. She's warm, friendly, involved in service, and will have a dynamic conversation with you and your table for as long as you wish. Lots of great stories to hear if you like.

U2 is a really nice find. We tried it out the Friday after Thanksgiving. What a treat. The oyster shooters are large and interesting. You need a slug of sake to wash it down. Not for everybody, but very tasty. Did I mention they have a beer-wine license!!! Very cool. This is the first sushi bar in the area (that I found) serving beer and sake. It was a great change of pace NOT to bring your own. Nice touch. Cindy -- the hostess -- is wonderful. She gave us a brief history of the restaurant, and was very gracious. The sushi is fresh, and the rolls were really good. For me, Tako is always the litmus test for a sushi bar. U2 passed with flying colors. It was the most flavorful, least rubbery Tako I've tasted in a while. Hats off to the chefs. More importantly, we're heading back this Friday for more.

This place is absolutely incredible! If you like sushi, don't wait any longer to go there. The food is delicious and fresh, the prices are very reasonable and the service is great! They also did an amazing job hosting my bridal shower- thank you Umami!

Awesome little sushi place in a converted inn. Drove by a ton of times and never would have thought this place had good food, nevertheless fresh sushi, but glad to say I was wrong. I absolutely love this place. I've never had better or fresher sushi. It's on the pricier side, so I stick to lunch where they have some decent specials. I usually get the two roll lunch. It's more than enough for one person. I think it's $11. I found the three roll lunch is too much food for me. The Alaskan roll is out of this world. The lunch comes with miso soup or salad. I usually get the miso soup and it's consistently delicious. I found the salad to be disappointing. It's too cold and smothered in an overpowering dressing. That's right, I said it's too cold. It felt like the ingredients were stored in a freezer. The bento box is also delicious and priced reasonably. The staff is wonderful. The building is clean and very nice. They even give you this delicious orange that's drizzled with some kind of honey glaze for free after lunch. I can't get enough of this place!

Hosted a 30th birthday party here...the staff was very friendly & accommodating. One staff member specifically-Cindy K.H. was an angel who helped facilitate the planning. I requested outside seating and they had it set it up with great finesse for the event. The food was so delicious...for a second I thought I was downtown dining. Super clean facilities, lots of parking, amazing food- what more could one ask for?

Found out they have been open since November. I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was really nice, a beautiful chandelier hangs in the foyer leading to the upper floor. I ordered the Bento box Chicken Katsu Lunch Special, it was very good and they were accommodating to my changing some of the items that come with it. Everything was very tasty, service was fast and friendly. They also serve beer and wine! Definitely a bonus! :D I will be returning for lunch in the future!

Every time I've driven by Umami Umami (frequently, as it's practically on Susquehanna near the Virginia Drive Turnpike entrance*), I've been intrigued. I finally visited on a Saturday night a week or so ago. As others have mentioned, this restaurant looks like a bank; situated in a colonial building with Japanese windows set inside, you may be confused by the gigantic glass chandelier as you walk past the first-floor sushi bar, up to the restaurant seating on the upper floor. We arrived around 8:00, and by the time we left, we had closed the place down. I went with my husband and a friend, and we ordered several items. The vegetable gyoza were the favorite, hands down. The dough was light, the filling was scrumptious, including whole edamame to balance the shredded stuffing. These were absolutely amazing. We also ordered sushi rolls: sweet potato tempura, avocado, and avocado and cucumber. The avo & cuc ones were nice and refreshing, and the sweet potato ones were rich and filling. I appreciate having a variety of sushi choices, which is a little difficult to find in the suburbs. The wasbi is also of note -- it was whipped, light, and hot. You know those places with weak wasabi? This ain't one of them. The disappointment is in the price. We also ordered a hibachi vegetable dinner ($17) that would have been acceptable for $12. All in all, we spent nearly $100 on the three of us -- which is a more than a little high. They offered some kind of text discount, but I'd rather just have the prices be fair rather than search out a discount and be a couponer (cringe). I can[t see myself coming back - except maybe for a roll, the gyoza, and a drink. One last thing to note -- the iced tea was spectacular. I was seriously impressed. *I realize this reference will only make sense to suburbanites.

We live around the corner from Umami Umami and chose not to eat there because the parking lot seemed to be always fairly empty. After reading the great reviews online, we decided to give it a try. The sushi was not good!!! It was at least one day past it's prime and was not fresh!!! While the vegetables in the tempura were tasty, the shrimp had a different coating. It was thick and hard and tasted like KFC. The fried Umami dumplings were fair, but also seemed to have been overcooked. The one positive was the free dessert, a naval orange with honey and cinnamon which was delicious. Would not return or recommend. There is a reason the parking lot is empty.

We got salmon in teriyaki sauce and soba noodles with beef. Both of us finished our meals (no take-homes) and didn't feel overlystuffed or bloated in the least. The only bad thing (and the reason for only four stars, not five) was the house salad was blase'. The ingredients were less than impressive. The vegetables looked tired and sad. They give you the cutest dessert we've ever seen. It's a little orange that's been sectioned and a glaze of cinnamon and sugar poured over it. It was delicious! Not crowded at all, the tables were nicely spaced so you were not sitting on top of the party next to you. The lady who waited on us (Cindy K.) was very personable, even gave me "trainers" for my chop sticks. Still didn't master the sticks so I had to use a fork. Looking forward to trying again.

I grew up in Fort Washington and have been waiting for something cool to go into the old Dresher Inn. Once I moved back into the area my wife and I went to Umami Umami and with recommendations from my mom, we both ordered the "Tuna Tower". All I can say is that it was one of the best sushi dishes I have ever had! This first visit was probably about a year ago and we go at least once or twice every 2 weeks. One of my offices is in the Dreshertown Shopping Plaza so needless to say I order take out everytime I'm at that location. It's to the point where the staff knows me by name and I don't even have to order (unless I feel like switching it up). Umami is our sushi restaurant of choice and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who love sushi and doesn't want to drive into the city.

Creative and unique sushi restaurant in a lovely space. The specialty rolls are so flavorful, with sauces that add a great dimension to traditional sushi. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old building that has been empty for years. It's not very well marked. I will definitely return.

Umami Umami is a gem of a restaurant, tucked away in Dreshertown. They have delicious food, friendly staff, a pleasant ambiance, and easy, ample parking. My spouse and I have been twice now, and both times the food has been stellar. WIth the sushi, everything was high quality, including the fresh wasabi--a nice touch. They do a beautiful job with presentation. My personal favorite is the caterpillar roll, but all of it was tasty. In terms of drinks, we particularly enjoyed the cold sake and the green and brown rice tea. Most of the dessert offerings were not specifically asian, but what we had was nevertheless amazing--a limoncello gelato that was light, refreshing and ended up being a perfect finish to our sushi meal. To cap it all off, we were served fresh orange slices with a cinnamon syrup that was out of this world. The entire experience was a treat. We will be returning regularly.

This sushi restaurant was close to my hotel and so I wanted to give it try. It is located in an inn. Once inside the ground floor is the sushi bar and sushi chef was behind the bar. The main dinning area is upstairs. I ate at the sushi bar so I didn't see what upstairs looks like. Ground floor is modern in style. Appetizer: Here is one for oyster lover. Oyster shooter (oyster and raw quail egg in a saki-based broth), very exotic, oyster is sweet and you take a sip of sake with the oyster and quail egg. Main course: I like the Corona roll (creamy spicy tuna, white tuna, avocado, in lime sauce) and scallop sashimi (sashimi nicely sat on crafted cucumber, very tasty with fresh lemon juice and soy sauce). I had green tea mochi for dessert. Umami took this simple dessert and decorated it with fruit to make it a beautiful and stylish. Finally, Orange dessert gift from the chef was again a piece of art, nice! I will definitely return to umami next time I am in spring house area.

It's really rare that i give any restaurant five stars, but this just might be the best sushi joint I've ever been to. This place is pricey but it's worth the ambience, service, and the holy-shit-it's-fantastic food. The sushi is the best I've ever had, and I am a bit of a sushi snob. It's very conducive to groups or just a nice one on one setting. Great place!

Here we have another Japanese resturant that is run by non Japanese (Korean's). Is this a bad thing? Not in this case. The presentation is very fancy. For the appetizer I had the shrimp Umami Dumpling. It was good. For the entree I had the Yaki Soba with chicken. This is when you know you are not in a true Japanese resturant. Soba noodles are buckwheat noodles. I was served the one dollar oodles of noodles. It was fine and the sauce was okay. The waiter said they are really considered Asian Fusion, so If you are in the mode for true Japanese food then this is not the place for you. J-sun has spoken

Definitely, 4+ stars! Wish we had found it sooner. From the moment we were greeted Cindy, it was a fantastic experience for our party of 4 celebrating a family birthday. We are big sushi lovers, and Umami Umami compared to the very best. We had 5 special rolls, The Tower, Umami Umami Roll, Corona Roll, Boom Boom, and Volcano. All were outstanding, but I really liked the Tower because I hadn't had anything like it before. We started our meal with sake (warm and cold pear) which was very good and well -priced. Our appetizers were Tuna Tar Tar, which was a plate of fried dumpling wrapper rounds topped with a spicy tuna. There were 6 of them the size of English Muffins! Delicious. Also, we ordered Chuka Ika, which was a marinated calamari salad over cucumbers. This was my personal favorite. It turns out that we had no need to order a separate order of it because there was a generous portion of Chuka Ika on each of our special roll plates (5 in all!!) We ended our dinner with some mochi, a pyramid dessert (chocolate mousse with caramel dusted in powdered chocolate and shaped like a pyramid) and a slice of complimentary deep fried cheesecake for the birthday boy. Everything was delicious, fresh, creative, and beautifully presented. The decor was very nice inside and there was a lovely outside dining area as well. The staff could not have been any nicer. We had a lot of food and took home a good sized doggie bag. Our bill was $144 plus tax and tip for 4 big sushi eaters. I did not feel that this was overpriced at all, compared to other sushi venues, and considering the quality and portion size of the food and the total dining experience. We will definitely be back. I can't wait to try some of the Korean dishes on the menu, as well.

The service was great, but I thought the sushi was over-priced for what it was. I've had fresher-tasting sashimi for the same price in this area, and the rolls were not my favourite. Still pretty good, but I just prefer other places!

T and I tried Umami Umami on Friday in hopes of finding another sushi option in our area. The restaurant is really nice, I believe there was just a renovation. Dark wood floor and huge sparkling chandeliers made a great, airy space. The menu is pretty extensive with some options we'd never seen before including some sort of sushi pyramid with spicy tuna or salmon, wild rice, crab and avocado. The table next to us ordered one and it looked pretty interesting. We started with the jalapeno spicy tuna which was a spicy tuna and cream cheese wrapped in a jalapeno and deep fried. It was served with spicy sauce drizzled on top. It was really good but I would have liked it to be hotter. Temperature-wise, not spice-wise. For dinner I got the Philadelphia roll and another roll that I can't remember the name of. It had tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, eel, asparagus ... it was very good and quite large. I didn't care for the spicy tuna here. It was kind of whipped instead of chunky. I prefer the other texture of spicy tuna better. T had the eel and avocado roll and the Hawaiian roll (crab, cucumber, avocado and shiitake mushroom topped with mango, chef's sauce, sliced almonds, masago and tempura flakes). It was ... odd ... there was an odd herb or spice or something that we really didn't like. And it didn't taste as fresh as other sushi we've had. Now a note on service. I wanted to be best friends with our waiter. He was fabulous. I felt bad for him because he and another guy had the entire restaurant to serve but even then, he did a great job with us. I would bump up the review another 1/2 star if I could, just for him. I hate to compare and I try really hard not to with my reviews but with Bluefin and Ooka in the area, I don't really feel the need to ever return. Also, it was EXPENSIVE. We spent over $100 for a meal that was just okay. I hate that.

I think Umami Umami has the best sushi in the area. They have a large menu with a lot of innovative rolls. The food always tastes great and while it's not the cheapest, it's totally worth the money. The service can sometimes be a little slow due to their large number of take-out orders and the layout of the restaurant is pretty weird. However, I'd give this place a shot if you like quality Japanese food.

This is my new favorite sushi restaurant, and I'll be back again and again. Umami Umami's sushi is filling, and tastes amazing. The combination of sauces and sushi puts this spot on top of any place around here. While I was at the restaurant I ate the Dragon roll, Ninja roll, and the Corona roll. All 3 of these rolls blew me away and I'd recommend them to anyone that ventures in there. 5 stars.

This is truly a hidden gem....Excellent Japanese/Korean cuisine in a location you would least expect...Started off with the dragon balls (a special at the time), edamame and the salad w ginger dressing...All were made fresh and the ginger dressing was some of the best I have had...For dinner we had the Sushi roll sampler, which had a sampling of the restaurants three most popular selections, and Dolsot Bibimbap, which is a Korean dish we wanted to try. The sushi was top notch and the Bibimbap was really tasty....It was our first Bibimbap experience and I would have to say it was very satisfying....Will definitely return

Came here after Ooka had a wait, and cannot be happier that there was a wait there otherwise I never would have come to this gem. Much better than Ooka, the staff was great and the food was amazing. Can't wait to get back there.

FaNtastic restaurant! As usual I went by the yelp reviews. They were spot on. Started with the sushi sampler, delicious. Themn had the fried fish with bbq sauce. For a treat and sometHing different had some saki. Looking forwArd to a return visit. Highly recommended.

:D I will be returning for lunch in the future!

wow! volcano rolls and zaya rolls were both artistic and tasty! super yummy like the beautiful woman with whom i dined. (her mom was there too). miso good. the chandelier at the entrance was a little cheesy. attentive servers. got 10% off by signing up for texts. easy. definitely be back! word!

Go here for lunch often. Bento boxes are definitely the way to go, inexpensive but comes with a good amount of food including soup and salad. Only problem, but depends on when you arrive (ie before or after 12) service tends to slows down due to limited number of servers.

Crunch and munch roll is amazing, as well as the yakisoba for those who might not like sushi. Service is always great and we never have to wait for a table. The appetizers are also yummy! Can't wait to continue coming back to try new dishes!

This place is absolutely incredible! If you like sushi, don't wait any longer to go there. The food is delicious and fresh, the prices are very reasonable and the service is great! My husband and I go here a few times a month- our favorite is the Spicy Tuna Tower- awesome! Save room for dessert too because they are all yummy! They also did an amazing job hosting my bridal shower- thank you Umami!

I had a great meal here on New Year's Day with the family. We were here for my brother's birthday. The service was fantastic. The Dragon roll was great. My boyfriend really liked the vegetarian hibachi dish. The chicken hibachi dish was great as well. We are all definitely coming back soon.

5 stars.

(5)Scott C.
Go here for lunch often. Bento boxes are definitely the way to go, inexpensive but comes with a good amount of food including soup and salad. Only problem, but depends on when you arrive (ie before or after 12) service tends to slows down due to limited number of servers.

(5)Jim T.
(5)Kevin O.
Really great sushi if a bit on the expensive side. Service is generally prompt and friendly and they will give good advice on how much to order. Some very creative sushi options.
(4)Michaela M.
(4)Niti S.
(1)Jessica H.

FaNtastic restaurant! As usual I went by the yelp reviews. They were spot on. Started with the sushi sampler, delicious. Themn had the fried fish with bbq sauce. For a treat and sometHing different had some saki. Looking forwArd to a return visit. Highly recommended.

Boom Boom roll should be renamed Boom Boomtastic Roll, because I just literally had a party inside my mouth!!! Yet another awesome takeout experience at this sushi place!
(5)Cristian T.
Great sushi. Good ambiance. Good warm Saki. Squid salad was Great and big. I will be back here if my travels bring me this way again.
(5)Natalie S.
(3)Dani L.
(1)M B.
We went to dinner early, around 5 - and we didn't enjoy our meal as much as our previous visits. We knew this place would be expensive, as it always is, but the service and the sushi are usually better. I would pass and head into town if you really are feeling sushi.
(3)Chris S.
The food is excellent but the service was very slow. We didn't mind too much because we had wine but yeah. The udon was out of this world though. My wife had the bidimbop which was also excellent. Definitely worth your time, but only if you have a good chunk of time to spare...
(4)Amy W.

Came here after Ooka had a wait, and cannot be happier that there was a wait there otherwise I never would have come to this gem. Much better than Ooka, the staff was great and the food was amazing. Can't wait to get back there.

Awesome little sushi place in a converted inn. Drove by a ton of times and never would have thought this place had good food, nevertheless fresh sushi, but glad to say I was wrong. Super fresh sashimi and the special rolls are very unique, tasty, and well presented. Awesome little sushi place in a converted inn.

:D I will be returning for lunch in the future!

wow! volcano rolls and zaya rolls were both artistic and tasty! super yummy like the beautiful woman with whom i dined. (her mom was there too). miso good. the chandelier at the entrance was a little cheesy. attentive servers. got 10% off by signing up for texts. easy. definitely be back! word!

Food was great, service was great, ambience was great. The only thing lacking with the waiter's ability to sell. We left still hungry because we didn't know that our order was only enough to feed a small child. Our bad

I had a great meal here on New Year's Day with the family. We were here for my brother's birthday. The service was fantastic. The Dragon roll was great. My boyfriend really liked the vegetarian hibachi dish. The chicken hibachi dish was great as well. We are all definitely coming back soon.

(5)Erika B.

Good food. Poor service. We had reservations and they kept us waiting for 15 minutes despite not being busy. I think I'll frequent another sushi restaurant

(5)Sara R.
Crunch and munch roll is amazing, as well as the yakisoba for those who might not like sushi. Service is always great and we never have to wait for a table. The appetizers are also yummy! Can't wait to continue coming back to try new dishes!
(4)Matt C.
Delicious sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Staff was very attentive and nice. Very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back and recommend to friends!
(5)Jordan R.
Great sushi, reasonable prices and friendly servers.
(5)Tina R.
I always come here for their volcano mussels, the tower, and volcano rolls! They're the best!
(5)Shannon O.
Wonderfully fresh and delicious food with friendly service, nice atmosphere and remarkably clean facilities. We loved it!

(4)Shana R.

(3)Jane C.
(4)Anthony B.
5 stars.
(5)Tesh S.
(5)David L.
Excellent in every way!!!! Superb service and decor and all food (served to the 4 of us), especially, the sushi sampler !! We should have stopped here months ago!
(5)Melanie B.
awesome lunch specials! pricier than some other sushi places, but definitely higher quality. worth it!
(5)Rob R.
Another over-priced sushi house. Food. Is not bad, but not great.

Came here after Ooka had a wait, and cannot be happier that there was a wait there otherwise I never would have come to this gem. Much better than Ooka, the staff was great and the food was amazing. Can't wait to get back there.
(4)Fred R.
The wife and I have been trying to get here and finally made it. A good friend who eats there often highly recommended it and now we know why. Dinner was Awesome! Can't wait to go back.
(5)Mark A.
Sushi fan? You can't go wrong here.. Great staff and extremely fresh and favorable menu.. A great wine / bar selection as well... Reasonable too...
(4)Natalie S.
(3)Steve B.

(5)Dani L.
(4)Amy W.
Our favorite sushi restaurant. Everything is fresh and tasty. Our 13 year old loves the shu mai and California roll. My husband loves the dolset bibimbap, ninja roll for me. Both lunch and dinner are great.

Go here for lunch often. Bento boxes are definitely the way to go, inexpensive but comes with a good amount of food including soup and salad. Only problem, but depends on when you arrive (ie before or after 12) service tends to slows down due to limited number of servers.
(4)Jenny K.
Great bento boxes for lunch. Takes a bit of time though to get your food, but it's always worth the wait. Wait staff is great to be around.
(3)Kevin O.
Really great sushi if a bit on the expensive side. Service is generally prompt and friendly and they will give good advice on how much to order. Some very creative sushi options.

(5)Mike Z.
(5)Sharell S.
(5)Rob R.

Delicious sushi, sashimi, and rolls. Staff was very attentive and nice. Very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back and recommend to friends!

My husband and I go here a few times a month- our favorite is the Spicy Tuna Tower- awesome! Save room for dessert too because they are all yummy! They also did an amazing job hosting my bridal shower- thank you Umami!

Delicious dishes and fresh, quality fish. Bento box was a great value for lunch.

Their rolls were amazing.

5 stars.

Excellent in every way!!!! Superb service and decor and all food (served to the 4 of us), especially, the sushi sampler !! We should have stopped here months ago!

Great little place, extremely nice decor and great friendly service. The interior is gorgeous and the food is delicious, great sushi and wine! We had a great time here for a fathers day meal. Highly recommended!

I got sick as a dog the food was the worst ever, service was bad. It was the worst night out I have ever had Will never go back

Delicious food, creative rolls, friendly service and a great environment.
