I'm not from the Philly area, so hoagies are new to me. As a kid watching The Cosby Show, I could never quite understand why Clair was always getting onto Cliff when he'd eat hoagies at night. I mean, it's a sandwich, and sandwiches aren't too unhealthy, right? After eating at Primo, I can now understand Clair's side. I know what a hoagie is. I'd never given the various Primo locations a second thought because I'd assumed they didn't have much to offer vegetarians. There's plenty, though, if you can get past the section of the menu that groups tuna in with the "Meatless Delights" selection. FYI, they also have a hot eggplant parm sandwich on their in-store menu that isn't posted online. I enjoy Nonna's Veggie -- this is a heavy, filling, more-than-a-sandwich hoagie. The calorie count on the menu board is in the 300s, but there is no way that is accurate. Let's triple that. The sesame seed bread holds thick slices of Provolone, cold breaded eggplant, and broccoli rabe that's deliciously oily and garlicky. Top it with some roasted red peppers and you have the best veggie hoagie I've ever had. This location is always crowded, even when I think I'm going at an off-peak time. And I suspect they don't always make the call ahead orders until the customer shows up. But a sandwich (okay, hoagie) this dense is a once in a while treat that's worth the wait.

Their hoagies are pretty good, assuming you can get them made correctly. Picked up a call-in order and while I was waiting in line to pickup my order, two people in front of me had order errors. I paid for my order (at a cost about $9 per sandwich for the normal half size ("Primo size"). Two sandwiches and a bag of chips ran $22.xx after tax. Both hoagies were missing items specifically asked for in their order -- one was actually missing both lettuce and tomato. At that cost you'd expect better care taken when making the sandwiches. Not worth the cost. You're better off heading to Lee's -- cheaper and better -- and they take better care of their customers.

Well I think this place makes the best subs I have ever had. The fresh Italian bread is the secret and the long hot peppers are sinfully delectable. I always order the ITALIAN DIABLO: Hot Sopressata, Sharp Provolone, Thumanns Capacola & a Blend of Spices minus the cheese and add xtra long hot peppers. How I miss thee. This place does catering and is very clean and new. Seriously, this place is no joke. Meat lovers will be pleased at the thickness of the meats in their hoagies- really its no joke.

Primo Hoagies are hands down the best hoagie, sub, hero, whatever you call it depending on where you're from. I've read somewhere that Philadelphia is the sandwich capital of the world, and it's hard to argue that considering all the great cheesesteaks, hoagies, roast pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and deli sandwiches this area produces. And might I add we probably are one of the fattest cities also. But who cares when we got great food! I frigging love food!!! Now back to the Hoagie. In Philadelphia, as far as hoagies are concerned, we got Lee's Hoagies, Wawa, Slack's Hoagies, Planet Hoagies, Sarcone's Bakery, endless amount of Mom and Pop's shop, and also some brave outsiders like Subway and Quiznos who dare to have enough balls to come to our town and try to sell their corporate created "sandwiches" and attempt to compete with these Philly born establishments. Ever try Subway's "Philly" cheesesteak?? Bhuahahaha!!!! Who you foolin? We are the sandwich capital of the world! We know sandwiches. Before we even knew what a Bada Bing hoagie was, Philly had a well established shops for hoagies and we were content. But then...... Primo Hoagies came along out of nowhere from South Philly and took the hoagie to a new level. A true game changer. How often do we see Primo-like seeded rolls being copied by (ah hem, Lee's) others? The roll, I believe is the most crucial part of any sandwich. Primo's bread is out of this world! It has great balance between density, texture, and taste. It's dense enough that when you bite into it, your not chewing air bubbles and not so heavy like a cake or a muffin. Its perfect! The texture I can only describe what my nerves of my mouth and tongue experience when I take a bite. First, when the teeth penetrate the outer part of the bread my lips are already touching the bread. As I feel the seeds with my lips and the crunch from the bite of my teeth breaking the outer layer of this wonderful masterpiece of a bread tells me that in a nanosecond I will feel and taste the inner part of the roll, all the while my tongue still feeling the slightly flaky outer part of the roll. Mmmmmm. Mmmmm mmmmmmmmmm!!!! And then the meat!!! Primo slices their meat and cheese made to order, and very thinly. Because the meat is sliced thin it gives a great texture when you sink your teeth into it. If you get meat that is seasoned on the outside, the way Primo slices it thin lets you taste the seasoning thought out the bite. There are no concentrated area of seasoning while other parts of the meat in the hoagie is absent of seasoning. This gives you a taste of everything in one bite. What geniuses!! These guys really thought this through like rocket scientists when designing these hoagies! Once you have an entire bite of a Primo you pretty much have all the ingredients in your mouth and can enjoy all the blend of taste from each ingredient as you chew on it. The flavors of the meat, cheese, roll, and the fresh toppings, are vibrant and stimulates your tongue in full HD. It is heavenly deeeeeeeeeeelicious! I live in the Dresher area, and I'm blessed to have a Primo Hoagies nearby my house. I'm a long time customer and absolutely love these hoagies. They are on the pricey side but you get what you pay. Comparing Primos to Wawa or Lee's is like comparing a Ferrari to a Kia. There is nothing wrong with a Kia, but if you got some extra flow and can afford it, I'll drive the Ferrari and enjoy the ride! Woohoo!!

Primo's is one of the best hoagie spots around. They only use high quality meats and their rolls are fantastic. I know their prices are a bit higher then most places but you do get what you pay for.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
