I was so disappointed. The risotto I got tasted like glue and the scallops were cold and rubbery. My husband enjoyed his steak, however. The service was OK. But we spent a fortune on an AWFUL meal and felt rushed. They sent us a 10.00 coupon....they can keep it.

Food isn't the best but isn't the worst. Service is great. This restaurant really caters to the older crowd. If you are 60 or older, this place rocks! Otherwise, so boring (bar) and snooze regarding taste.

They really fixed this place up. Nice new bar. Food was good and menu had a nice selection. I was there at 4:30 on a Sunday and the place was wide open.

Bottom line first: Good food, nice service, a little pricey for what you get. We have been for both lunch and dinner. Each time we have been we were happy with the food, but nothing that was a surprise treat. We probably just have not found it on the menu yet, because I gotta believe that it is there. The renovations that they have made on the building, however, are a treat and are quite exquisite. They took a building that could have been used as the set of an old western movie and turned it into a refined restaurant. The front porch is now an enclosed area with table seating. But they did not just throw up some plywood and windows and called it done, they truly built an addition to the building.

Great food, extensive menu. I enjoy their pasta dishes, as well as seafood. Appetizers are good, as well as desserts. The inside holds a good amount of people without being crowded. I do think some items are rather pricey, but I don't mind so much since there are very few decent classy restaurants in the area.

Seemed really popular because of the number of cars parked outside but surprisingly there was a lot of tables available inside. Mostly pasta choices on the menu. I had the Chicken Jarrettown. It was quite bland though creamy. I wish it had more diced tomatoes. Nice sized portions. Asparagus was cooked just right. Angel hair pasta was cooked just right. My dining partner had the Tuna Ahi which was served seared. She commented that the black peppers made it hot and didn't care for that part though she was happy with the quality of the food. The rice was flavored which she did not like. Service was below average. I think during the meal, we were visited only twice, both times at the beginning of the meal, however, as soon as we finished our plates, someone was there to take them. Sadly, this wasn't our server so we were still waiting for the "coffee or dessert" question. By the time that happened, we were anxious to leave.

This was our first visit since renovating... They real did a great job remodeling. We had a drink in the bar area, very nice bar with a nice selection of beers on tap and a large flat screen TV. Food and and service was good.... Hence the three stars... Only problem I had was with the pricing... The menu is a la carte and every entree is over priced by about $5. If you want a soup or a salad... add about $10, so it adds up quick... I guess they are still paying for all the tile and marble in the place... The other thing I noticed was the noise in the room we where seated. I think it was due to the old stone walls and tile floors, the room was very loud with other patrons conversing... Hopefully they realize this can be corrected... All and all, nice place.... but bring your wallet

Who knew they had coupons? I was looking for somewhere local to take my wife for her birthday so I called a good friend and he said, "if you haven't tried the Jarretown Hotel you should, it's Italian, a little bit pricy but not much, and you'll really like it...." HE WAS RIGHT. I am sick of restaurants with a great chef and no atmosphere - not here, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. I didn't feel like there were tables of other people on top of me etc. My wife had a Key West Grouper and I had the house special, both were awesome. Candlelit but not so low that you couldn't go with friends, as a matter of fact we mostly had tables of four friends near us. They had live music on a Tuesday night - very light instrumental music and very, very good. We will definitely go back. Dont' get fooled if you don't see tons of cars, they are parked out back. Prices were up a little bit but not much, well worth the ambience.

My wife got us a coupon and it was a great bargain. I had the Talapia Oscar and it was great. This place always looked interesting but we never made the effort. Im glad we did. It was plate licking lip smacking good. I found this place very interesting and during our Happy Hour visit they had live music so that has to be a plus in anyone's book.

Ever since Chef Mark Ziebis came on, the food has gone through a transformation!! Elegant, very tasty, and so reasonable considering the level of quality that he brings. I have followed Chef Mark since his days at The Fountain Restaurant in Philly, to Bourbon Blue in Manayunk... He always adds such noticable culinary class wherever he chose to hang his chef hat. We are lucky to have such a fine chef in our backyards now!

OMG, what a great place to go for Dinner, Happy Hour, Birthdays or just to have drink. I have been going to Jarrettown for about 6 months now. As a single women I have found in the past it is hard to just go out and eat or drink by yourself, most offten you get funny or pitty looks. This is not the case with Jarrettown, from the first moment I sat down I felt at home. The manager Bil I believe is his name, came right over with a great smile and asked what I would like to drink, I was not sure and he suggeted a Lemon Drop Martini, he made it himself, it was and is the BEST Lemon Drop Martini ever. The food is the best you can get. Though it does seem to be a bit higher in Price it is worth it. You can pay less in the many other Italian restaurants in the area but the food will not be as good. The atmosphere is fantastic, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can listen very soothing music. You can actually talk with others and still hear the music. Outstanding!!!!! When I go there now I feel like I am home. The whole Staff including the owner alwasy say Hello and if they remember your name they do they will address you by name. One last comment I promise. I took a friend over for their birthday, the bartender heard my tell her happy birthday, and without any prompting from me at the end of the meal they brought out a double scoop of ice cream with a candle in it. the whole bar sang Happy Birthday. Now that is outstanding Service. I love love the whole place.

If you can get past the indifferent (and sometimes adversarial) service, the food is fantastic and a great value for the price. The dining areas are very pretty. The bar is a somewhat dark and a little cramped but the beer selection is decent.

My boyfriend and I went last night. We had a restaurant.com certificate to use, and I'm glad we did! As you drive up, the restaurant is decorated with lights everywhere....very pretty. Inside, everything is newly renovated. As you walk in, there's a bar area that's nice and inviting. We were seated in a booth next to the front window. A man was playing an electric guitar in the bar area that you could hear over the entire restaurant (not in an annoying way). You wouldn't even know that someone was sitting in there playing if you hadn't seen him! The food was very good. The calamari was flash-fried, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. Not that I didn't like it, but it just wasn't my favorite. There were also veggies mixed in, which he and I had never seen before. I had a Maine Lobster Risotto special that was amazing! At first when it came out, I thought it looked a little small. I quickly realized how filling it was! D had bowtie pasta with crabmeat, etc. He had enough for leftovers to bring home. Oh, and mine came with a lobster tail that was awesome. I would definitely recommend this to others. They had average prices and a large menu. Plenty of drinks to choose from, too (wine, draft & bottled beers, specialty drinks, etc).

The three times we have been there the service has been the issue and it still is. We stood for 5 minutes in an incredibly loud bar waiting for the hostess to show up and seat us for our reservation. I mean REALLY LOUD. Then we were shown a tiny table that was so squeezed between two other tables we had to refuse (I requested a corner table on my reservation and we were walked past several). Finally we were shown to another table that we literally were barely able to sit at. We saw several couples come in a get seated at much larger tables after us. Really? Our server was well meaning, but rushed to the point of being rude. The food was good but not special, and the prices, particularly for our two specials were exceptionally high for the area ($36 each). My wife's whole fish which was de-boned table side had so many bones in it she had to pick through it carefully in order not to choke. Again, we saw the manager skillfully perform this service at another table, but we got the harried server who clearly did not know what she was doing. The bright spot was the manager who helped with a wine that had turned and was undrinkable -- we weren't comped for anything but he was very gracious. If you want above average pasta and the basics then this is probably a good choice. If you are looking for a nicer, romantic evening, then Deterra and Bridget's in Ambler offer far better service and experience for the money.

Love this place! We have come a few times for special occasions. It's a bit pricey but the food and presentation is worth it. Try the diver scallops.
Superb outside groove with reggae band and fast, smiling servers. We were a big, loud, eating and drinking group with separate checks...no worries man! Could use an light fare menu to appeal to casual diners at the bar and outside.

Jarrettown is a moderately priced Italian restaurant with good food and cozy ambiance. There are three different areas to sit: the bar, the porch and the dining room. We always sit on the porch, which isn't really a porch but a long hallway with large windows along side a stone wall. They have a decent wine list and there's ample olive oil on the table, which always makes me happy. The last time I was there, I ordered the bolognese dish and hubs ordered the alfredo. Both of us were happy with our decisions and both plates were less than $20. All of the diners that I saw there were adults so I don't know if this would be a great place for kids. We usually come here for special occasions (or when the hubs is carbo loading for a marathon). Next time you're looking for reasonably placed Italian and you're near Dresher, stop by Jarrettown. The food and live music won't disappoint!

I love the food at Jarrettown Hotel, but the owner is difficult to deal with. I had an Open Table gift card which he would not accept. He said he hasn't participated in open table in 3 year. Take a look at Open Table. They do participate. He has given us a hard time in the past. Love this restaurant but he should make people feel more welcome

A story.....it is indeed true that when a problem/irritant happens -- HOW it is handled can actually make you like the place, and its management, even better than you did! We eat there regularly, and I called about a Valentine's Day reservation. Frankly, a little snag. The manager called me back the following day, and all is well! What that tells me and all is their attention to their reputation, and to detail, and to the GUEST! Get on their mailing list, and the occasional coupons as well as the food, is all worth it! We are a fan!

Went back again this past Friday night-this time we sat outside- everything was delicious again! The service was spot on. I never wanted for anything. They even adjusted the umbrella to block the setting sun from my mothers eyes. I love this place. The pasta dishes are absolutely to die for and the seafood is great as well. Our server recommended we try their new tuna appetizer as it is now a grade 1 tuna- WOW- it was so fresh -absolutely amazing! We will be back -hopefully many more times to come!

This place is great! The inside is totally different than I ever would have imagined from the outside! My family and I went here on a sunday night to celebrate my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary. We made a reservation and were a party of 8. There are multiple rooms inside and plenty of room. We had a reservation for 7pm and it wasn't crowded at all. We shared a couple different appetizers as a table (bruschetta, antipasta) as well as salads (house and ceasar). They all came out relatively quickly and our servers were very friendly and good. The main entrees were also all very good. We mostly got the pasta dishes ( gnocci, penne vodka, pasta in a bolengese sauce, and two different seafood pastas-one of which was a special.) They all came out correctly and in a timely manner. Everything was deliscious and we were pleased with the food, atmosphere and service. There is ample parking but it is decently pricey but a great place!

Had dinner last night, on the patio. Perfect night to be outside, live music, a guy that seemed obsessed with Jim Croce and Frank Sinatra but quite good. From the reviews I expected pricing to be average, looked at the menu, most entree's were closer to $30 than $20. Okay, but hadn't wanted to spend to much on a quick unplanned dinner. We had the diver scallops and a chicken with crab meat over angel hair pasta, both were very tasty. The only issue was service was SLOW, seemed like there were more than enough servers and wait staff, but they were always lingering at other tables. Other than that the building is nicely renovated, the old inn look is gone, maybe not a good thing, I really liked the buildings former rustic ambiance, but it is still nice in a new crisp kind of way. I would go back, maybe we just had the slow waitress.

First thing you notice is how high the tables are. That is nice for anybody over 5'8", so your food is not practically on the floor! I do agree with the reviewer who complained about the small tables. I saw them and agree with that. Luckily we were seated at a bigger table. Like every other restaurant, table was not set with a spoon. What is with that? Why aren't spoons put out on the table with the rest of the silverware anymore? A man who I can only assume was the owner was walking around to tables checking with the customers to make sure all was ok. Never came to our table. Guess we weren't "good enough" to warrant him checking with us about our meal. We enjoyed the food. The service (removing of used dishes) was not as bad as we've experience before, but nowhere near the top-notch of Dettera's in Ambler. Lindy the waitress saw my tea cup on the edge of the table (I put it there to be removed) and asked if I wanted anymore tea. I declined and she walked away - leaving the tea cup there! Pick it up! I said I don't want anymore, it's empty and on the edge of the table. A few minutes later, Lindy did however take away big dinner plates from the couple next to us. What gives?! Prices are on the high side, but not unreasonable for what you get. IMO Live keyboard playing was nice. Suggestion: If you plan to get dessert, eat sparingly before hand. The desserts are rather large.

We have frequented the Jarrettown Hotel Restaurant on numerous occasions. The atmosphere is very inviting, cozy inside and delightful outside. If the weather permits, I highly recommend the patio seating. Food: The House Special is my all time fave. Bow tie pasta in a vodka sauce with shrimp and crab. Very flavorful and filling! Love the bruschetta appetizer as well, fresh with generous size pieces. The Jarrettown Veal in mushroom sauce was perfectly cooked. Overall, I recomend anything on the Specials menu! Kids: So, it's not a 'kid' place, but the few times we brought our children it was a great experience. Inside there are large booths and outdoors you can fit quite a crowd. The kids meals, though a bit pricey, are DELICIOUS! You will want to share some of your kids' plate, especially the pizza. Great place for a date, out of town guests you want to impress, or drinks and appetizers.

The food is good not great. Worse than the food are the owners/managers. Not single friendly!!! The past two times I've gone there by myself to sit at a table and relax I was refused a table. I was told that I should at the bar if I wasn't waiting for someone. I had to insist repeatedly, it was very awkward!

Had dinner here. Very good but given that the prices exceed the fine dining factor can't go for the 4th star. For example, the whole fish I ordered was deboned tableside. The process left me with a plate of fish chunks, not 2 whole fillets as it should have been.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Tonight was a wonderful dinner at the Jarrettstown Hotel Italian Restaurant and Bar in Dresher, Pa. Curiosity got the best of us after passing this establishment many times. Well we were not disappointed. Just think after so many diner and lower priced restaurant reviews, we actually went somewhere with table linens and linen napkins. lol. Our server Linnea couldn't have been nicer. She took our beverage order and told us about the evening specials. Along with our beverages she brought fresh bread and butter along with olive oil. Wifie for an appetizer chose the pasta e fagioli soup. I got a bit more exotic and ordered the Asparagi & Prosciutto (Asparagus and sharp Provolone wrapped with Parma Prosciutto in white wine sauce). Absolutely delicious. For our entrees Mary Ann chose the "House Special" (Jumbo lump crabmeat & shrimp sautéed in a vodka blush sauce with bowtie pasta). I decided on the "Trio". A incredible combination of veal, chicken breast, and shrimp, with mozzarella. It is served with a side of angel hair pasta in a pomodoro sauce. We thought about dessert but decided against it. The one thing that did somewhat surprise me was a minimal selection of desserts and no dessert tray. But we were so full from our appetizers and entrees that we sure didn't need it anyway. Beautiful atmosphere with great ambiance. Located on Limekiln Pike in Dresher a great place for a intimate dinner or a family get together. Take a ride. Give it a try. You will leave happy, full, and satisfied. jarrettownrestaurant.com…

Been here twice and the food is good. I had a seared Ahi tuna served rare and it was perfect. It's a nice place if you want to get out and avoid the typical chains.
