This may be the second worst Mexican of my long and varied career as an eater. They don't even try to make things seem Mexican. Everything is bland and lifeless. The place itself is all right. The staff is mainly acceptable. But the food does not get there from anywhere. They need to remove the word "Mexican" from their sign and leave the word "American." If you have rated this place above two stars, get back in your car and continue north on 616 to the tacky little shopping center in Plumsteadville. Find El Mariachi. Eat something. Be ashamed of your Pocos review. Change it now that you know better.

Poco's has been in the bottom of the Courthouse Motor Inn on Main Street in D-town for years. And in all those years the food has never improved - yet people still go here and many, many people LOVE it. Just not me. I don't HATE it - it's just "Meh"xican. Boring, nacho-esque Ameri-mex. (Or worse, Pennsy-Mex?) But I do love Doug Esch - and all the D. Esch boyz. Lot's of nostalgia for me at Poco's. Save me a barstool, pour me a margarita, rocks 'n salt - and I'll be downing nachos along with the rest of 'em.

Been eating here for 15 plus years. Never had a bad meal. Wide selection on the menu. House margarita is average. Other drinks are fine. The best way to enjoy Poco's is to talk to Wayne, the owner, when you arrive. Ask which special he recommends and why. He is quick to answer, loves to explain where in Mexico he got the idea, and always stops over to see what you think. Provided you choose a food you like, you will have an enjoyable Mexican meal. But, mind you, it is a Mexican spin (san, the chicken fingers). The photos below don't do the specials justice. This is a classic, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives local joint. You either like it or you don't. But, worth a try for something more than chicken fingers and tacos.

I have been going to Poco's for over 8 years now and I have never had a a bad meal or drink for that matter. Over the years the owner Wayne has tried to change things up to keep it fresh, like his weekly specials Thursday - Sunday and Taco Tuesday is one of my favs, especially when its "buffalo" chicken or pork tacos. I have seen some reviews complaining about it not being authentic Mexican cuisine, however the restaurant is Mexican-American with a southern California flair and they have hit the nail on the head on that one.

I liked the decor of the restaurant/bar and the comedy club upstairs but it ends there. We were seated at our reservation time and provided plenty of chips and salsa, which were okay , not great. Asked for guacamole and got the "large" order. All I will say is I pity the folks that order the small. The big problem though was that we ordered our food and waited an hour plus to get it. Other tables, who were seating well after us, received their food sooner and when ours eventually came, mine was warm at best. We only had 20 minutes before the comedy club opened its doors so no opportunity to send it back or even complain. Quality of food was average to poor overall. Thought food and bar drinks were pricey as well. Had higher expectations for this place and should have taken the majority of previous yelp reviews to heart before spending the time and money here. Would definitely recommend the comedy club thought.

I was running some errands with my young daughter in the shopping center north of Doylestown. We'd planned to go into town and wander around for a little while but the time got away from us and we were hungry for lunch. Poco's was a good option that wasn't fast food in that area. It's not gourmet, but the service was prompt and friendly, the food (flauta for me, sides of beans and rice and guac for her) was fine for both me and my kinda-picky nine-year-old, and the place was clean. It was neither the best Tex-Mex I've ever had nor the worst, but it was a nice satisfying and reasonably priced lunch.

This place is great!! I've been going there for over 10 years without a problem!! Their menu is quite large with an array of Mexican and American options. I personally enjoy the cheesesteaks, wings, and fajitas. They have a wonderful happy hour during the week - 1/2 off drinks!! Also the staff has always been friendly and usually helpful. You won't be disappointed if you get the big daddy margarita to go along with your food. This place rocks!!!

But what really pissed me off was that I ordered a Coca Cola and they brought me some generic ass sams club cola soda...I asked do you have Pepsi , Dr. Pepper? Nope only generics.. WTF?

As an avid eater, and lifetime lover of this business, I can honestly say this is one of my top 3 restaurants. If you are looking for the MOST authentic mexican food on the planet, you are barking up the wrong tree. Most of the reviews I have seen are people seeking pork pibil and goat tacos, SERIOUSLY?!? What you will find is an amazing atmosphere, great service, fantastic home cooked food. Oh, and one of the most welcoming, clever and witty hosts, (the owner Wayne), in the business today. Try the Dean's wings, (the best "off the wall" wing sauce on the planet, and the green Mary Lou, a spicy treat. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Split a pitcher of (margarita $27) between myself and one other person without a buzz. It tasted like water, literally. A five year old could have made the food better - it costs extra to add meat to tacos and quesadillas...at a Mexican restaurant? Ten bucks a meal unlimited stale store bought chips and salsa. Recently gave Poco's another try for Cinco de Mayo and was disappointed again. This is your average tex-mex food, with nothing outstanding. Oh and the salsa and chips leaves much to be desired imho. very watery salsa. some like it that way; i prefer to see some ingredients left intact.

The hot dog with chili on top says it all. First off, good Mexican/Tex Mex food doesn't exist in Pennsylvania, period. This would probably be the last restaurant I would visit if I was looking to go out in Doylestown. The food is bland and the margaritas follow suit. Highly Disappointed in this place. Went here for my sister in laws b-day as she used to live nearby, and I think that must be why she has good memories. First of all, the decor is really tacky and unoriginal. The chips and salsa are AWFUL. I mean, you are a Mexican restaurant- you can't even make fresh salsa? It's like 5 ingredients. Instead they give you this liquidy crap, poured straight from a glass syrup jar. It's meant for serving syrup people, NOT salsa. This place is called an American-Mexican restaurant, so I guess that explains some of the weird things on the menu. But when I want Mexican, I want real Mexican...not Mexican-American. I asked the waiter if they made their own taco shells, I should have known better with the chips and salsa...but figured I would ask anyways. He told me that they did, so I ordered the tacos. Tacos come out, and what do i see? Boxed frigging taco shells, how could he say they make them there? Needless to say, I've had better tacos at Taco Bell. My husband didn't care for his burrito either, and he grew up in CA so he knows good Mexican food. I didn't want to ruin the birthday dinner, so I didn't complain...I just knew that I would never be back!

pocos has been my favorite restaurant since i was a little kid. they have the best salsa and chips out of any tex-mex restaurant i've ever been to and their food is equally as good! try their chimichangas, especially the Green Mary Lou one (the spiciest dish on their menu). Poco's has gotten so bad over the years, I really can't imagine ever going back there again. I remember when they opened it was a cool hangout and the food was a little pricey, but good then. The decor is brash, gaudy really, the music: 80's club culture. Their drinks have always been weak , under-poured. Having gone back now twice in the last year on friends' suggestion, and after the LAST time I decided never to go back, they have scaled back their portions even more, and the worst part of it is their food lacks any authentic Mexican flavor. Imagine a Mexican restaurant and their food is actually bland. Even the gratis chips tasted weird like they use cheap oil for frying or something. On what appeared to be a slow night, my friend had a taco salad and the entire one side of the taco bowl was cracked off and the food was spilling onto the plate. My chimichanga had zip flavor, was topped with button sized scoops of sour cream and nasty guacamole and was served with about a tablespoon of chopped iceberg lettuce and microscopic carrot slivers. The service was nice enough, but sorry, you don't get a chance to strike out again. $30 for crap, and we didn't even drink this time. Poco's sucks. Goodbye forever.

Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but I think it's the only Mexican in Doylestown so it does the job just fine. They also have a few American items on the menu incase someone in your party doesn't like Mexican.

Ethyl and Lucy, need I say more. Dean's wings are outstanding, and Joe's Latest rocks. Great little restaurant, I've been going for years and can't speak highly enough about it. If you are looking for authentic mexican look elsewhere however. If you, like me, prefer "americanized" mexican this is the place for you. Comedy Cabaret upstairs has some great comedians too.

So consistently mediocre...overpriced under-spiced insult to American Mexican food. I give Taco Bell a higher rating than this. Poco's did a renovation with an enclosed glass patio & bar but that still doesn't make up for the terrible food and lackluster margaritas. While the menu is extensive and enticingly worded, the food doesn't live up to its descriptions. Chicken Fajitas were served with cold white flour things labeled tortillas and the chicken was bland with maybe a lot of oregano or other stale mystery spice. It was served on a plate that had been microwaved. Guacamole consisted of a green tasteless mush that could have been made in China. It was that authentic. The other dish which was a grey meat special, I wish I could delete from my taste receptor cell memory. We remembered why we didn't like Pocos 10 years ago and sadly, nothing has changed regarding food quality. However, if you're into hanging out at a local bar, this is a good spot to meet & greet fellow barflies. *Response to Michelle L.: I think it's great you're taking the time to respond on Yelp to the many negative reviews. I hope Pocos does follow through & make improvements. Those fajitas I had the other week were just horrible. You may want to look for other food vendors to supply your tortillas. And new recipes? Just a suggestion. Everything we had was sub par. We're not the only people who feel this way. Eating at your establishment was a total waste of money. I'm writing this on Yelp hoping to save somebody else the expensive mistake of mediocre food. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went there. And I've had better margaritas at chain restaurants where they openly admit to using a mix. But hey, if you say it's not, ok. Read previous reviews. Nobody loves your margaritas. Pocos won't blow you away with their culinary skills, but it's good for those locals looking for Mexican without going too far. Great for kids and the outdoor seating area looks cool (I haven't sat there though). Reasonably priced and margarita's are on the menu. I'd add a half star if I could.

The burrito at Poco's is more akin to something you'd get in your grade school cafeteria rather than something that you would see at a restaurant for adults. It is mushy and incoherent. The side salad it comes with is hilariously low effort. Both mild and "super spicy" salsas taste of tomato paste and laziness. All throughout my lunch, I closed my eyes and prayed that I would be magically transported to Chipotle. I found that, like a million times before, even the wish that's wished the hardest will often go unanswered. No, I'm not comparing this to "traditional Mexican" in the hopes that it stands up. I'm simply comparing this to "any other lunch option." It makes me sad to think this way because I know that they read these reviews and care about their business but seriously, you guys need to step up your game. Lunch dollar competition in Doylestown isn't too fierce. A little cilantro or salsa that tastes better than the Tostitos jars is a step in the right direction.

Well, if you read the reviews you probably wouldn't choose this place for a meal. I however, like to find out how bad (or good) a place is for my self so we ventured to Pocos for a meal before a Saturday night comedy show upstairs. Lesson 1) when a 17yr old babysitter warns you that the food is terrible, if you don't heed, it's all on you. Probably rated with the worst food I have ever eaten. Server & bar staff were very nice. Don't take the stomach distress out on them.

Michele to answer your questions: I had chicken Fajitas which weren't seasoned well, and my wife had shrimp chimichanga which she described as mushy and fishy. Why did we come back the 6-7 times even though the owner was rude? Well, people have some bad days and I believe in giving local business my money versus corporations. I am a self proclaimed "foody", what I have to say positive about your restaurant you have a good local, and your new side bar looks great. But, that's where it ends. You need to take stock of your reviews, after reading them again you have an issue with the quality and taste of your food, and the overall professionalism of the staff. Maybe talk to to owner and explain the issues. I don't want to see pocos go under, but Doylestown is super competitive place to eat. I hope this helps, and good luck!

No stars. The owner is always rude and the food is lousy & overpriced. I asked the waiter to change something he said "We don't change the entrees". I said, "Why is it frozen or pre made?" He looked at me and it looked like he was thinking- wow how did he know that? So then we went up to the overpriced comedy club. Terrible seating, packs the people in like rats, a fire disaster waiting to happen. Then the over priced drinks are served in Plastic CUPS! The comics were not that great and one had a really foul mouth. Avoid this place.

And I really like the roasted salsa...it is the best! The staff is great, and the owner has always been kind to us...in fact, he's gone over and above on several occasions to be extremely good to us! Gave this place another try after a disappointing first experience. Did not see an improvement. Cheese quesadillas tastleless, shimp very fishy. Lettuce on plate was brown at edge. I implore the owners to, instead of argue with pretty much every negative review posted here, take the criticism to heart and make positive changes. The restaurant needs A LOT of work but it isn't impossible. Now that Chipotle is just a few doors down, there will be more competition and the food is simply not cutting it at Poco's.

The restaurant and bar have recently been updated adding more space and a "cooler" atmosphere. The wait staff is terrific--never intrusive, but checking frequently enough to make sure all your needs are met in a timely manner. The management team is engaging from the minute you walk in the door, you feel as if you are visiting friends--lots of laughs and very welcoming. Can't go wrong with the food--my favorite are the Dean's Wings with just enough "heat" quickly cooled by Corona Light! Make sure you try the new steak fajitas and if you are looking for some more spice to the meal, get something done with "MaryLou"...you won't be disappointed. Some people believe that presentation is everything, but you won't hear this tired old motto at this place. This is Mexican food in the same way that CanCun is a Mexican experience. I ordered something called a "who cares". It was a giant brown wrap that took up the entire plate filled with "stuff" that seems to be a little of everything. It was the worst Mexican entree I've ever had. My wife had a taco and burrito which she enjoyed. The margaritas were good, but priced as you may expect at a better restaurant. The place was quite crowded and the service was good. It was loud and family friendly. The place has potential, but they need a new menu to start followed by a makeover of the decor. Too many other dining options nearby for a 2nd visit any time soon.

This place is really pretty bad, food-wise. I've seriously had way better quality food from street carts. Two good things: our waiter was very nice and a decent waiter overall, and if you have kids, the atmosphere is boisterous enough that you don't have to worry much about them being... kids. The food is an absolute monstrosity, from the quality of the ingredients, to the preparation, to the presentation. I ordered a chimichanga and literally got a chimichanga on an otherwise completely empty plate. Worst chimi ever, too. I would've sworn it was a hot-pocket. The place seems stuck in like 1995as well. The decor, the music all scream 90's. Then the Coke I ordered came. In a pitcher. With a straw in it. I told the waiter "I didn't order that", but he replied cheerfully "that's a coke, that's just how we serve it!" We'll not likely ever go back here. It belongs on Kitchen Nightmares.

Best place to come relax and sip some delicious margaritas. Try a "Preferred" fresh squeezed margarita if you like martinis. It's awesome! I also love their chimichangas, delicios! Terrible in every way. Overpriced and horrible quality of food. To start out, the host (who is a frightening looking 50 year old weirdo with earrings and a terrible demeanor) wouldn't allow us to sit at a table until the 2 other members of our party arrived..... even though it was 5 pm and the place was nearly empty. We ordered margaritas, which were good but nowhere near worth the $9. Someone at our table ordered an appetizer of taquitos (spelling?) and it came with two. TWO. You could buy a bag of 50 at Costco for a few more bucks than what Poco's charges and they'd probably taste better. Our dinners came out subpar, and I'm being generous. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had absolutely no chicken in it, just cheese. Told the waitress, but didn't send it back because I did not want to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Everyone else's food looked equally as unappetizing and although some enjoyed their plates, the small, unappealing portions were anything but worth the $10-12 they charge. To top it off, when we asked to split our bill the waitress sighed obnoxiously and said "you really should've told me that before you ordered." SERIOUSLY?! I've never once had to do that and it is not difficult to split the bill, I've seen it done hundreds of times. She then proceeded to give us our bills another 20 minutes later and never came back to give change. We had to request it and when the waitress returned with it, she paired it with a snarky comment and walked away. Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible place.

If a Mexican restaurant has terrible margaritas we should run for the hills but combine that with mediocre service and horrible food one has to take the time to warn others to run even faster!!! Expensive and bad- not a good combination- which is a shame because their new bar addition is nice and some of the comedy acts are great but we have tried numerous times and varied dishes and every time it was a huge costly disappointment.

I should have gone to good old burger king just a few seconds away! I'd know the quality of food and the kids working there would probably have a little more respect for someone much older. Food was horrible...! Just keep reading all the negative reviews as they are true from our experience as well! Management/Owner was rude...! My mother asked if she could get a free refill of sour cream and instead of management (owner) stating no. He rudely and loudly made a scene stating "if it costs us it costs you". She already paid $1.25 for two tablespoons (trying to mask the taste of the poor quality food). She than said sir it cost about $1.25 for a container and managements reply "Does it? How should I know... Do you want more or not"? Of course being timid and embarrassed by his rudeness she replied no. I have told many people about this experience and everyone expressed this was not appropriate behavior from restaurant management/ownership. I was asked why she and I didn't walk out. It actually didn't come to mind because it wouldn't have been the appropriate thing to do. We are Christians! We will never return and pray this man doesn't treat everyone as he did us! This is the first time I have written a review as I was advised to do from a friend that said people need to be aware of our experience. Poor food... Rude management... My assessment is as follows: At first the service was great! The host was very friendly and nice, very concerned etc.. Our waiter was not very good though. After the order was taken we did not see or hear from him again until we got out check, not even one drink re-fill :( so no stars here. They were very very generous with the chips and salsa, tons of chips and tons of salsa, and the salsa is quite good. One star. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. 80's music going on, not sure why, but hey I like 80's music. One star. The presentation of the food was not as impressive. It does look like something I could have made at home. The tortilla & beans have got to be from giant. Also the side salad/carrots garnish is from giant, almost positive. Minus a star. However, despite appearances it does not taste like something you would get at giant. My meal was actually really good. My wife's meal was very good also. The meat was very tender and full of a lot of flavor. 2 stars. Finally the price. Kind of expensive considering it doesn't come with much else besides a burrito. No rice & beans etc, but they do kind of make up for it with all the chips & salsa. So no stars here. Finally, I would go back to this place to eat their tasty burrito and chips/salsa if it wasn't as pricy. This restaurant has got a few things really figured out, but they need to tighten up a few loose ends and it could be killer place to eat!

you know how you read a review and you think it cant really be as bad as all the other one star reviews because you have been there before, ok, so it was 20 years ago, but still.. well, believe all the one star reviews because it is all true. we were given chips with salsa when we sat down, the waiter was very friendly. the spicier of the two salsa's was uneatable. the mild one had no taste i ordered a burrito, i was served a quesadilla that barely had any filling in it. i ordered a side of beans. they were the absolute worse canned beans i have ever had. my friend order a veggie chimichanga and got the burrito( maybe it was the one i ordered) there was one veggie in it, a piece of broccoli that was probably saved from the last time she was there, 20 years ago. she was looking for to it because when she was there 20 years ago, it was filled with all kinds of veggies, it was huge and yummy. not this time. the bad taste this food leaves in your mouth will even linger to the next day..

I recently went to Poco's before catching a show at the Comedy Caberet upstairs. The venue is appropriately themed for its Mexican cuisine with bright colors and cacti around the establishment. The walls are padded under the bright fabric that adorns them, in case you are bouncing around from the delicious margaritas they serve here. The Cadillac is the best the serve and worth it. The bar also features a modest, but notable beer selection that rounds out it's selection. If you go on a weekend, it may be extremely busy here, so wait times may be an issue. Plan accordingly. However, during our wait, we were consistently served salsa and chips by the staff, making the time more bearable while we slurped down our beverages of choice. The salsa is spicy and saucy, opposed to chunky. Depending on your taste and texture preferences you may or may not like the salsa. The dinner menu is relatively large and has a good selection of Mexican food, and a small American menu for those who aren't brave enough to eat the Mexican entrees. The menu isn't organized well with many of the features not organized by type. For example, all the featured burritos are scattered in the features page. It's something to keep in mind if there's a specific food you enjoy and the first feature isn't specifically what you had in mind. Most of their entrees are made with refried beans and Spanish rice. I could not find a substitute for these options like black beans or brown rice typically the healthier options if someone prefers them. However, the prices are very sensible on the menu. The after effects of dinner were the worst, and made me feel like my entree truly came from Mexico. The after effect was not the cultural experience I intended to have while visiting. I recommend visiting Poco's for a few cocktails, but pass on the dinner unless you have a digestive system that can support it. My wimpy system couldn't handle it.

These people spend more time defending their poor customer service, instead of simply apologizing. It is true that not all the time the client is right. But, the client should always be respected for letting the restaurant know about their experience. Even if it simply the customer's perception of the service. How else can the restaurant improve? This is the first time that i have gone to the trouble of writing a negative review. I have certainly been to many other restaurants where aspects of the service are not great (or have been fantastic). In both cases, the restaurant should hear this. But no way should the restaurant employees or owner, especially, react in any way but take it as an element of the customer experience that they should work to address. Not simply defend it as if nothing is wrong....!

Well I hate to do this , giving it only two stars , service was great and that is why they are getting a star the frozen pitcher of strawberry margaritas was good but not strong that's the other star ,my husband and I got 6 tacos 3 chicken soft 3 meat hard ! I can't tell how bad it was ! Was it cause we were the last customers ? Old food ? Don't know but just horrible no flavor ! We felt rushed , we usually go to las margaritas but this was closer and we were hungry ! We moved to Doylestown recently from Houston, TX. Boy do I miss Texas tex-mex. Mmmmmmm. :-) :-) :-) Oops, sorry, I seem to have digressed there a bit. Where was I again? Oh yeah...Poco's. :-( :-( :-( Put it this way: in Texas I could throw a rock in any direction and despite it possibly hitting the absolute *worst* example of a tex-mex restaurant, it would still be light-years better than Poco's. This place is not only the worst tex-mex I've eaten (or could imagine eating). It's possibly the worst food I've eaten period. It absolutely boggles my mind how any patron of Poco's would choose to come back for a second visit. Seriously, hey...you there, future Poco's repeat customer...you have *no idea* what you're missing. In fact, if I only had the time and energy to start a tex-mex restaurant of my own here in D-town, I could literally just cook food from my memories of what I've eaten down south using my very limited cooking skills and blow. Your. MIND. Seriously, if you honesty thought your Poco's meal was in any way edible, enjoyable tex-mex, then when you tasted my restaurant's food, literally your mind would BLOW UP!! Sorry, I digress again. Perhaps it's not yet obvious how little I want to remember our first and final visit to Poco's. I do remember that my 8-year-old daughter took one bite of her cheese quesadilla and said "ewwwww". My wife and I thought for sure she was just being difficult. After all, how could anyone screw up a quesadilla? So we had a taste and boy was that quesadilla disgusting. Dry, hard tortilla. Greasy, cheap, cafeteria-grade government cheese filling. Imagine eating the center of a used cardboard pizza box. That's how this quesadilla tasted. If you've read this far, please do yourself a favor and stop considering a visit to Poco's, repeat or otherwise. Instead drive 30min to Las Margaritas in Southampton. This place is at least a close approximation of "okay" Texas tex-mex, which means *monumentally* better than Poco's. And certainly the best we've had in the area so far.

Went here with a friend last night for dinner. Service was horrible and food wasn't much better. I got a drink that was so strong, that I couldn't even drink it. My food was so spicy that I needed a water, which took me 20 minutes to get. My friend's tacos had absolutely no seasoning on them, so they were literally white chicken with lettuce and a few shreds of cheese. I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, but I was definitely expecting something better than we got. I've wanted to try this place since I moved. I can say I did. I can also say that I will never be going back.

I went to Poco's today for the first time in about 15 years and I doubt I'll ever go again. The most positive thing I can say is that the service was prompt and friendly and the new addition was spacious. My Mom and I were both surprised there wasn't a lunch menu and were even more surprised by the prices. 1 taco was $4!! Given the high prices we decided to split the fish tacos and order a side of rice and beans as well as a small order of guacamole. The fish tacos were ok but at nearly $12 I felt a little ripped off by the minimal amount of fish and the large amount of cabbage! The rice was basic at best. The refried beans I'm sure were from a can. And the small side of guacamole...less than 2 ounces and cost $3.50! Our bill came to $25 (including 2 ices teas). Next time I want Mexican I'll go a few minutes up 611 to El Mariachi (much more authentic with much friendly prices.

Poco's serves Tex-Mex cuisine. I heard that on certain nights, comedians perform (either there or next door) and (better yet) are actually funny - haven't had a chance to check this out. Regardless, Poco's has an unambiguously festive decor of faux palm trees and holiday lights that might make you laugh. Of the several times I've been there, only once did I encounter a rude host staffer. Service (Tara, and others) has thankfully always been helpful. For kicks, I ordered a hot dog, and it was good - can't beat sauteed onions! Also have had their BBQ, ribs[1], chicken fingers, and appetizer sampler, which are all standard fare. I just came from Poco's and boy am I starving! Why am I starving after just coming from a restaurant? Because the food was...how do you say in spanish?...oh yea, El Gross-o. They should change the name of this place to "The Can Opener" because after trying to eat what they served me it's clearly the only kitchen utensil they use. The Salsa must come from the Dollar store and the beef definitely comes from cardboard cows. I'm not sure how this place has stayed in business for as long as they have unless they have been funneling in money from the Pay-by-the-hour motel they are attached to. Update: after telling myself I would never return some friends wanted to go for beer and tacos. The beer was cold and the tacos weren't too shabby. I've raised my rating a bit. Hopefully things continue to improve.

My last visit there the was angry about something and literally throw someone's check with the credit card holder at the wall behind him and left it on the floor behind him for a while. This may be the second worst Mexican of my long and varied career as an eater. They don't even try to make things seem Mexican. Everything is bland and lifeless. The place itself is all right. The staff is mainly acceptable. But the food does not get there from anywhere. They need to remove the word "Mexican" from their sign and leave the word "American." If you have rated this place above two stars, get back in your car and continue north on 616 to the tacky little shopping center in Plumsteadville. Find El Mariachi. Eat something. Be ashamed of your Pocos review. Change it now that you know better.

I am sorry to say that I agree with the previous review. How in the world is this place still open?? Believe me, I hate ripping into a business that has existed for so long but I would hate for someone else to make the mistake of coming here as I did. I stopped into Poco's on a Saturday afternoon. My husband suggested it because he passes it on his commute to work and said that it has been open for a long time, assuming it must be good. Big mistake. My first cue to turn around should have been that the parking lot was completely empty but we went in anyway. We sat the bar and asked for menus. I decided on a House Sangria. The menu said something like, "our secret blend of muddled fruits and red wine." Sounds homemade, right? Wrong. Out comes a bottle of Yago Sant'gria and into a glass it goes with the addition of a lemon, lime, and orange wedge. For a Mexican restaurant that describes "our secret blend" sangria, I'd expect it not to come out of a bottle I can buy at the store for $15 and for it not to be $8. Moving on. We ordered the Ethel & Lucy nachos. It came with what it said, chips, beef, peppers, and cheese, and nothing more. No lettuce, tomato, sour cream, or other common nacho side. The nachos tasted fine although there was barely any beef on it (and by the way, it was not ground beef as stated on the menu, it was shredded). The thing that shocked me was, after the bartender gave us our nachos, she went into a cooler under the bar and pulled out a small dish of salsa. There was nothing covering it and it was obviously sitting in there for a long time because there was a line of dried out salsa around the rim. You know that line? The one that comes after you leave a soda or iced tea sit out on your counter all night? Yeah, that line. And not that this is a big deal to me but the bartender was eating a meal behind the bar when we were there. I personally don't care but it just seems unprofessional. I will not be returning to Poco's. I was sadly disappointed and expected much more from a place that has been open for so long.

At first I thought this placed SUCKED!!! All b/c of the ground beef... DO NOT ORDER GROUND BEEF!!! It is greasy and unappealing. They need to strain that stuff and or use a different grade of beef. Okay, I will admit that if you were to rewind about three years, I'd say that I wasn't a fan of Poco's, but after reading an article in the D-town magazine about them, I was inspired to give them another chance. As many other Yelper's have mentioned, this is definitely a tex-mex kinda place. If you're looking for 100% authentic Mexican, you're better off going to downtown Quakertown (where some of my favorites are). Poco's puts a different twist on Mexican food which I appreciate. My recent visits have left me satisfied and wanting to go back. The atmosphere is fun and lively so just going for drinks can be a blast, but I wouldn't leave without having their new fried ice cream. This is the real deal people - not just ice cream with corn flakes or rice krispies sprinkled on top...they fry the ice cream which is coated in a crispy outside layer and cover it in toppings of your choice...soooooooo good.

And in all those years the food has never improved - yet people still go here and many, many people LOVE it. Just not me. I don't HATE it - it's just "Meh"xican. Boring, nacho-esque Ameri-mex. (Or worse, Pennsy-Mex?) But I do love Doug Esch - and all the D. Esch boyz. Lot's of nostalgia for me at Poco's. Been eating here for 15 plus years. Never had a bad meal. Wide selection on the menu. House margarita is average. Other drinks are fine. The best way to enjoy Poco's is to talk to Wayne, the owner, when you arrive. Ask which special he recommends and why. He is quick to answer, loves to explain where in Mexico he got the idea, and always stops over to see what you think. Provided you choose a food you like, you will have an enjoyable Mexican meal. But, mind you, it is a Mexican spin (san, the chicken fingers). The photos below don't do the specials justice. This is a classic, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives local joint. You either like it or you don't. But, worth a try for something more than chicken fingers and tacos.

I have been going to Poco's for over 8 years now and I have never had a a bad meal or drink for that matter. Over the years the owner Wayne has tried to change things up to keep it fresh, like his weekly specials Thursday - Sunday and Taco Tuesday is one of my favs, especially when its "buffalo" chicken or pork tacos. I have seen some reviews complaining about it not being authentic Mexican cuisine, however the restaurant is Mexican-American with a southern California flair and they have hit the nail on the head on that one.

I liked the decor of the restaurant/bar and the comedy club upstairs but it ends there. We were seated at our reservation time and provided plenty of chips and salsa, which were okay , not great. Asked for guacamole and got the "large" order. All I will say is I pity the folks that order the small. The big problem though was that we ordered our food and waited an hour plus to get it. Other tables, who were seating well after us, received their food sooner and when ours eventually came, mine was warm at best. We only had 20 minutes before the comedy club opened its doors so no opportunity to send it back or even complain. Quality of food was average to poor overall. Thought food and bar drinks were pricey as well. Had higher expectations for this place and should have taken the majority of previous yelp reviews to heart before spending the time and money here. Would definitely recommend the comedy club thought.

I was running some errands with my young daughter in the shopping center north of Doylestown. We'd planned to go into town and wander around for a little while but the time got away from us and we were hungry for lunch. Poco's was a good option that wasn't fast food in that area. It's not gourmet, but the service was prompt and friendly, the food (flauta for me, sides of beans and rice and guac for her) was fine for both me and my kinda-picky nine-year-old, and the place was clean. It was neither the best Tex-Mex I've ever had nor the worst, but it was a nice satisfying and reasonably priced lunch.

This place is great!! I've been going there for over 10 years without a problem!! Their menu is quite large with an array of Mexican and American options. I personally enjoy the cheesesteaks, wings, and fajitas. They have a wonderful happy hour during the week - 1/2 off drinks!! Also the staff has always been friendly and usually helpful. As an avid eater, and lifetime lover of this business, I can honestly say this is one of my top 3 restaurants. If you are looking for the MOST authentic mexican food on the planet, you are barking up the wrong tree. Most of the reviews I have seen are people seeking pork pibil and goat tacos, SERIOUSLY?!? What you will find is an amazing atmosphere, great service, fantastic home cooked food. Oh, and one of the most welcoming, clever and witty hosts, (the owner Wayne), in the business today. Try the Dean's wings, (the best "off the wall" wing sauce on the planet, and the green Mary Lou, a spicy treat. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Poco's has gotten so bad over the years, I really can't imagine ever going back there again. I remember when they opened it was a cool hangout and the food was a little pricey, but good then. The decor is brash, gaudy really, the music: 80's club culture. Their drinks have always been weak , under-poured. Having gone back now twice in the last year on friends' suggestion, and after the LAST time I decided never to go back, they have scaled back their portions even more, and the worst part of it is their food lacks any authentic Mexican flavor. Imagine a Mexican restaurant and their food is actually bland. Even the gratis chips tasted weird like they use cheap oil for frying or something. On what appeared to be a slow night, my friend had a taco salad and the entire one side of the taco bowl was cracked off and the food was spilling onto the plate. My chimichanga had zip flavor, was topped with button sized scoops of sour cream and nasty guacamole and was served with about a tablespoon of chopped iceberg lettuce and microscopic carrot slivers. The service was nice enough, but sorry, you don't get a chance to strike out again. $30 for crap, and we didn't even drink this time. Poco's sucks. Goodbye forever.

Highly Disappointed in this place. Went here for my sister in laws b-day as she used to live nearby, and I think that must be why she has good memories. First of all, the decor is really tacky and unoriginal. The chips and salsa are AWFUL. I mean, you are a Mexican restaurant- you can't even make fresh salsa? It's like 5 ingredients. Instead they give you this liquidy crap, poured straight from a glass syrup jar. It's meant for serving syrup people, NOT salsa. This place is called an American-Mexican restaurant, so I guess that explains some of the weird things on the menu. But when I want Mexican, I want real Mexican...not Mexican-American. I asked the waiter if they made their own taco shells, I should have known better with the chips and salsa...but figured I would ask anyways. He told me that they did, so I ordered the tacos. Tacos come out, and what do i see? Boxed frigging taco shells, how could he say they make them there? Needless to say, I've had better tacos at Taco Bell. My husband didn't care for his burrito either, and he grew up in CA so he knows good Mexican food. I didn't want to ruin the birthday dinner, so I didn't complain...I just knew that I would never be back!

I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, but I was definitely expecting something better than we got. I've wanted to try this place since I moved. I can say I did. I can also say that I will never be going back.

I wish I would have read these reviews before entering this place! I live miles away and ate here because of the convenient location. I should have gone to good old burger king just a few seconds away! I'd know the quality of food and the kids working there would probably have a little more respect for someone much older. Food was horrible...! Just keep reading all the negative reviews as they are true from our experience as well! Management/Owner was rude...! My mother asked if she could get a free refill of sour cream and instead of management (owner) stating no. He rudely and loudly made a scene stating "if it costs us it costs you". She already paid $1.25 for two tablespoons (trying to mask the taste of the poor quality food). She than said sir it cost about $1.25 for a container and managements reply "Does it? How should I know... Do you want more or not"? Of course being timid and embarrassed by his rudeness she replied no. I have told many people about this experience and everyone expressed this was not appropriate behavior from restaurant management/ownership. I was asked why she and I didn't walk out. It actually didn't come to mind because it wouldn't have been the appropriate thing to do. We are Christians! We will never return and pray this man doesn't treat everyone as he did us! This is the first time I have written a review as I was advised to do from a friend that said people need to be aware of our experience. Poor food... Rude management... Too many other restaurants in the area to visit. Please choose another...

My assessment is as follows: At first the service was great! The host was very friendly and nice, very concerned etc.. Our waiter was not very good though. After the order was taken we did not see or hear from him again until we got out check, not even one drink re-fill :( so no stars here. They were very very generous with the chips and salsa, tons of chips and tons of salsa, and the salsa is quite good. One star. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. 80's music going on, not sure why, but hey I like 80's music. One star. The presentation of the food was not as impressive. It does look like something I could have made at home. The tortilla & beans have got to be from giant. Also the side salad/carrots garnish is from giant, almost positive. Minus a star. However, despite appearances it does not taste like something you would get at giant. My meal was actually really good. My wife's meal was very good also. The meat was very tender and full of a lot of flavor. 2 stars. Finally the price. Kind of expensive considering it doesn't come with much else besides a burrito. No rice & beans etc, but they do kind of make up for it with all the chips & salsa. So no stars here. Finally, I would go back to this place to eat their tasty burrito and chips/salsa if it wasn't as pricy. This restaurant has got a few things really figured out, but they need to tighten up a few loose ends and it could be killer place to eat!

you know how you read a review and you think it cant really be as bad as all the other one star reviews because you have been there before, ok, so it was 20 years ago, but still.. well, believe all the one star reviews because it is all true. we were given chips with salsa when we sat down, the waiter was very friendly. the spicier of the two salsa's was uneatable. the mild one had no taste i ordered a burrito, i was served a quesadilla that barely had any filling in it. i ordered a side of beans. they were the absolute worse canned beans i have ever had. my friend order a veggie chimichanga and got the burrito( maybe it was the one i ordered) there was one veggie in it, a piece of broccoli that was probably saved from the last time she was there, 20 years ago. she was looking for to it because when she was there 20 years ago, it was filled with all kinds of veggies, it was huge and yummy. not this time. the bad taste this food leaves in your mouth will even linger to the next day..

I recently went to Poco's before catching a show at the Comedy Caberet upstairs. The venue is appropriately themed for its Mexican cuisine with bright colors and cacti around the establishment. The walls are padded under the bright fabric that adorns them, in case you are bouncing around from the delicious margaritas they serve here. The Cadillac is the best the serve and worth it. The bar also features a modest, but notable beer selection that rounds out it's selection. If you go on a weekend, it may be extremely busy here, so wait times may be an issue. Plan accordingly. However, during our wait, we were consistently served salsa and chips by the staff, making the time more bearable while we slurped down our beverages of choice. The salsa is spicy and saucy, opposed to chunky. Depending on your taste and texture preferences you may or may not like the salsa. The dinner menu is relatively large and has a good selection of Mexican food, and a small American menu for those who aren't brave enough to eat the Mexican entrees. The menu isn't organized well with many of the features not organized by type. For example, all the featured burritos are scattered in the features page. It's something to keep in mind if there's a specific food you enjoy and the first feature isn't specifically what you had in mind. Most of their entrees are made with refried beans and Spanish rice. I could not find a substitute for these options like black beans or brown rice typically the healthier options if someone prefers them. However, the prices are very sensible on the menu. The after effects of dinner were the worst, and made me feel like my entree truly came from Mexico. The after effect was not the cultural experience I intended to have while visiting. I recommend visiting Poco's for a few cocktails, but pass on the dinner unless you have a digestive system that can support it. My wimpy system couldn't handle it.

The food is just so bad here. I saw that someone else said it's like grade school cafeteria food, which is funny because I was planning on comparing it to high school cafeteria food. It's mushy, greasy, just low, low quality. I've given it two tries now, and that'll be it.

I went to Poco's today for the first time in about 15 years and I doubt I'll ever go again. The most positive thing I can say is that the service was prompt and friendly and the new addition was spacious. My Mom and I were both surprised there wasn't a lunch menu and were even more surprised by the prices. 1 taco was $4!! Given the high prices we decided to split the fish tacos and order a side of rice and beans as well as a small order of guacamole. The fish tacos were ok but at nearly $12 I felt a little ripped off by the minimal amount of fish and the large amount of cabbage! The rice was basic at best. The refried beans I'm sure were from a can. And the small side of guacamole...less than 2 ounces and cost $3.50! Our bill came to $25 (including 2 ices teas). Next time I want Mexican I'll go a few minutes up 611 to El Mariachi (much more authentic with much friendly prices.

Poco's serves Tex-Mex cuisine. I heard that on certain nights, comedians perform (either there or next door) and (better yet) are actually funny - haven't had a chance to check this out. Regardless, Poco's has an unambiguously festive decor of faux palm trees and holiday lights that might make you laugh. Of the several times I've been there, only once did I encounter a rude host staffer. Service (Tara, and others) has thankfully always been helpful. For kicks, I ordered a hot dog, and it was good - can't beat sauteed onions! Also have had their BBQ, ribs[1], chicken fingers, and appetizer sampler, which are all standard fare. I just came from Poco's and boy am I starving! Why am I starving after just coming from a restaurant? Because the food was...how do you say in spanish?...oh yea, El Gross-o. They should change the name of this place to "The Can Opener" because after trying to eat what they served me it's clearly the only kitchen utensil they use. The Salsa must come from the Dollar store and the beef definitely comes from cardboard cows. I'm not sure how this place has stayed in business for as long as they have unless they have been funneling in money from the Pay-by-the-hour motel they are attached to. Update: after telling myself I would never return some friends wanted to go for beer and tacos. The beer was cold and the tacos weren't too shabby. I've raised my rating a bit. Hopefully things continue to improve.

Thought the new bar was something cool, but we sat there for 10 minutes and waited for the bartender who was busy chatting with the locals to serve us. We walked right out, and there were not many people in the place. I used to like the bar, and the food was always lame to begin with. Failed! Not coming back.

This is a fun place to have a few drinks. Food is just ok. The bartenders are all great. The owner however is a turn off. My last visit there the was angry about something and literally throw someone's check with the credit card holder at the wall behind him and left it on the floor behind him for a while. It really made me want to support his business. Good luck with the new bar I'm not excited to go back anytime soon.

I am sorry to say that I agree with the previous review. How in the world is this place still open?? Believe me, I hate ripping into a business that has existed for so long but I would hate for someone else to make the mistake of coming here as I did. I stopped into Poco's on a Saturday afternoon. My husband suggested it because he passes it on his commute to work and said that it has been open for a long time, assuming it must be good. Big mistake. My first cue to turn around should have been that the parking lot was completely empty but we went in anyway. We sat the bar and asked for menus. I decided on a House Sangria. The menu said something like, "our secret blend of muddled fruits and red wine." Sounds homemade, right? Wrong. Out comes a bottle of Yago Sant'gria and into a glass it goes with the addition of a lemon, lime, and orange wedge. For a Mexican restaurant that describes "our secret blend" sangria, I'd expect it not to come out of a bottle I can buy at the store for $15 and for it not to be $8. Moving on. We ordered the Ethel & Lucy nachos. It came with what it said, chips, beef, peppers, and cheese, and nothing more. No lettuce, tomato, sour cream, or other common nacho side. The nachos tasted fine although there was barely any beef on it (and by the way, it was not ground beef as stated on the menu, it was shredded). The thing that shocked me was, after the bartender gave us our nachos, she went into a cooler under the bar and pulled out a small dish of salsa. There was nothing covering it and it was obviously sitting in there for a long time because there was a line of dried out salsa around the rim. You know that line? The one that comes after you leave a soda or iced tea sit out on your counter all night? Yeah, that line. And not that this is a big deal to me but the bartender was eating a meal behind the bar when we were there. I personally don't care but it just seems unprofessional. I will not be returning to Poco's. I was sadly disappointed and expected much more from a place that has been open for so long.

At first I thought this placed SUCKED!!! All b/c of the ground beef... DO NOT ORDER GROUND BEEF!!! It is greasy and unappealing. They need to strain that stuff and or use a different grade of beef. Other than that, the Black Bean Soup is awesome and the Chimichanga is GREAT!!! Stick with shredded beef or chicken and you will be satisfied!!!

Okay, I will admit that if you were to rewind about three years, I'd say that I wasn't a fan of Poco's, but after reading an article in the D-town magazine about them, I was inspired to give them another chance. As many other Yelper's have mentioned, this is definitely a tex-mex kinda place. If you're looking for 100% authentic Mexican, you're better off going to downtown Quakertown (where some of my favorites are). Poco's puts a different twist on Mexican food which I appreciate. My recent visits have left me satisfied and wanting to go back. The atmosphere is fun and lively so just going for drinks can be a blast, but I wouldn't leave without having their new fried ice cream. This is the real deal people - not just ice cream with corn flakes or rice krispies sprinkled on top...they fry the ice cream which is coated in a crispy outside layer and cover it in toppings of your choice...soooooooo good.

Terrible in every way. Overpriced and horrible quality of food. To start out, the host (who is a frightening looking 50 year old weirdo with earrings and a terrible demeanor) wouldn't allow us to sit at a table until the 2 other members of our party arrived..... even though it was 5 pm and the place was nearly empty. We ordered margaritas, which were good but nowhere near worth the $9. Someone at our table ordered an appetizer of taquitos (spelling?) and it came with two. TWO. You could buy a bag of 50 at Costco for a few more bucks than what Poco's charges and they'd probably taste better. Our dinners came out subpar, and I'm being generous. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had absolutely no chicken in it, just cheese. Told the waitress, but didn't send it back because I did not want to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Everyone else's food looked equally as unappetizing and although some enjoyed their plates, the small, unappealing portions were anything but worth the $10-12 they charge. To top it off, when we asked to split our bill the waitress sighed obnoxiously and said "you really should've told me that before you ordered." SERIOUSLY?! I've never once had to do that and it is not difficult to split the bill, I've seen it done hundreds of times. She then proceeded to give us our bills another 20 minutes later and never came back to give change. We had to request it and when the waitress returned with it, she paired it with a snarky comment and walked away. Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible place.

If a Mexican restaurant has terrible margaritas we should run for the hills but combine that with mediocre service and horrible food one has to take the time to warn others to run even faster!!! Expensive and bad- not a good combination- which is a shame because their new bar addition is nice and some of the comedy acts are great but we have tried numerous times and varied dishes and every time it was a huge costly disappointment.

Even our drinks have a special style that cannot be matched in the area! Lots of haIf you are looking for a fun night out in Doylestown, look no further than Poco's! The restaurant and bar have recently been updated adding more space and a "cooler" atmosphere. The wait staff is terrific--never intrusive, but checking frequently enough to make sure all your needs are met in a timely manner. The management team is engaging from the minute you walk in the door, you feel as if you are visiting friends--lots of laughs and very welcoming. Can't go wrong with the food--my favorite are the Dean's Wings with just enough "heat" quickly cooled by Corona Light! Make sure you try the new steak fajitas and if you are looking for some more spice to the meal, get something done with "MaryLou"...you won't be disappointed. Good food, good service and lots of fun for a night out...enjoy!! and special events to provide a fun filled time any day of the year!

These people spend more time defending their poor customer service, instead of simply apologizing. It is true that not all the time the client is right. But, the client should always be respected for letting the restaurant know about their experience. Even if it simply the customer's perception of the service. How else can the restaurant improve? This is the first time that i have gone to the trouble of writing a negative review. I have certainly been to many other restaurants where aspects of the service are not great (or have been fantastic). In both cases, the restaurant should hear this. But no way should the restaurant employees or owner, especially, react in any way but take it as an element of the customer experience that they should work to address. Not simply defend it as if nothing is wrong....!

Well, if you read the reviews you probably wouldn't choose this place for a meal. I however, like to find out how bad (or good) a place is for my self so we ventured to Pocos for a meal before a Saturday night comedy show upstairs. Lesson 1) when a 17yr old babysitter warns you that the food is terrible, if you don't heed, it's all on you. Probably rated with the worst food I have ever eaten. Server & bar staff were very nice. Don't take the stomach distress out on them.

Michele to answer your questions: I had chicken Fajitas which weren't seasoned well, and my wife had shrimp chimichanga which she described as mushy and fishy. Why did we come back the 6-7 times even though the owner was rude? Well, people have some bad days and I believe in giving local business my money versus corporations. I am a self proclaimed "foody", what I have to say positive about your restaurant you have a good local, and your new side bar looks great. But, that's where it ends. You need to take stock of your reviews, after reading them again you have an issue with the quality and taste of your food, and the overall professionalism of the staff. Maybe talk to to owner and explain the issues. I don't want to see pocos go under, but Doylestown is super competitive place to eat. I hope this helps, and good luck!

So consistently mediocre...overpriced under-spiced insult to American Mexican food. I give Taco Bell a higher rating than this. Poco's did a renovation with an enclosed glass patio & bar but that still doesn't make up for the terrible food and lackluster margaritas. While the menu is extensive and enticingly worded, the food doesn't live up to its descriptions. Chicken Fajitas were served with cold white flour things labeled tortillas and the chicken was bland with maybe a lot of oregano or other stale mystery spice. It was served on a plate that had been microwaved. Guacamole consisted of a green tasteless mush that could have been made in China. It was that authentic. The other dish which was a grey meat special, I wish I could delete from my taste receptor cell memory. We remembered why we didn't like Pocos 10 years ago and sadly, nothing has changed regarding food quality. However, if you're into hanging out at a local bar, this is a good spot to meet & greet fellow barflies. *Response to Michelle L.: I think it's great you're taking the time to respond on Yelp to the many negative reviews. I hope Pocos does follow through & make improvements. Those fajitas I had the other week were just horrible. You may want to look for other food vendors to supply your tortillas. And new recipes? Just a suggestion. Everything we had was sub par. We're not the only people who feel this way. Eating at your establishment was a total waste of money. I'm writing this on Yelp hoping to save somebody else the expensive mistake of mediocre food. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went there. And I've had better margaritas at chain restaurants where they openly admit to using a mix. But hey, if you say it's not, ok. Read previous reviews. Nobody loves your margaritas. Be the change, Michelle L.! Or call Restaurant Impossible. He'd have a field day with your food.

Pocos won't blow you away with their culinary skills, but it's good for those locals looking for Mexican without going too far. Great for kids and the outdoor seating area looks cool (I haven't sat there though). Reasonably priced and margarita's are on the menu. I'd add a half star if I could.

The burrito at Poco's is more akin to something you'd get in your grade school cafeteria rather than something that you would see at a restaurant for adults. It is mushy and incoherent. The side salad it comes with is hilariously low effort. Both mild and "super spicy" salsas taste of tomato paste and laziness. All throughout my lunch, I closed my eyes and prayed that I would be magically transported to Chipotle. I found that, like a million times before, even the wish that's wished the hardest will often go unanswered. No, I'm not comparing this to "traditional Mexican" in the hopes that it stands up. I'm simply comparing this to "any other lunch option." It makes me sad to think this way because I know that they read these reviews and care about their business but seriously, you guys need to step up your game. Lunch dollar competition in Doylestown isn't too fierce. A little cilantro or salsa that tastes better than the Tostitos jars is a step in the right direction.

This place is awesome. Food, drinks, atmosphere is perfect. Two bars to sit at one inside the other sort of outside with large garage door opening type windows that are perfect on a nice summer day. Located away from the hustle and bustle of crammy downtown doylestown. Also has a comedy place attached but not related to the restaurant. Of course the margarita's here are ggggrrrreeeeaaaatttt!!!

We first ate at Poco's nearly 14 years ago---and we've enjoyed eating there on a regularly basis ever since! The Chicken Fajita Burrito is our absolute favorite! And I really like the roasted salsa...it is the best! The staff is great, and the owner has always been kind to us...in fact, he's gone over and above on several occasions to be extremely good to us! We really like Poco's!

Gave this place another try after a disappointing first experience. Did not see an improvement. Cheese quesadillas tastleless, shimp very fishy. Lettuce on plate was brown at edge. I implore the owners to, instead of argue with pretty much every negative review posted here, take the criticism to heart and make positive changes. The restaurant needs A LOT of work but it isn't impossible. Now that Chipotle is just a few doors down, there will be more competition and the food is simply not cutting it at Poco's.

We moved to Doylestown recently from Houston, TX. Boy do I miss Texas tex-mex. Mmmmmmm. :-) :-) :-) Oops, sorry, I seem to have digressed there a bit. Where was I again? Oh yeah...Poco's. :-( :-( :-( Put it this way: in Texas I could throw a rock in any direction and despite it possibly hitting the absolute *worst* example of a tex-mex restaurant, it would still be light-years better than Poco's. This place is not only the worst tex-mex I've eaten (or could imagine eating). It's possibly the worst food I've eaten period. It absolutely boggles my mind how any patron of Poco's would choose to come back for a second visit. Seriously, hey...you there, future Poco's repeat customer...you have *no idea* what you're missing. In fact, if I only had the time and energy to start a tex-mex restaurant of my own here in D-town, I could literally just cook food from my memories of what I've eaten down south using my very limited cooking skills and blow. Your. MIND. Seriously, if you honesty thought your Poco's meal was in any way edible, enjoyable tex-mex, then when you tasted my restaurant's food, literally your mind would BLOW UP!! Sorry, I digress again. Perhaps it's not yet obvious how little I want to remember our first and final visit to Poco's. I do remember that my 8-year-old daughter took one bite of her cheese quesadilla and said "ewwwww". My wife and I thought for sure she was just being difficult. After all, how could anyone screw up a quesadilla? So we had a taste and boy was that quesadilla disgusting. Dry, hard tortilla. Greasy, cheap, cafeteria-grade government cheese filling. Imagine eating the center of a used cardboard pizza box. That's how this quesadilla tasted. If you've read this far, please do yourself a favor and stop considering a visit to Poco's, repeat or otherwise. Instead drive 30min to Las Margaritas in Southampton. This place is at least a close approximation of "okay" Texas tex-mex, which means *monumentally* better than Poco's. And certainly the best we've had in the area so far.

No stars. The owner is always rude and the food is lousy & overpriced. I asked the waiter to change something he said "We don't change the entrees". I said, "Why is it frozen or pre made?" He looked at me and it looked like he was thinking- wow how did he know that? So then we went up to the overpriced comedy club. Terrible seating, packs the people in like rats, a fire disaster waiting to happen. Then the over priced drinks are served in Plastic CUPS! The comics were not that great and one had a really foul mouth. Avoid this place.

Some people believe that presentation is everything, but you won't hear this tired old motto at this place. This is Mexican food in the same way that CanCun is a Mexican experience. I ordered something called a "who cares". It was a giant brown wrap that took up the entire plate filled with "stuff" that seems to be a little of everything. It was the worst Mexican entree I've ever had. My wife had a taco and burrito which she enjoyed. The margaritas were good, but priced as you may expect at a better restaurant. The place was quite crowded and the service was good. It was loud and family friendly. The place has potential, but they need a new menu to start followed by a makeover of the decor. Too many other dining options nearby for a 2nd visit any time soon.

This place is really pretty bad, food-wise. I've seriously had way better quality food from street carts. Two good things: our waiter was very nice and a decent waiter overall, and if you have kids, the atmosphere is boisterous enough that you don't have to worry much about them being... kids. The food is an absolute monstrosity, from the quality of the ingredients, to the preparation, to the presentation. I ordered a chimichanga and literally got a chimichanga on an otherwise completely empty plate. Worst chimi ever, too. I would've sworn it was a hot-pocket. The place seems stuck in like 1995as well. The decor, the music all scream 90's. Then the Coke I ordered came. In a pitcher. With a straw in it. I told the waiter "I didn't order that", but he replied cheerfully "that's a coke, that's just how we serve it!" We'll not likely ever go back here. It belongs on Kitchen Nightmares.

And the last 3 times I went, our order was wrong. Forget Poco's, go to Tu Casa in Chalfont. Same quality food, their chimichanga is $3 cheaper, and the portion is bigger.

Best place to come relax and sip some delicious margaritas. Try a "Preferred" fresh squeezed margarita if you like martinis. It's awesome! I also love their chimichangas, delicios! Their new "Poco's South" is beautiful! Awesome garage doors that open up this bar and it becomes out door! Open, airy, and did I mention its beautiful?! Wayne did an awesome job! Surely the new hot spot in Doylestown! Check it out and see for yourself.

Well I hate to do this , giving it only two stars , service was great and that is why they are getting a star the frozen pitcher of strawberry margaritas was good but not strong that's the other star ,my husband and I got 6 tacos 3 chicken soft 3 meat hard ! I can't tell how bad it was ! Was it cause we were the last customers ? Old food ? Don't know but just horrible no flavor ! We felt rushed , we usually go to las margaritas but this was closer and we were hungry ! This may be the second worst Mexican of my long and varied career as an eater. They don't even try to make things seem Mexican. Everything is bland and lifeless. The place itself is all right. The staff is mainly acceptable. But the food does not get there from anywhere. They need to remove the word "Mexican" from their sign and leave the word "American." If you have rated this place above two stars, get back in your car and continue north on 616 to the tacky little shopping center in Plumsteadville. Find El Mariachi. Eat something. Be ashamed of your Pocos review. Change it now that you know better.

Poco's has been in the bottom of the Courthouse Motor Inn on Main Street in D-town for years. And in all those years the food has never improved - yet people still go here and many, many people LOVE it. Just not me. I don't HATE it - it's just "Meh"xican. Boring, nacho-esque Ameri-mex. (Or worse, Pennsy-Mex?) But I do love Doug Esch - and all the D. Esch boyz. Lot's of nostalgia for me at Poco's. Been eating here for 15 plus years. Never had a bad meal. Wide selection on the menu. House margarita is average. Other drinks are fine. The best way to enjoy Poco's is to talk to Wayne, the owner, when you arrive. Ask which special he recommends and why. He is quick to answer, loves to explain where in Mexico he got the idea, and always stops over to see what you think. Provided you choose a food you like, you will have an enjoyable Mexican meal. But, mind you, it is a Mexican spin (san, the chicken fingers). The photos below don't do the specials justice. This is a classic, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives local joint. You either like it or you don't. But, worth a try for something more than chicken fingers and tacos.

I have been going to Poco's for over 8 years now and I have never had a a bad meal or drink for that matter. Over the years the owner Wayne has tried to change things up to keep it fresh, like his weekly specials Thursday - Sunday and Taco Tuesday is one of my favs, especially when its "buffalo" chicken or pork tacos. I have seen some reviews complaining about it not being authentic Mexican cuisine, however the restaurant is Mexican-American with a southern California flair and they have hit the nail on the head on that one.

I liked the decor of the restaurant/bar and the comedy club upstairs but it ends there. We were seated at our reservation time and provided plenty of chips and salsa, which were okay , not great. Asked for guacamole and got the "large" order. All I will say is I pity the folks that order the small. The big problem though was that we ordered our food and waited an hour plus to get it. Other tables, who were seating well after us, received their food sooner and when ours eventually came, mine was warm at best. We only had 20 minutes before the comedy club opened its doors so no opportunity to send it back or even complain. Quality of food was average to poor overall. Thought food and bar drinks were pricey as well. Had higher expectations for this place and should have taken the majority of previous yelp reviews to heart before spending the time and money here. Would definitely recommend the comedy club thought.

I was running some errands with my young daughter in the shopping center north of Doylestown. We'd planned to go into town and wander around for a little while but the time got away from us and we were hungry for lunch. Poco's was a good option that wasn't fast food in that area. It's not gourmet, but the service was prompt and friendly, the food (flauta for me, sides of beans and rice and guac for her) was fine for both me and my kinda-picky nine-year-old, and the place was clean. It was neither the best Tex-Mex I've ever had nor the worst, but it was a nice satisfying and reasonably priced lunch.

This place is great!! I've been going there for over 10 years without a problem!! Their menu is quite large with an array of Mexican and American options. I personally enjoy the cheesesteaks, wings, and fajitas. They have a wonderful happy hour during the week - 1/2 off drinks!! Also the staff has always been friendly and usually helpful. You won't be disappointed if you get the big daddy margarita to go along with your food. This place rocks!!!

As an avid eater, and lifetime lover of this business, I can honestly say this is one of my top 3 restaurants. If you are looking for the MOST authentic mexican food on the planet, you are barking up the wrong tree. Most of the reviews I have seen are people seeking pork pibil and goat tacos, SERIOUSLY?!? What you will find is an amazing atmosphere, great service, fantastic home cooked food. Oh, and one of the most welcoming, clever and witty hosts, (the owner Wayne), in the business today. Try the Dean's wings, (the best "off the wall" wing sauce on the planet, and the green Mary Lou, a spicy treat. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Split a pitcher of (margarita $27) between myself and one other person without a buzz. It tasted like water, literally. A five year old could have made the food better - it costs extra to add meat to tacos and quesadillas...at a Mexican restaurant? Ten bucks a meal unlimited stale store bought chips and salsa. The hot dog with chili on top says it all. First off, good Mexican/Tex Mex food doesn't exist in Pennsylvania, period. This would probably be the last restaurant I would visit if I was looking to go out in Doylestown. The food is bland and the margaritas follow suit. Highly Disappointed in this place. Went here for my sister in laws b-day as she used to live nearby, and I think that must be why she has good memories. First of all, the decor is really tacky and unoriginal. The chips and salsa are AWFUL. I mean, you are a Mexican restaurant- you can't even make fresh salsa? It's like 5 ingredients. Instead they give you this liquidy crap, poured straight from a glass syrup jar. It's meant for serving syrup people, NOT salsa. This place is called an American-Mexican restaurant, so I guess that explains some of the weird things on the menu. But when I want Mexican, I want real Mexican...not Mexican-American. I asked the waiter if they made their own taco shells, I should have known better with the chips and salsa...but figured I would ask anyways. He told me that they did, so I ordered the tacos. Tacos come out, and what do i see? Boxed frigging taco shells, how could he say they make them there? Needless to say, I've had better tacos at Taco Bell. My husband didn't care for his burrito either, and he grew up in CA so he knows good Mexican food. I didn't want to ruin the birthday dinner, so I didn't complain...I just knew that I would never be back!

I went to Poco's for the first time on Saturday with several friends. We had reservations for the comedy club upstairs and decided to have dinner there beforehand. We started by ordering appetizers: Guacamole and Pickle Pickle. The Guacamole was very good - it was fresh and seasoned just right. I was a little hesitant to try the Pickle Pickle because the thought of eating a fried pickle didn't sound very appetizing. The fried pickle was ok. I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I'll order it again. However, the dill dip it came with was excellent! For my entrée, I ordered the Chicken Fajita. It was a little bland but I could still eat it. Dessert is always a big deal for me. I ordered three scoops of vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups. I asked the waitress if it was similar to a "Blizzard" and she said it was ice cream with peanut butter cups crumbled on top. I ordered it and it was ok - I could have crumbled my own peanut butter cups over ice cream at home. Overall, I would say the food was mediocre. In the future, I will most likely return to the Comedy Cabaret upstairs but will have dinner elsewhere.

Poco's has gotten so bad over the years, I really can't imagine ever going back there again. I remember when they opened it was a cool hangout and the food was a little pricey, but good then. The decor is brash, gaudy really, the music: 80's club culture. Their drinks have always been weak , under-poured. Having gone back now twice in the last year on friends' suggestion, and after the LAST time I decided never to go back, they have scaled back their portions even more, and the worst part of it is their food lacks any authentic Mexican flavor. Imagine a Mexican restaurant and their food is actually bland. Even the gratis chips tasted weird like they use cheap oil for frying or something. On what appeared to be a slow night, my friend had a taco salad and the entire one side of the taco bowl was cracked off and the food was spilling onto the plate. My chimichanga had zip flavor, was topped with button sized scoops of sour cream and nasty guacamole and was served with about a tablespoon of chopped iceberg lettuce and microscopic carrot slivers. The service was nice enough, but sorry, you don't get a chance to strike out again. $30 for crap, and we didn't even drink this time. Poco's sucks. Goodbye forever.

Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but I think it's the only Mexican in Doylestown so it does the job just fine. So consistently mediocre...overpriced under-spiced insult to American Mexican food. I give Taco Bell a higher rating than this. Poco's did a renovation with an enclosed glass patio & bar but that still doesn't make up for the terrible food and lackluster margaritas. While the menu is extensive and enticingly worded, the food doesn't live up to its descriptions. Chicken Fajitas were served with cold white flour things labeled tortillas and the chicken was bland with maybe a lot of oregano or other stale mystery spice. It was served on a plate that had been microwaved. Guacamole consisted of a green tasteless mush that could have been made in China. It was that authentic. The other dish which was a grey meat special, I wish I could delete from my taste receptor cell memory. We remembered why we didn't like Pocos 10 years ago and sadly, nothing has changed regarding food quality. However, if you're into hanging out at a local bar, this is a good spot to meet & greet fellow barflies. *Response to Michelle L.: I think it's great you're taking the time to respond on Yelp to the many negative reviews. I hope Pocos does follow through & make improvements. Those fajitas I had the other week were just horrible. You may want to look for other food vendors to supply your tortillas. And new recipes? Just a suggestion. Everything we had was sub par. We're not the only people who feel this way. Eating at your establishment was a total waste of money. I'm writing this on Yelp hoping to save somebody else the expensive mistake of mediocre food. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went there. And I've had better margaritas at chain restaurants where they openly admit to using a mix. But hey, if you say it's not, ok. Read previous reviews. Nobody loves your margaritas. Pocos won't blow you away with their culinary skills, but it's good for those locals looking for Mexican without going too far. Great for kids and the outdoor seating area looks cool (I haven't sat there though). Reasonably priced and margarita's are on the menu. I'd add a half star if I could.

The burrito at Poco's is more akin to something you'd get in your grade school cafeteria rather than something that you would see at a restaurant for adults. It is mushy and incoherent. The side salad it comes with is hilariously low effort. Both mild and "super spicy" salsas taste of tomato paste and laziness. All throughout my lunch, I closed my eyes and prayed that I would be magically transported to Chipotle. I found that, like a million times before, even the wish that's wished the hardest will often go unanswered. No, I'm not comparing this to "traditional Mexican" in the hopes that it stands up. I'm simply comparing this to "any other lunch option." It makes me sad to think this way because I know that they read these reviews and care about their business but seriously, you guys need to step up your game. Lunch dollar competition in Doylestown isn't too fierce. A little cilantro or salsa that tastes better than the Tostitos jars is a step in the right direction.

Well, if you read the reviews you probably wouldn't choose this place for a meal. I however, like to find out how bad (or good) a place is for my self so we ventured to Pocos for a meal before a Saturday night comedy show upstairs. Lesson 1) when a 17yr old babysitter warns you that the food is terrible, if you don't heed, it's all on you. Probably rated with the worst food I have ever eaten. Server & bar staff were very nice. Michele to answer your questions: I had chicken Fajitas which weren't seasoned well, and my wife had shrimp chimichanga which she described as mushy and fishy. Why did we come back the 6-7 times even though the owner was rude? Well, people have some bad days and I believe in giving local business my money versus corporations. I am a self proclaimed "foody", what I have to say positive about your restaurant you have a good local, and your new side bar looks great. But, that's where it ends. You need to take stock of your reviews, after reading them again you have an issue with the quality and taste of your food, and the overall professionalism of the staff. Maybe talk to to owner and explain the issues. I don't want to see pocos go under, but Doylestown is super competitive place to eat. I hope this helps, and good luck!

No stars. The owner is always rude and the food is lousy & overpriced. I asked the waiter to change something he said "We don't change the entrees". I said, "Why is it frozen or pre made?" He looked at me and it looked like he was thinking- wow how did he know that? So then we went up to the overpriced comedy club. Terrible seating, packs the people in like rats, a fire disaster waiting to happen. Then the over priced drinks are served in Plastic CUPS! Gave this place another try after a disappointing first experience. Did not see an improvement. Cheese quesadillas tastleless, shimp very fishy. Lettuce on plate was brown at edge. I implore the owners to, instead of argue with pretty much every negative review posted here, take the criticism to heart and make positive changes. The restaurant needs A LOT of work but it isn't impossible. Now that Chipotle is just a few doors down, there will be more competition and the food is simply not cutting it at Poco's.

Even our drinks have a special style that cannot be matched in the area! Lots of haIf you are looking for a fun night out in Doylestown, look no further than Poco's! The restaurant and bar have recently been updated adding more space and a "cooler" atmosphere. The wait staff is terrific--never intrusive, but checking frequently enough to make sure all your needs are met in a timely manner. The management team is engaging from the minute you walk in the door, you feel as if you are visiting friends--lots of laughs and very welcoming. Can't go wrong with the food--my favorite are the Dean's Wings with just enough "heat" quickly cooled by Corona Light! Make sure you try the new steak fajitas and if you are looking for some more spice to the meal, get something done with "MaryLou"...you won't be disappointed. The service was great and the place was spotless so I'm giving them two stars. The food was meh. It was serviceable but wouldn't go out of my way to go there again. The burrito was a bummer, the vegetables were not exactly dazzling and the salsa was watery, but my friend got the taquitos which looked a lot better. Typical bland PA food. It was also overpriced. Some people believe that presentation is everything, but you won't hear this tired old motto at this place. This is Mexican food in the same way that CanCun is a Mexican experience. I ordered something called a "who cares". It was a giant brown wrap that took up the entire plate filled with "stuff" that seems to be a little of everything. It was the worst Mexican entree I've ever had. My wife had a taco and burrito which she enjoyed. The margaritas were good, but priced as you may expect at a better restaurant. The place was quite crowded and the service was good. It was loud and family friendly. The place has potential, but they need a new menu to start followed by a makeover of the decor. Too many other dining options nearby for a 2nd visit any time soon.

This place is really pretty bad, food-wise. I've seriously had way better quality food from street carts. Two good things: our waiter was very nice and a decent waiter overall, and if you have kids, the atmosphere is boisterous enough that you don't have to worry much about them being... kids. The food is an absolute monstrosity, from the quality of the ingredients, to the preparation, to the presentation. I ordered a chimichanga and literally got a chimichanga on an otherwise completely empty plate. Worst chimi ever, too. I would've sworn it was a hot-pocket. The place seems stuck in like 1995as well. The decor, the music all scream 90's. Then the Coke I ordered came. In a pitcher. With a straw in it. I told the waiter "I didn't order that", but he replied cheerfully "that's a coke, that's just how we serve it!" We'll not likely ever go back here. It belongs on Kitchen Nightmares.

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! I have been going to Poco's for years. The food was always good. They jacked up the price of the chimichanga and the portion has shrank. And the last 3 times I went, our order was wrong. Forget Poco's, go to Tu Casa in Chalfont. Same quality food, their chimichanga is $3 cheaper, and the portion is bigger.

Best place to come relax and sip some delicious margaritas. Try a "Preferred" fresh squeezed margarita if you like martinis. It's awesome! I also love their chimichangas, delicios! Their new "Poco's South" is beautiful! Awesome garage doors that open up this bar and it becomes out door! Open, airy, and did I mention its beautiful?! Wayne did an awesome job! Terrible in every way. Overpriced and horrible quality of food. To start out, the host (who is a frightening looking 50 year old weirdo with earrings and a terrible demeanor) wouldn't allow us to sit at a table until the 2 other members of our party arrived..... even though it was 5 pm and the place was nearly empty. We ordered margaritas, which were good but nowhere near worth the $9. Someone at our table ordered an appetizer of taquitos (spelling?) and it came with two. TWO. You could buy a bag of 50 at Costco for a few more bucks than what Poco's charges and they'd probably taste better. Our dinners came out subpar, and I'm being generous. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had absolutely no chicken in it, just cheese. Told the waitress, but didn't send it back because I did not want to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Everyone else's food looked equally as unappetizing and although some enjoyed their plates, the small, unappealing portions were anything but worth the $10-12 they charge. To top it off, when we asked to split our bill the waitress sighed obnoxiously and said "you really should've told me that before you ordered." SERIOUSLY?! I've never once had to do that and it is not difficult to split the bill, I've seen it done hundreds of times. She then proceeded to give us our bills another 20 minutes later and never came back to give change. We had to request it and when the waitress returned with it, she paired it with a snarky comment and walked away. Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible place.

If a Mexican restaurant has terrible margaritas we should run for the hills but combine that with mediocre service and horrible food one has to take the time to warn others to run even faster!!! Expensive and bad- not a good combination- which is a shame because their new bar addition is nice and some of the comedy acts are great but we have tried numerous times and varied dishes and every time it was a huge costly disappointment.

I wish I would have read these reviews before entering this place! I live miles away and ate here because of the convenient location. I should have gone to good old burger king just a few seconds away! I'd know the quality of food and the kids working there would probably have a little more respect for someone much older. Food was horrible...! Just keep reading all the negative reviews as they are true from our experience as well! Management/Owner was rude...! My mother asked if she could get a free refill of sour cream and instead of management (owner) stating no. He rudely and loudly made a scene stating "if it costs us it costs you". She already paid $1.25 for two tablespoons (trying to mask the taste of the poor quality food). She than said sir it cost about $1.25 for a container and managements reply "Does it? How should I know... Do you want more or not"? Of course being timid and embarrassed by his rudeness she replied no. I have told many people about this experience and everyone expressed this was not appropriate behavior from restaurant management/ownership. I was asked why she and I didn't walk out. It actually didn't come to mind because it wouldn't have been the appropriate thing to do. We are Christians! We will never return and pray this man doesn't treat everyone as he did us! This is the first time I have written a review as I was advised to do from a friend that said people need to be aware of our experience. Poor food... Rude management... Too many other restaurants in the area to visit. Please choose another...

My assessment is as follows: At first the service was great! The host was very friendly and nice, very concerned etc.. Our waiter was not very good though. After the order was taken we did not see or hear from him again until we got out check, not even one drink re-fill :( so no stars here. They were very very generous with the chips and salsa, tons of chips and tons of salsa, and the salsa is quite good. One star. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. 80's music going on, not sure why, but hey I like 80's music. One star. The presentation of the food was not as impressive. It does look like something I could have made at home. The tortilla & beans have got to be from giant. Also the side salad/carrots garnish is from giant, almost positive. Minus a star. However, despite appearances it does not taste like something you would get at giant. My meal was actually really good. My wife's meal was very good also. The meat was very tender and full of a lot of flavor. 2 stars. Finally the price. Kind of expensive considering it doesn't come with much else besides a burrito. No rice & beans etc, but they do kind of make up for it with all the chips & salsa. So no stars here. Finally, I would go back to this place to eat their tasty burrito and chips/salsa if it wasn't as pricy. This restaurant has got a few things really figured out, but they need to tighten up a few loose ends and it could be killer place to eat!

you know how you read a review and you think it cant really be as bad as all the other one star reviews because you have been there before, ok, so it was 20 years ago, but still.. well, believe all the one star reviews because it is all true. we were given chips with salsa when we sat down, the waiter was very friendly. the spicier of the two salsa's was uneatable. the mild one had no taste i ordered a burrito, i was served a quesadilla that barely had any filling in it. i ordered a side of beans. they were the absolute worse canned beans i have ever had. my friend order a veggie chimichanga and got the burrito( maybe it was the one i ordered) there was one veggie in it, a piece of broccoli that was probably saved from the last time she was there, 20 years ago. she was looking for to it because when she was there 20 years ago, it was filled with all kinds of veggies, it was huge and yummy. not this time. the bad taste this food leaves in your mouth will even linger to the next day..

I recently went to Poco's before catching a show at the Comedy Caberet upstairs. The venue is appropriately themed for its Mexican cuisine with bright colors and cacti around the establishment. The walls are padded under the bright fabric that adorns them, in case you are bouncing around from the delicious margaritas they serve here. The Cadillac is the best the serve and worth it. The bar also features a modest, but notable beer selection that rounds out it's selection. If you go on a weekend, it may be extremely busy here, so wait times may be an issue. Plan accordingly. However, during our wait, we were consistently served salsa and chips by the staff, making the time more bearable while we slurped down our beverages of choice. The salsa is spicy and saucy, opposed to chunky. Depending on your taste and texture preferences you may or may not like the salsa. The dinner menu is relatively large and has a good selection of Mexican food, and a small American menu for those who aren't brave enough to eat the Mexican entrees. The menu isn't organized well with many of the features not organized by type. For example, all the featured burritos are scattered in the features page. It's something to keep in mind if there's a specific food you enjoy and the first feature isn't specifically what you had in mind. Most of their entrees are made with refried beans and Spanish rice. I could not find a substitute for these options like black beans or brown rice typically the healthier options if someone prefers them. However, the prices are very sensible on the menu. The after effects of dinner were the worst, and made me feel like my entree truly came from Mexico. The after effect was not the cultural experience I intended to have while visiting. I recommend visiting Poco's for a few cocktails, but pass on the dinner unless you have a digestive system that can support it. My wimpy system couldn't handle it.

These people spend more time defending their poor customer service, instead of simply apologizing. It is true that not all the time the client is right. But, the client should always be respected for letting the restaurant know about their experience. Even if it simply the customer's perception of the service. How else can the restaurant improve? This is the first time that i have gone to the trouble of writing a negative review. I have certainly been to many other restaurants where aspects of the service are not great (or have been fantastic). In both cases, the restaurant should hear this. But no way should the restaurant employees or owner, especially, react in any way but take it as an element of the customer experience that they should work to address. Not simply defend it as if nothing is wrong....!

Well I hate to do this , giving it only two stars , service was great and that is why they are getting a star the frozen pitcher of strawberry margaritas was good but not strong that's the other star ,my husband and I got 6 tacos 3 chicken soft 3 meat hard ! I can't tell how bad it was ! Was it cause we were the last customers ? Old food ? Don't know but just horrible no flavor ! We felt rushed , we usually go to las margaritas but this was closer and we were hungry ! We spent almost $70 and and it was just horrible I feel bad cause our server was nice but was clearing our ayes right away ! Didn't offer dessert or more drinks ! Thumb down

We moved to Doylestown recently from Houston, TX. Boy do I miss Texas tex-mex. Mmmmmmm. :-) :-) :-) Oops, sorry, I seem to have digressed there a bit. Where was I again? Oh yeah...Poco's. :-( :-( :-( Put it this way: in Texas I could throw a rock in any direction and despite it possibly hitting the absolute *worst* example of a tex-mex restaurant, it would still be light-years better than Poco's. This place is not only the worst tex-mex I've eaten (or could imagine eating). It's possibly the worst food I've eaten period. It absolutely boggles my mind how any patron of Poco's would choose to come back for a second visit. Seriously, hey...you there, future Poco's repeat customer...you have *no idea* what you're missing. In fact, if I only had the time and energy to start a tex-mex restaurant of my own here in D-town, I could literally just cook food from my memories of what I've eaten down south using my very limited cooking skills and blow. Your. MIND. Seriously, if you honesty thought your Poco's meal was in any way edible, enjoyable tex-mex, then when you tasted my restaurant's food, literally your mind would BLOW UP!! Sorry, I digress again. Perhaps it's not yet obvious how little I want to remember our first and final visit to Poco's. I do remember that my 8-year-old daughter took one bite of her cheese quesadilla and said "ewwwww". My wife and I thought for sure she was just being difficult. After all, how could anyone screw up a quesadilla? So we had a taste and boy was that quesadilla disgusting. Dry, hard tortilla. Greasy, cheap, cafeteria-grade government cheese filling. Imagine eating the center of a used cardboard pizza box. That's how this quesadilla tasted. If you've read this far, please do yourself a favor and stop considering a visit to Poco's, repeat or otherwise. Instead drive 30min to Las Margaritas in Southampton. This place is at least a close approximation of "okay" Texas tex-mex, which means *monumentally* better than Poco's. And certainly the best we've had in the area so far.

Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews from this place. Went for the first time with my boyfriend....awesome first impression!quick service on a friday night. Ashley our server was so courteous and quick to our table at all times. Hands down BEST PINA COLADAS ive had in a while. Highly recommend garlic hot wings. Also....the mango margaritas taste like delicious mango flavored ritas water ice!!!!!!

Went here with a friend last night for dinner. Service was horrible and food wasn't much better. I got a drink that was so strong, that I couldn't even drink it. My food was so spicy that I needed a water, which took me 20 minutes to get. My friend's tacos had absolutely no seasoning on them, so they were literally white chicken with lettuce and a few shreds of cheese. I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, but I was definitely expecting something better than we got. I've wanted to try this place since I moved. I can say I did. I can also say that I will never be going back.

I went to Poco's today for the first time in about 15 years and I doubt I'll ever go again. The most positive thing I can say is that the service was prompt and friendly and the new addition was spacious. My Mom and I were both surprised there wasn't a lunch menu and were even more surprised by the prices. 1 taco was $4!! Given the high prices we decided to split the fish tacos and order a side of rice and beans as well as a small order of guacamole. The fish tacos were ok but at nearly $12 I felt a little ripped off by the minimal amount of fish and the large amount of cabbage! The rice was basic at best. The refried beans I'm sure were from a can. And the small side of guacamole...less than 2 ounces and cost $3.50! Our bill came to $25 (including 2 ices teas). Next time I want Mexican I'll go a few minutes up 611 to El Mariachi (much more authentic with much friendly prices.

Poco's serves Tex-Mex cuisine. I heard that on certain nights, comedians perform (either there or next door) and (better yet) are actually funny - haven't had a chance to check this out. Regardless, Poco's has an unambiguously festive decor of faux palm trees and holiday lights that might make you laugh. Of the several times I've been there, only once did I encounter a rude host staffer. Service (Tara, and others) has thankfully always been helpful. For kicks, I ordered a hot dog, and it was good - can't beat sauteed onions! Also have had their BBQ, ribs[1], chicken fingers, and appetizer sampler, which are all standard fare. I just came from Poco's and boy am I starving! Why am I starving after just coming from a restaurant? Because the food was...how do you say in spanish?...oh yea, El Gross-o. They should change the name of this place to "The Can Opener" because after trying to eat what they served me it's clearly the only kitchen utensil they use. The Salsa must come from the Dollar store and the beef definitely comes from cardboard cows. I'm not sure how this place has stayed in business for as long as they have unless they have been funneling in money from the Pay-by-the-hour motel they are attached to. Update: after telling myself I would never return some friends wanted to go for beer and tacos. The beer was cold and the tacos weren't too shabby. I've raised my rating a bit. Hopefully things continue to improve.

This is a fun place to have a few drinks. Food is just ok. The bartenders are all great. The owner however is a turn off. My last visit there the was angry about something and literally throw someone's check with the credit card holder at the wall behind him and left it on the floor behind him for a while. This may be the second worst Mexican of my long and varied career as an eater. They don't even try to make things seem Mexican. Everything is bland and lifeless. The place itself is all right. The staff is mainly acceptable. But the food does not get there from anywhere. They need to remove the word "Mexican" from their sign and leave the word "American." If you have rated this place above two stars, get back in your car and continue north on 616 to the tacky little shopping center in Plumsteadville. Find El Mariachi. Eat something. Be ashamed of your Pocos review. Change it now that you know better.

I am sorry to say that I agree with the previous review. How in the world is this place still open?? Believe me, I hate ripping into a business that has existed for so long but I would hate for someone else to make the mistake of coming here as I did. I stopped into Poco's on a Saturday afternoon. My husband suggested it because he passes it on his commute to work and said that it has been open for a long time, assuming it must be good. Big mistake. My first cue to turn around should have been that the parking lot was completely empty but we went in anyway. We sat the bar and asked for menus. I decided on a House Sangria. The menu said something like, "our secret blend of muddled fruits and red wine." Sounds homemade, right? Wrong. Out comes a bottle of Yago Sant'gria and into a glass it goes with the addition of a lemon, lime, and orange wedge. For a Mexican restaurant that describes "our secret blend" sangria, I'd expect it not to come out of a bottle I can buy at the store for $15 and for it not to be $8. Moving on. We ordered the Ethel & Lucy nachos. It came with what it said, chips, beef, peppers, and cheese, and nothing more. No lettuce, tomato, sour cream, or other common nacho side. The nachos tasted fine although there was barely any beef on it (and by the way, it was not ground beef as stated on the menu, it was shredded). The thing that shocked me was, after the bartender gave us our nachos, she went into a cooler under the bar and pulled out a small dish of salsa. There was nothing covering it and it was obviously sitting in there for a long time because there was a line of dried out salsa around the rim. You know that line? The one that comes after you leave a soda or iced tea sit out on your counter all night? Yeah, that line. And not that this is a big deal to me but the bartender was eating a meal behind the bar when we were there. I personally don't care but it just seems unprofessional. I will not be returning to Poco's. I was sadly disappointed and expected much more from a place that has been open for so long.

At first I thought this placed SUCKED!!! All b/c of the ground beef... DO NOT ORDER GROUND BEEF!!! It is greasy and unappealing. They need to strain that stuff and or use a different grade of beef. Other than that, the Black Bean Soup is awesome and the Chimichanga is GREAT!!! Stick with shredded beef or chicken and you will be satisfied!!!

Okay, I will admit that if you were to rewind about three years, I'd say that I wasn't a fan of Poco's, but after reading an article in the D-town magazine about them, I was inspired to give them another chance. As many other Yelper's have mentioned, this is definitely a tex-mex kinda place. If you're looking for 100% authentic Mexican, you're better off going to downtown Quakertown (where some of my favorites are). Poco's puts a different twist on Mexican food which I appreciate. My recent visits have left me satisfied and wanting to go back. The atmosphere is fun and lively so just going for drinks can be a blast, but I wouldn't leave without having their new fried ice cream. This is the real deal people - not just ice cream with corn flakes or rice krispies sprinkled on top...they fry the ice cream which is coated in a crispy outside layer and cover it in toppings of your choice...soooooooo good.

Poco's has been in the bottom of the Courthouse Motor Inn on Main Street in D-town for years. And in all those years the food has never improved - yet people still go here and many, many people LOVE it. Just not me. I don't HATE it - it's just "Meh"xican. Boring, nacho-esque Ameri-mex. (Or worse, Pennsy-Mex?) But I do love Doug Esch - and all the D. Esch boyz. Lot's of nostalgia for me at Poco's. Save me a barstool, pour me a margarita, rocks 'n salt - and I'll be downing nachos along with the rest of 'em.

Been eating here for 15 plus years. Never had a bad meal. Wide selection on the menu. House margarita is average. Other drinks are fine. The best way to enjoy Poco's is to talk to Wayne, the owner, when you arrive. Ask which special he recommends and why. He is quick to answer, loves to explain where in Mexico he got the idea, and always stops over to see what you think. Provided you choose a food you like, you will have an enjoyable Mexican meal. But, mind you, it is a Mexican spin (san, the chicken fingers). The photos below don't do the specials justice. This is a classic, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives local joint. You either like it or you don't. But, worth a try for something more than chicken fingers and tacos.

I have been going to Poco's for over 8 years now and I have never had a a bad meal or drink for that matter. Over the years the owner Wayne has tried to change things up to keep it fresh, like his weekly specials Thursday - Sunday and Taco Tuesday is one of my favs, especially when its "buffalo" chicken or pork tacos. I have seen some reviews complaining about it not being authentic Mexican cuisine, however the restaurant is Mexican-American with a southern California flair and they have hit the nail on the head on that one.

I liked the decor of the restaurant/bar and the comedy club upstairs but it ends there. We were seated at our reservation time and provided plenty of chips and salsa, which were okay , not great. Asked for guacamole and got the "large" order. All I will say is I pity the folks that order the small. The big problem though was that we ordered our food and waited an hour plus to get it. Other tables, who were seating well after us, received their food sooner and when ours eventually came, mine was warm at best. We only had 20 minutes before the comedy club opened its doors so no opportunity to send it back or even complain. Quality of food was average to poor overall. Thought food and bar drinks were pricey as well. Had higher expectations for this place and should have taken the majority of previous yelp reviews to heart before spending the time and money here. Would definitely recommend the comedy club thought.

I was running some errands with my young daughter in the shopping center north of Doylestown. We'd planned to go into town and wander around for a little while but the time got away from us and we were hungry for lunch. Poco's was a good option that wasn't fast food in that area. It's not gourmet, but the service was prompt and friendly, the food (flauta for me, sides of beans and rice and guac for her) was fine for both me and my kinda-picky nine-year-old, and the place was clean. It was neither the best Tex-Mex I've ever had nor the worst, but it was a nice satisfying and reasonably priced lunch.

This place is great!! I've been going there for over 10 years without a problem!! Their menu is quite large with an array of Mexican and American options. I personally enjoy the cheesesteaks, wings, and fajitas. They have a wonderful happy hour during the week - 1/2 off drinks!! Also the staff has always been friendly and usually helpful. You won't be disappointed if you get the big daddy margarita to go along with your food. This place rocks!!!

As an avid eater, and lifetime lover of this business, I can honestly say this is one of my top 3 restaurants. If you are looking for the MOST authentic mexican food on the planet, you are barking up the wrong tree. Most of the reviews I have seen are people seeking pork pibil and goat tacos, SERIOUSLY?!? What you will find is an amazing atmosphere, great service, fantastic home cooked food. Oh, and one of the most welcoming, clever and witty hosts, (the owner Wayne), in the business today. Try the Dean's wings, (the best "off the wall" wing sauce on the planet, and the green Mary Lou, a spicy treat. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Possibly the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Split a pitcher of (margarita $27) between myself and one other person without a buzz. It tasted like water, literally. A five year old could have made the food better - it costs extra to add meat to tacos and quesadillas...at a Mexican restaurant? Ten bucks a meal unlimited stale store bought chips and salsa. Don't spend the time. Server was very nice.

Recently gave Poco's another try for Cinco de Mayo and was disappointed again. This is your average tex-mex food, with nothing outstanding. Oh and the salsa and chips leaves much to be desired imho. very watery salsa. some like it that way; i prefer to see some ingredients left intact.

The hot dog with chili on top says it all. First off, good Mexican/Tex Mex food doesn't exist in Pennsylvania, period. This would probably be the last restaurant I would visit if I was looking to go out in Doylestown. The food is bland and the margaritas follow suit. Poco's has gotten so bad over the years, I really can't imagine ever going back there again. I remember when they opened it was a cool hangout and the food was a little pricey, but good then. The decor is brash, gaudy really, the music: 80's club culture. Their drinks have always been weak , under-poured. Having gone back now twice in the last year on friends' suggestion, and after the LAST time I decided never to go back, they have scaled back their portions even more, and the worst part of it is their food lacks any authentic Mexican flavor. Imagine a Mexican restaurant and their food is actually bland. Even the gratis chips tasted weird like they use cheap oil for frying or something. On what appeared to be a slow night, my friend had a taco salad and the entire one side of the taco bowl was cracked off and the food was spilling onto the plate. My chimichanga had zip flavor, was topped with button sized scoops of sour cream and nasty guacamole and was served with about a tablespoon of chopped iceberg lettuce and microscopic carrot slivers. The service was nice enough, but sorry, you don't get a chance to strike out again. $30 for crap, and we didn't even drink this time. Poco's sucks. Goodbye forever.

This place looks sketchy from the outside (it's attached to a motel) and it's overloaded with Hawaiian decorations on the inside, but the food isn't bad! Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but I think it's the only Mexican in Doylestown so it does the job just fine. They also have a few American items on the menu incase someone in your party doesn't like Mexican.

Ethyl and Lucy, need I say more. Dean's wings are outstanding, and Joe's Latest rocks. Great little restaurant, I've been going for years and can't speak highly enough about it. If you are looking for authentic mexican look elsewhere however. If you, like me, prefer "americanized" mexican this is the place for you. Comedy Cabaret upstairs has some great comedians too.

Highly Disappointed in this place. Went here for my sister in laws b-day as she used to live nearby, and I think that must be why she has good memories. First of all, the decor is really tacky and unoriginal. The chips and salsa are AWFUL. I mean, you are a Mexican restaurant- you can't even make fresh salsa? It's like 5 ingredients. Instead they give you this liquidy crap, poured straight from a glass syrup jar. It's meant for serving syrup people, NOT salsa. This place is called an American-Mexican restaurant, so I guess that explains some of the weird things on the menu. But when I want Mexican, I want real Mexican...not Mexican-American. I asked the waiter if they made their own taco shells, I should have known better with the chips and salsa...but figured I would ask anyways. He told me that they did, so I ordered the tacos. Tacos come out, and what do i see? Boxed frigging taco shells, how could he say they make them there? Needless to say, I've had better tacos at Taco Bell. My husband didn't care for his burrito either, and he grew up in CA so he knows good Mexican food. I didn't want to ruin the birthday dinner, so I didn't complain...I just knew that I would never be back!

Went here with a friend last night for dinner. Service was horrible and food wasn't much better. I got a drink that was so strong, that I couldn't even drink it. My food was so spicy that I needed a water, which took me 20 minutes to get. My friend's tacos had absolutely no seasoning on them, so they were literally white chicken with lettuce and a few shreds of cheese. I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, but I was definitely expecting something better than we got. I've wanted to try this place since I moved. I can say I did. I can also say that I will never be going back.

I wish I would have read these reviews before entering this place! I live miles away and ate here because of the convenient location. I should have gone to good old burger king just a few seconds away! I'd know the quality of food and the kids working there would probably have a little more respect for someone much older. Food was horrible...! Just keep reading all the negative reviews as they are true from our experience as well! Management/Owner was rude...! My mother asked if she could get a free refill of sour cream and instead of management (owner) stating no. He rudely and loudly made a scene stating "if it costs us it costs you". She already paid $1.25 for two tablespoons (trying to mask the taste of the poor quality food). She than said sir it cost about $1.25 for a container and managements reply "Does it? How should I know... Do you want more or not"? Of course being timid and embarrassed by his rudeness she replied no. I have told many people about this experience and everyone expressed this was not appropriate behavior from restaurant management/ownership. I was asked why she and I didn't walk out. It actually didn't come to mind because it wouldn't have been the appropriate thing to do. We are Christians! We will never return and pray this man doesn't treat everyone as he did us! This is the first time I have written a review as I was advised to do from a friend that said people need to be aware of our experience. Poor food... Rude management... Too many other restaurants in the area to visit. Please choose another...

My assessment is as follows: At first the service was great! The host was very friendly and nice, very concerned etc.. Our waiter was not very good though. After the order was taken we did not see or hear from him again until we got out check, not even one drink re-fill :( so no stars here. They were very very generous with the chips and salsa, tons of chips and tons of salsa, and the salsa is quite good. One star. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. 80's music going on, not sure why, but hey I like 80's music. One star. The presentation of the food was not as impressive. It does look like something I could have made at home. The tortilla & beans have got to be from giant. Also the side salad/carrots garnish is from giant, almost positive. Minus a star. However, despite appearances it does not taste like something you would get at giant. My meal was actually really good. My wife's meal was very good also. The meat was very tender and full of a lot of flavor. 2 stars. Finally the price. Kind of expensive considering it doesn't come with much else besides a burrito. No rice & beans etc, but they do kind of make up for it with all the chips & salsa. So no stars here. Finally, I would go back to this place to eat their tasty burrito and chips/salsa if it wasn't as pricy. This restaurant has got a few things really figured out, but they need to tighten up a few loose ends and it could be killer place to eat!

you know how you read a review and you think it cant really be as bad as all the other one star reviews because you have been there before, ok, so it was 20 years ago, but still.. well, believe all the one star reviews because it is all true. we were given chips with salsa when we sat down, the waiter was very friendly. the spicier of the two salsa's was uneatable. the mild one had no taste i ordered a burrito, i was served a quesadilla that barely had any filling in it. i ordered a side of beans. they were the absolute worse canned beans i have ever had. my friend order a veggie chimichanga and got the burrito( maybe it was the one i ordered) there was one veggie in it, a piece of broccoli that was probably saved from the last time she was there, 20 years ago. she was looking for to it because when she was there 20 years ago, it was filled with all kinds of veggies, it was huge and yummy. not this time. the bad taste this food leaves in your mouth will even linger to the next day..

I recently went to Poco's before catching a show at the Comedy Caberet upstairs. The venue is appropriately themed for its Mexican cuisine with bright colors and cacti around the establishment. The walls are padded under the bright fabric that adorns them, in case you are bouncing around from the delicious margaritas they serve here. The Cadillac is the best the serve and worth it. The bar also features a modest, but notable beer selection that rounds out it's selection. If you go on a weekend, it may be extremely busy here, so wait times may be an issue. Plan accordingly. However, during our wait, we were consistently served salsa and chips by the staff, making the time more bearable while we slurped down our beverages of choice. The salsa is spicy and saucy, opposed to chunky. Depending on your taste and texture preferences you may or may not like the salsa. The dinner menu is relatively large and has a good selection of Mexican food, and a small American menu for those who aren't brave enough to eat the Mexican entrees. The menu isn't organized well with many of the features not organized by type. For example, all the featured burritos are scattered in the features page. It's something to keep in mind if there's a specific food you enjoy and the first feature isn't specifically what you had in mind. Most of their entrees are made with refried beans and Spanish rice. I could not find a substitute for these options like black beans or brown rice typically the healthier options if someone prefers them. However, the prices are very sensible on the menu. The after effects of dinner were the worst, and made me feel like my entree truly came from Mexico. The after effect was not the cultural experience I intended to have while visiting. I recommend visiting Poco's for a few cocktails, but pass on the dinner unless you have a digestive system that can support it. My wimpy system couldn't handle it.

I went to Poco's today for the first time in about 15 years and I doubt I'll ever go again. The most positive thing I can say is that the service was prompt and friendly and the new addition was spacious. My Mom and I were both surprised there wasn't a lunch menu and were even more surprised by the prices. 1 taco was $4!! Given the high prices we decided to split the fish tacos and order a side of rice and beans as well as a small order of guacamole. The fish tacos were ok but at nearly $12 I felt a little ripped off by the minimal amount of fish and the large amount of cabbage! The rice was basic at best. The refried beans I'm sure were from a can. And the small side of guacamole...less than 2 ounces and cost $3.50! Our bill came to $25 (including 2 ices teas). Next time I want Mexican I'll go a few minutes up 611 to El Mariachi (much more authentic with much friendly prices.

Poco's serves Tex-Mex cuisine. I heard that on certain nights, comedians perform (either there or next door) and (better yet) are actually funny - haven't had a chance to check this out. Regardless, Poco's has an unambiguously festive decor of faux palm trees and holiday lights that might make you laugh. Of the several times I've been there, only once did I encounter a rude host staffer. Service (Tara, and others) has thankfully always been helpful. For kicks, I ordered a hot dog, and it was good - can't beat sauteed onions! Also have had their BBQ, ribs[1], chicken fingers, and appetizer sampler, which are all standard fare. I just came from Poco's and boy am I starving! Why am I starving after just coming from a restaurant? Because the food was...how do you say in spanish?...oh yea, El Gross-o. They should change the name of this place to "The Can Opener" because after trying to eat what they served me it's clearly the only kitchen utensil they use. The Salsa must come from the Dollar store and the beef definitely comes from cardboard cows. I'm not sure how this place has stayed in business for as long as they have unless they have been funneling in money from the Pay-by-the-hour motel they are attached to. Update: after telling myself I would never return some friends wanted to go for beer and tacos. The beer was cold and the tacos weren't too shabby. I've raised my rating a bit. Hopefully things continue to improve.

My last visit there the was angry about something and literally throw someone's check with the credit card holder at the wall behind him and left it on the floor behind him for a while. I am sorry to say that I agree with the previous review. How in the world is this place still open?? Believe me, I hate ripping into a business that has existed for so long but I would hate for someone else to make the mistake of coming here as I did. I stopped into Poco's on a Saturday afternoon. My husband suggested it because he passes it on his commute to work and said that it has been open for a long time, assuming it must be good. Big mistake. My first cue to turn around should have been that the parking lot was completely empty but we went in anyway. We sat the bar and asked for menus. I decided on a House Sangria. The menu said something like, "our secret blend of muddled fruits and red wine." Sounds homemade, right? Wrong. Out comes a bottle of Yago Sant'gria and into a glass it goes with the addition of a lemon, lime, and orange wedge. For a Mexican restaurant that describes "our secret blend" sangria, I'd expect it not to come out of a bottle I can buy at the store for $15 and for it not to be $8. Moving on. We ordered the Ethel & Lucy nachos. It came with what it said, chips, beef, peppers, and cheese, and nothing more. No lettuce, tomato, sour cream, or other common nacho side. The nachos tasted fine although there was barely any beef on it (and by the way, it was not ground beef as stated on the menu, it was shredded). The thing that shocked me was, after the bartender gave us our nachos, she went into a cooler under the bar and pulled out a small dish of salsa. There was nothing covering it and it was obviously sitting in there for a long time because there was a line of dried out salsa around the rim. You know that line? The one that comes after you leave a soda or iced tea sit out on your counter all night? Yeah, that line. And not that this is a big deal to me but the bartender was eating a meal behind the bar when we were there. I personally don't care but it just seems unprofessional. I will not be returning to Poco's. I was sadly disappointed and expected much more from a place that has been open for so long.

At first I thought this placed SUCKED!!! All b/c of the ground beef... DO NOT ORDER GROUND BEEF!!! It is greasy and unappealing. They need to strain that stuff and or use a different grade of beef. Okay, I will admit that if you were to rewind about three years, I'd say that I wasn't a fan of Poco's, but after reading an article in the D-town magazine about them, I was inspired to give them another chance. As many other Yelper's have mentioned, this is definitely a tex-mex kinda place. If you're looking for 100% authentic Mexican, you're better off going to downtown Quakertown (where some of my favorites are). Poco's puts a different twist on Mexican food which I appreciate. My recent visits have left me satisfied and wanting to go back. The atmosphere is fun and lively so just going for drinks can be a blast, but I wouldn't leave without having their new fried ice cream. This is the real deal people - not just ice cream with corn flakes or rice krispies sprinkled on top...they fry the ice cream which is coated in a crispy outside layer and cover it in toppings of your choice...soooooooo good.

Terrible in every way. Overpriced and horrible quality of food. To start out, the host (who is a frightening looking 50 year old weirdo with earrings and a terrible demeanor) wouldn't allow us to sit at a table until the 2 other members of our party arrived..... even though it was 5 pm and the place was nearly empty. We ordered margaritas, which were good but nowhere near worth the $9. Someone at our table ordered an appetizer of taquitos (spelling?) and it came with two. TWO. You could buy a bag of 50 at Costco for a few more bucks than what Poco's charges and they'd probably taste better. Our dinners came out subpar, and I'm being generous. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had absolutely no chicken in it, just cheese. Told the waitress, but didn't send it back because I did not want to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Everyone else's food looked equally as unappetizing and although some enjoyed their plates, the small, unappealing portions were anything but worth the $10-12 they charge. To top it off, when we asked to split our bill the waitress sighed obnoxiously and said "you really should've told me that before you ordered." SERIOUSLY?! I've never once had to do that and it is not difficult to split the bill, I've seen it done hundreds of times. She then proceeded to give us our bills another 20 minutes later and never came back to give change. We had to request it and when the waitress returned with it, she paired it with a snarky comment and walked away. Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible place.

If a Mexican restaurant has terrible margaritas we should run for the hills but combine that with mediocre service and horrible food one has to take the time to warn others to run even faster!!! Expensive and bad- not a good combination- which is a shame because their new bar addition is nice and some of the comedy acts are great but we have tried numerous times and varied dishes and every time it was a huge costly disappointment.

Even our drinks have a special style that cannot be matched in the area! Lots of haIf you are looking for a fun night out in Doylestown, look no further than Poco's! The restaurant and bar have recently been updated adding more space and a "cooler" atmosphere. The wait staff is terrific--never intrusive, but checking frequently enough to make sure all your needs are met in a timely manner. The management team is engaging from the minute you walk in the door, you feel as if you are visiting friends--lots of laughs and very welcoming. Can't go wrong with the food--my favorite are the Dean's Wings with just enough "heat" quickly cooled by Corona Light! Make sure you try the new steak fajitas and if you are looking for some more spice to the meal, get something done with "MaryLou"...you won't be disappointed. Good food, good service and lots of fun for a night out...enjoy!! and special events to provide a fun filled time any day of the year!

These people spend more time defending their poor customer service, instead of simply apologizing. It is true that not all the time the client is right. But, the client should always be respected for letting the restaurant know about their experience. Even if it simply the customer's perception of the service. How else can the restaurant improve? This is the first time that i have gone to the trouble of writing a negative review. I have certainly been to many other restaurants where aspects of the service are not great (or have been fantastic). In both cases, the restaurant should hear this. But no way should the restaurant employees or owner, especially, react in any way but take it as an element of the customer experience that they should work to address. Not simply defend it as if nothing is wrong....!

Well, if you read the reviews you probably wouldn't choose this place for a meal. I however, like to find out how bad (or good) a place is for my self so we ventured to Pocos for a meal before a Saturday night comedy show upstairs. Lesson 1) when a 17yr old babysitter warns you that the food is terrible, if you don't heed, it's all on you. Probably rated with the worst food I have ever eaten. Server & bar staff were very nice. Don't take the stomach distress out on them.

Michele to answer your questions: I had chicken Fajitas which weren't seasoned well, and my wife had shrimp chimichanga which she described as mushy and fishy. Why did we come back the 6-7 times even though the owner was rude? Well, people have some bad days and I believe in giving local business my money versus corporations. I am a self proclaimed "foody", what I have to say positive about your restaurant you have a good local, and your new side bar looks great. But, that's where it ends. You need to take stock of your reviews, after reading them again you have an issue with the quality and taste of your food, and the overall professionalism of the staff. Maybe talk to to owner and explain the issues. I don't want to see pocos go under, but Doylestown is super competitive place to eat. I hope this helps, and good luck!

So consistently mediocre...overpriced under-spiced insult to American Mexican food. I give Taco Bell a higher rating than this. Poco's did a renovation with an enclosed glass patio & bar but that still doesn't make up for the terrible food and lackluster margaritas. While the menu is extensive and enticingly worded, the food doesn't live up to its descriptions. Chicken Fajitas were served with cold white flour things labeled tortillas and the chicken was bland with maybe a lot of oregano or other stale mystery spice. It was served on a plate that had been microwaved. Guacamole consisted of a green tasteless mush that could have been made in China. It was that authentic. The other dish which was a grey meat special, I wish I could delete from my taste receptor cell memory. We remembered why we didn't like Pocos 10 years ago and sadly, nothing has changed regarding food quality. However, if you're into hanging out at a local bar, this is a good spot to meet & greet fellow barflies. *Response to Michelle L.: I think it's great you're taking the time to respond on Yelp to the many negative reviews. I hope Pocos does follow through & make improvements. Those fajitas I had the other week were just horrible. You may want to look for other food vendors to supply your tortillas. And new recipes? Just a suggestion. Everything we had was sub par. We're not the only people who feel this way. Eating at your establishment was a total waste of money. I'm writing this on Yelp hoping to save somebody else the expensive mistake of mediocre food. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I went there. And I've had better margaritas at chain restaurants where they openly admit to using a mix. But hey, if you say it's not, ok. Read previous reviews. Nobody loves your margaritas. Be the change, Michelle L.! Or call Restaurant Impossible. He'd have a field day with your food.

Pocos won't blow you away with their culinary skills, but it's good for those locals looking for Mexican without going too far. Great for kids and the outdoor seating area looks cool (I haven't sat there though). Reasonably priced and margarita's are on the menu. I'd add a half star if I could.

The burrito at Poco's is more akin to something you'd get in your grade school cafeteria rather than something that you would see at a restaurant for adults. It is mushy and incoherent. The side salad it comes with is hilariously low effort. Both mild and "super spicy" salsas taste of tomato paste and laziness. All throughout my lunch, I closed my eyes and prayed that I would be magically transported to Chipotle. I found that, like a million times before, even the wish that's wished the hardest will often go unanswered. No, I'm not comparing this to "traditional Mexican" in the hopes that it stands up. I'm simply comparing this to "any other lunch option." It makes me sad to think this way because I know that they read these reviews and care about their business but seriously, you guys need to step up your game. Lunch dollar competition in Doylestown isn't too fierce. A little cilantro or salsa that tastes better than the Tostitos jars is a step in the right direction.

Located away from the hustle and bustle of crammy downtown doylestown. Also has a comedy place attached but not related to the restaurant. Of course the margarita's here are ggggrrrreeeeaaaatttt!!!

We first ate at Poco's nearly 14 years ago---and we've enjoyed eating there on a regularly basis ever since! The Chicken Fajita Burrito is our absolute favorite! And I really like the roasted salsa...it is the best! The staff is great, and the owner has always been kind to us...in fact, he's gone over and above on several occasions to be extremely good to us! We really like Poco's!

Gave this place another try after a disappointing first experience. Did not see an improvement. Cheese quesadillas tastleless, shimp very fishy. Lettuce on plate was brown at edge. I implore the owners to, instead of argue with pretty much every negative review posted here, take the criticism to heart and make positive changes. The restaurant needs A LOT of work but it isn't impossible. Now that Chipotle is just a few doors down, there will be more competition and the food is simply not cutting it at Poco's.

We moved to Doylestown recently from Houston, TX. Boy do I miss Texas tex-mex. Mmmmmmm. :-) :-) :-) Oops, sorry, I seem to have digressed there a bit. Where was I again? Oh yeah...Poco's. :-( :-( :-( Put it this way: in Texas I could throw a rock in any direction and despite it possibly hitting the absolute *worst* example of a tex-mex restaurant, it would still be light-years better than Poco's. This place is not only the worst tex-mex I've eaten (or could imagine eating). It's possibly the worst food I've eaten period. It absolutely boggles my mind how any patron of Poco's would choose to come back for a second visit. Seriously, hey...you there, future Poco's repeat customer...you have *no idea* what you're missing. In fact, if I only had the time and energy to start a tex-mex restaurant of my own here in D-town, I could literally just cook food from my memories of what I've eaten down south using my very limited cooking skills and blow. Your. MIND. Seriously, if you honesty thought your Poco's meal was in any way edible, enjoyable tex-mex, then when you tasted my restaurant's food, literally your mind would BLOW UP!! Sorry, I digress again. Perhaps it's not yet obvious how little I want to remember our first and final visit to Poco's. I do remember that my 8-year-old daughter took one bite of her cheese quesadilla and said "ewwwww". My wife and I thought for sure she was just being difficult. After all, how could anyone screw up a quesadilla? So we had a taste and boy was that quesadilla disgusting. Dry, hard tortilla. Greasy, cheap, cafeteria-grade government cheese filling. Imagine eating the center of a used cardboard pizza box. That's how this quesadilla tasted. If you've read this far, please do yourself a favor and stop considering a visit to Poco's, repeat or otherwise. Instead drive 30min to Las Margaritas in Southampton. This place is at least a close approximation of "okay" Texas tex-mex, which means *monumentally* better than Poco's. And certainly the best we've had in the area so far.

Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews from this place. Went for the first time with my boyfriend....awesome first impression!quick service on a friday night. Ashley our server was so courteous and quick to our table at all times. Hands down BEST PINA COLADAS ive had in a while. Highly recommend garlic hot wings. Also....the mango margaritas taste like delicious mango flavored ritas water ice!!!!!!

Food is OK but I watched the owner pour a patron's drink out and tell him to "get his check" for questioning the alcohol content of a margarita. Can't recommend a joint where that goes down.

No stars. The owner is always rude and the food is lousy & overpriced. I asked the waiter to change something he said "We don't change the entrees". I said, "Why is it frozen or pre made?" He looked at me and it looked like he was thinking- wow how did he know that? So then we went up to the overpriced comedy club. Terrible seating, packs the people in like rats, a fire disaster waiting to happen. Then the over priced drinks are served in Plastic CUPS! The comics were not that great and one had a really foul mouth. Avoid this place.

Some people believe that presentation is everything, but you won't hear this tired old motto at this place. This is Mexican food in the same way that CanCun is a Mexican experience. I ordered something called a "who cares". It was a giant brown wrap that took up the entire plate filled with "stuff" that seems to be a little of everything. It was the worst Mexican entree I've ever had. My wife had a taco and burrito which she enjoyed. The margaritas were good, but priced as you may expect at a better restaurant. The place was quite crowded and the service was good. It was loud and family friendly. The place has potential, but they need a new menu to start followed by a makeover of the decor. Too many other dining options nearby for a 2nd visit any time soon.

This place is really pretty bad, food-wise. I've seriously had way better quality food from street carts. Two good things: our waiter was very nice and a decent waiter overall, and if you have kids, the atmosphere is boisterous enough that you don't have to worry much about them being... kids. The food is an absolute monstrosity, from the quality of the ingredients, to the preparation, to the presentation. I ordered a chimichanga and literally got a chimichanga on an otherwise completely empty plate. Worst chimi ever, too. I would've sworn it was a hot-pocket. The place seems stuck in like 1995as well. The decor, the music all scream 90's. Then the Coke I ordered came. In a pitcher. With a straw in it. I told the waiter "I didn't order that", but he replied cheerfully "that's a coke, that's just how we serve it!" We'll not likely ever go back here. It belongs on Kitchen Nightmares.

If you crave reheated refried beans and terrible service then make a reservation. Otherwise I would not recommend this place unless you ate passing through for the comedy Club that is above the restaurant.

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! I have been going to Poco's for years. The food was always good. They jacked up the price of the chimichanga and the portion has shrank. And the last 3 times I went, our order was wrong. Forget Poco's, go to Tu Casa in Chalfont. Same quality food, their chimichanga is $3 cheaper, and the portion is bigger.

Best place to come relax and sip some delicious margaritas. Try a "Preferred" fresh squeezed margarita if you like martinis. It's awesome! I also love their chimichangas, delicios! Their new "Poco's South" is beautiful! Awesome garage doors that open up this bar and it becomes out door! Open, airy, and did I mention its beautiful?! Wayne did an awesome job! Surely the new hot spot in Doylestown! Check it out and see for yourself.

Well I hate to do this , giving it only two stars , service was great and that is why they are getting a star the frozen pitcher of strawberry margaritas was good but not strong that's the other star ,my husband and I got 6 tacos 3 chicken soft 3 meat hard ! I can't tell how bad it was ! Was it cause we were the last customers ? Old food ? Don't know but just horrible no flavor ! We felt rushed , we usually go to las margaritas but this was closer and we were hungry ! We spent almost $70 and and it was just horrible I feel bad cause our server was nice but was clearing our ayes right away ! Didn't offer dessert or more drinks ! Thumb down

The restaurant exudes low class from the moment you walk through the door. Condoms in bowls on the bar acting as a classless chotchkey/giveaway is pathetic and classless. Oh yeah, the food is greasy and heavy. That's not mexican!
