3.5 stars really. popped in for a quick drink on a warm night after a gig. service was prompt even though the place was pretty crowded. margarita wasn't fancy, maybe a tad sweet, but it was generous. my friend got a hoppy IPA that he said more than satisfied. the outdoor seating -- how had i never seen the patio before? -- glorious. if you can find a place where the smokers aren't (!), the patio is a great place to hang out. easy to find a table, nicely lit, fun vibe. go and be groovy.

I always loved it here but the past two experiences have been terrible. It took over 20 minutes to get our check after asking for it and it took 20 minutes another time when waiting to order. Not planning on going back.

Excellent American Bar food scene. Reasonably priced and the food is constantly good. Great outdoor seating in the lively section of Doylestown restaurants. The menu changes so there are always new options to try. The Spicy State Street burger and Cheeses teak are always good choices.

My wife and I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. We were promptly seated upstairs in a cosy section of the restaurant.Jess was our server and she was prompt in taking our orders. We went with an order of a fish n chips and turkey burger where I think the fish they had was the haddock. I was impressed that the restaurant was willing to make a substitution and give us a turkey burger instead of a regular burger. Our orders came out reasonably quickly. I really enjoy food that is served piping hot and that was one of the things that stood out at the restaurant: the food was very hot (as it should be). I had the fish n' chips and I found the fish to be fresh and nicely fried. Not all was hunky dory though. The sauteed vegetables that my wife got seemed syrupy. Why would vegetables be sweet/ syrupy? Also, the up-charge for the vegetables at $3 (I think) seemed excessive. Those few things are what cause me to take off a star. One final word - I left my hat at the restaurant by mistake and I didn't realize it until I was back at my apartment. I reached out to the restaurant right then and they offered to hold it until later till I came back to retrieve it. The next weekend I was able to go the restaurant and pick up my hat. Thanks to the owner, Chad, for helping me out on that front.

Was in Doylestown on a Sunday afternoon with our dogs and saw they were one of the few (only?) establishments that allowed dogs on the patio, so we decided to give it a try. The placed looked good from the sidewalk and their expansive patio was inviting. Service was good, and they immediately offered some ice cold water for the dogs A+...it was a hot day and they loved that. It was mid/late afternoon, so we just split some appetizers, as it was too early for dinner and too hot for much food. We tried the boneless wings that came with choice of several delicious dipping sauces and some Cheesesteak eggrolls. The boneless wings were great and the fries very good, crispy and hot (Fresh). The eggrolls were good too, but maybe a tad greasier than others I've had. We would definitely return and frequent if we lived in Doylestown, especially being dog friendly. The inside of the pub looked very cool too and was open air on this day.

I had lunch there last week. My friends think it's the best place for happy hour in Doylestown. My lunch was just ok. Cheese steak. Home made chips were not crisp the roll was tired . My guest had Chicken fingers and fries and the oil tasted old and the food had that old oil color. I really wanted to love this place but it fell way short.

I went with my son and friend for a few beers and food. I saw them deliver the cheesesteak to another table. It looked great. I ordered it and it was great. I was a bit surprised to get a good cheesesteak here but make no mistake it was very good. Service was attentive. Little pricey but I knew that going in. Outside area is an enjoyable experience for relaxing.

Always enjoy their selection of beer and apps. Hospitality is never lacking. Since last review, I've eaten dinners, light fare etc. Always a nice mix and unique specialty on the menu. Sometimes it could be duck or a veal stew and other times it's the fried pickles. Music scene on Sunday evenings is Jazz et al and that cast of characters is top notch. Just had their newly added eggs benedict for a Sunday brunch. Wow that was a treat. Just add Champagne and Chamborg and your set.

Nice little pub with outdoor seating and a diverse beer selection. The food is overall pretty good, but the sandwiches are especially tasty. The service is solid on some days, not so great other days. Overall, it's a nice spot for a lunch in the borough or drinks outside on the patio on a nice day. The one thing I could do with out, though, is the hipster bartender watching MSNBC and Al Gore Current TV. I have no desire to be subjected to someone else's politics when I'm out trying to decompress and get away from the day-to-day grind and BS. That's especially the case when I have Al Sharpton barking malapropisms and mispronunciations at me. He gives renewed meaning to the term "idiot box."

Nice location and outdoor patio dining. Good service. One note to server is don't swipe the appetizer plate off the table when the entrees come out, when there was still 1/3 of the appetizers left that we wanted to finish. Didn't even ask us if we were finished with them.....just swiped them. I was like WAIT! BRING IT BACK! But the server ran off so fast with it. Can I have $3 back for the third I didn't get to finish???? Hope you and the kitchen staff enjoyed them! The food was just okay. Our table ordered burgers. We were asked how we wanted them done. Most said Medium Rare. They all came out well done and dry. Why bother asking us how we wanted them cooked then? The wing appetizer we had had so much sauce poured....i mean poured....over them, it was a real mess to eat. The rest of the meal was just okay, but they could improve a little in their cooking skills and catering to the customers order. This place is better for the drinks, then the food. Don't waste your money. But overall it was a pleasant experience.

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and had a really great experience! It's a super tiny place but cozy with a pretty decent selection of drafts on tap! The service was really friendly- Gina was our bartender that day and she was awesome with suggesting food and just being personable! For food we ordered the fried pickles which were good! Also the calamari which i really liked- they do it a little differently than breading and frying it like everywhere else, i can't remember what she said it was battered in but it was tasty and so was the sauce that came with it! And lastly we split their bacon cheeseburger which was yummy!

I have to admit that this place slipped by me. It's right on "Restaurant Row" in Doylestown but meshed in with 86 West and The Knight House. Glad a friend mentioned it because we had a great time! I was surprised to get immediate seating outside on a Friday night in the middle of happy hour. Nice beer and wine selection. I enjoyed my meal. Had the Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and the Turkey Burger. Service was friendly and timely. I was surprised it was a dog friendly patio, not bad as long as your dog doesn't yap a lot . I continue to be amazed at the many wonderful options to choose from in Doylestown for dinner and drinks. Just added the Taproom to my rotation!

This is a fun spot in summer with an outdoor area and great people watching. Unfortunately the food is really average - we would still go back as it has atmosphere. On the day we visited the staff service was REALLY slow and I think they were short staffed, it started to rain and they quickly assisted us to sit in the bar which was really cozy.

Good beer list but we were stuck with the only unresponsive waitress Tara. Waited 20 minutes to get our first round, couldn't get 2nd round because she disappeared for 30 minutes, despite asking other waitresses to find Tara. Other wait staffs all seemed responsive.

Went yesterday (Saturday) for a party of 5 including 2 toddlers. Food was very good. I had their Taproom burger with onion rings. My daughter had a very large and delicious grilled hotdog. Draft list was ok, Moms is definitely better. However the service was horrible. Waited for close to 5 minutes for a hostess to come to the stand to seat us. Had a younger guy who was our waiter upstairs. He disappeared for long stretches and took a long time to take our order. And did I mention we had 2 toddlers? Plus the table was wobbly and e only offered to fix towards the end of our meal. You can do much better in Doylestown.

Penn Taproom has a fun outside and downstairs atmosphere, but the vibe upstairs (where we got seated) is definitely lacking. They didn't even have any music playing up there and the loud THUD that we heard every time the kitchen door opened downstairs was definitely annoying. However, they have a decent selection of craft beers and above average bar food so it's a-ok with us...we'll just make sure to sit outside or downstairs during our next visit.

Go here frequently with friends and family. I have never been disappointed. On my most recent visit I had the most delicious fruit and nut salad. I choose to have Shrimp added to the salad to make it a main course. It is loaded with fresh fruit and greens with candied walnut. The dressing was a little citrusy, wonderful addition. On other occasions I have had their burger and must say I think it's the best burger in Doylestown. I have also tried many of there other dishes and have always found them to be great. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant a five star rating is because of a small issue I had trying to book a large group for lunch.( about 20 people) It worked its self out and we all had a great time.

Pretty cool, local spot. I came with some friends on a Sat night at the recommendation of one of them living in the area. It is a little small but luckily there is a second floor for seating. This place got busy fast so it was good we had a reservation. I ordered their potato soup and friend calamari (both very good). I also had a glass of Riesling that was nice. Service was good, too. I would definitely come here again but would probably try some other local places first.

The good news is that this place is better than the reviews suggest.I had lunch at the bar and service was quick and pleasant. The beer selection was small but well chosen. They had beers from Avery and Big Daddy on tap.I had a pretty good roast pork sandwich.I'd go back but I did have one complaint, the downstairs has a greasy odor to it and they should consider a better air filtration - exhaust system.

I've never walked out of a terrible restaurant before, but I think it was the right thing to do. The beer list and menu were pedestrian, the service was horrible. After 45 minutes we still didn't have our food (burgers), and two people who had been seated after us were almost done eating. Terrible and boring, but there didn't seem to be a lot of good options in the area.

Amazing Fall day to dine outside and capture that last bit of warmth! We have passed Penn Taproom a few times and have been wanting to try. It looks inviting from the street. Cute outside seating, hostess stand outside, tables almost full, big garage type window opens the bar which over looks the front seating area, and the food looks good from a far. So today was the day for our lunch! Yay! We had a nice table facing the sidewalk...perfect for people watching. Just what we visioned. Waiter came over and took our order. That was the last time we saw him till the very end. Not a big deal, sweet hostess saw we needed drinks and offered to refill...said she was helping the waiter. I had the salmon burger which was a little dry but the side sauce made it all good and tasty! It came with chips...I think they are made in house. Hubby had the steak sandwich...it looked good but he said it had no taste. He was disappointed. The food was plentiful. We both took half our sandwiches home. I have 4 stars because the place is very cute...but we actually never went inside the restaurant! Lol! I thought the waiter was horrible but the Hostess made up for his bad service. I will try it again but Hubby prolly won't. Actually I am rethinking my 4 stars now. Hmmm.

Walking into this place feels like you're walking into someones home. The bar itself isn't that large (seats maybe 16 people?). We first walked in around 11:30 on a Friday to a mixed crowd. Not long after the older folks left (I guess I have a habit of scaring away the older folks...). By midnight the place was still over half-full. Plenty of TVs playing college football and other sports. Music was playing but off in the distance so it wasn't too loud to keep you from having conversations. One bartender couldn't keep up with the bar (I said it was small, not tiny). So they should really have two people serving on weekend nights, but the wait wasn't terrible. Hoegaarden on draft always wins at least one star in my book and at $5, maybe even two.

My fiance and I decided to just take a drive and ended in Doylestown. After walking around for a bit, we found at the Taproom sitting on their patio. The street was quiet and it wasn't too hot in the shade. Most of the tables were full which was a good sign. For being a taproom the beer list was pretty small. My fiance ordered a beer and I got a glass of wine. We ordered the hummas as an appetizer and I ordered the guacamole burger, sans bun and he ordered the club sandwich. Not sure if it was the kitchen's fault like the server had us believe but our courses came out pretty close together. We should have known something was up when it took 20 minutes to get hummas. The food was good but the service could use some tweaking- maybe its because they pull their tips, who knows.

We like this place and eat here often. Beer selection is great and the typical bar grub is pretty good. They try to give the food a bit of a twist now and than...sometimes it is outstanding and sometimes it's okay. Generally it is very good food. The prices are typical for Doylestown and fairly reasonable. It is worth a try. Service can be spotty. Come when it's busy and it may take the food a little while, but what's the hurry. Enjoy the beer.

I can only comment on PTR as far as drinks and atmosphere go, as I've never eaten there. I decided to go into PTR because I was looking for a quick place to get drinks one night before heading out for dinner with family. I sat at the bar, and the staff was very friendly. Since that night, I've been back a few times, each with the same results. Bar staff has been consistantly friendly and attentive each and every time I've been there. I've always sat at the bar, so I can't comment on seating, food, and servers. I will eventually try the food, as it looks great when it comes out. Try PTR.

I love the atmosphere- very cozy. I can not wait for summer and when they open their patio. :-) I have not eaten there - yet, but I am excited. The bar tender is nice and he stays on top of drinks. (Nothing like being thirsty) The only downfall, is that there is not too much seating. You have to get there early.

even though I have only gotten salad both times I have been here I really enjoy the atmosphere. it's a nice place to grab a beer and a really good meal!! it's a little expensive for a broke college student but it's worth it! the salads really are great and the service is quick and good. no complaints!!

Good food and beer selection. The staff is friendly and down to Earth, rarefied air for Doylestown. Nice place for a couple beers outside on a summer night. One additional thing: some staff may compare you to ugly celebrities. Just endure their hurtful comments.

I was walking around Doylestown with my dog and I saw a lot of people eating at Penn Tap Room outside with their dogs so we decided to stop in. The wait staff and the patrons were so friendly. Our waitress even brought out a water bowl for my dog. I had Brooklyn Pumpkin Ale and it was one of the best pumpkin ales I've had! They only have a small menu with about two veggie options, but they were more than willing to accommodate me. I ordered a club sandwich which comes on seven grain bread yumm, with the meat on the side for my dog. The waitress immediately understood my order and it came out perfectly with the meat in a little bowl for my dog. They even make their own homemade chips but I opted for fries because I'm more of a fry person. All sandwiches come with a side of coleslaw and I ate my coleslaw with my fries (a weird thing I like to do) and it is one of the best French fry coleslaw combos I've had in awhile. I highly recommend this place, they are very dog and family friendly and very willing to accommodate.

Nice place all around, but it really shines on a beautiful day when you can enjoy the patio and people-watch. Good salads--- lots of healthy choices. Sometimes there is a special that just knocks your socks off, like a blackened salmon burger that was on the menu during last year's arts festival. Not a huge number of taps, but there's always something new and interesting to try.

Stumbled upon this place after a long afternoon of hiking. My boyfriend and I decided to drive into Doylestown (I've never been) and passed by Penn Taproom after I made us leave a very college-y sports bar a couple streets away. Penn Taproom was exactly what I was looking for - cozy, casual but not too casual, and American menu. Food was very good (i got the burger) and both of us were impressed by the beer selections. There is outdoor seating as well.

We stopped by this place within the first two weeks of it being open and, honestly, it wasn't all that great. The place has the potential to achieve great things because of the location. However, it seems as though they skimped on the overall beer selection (next to nothing local) and the menu is so-so. (Not surprising from brewpubs -- but from a spot that outsources all its beer?) Typical bar-food is what we were greeted with ..... all-in-all it is decent BUT I would walk/drive the extra block down to Mesquito Grille or up to The Other Side.

I really want to like this place, but it has issues. First, we were seated upstairs and there was only 1 waiter for 8-10 full tables! He was hustling, but never even acknowledged us for 20 minutes. He finally came over to take our drink order, which then took another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Then we tried ordering our dinners before he ran away again, but he said he could not take our order right now because "the kitchen was slammed" so we had to wait another 10 minutes before we could order. I've never heard of a restaurant not taking orders because the kitchen was backed up!! They wouldn't even accept an appetizer order to hold us over! We finally got our food, which was good, but the service was so awful that I don't think I'll be back. Also, just to note, the menu is very, very small so don't go with a picky eater. The options were 6 salads, 6 entrees, 8 burgers, and 10 sandwiches. That's it.

Awesome draft beer selection including Spaten bier from Munchen Germany. Also recommend their hot dog!

Great place, people and prices! I walk here a lot to meet friends for dinner and happy hour. Love sitting outside when it's nice and warm out!

Great pub food. Was there on a Sunday night and the Jazz band had incredible vibes.

I highly recommend this place, they are very dog and family friendly and very willing to accommodate.

good bar, good burgers. an easy fun option in downtown doylestown.

Great food. Same owner as Pennsylvania Soup & Seafood. Opening night, so a bit hard to tell, but popular so far. For a tap room, they need a better selection.

Food and service very good for a bar, try cheesesteak egg rolls, burgers also tasty.

Food, beer, atmosphere is great...service is so-so.

That's it.
