Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

I am not sure how this large restaurant is still in business. The place is always empty. Like a previous post, I had my check totaled for an amount higher than the food purchase price, and was met with coolness when I brought it to the waitstaff's attention. The food is all right, but not impressive. It's a lovely piece of property that they have for a wonderful restaurant, but something doesn't come together on this place quite right.

It was very charming and the food was excellent. The only downside was the service.. slow and a little disorganized. Our servers (we had 4???) were all very young and seemed a bit confused. The food made up for it, though. I would eat here again.

I've had some great meals at Pag's (the main restaurant has the best food of the 3 - wine bar, pizza cafe and restaurant.). We shared a delightful Mozzarella di Buffula (the REAL McCOy - and priced to match) with red ripe summer tomatoes. The garden area outside is a great summer night's treat. In winter - try the (a bit heavy) house made pastas. Tagliatelle was perfectly al dente hear and served in asugo di burro (Butter sauce - I think I spelled that wrong - sorry.). Fresh shaved parmesan over the top. Yes, the prices are steep - and a bit "too -too" for people like my parents - we prefere Luberto's which is more "homey" and alot cheaper - but for a romantic date or a birthday celebration? In D-town I love Pag's. Oh - and I came here with my daughter when she was just under 2 years old and they treated her really well - spaghetti and everything.

Love this place! Quiet and spacious. Though the menu may seem limited because they have certain availabilites during specific days, the food does not disappoint. It's made for someone who has a palate for distinct flavors and fresh dishes. It's good for groups or a small date. The only down side is the portions are on the small side, but it allows you to try different things. We were also kind of confused because we had a waitress, a runner, and a bread server. When the bread server started bringing drinks instead of bread, that's the point where we just utterly confused. But it was pretty comical. If you're ever in Doylestown, definitely try this restaurant.

The owner use to be the chef, and a recent visit says he is still the chef. The pasta dishes are delicious. But, not much has changed in the last 10yrs or since they opened here. They do not get the business anymore from what I can tell and from other reviews, the service is still seemingly untrained staff. The bread is still the reheated frozen type, not complimentary to great pasta, and the wines are priced too high. But, still a good place to eat great pasta at a reasonable price. The pasta with clams is the best I ever had, even though they are canned clams. Note the day you go here, because certain dishes are only available on those days. Perhaps not a good idea, and why they would not change up, is a bit strange and not customer oriented.

We ate there for the first time last night. We were impressed. The menu is limited but the food was very good. As an appetizer we shared the portobello sauteed in garlic with roasted red peppers and fresh mozzerella. They make their own pasta so we tried a pasta special which was sort of a primavera with chunks of mozzeralla, eggplant and zuchini. I also had the eggplant parm which is baked to order and not fried. It was outstanding. The service was also very good as was the decor. We would go back on our next trip to the area.

Went on a double date here last night with a coworker and her boyfriend and wanted to go somewhere nice and new for everyone. We dined outside and enjoyed the atmosphere and our pasta. Our server was patient as we took some time to peruse the menu. Also the bat managed to pull off a solid greyhound for my coworker even though they weren't familiar with it. When my coworkers boyfriend wanted a side of pasta with his veal, they were more than willing to provide any combination of sauce and pasta available. On the other hand our aged parmesan cheese appetizer which was small, unspectacular and in need of a starch vessel. Also our bread didn't arrive until we had finished our appetizer. In addition, after our main courses arrived the waiter disappeared for the rest of the evening. All in all I would come back again and give Paganini another try. It was a solid dining experience and we all enjoyed ourselves. However with such a limited menu for an Italian restaurant we'll have to be in a particular mood when the time comes.

I had the opportunity to meet friends in Doylestown and made reservations for the four of us last weekend at Paganini Ristorante. Both my friend and boyfriend come from Italian families and I thought they would appreciate an authentic Italian meal in such a seemingly charming place. The short story is this: It is a great location with a beautiful outdoor area and the food that we ordered was good. However, our entire experience was basically ruined by the very long wait for food, and the fact that even though we ordered drinks and appetizers and were very patient with the service, we were asked to leave IMMEDIATELY after we signed off on the bill so that the restaurant could give our table to "other guests". Nevermind that there were empty tables, both inside and out when we left, or that a "Reserved" sign had been pulled from a 4-table configuration beside us, OR that there were absolutely no groups waiting at the door to be seated. The waitress apologized and said that she didn't know how to ask us to leave, but Saturday was busy and they needed our table. So, whoever made the decision to give us the boot apparently doesn't need to worry about repeat business because none of us will ever come back.

I keep seeing complaints that service is slow. I disagree. This place serves house made pasta cooked to order. I'm willing to wait for fresher food. First time here, we shared a plate of Spaghetti Bolognese - plenty for two and delicious. Somehow each bite was more tasty than the last with just a touch of heat. Ambiance is nice. Wait staff is friendly though I can see why some think they could be a little more attentive. Go here for a no-rush meal. Eat slowly and enjoy.

The food is just OK and the service is slow. The management is so arrogant about their menu that they rarely accommodate any changes. We were not made to feel comfortable by the wait staff. No reason to return.
(2)David T.
I was in Bucks in June and sat with a friend outside at this place, which looks great on paper: homemade pasta, nice outdoor seating, lots of daily specials, and a liquor license. Unfortunately, looks are deceiving. The inattentive and forgetful service needs serious help here. It's not all on them, though--these folks need a decent training or manager because it's clear that they're pretty clueless and there isn't an organizing presence behind them. The food, I suppose for the area--is fine, but really a mixed bag. I'm on the other side of the country, but I recognize the burbs and what passes for acceptable there. For the prices they charge and as long as they've been around, one would expect a better experience (but you don't have a lot of options in this town if you're used to good (quality) food at reasonable rates).
(3)Jack G.
While the pasta was delicious the tables were too small, crowded together, poor service, and why in the world would an Italian restaurant serve a caprese salad in August with waxy cold store bought tomatoes????? Dang!
(1)Brian C.
Well, after reading the previous reviews of Pag's, where do I begin? I suppose I can start with our intentions...and our intentions were to eat at 86 West across the street but they were a 40 minute wait on New Year's Eve Eve. Stopped next door to the Knight House and that was a 20 minute wait, so we ventured across the street to Pag's and they sat us right away. Was this a testament to their reputation or luck, the night would quickly prove that it was in our favor/fate that we ended up here. Party of four, we were sat downstairs in the glass room patio area. Nice and cozy and greeted by our very pleasant waitress. She was attentive and knowledgeable and took great care of us. Yes, we had a bit of a wait for our entrees, but she did inform us they had a party of 50 upstairs and only three cooks in the kitchen, so at least there was open communication about the wait and that always helps rather than leaving one in the dark. Food was great! From the spicy crab soup (which was tomato based) the potato and leek soup, caprese salads to our entrees, all was piping hot, full of flavor and presented well. The clean line between my pasta and the white plate was quite exceptional. Someone takes care of their presentations in the kitchen despite cooking for 50, bravo! My only small gripe of the evening was the fellow serving bread. I don't believe he took good care to rid himself of the odor of the cigarette he had during his shift and it was quite pungent when he came round for a second helping of bread. One should never deter the patron of an appetite. Friends have raved about this place, the homemade pasta was great and others have raved about the layout and I agree with them all. We will be back, I definitely want to try the outdoor garden area in warm weather.

We eat here regularly and are almost always super pleased. Pasta cooked perfectly and many kinds to choose from. Ssuces always freshly seasoned and balanced. I especially love bolognese sauce and seafood. If ever anything is not as expected the servers are quick to respond. Very friendly and professional.

Went for dinner after a movie at the County Theatre. Decided on Paganini by chance simply because everywhere else on the block was loud and crowded due to an A-Day pub crawl. The restaurant was busy but the wait wasn't long. We were seated at a small table where we could watch the pizza maker prepare the daily selection of made to order pizza. The menu had plenty to offer but not so much to be overwhelming. The waiter's recital of the long list of daily specials was impressive. We were able to hear him recite it to the table next to us and didn't make him repeat. We were catered to by 3 different servers who refreshed our drinks and fresh baked bread repeatedly. One energetic server had a song and goofy noises for everything he brought to the table. I'll admit it was corny BUT entertaining. We enjoyed the humor he brought to the experience. Amy hasn't enjoyed or finished a meal at the last few restaurants we've visited. She ordered the pasta special with capers and rants. She loved the dish and finished it along with a second round of bread to soak up the delicious and very light sauce. I had the pizza white pie with zucchini. It was also delicious. I also had the potato leek soup and loved it. Everything was fresh. I was disappointed that my first choice of eggplant parm would have been a 30 minute wait ONLY because I was hungry. I did appreciate that the wait meant that it was prepared fresh to order and will go back and try it. The price was reasonable with entrees in the $15 range. All things said it was a great meal and experience. We will go back.

Went there Saturday night 9/05. Food was good. Service was terrible. Wait staff very inattentive. With all the choices in Doylestown, you should probably pass on this.
(2)Allison K.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, extremely slow and inattentive service. All that and there were only four other tables filled for lunch on a weekday; I cannot imagine how backed up it must be for dinner or on a weekend. Currently sitting here waiting 20 minutes for the check after asking twice. So, My time is being filled with a Yelp review and crossed fingers so as not to be rained on. Will definitely not come back, even though the food was delicious.
(2)Brigit P.
So so yummy Italian food! They are always bringing bread to the table and they have many waiters around asking if you need anything. We've been there a bunch of times now and it's always lovely to sit outside and watch people and pups walking by. Great location and delicious Italian food!! We will be back with our dogs to sit outside again this summer :)
(5)Peter K.
The outdoor seating at Paganini is a perfect setting for a breezy summer evening. That being said, the service was slow and my spicy pasta was decent, but not great. The portions were generous, though. I feel like Paganini could be really great on a different night, so I may try it again (especially because the outdoor seating is so nice). But, I still wasn't totally happy with my dining experience there.

Dinner for six at seven pm with out a reservation. We met another couple with a child there and the hostess was rude to each family independently, found out when we compared stories at the table. Hostess scoffed at the idea she would have a six top, when I suggested two three tops close to each other she look startled, like this was a novel idea. Finally she hit on the idea of pushing three two tops together to accommodate us. When I looked inquisitively at her, she snapped at me. I felt like I was inconveniencing the hostess. THE HOSTESS. Its a shame that our first impression was with this rude woman. Dinner was very good, the food was tasty, well prepared and well seasoned. My son had buttered pasta which was over cooked. Its pricey too. service was slow and we had to ask for things like our bottle of wine(!?) enough wine glasses for each person drinking wine,(?!) more water (over and over and over again) more bread. My entree was the last to come out, and my dinner companions had to sit with food getting cold in front of them for a solid five minutes. Our waitress did say she was new, so maybe more training needed? we had fun with our friends and the atmosphere is very nice. We will give it one more shot, hope someone teaches the hostess how to HOST :)
(3)Gary L.
Slow service, food was good but portions were very small. Their definition of a sandwich was a slice of prosciutto on 1 slice of bread with some oil and sauce. Whack.... Food - Pretty presentation that also tasted good. Problem, it didn't fill me up. Among 4 adults and one child, bill came out to 100 something bucks so in a way, it was a bit overpriced. I get the whole artsy thing about this town but come on, whether if you're an artist or not, we need a real meal with our drinks. Service - Friendly but slow. Verdict - I don't hate i but nor did I loved it. I enjoyed the outdoor seating, the interior decor, and this town but the food needs to double in portion for the price they charge.
(3)Maria B.
Well I chose this place off of the reviews and lesson learned don't go by that. Only good thing was the pasta dishes because they were homemade. Other than that food and service was awful.
(2)Victoria Z.
Eh, I could take it or leave it. Service was OK (not slow), food was OK. It was just OK. I looooved the patio though and it was very dog friendly. So maybe I could add another star on behalf of my baby-er-I mean dog.
(2)Marie S.
Service was good, but weren't attentive to empty water glasses. I'm learning to never order anything that has supposed crab in it. Our soup was basically tomato ragu with potato's to stand in for substance. Not worth it. It was a "special". Dinner? Meh. My salmon entree was okay, but the salmon was 1" by 3". Had a little veg by the side. For the price? No dice. Nope.
(3)Scott S.
First time ever in Doylestown and great first time place to eat. The four of us had not made reservations but was lucky to get seating outside. Really nice canopy cover of ivy. Prompt service and full menu. Drinks ordered and appetizer. I did order the eggplant parm and was told 30min delay. Overall timing was not an issue. Only compliant for the dollars, the portions were very small. Would go back
(4)ALEKSANDRA T.
Living close I go there from time to time as I really find their EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA delicious.Since I'm not a fan of pasta it is actually the best dish for me. Easter Sat. 2013 brought me a surprise though - the waiter, (Indian guy but easy to understand) tried to talk me out of it saying it would take long to prepare! Since I was with 5 other people I risked ostracizing but inisted...To my surprise it came - as always- after not-so-long and together with other dishes! That incident soured my dish a bit...
(3)Damon T.
Horrible experience a few years ago at the restaurant. We were told the chef quit in the middle of dinner. Not sure about that. Even wrote letter to owner and never a reply!? Went to wine bar this past weekend and an equally bad experience. Poor service, over priced menu and drinks. Stick a fork in Paganni's Ristorante!
(1)Dave R.
Had a lovely meal at Pags. Sat outside, service was attentive but not overbearing. Not sophisticated, but pleasant. Food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Give it a try.
(4)Michael S.
Ratings---- Company 10, atmosphere 9, bread 8, wine 7, pizza app 6, salad 5, pesto pasta 4, meat pasta 3, service 2, chance of returning 1.
(2)Amy B.
I ate in the garden of this restaurant with family over the summer. It is a pretty garden, I think they should get nicer chairs. We had a personal, thin crust pizza, it was yummy. I had dessert too, also quite good. Our server was very friendly, the service was a little slow but it was crowded with few servers. I think they could expand their menu a bit. I enjoyed my meal, I would go back.
(4)Jessica S.
We had dinner last night at 5pm. The food was delicious! We started with the fresh buffalo mozzarella salad. It was so creamy and fresh. It was great with the fresh, hot bread. For dinner, I had the special with chicken and fusilli. It was great! I am normally a chocoholic, but I tried the lemon tart. It was so good that I would've liked a second one if I wasn't so stuffed. The service was great - very attentive and helpful. I can't wait to go back again!
(5)Ardith T.
This is one of my favorite restaurants for excellent pasta dishes, wonderful wines, and killer Tiramisu. The bread is fine too, but I don't pick a restaurant based on how much bread they serve; however, the servers check frequently on your bread needs. The standard choices vary by days of the week which is neat, plus 2 or 3 daily specials; try the specials. Have been coming here for 20 years and love it! Gonna try Pag's pub next time; it's very popular!
(4)Ray V.
The food is good but not great rates 3 stars. We've been there a dozen times and had bad service and long waits more often than not. We went there after the cycling races and waited almost an hour for our food. The hostess admitted that our waiter forgot to place our order on the kitchen! They then presented us with the wrong food! This was the last straw. 1 star for service. We will probably only do take out in the future. Went back recently and had a much better experience so I upgraded to a 3 star.
(3)Mike H.
Papperdelle Mediterraneo was very good. Bread was great, wine list was lacking. ALl the pastas that we had were very good.
(3)Nick V.
Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. I ordered lemon drop martini. As soon as I saw them brining it to the table I instantly knew that it could be anything except for what I ordered. I tried it and it not only tasted wrong for lemon drop martini, but was also incredibly bad. It had artificial flavor taste. Thats something you could possibly expect at a local bowling alley, but not an "italian" restraunt. I told the waitress that it was wrong and asked to exchange for anything else. She took it and brought it back a few minutes later. She said the bartender said that this is exactly how it is supposed to be made. It contains sprite and liquer. Real lemon drop martini is made with LEMON juicy and not artificially flavored sprite. She also said that they can take the drink away, but I will still need to pay for it! I only had a little sip. It was full. The management is incredibly rude and ingorant to its customers. This drink cost them probably about $1.00 to make, but they lost 2 customers. It wasnt very smart either. Obviously we didnt order entries and simply asked for a check. The food that we did order was 2 appetizers, which were way worse than average. We went to the restraunt right across the street and had MUCH better experience. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS PLACE.
(1)Marty W.
As usual, friendly service and delicious food. Ordered fusilli pasta with grilled chicken for lunch and it was scrumptious. Also tasted the grilled chicken salad. We'll be back soon.

We arrived, a family of 7 with mostly teens, starving; ready for a good italian meal. We didn't know the area and this restaurant was the only one that could seat us immediately for dinner. First disappointment was that the bread was served to us one slice at a time. We asked the waitress for a basket of bread, but she responded that management policy would not allow her to do that. The bread was of fair quality - nothing special. The second disappointment was the size of the servings for the lasagna and the eggplant. We are slim and trim people, but when hungry, expect that a lasagna will be well portioned. Instead, my son was served 4 stacked squares of pasta with meat sauce over it. I inquired to the waiter about the cheese that is typically in between the layers, and he responded that Paganini's style was to "blend the cheese in with the sauce". That cheese was difficult to find. The eggplant was of an equally small portion - bordering on ridiculous for the price. I've never seen eggplant parmesean that minuscule. The pasta dishes were more plentiful and they were tasty. For beverages, we had water, but my husband ordered a diet Coke - at a hefty price of $3.90. They refilled freely, but we come from an urban area, and have never paid that much for a Coke. The final straw was a 20% gratuity that was included in the bill. Perhaps because we were 9 people the gratuity was included, but 18% is more typical. Portions and prices are all relative, but in general, coming from an east coast urban area, we found this restaurant to be very pricey and not particularly delicious. Staff was cordial.
(1)Dave H.
The menu's Italian needless to say. Sadly they offer different items on the menu each day of the week. Example: Monday has only five entrees available on the menu to order, Tuesday has a different five, etc. Yet the menu shows all the days instead of just the day you're visiting... teasing you with the possibilities. I wasn't particularly enamored with the choices for Sunday. Restaurant decor on their virtual "deck" is nice. Bread was delectable and baked in-house if I recall correctly. All I remember is having multiple servings with oil. Ordered cheese and tomatoes and veal with pasta - yum! Tiramisu wasn't as good as it looked I was told. Service was O.K. (as an aside, the waitress had the bluest eyes I've ever seen!) but a little slow. Entree prices were between $9-$14 (meat dishes more expensive) with less expensive appetizers. Worth a visit? If you're into Italian food, preview the menu ahead of time, and make your own decision. Great decor, I suggest having large parties (20-30 people?) upstairs.
(3)Amanda D.
My review may be biased since I'm Italian and I make my own pasta... but I heard a lot of good things about Paganini's and I was not impressed. They only serve certain pastas on certain nights - so the menu is divided up by days of the week. I have never seen a menu like this and was confused when I looked at it. I ordered a pasta that was for that particular night. The pasta was really thick and was in this vodka sauce that tasted like something out of a can. It didn't taste fresh at all.. My husband got some other pasta that had chicken in it and more of a tomato sauce and his was better than mine but still not that great. To make matters worse, the wine menu is horrible and overpriced. We wished that we would have brought our own and paid the $30 corking fee. Needless to say we would not go back here. I'd choose Damani Star any night of the week - it's right next door and a BYO. You save money and the food is out of this world.
(2)Brian B.
We are neighbors and have been visiting Pag's and Pag's Wine Bar for a period of time elapsing 20 years. We are fans and have always enjoyed a slice of Europe right here in our home town. Thank you Ralph and Mahmood for many years of pleasant evenings.
(4)Charlene T.
I have been coming to Pags since the day they opened. The food is consistently terrific. The ingredients are always so fresh and delightful. I read some of the bad reviews and I have to believe they were eating somewhere else. The atmosphere here can't be beat. The owners work harder than anyone. The espresso is perfection. I can't imagine a better place to eat in Doylestown. Crostini....perfect appetizer. I love them for the bread, olives, bottled water, great red wines. Also, I'm so happy to pay the $10 corking fee. Thank you for a delicious lunch the other day and for the lemoncella!
(5)Zach Z.
Just a bad experience overall. The service was very slow and unattentive; it took 1.5 hours to get our food. The mixed drinks were small and expensive. We couldn't get salt and pepper shakers for the table because they didn't have enough. I had the Frutti de Mare and it had 3 musses and 1 shrimp in it, of which one of the mussles was not open...very sad representation of that dish. We found the restaurant owner and told her about our experience. She didn't say one word in response and just walked away. This is obviously an establishment that doesn't case about their customers.
(1)Glenn P.
The management is rude and doesn't care. Had been a regular for some time. On my most recent visit, the ditzy waitress had incorrectly summed up my check and effectively over charged me by about $10. This was the icing on the cake for a dinner where entrees were forgotten, service was slow and when they finally arrived, they were wrong. When I attempted to have this corrected, the "manager" informed the that they had not put all items on the check and the new total would be another $25. Not being cheap, but I would think there would have been some accommodation for a regular. Nope, none, I won't ever go back. There are better choices within walking distance,
(1)Heather W.
Great Food, great service, nice atmosphere...one of our favorite spot to dine with friends and family in Doylestown Borough!
(4)Jamie M.
I would say Paganini is a nice place to dine at. The atmosphere is warm and romantic somehow. It might be awkward as the stairs, but who cares, it makes the place looks elegant. About the food, i don't find any problem with the daily varieties food on the menu. It's not gonna be special if everyday has the same pasta. People can find it is an interesting thing to come visit different day in a week to try new thing. I can tell the ingredients are excellent as it goes very well with the food, especially the parmesan cheese and olive oil. The bread is freshly baked and served. I see some reviews complained about the long service. Some people should understand that freshly made food need time to cook unless you want your food come out from the microwave. It takes me hours to prepare the food at home, so be patient, people. One bad experience doesn't need to become the reason to jump in conclusion n judge the whole restaurant business. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves hot food.
(5)Johanna V.
if you want to be tortured, go here. they have no respect for customers and an over inflated sense of their food.
