Good soft, fresh bagels and cream cheese. Quick service and good selection of bagels. We've came here everytime we visit Doylestown and are alway looking forward to eating here.

Limited choices for bagels in Doylestown so you are essentially stuck with this place or crappy "Manhattan" bagel. While the kids that work here are all courteous, the a$$hole adults are just a lot of rude sh1ts. They act like they are disappointed in themselves for having to work the counter on a Sunday morning. I know that the less-than-courteous ones that work here aren't the owners, I don't like negative comments on a small business but they need to have an attitude discussion with the employees. Bagels are bagels, nothing fantastic here.

Bagel Barrel has been getting better and better if that is possible. Not only are they continuing to add and rotate new flavors of bagels and cream cheese, they have added locally roasted coffee from Homestead, and added an extra large coffee cup. Service remains fantastic, as these folks are committed to the community and making people happy. Doylestown does not have a business that is a better neighbor and servant of its citizens.

I stayed with a family in Doylestown who swears by Bagel Barrel. They had a lot of family staying with them over the weekend and bought bagels for the mornings. The first day the bagels were bought they didn't even need to be toasted becuase they were so fresh. Over the course of the days, I tried the everything and seasame bagels and thought they were both great. I wish I could find a place in San Diego that make such great bagels!

The aroma from Bagel Barrel wafts down the street and meets my nose a half block before you my in the door. Upon entering the door and getting in line I am reminded of the great bagel shops I grew up with on Long Island: no frills, lots of customers, baskets full of wonderful smelling bagels and a half dozen or so people scurrying behind the counter to fill orders. The bagels are made the right way and are reminiscent of the ones I used to enjoy in the New York area. I have had the spinach and the pumpernickel. The pumpernickel is great. The spinach is good but I would like more spinach or garlic flavor or something in there.

Best bagels in Bucks Co. and probably the only fresh "NY-style" bagels around...Hot and crusty. They also know how to handle a crowd, which there is every weekend. Tasty cream cheese and they dont charge an arm and a leg. Come here whenever I can with the kids. Good coffee too.

I stopped here last week for a quick breakfast while in town. I always make sure to eat bagels while on the East Coast. The everything bagel was good, nice texture and flavor. I got it with plain cream cheese. However, the coffee was just OK. I used their half and half dispenser and it seemed to have some sort of hazelnut flavoring in it. I didn't try it until we had already left and I just threw it away. Luckily there's a Starbucks down the street. If you're going to come here, I would recommend getting your coffee elsewhere. But the bagels are good.

I'm not a bagel store manager or owner but there are a couple of fundamental things I know... Have plenty of plain bagels to sell... No matter the time of day. You are a bagel store. How do you continue to run out of your basic product? It's pathetic and it is a usual occurrence. Whether its a muffin or bagel, have enough on hand to sell! If you extra inventory, give them to a food bank or shelter! It's good karma, good community service and good business. You won't tick customers off because you will have product to sell them and ring up extra sales! Unless... You want them to bad mouth you all over town and write negative reviews like this one, then keep up with your weak product management. Btw, your prices are astronomical but I'm willing to pay... Just have the product ready to sell ...consistently!

This is a great bagel shop! My favorites are the chocolate croissant, garlic bagel toasted with butter and the blueberry bagels. Everything is made on the premises, so of course all the bagels, croissants and muffins are delicious!!! They have a great selection of Snapple and juices. Be prepared for a line on the weekends and special days in town. Yummy!

Pretty much what you would expect. Good bagels, average service. If you are hankering for a bagel in Doylestown Borough, this is the place to go.

Bagel Barrel is right near the heart of the town and the inside is a cozy place. The workers were somewhat pleasant. I got a sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese. The bagel tastes a lot like manhattan bagel, so I was satisfied. The service was a little slow, but that's understandable because the place was pretty busy. Bagel Barrel is a good place to stop by if you are looking for a little bite to eat.

First time we went there it was busy and not very friendly, but the bagels were very good and the coffee not bad. So we tried it again and they were once again busy and unfriendly unless you were a regular. This time our order was processed completely wrong and unfortunately since it took a long time to not get our food toasted and made correctly we could not have everything remade. Not a single item in our order was correct and the coffee did not taste like what it was labeled. If you have the time to go some place else go there, most people get their bagel and coffee with friendlier service and more accuracy just about anywhere else.

Rude rude rude. It's amazing how they let themselves down by being so darn rude to their customers. Won't bother again.

Really delicious and always dependable

Been here a few times hoping they can redeem themselves but continue to disappoint.. Might serve the worst breakfast sandwich I've ever experienced. They cooked the entire contents of the sandwich in a microwave (eggs, bacon, cheese). The eggs were green, brown and hard around the edges. I had some of my girlfriends porkroll, egg, and cheese and wasn't sure what I was eating. I felt sick for an entire day and it's safe to say that will be my last experience at the Bagel Barrel.

The bagels are very good and fresh. The quality is there and it keeps us going back. A recent bad experience influenced me to write this review. After Hurricane Sandy, the power was out at this location for a couple of days. For some reason, days later, they are still unable to make their own bagels. This is understandable and does not affect my review What really turned me off is that the people working here are unfriendly - not rude, just sour faced and not happy. The kind of not happy that tells you "go away". No only are they unhappy to see you, but they have signs up stating things like, "The answer to your question is I DON'T KNOW". That's rude. So, I'm not supposed to ask you any questions? How about this question, "How long do you expect to stay in business with that attitude?" If you don't mind being treated like this, then by all means, go. Otherwise, vote with your dollars and your feet and go elsewhere.

Don't thinks its fair I have to give this staff 1 star, yes they are that rude. After reading how much all the other posters say the food sucks, maybe it's better that I just left.

So I went there today and the COOK THEIR EGGS IN THE MICROWAVE!? nicee sounds delicious. -I asked my them to toast and butter a muffin and they said they CANT, because they have a rotating toaster and it wont fit. -and the bagels are just so small....almost as small as Manhatten bagel's.
(2)Matty H.
Went in here today for the first time after hearing mixed reviews so I wanted to give it a try and see for myself. I walked in and immediately felt awkward and out of place due to the worker's being miserable and unhappy. Look if you don't like your job do something about it and don't take it out on the customers. That's a quick way for a food place to go out of business.
(2)Matthew W.
Bagels are always fresh, cream cheeses are awesome, place is great.
(5)Tom A.
BAGELS HIT OR MISS. I've had a number of bagels here and found the texture and quality to be highly variable. The everything and sesame were soft and lack a good chewy crust. The pumpernickel however was spot on. The cream cheese quality is good and the lox bagel is a decent price. Busy.
(3)Laura W.
OK Bagel...not a huge fan of bagels or cream cheese.....don't understand how a bagel shop can run out of plain bagels?????
(2)Sarah L.
A staple in Doylestown. Wonderful, chewy bagels make for excellent breakfast sandwiches.
(4)Karen F.
It OK. A welcome D-town neighborhood edition - and on Spring and Summer weekend mornings, the joint is jumpin'! They offer bagels in a variety of flavors and a selection of cream cheeses and spreads. Your basic bagel type fare. Good - but not mind-blowing.
(3)Kim B.
cute place, very good fresh and big bagels
(5)Kristen C.
Good bagels and cream cheese. Staff was friendly. Only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because I wish they had more tables.

The Bagel Barrel has been a regular haunt for me for 15 years. I hear tales about the water in NYC making the best bagels, I don't know if thats true of not but if it is, they import it to Doylestown in "barrels". If you are not a regular be ready to be greeted by the sometimes surly owner who can make the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld look downright charitable. If he says "good morning" to you you better say it back and God help you if you get in the wrong line to order or if you happen to be on your cell phone when its your turn to order! But the bagels are terrific and the variety of cream cheese is also extensive. If you want a treat try the everything bagel with XXX cream cheese (horseradish and some other treats that make it a real zinger. Just make sure you follow the rules. When you head in tell Pat the owner that you know the "Mayor"

I really like this place when I'm in Doylestown, it has a great feel and great bagels. The only downside is that ordering is a bit like pats steaks in the sense that they would serve you if your on your cell phone which I find funny every time I see someone get reamed for doing it. Aside from that it's great and really quick.

I love bagels and I'm disapointed by a lot of bagels, but this place does not disapoint. They even have pumpernickle bagels, which I love. They also make a lot of homemade speads and cream cheses. I loved the everything bagel, you get the nice saltyness, the garlic flavor and the seasame and poppy seeds all in one bagel..yumm! If you are in the doylestown area for breakfast try these bagels.

I love good food and bagels are one of those not so good of you foods that can be horribly botched. Bagels from the supermarket bakery can not compare to these delicious treats! I've been striving for a few months now to find a bagel that is a little tough and chewy on the outside and oh so soft and yummy on the inside. The closest I've come is baking my own bagels and Bagel Barrel. Their everything bagel is divine. Satly, yet you can taste the garlic and onion with a slight visit of poppy seeds. Of course I went old school and had butter put on it for a light late breakfast. The placement of the beverage coolers was a little odd and they could have gotten a few more dollars out of me if I had seen them when I walked in the door. The person that attended to me was pleasant and helpful. I'm sure I'll be back to Bagel Barrel very soon! The only inconvience is that it's located on a one-way street.

I finally found a great bagel place and the bagel barrel is it. Years ago I used to get my bagels from Brooklyn bagels in Philadelphia on Bustleton ave. When they closed up it was difficult to find a place that makes bagels that good. I live in New Jersey and the only places I found to come close is in Manhattan, which I go up to once a month for a bagel run. Now I found the Bagel barrel and I'm hooked. The bagels are soft and dense, the way good bagels should be. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I've been fortunate enough to live within walking distance of the Bagel Barrel for the past 6 years, and their bagels are hard to beat locally. I'm surprised by the reviews that call the staff less-than-friendly. I've always found them to be pleasant. I miss their cranberry walnut bagel, which they discontinued a few years ago. I will also say that their breakfast sandwiches leave a lot to be desired. The eggs are terrible. I wish they'd improve that, and then I'd be in there for breakfast even more often. As it is, it's hard to beat a fresh-from-the-oven bagel with one of their fantastic cream cheese spreads! I absolutely recommend a stop at the Bagel Barrel. My sister drives 25 minutes to buy her bagels here every week.
