Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

What a strip mall gem this place is! Get the Old World Pizza if you are looking for a memorable food experience. I work in a pizza shop myself, and still crave Bacco's Old World Pizza with sausage, onions, and mushrooms at least once a week. You have to order a pie in order to have the "old world" dough, so go hungry or bring a friend, but it is amazing!!!!

Pizza was burnt.. I understand that sometimes it happens with wood burning, but it was not edible... Staff could care less when I complained... Plenty of other places around the area...

Never had a bad meal at Bacco until tonight! Ordered the seafood fra diavolo and when it arrived I needed a magnifying glass to find the clams & mussels in the shells! Also the scallops were super tiny and had a metallic taste. Not sure what happened to the quality of their seafood but it was well below par tonight! Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow as well which was unacceptable especially for the midweek. I won't rush back there anytime soon. Bad experience!

You know why this place is my new favorite restaurant? The people. Remember those things? The people here make the food. It is fresh and reasonably priced. Hint: that's what you call an understatement. You can buy a quarter of a margarita pizza for three dollars. THREE DOLLARS. If you sit there while eating, your waiting straight from Italy will bring you freshly baked garlic/Parmesan bread. I wouldn't be surprised if the bread was straight from Italy too. The people are also friendly and attentive. They're real and down to earth. Smile at them and say hi. It's okay. Really.

This place is just ok. After sitting down, the server took our drink order, brought our drinks, then told us he'd be right back. Well 10 minutes went by and still didn't place our order! There were many servers running back and forth, but I think our server forgot we were there. That's the only downside. Food is ok. I get take out from there now. Okay occasionally though. I like their pizzas and their best and walnut salad.

So - Bocco is no long on our rotation - Food is till good - I guess, but I cannot patronize an establishment with rude servers (managers). It's been 8 weeks since my wife or I have been in Bocco. Amir - maybe one of the more rude individuals I have encountered in some time drove us away. Ahhhhhhh Sorry Bocco - you can find us at Giovanni's.g

Bacco's has become our go-to place for catering parties. We have used them four times in the last 3 months alone. The pasta with drunken sauce is ridiculously delicious, all the chicken dishes are insane and the meatballs...oh those delicious meatballs. Every guest has complimented the food, never a bad taste. The staff is excellent, service is top notch and prices are reasonable.

We are out of towners here for a week. Stumbled in tired a few days ago. Amazing food amazing service. Since we have ordered take out and returned again. The drunken brooklyn, sweet and spicey wings and napoleon caprese salad are so so good. We will talk about this place for a long time.

LOVE, love, love these guys. Been going for almost a year now. They do offer a veteran's discount, which tells a lot about the owners. That's beside the fact. The food is incredible!! Awesome long hots to start!! The pizza is great.. My favorite is the Buff. Chix or Drunken Brooklyn(they use vodka cream, instead of marinara) Also, they give you these little bread tings with olive oil, they are to die for... My favorite: Yo Vinny sandwich(Pulled pork with broccoli rabe)... When the pork is wet and the bread is dripping, there is no better... On daring days, I order the long hots on my Yo Vinny!! Everyone I know loves this place!!! We get take-out... if you are eating in, go early. There is always a long line!!
(5)Judy S.
I have never been to this restaurant without having to wait at. LEAST 45 minutes for a table. They will only take reservations 6 or more. So if you are less than 6 be prepared for a LONG wait. We won't be going there again. Too any places as good or better to wait this long.

Just a quick update to the loyalty program I mentioned in my review;I am currently at Bacco Bistro and confirmed the following with the hostess. One has to collect seven (not eight) of the pizza slice magnets to get the free pizza which is medium cheese. There is also an option to get $11.25 credit if do not feel like having said medium cheese pizza.
(5)Peter G.
At first, the service was a little off, but I think it was due to the rush of people within the same 10 minute window. Once 1/2 the restaurant emptied out, we had a great experience. The pizza and all other italian dishes were excellent.
(5)John S.
Pizza is top notch, dining in can be a bit choatic and unpleasant due to the crowd and the noise. The Brooklyn and Drunken Brooklyn I'd put up against any pizza if you like sweet tomato. Sausage sandwich is also very good.
(5)Jared D.
F, F, F I can't begin to describe the lack of cultural capital and training that this restaurant passes off as normalacy. The servers and staff have no concept of time for either take in or pick up orders. My waiter (when dining in) had a glazed look about him and messed up 60% of our order. When picking up an order that wasn't even started 15 minutes after the allocated pick up time, the Manager could not have handled the situation worse. Would not go back, would not recommend.
(1)Kelly H.
Never a bad meal! I agree the service can be slow at times and weekends can be mobbed, but plan accordingly because the food is worth the wait. The fried calamari is the best around and the pizza is always fresh and hot. I can't comment on dessert because I've never had room for it!
(5)Amy H.
Brooklyn pizza is great. This is my fave pizza in dtown. Thin crust. Sweet sauce. Fresh basil.

I diligently read through the reviews for Bacco and made the decision to have dinner here based upon the mostly high remarks and comments. Seated just before 6 on a Saturday night and within 10 minutes the "waiting area" looked like a tour bus just pulled in. There were people standing in the main walkway, close enough to feel like they were hovering above you watching you eat your meal. I'm not a mannequin, I am not eating my meal to be on display, I don't need your eyes on me. It seemed strange that there is a lack of a formal reception or seating area for diners to wait for a table, so they just stand there like corralled cattle waiting for feed. I read a lot of complaints about service being too slow, but nothing about service being too fast. My daughter's dinner arrived just after the appetizer and the server said "the kitchen likes to get the kid's meal out quickly." I could possibly understand that if my daughter was under 3 and they could see that she was growing impatient, but at 11, she has the ability to wait for her food to be served. I didn't request her meal to come out first, they took it upon themselves without asking. I could go off on a tangent here about parents not teaching their children about proper dining etiquette, or state that my daughter knows that you wait for everyone at the table to receive their food before you begin eating your meal, but I'll save that. Dinners were consumed without further incident, but as I was taking my last forkful, the server came to the table asked if anything else was needed and left the check. Never came by first to ask about coffee or dessert, again, just assumed. Never assume, I thought that was a pretty basic rule in life, but I'd be assuming that-right? I'll comment and say that the portions are large, perhaps that is the only positive to my review of Bacco. But that's where it ends. I asked for containers to pack up the leftovers and as I was transferring the food from plate to aluminum foil dish, the busgirl was clearing the plates as I was placing them back to the table, swiftly taking them away before they even had a moment to rest. Leave the dishes until the diners are completely finished, not still trying to pack up the remaining food and taking away the dishes the second they hit the table. Again, that rushed feeling-which as a diner, I don't appreciate. From start to finish, the meal took 40 minutes, which I guess one could say was a blessing after consuming a "meh" meal. The restaurant made it feel as though they wanted you in, fed, paid and done to get you out the door to serve the next party. It felt like a crappy chain restaurant, which this place definitely had that vibe. If you're in the mood for Italian, keeping spying around Yelp, you'll find other restaurants that will meet this need without feeling like you've sunken low enough to eat at an Olive Garden-like establishment.

I have passed this place for the past couple years and have never gone in but had a few minutes today and decided to give it a try..... The restaurant is open with the cooking exposed on the right as you walk in and it smelled great. The reason it doesnt get a higher rating started as I walked in. I wasnt greeted by anyone and wasnt sure if I should seat myself or wait for assistance; if I didnt seek someone out I would still be there. I was told to grab a seat and someone would be right with me; I good at following instruction and did just that and then waited.....and waited. In fairness they had a large party in the back that was keeping them hopping but I had to go back to the counter and waited again for anyone to acknowledge me....and waited...I finally waved down a waitstaff member who told me they would be right with me, I had already grabbed a menu and been there by now for more than 15 minutes. I told him I knew what I wanted and ordered it, he was pleasant and helpful and apologized for my having to wait. I was appeased and went back to my table and waited.....and waited......it took another 25 minutes for my lunch to come and I was again apologized to. I can tell you it was worth the wait. I ordered Chicken Rustica; a nice chicken breast in a bed of angel hair smothered with cherry peppers, capers, olive oil, olives and sausage. It was a taste sensation and I think at 12.95 it was a really good value. I would love to try it again for dinner and it is a BYOB; based on my meal today dinner could be excellent and as a BYOB would represent a nice meal out but my fear is that our trip here would be all we have time for. I did talk to a friendly member of the waitstaff and asked them if they were understaffed today (to give them the benefit of the doubt) and was told "no" I pointed out to them that I had counted 18 people who had come in and left because they werent greeted and didn't know what the protocol was here. I was told that the person running the shift didnt leave the register area which is 50 feet from the front door and no one was approached as they entered. I HATE bad service, in this case it was caused by a lack of staff and a lack of a greeter or hostess and add a few more people on the floor so we can get in and out; especially at lunch. No one has that much time for lunch. I feel that if they became more attentive to the customer they would be deserving of another 1-1/2 stars. It's your call Bacco!

Well, the seating time isn't the best, but I'm not complaining because for the price, the meal was extraordinary. We had the anti-pasta salad..very good and I am probably most picky about the taste and texture of that particular dish. I had the Brocoli rab Stromboli and I can never finish, which is okay since lunch is covered for the next day. My guest had the baked ziti and that was tasty. Atmosphere is charming considering the location. It's BYOB and who doesnt' like that?! It'll be around for a while that's for sure.
(4)Kerry D.
Nice place. Quick, good service. Good food. Can order to go. I recommend the Tortellini Alfredo. Calzone was good but huge portion. The caprese salad was a bit underwhelming. But in general good food and great service.
(4)David R.
I have been here several times and each time I have had the same experience; good to fantastic food, but VERY long wait times. My last visit was on a Thursday evening in early Nov '13 and it was packed. The pasta fazool was good and everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had the Linguini Fra Diavlo and it was smothered if far too much marinara. However, the amount of sauce one likes on their pasta is a personal preference and as I've said, the rest of the food was very good. As everyone has noted, though, expect to be there awhile. Put aside some time, bring a bottle of nice wine and enjoy the company of your companions.

I agree with the previous 2 reviews. Unfortunately, their service has not improved since their reviews in 2010! The food is OK - make sure you like garlic, as they seem to ensure a strong dose in their dishes (borders on drowning the dishes in garlic). I've had much better in Doylestown. The biggest issue, as with the previous two reviews, was the service! You are not greeted by anyone when walking in, and unless you know how to navigate and seat yourself, you have to find someone from the wait staff to ask - no sign or indication that you seat yourself. The real frustration began when we ordered our food. Most of us at the table ordered the pizza, and an appetizer of calamari, while my daughter ordered some chicken fingers. Calamari came out first (they got that right), followed shortly by the chicken fingers. Now one would think that the pizzas would follow shortly, so we would all eat around the same time. Not at Bacco. We waited nearly an hour for our pizzas (including my 7 year old son, who got to watch his sister eat her food, while stealing some of her fries)! Even when my son's kids pizza came out, it was so watery, all the cheese and toppings sunk to the middle of the plate they put it on. Disappointing. The restaurant is not that large inside, and the wait staff was friendly, so I can only surmise that they need some help with the organization and flow in the kitchen. Regardless, I would not go back, and frankly, would not even bother ordering pizza for takeout, there is much better to be had in the Doylestown area.

This place has gotten a lot better since it first opened . The food is good and the Brooklyn pizzas are fantastic. The layout is still a bit strange but the service has gotten better as well. Lunch and dinner time is crowded but that's bc it's good and reasonably priced in comparison to the other Italian places in town.
(4)Seth R.
3 stars, but I like the place. This is NYC comfort food. Bacco is inspired by the glorified pizza places you'll find all throughout the outer borrows of NYC (Brooklyn, Queens, SI, Bronx). For the price, you can't beat it. But a few dishes are surprisingly well prepared, like the broccoli robe appetizer and the linguini in white clam sauce -- not great, but pretty good for a pizza place. On the other hand, the veal cutlet Parmesan misses the mark. Thickly breaded and fried low quality meal and drenched in red tomato sauce and cheese and slathered with soft pasta so it's more like lasagna once it arrives. But I still order it when I'm in the mood to stuff down a plate of southern Italian food.
(3)Alexandra L.
Great food and I love that it is a byob! The drunken gnocchi and the bread are amazing!
(4)Robin P.
Stopped in here for lunch while in town on our anniversary. The margherita pizza was excellent, as well as the garlic, olive oil and Parmesan sprinkled bread they brought for appetizer. Accompanied by nice Italian ballads by Frank Sinatra that were playing, it made for a very nice lunch.
(5)Dave W.
On the plus side, the Drunken Brooklyn pizza is fantastic and my son loves the Buffalo Chicken pizza. We've ordered entrees in the past which have been generally good. However, the overall experience is not good. We arrived on a Friday evening at 6:20 pm and were told it was a 30 minute wait. Almost an hour later we were seated. I can understand 5 or 10 minutes late, but not almost double what we were told. When I mentioned this to the host, I received an insincere apology. Then we were seated at one of the high tables near the kitchen area. There was a vent over our table from which a/c was blowing off and on most likely due to the heat generated by the kitchen. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient; no complaints there. If we go back, we'll go on a Mon-Thurs night or do takeout; there is no reason to eat here on a Friday or Saturday evening.

excellent buffalo pizza--the chicken was tender and moist, excellent cheesesteaks, atmosphere and ambience were nice, reasonable pricing for the area. In a big strip mall, so plenty of parking. you get a cool little magnetic pizza slice when u spend 10 bucks and when you get 6 of them you get free food. I got one spending 8.75. def go back when im in the neighborhood

Believe everything you read here about this restaurant. We went for the first time on a Thursday evening and everything from the time we walked in til the time we walked out , 2 hours later, was a colossal disaster with the exception of the food. The service was the worst I've ever experienced anywhere. The food was great but seriously took over an hour from the time we ordered, my husband and kids got their meals and mine, which was a salad, was delivered 10 minutes later. I could go on and on but I won't, my bottom line is: I'm not sure if the food out-weighed the service enough for us to go back.
(2)Karen F.
SUPER SLOW SERVICE. Decent food once you get it. This is a review for the Bacco (new location) in the Doylestown shopping Center. The food is excellent and the poritons are enormous. Prices are moderate (about 13 for entrees). But it took forever to: 1. be greeted 2. be seated (we wound up seating ourselves) 3. get menus 4. have someone wait on us 5. get our food (cooked to order so that was OK) 6. get our bill It was like pulling teeth getting service - and the place was not busy. Our party of 4 ordered Pasta fagiole soup (huge bowl for $3.95), linguini with (REAL) clams - so good, Chicken parm (served with a delicious side of mezza-rigatti pasta in a crushed tomato sauce), and I had the Chicken florentine. It was terrific. We'd like to go back but only if we have lots of time to wait around (for the servers) and thus I would never bring my little kid here.

I really want to give this place ZERO stars. For starters, I had made a reservation for 2 and once my boyfriend and I arrived, we were immediately in the way. There was no place to comfortable wait while our table was being set up...constantly in others' way, needing to frequently move. Once we sat (mind you, when we sat, we SUNK as the chairs needs to be re-upholstered badly-there were major butt prints from past guests), it took about 5 minutes until a waiter came and dropped off 2 wine glasses (liked that it is BYO), but the waiter did not open our wine. Fast forward to 15 minutes, STILL waiting to be seen by our waiter. The waiter that came by with the glasses, came by again apologizing that our waiter had not come by stating, 'we are 1 computer down, so we are scrambling.' Soon after, our waiter arrived at our table...did not introduce himself and immediately asked if we were ready to order. We put our orders in and our bottle of wine was opened. Let's just say that bottle of wine was gone quickly, as our waiter went to his surrounding tables, introducing himself to the other guests, laughing/smiling with the others. It gets worse...the free bread they gave us was completely soaked in olive oil and a 'dusting' of parmesan cheese. It was gross, I could eat just bread and butter to survive and even though I was very hungry, I had 1 bite and didn't finish it. Our entrees were surprisingly good, but a bit overpriced for the meal. All in all, if you want to have terrible service and mediocre to bad food, this place is for you. But seriously, don't waste time coming here. Either this place will close down soon or hopefully...just hopefully, the staff get educated in customer service.

The Brooklyn and Margaret pizzas are great highly recommend. The prices are right on the mark for the quality. Their wings are also very good they are not your typical wings. The service is a little slow but they make up for it with quality. Recommend anytime.
(4)Mickey K.
Stopped in for a quick slice of and seated. Took longer than I would have expected to grab a slice but....... The pizza was worth the wait! They brought garlic bread and the staff was quite attentive, didn't have to wait to ask for drink refills. Again....the pizza was excellent!
(3)Corey F.
BYOB. I always stop in for a slice. The veggie wedgie panini is good, but the drunken gnocchi is delicious! Ask for their bread, the fries are also good. Service is slow
(4)Mia D.
OBSESSED with their Brooklyn pie. The sauce is slightly sweet with a nice layering of cheese - not too much but just enough. Thin, crispy crust. Grab one for takeout and a cold beer on the patio with friends. A little slice of heaven right in Bucks.
(5)Diana H.
I LOVE their food. Both locations do not disappoint. The only negative thing I have to say is that the service is terribly slow. They are very friendly, but very slow!! My favorite is the eggplant appetizer and I love love the drunken Brooklyn pizza. Their vodka sauce is a little on the sweet side but soooo good!
(3)Larry M.
Good food and BYOB. Excellent pasta and meat dishes. The antipasto salad was very good and big enough to share. They have a large selection on their menu with reasonable prices. Yes, service is a little spotty but if you bring a bottle of wine, you won't care:). This isn't a place where you can get in and out quickly, which isn't a bad thing, IMO. It used to be a Sparros, so that accounts for the odd layout up front. The negatives aside, this is a good place and is part of my restaurant "rotation".
(4)C G.
don't go during lent. awful wait. food comes out at ad hoc times. everyone apologizes for the wait. over rated,!,!,,
(1)Nick D.
Excellent food all around with great service. This place is a casual BYOB family owned restaurant in Doylestown. The Drunken Brooklyn is a one of a kind for this area & absolutely delicious as it is made with homemade vodka cream sauce & fresh mozzarella with a delicious golden crispy crust. The entrees are all very large portions giving you a great value for the price & they do some great specials I wish they would keep on the regular rotation. Everything is fresh, made to order from scratch ( nothing frozen) so come dinner time when the place starts to fill up the food can take a little while so it's best to go in expecting to wait a little. The problem is the amount of take out orders they get & having to keep up with a busy dining room coupled on top of all the take outs. It's a smaller place & the pizza ovens can only fit so many pizzas at once so if you come to eat in to order an app & a pizza you are competing with the countless take out orders picking up pizzas as well. They need to do a better job of prioritizing dine-in orders ahead of take out so they can serve people faster & also serve more tables. They often turn a lot of people away because of the wait time & that is the same as turning away money/profit. People don't want to come in & wait an hour to be seated & then another 45 mins to an hour just for a pizza no matter how many bottles of wine they brought with them. This isn't necessarily Bacco's fault or slow service ( every time I'm there I see the guys in the kitchen busting their tails & the servers running around like crazy) , but it's a product of the business & something they should try to fix or minimize as much as possible. My only other suggestions would be for them to get completely new tables, chairs & furniture because many of the tables are uneven & no one wants to eat on a table that rocks or green chairs that sink. I think they do well enough where they could afford to toss the furniture & replace it with some casual but well-built replacements. Their servers & managers are mostly all younger kids & extremely friendly that seem to enjoy being there unlike miserable staff at some places. Christine the owner/manager is always warm & hospitable whenever we go in there & seems to truly care that you enjoy yourself. The other manager Ermir has always gone out of his way to see that any issues are quickly taken care of & is very polite & accommodating. This place is great &a true gem in Doylestown, definitely worth the wait. If you want bland tasting food that comes out fast go to Olive Garden, but if you want original, home-made food made from scratch every time that isn't rushed or pre made then Bacco is the place to go.
(5)Angela G.
Excellent service, delicious pie. I was visiting from out of town, but I'll definitely be back. The "famous" stuffed long hots were really delicious as well - spicy and savory. I love that it was BYOB and service was excellent. I'll be back!
(4)Amy B.
I came here for a party and the food was quite good. The vodka sauce pizza is yummy and the complimentary bread soaked in olive oil is also very good.
(4)Gary K.
Good food and service but air conditioning on too high and food got cold fast. Wish salad was part of entree.
(3)Colleen M.
I have mixed emotions about this place. I LOVE their pizza. Its amazing.... I highly recommend getting their pizza, however if you do, just order it TO GO. My fiance and I just left there after having decided to try a "sit-down" experience in their restaurant. We left feeling pretty appalled at the quality of service. We both agreed that neither of us felt like they even WANTED our service. Which is unfortunate because we are great tippers! Ten minutes for the waiter to approach us, my meal came way before his, and the waiter never put in the appetizer order. He actually said to us "did you STILL WANT it?" Um yea! we want what we ordered? No apology from him at all... and he actually completely avoided us after that. Who I can assume was the manager (a woman) brought our appetizer (after we were done eating our meals!). We asked if we could just get two boxes (one for his dinner and one for the app) and the check. She asked us if everything was ok? We said well we JUST got our appetizer. She said "I thought you just ordered it." In a matter of fact way, as if this was all our fault and not theirs. She did however take the appetizer off our bill which was nice.... but when she brought the check, she quickly walked away and we just barely caught an "I'm sorry". Neither one of them smiled, ever. Complete straight, miserable faces. I never felt so unwanted and unappreciated for our business in my life!

I tried Bacco Bistro & Pizza out when they first opened and was not impressed, but my recent visit bummed them up from a 2 to 3 star. Unfortunately, I have the same complaints as previous yelpers - they definitely need to improve the service aspect of their business. When our party of 4 first walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone. Instead all of the servers etc just buzzed around us rushing from one table to the next, not paying any attention to us. Finally, we bothered someone to put our name in for a table (the place was packed on a Thursday night). The wait was about 15 minutes, but after we were seated our service was a bit slow. We ended up trying the drunken gnocchi and a tomato and basil pizza. Both were very good. I liked the vodka sauce and the gnocchi were cooked well. The tomato and basil pizza was very garlicky which I like but could definitely be a turn off for someone who is not as fond of garlic. Since the food was good, we would likely return even though the service is lack-luster.
