While I wouldn't normally bother reviewing a chain, I happened to eat here with some members of my family and I was fairly impressed by the service. My grandparents were there, both of whom have some trouble walking and one who had trouble ordering (my grandfather, whose birthday it was), but the staff went out of his way to make him feel special anyway. The food is pretty good for a chain steakhouse and I would probably say better than comparably priced places like Outback or Longhorn.

When I go to a steakhouse, I prefer a more upscale atmosphere. The food at Texas Roadhouse is OK for a family but it's not a destination restaurant.

Server was non existent had to actually point out 10 minutes later we still had no drinks. Never checked whether we liked food or not. Food was okay that's why they get 2 stars but FF were cold, applesauce from a can and baked potato ok, but even Wendy's can do those. They do need to improve their wait staff's skills saw several people just standing around...or perhaps we got stuck with the bad apple of the bunch. Rolls could benefit from another butter "cup" in the basket, one tablespoon isn't enough for 4 giant rolls. Would be nice to include plain butter for those who don't like cinnamon.

So underwhelming. I get it, you're a chain, but c'mon. It's kind of hard to be this bad. Came here begrudgingly with a friend, and from the moment I walked in I knew that this wasn't my kind of place. The decor was overly flashy and tacky (not in a cute, kitschy way) and the waitstaff dances every half hour to some terrible country song. For whatever reason, this particular combo of ambiance just really made me want to punch something. Not my thing. Aside from the cringe-worthy atmosphere, my biggest gripe would be the fried pickles that I ordered as an appetizer. I shit you not, there was no pickle inside the breading. I'm talking straight up microscopic sliver of pickle covered in too-salty fried grossness. So sad cause I love me some fried pickles. For my entree I got the 'Chicken Critters' (whose idea was this?? seriously.. critters??) which is essentially just a chicken finger. I chose corn and mashed potatoes with gravy for my sides. Corn came from a can and was watery. The mashed potatoes were smothered in thick, gelatinous gravy. The critters were obviously pre-frozen. The one saving grace from this experience is the fresh baked bread and cinnamon butter. Just... don't do it.

We eat here often and the food is normally pretty good but it's also very inconsistent. I def think it depends on whose cooking that night. 4 out of 5 times good is great. Service well- so so. She was fine nothing really wrong she just looked absolutely miserable.

We ate here last night for dinner and while the food was good (and usually is), the service was just so so. I say "so so" because our server was very nice, but far from attentive. There would be long periods of time before we ever saw her. It took about 15 minutes to get our salads (they're pre-made), and it took almost an hour to get our meals. When the manager asked us how our meal was, we told her that our food had taken a really long time. She just gave us a puzzled look and said she would "talk to the cooks." Less than acceptable response from management in my opinion... As for the food, it was very good as it usually is. I ordered the oven baked chicken with steamed broccoli ($10.99) and my wife ordered the pulled pork with mashed potatoes ($9.99). Both were very good (especially my wife's pulled pork). The kids split the chicken critter kids meal with fries ($5.99), which is big enough for both of them to split after stuffing themselves with unlimited fresh rolls with cinnamon butter and peanuts! We really like going here because it's affordable and the food is usually pretty good, but the service needs a serious overhaul. I would give 3.5 - 4 stars for the food, and maybe 2 stars for the service. We will come back again, but not as often as we would if the service were better.

Service. Slow. Food...beef tips were chewy and way under cooked. The ketchup was spoiled. Drinks...watered down. Not so clean. Again....service was so slow and the place was not even half packed.

You know what I hate about this place, every time you get seated the Waiter/waitress comes up and says "have you ever eaten here before". Even if I haven't is it really that different than any other generic bbq place? The ribs are boiled till perfectly dry, steaks are over sauced.

My husband likes the steak selection here so back we go but I have to say I do not like it. It's dirty. Every time we go it's the same thing. Dirty plates. Dirty utensils. My sons knife was dirty and it was so dirty that I can't believe the employee wrapping the utensils in the napkin didn't see it...the bread plate had dried food on it, my husbands bread plate had greasy fingerprint marks on it, my fork had food stuck between the tines..my salad had a hair in it..the "seasoned rice" was disgusting..it was like old rice-a-roni...mushy and clumped together and loaded with salt..I gave it 2 stars because my steak was good and properly cooked. After that, not much else is good. Their side dishes are weak at best...I just can't get past the lack of attention to the cleanliness of their dinnerware. It's very unappealing.

I've been here a few times, trying out different cuts each time and taking some of other peoples'. I'm just not impressed. With this restaurant and chain. The steaks have come out either dry or wet. Strangest thing. This may be why I buy steak at the store and cook it at home now. It's just not worth the price, loss of hearing and hint of claustrophobia.

I have been to these location multiple times and I had good dinner experiences but tonight's experience was different. Our waitress showed up almost 10 min after we were seated. Cons: 1. My partner ordered a cocktail and it felt like just fruit juice. No sign of the rum at all. 2. Our entree came after a long wait and my steak was cold. My partners chicken was warm. No sign of our waitress to check on how the food was. I had to complain and send it back. The dinner plates weren't even warm!! Pros: 1. Steak fries were hot and delicious! 2. The rolls were good as always. Texas Roadhouse, Downingtown is off my list.

I would like to take this opportunity to express how BAD the take out service is. Not one, not two but four times that have messed my order up. The last time the stake was bad I could not eat it. Yes I know check your food before you leave.....but sometimes you just don't have a chance to check it.

The food is always good but the service sucks! It has happened to us on numerous occasions, all the staff disappear at the same time, like they all go outside to smoke, and then a few minutes pass and they all appear again. One night it was very slow not many people dining and it took over 40min to get our meal (there was 2 of us!). They need to get it together!

Was an awesome place to eat but when we went there for Father's Day, the ribs were dry and the steak lacked flavor. Not sure if we'll be going back, it's a lot of money to spend on mediocre food.

Food and service was excellent. Sat at the bar and Devin waited on us. 7:30 on a Friday night and we were served dinner in less than 15 minutes. I'm really picky about the temperature of my steak and this was cooked a perfect med rare. We will come back!

We went there on the opening day, 3/26/2012. Summary: Food was okay, place is very noisy and there is no problem finding a server, runner, or manager. When the kitchen was slammed, they had all staff do a line dance to make the delay to get food less annoying. They offer call ahead seating, but the whole party must be there before you mention your confirmation code they provide when you call ahead. Expect to be there for at least 1.5 hours from waiting to be seated to getting the to-go boxes and check. There is a kiosk to take in your email address with the promises for a free Appetizer, I would suggest signing up online about a week before you plan to go and bring the coupon with you! Long-winded review: The place was dimly lit, and the country music in the background was overshadowed by the amount of chatter from the other guests. The decor is just like any other Texas Roadhouse, with the bar being in the dead center of the building, and the first thing you see when getting seated.+ The bathrooms were immaculate, and I wonder if this is because it is the frist day it's open, and there was a staff member present in the bathroom, so I'm not sure if that is because they were using it or if they were maintaining it. As we were getting seated, the hostess brought bread and butter for the trip. Once we arrived at our table, we were promptly greeted by our server. She took our drink order, and when she brought them to the tables, took our appetizer order and promptly fired it. Although I ordered a Sam Adams, I was given a Blue Moon, either way, I liked both. As an app, we ordered fried pickles, which were less salty than the ones you can get at Cheeseburger in Paradise, and while their horseradish dipping sauce was far from spicy, it was okay. The bottom of the bowl contained a large amount of oil from pulling the pickles from the fryer. A total turn-off! For the main course, I got the 8 ounce Sirloin, medium, with a side of Steak Fries, a House Salad (Which, they brought out the Salad before the Appetizer; well played Texas Road House!) and a side order of ribs. While waiting 10 minutes to be seated, I was observing the decor which brags of blue ribbon winning fall off the bone ribs, and I had to give it a try. Final results of my dinner: 7 out of 10, it wasn't excellent, and it wasn't horrible. In the end, we were not offered dessert - and for it being the first night open, they pulled it off without a hitch. There was an inaugural dish crash in which at that time I can hear Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton belt out "Islands in the Stream." We plan on going back to try their burgers, and use the Free Appetizer coupon!

I found the whole experience to be sub par. The staff was rude, slow & my steak had to have been one of the most bland steak I've ever had. Avoid this one, go to the one in Glen Mills.

Been too many steakhouses and BBQ restaurants over the years and this one never seems to impress. It's nice that they give you peanuts to take to the table at no charge, and you can throw the shells right on the floor. The cinnamon butter for their rolls is also very good. But the food is just always "ok". Never anything special. I do have to say as a major compliment, the management team really cares there. I can't think of the man's name but he is the owner of the restauraunt in Downingtown and when we told him about a bad experience we had there involving attitude among the assistant manager and the hostesses, he sent us a gift card in the mail as well as 7 Regal Cinemas movie tickets since there were 7 of us in our party that night. Very generous.

Call him a mean ole man but my spouse called the server "disturbingly cheerful." My adjective was "intense". The food was typical for the chain. The salad is always super fresh. I very much appreciate an ice-cold salad plate, the Ft. Worth Ribeye, that I usually order medium, was a tad overcooked but quite tasty. The steaks are on the thin side and I think the sweet potatoes are poached in butter. It's the New Year and I shouldn't be eating beef anyway. Won't really miss TRH.

We arrived on a Saturday evening at 5:30 and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Jason, was fantastic! We found him to be friendly, informative and attentive. The rolls with cinnamon butter were very good. I ordered the Pulled Pork Dinner and my salad came first. It was fresh, green, cold, and served in a chilled bowl. Very nice! I had asked that my BBQ sauce be served on the side but was told that was not possible. The same goes for the Caesar Salad, the dressing has already been mixed in. The BBQ pork had a nice flavor, not too much sauce, but I did find some fat on it which I never like. The corn had a nice flavor, as well. The decor is very southern with a country music/sports bar feel. I was rather surprised by the sign I saw when I entered this establishment "Caution Peanuts/Peanut Dust." This is NOT a place for people with nut allergies. I am surprised to see an establishment not more in tune with the widespread peanut allergy issues we are seeing today.

We came on a busy Saturday night and waited an hour for a table. Waiting area has three A/C vents for a small area, so it was uncomfortably cold. The music and background noise was loud enough to require shouting so that my family could carry on a conversation. My wife and I both ordered steak medium, but they came out well-done. Potato skins (appetizer) were charred on the bottom. Baked potato was overloaded with salt. Not a good dining experience.

My wife and I chose your restaurant for our 22nd anniversary dinner. After years of going to Outback Steakhouse for a steak dinner we thought we had finally found a better alternative. Instead it was one of the worst meals I have ever had, worse than even a cheap diner. It wasn't simply that my steak was not cooked even close to how I ordered it, but that is a good place to start. My Ribeye was supposed to be cooked medium, but what I received was a thin, overcooked piece of meat not worthy of a restaurant that calls itself a steakhouse. I showed the waitress and she said she would get me another one and added, "I don't cook them, I just serve them". I guess she was worried about the effect this might have on her tip. My wife's steak was supposed to be medium but was under-cooked and wanted to tell the waitress but after seeing how she reacted to taking my steak back she became nervous and didn't say anything and just ate the under-cooked steak. I waited and waited for my replacement steak and so for our anniversary dinner my wife ate alone while I was waiting for my steak to be replaced. My wife had no choice but to eat her meal while I was waiting for my steak to be replaced and by the time the waitress arrived with the new steak my wife was finished eating. When my new steak finally arrived and I cut it open it was more overcooked than the first one! My wife had already eaten and I was very hungry so told the waitress I give up trying to get a steak cooked medium, I will just eat what I can of this one. It was not a quality steak. The baked potato was cold and the small bowl of corn that should have been yellow kernels were mysteriously yellow, black and brown. Needless to say I did not even try the corn. So for our anniversary dinner my wife ate alone while I was waiting for my steak to be replaced and then my wife sat there and watched me eating alone. Picking at what was edible. The idea was to have dinner together, instead we had to take turns! It ruined our special occasion. The finishing touch of our terrible experience was trying to fight our way through the small entrance where the heard of people waiting for their tables are packed so tight you literally have to push and shove your way out because there is no room to move. Saying excuse me doesn't work because the music is so loud that the person you are looking in the face cannot hear you. The inadequate waiting area is a nightmare for the people leaving and a potential danger in an emergency. Just part of the Texas Roadhouse of Downingtown experience! My wife and I thought we had found a good new restaurant that we could visit frequently, but after such an unpleasant experience as this I do not feel we could take another chance at being so disappointed again.

So i was there last night. I previously reviewed their location in Harrionsonburg, VA. Had a good experience there so figured I would try this newer one. First, we arrived at about 445 pm. I was impressed with how many customers in the place so early on a Tuesday. We were told business is pretty good. We didn't have to wait but it was a steady pace of arrivals. The place looked clean. Unlike another reviewer's impression, lighting was good. I like the bar in the middle where I can see the TVs if I want to glance over at a baseball game or sports news. As for the meal. Mixed bag. The dinner rolls are as good as any and better than most in the casual dining space. The menu has good variety, focused on steaks of course, and reasonable prices. Fried pickles and garden salad for starters. Don't know why, but I feel like the fried pickles are better at Buffalo Wild Wings. Garden salad was fresh. We went top of the line for bone in ribeyes. Medium rare. Baked potatoes and green beans. Was disappointed. The steaks were actually quite rare. The sides were not cold but they were not hot. In other words the temperatures were all wrong. Service was good. Promptly seated. It's not important to me to pick the steak from the case, but I get the point of letting you do that. Creates a little theater in the overall experience. I wish I had been allowed to cook it myself though. If this were HK, chef Ramsey would have screamed at the cook abt cold food. We accepted our fate quietly. I would give it another try, but I'm not rushing back. It's competitive out there in this crowded space, these guys can't afford to slip up on executing a good concept. Restaurant was well staffed. Our waiter said he only covered three tables. So big investment in labor. The food should match up or it's a waste.

Got takeout last night and was less than pleased. I have eaten at another Texas Roadhouse a year ago and remember it as amazing and worth the 45 min wait. As usual, as I walked in to pick up my food the wait was 45 minutes to get a seat so I assumed it was still good. I was wrong. My wife ordered a 6oz filet cooked medium. We got a golf ball size filet that was very rare. I ordered the bone-in ribeye cooked medium and what I got was anything but. No bone and an overcooked stringy hunk of meat that didn't resemble any ribeye I have ever seen. Our vegetable medley was yellow broccoli that was again overcooked and mushy The best part of the meal was the bread and cinnamon butter. That is sad for a steakhouse. Why are people lining up and waiting 45 mins to an hour for a subpar meal when you can go down the street in Exton and walk into Longhorn Steakhouse anytime of day and have a superior meal. The ONLY thing Texas roadhouse has over other places is peanuts.

My ribeye steak was awesome! I always enjoy the freshly baked bread. Our server was super. So relaxing on a Sunday lunch when this place is not crowded.
