Foster Boys is currently our go-to place for take-out pizza, cheese steaks and similar items. This is in an area with a _lot_ of competition, so I think that our patronage says it all for us. (Off of the top of my head, there is Pat's, Lione's, Anthony's, Cocco's, Brother's, Sal's and now Joey's. And then there is Caln and Coppa 82, which are a little more of a drive for us. Why can't someone open up an Indian takeout place?) Quality ingredients in general and it shows, like Ron's Original. In particular, the bread on the cheese steaks is really good. My only negative with Foster Boys is the small and (usually) crowded parking lot; which isn't exactly their fault and there really isn't any way to fix.

Top notch pizza shop. 1st of all they use sarcones bread for their hoagies and cheesesteaks (ask for the "hard roll"). For their hoagies they use only Boars Head cold cuts, it might be a little expensive but it's worth every extra penny. I've had their pizza also and it is basically standard fare, not the best I've ever had but definitely good and crispy. Locally owned so give this place a shot

Their "ultimate house pizza", with sausage, might be the best pizza I've ever had. This isn't your normal pizza: homemade spaghetti sauce and locatelli cheese make it uniquely awesome. Firm crust, and a nice zing. I'm sure the rest of the menu is great, but it's hard to pass up this pie. And "the ultimate" is why I give them 5 stars. I also like the laid-back, order-at-the-counter atmosphere.

Come in, order cheesesteak, wait 45 minutes with no one in front of you. Sound like a good, quick bite to you? The reason appears to be that delivery takes precedence. The counter person also made us wait a while as they helped with delivery orders. I would absolutely have left after an hour with no food, no line ahead of us, and one sandwich ordered... But I had paid at time of order. Ridiculous. Disappointing.

a friend said try their hoagies they are the best in town. Ordered 3 special Italians half size 46 bucks for 3 of them i figured give it a shot they must be good for that price. So me a my two good friends had them they were so so the bread was good but overall so so they were loaded with veggies more than the coldcuts. but for 46 bucks!! i am all for paying for a good meal but these hoagies are just not worth it. I can go to a deli and buy boars head lunch meats and make a better hoagie at home. come on $46 bucks for 3 half hoagies. I rather go to Sarcone's Deli in Philly 10x better hoagie and way cheaper even driving there its still cheaper

Great sandwiches and pizza. High quality ingredients and homemade meatballs. Try the peppadews they're good on everything.
(5)
Kathryn M.
LOVE their house pie. Cheese under the sauce, nice and crispy...so good. Don't mind paying $1 extra for hard roll for hoagies - they're amazingly good hoagies made with boars head meat. Service is always good.

Foster Boys has been consistently awesome since they opened up back in 2007 or so. There is something special about the pizza, maybe the seasonings they put on it, I can't put my finger on it....just tastes better than the rest. All this time and I've never tried one of their hoagies though. Fast and friendly service...never had an issue with quality at all. Very good stuff.
(5)
Robert P.
It's good. All of it. My issue is what they charge. It's really expensive for what it is. It's $30 at least for two sandwiches chips and two drinks. It's not like the sandwiches are huge they're not. Pizza is good not great and again expensive. There just isn't a lot of value here.
(3)
Mark W.
Just alright. Over priced hoagies but they are good. Pizza is not near best in town. Not always pleasant to deal workers with. Expect to wait for food on weekends.
(3)
Mister S.
Their hoagies are just a notch under Primo. Still better than many other places. Their pizza sauce and cheese are fine, but the crust needs improvement. It reminded me of biting into a piece of toast. I felt like I should spread jelly on it.

I'm not sure what the rave is. Maybe it's just that Downingtown hasn't had a great cheesesteak, pizza or hoagie for so long people don't recognize average food. Nothing here says come back again.

I was searching for a decent hoagie in the area and found the rave reviews about Foster Brothers cheesesteaks. I went there for lunch and service was fast and friendly. I ordered a 1/2 cheesesteak with fried onions. The portion size was so large I couldn't finish it. It was tasty and the best in the area that I have found. I will return!

Foster Boys is incredible. Know that you'll have a wait going into it, as everything they do is fresh cut/sliced/etc. They have the best white pizza in town (get some proscutto on it!), mozarella sticks, and incredible sandwiches. The gravy fries are incredible (but really should provide more gravy...ask for extra) and the $5 milkshake was a 10/10 and a 7/10. It seems like it depends on who is making it. I don't love the Italian Hoagie (my hoagie of choice) as they use sharp provolone; but so many other things are amazing. I really can't recommend this place enough and am surprised it doesn't have a higher rating. However, this is def. a place to go.

Tim E.
I really like this store, and have never had something bad. They are cheesesteaks and other subs are just to die for. The pizza is good, but not the best. I would certainly return simply for the subs, especially the cheesesteaks. Living close to the facility has been great, because I feel as if I've been able to taste a real sense of Philadelphia while being in the suburbs. Overall, I would highly recommend Foster Boys Pizza to anybody.

This is my favorite pizza joint! When they have meatballs, the meatball sandwich is awesome! Meatballs are homemade!

Service is great. Hoagie bread is delicious. We will def come back again. I had the Italian with hot peppers, it was great My husband ordered the chicken cheese steak and ate the whole thing which he never does,

Save yourself some time and go to liones. Foster boys has very poor customer service and is extremely expensive.

My OPINION : Underwhelming. Overpriced. $10.49 for half a Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak, plus extra for fried onions... please blow me away. Instead, I was asking my wife "Is that an onion there?" Quality is good. But I want so much to be a more frequent customer, but have not been able to make the leap. Nice people, though.

Pizza was good, crust was nice and crispy. We ordered a large, but the outside 2-3 inches of the pie was just crust without any cheese, sauce or other ingredients. If I wanted a medium 14" I would have ordered one. The sandwiches are way over priced for what you get. I ordered a eggplant parm half a sub for 10 bucks, it was mostly bread, very little eggplant/cheese in the roll which was very disappointing for the price I paid. If I'm paying top dollar IMHO the sandwich should come loaded, Won't order sandwiches from them again, but might try again on the Pizza.
(3)
John M.
I ordered 3 cheessteaks and was very surprised when it was over thirty dollars. When I asked if ten dollars each was correct the girl at the counter assured me that they are worth it. They weren't. Small portion and over cooked meat. I won't be going back.

Had read in Philadelphia Magazine that this was one of the best pizzas in the 'burbs, So even though there are over 20 pizza shops within 2 miles of my home, we made the 12 mile drive to Downingtown to try it. We are a fan of the sauce on top and love Penny's of Limerick (tho not lately) and Franzones of Conshohocken. The staff were nice enough and the pizza looked fine, but we really didn't like it. We each tried 2 slices, one plain, one pepperoni, the rest went into the trash. The crust was a thicker than I'm used to was very crispy, but bland with the first piece, by the second it tasted like cardboard. There was a little more sauce and less cheese than I would have liked. The sauce wasn't bad, just not good. The crust reminded me of those Joe Corbi fundraiser pizzas. Thought about trying one of the sandwiches, but the price and previous reviews kept us away and since the pizza was so disappointing, I'm glad we didn't.

Just moved to Downingtown from Philly. One of the things I knew I'd miss was the sarcone rolls you can only get downtown. Well, how psyched was I when I walked into FB, and saw that they use sarcones?! ...AND boars head meat. One of the best hoagie in the burbs hands down. The special italian with long hots on the side... Fuggettaboutit. Ps... The pizza was just ok, but 5 stars for the hoagies.
(5)
Andre B.
Great food, great service! Pizza pretty good for not being in NYC, great subs and great bread too. Lucky to have such a gem in Downingtown! I'd try the Philly cheese steak

Don't eat the Brownies!! I like the sandwiches, pizza, etc at Foster Boys, but watch out for the brownies! I saw them in the display and thought I would pick one up for desert and when I took a bite I started gagging and had to spit it out in the trash! The taste lingered forever, I am not sure if it was really old or what but it was really gross.

If you want a high quality sandwich there is nowhere else to go. They get it right from the bread to the meats and cheeses. Fun atmosphere and friendly people. Whenever I need an awesome sandwich, I don't ever think twice about going to Foster Boys

I ordered an Italian hoagie...it was very good and plentiful. They are not stingy by any means and the roll was very good. I gave 4 stars b/c it is pricey and it took awhile for two sandwhiches. I hear their pizza is good also.
(4)
Jason F.
Solid hoagies, especially with the hard bread. I think they deliver and have heard that the pizza is good. Minus one star because they are pretty pricy.

I have heard great things about Foster boys for sandwiches and pizza. We tried them out this evening. Their pizza is reminiscent of pie I would get at 2 AM which after a night at the bar is the doughy equivalent of crack. However, in the light of day and with my wits about me eating this pizza was, well just okay. I will not be passing judgment on the whole place just based on their pizza. After all, their marketing says great pizza and amazing sandwiches. More to come on this place later. I was delighted to know that the staff is knowledgeable about what ingredients they use in their pizza dough. My son has an egg and peanut allergy and that makes it awfully tough at times to eat out. Thankfully, they do not use any peanut or egg product in their sandwiches or in their pizza dough. So far, there are a lot better local places for pizza. I will report back on their sandwiches another time.

Steve D.
Probably the best hoagies and cheesesteaks in the area. The only competition is Primo's which opened up down the street where Doghouse Burgers used to be. I visit here for the Super Italian hoagies, their Italian Special Cheesesteak, and their Porkette & Provolone. My wife enjoys the raviolis too. I can't comment on the pizzas but stop in for a hoagie/cheesesteak!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
