Here is a copy of one of their health inspections. I walked in the staff was rude and I left. I thank God after reading this in the YDR. Inspected June 27. Out of compliance. --- Sal's Pizza, Dover Township. Violations: -- The person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. -- Food employee observed donning single use gloves without a prior hand wash. -- Hand sink missing a hot water knob. Hand sink was dry. Employees not washing hands at the hand sink. -- Raw chicken was stored above ready-to-eat deli meats in the walk-in. -- No sanitizer detected in the wiping cloth bucket. -- Can opener, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. -- Meatballs and sauce, which were cooled, was not reheated to 165 degrees within two hours, for hot holding. -- Meatballs were held at 129 degrees, rather than 135 degrees or above as required. -- Pizza cutter stored directly under the hand soap. -- Food stored directly on the walk-in freezer floor. -- Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in front counter area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor. -- Single use to-go items are stored food side up. -- Dining room fan covers have an accumulation of static dust. Not bad but not great either. Prices getting to be too high, particularly delivery fees. Bacon cheeseburger sub pretty good. Great home made pizza dough rolls do stand out.

I used to eat here all the time....but one time my girlfriend came up from Maryland and we got a pizza and we noticed a hair baked in it! Since then I went back once and seen that they don't even wear hairnets at all in there! Even the owner!!!! It's a shame too because the food was always awesome! So I stopped going....

Sal's is great- a small little family joint with great pizza. Their pizza is thin New York style with salty cheese. We usually order our pizza well done so it is nice and crispy. The wings are great too- nice and well cooked, not chewy or fatty. Service can be lacking at times but it's not enough to keep me away from the food.

I wish I could give them more stars. They struggle with consistency here, the pizza is great sometimes and mediocre others. They've ratcheted up their prices so my expectations are higher and they haven't met them yet. I will continue to patronize them since they are a local business....

Meatball jalapeño pizza here is really good. They use large meatballs, and the crust and cheese are closer to NY style than any other place in the York area. They also deliver, and accept cards.
