Tonight I had dinner at the bar with a co-worker. We are in the area on business and booked two rooms at the hotel. The rooms are quaint and comfortable. Our meals were great. I didn't have anything out if the ordinary. The dishes were simple and done very well. The service was amazing. Krissi was our server at the bar. She was extremely friendly and accommodating. She went out of her way to make the experience top notch. She went so far as to box up our food for lunch the next day and give us a bag of ice to keep it cold in our coolers overnight. Another diner who sat nearby and was an apparent regular provided friendly conversation. Overall it was a perfect dining experience. I will make plans to visit this establishment next time I am in the area. Thank you Yellow House Staff and Patrons! -Brad (environmental specialist)

My wife and I stopped in last weekend after finding the Yellow House on Yelp. The pumpkin ravioli that we had for an appetizer was very good and something out of the ordinary. I had the seafood medley (crab cake, shrimp and scallops) -- very good. Janice had the red snapper which was excellent. For dessert we had the pecan and blueberry pies. Both were very well done. The service was top notch, very attentive but not overwhelming. Finally, the atmosphere is not something you'd ever run across in a chain restaurant. The building was built in the early 1800's and the dining areas are different rooms, set off from each other. Almost like dining in a private residence. Overall, a most enjoyable dining experience.

We ate here last week and can't wait to go back. The atmosphere, service and food were all amazing...

My wife and I took two grandmothers, a sister, and a mother-in-law for a combined birthday/mother's day lunch. The atmosphere is rustic and genuine; lots of colonial or Federalist feel to the place. Small rooms, a lot of carved wood, a very genteel sort of place--and I wouldn't say they've overdone it by putting portraits of George Washington or Ben Franklin around the place, a lesson restaurateurs from my home state of Virginia could use. The wine list was surprisingly impressive, with a good dozen reds and the same number of whites covering a wide range of varietals and regions. I had a Toasted Head chardonnay for $7. Actually, I had two, since some of the ladies with me started bickering halfway through the meal. My wife and I are vegetarian, so were disappointed by the online menu, which had no veggie options, but on their actual menu (handed to us) had at least three: a veggie pasta, a teriyaki vegetable stir fry, and something else (plus normal salads and apps). The veggie pasta would be great for anyone on a low fat or low sodium diet. As far as I could tell, there was no dressing, sauce, condiment, or herb on it. Penne from a box, it seemed, though the vegetables were fresh. The veggie teriyaki was nice, but seemed like the same exact veggies as went into the veggie pasta: broc, cauliflower, carrots, onions, peppers. That's fine, but a sprinkle of water chesnuts, baby corn, bok choy, bamboo sprouts, etc. would've at least given the impression that it was an Asian meal. Also, I was offered a side-salad with it, which I found a little strange, since I was going to be getting a plate of veggies right after. I substituted some of their pan-roasted redskinned potatoes and instead (threw Deb for a loop), and they were great. Hot bread and butter was the first thing on the table...very nice. Such a small touch, but so many restaurants screw this up! Two meals had to be sent back to be warmed up. The rest were good (hamburger, and a liver dish that I didn't ask too much about since I'm a veg). All in all, not out-of-this-world, but not bad, especially considering they're not in downtown Philly where they could pack the house every night. Well worth a quiet lunch out in a pleasant environment.

I'm a tad late writing this review. This restaurant has such a terrific atmosphere that it gets extra points just for that. The Yellow House was a stop-over stagecoach Hotel/ restaurant in the early days of America. The stables are still there along w/ the Stagecoach shelters. i seldom give points on atmosphere, the restaurant/ hotel is positively cool. Our group of 6 was nicely served. Excellent knowledge of the menu. Food was timely and quite good. So, it still would have gotten 4 stars w/o the atmosphere. My recommendation.....Steak! Stop in nice place.

This is a little hidden gem that I never would have found has my normal hotel not been oversold. Having to stay in the area for work I came across this place on google. I got in early and has dinner at the bar and was fairly impressed with this little B&B in the country. The French onion soup had the requisite amount of gooey cheese and the rib sampler melted in your mouth. I ended with a slice of blueberry pie with a scoop of ice cream as it was made in house and I was sufficiently full and satisfied. With two beers at happy hour I was out of here for just over 20 bucks with tip. The atmosphere is good, LOTS of locals that know each other well but I didn't feel out of place. Will definitely consider this place again when coming to the area.

My husband and I had dinner here not long ago. We drive past quite a bit and finally stopped. The atmosphere was terrific and the bread/butter before the meal was a nice touch. Service was good and friendly. Meals were above average. We will be back.

Nice. Not very imaginative. But nice. Came for lunch with my 12yo. He ordered grilled cheese which was just white cheese. I got a crab cake which was very nicely done and the mashed potatoes were great! Service was average.

First impression we love the atmosphere there. This is a beautiful place and we do like going there when we have the time. I think Patty is co-owner and she is great. Regarding the food in the tavern area - I will say I was once again disappointed with the Bruschetta Caponata- I had ordered this about a month an a half ago during "Happy Hour". Caponata is a type of eggplant mixture . . . I was so excited to see it on the menu. The first time I ordered it I noticed there was no eggplant in it. I mentioned it quietly to my husband and Patty graciously told me she checked with the kitchen and they were out of eggplant - hence the bruschetta not "caponata". Okay, no problem - stuff happens so we let it go - we paid for it but let it go. Well tonight we were driving by the Yellow House and saw a sign that said Happy Hour Sunday through Friday 4:30 - 6:00 pm. We arrived at approximately 4:50pm and were happy to be there. The bar area was welcoming with lively patrons. Deb introduced herself as our bartender/ server and was friendly. She suggested a Cabernet, Merlot, Shiraz blend from Australia - after asking if it was a Yellow Tail and being assured it was not I decided to try it. I thanked her for the suggestion - it was good! We went ahead and ordered a sampling of appetizers. I have to say their Pate is really good. It's topped with a large amount of diced red onion so if you are not a fan let them know in advance. It has a very creamy delicious texture and I highly recommend it. I then decided to give the Bruschetta Caponata another shot, hoping it was the real thing. The appetizer arrived with melted cheese over tomato, onion and what I believe was zucchini on crostini .. . . I tasted it for a moment but detected no eggplant. I asked Deb about it and she assured me the mix included diced eggplant - she even pointed to piece on my plate and said there it is - which I tasted and discovered was only cheese .......... I told her it was good but there was no eggplant. A few minutes later she emerged from the kitchen area and told me that yes, I was right, they did not have eggplant in the Caponata appetizer ...........my husband joked with her telling her that maybe nobody else would know but I would know ............. I was a bit embarrassed but I did know and I could taste that it was not there. I also thought that it was odd that for the second time I ordered this "Caponata" and no eggplant was in it. I was also surprised that she charged us for it even though it was not right and I had left half of it on the plate ........but they do have to cover expenses which I understand so no big deal. Beyond that we ordered the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto - in a gorgonzola cream. This was good but the prosciutto was a domestic brand which I believe they broil for a second or two. The last time we had this there less than two months ago we had four pieces of asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and it seemed like a better quality - tonight they offered us two pieces. My husband also ordered chicken fingers in panko crumbs - they arrived in small pieces - which was also different from the last time we were there. He mentioned something to me and our server Deb must have heard because a moment later she came out and told us the cook was new and gave him the wrong portion. She told us they were bringing out a few more pieces . . .. After we had eaten we were ready for the check. Deb was trying to serve the dining room and the bar area and after a short wait she reappeared and brought us our bill. I was surprised to see that she did not offer any type of "Happy Hour" discount - especially since only a half hour previously a couple came in, sat at the bar and asked about the Happy Hour Special - she told them there was a $1.00 off all drinks .................... they walked out. I decided to ask about the bill because the last time we were there apps were half price and the drinks were also discounted. Deb looked at the bill and said, oh I forgot the Happy Hour discount ............ she then took the bill back and gave us the discounted price (still charging us for the Caponata Bruschetta sans eggplant.) Not sure what was going on there tonight. It seems unlikely that our server would have forgotten the Happy Hour prices when just a short time before our bill arrived a couple came in and asked about it. Then she didn't even tell them about the discounted appetizers .......... Everyone has a bad day now and then. I hope our experiences were atypical because the atmosphere at Yellow House is wonderful. Next time ...... before ordering the Caponata I am going to ask if they have eggplant on hand : ) I suggest people go and try it and decide for themselves. When Patty is bartender we really like it there despite the lack of eggplant : )

Been here twice (once in 2014 and recently), the food was very good compared to the last time we dined here. I got the cod chowder (much better than expected) and the bbq ribs. Large portions and correctly cooked. My friend likes their steak done in a specific way and they did it excellently. The one critique I have was the service was somewhat slow and our waiter was very nice but seemed forgetful. I had to ask for things twice often. All around good experience and the food was great.

The Yellow House has quickly become my favorite restaurant. The menu changes weekly, we've had ribs , chicken dishes, seafood all perfectly cooked and flavorful. Portions are ample and the price is fair. The snapper soup is the best around. The host and wait staff are awesome. Only desire is that they had Melba toast to accompany the snapper . Please try them out !

Having never been here, we were pleasantly surprised. Food was great! Lee started with the baked Brie which was very creamy and sweet with the jelly. My husband had the prime rib that was very nice and cooked to order. I ordered the scallops with risotto. Yum! Dinner was finished with creamy coconut pie and creme brûlée. Can't say enough about our visit. Our waitress Tonya was outstanding. We will certainly be back again!

The food was very good and the ambiance was nice. I would have given a higher rating but service was a little slow and we weren't given any bread before our meal. Over all, a good experience.
