Breakfast Great! Lunch good. Dinner meh.... Chipped beef gravy on a waffle is tremendous, if you like that kind of thing. We have been several times and never waited for a table although food times vary depending upon how busy they are. Sunday breakfast is slow but I suspect as efficient as it could possibly be. Wait staff is excellent- with the exception of one waitress we refer to as the "Dinersaur". She's very nice, but very deaf and always messes up something.... So order loud!!! She's not a deterrent to eating here!!!

So having lived within a mile of this place for 13 years, I've gotta rate it. This place is nothing special in my opinion, but does seem to establish a good aproach to the diner appeal. And that's an important thing to note, it started out, or atleast always came to be more a diner, not a restaurant, if that has changed, perhaps i'll update this review upon any surprises in my next visit. It is better than some, but this area doesn't have the most comparable competition. It has been remodelled very nicely, but the food hasn't changed as far as quality. Goods: Breakfast is about the only thing I reccommend for this place. Waffles, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, etc. The price is reasonable. Salad bar is the only other exception, pretty good spread. Parking is everywhere, they also have a large space underneath, good for banquets, etc (haven't been down there in quite a while, hopefully it was included in the remodel, used to look pretty drab). Good spread on the menu too. BAD: I wouldn't go for dinner, or lunch, food can take a while to be served, and like I said, it's nothing special. only one register to checkout. service can be slow. So that's it, this place is ok, but if your looking for something special, a diner in a small town isn't going to impress. Great for a diner style meal tho!

The food was not good at all. The seafood was over cooked and I don't think there was crab on the crab cakes. The filling was flavorless.

Horrible! We walk in at 9pm Sunday night - place is dead. No one around to greet us, other diners staring at us. We get seated after getting the attention of the waitress. Large menu with pictures of beautiful plated items - don't let that fool you! My husband ordered the prime rib, I ordered broiled scallops in butter. While waiting we went to the "soup and salad bar" aaaaaaack! Everything was runny or dried up! The salad dressings were vomitous! Every salad (macaroni/pasta) tasted exactly the same - gross! Hospital food tastes better than this! We get our meals and wow - I got SIX - yes SIX small broiled scallops on a HUGE meat plate and yep, that was it! $14.99 for this????? My husbands prime rib was thin and looked like is was fried in a pan, yuk! We were appalled! Seriously, a truck stop would be better - AVOID!

My BFF and I went here for breakfast with a restaurant.com coupon worth $5. The owner was so concerned about the fact that she makes NO money on these coupons and tried explaining to us how she had to add $1.39 for my coffee because the waitress charged me the "special" amount for my entree. We couldn't use the coupon with a "special" discounted breakfast (where the coffee is free). So she added the $1.39 for the coffee and then used our coupon. But mind you, she did NOT make any money on this coupon. Are you serious? You couldn't just take the $5 off our bill??? It's always about money

Kid friendly place. They have a salad bar, which seems pretty rare now a days, but it is great, something different. Food is good. Staff was friendly. Very affordable. There was 6 in our group and the bill was the same as if we went to a chain with just my wife and 2 kids. I would certainly recommend this place for a family dinner.

I rushed over here on a recent Friday evening for the shrimp on the salad bar and behold, upon entering and looking over at the salad bar, NO SHRIMP???? The hostess advised me that the shrimp will be put on a certain night, by surprise only. I was shocked and surprised. I thought about leaving but I do like all of the Greek influences on the salad bar here. I was quickly seated and my waitress was great as she refilled my ice water many times during my meal. She was "right on" when it came portion sizes of certain entrees. I ordered the Crab Imperial (Krab Imperial) and although very tasty, very little or no real crab. Ok, what do you expect for $9.99. And that price included the salad bar, 1 vegetable , and ice cream or pudding. The salad bar was how I remembered except there was no feta cheese. The corn bread looked good but was somewhat dry from sitting out all day? The vegetables were all fresh and the house dressing was wonderful. The clam chowder was more potatoes than clams but tasty. This diner has potential for me to rate it as high as 5 stars and I will try to "stop-in" on the "surprise" shrimp night and order a steak, as originally planned.

As far as diners go, this one is the BEST. Staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant is always clean. I never vary from the Chicken Slovakia because it's just that good. Give it a go!

Live right by this place. Very Nice people work here and you are always seated right away. Food comes out fast and is always good. This diner is just a good place to eat. Not bad, not great. Just all around a good little diner.

I stop in every once in a while when I am in a hurry. Usually the lunch or breakfast specials are the better choice, IMHO.

Stopped in at Michael's on Saturday night for an early dinner. We were seated right away and then greeted by our friendly waitress. I ordered coffee and it came out in a thermal carafe. I really love when restaurants do this. I can refill my own cup when I'm ready and not feel like I have to gulp it down when the waitress comes around with the pot. My dinner was a patty melt with fries. The patty melt was very yummy with perfectly cooked onions. The fries were ok and there could have been a few more on the plate, but otherwise a really good meal. My husband had a western omelet with cheese. I think he enjoyed it, since he scarfed down everything on his plate ; ) The price for two was great - less than $20.00. Also, they have changed their flooring from carpet to tile. The tile is really nice, but if I were older and had difficulty walking, I would worry on rainy or snowy days. Looks great though.

Three reasons this joint is still serving food...location, location, location. Do your gi track a favor and drive 7 minutes down 422W to the Exeter Family Restaurant.

My Diner Disclaimer: Here's a double-whammy: One, I'm originally from the Southwest, where diners are scarce. Two, "Pennsylvania Dutch Food" really means, "We like bland and use a crapload of potatoes in everything." So moving to Southeastern Pennsylvania, but not close enough to Philadelphia, meant I was to suffer through a few years of Pennsylvania Dutch Food. After moving to the East Coast, I was amazed by the amount of diners. Through my own ignorance/inexperience of the diner experience, I've found that diners here have the tendency to be hit or miss on decent food. I'm a food optimist. I will try any restaurant, even try it more than once, to give it a good chance to offer me something that will become a craving that will need to be fulfilled in the future. Oh, and what's up with all the middle-easterners and diners? Seriously, I've now been implanted with this stereotype that all diners on the East Coast are run by Turks, Egyptians, and Greeks. As far as diners go, Michael's in Douglassville is one of the better diners I've been to since I moved to the East Coast. The diner is 24/7, which is great for those of us with weird sleeping schedules or random cravings. Michael's caters to the elderly population of Birdsboro and Douglassville and the truckers of 422, so there's a small, well-tended salad bar and decent coffee. The soup selection is typical. They have some nice daily specials that patrons should check out. The food is generic diner fare, but, their cakes and pies, when fresh, are lovely. I'd suggest asking a waitress when they were made, and within a two day window, indulge. Prices are cheap, there's a smoking and non-smoking section.
