I haven't been to a Perkins in YEARS! There weren't any close to where I grew up - and it was usually a stop along the way of a family road trip North or East of Pittsburgh. I went to a networking meeting last night at the Perkins in Cranberry Township. They have two big meeting rooms (great for groups), and an extensive menu - more than what I remember as a kid. Because there is NOTHING wrong with eating breakfast for dinner, that's what I did. I ordered an omelet, with hash browns and toast. The hash browns were really dry and the service was pretty slow for the 9 of us that were there. Almost an hour - seemed a bit much with an almost empty restaurant. I would rate everything as average - didn't knock my socks off. I'd probably go to Eat 'n Park before I'd go back to Perkins first.

Went to Perkins tonight to give this place a third chance. We have had a bad breakfast and a bad late lunch so we thought "what the heck, maybe third time for dinner will be a charm". Well the third time turned out to be the third strike and we are out and won't be back. We ordered a patty melt and the chicken pot pie. We thought these would be simple, easy to produce and send out of the kitchen and provide the best chance for a good meal. Waitress got off to a bad start when we specifically asked for water with no lemon and she came back a few minutes later with the salad that came with the pot pie and two water glasses both with lemon. Not a big deal but a sign of things to come. When the pot pie and patty melt arrived we thought it was strange that the patty melt was on toasted french bread and had no appearance of onions. Just as we were going to call the waitress over about this, she arrives with a new plate of food and tells us she gave us a Philly steak sandwich (strange that was on bread and not a roll) and delivers the party melt we orders. At that point I'm thinking attention to detail and listening skills are not her strong points. We started to try and eat and discovered the following: Patty Melt was undercooked with two slices of uncooked red onion - not the "grilled onions" as stated on the menu and expected on a patty melt. I broke open the top of the chicken pot pie, advertised as "cooked from scratch" and found what appeared to be canned dog food at best in a nasty brown gravy that smelled of scalded milk, salt and a cooked way to long odor. Waitress came back and asked if we liked our meals and when we told her it wasn't edible her answer was "oh that's a shame" with a big grin and asked if we wanted the manager. We asked for the bill, paid the $26 and ran for our lives. We should have known not to give this place another chance. Stay away from this place even if it is the only place open and you haven't eaten for a week.

Once again. Good meal. Good service. Missed five stars cause the walls could use a good cleaning and the bathrooms need updating, but I have stopped here twice and would stop again.

French Dip was ordered here on the way to Pittsburgh. The food was average, place is like an ihop. Uncle ordered a breakfast meal, not sure which one. The staff was really nice and took care of all our needs, no complaints there but the food was not very good. Half a bowl of au jus that was cold and the meat was cold. They did give a shitload of fries w/ the sandwich, YAY.

I always feel kind of silly reviewing restaurant chains, but I gotta tell ya'll how much I love this place (only for breakfast though)! My parents and I are regulars here. The food's great, and the staff is SUPER friendly. I can't remember what the menu is called, but if you get here really early in the morning, there's a special breakfast menu available with 8 options or so? I almost always order the Ham & Veggie Omelette with hashbrowns and pancakes - it only costs about $5 or $6. Sorry, I can't remember the exact price. Anywho, they give you SO much food. Talk about bang for your buck. The omelette is always delish with copious amounts of ham and veggies. The hashbrowns are usually good (sometimes they're overcooked), and the pancakes here are SO yummy. Fluffy goodness that melts in your mouth! I'm a maple kind of girl, but the blueberry syrup is also quite good. If you're in the area, and you're looking for an affordable but tasty breakfast joint, ya'll know where to go! Standard American breakfast fare done right!
