Best part of my meal was the dessert - created by the daughter who just finished in a culinary school. I'd give her dessert a 4-1/2 stars! It was their homemade apple pie with lots of cinnamon and freshly sliced apples you could tell. Layered on top was caramel pecan. It's like Apple pie and pecan pie in one. It that the pecan was so buttery delicious. It was served with whipped cream and a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. My salad was ok. I was disappointed with the dressing. It was the Ceasar salad but it tastes like bottled dressing. The plus was the toasted prosciutto crunchy bits. My Saltimboca was alright. I think the sauce is lacking flavor. Maybe it needs more actual gravy of the meat?? It was just alright. The garlic bread was really disappointing. I think they should use real garlic and probably more bitter taste or olive oil??? I preferred mixing their olive oil on the table with the Parmesan cheese and some peppers to dunk my bread in. Don't order the garlic bread! I like the first floor but to Gobio the 2nd floor without the view - is like eating in a big closet. Maybe they should paint the walls with some scenery - trompe-l'oeil of Slme Tuscan scene.

I ate here recently and was a little worried after appetizers. My calamari was overcooked just a sliver above unedible, and the stuffed cheese wedges didn't seem to have any prosciutto (though maybe it was just thin) and one of three was an empty shell. However, the entrees made up for it. My lasagna was pretty much as good as you could ask for, and my friend's veal osso buco was insanely good. Too bad the osso buco doesn't seem to be a regular dish at this time. They also offered us homemade lemoncello which was great, and the oil for the bread was delicious (I love a good bread with oil). Service was also great.

We noticed the restaurant when we dined at Southern Cross next door a few weeks ago. It's a family owned restaurant and serves family style. I had the lasagna and it was fantastic. Loads of creamy ricotta cheese. We will definitely be coming back. It's byob too.

We had dinner here the other night for a friend's birthday. The atmosphere is nicer that the old place, but we LOVED the old place! This was just mediocre. The food was just OK. My calamari was rubbery and the sauce was bland. A friend got mussels that were very good. I had one of the specials, shrimp ravioli. It was quite good, but only 6 ravioli. We also had eggplant parmesan that was great, and a so-so lasagna. For an Italian restaurant, the spaghetti sauce was horrible. It might as well have been jarred sauce from the grocery store. The tiramisu was not worth breaking a diet for...in fact, except for the cinnamon ice cream and cheesecake, none of the desserts were outstanding. I doubt we'll go back. Although we went to the old place a few times per year. The waitress was a bit surly, which killed our celebratory mood. There was a sideboard very close behind my chair. The waitress came often to get glasses, plates, etc, and each time left me feeling cramped and in the way...and I got bumped by her a few times. What a shame...and we were so excited to hear they had re-opened...

I hosted a surprise birthday party for my sister here in June, we had 30 people join and the surprise went off without a hitch. Viggiano's did such an excellent job with all the prep, food and service that I have to share! Leading up to the event, I worked with Celeste and she was very responsive and easy to work with. The day before the event I dropped off all the "refreshments" for the party (since it's BYO), so when we arrived Friday night it was all set up, on ice with plenty of glasses! The food was delicious, we love family style servings...in particular we loved the bruschetta, chicken parmesan and cannoli's! The staff was so attentive and friendly all night long. My Grandmother (who is usually a pretty tough cookie) wanted to make sure I shared how much we loved it. Viggiano's is awesome, I highly recommend it and we can't wait to go back!

Made a Saturday night reservation for 5 in a quiet room. We were seated on the upper level and shared a smaller room with one other larger table (6). The people in the next room(10) were very loud. The service was excellent and the servers were very knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients, portion sizes, etc. the food was very good although one entree arrived at room temperature. It was re-served piping hot! We enjoyed the lasagna and eggplant Parmesan and the seafood pasta. The green salad was fresh, generous portion and the server put the Gorgonzola cheese on the side for one diner. The pasta is not homemade but still quite good. All the desserts are made on the premises. We had a sampler that was very generous in the portions and delicious. We will return. Great venue, easy parking across the street, and BYOB!

Came here for a baby shower recently. Very nice atmosphere. Everything I ate here was delicious. I love italian food so I was in heaven. The salad was good. The Chicken picatta was great and the radiatore pasta was amazing! We had canolis for dessert and they were sooo good. The staff seemed very nice and accommodating I would love to come back here on my own soon and try some of the other things on the menu. Especially since it's a BYOB.

I absolutely love the food here. My favorites are the eggplant parm (nice and crispy with cheese melted over top), the cannolis, and the ricotta cheesecake. If you haven't tried the lasagna, you're missing out. The service is fantastic and it's a BYOB. It's a family friendly environment but also great for large groups.

I've been here on two separate occasions now, so I figured its definitely time I wrote a review. Both times I've had the same waitress (poor girl seems to always be working) who is part of the family and clearly proud of all they do. She gives you the spiel about homemade everything and family style portions (read: expensive but large). On my first visit, we sat outside, in a converted driveway-garden. The second time around we sat inside, which I found preferable. The decor is fun without being overdone, and you can't really tell that it used to be a funeral home. The food is excellent. I had the calamari both times, followed by the mussels and pasta. The sauce they use is incredible - a homemade mixture of tomatoes, white wine, and garlic. It was good enough to take home even though I only had a small portion of noodles left.
Great BYOB in downtown conshy. Came here for Restaurant Week, I've been meaning to try it since it's made it's return to the downtown Conshohocken scene. It was great! The atmosphere inside was like sitting a kitchen table in someone's house. All the food I tried was delicious and the portions were large. I really enjoyed are waitress who was super friendly and attentive and gave great reccomendations to our questions. I would definitiely go back. Also as a bonus, they do take out.

Came here a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely delicious! We had a group of 6 and split the sampler appetizer and it was huge and so good. The meals were good portions, great prices, and delicious flavor!! Our server Tori was so nice and helpful throughout the whole meal. Will definitely be returning to this place, plus it's a BYOB!

Tonight was the first visit for four of us. We had reservations and after a friendly greeting we were seated. The dining room was a little small and the tables close together. There were no vacant seats. It was very noisy which made it difficult to have a conversation with the person across the table. The service and food was excellent. All four of us had something different and all were happy.

My boyfriend and I ate here one Sunday night. I love a good BYO joint! The mussel appetizer was to die for - I could have used a straw for the sauce ;) the portions were decently large. carbonara was very flavorful. The service was good - very friendly. Overall, I had a great meal and would definitely come back soon!

I was very disappointed in the food and the ambiance. The food was sub par and overpriced. We were crammed into a small claustrophobic room with at least six other parties. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. That being said the "gentleman" that delivered the food to our table was extremely rude. He reprimanded me for trying to help him guide my plate to my spot Needless to say I will not be dining at this restaurant again

Went there for the first time last week with a friend and I was impressed. The service was very friendly and the outdoor seating was nice. I have never had veal parm that was not breaded and still tasted so good.
High quality, homestyle Italian BYOB in Conshohocken. Feels like you're in South Philly. Offers the gamut of classic red-sauce comfort-food Italian entrees. Service was a bit slow so bring an extra bottle of wine to kill the time.

The food was outstanding!! Hands down the best chicken parm I have EVER had. They make their own red sauce and it was to die for. Just as I thought I could not continue to eat the waitress brought out a desert menu and offered me the sampler because our group could not decide....let's just say I have never been so satisfied from a meal. Everything from the atmosphere, hospitality, appetizers to deserts... I highly suggest if you are in the Conshohocken area you give them a try. Family run, owned, and operated they are the best Italian restaurant in town. :-)

It's back and better than ever! This is exactly what Conshohocken was missing. A family-owned, no nonsense red sauce and meatballs Italian restaurant. We were thrilled to hear it was coming back and even more thrilled after dinner last night that the good old fashioned cuisine was just as delicious as ever. This place would fit right in with the standards of South Philadelphia. The meal starts with a delicious basket of warm italian bread, accompanied on the table by olive oil, red pepper, black pepper and parmigiano cheese. I could honestly eat a meal out of these ingredients alone. The bruschetta was simple, as it should be, with chopped tomatoes and warm slice of fresh mozzarella. The ravioli and meatball entree was perfect. A sweet red sauce(or gravy for some Italians) covered a healthy portion of fresh ravioli. The dish was topped with an enormous homemade meatball. The gnocchi entree was kicked up a notch with fresh ricotta cheese mixed in. The portions are perfect and if you fill up on the delicious bread like we did, you'll find yourself taking some entree home so you can relive the experience the following day. On top of all of this, the service was impeccable. Friendly staff, some of whom were new and enthusiastic, some who you could tell were veterans of the original Viggiano's and were glad to be back. A great combination. This is a can't miss small town restaurant experience.

I was only at the original Viggianos (before it closed) two or three times. It was delicious and I was very sad to see it close. When I read that it was re-opening, I grabbed my in-laws and wife and headed down there to see if was as good as it was before (I believe the owners are still the same). They did not disappoint. The bruschetta was probably some of the best I've had (and I order that in almost every restaurant I go to for an appetiser if they have it). The Lasagna was great and tasted home made. My wife got the gnocchi (which SHE always gets) and said it was wonderful. We all split a bottle of wine (it's now a BYOB) and had a wonderful relaxing evening. Staff was very good, filling up water several times and clearing plates reasonably quickly. Prices were in line with other restaurants in the area... not too high, but no "dollar menu". The QUALITY of food you get for the price was very good. If you've never been there before, give it a shot. If you have been there before it closed, it's just as good as it was before, if not better. Definitely going back.

Place is charming with beautiful pictures of the family that owns the business. Food is what you expect to find at your Italian grandmother's home. I couldn't be happier with my experience here service was friendly and personable, food was authentic, decor simply beautiful.

This place is incredibly slow. But the food is alright at best and a little pricey for the quality. They delivered the kids' food quickly though which gives them a third star. Dessert recommendation: cheesecake with raspberry sauce.

Been here twice since it reopened and all I can say is "WOW!!!!" Must I say more?! Okay, I will. Bruschetta....phenomenal. The mushroom and marscapone to die for and the original mozzarella and tomato also killer. Crab cakes....holy amazeballs! Best in town. Boyfriend had the mushroom and marscapone cannelloni and it was amazing. He couldn't resist after tasting that bruschetta. I could go on and on but, lets face it, you would be jealous and drooling at the mouth. Just go. You won't be disappointed.

We were seated upstairs, which was about 100 degrees. There was one window air conditioning unit for the entire space. When asked to be moved, they said there were no available tables downstairs, so we seated ourselves right next to the air conditioner. The food was mediocre at best. The salad and bread basket, were fine, nothing that I would return back for, and our meal had no flavor. We ordered the fettuccine primavera. It's a shame because Conshohocken can really use a good Italian restaurant.
We were lucky enough to get a table here for my birthday last Friday. The place is fabulous. We ordered the appetizer sampler, and cleaned the dish completely. We especially liked the bruschetta and cheese wedges. I had the Chicken Marsala for dinner and it was the best Marsala I have every had. How they get it to be so tender is beyond me. My husband and father both ordered veal dishes that were once again phenomenal. Make sure you save room for desert. They just happen to have one of the best pastry chefs around!!! Make sure you check this place out, you won't regret it!

I went there with a group of friends for an xmas dinner. We were put in a small room which we had to our group. It was wonderful. We all had great meals. Our waitress was wonderful - explained all the specials. frequently checked to make sure everything was okay. we had a wonderful night and a great meal. The prices were great. It was my first time and I will be going back.

The food was fantastic...Unfortuneately that was the only part of the experience that was great. When you walk in there is a weird musty smell. Once you get tot he dining room the smell was gone, but there is absolutely NO ambiance of any type. The decor was bland with no real caracter at all. The wait staff was ok but again showed no real emotion or entusiam.

I went to Viggiano's for the first time last month. I was invited to a birthday bash for one of my friends and had always wants to try this place. I always heard such great things about the BYOB in the heart of Conshy. I really wasn't disappointed. When my sister told me that it used to be a funeral home back in the day, I got a little creeped out. But after entering the place, I felt like I was in someone's home. The staff was very accommodating especially considering the size of our group. Family pictures of the owners were all around and it actually comforted me. Enough about the decor...the food was pretty darn good. We had a mixture of favorites from fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil; delicious Caesar salad; mussels marinara; to spaghetti with oversized meatballs to chicken piccata to cannoli and zucchetto for dessert...I shouldn't have written this before dinner...now I am starving for some of this! Tutti a tavola a mangiare!!!

Look, we're in Conshohocken, not Milan, what do you want? This is good, homestyle Italian that's kind of half trattoria, half ristorante. Okay, I just said that to prove I know the difference. AND WHAT!?! I had a very good veal with prosuttio and in some kind of demi-glaze. Service was slow, but not in a bad way. Just stare at the tromp l'oliel and pretend you're in the old country rather than a suburb of a city where they call water "woodder." This is a family place, if someone in your family likes to bring hard liquor as his BYOB. What's the corkage on half a bottle of Jack? There isn't any as long as you finish it. And, the olives are exceptionally fresh and delicious, so eat them as an appetizer rather than the napkin wrapped Wonderbread.

Well, I would have to say its not the greatest Italian restaurant I've been to. It is a nice place with a nice ambiance. We went on a Friday night and there was a nice gentleman playing the accordian, which was nice and pleasant. To start, we had calamari, which was good. The seafood fettucini was pretty good as well. We also had the chicken cacciatore. The chicken was ok, but it was a little dry...but I guess that's expected of a chicken breast. Now, to the downsides. I can't say too much of the service at Viggiano's. The waitress was very slow to serve us. I don't know how long we had to wait just to get our bread and to wait for her to take our order. And the bread...it was a cold piece of bread and it was wrapped in a paper napkin. I would have easily mistaken the paper napkin for trash. And when we asked for more bread, it didn't come for the longest time. Our food took a long time to come out as well. All in all, this is a nice family style joint. We found this restaurant to be on the pricier side for the amount of food we got. And the service needs to be improved upon tremendously. We're sticking with Maggiano's next time.

The Italian restaurant is pretty good. Great place to go with the family. It is located in a huge establishments (tons of dining rooms in an Inn-like environment. Actually, this was a formal funeral home. And yes, some servers say there are ghosts. Everything is family style and most anything you get is pretty Italian and you won't be disappointed.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

After 20 plus years in the area, we just got around to eating here. Italian was never my go-to night out, but has become increasingly so as of late. I really enjoyed this meal. We sat outside....nice breeze, in the shade, Sinatra on the radio. Our server is part of the Viggiano family and she was enthusiastic and passionate about the food...also a really good server. We started with a mushroom app...sautéed in some divine sauce, perfect for sopping up with bread. We had mushrooms at a Spanish restaurant in London 18 years ago...they were the sole reason I began to eat mushrooms. Have looked for something similar since then, to no avail...until tonight. Hubs had veal Mediterranean...he enjoyed it, though it was a tad salty. I enjoyed my carbonara and our daughter loved her chicken parm (with a second breast going home in a doggie bag). She had a yummy cheesecake, but I was thrilled to get a complimentary homemade Limoncello, my favorite aperitif. First time, but won't be last time here.

What an amazing dinner experience!! My husband & I came here on NYE with a few other couples. They set us up in a comfortable secluded room which was great for such a large group. My my my, what a shame! Back in the day (pre VIggianos 2.0) they used to be awesome. I'm talking give the food at from the boot and run for its money awesome. My fiancée and I went last Friday and we were both very underwhelmed. We made a reservation on open table for 7:15. When we arrived our table was ready however, we had to wait for the waitresses to talk about where they were going to seat the next party of six for a good three minutes before they brought us over to our table. The waitress (who was awesome) told us the specials for the night which sounded great. She then brought us our bread (a cold store bought loaf which was sliced into a napkin) Here's how is went down... Bruschetta- excellent, the best thing we ate all night. Crab stuffed mushroom- crab was great, mushroom was under cooked and had no seasoning. The "peppers" around it came from a jar. Spinach ravioli (special)- Good sauce, mediocre ravioli (store bought?) Penne in rosa sauce- absolutely terrible, the sauce was so watery it didn't even hold to the noodles. The flavor was nonexistent and it had those awful peppers again! Asparagus- Really good but very buttery, not exactly a healthy choice. I get that the establishment used to be a funeral home but the vibe was DEAD. I felt like everyone there was at least 25 years older then me and the air was just.... Stale. For $90 for two people you're better off going to my Nonna's house, tell her I sent you.

High quality, homestyle Italian BYOB in Conshohocken. Feels like you're in South Philly. Offers the gamut of classic red-sauce comfort-food Italian entrees. Service was a bit slow so bring an extra bottle of wine to kill the time.

Nice meal for five. Lasagna was delicious , mussels very good, airline chicken very tasty. Would go back again

So happy they returned to Conshohocken. I love their veal and shrimp dish. Servers were very friendly and attentive.

Service not good, food lacked any flavor, very pricey for subpar food, such a shame was looking forward to this all day very disappointed not worth a second chance

Viggianos. viggianosbyob.com 16 E 1st Ave, q, PA 484-344-5561 Monday Closed. Tuesday 5:00 - 9:30 pm Wednesday 5:00 - 9:30 pm Thursday 5:00 - 9:30 pm Friday 5:00 - 10:30 pm Saturday 5:00 - 10:30 pm Sunday 4:00 - 8:30 pm Grade : A+ The good old fashioned cuisine was very delicious as always. You are first served with a savory basket of warm italian bread, accompanied on the table by olive oil. Then my family ordered the mixed green salad. The lettuce was very fresh and crunchy and had a good balance of blue cheese and dressing. I had the choice of ordering a single serving or a two serving of any meal. I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo and it was phenomenal. It had the perfect amount of dreamy Alfredo sauce. The broccoli was perfectly sautéed and the tasty white meat chicken pulled the meal all together. My father ordered the Chicken Parmagiana. He says that no one prepares and makes the chicken better than at Viggianos. I had a small piece and it was mouth watering. Our servers name was Holly and the first thing she did was give us a brief history of the family that owns the restaurant. She was very attentive and described the specials nicely and took our orders after we all decided what to have. She and Josh delivered our food in a timely matter and then frequently checked on us. I think Viggianos would be $$$. It is kind of expensive but for the size of the meals it makes it reasonable. I don't believe that the menu items are too pricy. When you walk into the restaurant it just smells very fresh. The walls are lined with old family pictures of the Viggianos. While you are there, there is nice soft Italian music playing. Everything is extremely clean and fresh. In the bathroom had a cool thing that I have never seen before, mouthwash. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. The atmosphere of the whole place is very inviting and friendly. Overall our experience was very enjoyable. The best time to check out this Gem in Chonshohocken is during the week, when you get the feeling your the only ones at the restaurant. It's always a good idea to check out the specials but remember you can't go wrong with the classics mentioned above. The cleanliness of this place was superb. I would give it 5 stars Food Critic : Victoria H

GONE- Viggiano's is closed. It will re-open as Spampinato's the sister restaurant of Spamps with their outdoor seating area being renamed "The Grotto"

Viggiano's is one of my go-to restaurants. There food is always good, very consistent. Service can be slow at times, but the wait staff is friendly. Great place to enjoy some Italian classics and a bottle of wine.
