Love their mussels and pasta. I have been here twice already and was never disappointed. Tried their spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs were delicious. Tried their veal diavolo and that was awesome too. Are all the bread to clean the plate and get all the sauce. BYOB to make the meal complete.

We read the reviews and thought to try it. They must have been a really off night. All the food was uniformly awful. The mozzarella tomato salad was over salted and too much oil. The Veal Parm was burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. The gnocchi was not home made and chewy. We didn't stay for dessert. Only saving graces was the warm fresh bread. We won't return.

My husband and I tried Piato Grille for Valentines Day and it was our first time. I had heard people that liked it but didn't read any reviews...I normally check but we just figured we'd try. The hostess was very nice along with the rest of the staff. I think out waiter was new, he seemed nervous and didn't flow as well as someone with more experience would have. No biggie, took our order and then we received warm delicious bread with a wasabi cucumber dipping sauce...very good! I got the stuffed mushrooms and the beet salad, both were tasty and a perfect portion. My husband said his cobb salad was tasty also. I had the lobster ravioli and I think our waiter forgot about us for 2 reasons. The chief brought out our entrees and when the waiter did get back to us he cleared al but our silverware thinking we needed it for dinner. We laughed because honestly we were in no rush and didn't find it to be a big deal. Besides not being hot, hot it still tasted very good. I wouldn't say it was the best meal I've ever had but I would still go back. I liked that it was BYOB since not too many exist in Conshy. I do think they could improve the decorations, like having some. Plus they have no door blocking off the kitchen so you can see right in. We couldn't from where we were sitting but other seats could see right in.

I have looked at these reviews before & was a little skeptical to stop in to be honest but really happy that we did! From the second we walked in the door & were greeted by the hostess, the service was awesome. A little after taking our order, the waitress came out & said there was a minor mix-up which would cause a little delay & she wanted to bring us out a free appetizer. We thought this was a really nice gesture, since we were chatting away & didn't even notice the time lapse & also considering they had already provided the free bread for us. The chef also came out to apologize & was really proactive on the floor asking different tables about orders & checking on food that was being sent out. He stopped by our table a couple times, which was a really nice added touch. Unfortunately, I can't remember the waitress' name - She was a younger brunette who was the only one on the floor but did an awesome job. The shrimp appetizer was good (the shrimp were really big!), the pork loin was great & the hot Italian sausage in the pasta was my favorite. The decor was also really nice. We'll definitely be back. The only suggestion that I have is to better advertise that it's BYOB. I'm not sure if we overlooked it anywhere but had no idea until we sat down & saw bottles on the table & then people leaving with them.

Great short rib sandwich, and pizza steak. Rolls are awesome. Wish they had coke instead of pepsi. Steaks are all choice cut.

Dinner Saturday night. Had high expectations after family told me how much they love it here. Have to say the service was great but the food was overall executed poorly. I really wanted some traditional Italian food, what I had been told they excelled at but there was little on the menu. What we did order was just okay, nothing special and I doubt I will be back. From the Boot up the road is a much better choice with Rowell executed pastas and other dishes. My choice in the future.

The food at this place is mediocre at best and the pizza is horrible. To top off your bad experience, the owner walks up to your table like he's Bobby Flay and interrupts your conversation to talk to you about himself...looking for praise for the bland meal he put in front of you. It's awkward and rude. I came there to talk to my date, not hang out with the owner. The pizza has a seasoning on it that smells like stove top stuffing. The cheese is bland and well as the sauce. The crust is palpable. The buffalo chicken cheesesteak is horrible. The chicken tasted like it was off the shelf of a supermarket. Hoagies are ok here because the roll is good. Chicken quesadillas would be better without the chicken. Wings are ok Sausage is blah. I've tried to like this place but we'll never go back. There are so many other choices in this area to not waste your money.

My husband and I had an amazingly wonderful dinner at Piatto Grille last evening 4/3/13. The warm bread and delicious pesto dip was perfect while we waited for our crisp and tasty calamari to arrive. We then split a wonderful fresh and milan salad. My husband had the tasting dinner so he had chicken parmesan which was awesome. I ordered their unlimited mussels (and you can keep varying which type you order with each new order). I stayed with the fra diavalo because it was amazing. The sauce was perfect and I dipped crispy bread in it, instead of using the bread on the bottom of the bowl which my husband preferred to eat. The owner is also the chef and he stopped by a few times to make sure we were happy and he was willing to modify or vary whatever we wanted. In this day and age of so many restaurants to choose from having one as memorable as this for a reasonable price, I know we will be back again and again. I hear lunch is wonderful so we are going to try lunch. I hear their brussel sprout salad is second to none. This place is a keeper. Sandy

Looks like a Pizza Shop but is MUCH MUCH more! this is our new Friday night stop Fantastic food, staff is about as nice as you can get, the chef even comes out to greet the patrons Amazing selection HANDS DOWN best pizza in Montgomery county if not PA! Complimentary bread comes with good olive oil and dip the chef whips up that is out of this world because it's often compared to pizzeria , you may tend to think it's a bit pricey, but it's actually an Italian restaurant , a very good one And they even deliver

I've eaten here a bunch of times and it's alright. Not completely great but not actually bad, either. Lunch is your best bet because it's cheaper, and they run a crazy burger special (you can get beef, turkey, or veggie burgers) with about a zillion different toppings, fries, and a drink for $9.99. Dinners are okay. I personally like their pizza (it's improved a lot since they've opened) and their lasagna is meatless and has a sweet sauce and spice mixture that's really unique and tasty. The only thing is that their dinners are kind of overpriced. Also, their desserts are pretty awesome. The chef does come around to the tables to check on you, but I don't see why anyone would find that offensive like some of the reviewers on here. He's just being friendly and actually showing an interest in whether or not his customers are happy, which is rare in a world of chain restaurants. tldr: Dinners are kind of expensive and not fantastic; Lunch is definitely worth trying.

Tonight we tried something new, instead of our usual place - Dimeo's Pizza Kitchen. After reading the reviews, we thought we should still give it a shot bc of the menu. The menu looks great. However, the food was mediocre. Edible just not good. Pasta was over-cooked, almost mushy. The meatballs were bland, and calamari tasted like it was frozen. It was also really expensive! Not sure why the prices are so high. We will stick with Dimeo's.

It hurts me to only give this place two stars. The menu looks AMAZING. Build you own burgers... Beef, Turkey, Chicken, Tuna, or Veggie burger. Dozens of choices between sauces and toppings and breads. Unfortunately, the food does not live up to the hype. I've actually placed a little over $200 in orders there since yesterday (3 seperate orders at work) and not a single rave review. Mike M. got the Pizza Steak and I thought he was joking when he exclaimed how bad it was. He is distraught. Called it a "hunk of beef sandwich" which is the opposite of a fail in my book, but, it's not my food, so... Yesterday, I had a chicken caesar salad -- romaine, parmesan, thinly sliced chicken breast, TINY piece of bread, and Newman's Own Creamy Caesar Dressing. Um, Newman, this dressing is only slightly thicker than water. And while my dieting brain appreciates the lack of frills and bread, my mouth does not! I should have counted my blessings, though, because today's caesar salad didn't have any bread at all.

The service here is impeccable - though the surroundings are very spartan. We ordered the mussles, ravioli in a blush sauce and were happy with the quality and taste of the food. What really surprised us were the dipping sauces - very yummy! Definitely a nice neighborhood place to visit, when you don't feel like cooking!

While I hate to disagree with the honorable "Sexy Tits" user below this review, my two pick up experiences here bordered right around average. Piatto Grille didn't separate itself enough from the glut of Italian places clogged in the artery of Conshy/Lafayette Hill, but it's safe and reliable. There's not a ton you can say about average dishes, no easy way to expound on the virtues or drawbacks of boilerplate food. It's there, it'll suffice the moment, and you'll forget what ordered in a week. The fried fish sandwich wasn't the fish-sticks-on-a-hot dog-roll that I feared, and the crispiness of the beer-battered fish was surprisingly refreshing, but the generic Wawa hoagie roll and small nation of Thousand Island dressing made it unmemorable. The eggplant was fine, nicely breaded, but it spent too much time in the frying pan. Try the pizza. A lot of cheese and not enough sauce for my taste but the pepper and small amount of cheddar (maybe? It's orangish) give it a slightly different taste than most pizzas. A taste even "Sexy Tits" might appreciate.

Went to Piatto Grille for dinner tonight with friends. We love trying BYOBs and were excited to check out Piatto Grille as we heard good things. Well, the good things we heard must have been inaccurate or it was an off night. The setting was fine, the service was fine, the food was meh, and the prices were reasonable. We ordered three apps to start, the tomato basil salad lacked flavor, the fried eggplant bites were fine (once you fry something you can't really tell what you're eating anyway) and the best part of the bruschetta was the toasty bread (could have eaten just that) the tomato mixture was bland. We then got our entrees (I only tasted my own) which was a basic chicken parm. It was fine, nothing special. There was no parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top offered by the server or on the table and the dish needed it. I would have asked for it, but once the server put down the food, she went to check on other tables. The chef himself presented the dessert menu to us, which was a nice touch. We got two desserts to share--they were good. Usually at an Italian restaurant they put out a bread basket, there was not one--people come to expect that sort-of thing.

I feel bad for this place. I really do. I went with my fiancee and another couple last night and every bite of food I ate was lackluster. I sampled the entrees of two others just to make sure my dish and both apps were the only bad things. We were there for a couple hours on a Friday evening and were one of only 5 tables during this time. The nice "chef"/owner visits all the tables and I can't help but feel bad for the guy. The food he puts out is just not good. I'd bet this place won't be around much longer.

Have been frequenting this restaurant lately (due to my busy schedule) and find that it is as good as the reviews I have been hearing about and obviously not the ones written in here. We have had entree's such as veal parm, ravioli, spaghetti, mussels (awesome), and pizza's, sandwiches, salads and complimentary bread with two dipping sauces.. The chef does come out to the tables to check on you (make sure you have enough to drink and if the meals are o.k.) and that is a nice touch. We don't typically indulge in desserts.. We personally have NEVER had a bad meal there and have eaten there multiple times.. and I am afraid by saying this, that it may get busier.. in fact, I do have some diet restrictions and the chef has even made me meals (off the menu) that are gluten free and that taste great.. We tend to stay away on Friday and Saturday nights, as it is busier there.. (and we apply this thinking to many other restaurants).. Our experiences have usually been during the week.. Make sure you check the hours, because they are closed I think on Mondays???? We take our little kids with us (4 and 6).. and our big kids with us.. (in their 20's).. there is plenty to choose from on the menu for any palate, and it is reasonably priced.. They just started using level up there.. easy to pay.. and they recently are not partaking in restaurant.com specials.. not as good for us.. but I get why it may not be as appealing to the restaurants to participate in it.. Would def. recommend..

I think this place gets better and better over time, probably due to the owner always soliciting feedback from his customers and taking it into account. I love that it's a byo (I'm a wine snob and hate paying the mark-up on mediocre wine in restaurants). I'm not a huge fan of the atmosphere (it's way too bright for a nice dinner over a bottle of wine), but that can be fixed. I'm in love with their chicken florentine pizza.

Fantastic. Food is excellent, unique, and reasonably-priced - not sure what else you could ask for. The mussels are worth a trip all by themselves, as is the smoked red pepper spread for the bread. We will definitely be going back, as often as time (and waistlines) allow. Just to make it all that much better, they even deliver - and their delivery menu is worlds better than your usual Italian delivery restaurant. Just look at the available pizza toppings list... it's ridiculous, in a very good way.

I don't usually write reviews, but after reading the horrible reviews on here for Piatto Grille, I just have to put my two cents in. Obviously, the people that ate here never tried the mushroom ravioli. If they did, they would come back...over and over again. Can't beat it! Their tomato sauce that you dip the eggplant bites in is magnificent, and the bread that they bring out before the meal with their creative dips are yummy as well. I had some chicken there that wasn't done all the way, but I gave the poor guy a break because all the other stuff was soo good. Obviously, the reviewers below never tried the caramel tarte dessert as well, because they would be daydreaming about it day and night like I have been ever since I tried it. My boyfriend and I really hope this place does not go out of business...

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
