The steamed pork dumplings are the best!!

The place looks like it hasn't changed since 1980 and I'm okay with that, being an 80's child, it's like a walk down memory lane. Me and a friend went in on a Sunday night and this place was doing a steady stream of take-out business with what appeared to be regulars. The staff was very nice and we were seated right away. Food was okay. Egg rolls were good, was not a fan of the fried rice. Got the chicken with string beans and had them make it with the garlic sauce which was good. I agree with another user that they really lay the sauce on thick, it does over power the food a little bit. Dragon & The Phoenix is on Fayette and I think it's the better choice of the two.

I don't frequent Chinese restaurants but a friend of a friend worked here. We got our order mixed up a little but dessert was comped and we got a free meal. Not bad.

I lunched here with family awhile ago, and had quick service. We shared a few typical dishes, namely the fried rice and pork and vegetables. Cooking is solid and pretty run of the mill. Prices are good, with nary an entree exceeding $10 - for lunch, anyway, I don't know if they have a separate dinner menu? Golden Dragon has been around for quite a few years. During the day, the place gets lots of locals and workers from nearby offices. Parking's easy since they're right in the Plymouth Square Shopping Center. If you're in the area and want Chinese, check them out.

A decent Americanized Chinese place, if you like that kind of thing (and if you do, I'm sorry for you; it's the worst of both). Clean and friendly.. and the positives end here. Heavy sauce that kills the taste, hot&sour soup that tastes sweet, tea made by boiling an old shoe for twenty four hours. Not going to work for you if you ever tried authentic Chinese food. If you are on the road and looking for a quick bite, do yourself a favour and do a Panera instead. If you are looking for real Chinese food, try the Philadelphia Chinatown

Tonight I was out with my mom shopping for my cousin/her nephew's birthday gift when we decided to grab a bite to eat. Everything else in the shopping center was closed except for Golden Dragon, the chinese food place. I was a bit skeptical, I'll admit, since I had issues there when I went a few years back. However, my growling tummy insisted that we stop in for a bowl of Egg Drop Soup. It was just as comfortable as I remembered; very roomy and radio playing just loud enough to hear in the background. We were seated instantly and the soup was brought out barely 5 minutes after we ordered it! The soup was very light with scallions and minced onion mixed in to add a little bite. We were also served a pot of tea and noodles with duck sauce to munch on as well. 5 stars this time around because I enjoyed my fortune! ;)

So hard to find decent cheap Chinese food in Lafayette Hill area on a rainy night!! We ordered chicken and broccoli and also Mongolian beef. Two incredibly easy and standard dishes. Chicken was in too watery a sauce with no flavor. Beef wasn't spicy, filled with mostly onions, extremely bland. Egg rolls cooked way too dark. White rice was good though! 22 bucks not well spent.

Of all of the Chinese Restaurants in the area, I have ordered more food from Golden Dragon over the past 3 years than any other. The prices are reasonable, and the food is by far the best tasting and freshed I have had in the area unless you go up significantly in price. I definately recomend this place.

I wanted to love this place! With all the great reviews, I wanted to bite into something fantastic. Sadly though I was very disappointed. I've tried so many local Chinese places searching for great lo mien but after last night's veggie lo mien, I'm still searching! The flavor wasn't great and for it being veggie lo mien, there weren't a ton of veggies. And the chunky water chestnuts seemed like a cheap filler for an overpriced dish.

What is it with all the three stars?? I agree, this restaurant does have a quick turnaround time. BUT To me this place is expensive as heck. Which I find to be the case in suburban settings which makes me appreciate my urban settings so much more. Along with my chicken wings and iced tea which you can't get in the 'burbs....

We got take out from Golden Dragon tonight. We thought that, based on the other reviews, the food would be better than Win Wah, the place right up the street from us. Unfortunately we weren't wowed at all - in fact we were a little disappointed. We ordered Won Ton soup, Golden Dragon Mish Mash (considered a "specialty"!) and chicken chow mein. The prices were fair, and the portions were great. But everything was kind of bland. Maybe they are a low-sodium restaurant? We actually had to add salt and spices! Even the specialty dish was just mediocre. On the upside, none of it seemed as greasy as some other Chinese take out food we've had. All in all, a pretty average experience. The overall experience might be better in the restaurant itself.

Decent food & good portions. Spicy tofu is my fav.

Absolutely amazing food with unparalleled service. Family owned and operated which gives the restaurant a good feeling.

Golden Dragon is a good neighborhood Chinese joint. All the standard stuff, competently prepared. Friendly service and typical decor. A good choice if you don't expect more. Good for kids.

Ordered take out from here last night. Ordered a scallion pancake (a childhood favorite of my mine, sometimes called a Chinese Pizza), an eggroll, and General Tso's Chicken (my all time favorite Chinese food dish). The Scallion pancake was good, a little thick compared to others I've had in the past, but very tasty), the eggroll was also good. I like to eat my eggrolls with duck sauce and the spicy mustard though and the mustard was inedible as it had a bad smell and after taste. The General Tso's was inedible. It was hard and chewy. Each piece was like eating bark, I thought I was going to get a splinter. I would try this place again based on the two appetizers that I ordered, but will stay away from the General Tso's Chicken.

i've tried a couple fast-food chinese spots in the area and golden dragon definitely beats them all. the only downside is that they don't deliver. but you know they're good because most chinese places deliver, yet this one doesn't and every time you go in, there's a bunch of people waiting for their to-go orders at the front register. my favorite dish is the general tso chicken and the deep fried shrimp w/spicy sauce.

Somethings never change. I stepped into Golden Dragon 20 years later with my mom and it was exactly as I remembered. Same decor, same servers, same food as I remember. Been coming here since I was a little 5 year old girl. 5 stars for the nostalgia! Get the poo poo platter and a couple wonton soups. It's enough food to feed 2 and bring back leftovers. This place is the gold standard for shrimp toast and bbq spareribs!! Thanks Golden Dragon for not changing a thing.

Been coming for years & never thought to write a review!! Service has never been a problem and the food is great. They will customize your order for spice.

I used to love this place but the wait staff is just not nice. The food used to be amazing and now it's just gross. There is a way better place next to scoops on Fayette street

As part of my "Chinese Food Tour of the Bally/Barto/Boyertown Area"... We go to Golden Dragon as our De-Facto Chinese Take-Out these days because over the past couple of years it is the most consistent with food quality. If you look through my reviews of the local Chinese food, you'll see what try them all -- and we tend to like them all for one reason or another, but we only go back to the best. As far as "Local Take Out" - this is the best. We have had a variety of food from Golden Dragon, but the top fliers are their pork friend rice, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, moo shu pork and general tso's chicken. But -- overall -- I have to say that our number one, favorite dish is the Singapore Chow Mei Fun! It has just the right mix of spice and flavor -- plus reheats really nicely. Highly recommend this dish. A nice thing that they do is their new website ( goldendragonchineseresta… ) -- it lets you order and pay, right online and then pick up. I find it super convenient. Make sure you check out their coupons before you pay, though! Negatives - they always say "ten minutes" but it always take closer to a half-an-hour. I've had to stand and wait for my food on more than one occasion. Also, the chicken fried rice has been a little oily more than once, too.

Solid Chinese food restaurant. I've been on a search for a really good one in the area. Place is super quick. I walked in and ordered take out which they quoted for 10 minutes and it came quicker. Food was good. It's probably at the top of the list for Chinese restaurants in the area but I'm still looking for that top place. Also as a note there's a 2% fee for credit cards.

Terrible. Ordered take out and it was a waste of $$. General Tso's was tasteless and Mongolian Beef was a container full of onions and barely any beef. Complete disappointment, will not go back.

Do not eat here folks. My 8 year old daughter and I were turned away after we sat down. We wanted a light bite after her doctors appointment. They told us we had to order dinner. I explained I wanted to bring my daughter to a high school spot and we're still told we had to order dinner to be served. Tje place was completely empty too. It was dirty and smelled of mildew or dirty mops. Stay away

I dropped by for a quick lunch for an order of eggdrop soup and broccoli in brown sauce. The food was good, the service, fast and friendly and I wouldn't mind coming here again. It's definitely your standard Chinese restaurant, but considering other Chinese options in the area, this one is probably better than the rest.

Been going here for 20+ yrs and I've eaten allot if Chinese this place is consistently spot on!! Never a wait, friendly staff l, and always ready with the correct Order when I arrive for take out..

Got my standard General Tso's Chicken which I think is many people's go to Chinese American dish. Probably one of the best I've had. CHUNKS of chicken as opposed to other places that have too much breading. My only objection is that they put the saucy dish into a typical paper container which for me is a huge no no for this type of dish. Easily my favorite in the area by far!

I really enjoy Golden Dragon. It's like getting into a time machine (a Tardis, if you will) and traveling back to a chinese restaurant in the '80s. There is nothing modern about this place, and I applaud its shunning of modernity. The menus have the same red jackets that you might expect, there is a family menu where you can choose some from Column A and some from Column B, etc. The food here is definitely tasty. I recommend getting the eggroll; I actually think it's better than eggrolls at other establishments. The dumplings are also good. I particularly enjoy the staff here. The waitress who serves all of the food to the tables brings it out on a little push cart, and loves to chat with you. There aren't many options for chinese in the Lafayette Hill area, and of the choices, Golden Dragon is definitely one of the better choices.

I have been a loyal patron for what... 28 years or so, since the day they opened. NEVER disappointed. Through the years, in all my travels, I have NEVER encountered a Chinese place comparable. Whenever I'm in the Conshy area, I always stop here...at the very least, pick up some egg rolls as they are the best EVER! I always get an extra one for the morning for breakfast, something my sister and I started years ago. Eat it cold, dipped in duck sauce first thing in the AM, it's the breakfast of champions! haha :) Recommend the PuPu Platter, Chicken Lo Mein, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Won Ton Egg Drop mix, Egg Rolls and Teriyaki Beef Sticks! THE BEST!!! I love you Golden Dragon!

This restaurant has been around for ages and has a group of loyal patrons, for good reason. The food is moderately priced and decent. Most of the dishes are Americanized Chinese food but much less greasy than the fare found at your typical take-out place. I usually end up getting the moo shu chicken, chicken lo mein, or seafood wor bar. I also love the complimentary wonton strips with duck sauce. Service is great. The owners are very sweet and the food is out in less than 8 min, usually. They also have brown rice for those of us who need more whole grains (including me...yes doc, I AM trying).

Golden dragon is an amazing place for Chinese food. First off, this place is BYOB which is awesome because it's a money saver. Their Singapore rice noodles are to die for (I have tried many at various Chinese restaurants and none have compared). Try the general Tso's chicken which is really delicious, the Hunan scallops are amazing and bursting with flavor. And last but not least ... They have the most amazing egg rolls anywhere- trust me I have had tons if egg rolls! Staff is sweet and friendly, prices are more than fair and this is definitely a place you will visit over and over again each time you have a Chinese food craving!

Just moved so I'm trying out Chinese Restaurants around my area. Alot smaller than it looks on the outside but nice and homey on the inside. The food is not the best out there but far from bad. Everything came out quick as hell and hot so that is a major plus. The only negative thing is you can't specialize your order. If you dont want carrots you better just pick them out yourself. Small thing but I don't like carrots!

Ordered chicken with orange and chicken with cashew nuts, and both had too much sauce for my tastes. The texture was more of a stew served in a bowl than a plate. I personally prefer less saucy, drier entrees. I will probably not eat here again. Thus far, the best Chinese-style food I've found in the area is Lai Lai Garden, in the Blue Bell area.

Excellent service. They truly understand the Conshohocken lunch crowd. I ordered the Chicken lo mein lunch special which was fantastic. I've found some Chinese restaurants tend to over cook this entrée, in a dry and crunchy outcome. But this was perfect! The wonton soup was good, and I had a bite of their spring rolls, also very good. Excellent server and peaceful atmosphere, I will definitely come back here to try other menu items!!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
