I'll give two stars provisionally hoping that my second visit may be better than my first. I always give a restaurant second try in case they were having an "off" night although, for someone who loves Thai food the way I do and my proximity to the restaurant, I would think I would have returned by now. While the Tom Yum soup was good, my traditional Pad Thai could only be summed up as "sugary." I know the recipe calls for a bit of sweetening but this tasted almost like a quarter cup of brown sugar had been added. Subsequently, it overpowered all other flavors made for a syrupy mound of gluten and saccharides that was quite forgettable. I'll return one of these days but I'm not in a rush.

This place is amazing, service is always top notch and food is consistently great. The staff are very friendly and always on top of things. The Drunken Noodles, extra spicey, are the best, but they do not make anything that is bad.
The service is very good and the restaurant is nicely decoration. Those were the highlights. The buddha dumplings were more dough than vegetables. The pad thai very good but my partner's dish (can't remember the nam) had a broth that did not taste quite right. I may try again since it may have been just a bad day for the chef.

Some friends of ours recommended this place and said they thought it was better than a Thai place in Phoenixville that we took them to. At the end of the day, my friends were right. Stopped in here for dinner with my folks and came out full and very satisfied with our meal. My Mom was born in Indonesia and cooks some of this type of food, and she was happy that I introduced her to this place. We started off with the calamari and the chicken satay. I still prefer my Mom's peanut sauce that she makes, but theirs was pretty good as well. The chicken was tender and we scarfed this appetizer down pretty quick. The lightly fried calamari was equally delicious. My Dad and I went with the Thai Basil in chicken (lightly fried) and we both loves the taste of it, especially the sweet soy sauce it was in. My Mom went with the Thai Ginger in chicken which I tried. It was good, but I thought my meal had more flavor to it. They have dishes with varying degrees of hotness, so if you like your mouth on fire, I'm sure they can accommodate. Presentation of the food was quite nice and service was good. Our waitress even chatted with us for a bit once she found out my Mom was born in Indonesia. I'm generally not a big fan of curry, but she told us theirs is different than the typical curry, so I will likely give it a try next time. They are open for lunch and dinner and also offer take-out. Prices were reasonable and definitely cheaper than the place in Phoenixville. Can't wait to go back.

I'm so glad I gave this place a try. We had the Drunken Noodle and Basil Beef. Both dishes were so amazing! I will definitely come back for more. Highly recommended!

This place is a hidden gem. I had the Thai fried dumplings as an appetizer the dumplings are stuffed with ground pork and they were delicious. Cooked to perfection and served with a blended soy sauce to die for. My main course was Khao Phat with Shrimp. This is fried jasmine rice with shrimp and vegetables. This dish was very tasty. I recommend this place if you want to experience friendly service and delicious food. Oh and it's also a BYOB so don't forget to bring your favorite bottle of wine!

Solid. They have Pho and it's not on the menu and it's really good. The green curry is good. THe Duck dishes are good.

Not enough great things to say about Thai Basil! The beef Pho was scrumptious and our waitress Chi (sp?) was a dear. She gifted us with a treat of her homemade taro ice cream, which I never would have ordered, but wouldn't hesitate to now! A gem right around the corner from us...so thrilled!

Amazing authentic Thai food. My husband and I frequent Thai Basil and there is nothing we didn't like. The chicken pad thai and ginger chicken are my all time favorites! And don't leave without trying thier homemade ice cream.

For the area it's pretty good. When in the suburbs without a large ethnic population of the food from which a restaurant originates, I tend to stick with the things that are more commonly ordered instead of devitating to try new things because these are the things done often and usually done well. That being said, it seems to be a family run restaurant and it was pretty good. Lunch special with appetizer, soup, and main course for $10.50?! Awesome I went with the Tom Kha Kai? soup which could've used a bit more coconut flavor, but was otherwise pretty good. Some golden triangles appetizer which was basically deep fried tofu squares in some duck sauce w/ peanuts thrown in, still good. And for the main dish I had pad thai. I'm not sure if it was good pad thai, it was definitely pretty good noodles, but not sure how close it was in terms of pad thai flavors.

Tried Thai Basic Bistro on a strong recommendation from my sister-in-law. The restaurant did not disappoint. Had lunch here and enjoyed everything. They have a lunch special that is hard to beat - $10.99 for soup, half portion appetizer and entree. All the food had good flavor and the vegetables in the soup and entree were extraordinarily fresh looking and tasting. Dishes may be non-spicy or marked with 2 levels of spicy heat; hot or very hot and spicy yet bearable. My dish was the latter and the description is right on. It was pretty hot but no so much that I broke a sweat and my nose started running. The standout was the appetizer, Tulip dumplings. They were amazing. Service was pleasant and attentive and the pacing of the meal was perfect. The interior of the restaurant has an Asian feel that is very warm and inviting and is uncharacteristically lacking in gaudy accoutrements. The ceiling tiles painted to look like the sky is a nice touch. A great option if you're tired of the ubiquitous cookie cutter formula Asian restaurants with identical menus that inhabit nearly every strip mall.

I have been lamenting the lack of a good Thai restaurant near my house for those nights when nothing but spicy will do. Last night I found it at Thai Basil. Tucked away into a little strip next to the larger Redner's Shopping Center, this little gem is a real find. The staff is very nice, helpful but not pesty, and the food....ohhhhh the food. I'm a fan of hotter Thai, and their drunken noodle did not disappoint. Just enough heat to keep my water glass filled. I started with tom yum kai soup, which is just heaven. Nice and sour, with a good portion of chicken and other veggies--so good. It'd be just the thing on a chilly fall/winter night or the perfect "I'm sick" soup. A definite winner for sure! Edited to add: I took a friend there last week for her first visit and she raved about it too! The owner came over and gave us a walk through the menu, told us about other options they have and was just really friendly. Again, not pesty but engaging enough to make me want to come back with more friends. I see myself becoming a regular there very quickly. My friend reported that she too has since shared this gem with a buddy who proclaimed it fabulous on all fronts. HIGHLY recommended.

Great inexpensive BYOB. I went with a friend and we shared Thai Wontons, drunken noodles and Green Curry with shrimp. All were great. I will probably go back. I hope it survives it was empty when we were there. It was a tuesday night but still.

Gave it another shot...worse the second time around. There was actually a BUG in a dipping sauce they gave us and when we told them they didn't even apologize or admit fault for not being careful. I think this place has a bad fly infestation and that's why they keep the lights on so dim. After leaving my arms were itching from bugs bites. I wouldn't come back for bugs in the air and in your food.

I went for takeout during the week. It was the first time that I had tried the place, and I got the drunken noodles w/ shrimp. The noodles and sauce were almost tasteless and it was not spicy. For a dish that should be a no brainer for a Thai restaurant, it was very unimpressive. For the price and the quality, I would not recommend the Thai Basil Bistro.

Have been going to this place for couple of months for lunch. The only Thai place in Collegeville and it's pretty good. I usually get the lunch special with Tulip Dumplings or Chicken Satay, Tom Yum Goong and house fried rice. The food is excellent and ALWAYS consistent. Service is pretty fast. Definitely recommended for Thai food lovers!

Been here a couple times. The first was for dinner a few weeks after they opened and it was hit and miss. The special of lamb they had was not properly cooked (parts were raw vs medium rare) and the service was slow. A few months later I went for lunch and things looked to be better. However, it did not blow my socks off and given 3 other better Thai places in a 5 mile radius, I am giving it 3 stars until I notice markable improvement.

I ordered the house special orange sesame chicken and it was fantastic. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the veggies were par-steamed just right, and the sauce was a great balance of sweet & spicy without being a syrup. The garnish was professionally done. I was impressed by the waitress' ability to explain the spiciness of each dish and my dish came out at the exact level of spicy that I described to her. I also tasted the scallop curry - also on the house specials, and it was amazing - creamy, spicy, and scallops steamed perfectly. I can't wait to return to try other dishes.

Opened in August of 2009. It is located in the Redner's shopping center. Pleasant atmosphere. I was there for dinner on a Monday night. It was not crowded, but the front door was busy with take out orders. BYOB. The have Evil Jungle Princess! And it is excellent! They also have the best Tom Yum soup. It is a little sweeter than I am use to, but it is very nice change. Check the place out!

I have to lower my rating because of an unpleasant visit. I stopped in with my son a week or two ago and were were greeted by a very ill mannered man. The restaurant was nearly empty with plenty of tables set but he told us to wait and then disappeared for a good five minutes. I decided that we were not interested in eating there after the hostile greeting so we left and went to Tortugas.

We love this local Thai BYO. The owners are warm and welcoming, and the food had never disappointed us. We like spicy, and they go all out to satsfy our tastes. The seafood is always fresh, the duck and chicken are flavorful, and the dressing on the cucumber salad is yummy. We recommend checking the specials for new and interesting offerings.

What can I say - impressive! To start : the appetizer egg rolls were cooked perfectly with hardly no grease. They were smaller sizes and cut in half for you so not overly hot when served. The shrimp pho was phenomenal. Good sized shrimp and they provide Freshly cut jalapeños with it. We also had shrimp pad Thai (extra spicey) and we literally ate it within ten minutes it was so good we couldn't put it down. The iced tea they served with cream is almost a dessert itself and to top off our WONDERFUL experience - the sweet lady server "Chee" pronounced, gave us a bowl of their purple potato ice cream that was beyond unique and tasty. Don't miss out check it out. In my opinion, arguably the best place outside the City of Philadelphia.

Nope, nope, nope. Nope. Let's just say the only good thing I can think of is that the employee was very nice. Dropped by order take out on a Wednesday for lunch. I ordered shrimp pad Thai and spring rolls. The order was over $15, for one thing. Secondly, there were three - 1, 2, 3 - shrimp total. Tiny little fellas (I know, I know, shrimp...), and 10 huge pieces of tofu. Also, a lemon wedge. What?

One of the very few times Yelp has let me down. The food was sub-par over priced and from I can tell from having an Asian market right around the corner that the majority of the food was from frozen as I can buy the same food in my local markets freezer so shame on you for that. How ever it was the fact that my appetizer was still frozen in the middle confirmed this fact so I ordered the shrimp tulips and they were very familiar to me cause I have bought them at my local markets freezer section. The drunken noodles were the only thing I would possible go back for but when I asked for it to be extra, extra hot and it came needing to go back (which I didn't request) I just boxed it up and doctored it up at home. My fiancé said her Chicken Pad Thai was fine but was too spicy hot so I can only assume there was some kind of communication break down between the cooks and the waitress... anyhow give them a try maybe you will like it more or have a better experience than me... and for all of you that gives them a 5 star you need to try a place in Conshohocken I don't want to plug there name in fear of loosing creditability on this post but they have the best drunken noodles I have ever ate expensive but worth it...
