Double Berry Banana Pancake Breakfast (2 units) – Only 1 unit recommended.
I was traveling along I-80 and decided to stay overnight at Clearfield. When I asked the person working in my hotel where to find some good beer, he recommended this place. It was only 3-star on yelp and I was a little worried initially, but my experience was pretty enjoyable. The beer menu was wonderful. Most beers on tap were the kind of great beers scored over 90 on BeerAdvocate. The price may be a little high but was reasonable with respect to the quality. I got a 16oz pint of double IPA for $8, a 16oz imperial IPA for $7, and my wife got a 16oz imperial stout for $5. I also loved their french fries. The cheese curd was a bit firm/hard and I think it should be fried a little more. I have no complaint but some improvements could make this place perfect. The beer menu does not include the prices, which makes it a little inconvenient if you want to keep your budget in front of those nice beers. They seemed to brew their own beer; some commercial outside of the store seemed to suggest that. But when I asked my waitress whether I can have some local beer which I may not be able to have elsewhere, she said no.

Summary: Blah food. Terrible service. 'Eclectic' atmosphere. = We won't make it a point to come back. Context: Arrived before dinner, no wait to be seated. The restaurant was fairly full, but not overly busy. The atmosphere was loud, but it's a pub, so that's to be expected. Pros: decent drink selection, cool choice of meats for meat-eaters, food is not bad, has potential, I suppose. Cons: - Time to be waited on: 25 minutes (+ by waited on, I mean even acknowledged by wait staff. At all.) Another 5 minutes to be served drinks (4 waters + bottle of beer). - As far as my own choice of burger goes I have to say this... Most burger places are actually fairly accommodating, believe it or not, for vegetarians. There is usually an option to switch out a meat patty for a vegetarian patty (sometimes at extra cost, which is fine, I suppose). After looking over the menu, + realizing they had one bland option for a veggie burger. They do have a Build Your Own. This is usually quite time consuming, so at most burger joints, I just stick with a menu burger and swap out the patty. I was planning to do so, but realized the note at the top of the menu that said "No changes, amendments, or substitutions on any sandwiches or burgers." WHAT? You're not allowed to change anything?? I thought that was a little odd, but decided to ask our waitress anyway, since it was just a patty swap. She instead flipped the page in my menu and began to explain the Build Your Own option to me in a fervent and exasperated manner. Sorry, but just because I'm a vegetarian doesn't mean I can't read. Her manner was rude, rushed, and made me feel inadequate. (Let me say, I can understand if the staff is in a rush, but it was really not that busy at the time. They had time to sweep the floors....) Instead of trying to play chef for a simple sandwich, I opted for a side of fries and nothing else. At this point, I was irritated enough that I didn't want to support this restaurant with much money. If we hadn't spent so much time and effort already to get to this point, we probably would have already left. ( keep in mind this was about 40 minutes in ) (Note: I get that my choice isn't super popular in the area, but there are people that cannot eat meat for medical reasons. I'm not asking for a golden treatment, but a little respect would be nice. And in my opinion, there's not really a need to have a no-sub rule. But if you're going to have that, train your staff to handle questions about it in a respectful, helpful, and understanding manner.) - The actual turn-around time from ordering to food on the table was not long! - We had multiple mistakes in our order (wrong burger brought to table, completely wrong sandwich sent to kitchen) with no apology + a big stink when we mentioned it. - We had to ask for silverware when it was clearly needed. We had to ask for a glass for the bottle of beer. We had to ask for refills on water. - We had to ask for the bill. Took over 10 minutes to take the check+card to "close out" while waitresses swept the floor next to our table. - While we were waiting, we noticed another table that had the wrong order as well. Again met with confusion and no apology that I heard of. Suggestions: I feel as though this establishment would do well revamping their menu. I would suggest to have fewer burgers on the menu, but put more emphasis on flavor profiles in each burger. Quantity over quality. It would be easier for the wait staff, the kitchen, and the customer. Make some signature burgers! Train that staff! Decent food with good service? I'll be back. Decent food with bad service (like our experience here)? See ya never. Sorry, Denny's, but you didn't meet my standards.

This location has a lot of positive things going for it. First, it's unique in Clearfield. Had it been established in a larger city, the other Gastropubs would have blown it out of the water. Second, it's large and can accommodate a lot of people. Third, the selections on the menu have something for everyone. The menu may take a bit of time to read. Things I would change: 1. The waitress did not have complete knowledge of the draft list, nor did she know what styles the beers were when asked. If you're going to boast crafts, your servers need to be educated. It's a competitive world out there now. Also, when a draft kicks, tell the servers via a white board or something. The back and forth was exhausting for everyone. 2. I wasn't asked what temperature my burger should be. You're a burger joint. This is really important. 3. The wings were absolutely swimming in sauce, and it was really sweet for a savory sauce. 4. Chips. When I was told the burger is served with chips, I automatically thought "pub chips", which are usually house made real potato chips with some awesome spice. These chips were like Snyder's BBQ. This is one area that could really up the game. 5. Waitress training in general. We asked a waitress what dessert people went there for. She could have said anything. Anything, and I would have believed her. Instead, she said people don't really come here for desserts. Yikes! 101: all of your products are amazing. Pick something. I'm all for Gastropubs opening in the smaller towns, and I applaud these owners for what they have begun.

Big build up that didn't deliver. Was in the area so I figured I'd stop here since it was on TV. That's the problem there. TV shows need to make episodes so they build a place up to be more than it is. Got burgers and wings and both regular and sweet potato fries. The regular cheese burger was ok to below average. My nephew got a black and blue and couldn't eat half it was so bad. The regular fires were ok, nothing special, but the sweet potato fries were inedible. The honey wings were ok. It would all just be what you'd expect from a road side bar stop but the hype makes you expect more. I got it to go but people were waiting around to sit and eat inside. Feel bad for them. If you expect just low standard bar food you won't be disappointed but don't expect a really good burger to remember.

This place is best known for their huge burgers and their burger challenges. They've been featured on various television shows for their burgers. However, the reality is that they have a huge menu with mediocre food. On a recent trip into town a friend and I stopped in for an early dinner. The menu is huge and there are no substations allowed. There are NO gluten free options allowed unless you want plain veggies. Really disappointing when there are ten pages of food choices but not one includes a gluten free option. The beer on tap was pretty impressive. No gluten free beer in bottles or on tap. Local wines featured which is pretty cool but they are not that great. The merlot was actually very sour. The service was decent after we were eventually seated. Definitely a tourist trap!

This is a hidden gem off interstate 80 if you like bar food and beer. Wide selection of burgers and beers as well as a large assortment of sandwiches. My husband had the Carolina brisket sandwich and I had the Asian pulled pork sliders. Both were great. After a long day of driving we felt comfortable in this casual atmosphere.

Stopped here on the way home. (Missouri to NEPA) always looking for different place to eat besides fast food chain places. Burgers were big and good..if you like greasy burgers. Atmosphere fun bar like. Service so so but nothing rude or neglect. Beer selection good. I had the house beer and hubby had a couple of craft brews.

Decent food, very good beer, fun knotty pine decor. Given the competition around here, I don't get the negative reviews. We're on a road trip and a place like this off the highway is a rare gem.

Not gonna lie, I was pumped to come and try this place out, but as far as normal sized burgers go, they were just OK. I got the 8oz dill burger and it was way over cooked (they didn't ask how I'd like it cooked, either.) I ended up just having a few bites and eating the pickle chips instead. Overall, might be fun for burger challenges but I'd pass on a long ride (we came from RI) just for this.

DBBP is a great spot in Clearfield for all sorts of good food, especially burgers! We stop in here every couple of weeks for a burger and a beer. They have a good selection of craft beers and they are very reasonably priced. There burgers live up to all the hype. They have tons of different kinds. I try to get a new burger every time, and so far, they've all been amazing. The rest of their food has been great too from what I've seen and "borrowed" off of friends' plates. *WATER ALERT* The only thing I've noticed that is a bit off is how they will not give you a glass of water, but instead try to charge you for it. When you ask for water, they tell you they only have bottled water and is that ok? My friend said no, he would not pay for water. He explained that they clearly have cups, ice, and running water, and again requested a glass of water. They waitress refused, so he went out to his car and brought in his own bottle. She then told him he could not bring the bottle in because it could be vodka. He explained to the waitress that he was going to have a drink of water one way or the other, even if he had to go to the bathroom and fill his own glass out of the faucet. She then agreed to get him a glass of water. The fact that we have to repeat this every time we return, just to get a glass of water, is a bit ridiculous, but it's not enough to keep us away.

This is Central Pennsylvanian food and fun at its best. The place is huge! We ordered a small wing appetizer that was amazing. The wings were meaty and the buffalo hot sauce was one of the tastiest I've had. But I've been saving myself for the burgers which are legendary. I ordered the elk burger which was fantastic. One thing fir all you picky eaters- the menu clearly says that they do not want you to make substitutions. It's best to order off the menu. While they will make some customizations. They really prefer not to.

Went to Denny's based on the recommendation of the front desk gal who very quickly prefaced it with it's not your ordinary Denny's rather it's locally owned and has appeared on various food and travel shows. Besides it was the only place opened at this late hour. We were very pleasantly surprised. Even though they had started cleaning we were warmly welcome to take a seat and order whatever we wanted. My colleague ordered steak. I had a rowdy reuben burger. It was great with a healthy portion. They also had a wide selection of other pub grub as well as some huge gastronomic belly busters The beer list was equally awesome. I had a tasty pint of southwick draft. All in all a memorable experience. Would definitely return next business trip.

Elk burger is excellent. The lady at the bar name Ding is awesome and very friendly. Didn't see anyone try the challenge burger. This place highly recommended if you in Clearfield or Dubois.

Denny's is a place I did after knowing I would be in Clearfield PA for one night, and hoping to find a halfway decent place. We were not disappointed. Their menu is over ten pages long, however, I recommend for the main course you go with a burger. With two pages of choices, you can find what you wish, no problem. Also, they offer numerous burger challenges, so depending on your capabilities, you can find the one-if you wish (We didnt) to try. The wings for our appetizer were better than the ones we ordered next day in Buffalo, with a tangy sauce. Atmosphere ok, and their nachos were so-so, but overall, a great, fun place to hit if you are in the area.

Highly recommended but it was just average at best. My wife's margarita was terrible my steak was full of gristle. Pass this over hyped place and go somewhere else

As a local, I've been to Denny's many times. Each experience ends with utter disappointment. They don't do "special orders" which means don't even ask for no onion on a burger. Special orders only slow them down and the goal seems to be burgers all made to their specifications. Want it medium? Tough. You'll get it how they want to serve it. The only reason this place still exists is based on the lore of the large burger and the fact that ownership actively works to keep competition out of town. That's why you'll see no other sit-down chains in town outside of Dutch Pantry. It's very "blah" on a lot of fronts, this place.

First let me say that they have a pretty great beer selection and given the location it's a great place to stop if you're traveling across I80 for a bit. Some good craft beers on tap. The menu is huge and there is plenty to choose from. Especially if you want a burger. Overall though I thought the burger was pretty in keeping with other reviews - lacking real flavor and way over cooked. I ordered medium and it was over well done. Meh. My boyfriend on the other hand had a turkey burger that was flavorful and juicy. Pretty easy stop for lunch if you're in the road but the burger really isn't much to rave about.

Here's the rundown: Service: friendly, professional, effective and timely Atmosphere: very nice decor, lots to look at. Cleanliness: fair at best Check times/pace of meal: great Beer selection: very good to great Bartenders: n/a. Did not try drinks......beer only. Menu: very large but way too many rules and restrictions. When I go to a restaurant, I like to be served what I like, not what I'm told I have to eat. I understand not being able to make modifications in particular situations but these guys don't let you do it at all. Simply stupid and down right lazy. Probably pretty hard to eat here if you have food allergies. It gives the impression that Dbbp doesn't care if your happy with your food, just as long as your paying for it. Food: simply put.......really not that good. A lot of hype got me in the door, but the food was down right terrible. Had boneless wings/2 styles both were unconventional and just poorly done. Had two salads/ steak salad and buffalo chicken salad. The steak was ok but the buffalo chicken was the worse I've had in my life. I tried to force myself to eat it and couldn't. Both of us felt a little sick for the rest of the evening. Price: menu pricing was pretty good actually. If the food was better and if it wasn't the end of the world if I asked for no onions etc, I'd come back. A lot of good things going on in this place but unfortunately the bad out weighs the good. The bad being honestly crappy food and an unwillingness to make simple and easy modifications to what you order. I would not go out of my way to return. Very disappointed in the quality and taste of the food. Especially for all the hype. And again I have a real problem with not being able to alter anything on the menu. I don't usually make modifications but if I took my mom or sister out to eat there etc they wouldn't be able to eat much on the menu. What's the point of having such a big menu if you can't hold the onion or the pickle or the tomato etc. that's really a shame in the food SERVICE industry. It's not about you Denny's beer barrel and pub. It's about the guests that patronize your business. Haha. Pet peeve I suppose.

I loved this place. The service was on point. The waitress was amazing and knowledgeable of everything they had on the menu. The bartender explained a drink to my friend. And the price was on point for what we ordered. So what if you have to pay for a bottle of water. So if your not a princess and are ready to eat some good food then this is the spot for you!!!!!

This is an interesting dining option in a place that doesn't have many choices. We stopped off here for a night while traveling to Niagara Falls. We had noticed this place on Yelp and our Hotel receptionist also recommended eating here. We arrived a little late, so there wasn't really an crowd (as other people had noted). I think this helped with our server as she didn't seem like she could handle more than the two tables in her section. With the small crowd, she was able to hold her own, though I still wouldn't call the service great. The menu has a bit of focus on the larger burger options that you see in eating contests. We weren't really looking for burgers, so we asked for a recommendation. The server said the wings were good, so we were locked in. We were going to stop in buffalo, for wings, the next day and decided to go with a different sauce. The Coaches Sauce, caught our eye and were weren't disappointed. It was sweet, but with slight tangyness that provided a slight bite. If you find yourself in Clearfield, this place is worth a try.

I can't say it more emphatically, this place sucks, do not stop there. I went there based on seeing the reviews from the food network and we were on our way to Michigan. We were looking for a quick stop for lunch and the place looked inviting. We were seated quickly and as other people said, they do not serve complementary water. I have been at 5 star rated restaurants and you get free water, sparkling no less. I should have walked out as soon as they said this. $2.00 for bottled water that they paid $.11 for?????? We put in our order for two burgers and an order of onion rings. We were offered to have the onion rings served as an appetizer, what a mistake. The onion rings came out in about 10 minutes, and then the wait began for the burgers. 30 Minutes later we got the burgers, they were charred to death on the outside, the worst burgers I ever had. I am utterly perplexed by the 4 and 5 star ratings. One can get a better burger, cheaper and faster at Burger King and their Onion Rings are better. I complained to the waitress about the wait and she brought out the printout from the order and we were told that onion rings delayed the delivery of the burgers, what...... there were hardly any people in the restaurant, maybe 12 people. We had to wait 30 minutes for the burgers after we got the onion rings. And to top it off, the manager would not even come out and talk to us. Needless to say, no tip for that waitress and I will never stop here again.... AVOID THIS PLACE. . . . . .

Took my parents, 64 & 70 years old. The wait staff was immediately rude and stuck us in a dark corner where we couldn't read the menus it was so dark. Then when my extremely kind mother asked to move, we got more attitude. It did not improve as the experience played out. Waitress was not very accommodating to our needs, my mom tried to get something in her order different and it caused a mighty stir. Apparently you get what they give you and you cannot change anything! Orders came back wrong and it was sad to see the waitress quite a bit younger than my mom or dad, treat their elders in such a way. Food was forgettable and will never return to this overpriced bar food joint again. A bunch of hype over some back woods folk eating burgers as big as their heads! Hopefully your establishment will find some waitstaff with a little bit of dignity and self respect for their patrons.

Kept hearing about the burger challenge and had to check this place out. We didn't read any of the yelp reviews until we were already sitting at our table. And sure glad we didn't. We may have not come. Out on a Sunday drive we decided to make the trip to Clearfield for an early dinner. First impression upon driving up was that it looked woodsy and like a cool place. Went in the bar entrance, we had our 11 year old twin boys with us. We were seated right away buy a very friendly young man. Every table we could see was full, including the bar area and our waitress showed up fast. I asked for water and she said it was bottled, so I decided on a beer from their vast selection. After reading all the reviews with people complaining about only having bottled water, I figured there must be a reason, so I asked the waitress if something was wrong with the water. She said it was not tasty for drinking and that is why they only offer bottled, but, if I really wanted the tap water, she would give me a glass. I declined. The food was all fantastic, and even though it comes exactly like it is on the menu, even my 11 year old was fine with pulling off the onions. It's not a place you go out to eat every day, because, who can afford that anywhere? But as a nice treat, this place was great. The food was great, the beer was great, the service was great, and the walls are packed with interesting things to look at. Pay no attention to the 1 stars. Definitely a 5 star establishment for Clearfiled!

We thought this place would be good but the Service was horrible, and the food was worse. The burgers were unedible as they were so over done they were as hard as hockey pucks. The waitress didnt want to be there, was rude, unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. 7 of us stopped there a few years back and I still remember it as a complete waste of money. It was pricey and the food was terrible. EG: if you ask for water with your meal, you have to pay for bottled water: $2-4 Etc... dont waste your time or money. horrible. worst experience ever. hockey puck over burned charcol for burgers and RUDE service

Thoroughly unimpressed. The place itself is very nice, service was good, but the burger was not impressive at all. I ordered the: PENNSYLVANIA BEER BARREL BURGER 1/2 lb. ground beef, seasoned in beer with other spices, topped with beer-braised onions and grilled mushrooms, two crisp strips of bacon and Swiss cheese............................................Â................$ 5.99 I asked for the burger to be cooked medium and was told that all burgers are prepared medium well. My burger was a small, dry, flattened, well done piece of meat, lost on an over sized kaiser roll. The toppings were scarce, very scarce. They didn't even melt the cheese! The wings were very good, as was the list of beer on tap. But I think a burger place, above all, should put out a good burger. I give Denny's a 2-Star rating because it is after all, a burger place.

I'll admit that I'm torn about writing this review. On one hand, the place is charming, and on the other hand it's rigid in its rules and a bit pricy. If I'm being honest, Clearfield is mostly an impoverished area where people struggle to get by. However, rolling hills, lots of green space, and a historic downtown feel make it feel like a place you wouldn't mind visiting again. Denny's is the town's claim to fame (see Wikipedia if you don't believe me) and quite the tourist attraction. A gal that lives in the area remarked to me that "locals never eat there". So I was a bit surprised when at 2:30 in the afternoon we had to wait 15 minutes for our table. So, is Clearfield teaming with tourists? I think not. I'm guessing a good percentage of locals do enjoy this local eatery. The place is a collection of rooms added on. You can tell it's been pieced together during times business has thrived. This adds to its charming appeal in my opinion though. You know a restaurant is an attraction when they display a collection of t-shirts on the wall. The waitress was kind of glum and not all that helpful if I'm being honest. She did force a smile occasionally. I remarked to my girlfriend that the waitress seemed bummed out, and she said "People are miserable in this town". As a former resident, I took her word for it. I was more than a little surprised when my request to keep onions off of my burger was denied. Really, the cooks can't manage to keep onions off my sandwich? All menu items are served as they are described in the menu...no exceptions. I did "upgrade" to sweet potato fries for a dollar and change. For an appetizer we got wings with "suicidal" sauce. They were really good and not all that suicidal, but I could easily forgive them for that. The sandwich came out, and I was happy with my decision. It was a bit overcooked, but hey, they overcook everything in this part of the country. What did I expect? The sweet potato fries were absolutely perfect and well worth the additional cost. I would highly recommend them if you like sweep potatoes. All in all, it was a good experience, and I'm glad I can check the place off my bucket list. I would recommend it if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

From Chicago randomly ran into this place while in clearfield. They have a great beer list , everyone loved the food, and as far as the choices for places around, this is the best as far as I'm concerned. My dad tried the burger challenge and failed.

Overrated. I had to get bottled water instead of tap with no explanation ($1.45), um okay. My boyfriend ordered a special burger and the special fries that included an upcharge, which was fine. We were then told that the special fries were a modification and the menu made it abundantly clear that nothing could be modified (even though you could build your own burger, salad or wrap). How is putting different fries on a plate, that we're paying for, a modification?! If the food was great I wouldn't even care about any of this but it was generic bar food. Staff was very nice, feel bad for them that they have to deliver the news of the inane policies.

Well the first walk in was rough as I had to get a guy to move a bit from his seat at his table to get in. Sat at the bar. I like to do that as I own a bar and grill and like to talk and converse. The very pretty girl washing the front door was by far the best server. She was friendly and sassy all at the same time. Made me want to stick around all night. The three others bartenders behind the bar were too busy so door girl hooked me up. She was funnier and once again made me feel welcome. I ordered her wing choice and her burger choice. The boneless wings were flavorful but they were the pre battered wings that were fried and placed on a plate. They were smothered in sauce. They could have been equally as good just tosses in the sauce and plated. Or maybe get a wing that has less breading. Or maybe bread yourself. Not much chicken per se in those. But the sauces were awesome. I ordered a burger and was disappointed. It clearly says they won't cook med rare but their version of medium is more med well or even well. The burger was dry. It's too bad cause their New Orleans rub was tasty. But by the time I got the burger the only thing to save the meat wa ketchup and I refuse that with black and blue. All in all I was mostly impressed. A good lineup of craft beers and it appeared they clean the lines on a regular basis, providing good tap beer. I just think the proper cooking of the meat would have saved my meal. And like others said, be proud of your specialty burger toppings but allow for some substitutions. Especially since you offer a build a burger option. Prost!

This weekend, I went to visit some friends in Western PA, and on our way home from the Ridgway "Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous" - we thought we better take a pit stop at Denny's. This place is known for their "World's Largest Hamburgers" so I simply could not pass up this opportunity to chow down on such famous patties! The waiting area is literally one long line - no "take a number / take a buzzer" type of service. The tables and chairs are hard wood, nothing fancy. Know how to tell when you're in Western PA? The tables were laminated and full of advertisements about fracking equipment and services! Hel-lo Marcellus country! I heard about the options here: 2 pounder, 3 pounder, etc. and 15-pounder. I thought we should give the 15-pounder a whirl... just for the heck of it, right?. Little was I wrong. Instead, two of us split half of the 2-pounder and we were stuffed! Oh- and the largest on the menu is actually 125 pounds, and sells for $399.00! Our feast of the 2-pounder was actually only $17.99 which I found very reasonable! As for beverages - they don't serve tap water. Be prepared to buy a bottle of water, or just a pint of beer. I was able to try something new (to me) here: chocolate peanut butter stout! Scrumptious. I'm glad I visited once, and probably won't be back for a long time. It was decent, and I checked off a "gotta see" sight in my book.

Can't beat the burgers and beer selection. The menu is extensive and the food is solid pub quality food.

Was driving up to Niagara Falls with some friends and we stopped here for lunch. WOW! Phenomenal burgers. Like, you know how places will advertise on how "They have the best burgers" or whatever their specialty is and it really ends up just being a trap? These burgers were wonderful. The fries were even delicious. We all had a beer. A few dozen options to choose from and the prices were quite fair all around. Have to say, though, I mean this in the most loving way possible, several people in the restaurant -- mostly older folks, nobody who worked here -- could not stop staring at the four of us. My guess? One of us were black and the other was of Asian decent. Never felt threatened but there was some obvious staring going on by customers.

Very disappointed. Called this morning to make a reservation for a party of 16 and was turned away. Told they don't do reservations because customers waiting for a table don't like seeing empty tables. Really? I believe the process of making reservations is standard practice in the restaurant industry and most consumers understand how it works. If this is truly Denny's policy then remove the web info that says that Denny's Beer Barrel Pub is friendly to large groups and accept reservations! I very rarely provide poor reviews but this will also be posted on the restaurant's Facebook page. And no, we will not be standing in line waiting for a table. We will take our business to an establishment that respects that the customer also needs to be able to plan an event and know that their needs will be cared for by the restaurant.

Driving in the middle of Pennsylvania along I-80, we were very nervous on where to stop for dinner! We are SO happy to have found Denny's! To be honest, yes, there was way more people wearing camouflage than we've ever seen in our lives, but man, was the food good! GREAT craft beer selection. WONDERFUL burgers with witty titles. And a bacon garlic wing sauce that almost brought us to tears. STOP AND EAT HERE! I MEAN IT! NOW! :)

This place is one of the originators of the big burger challenges that now can be found virtually everywhere. They have huge burgers of varying sizes. I did the 3lb challenge and came very close to finishing. The problem with me rating this place is that I only had a rediculously oversized burger. As such I cannot properly evaluate the taste of the burger. Basically to eat one of these things you need to tear it up into smaller, more managable pieces. The meat seemed decent enough and the bun was homemade. Our waitress was nice and attentive. I recommend this place if in the area and wanting to try a burger challenege as a gimmick. Not sure if I would go out of my way to come here.

I hate to give this place a one star review, but I'm afraid I must. The burgers were very good. Unfortunately they nickel and dime you in unexpected ways. Asked for water, was told "it's bottled"... an extra $2.40 right there. My GF wanted to add bacon to a burger- that somehow triggered the custom menu, that added several dollars to her meal (we found this out upon receiving the check). I knowingly made a custom burger, but to both of our surprise, when the check came, the both of our fries were extra... The normal burgers come with fries... Why don't the "custom" ones? At no point did the server say that fries would be extra. So we paid $30 for what should have been a $20-22 meal.

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub was fantastic!. I am from this general area and was excited to get an opportunity to return while on a recent canoe venture. In fact it was so good it was our place of choice after the canoe venture before returning back to Pittsburgh as well. (Though let's be honest, where else are you going to go in Clearfield? I recommend going with their regular burgers rather than attempting one of the bland 2+ options. These will be dressed more appropriately. The one I particularity liked in the 2 trips was the habernero one that had some good flavor and spice to it. I also advise hitting up the wings and sharing them at the table as they are a pleasant surprise to be good as well. Lastly their beer choice was surprisingly extensive for a small town and offered a good selections of craft beers that appeared to rotate with regularity.

Yes they've been on tv for their flavorless gimmicky giant burger challenges.Yes they overcook them. Yes this place smells bad. Yes this place has horrible customer service. If any of these sound appealing to you, then this is your dream restaurant.

Love this place. Food is great and the menu has a great variety of burgers, salads, and seafood. I had the lobster bisque (loved it). Wait staff was friendly and the service was not rushed. I had the Prime rib burger and the dipping sauce was great. A must place to eat if you are in the area!

Food isn't good. Nice beer selection IF they even have the beer they have listed. Service is slow. Wait staff could be friendlier.

Cute little place off of I-80 . Went through an obstacle course to get to our table. You must have your hamburger their way or not at all. First restaurant in my life that I have ever had to buy bottled water instead of a glass of water. My burger was just average it was filling but not the most tasty burger I've ever had. Most of the appetizers were crap you can buy off of a rolling steak truck or from a local wholesale food supplier . Just throw it in the deep fryer for a few minutes and it will be great. Service was okay but not great. Therefore I will rate the restaurant okay but not great. I would not go out of my way to eat there again.

My first time ever hearing about this place so I just had to try it. I walked in on a fri evening and the place was busy. I purposely looked at my watch just to see how long it was going to take to seat me. Well it was a good eight minutes that I stood there continplating wether or not to leave. Finally a young man approached . He looked like the dishwasher after some weaving thru the place I got my table completely on the other side. I sat there as the wAitstaff zoomed by and no one even stopped at my table to greet me. Another ten to twelve minutes and finally someone came I ordered my drink and was ready to order when the non smiling waitress left to grab a different table. When she did come back I was famished. I ordered a steak delmonico at 29.00 And some appetizers My salad came mushrooms came and soup came. Now everything WAS good but no steak. I ate everything and was still waiting. A table across from me came in ordered ate and left No steak. When I finally did get it it was way undercooked I like med well this was rare I was not hungry by this time so I sent it back to be on longer. When it came back half was ok the other half was still raw They did after all comp my soup and appetizer I would go back just to give them anothe chance but I was there for two hours

Other than the fact that it's famous, there is nothing really that special about this place. The line is long, the burgers are the biggest in the world, and they have clearly capitalized on making it a tourist destination rather than a good place to eat. I had the two-pound burger, which was way too much to eat in one sitting, but it's not every day you have a burger the size of your head. The banana peppers were great for breaking the monotony of the tasteless patty, otherwise it would have been much harder to eat. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll definitely try something else since their menu is huge. Beware! They don't give you the option of tap water. I'm not sure if it's because of the quality of the water or whether they are trying to squeeze as much money out of you as possible by forcing you to buy bottled, but it's still inconvenient.

Welcome to Western PA and Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, aka "Home of the World's Largest Hamburger Challenges." I'm not sure if 'diamond in the rough' is an accurate description, at least from the diamond standpoint, but for this area, Denny's was much better than I anticipated. First surprise: beer selection. I was expecting the same, standard domestic crap you get almost anywhere else, so I was initially shocked to see so many craft beers on tap. Craving a seasonal, I ordered a Southern Tier Christmas ale. If wings are your thing, there a a ton of variations, including things I've never heard of before. When I saw the words "Bacon Ranch Wings" I fell in love, at least at first. They were pretty decent, but maybe a bit too much ranch, which also seemed a little thin in consistency. Definitely no issues with the chunks of bacon mixed in. Overall, a good experience, but when you have a combination of wings, beer and football, it's hard not to.

When we got there we just stood in a line going down the stairs into the restaurant. There was no hostess or anyone to tell us how long we would be waiting, we just stood there. Eventually the girl who was waiting tables came and took a couple people to tables as they became available. We probably waited about 25 minutes. Not a huge deal. But we didn't know how long we would be waiting, since no one talked to us, so it was a total crap-shoot in that regard. The menu was massive (not necessarily a good thing). There were an incredible amount of options to choose from, as long as you wanted them exactly as stated on the menu. You can't modify any of the meals. We had a group of six people, and wanted two appetizers to munch on while we waited. Unfortunately the appetizers that were big enough for six were all over $15. The cheaper priced appetizers were small and still over priced compared to other places. I ended up getting the Paterno Burger for my meal, since the place is known for burgers and all. It was good. Good as in average for any burger you would get at any other restaurant. To be honest, if it wasn't for the fact that they have a world record burger on the menu, this place would be nothing special. And if you don't care about world record burgers (I don't) then there is nothing special about this restaurant... Other than the fact it's one of about three places to eat in town. Oh, and you have to pay for water.

I have had burgers from all over. From the coast of Florida, to a dark unnamed eatery in the slums of Frankfurt Germany. I have had toppings both plain and strange. I have had the crappy gas station patties and the gourmet +$15 burgers with cheeses I have never heard of. So on one cool day in September I got on my Bike, put on my vest, and rode down to Denny's Beer Barrel Pub to try the world's greatest burgers. It took a little while but eventually I found at table. When i walked out the door I was amazingly unimpressed. I had a beer seeing as I knew I would be waiting for a while, but when the beer was done I decided to just get a glass of water. Denny's doesn't give out tap water you have to buy it by the overly priced bottle. As for the burger I found one that sounded delicious to me, but had hot peppers on it for some reason. I politely asked if I could get it without the peppers and the waitress was quick to snap back at me they do not modify burgers. So I ended up having to "Make my own" burger without one of the topping, for an extra couple of bucks and no fries. Thats right, to get them to remove hot peppers I needed to pay $3 more and get a separate order of fries. The waitress looked at me after I ordered for a second after realizing I had just ordered the menu burger without the peppers. She then acknowledged this fact in a snide way and then went to get me my over priced bottle of water. The burger was decent. No different from any other burger I have had from in any of the places I have been. It wasn't the best burger, it was about middle of the pack. I can see not allowing customer to remove a topping if you are taking one of their burger challenges, but I just didn't want hot peppers in my lower intestine on a long motorcycle ride home. This season I will be visiting again at some point. If I get the same service the two stars stay; if my last visit was just a fluke I will change this review accordingly.

The bar/restaurant is kind of a dive atmosphere. I always thought of this place as a bar, but it's full of insanely loud children and crying babies. The menu is massive, which leads me to believe they serve a lot of it is frozen prepackaged food. The food has never been very good one single time. I always leave Wondering why I went back. Service is known for being questionable here, it's difficult to get anything. Decent beer selection, some of them extremely overpriced for what they are. Paid 7.75 for a pale ale 16oz. I wouldn't complain about the extremely high prices if the beer was actually fresh, but it rarely if ever is. If you get a hoppy beer ask to sample it first before you waste your money. This place is packed, the locals like it, but I think it's because there is nothing else. Not sure why it's so well televised on food network and such..they make it sound so wonderful, but it's far from it.

I had a regular bacon cheeseburger to go. Even though it wasn't exactly hot off the griddle when I got around to eating it, it was still very good. Had a ciabatta bun and came with fries. Got mine to go because of the wait - 20-30 mins on a weeknight. Still waited 20 mins, though - enough time for an irish cider at the bar that was very tasty!

The menu is monstrous- so much to choose from. My favorite is the "black and blue burger"- seasoned scrumptiously. We'll make the 45 minute trip especially for it, They always have an expert chef. Friendly bartenders/waitresses. The only thing I'd have changed- some outside seating.

I've seen Denny's Beer Barrel pub numerous times on TV and wanted to make it a point to come here. The opportunity arose on a recent trip out to Penn State and I just had to make it. And I'm so glad I did! The place is literally in the middle of nowhere but people seemed to consistently stroll in; a mix of locals and first-timers. When I saw the pub challenger on the menu I just had to get it. It's the 2lb challenge, you have 1 hour to eat it and no utensils. I was feeling pretty confident that I would conquer the challenge and I got off to a great start but half way in I hit a wall and such was the result. I came up short but the waitress gave me a B+. It's a pretty touch challenge, as only 3% finish, so come prepared. They let you remove 1 ingredient for the challenge, and I recommend the relish. Oh by the way the burger was great and the beer is super cheap! Also the waitresses are super friendly!

This is the best restaurant in Clearfield. Not a lot of restaurants in Clearfield though. I have spent a lot of time working nearby and almost every night we eat at Denny's. The challenges are something you should do for bragging rights, but they do have other food that is pretty good. You will have to pay for something to drink (even water). If you are going to take the challenge and are going to do anything bigger than the 2lb burger (which still takes a while to prepare) order it in advance.

Visit Denny's Beer Barrel, and you will appreciate the rest of your life more, because you are not at Denny's Beer Barrel. From the abysmal customer service, to the deep fried menu, to giant flavorless burgers on dry oversized buns, Denny's Beer Barrel is the flagship of crummy western Pennsylvania restaurants. I've been here a few times, and every time I do, I wonder: Why did I do this to myself? Am I a glutton for punishment? Do I enjoy waiting in a dark and smelly restaurant, with an empty glass in front of me, for flavorless overcooked food which will ultimately fill me with regret? Do I like dreaming up ways to get the attention of obese waitresses, who only stop ignoring you long enough to make rude comments and ask you questions that don't pertain to you like 'how is everything?' while you are still waiting around for your food and a refill on your beverage? Well, I've made a commitment never to return, so the answer is no. I've been here four times and every time I've regretted it. One time, the smell of rotten food permeated the whole restaurant, another time I couldn't even eat my burger it was so bland, and my wife got really sick after. The last time, I sat for 35 minutes after they took our plates trying to get a check from the waitress. You know that feeling when you are full of grease, you have somewhere to be, and all you need is for some woman to take a piece of plastic from your hands, walk 10 feet and bring it back? Well after being invisible for over a half hour, every employee in the place chased us up the steps when we finally got up and left. I didn't even know that many people were working there, but I got the sense they have had a lot of practice with this type of drill. So after some yelling on their part, a scene which would have embarrassed me if it wasn't ultimately so shamefully embarrassing for Denny's Beer Barrel as an establishment, we calmly explained that we left cash on the table. Then, through a series of shouts across what I then realized was a perfectly formed relay line from the parking lot back down into the restaurant, right to the computer screen where the waitress was looking up our check, they confirmed that without seeing a check, we had left enough for the entire check and a 10% tip (we can do maths, who figured) we were released from custody and allowed to leave. At this time, I made use of this manmade wonder, the customer apprehending relay line, so expertly formed, practiced time and time again, and asked them to let that waitress know that we had left way too much money. As we turned to leave, the sun finally on our face once again, the road ahead of us, I felt this weird feeling, a mix of redemption, nostalgia for this moment we would laugh about for years to come, but mostly, I felt just a little more free than I ever had before.

Rented a cottage in Curwensville and looked for a place to grab a bite. My husband loves burgers and was excited to try this place. He ordered the prime rib burger medium rare and was told by the waitress he could only have it medium well. The burger came back extremely well done (perhaps they are pre-made). The buffalo shrimp was boiled tossed in wing sauce. Absolutely no flavor! We should have stopped at McDonald's.

Extremely disappointed... Having eaten at Denny's multiple times over the past 5 years, I was surprised to find that things have really gone downhill. To leave hungry after 2 appetizers shared by 3, and a burger is ridiculous. Paper plates for appetizers!?! How wasteful! Fried mushrooms- 7 small ones, which were frozen- for $3.95. 10 miniature meatless tacos for $4.99 that I could have gotten an entire box for the same price at walmart (with meat!). Also, $2.79 for soda with one refill of which all 3 sodas we ordered were watered down. When a comment was made to the server about this, no apology or explanation was given, apparently because they are fully aware of this problem. Hard cider is cheaper than soda @ Denny's! Why?! While the burgers were ok, if you like soggy, undercooked bacon or tasteless, fatty brisket, they were better years ago, as was the service. Our server seemed tired and unhappy even though she had just started her shift. She had a room of 30 to wait on. Read the menu carefully because if you want celery or bleu cheese with your wings it'll cost you extra! We won't be back......

I had been waiting to come here, and yay! we finally went. Only to experience: not being greeted when we came in, being seated in a crowded area (not a lot of room in this place), my chair kept getting bumped, the wall next to our table was dirty, the menu was last cleaned during the Regan administration from the looks and feel of it, and don't even think of substitutions. Not even substitutions - I just didn't want lettuce and tomato on the burger. Keep it. Save some $$, don't waste it. Nope. HAD to have it. The burger was good at best. The fries are definitely frozen. My husband chalked it up to being a "pub" in a town such as this...but I really don't care where it is or what type of place it is. We've been to pubs before and have had way better! My husband excused them as not having to be cordial or accommodating because of the press they've had. I've already made the decision not to come back, and advised my brother and family as well. So keep your waitress' attitude and your tomato and lettuce and frozen fries and mediocre burger and my family of 10 will take our money elsewhere. Maybe we'll be seeing them on Restaurant Impossible soon.

Below average!!! Was there this past weekend (12 Oct 13) for the Michigan-Penn St. game and my burger was not good. For a place that markets themselves for having great burgers, they missed the mark. I had a "Build Your Own" burger and it came to me well done, twice. Not a lot of flavor and toppings were missing. Apparently I should have taken one of the challenges since that is what they are known for. Highly doubtful if I will ever return. Apparently those with a better experience were there on a better night, still no excuse for a sub-par burger. Will say that the beer was good. Maybe I should have stayed on the hops and barley menu!!!

After driving for hours, this looked like a cute pub to grab a late dinner. We walk in, the place buzzing but not too busy... and then stood there, in plain sight, for ten minutes, completely ignored. No "hi", no "we'll be right with you," nothing. My exhausted mom wanted to leave right then, but I dreaded the only alternative in tiny Clearwater - fast food. So I walked over to a server and politely asked if we could be seated, as we'd been waiting for some time and not been helped. No apology, just "oh the hostess is probably just clearing a table for you," and went back to her screen, instead, of bothering to help. We waited another 5 minutes or so, still apparently invisible, and then left.

The food at Denny's is good, solid bar food, but what you come here for, of course, is the experience. I've been twice now, and both times it was a lot of fun, and a lot of food. The burgers are decent, but seem to have almost a meatloaf-like flavor and texture to them. The Challenge burgers come loaded up with onions, relish, mustard, and banana peppers, which I think might add to that taste. On my latest visit, my husband and I split the two-pound burger and *almost* finished it (on my previous visit, a group of 8 of us who were in town for a friend's wedding shared the 3-pounder between us all). The issue with finishing this burger (if you're trying for the contest) is the challenge of completing the bun. It's almost the equivalent of a full loaf of bread, and while two pounds of burger is one thing, that much bread is pretty unmanageable. But prices are good, and although it's unlikely that you would find yourself in the vicinity of Clearfield and stop here for something other than a burger, they have a gigantic menu, complete with seafood, Irish food, Italian food, Mexican food, and good old greasy bar classics. We had the cheesesticks and curly fries to 'round out' our massive burger, and they were both excellent. Service was a little on the slow side, but they seemed busy (we were there on a Saturday night), and our waitress was super nice and friendly. So, definitely worth it, if only so you can have a picture of a burger that is larger than your head.

I'll start off by explaining why I even gave two stars. First and foremost, the beer selection, they have a lot of crafts on tap, kudos. Second and lastly, the creative burgers on the menu. If only they could execute them oh if only.....let's start with the meat, I'm convinced I could cook a better tasting burger in a microwave, and I don't like being negative but seriously. Please try using some seasoning like salt and pepper! Salt and pepper goes such a long way on a burger!! It was a meat patty with no seasoning. Ok so maybe I could get past the bland meat with good toppings. The bacon, couldn't taste it... the grilled onions, could barely taste them....the Swiss American cheese, way overpowering. There was so much it was essentially all I could taste. The BBQ sauce? It was so incredibly bland I wasn't even aware that was possible for BBQ sauce. I dipped my finger in some that fell off the side and as soon as I put it on my tongue it dissipated. So weird. The fries were good at least, crushed those. If this place could bring some flavor to their burger concoctions I'd make the drive out here even when I'm not in town for business bc they sound that awesome. I hope they see this and make some adjustments. I couldn't be anymore genuine about what I've said.

I won't be back. Ever. The first time I went, I with my parents and family we were hosting from out of town. We took a trip to Northern PA to see the wilds area and thought we'd try the iconic Denny's. Sadly, we waited a while to get a seat. We weren't even greeted for a long time. Once we were seated, we waited about 20 minutes for a drink order. When the waitress came back to take our food order, it was at least 15 minutes later. About 1.5 hours after being seated, we receive our food, which was only okay. The second time I went, I was with friends going to see a concert at the Clearfield Fair. It was about 90 degrees that day, summer 2012, and I just wanted some ice water. Sadly, they do not offer free water. My Greek salad was okay, but I won't be back after two bad experiences. Not offering free water is an insult to your guests. I wasn't being cheap, I simply craved a few sips of water.

Nice selection of beers and nice food menu as well. Good beer, huge selection of wings and burgers are the main attraction. Lots of parking, and it can get crowded.

What can i say about this place that hasn't been said? Well did you know in addition to the burgers being huge, they are actually quite tasty? It is a quality burger with quality ingredients. And if you fail the challenge, the burgers are very reasonably priced. I tried the 2lb challenge and failed (Hangs head in shame) Everyone there is very nice. Denny himself was in the gift shop/store selling t-shirts and twelve packs of beer. He is a really good guy. Worth a trip.

My husband ordered a burger and I got a turkey burger. They were both cooked well, but lacked flavor. I can only eat so much of something with no flavor, and I'm full of it, before being "full", if that makes sense. Very disappointing, along with having to PAY for water. As a consumer, it's hard to "love" or even "like" a place when they are making you pay for water. Here's a hint to the owners - no consumer enjoys being ripped off.
Guess we should have ordered the burgers that they seem to be famous for, but my husband and I were hungry for steaks....not a smart decision. Both of our steaks were very tough and we did not discuss it with each other until later so as not to be rude in front of the rest of our party. We were both thinking the same thing....This was a stop on a vacation, but won't stop again.

We went to Denny's while on vacation in PA wilds to give the Burger challenge a whirl. We were quickly seated an started going through huge menu. The menu was BIG, just like the huge burgers they serve. I decided to take the 2lbs challenge. While waiting for the meal, the place has a game for finding some images on the vast table which kept everyone busy until the food came. When I got the burger it was indeed huge, but at the same time, it was delicious. As expected - I failed, but really enjoyed the huge burger. We so enjoyed our time, we came back a couple of days later for a second try. This time I forgo the challenge and we had an appetizer (the sampler apptizer of fried stuff). We loved all the different pickles and cheeses that were deep fried. Everything does taste better fried. For entree I had the elk burger. The burger was delicious and juicy. The service was great - We had Danielle as our server on both times - she was great - attentive and helpful and she even offered to take our picture. Denny's is a unique dining experience in PA - I would recommend this place as the best restaurant around for a while and certainly worth taking a special trip to give the challenge a try. Good luck.

Despite the incorrect address posted on Yelp, we found this place. Correct address is: 1452 Woodland Road Clearfield, PA 16830 We went all through the narrow streets here in a big truck finding this place, and for once Google (and the restaurant website) was right and Yelp was wrong. Sad. Fortunately there was adequate parking for out 16' moving truck in the lot when we arrived. I thought the food was good. Many, many choices. Even for a vegan. I had the portobello grill, not to be confused with the portobello burger. I liked the huge choices in sides. I also stopped upstairs and grabbed a novelty glass, because what's a trip without some sort of funny memento. Absolutely a great spot to stop for a break when driving I-80. I look forward to it if I ever am around here again.

If you are not familiar with area can be a little tricky finding especially at night. After long day of driving decided to get takeout and got the dry rub wings. Can honestly say they were best I have ever had. Also tried the jumbo roaster spicy. While they were good next time would just get the dry rub. Seems like they are famous for their burgers but can't go wrong with the wings!

The restaurant has been featured on the food network for it's GINORMOUS burger. For the gastrofreaks this place is a stop to test your GI-MIGHT!!! It's your typical pub and grub affair with good food and a great selection of beer. The crowd likes to keep themselves and its fairly calm and quiet with an occasional wooha here and 'thurr. Come ready for football and hunting season! The service is smile oriented so anytime you need anything grab the servers attention with a wave or a smile. You city slickers might not be used to that ;) Overall good place to catch up with friends you haven't been able to connect with in a while.

I read some of the previous reviews and most people were annoyed that they don't take reservations and they don't allow custom orders from their menu. First thing is this is a Bar/Restaurant and has limited seating, so no reservations is understandable. Customizing an order is strange, if there is something on a dish that I won't each, I won't order the entree. As far as quality of food, remember that this is a Bar/Restaurant, if you want Fine Dining, this is not the place for you. I've had their burgers and fries which I found large and pretty darn good. I was pleasantly surprised with the size and quality of the Wings! I got an order with 18 wings, great sauce and plenty of Blue Cheese on the side. They were a little pricey for Clearfield 12.99 for wings and 2.49 for a bottomless Diet Pepsi. But the prices are the normal price for what lunch costs in a bar. My server was Shelly. She was very attentive and was right there when I wanted a soda refill or plates taken away. She was pleasant, professional, and obviously experienced. My wings came out in minutes and were awesome. Burgers were big and better than I expected. I stop here whenever I am in the Clearfield area.

Been to Denny's 3 times, and every time has been unimpressive. The burgers are way overpriced and not that great. You can't make any alterations unless you build your own for even more money, which is stupid. And the service is some of the worst I've ever had, this is the only place I have ever not left a tip. Orders messed up, never came back for refills, burgers were already about cold when we got them, waiting for a check and having to go ask the bartender to get us one finally... and these were on days the place was half full. If you want a great place to eat in the are go to Luigi's in DuBois instead.

Great atmosphere, great food, kept it simple ordered Cajun wings, hot but cooked just right and had a bacon cheeseburger. I must say one of the best burgers I've had in awhile chargrilled bacon crispy, very fulfilling. Server was great, water is free but that's because it's bottled, other than that I'm stuffed

I am writing this review from the toilet (at 3:53 am) which I have been running to since about 2 hrs after eating hot wings @ this place. 2 words & a conjunction...Don't do it!

Marginal. The Cheese steak imitation had no flavor at all. How they could have the ingredients they have yet still have no flavor is a mystery! Prices are high for the quality. NO variations on the menu. Even McDonalds can leave off the pickles, not this place! Take what they have or you have to build a "custom" sandwich. No flexibility. Not worth a second visit.

The only place I've eaten at with a 26 page menu. How a place can manage it's stock with that much variety and food is beyond me. Wings, Steaks, Burgers, Wraps, Mexican, Seafood, Subs and Sandwiches, this place is just chocked full of whatever you could be in the mood for. In the most unassuming town you can think of on the side of a mountain. We came here for my Birthday with the goal to get the 3lb Burger. Not finish it, just get it. I failed miserably, but that wasn't the point. It was just damn satisfying tearing into a huge chunk of meat covered in enough toppings to choke a yak and still have enough left over after wards that I didn't have to buy food for the next week. The four people in the party each ordered various items ranging from smaller burgers to wings and nothing that came out was shunned. We were told that the burger would take at least an hour and a half to be made ready which was fine, we ordered small appetizers and drinks while we watched TV. While we were waiting 4 college guys came in and each ordered 2lb burgers as well. And soon everyone had the behemoths sitting in front of them. I took 2 hours before throwing in the towel. The burger was good, but it was just far too much beef for me to be dealing with. I took the rest of it home and ate it like a meatloaf over the course of the next week. We had a great time coming here. Give it a shot if you're passing through the area. There sure isn't much else to do in this town.

I'm proud, being from California, that i have been here twice. once when the 6lb burger was the biggest and then a year later when they had the 15lb burger. it was a dark and stormy night back in 2000 or so and it was either food TV or travel channel had a show that featured this monster. i was in awe, but how would i ever get to the middle of PA? but then luck was on my side. i joined a band and we toured. we toured all over and luck again steered me within 3 hours of the burger. so i demanded that we wake up hella early, drive 3 hours the wrong way, eat that burger and then drive 6 hours back the other way for the next show. i had to call 3 hours ahead and put a credit card deposit down! on a burger! pretty funny. and this place is out in the sticks, but a very scenic drive. there's some fancy college near there that looked pretty nice. Burger came out, and DAMN! both times, the 6lb and the 15lb burger blew my mind. just pure ridiculous. i cant believe they made these. i couldn't eat more than a few pounds of it. my only complaint is inherent to the nature of this style of burger. you see, they use eggs and breadcrumbs to keep the burger from falling apart, the same way you make a meatloaf. this leads to a meatloaf burger. which is good, but hard to eat 10lbs of. yelp.com/biz_photos/ODvV… i will always love this place and the memories surrounding my journeys there. i will be back one day.

Do not trust all of the hype, this pub is mediocre at best. There was no hostess to seat you... just a sign that directs you to wait to be seated. My son, 12yo, and I came on a late lunch on 8/30/13, a Friday, and the place was not busy. We were the only ones waiting to be seated and had to wait 5 minutes with no acknowledgement that we were even there. We felt funny, but pushed through these awkward feelings -- thinking it was just us. After reading some others' experiences, I guess we should not complain, but this issue should be rethought by owner/mgmt - if they even care which I really question due to the water issue. It was a nice day, not too hot for a summer day, but warm. I needed some water. Ordered tap water and they could only provide bottled water which is overpriced. I needed water so paid for it. Food quality was mediocre/acceptable but flavor of garlic butter wings and a philly cheesesteak was not great and closer to awful. We went to try a "famous" hyped burger, but son decided to try the garlic butter wings and I tried a philly cheese steak sub. The wings were ok at best and the flavor was average, which was way, way better than the flavor of philly cheesesteak. Denny's philly cheese steak was loaded with lettuce and sliced tomatoes which I've never really seen on a philly cheese steak anywhere (even in Lancaster or Phila or Harrisburg or Johnstown), but could not change the item from the menu anyway, but figured was my fault for not reading the menu closer. Ok, so I removed them myself onto my plate by hand as they did not even give us any utensils. Fortunately, they had a roll of cheap papertowels on the table. The meat on the philly cheese steak was flavorless thicker cuts of steak/beef, easy enough to chew, not the regular cheese steak slices, but flavorless. I think they forgot to put any cheese on to this sub, but remember seeing what was possibly a hint of melted cheese the one time I had opened it up to load ketchup onto it as the accompaning sauce on the side was horrible tasting (not of my preference of taste). Thank goodness our waitress walked by and provided us with a bottle of ketchup that actually had ketchup. With Heinz, the philly cheesesteak was edible - good thing I love ketchup. She did get me the one free refill of sweet tea but my son never got a refill on his soda, but at that point, we were just trying to escape. Overall I would recommend going to McDonalds, or any other restaurant before going back to this over-hyped dive. Dive lovers, this may be for you. My son and I, we will go to Red Robin, Five Guys, Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King, Subway or a truck stop for better food before going back to this dive. Thumbs way down.

I love good hamburgers. I hate bad hamburgers. I know that some people can only eat a hamburger if it is well done. Others can only eat a hamburger if it is still red or pink on the inside. I am one of those. To a well done hamburger eater, a hamburger that is red in the middle is disgusting and those folks can not imagine that anyone would eat a burger that way. They send a rare or medium rare hamburger back to the kitchen. But we rare burger folks cannot send a well done burger back to reverse the process. Well Denny's Beer Barrel Pub only serves burgers that are cooked to an internal temperature of 180 degrees or higher. That means well done. So when we stopped at Denny's a couple of years ago, when we were traveling from Michigan to New York, I had a burger and hated it. We never went back until this week. I decided I could just put up with the place and order something other than a burger. So I did that. I ordered some kind of sub that had sausage and steak. It was, in a word, revolting. It was chunks of pre-masticated meat smothered in some kind of vile sweet and spicy barbecue sauce baked on a tasteless bun with cheese broiled over the top. It merely made me ill. Now I love spicy foods, But this was just horrid. And I also ordered onion rings. They came to the table hot, but saturated in fryer grease, The best part of the meal was the bottled water I ordered, although it did not wash away the taste of the "food" I ordered. Now I know people love this place because it is famous for the huge burger contests they have. In fact, the day we visited a news reporter was there with a camera man taping a show where the reporter was trying to eat a three pound hamburger. We sat just one table away listening to the banter about how big that hamburger was. And it was huge. But at no time did the reporter say anything about how good the hamburger was. Denny ought to rethink his well done only policy. It is OK if he loves his burgers overcooked. But people want choice. My choice will be to never go back again. If I want a charcoal briquette on a bun, there is Denny's. But if I want a great hamburger, this just isn't the place to go. And forget the rest of the menu. Yuck!

The best thing on the plate was the pickle, it wasn't even that good. I'm thinking it was on tv for having a big burger, not a good burger. We were told by two locals to try it if we wanted the best burger we had ever had. Wrong. They were both wrong. McDonald's has a better burger. We were seated by a not so friendly, un-happy young man in the way back of the restaurant. He didn't offer us a booster seat or high chair for our 1.5 year old child. Server was average. I don't drink soda so ordered a water with lemon. "We have bottled water only". Brilliant, really. Another way to overcharge your customer, which, they are REALLY good at! Want to build your own burger? Sure! Get whatever your heart desires. Start with your meat, pick your bun (for $1.39, a bun isn't even included?!), then your toppings (lettuce for .39?) I ordered the black bean burger and my husband a bacon burger. The bacon was the pre-cooked thin version. It was about half eaten and not very tasty to say the least. My black bean version was even less edible. It was tasteless and looked disgusting. The fries were marginally edible and barely warm (we tried the regular and sweet potato). The bottled ketchup and mustard on the table was good, as it was Heinz. Bottom line? If you want a 15 lb burger, this is the place for you. If you want to eat more than two bites of your food? Please go somewhere else, anywhere else.

After seeing Denny's on tv several times, I knew I had to make the trip. We decided to go on a Sat night. When we showed up the parking lot was looking really full, which made me wonder how long the wait would be (especially since this place looks tiny from the outside). We walked in and were immediately seated. To my surprise, this place was actually really big!! I ordered a half pound burger with pepper jack and bacon. Oh... em... gee... I can't even put into words how delicious my burger was. The wait wasn't bad considering the number of people in the restaurant and the waitress was very attentive. I can't wait to go back!!! I just wish it were closer.

On a recent road trip to the midwest I came here with a group of 4 guys. One of the guys in our group decided to do the 2 pound hamburger challenge. I ordered a "road stop" hamburger which used two large pieces of square sandwich bread instead of regular hamburger buns. I wasn't expecting much since all their hamburgers are cooked to 160 degrees (well-done). However it is possible to make a great burger that's cooked well-done. I enjoyed every bite of my burger and the BBQ fries it came with. If you're a "rare meat" snob who think meat can only taste good rare then these burgers really aren't for you. Service here is pretty good. The waitress constantly checked up on us and had a great attitude. She even offered to give us separate checks which a lot of servers grudgingly don't want to do. My friend couldn't finish the 2 lb challenge but he did say the burger was pretty tasty and delicious for what it's worth. All in all this is a great experience if it's on route to wherever you're headed.

Waited 50 minutes to an hour for a hamburger with fries that had been under a heat lamp all day. The person I was with got a veggie wrap that was all potatoes with some onions. The place was not that packed for a Tuesday night. Shame on me for waiting and not just leaving . Don't make the same mistake go somewhere else.

We went here while on vacation after seeing their food network appearance. I like to go find these little hole in the wall places. And it was a hole in the wall. It was a cute little pub with lots to look at on the walls. I was anxious to try the burger. They were quite busy when we arrived at 1:00pm on a Friday but we were seated in about 10 minutes. I ordered one of the normal size burgers and some boneless wings as appetizers, the menu says their specialty is the wings. We received the wings pretty fast, but they were not impressive at all, a lot of bredding and very little chicken and over cooked. Then we waited and waited for our bugers, 1 hour and 25 minutes exactly. By the time they finally came we were ready to leave. The burger was ok, nothing to write home about, the same thing I can make at home. Overall the experience was totally not worth the wait!!! I won't go back...

The menu was large. We tried the elk and buffalo specialty hambuger with specialty fries: sweet potato and beer batter. The portions small. The waitress very attentive and friendly. The sweet potato was raw in the center. The other was good. I enjoyed my local beer: strawberry wheat. The atmosphere was interesting--pub like. There are flat screens everywhere, signs, and local artifacts. We took pictures with the big sign outside. The price was reasonable (we are from the nj/NY area). We ate two burgers, two beers, one soda, one small soup, and one dessert for about $41.00. It was a good experiance, but I don't think I'll be back--I live in NJ/NY.

This place is home to the 15 Pound Burger... if you don't believe me... google it... Myself and 2 other friends did an epic road trip from Charlotte, NC to there... total of about 32 hours round trip... I had to call ahead and give them my credit card number and my time when I was going to be there since it takes about 3 hours to make the thing.... Here is what all it has (it is something close to this).... 10.5 pounds of meat 1 head of lettus 2 tomatoes 1 onion 1.5 cup of ketcup 1.5 cup of mustard 1.5 cup of mayo 1.5 cup of bananna peppers 25 slice of cheese The thing is only 40 bucks and the pictures are well worth the price alone... surprisingly the first 25 bites of the burger were the best I have ever had... after that i felt sick... you might wonder how much the 3 of us ate... only 4 pounds... it was weak showing but real freaking fun... you should check out the place if you ever want a food road trip.

I've read the reviews, seen it on Food TV, came across it on "best burgers" websites / articles / blogs, etc. So I had to make sure that I stopped in to try this famous joint. I arrived with high hopes..... Got there at 12:20 on a weekday for lunch. Not crowded at all and waitress was great. She was very new but very helpful. I settled for the 1/2 pound Pennsylvania Beer Barrel Burger. I requested medium rare, waitress replied that the lowest they will go is medium. I asked if they could add some blue cheese but waitress replied that you can't add anything but are only permitted to take items off. I inquired again and said I was happy to pay additional for the blue cheese. Nope, no go. WTF?!?! Burger arrived in an acceptable amount of time. Fries were cold, burger was luke warm cooked to well done. This is one of those kind of places that I wouldn't risk sending the plate back cause I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that the kitchen staff will play floor hockey with your food and add some "special sauce" to your order. Taste was decent, nothing special. If you're driving by on I-80, you may as well stop by so you can say you've tried Denny's. You'd be better off at Fatburger, Cheeburger Cheeburger or Fudruckers. I can't say I'd agree with those reviewers who made a pilgrimage to Denny's for the great quality burgers that they rated 5 stars. Obviously they've never been to Peter Luger, White Manna, le Parker Meridien Burger Joint or Le Tub. Those are the ONLY places that deserve 5 stars (I'm sure there are a few more out there too). Yelp reviewers should remember that 5 stars = impeccable, unbeatable, Mt. Everest supreme, best anywhere.

It was really very average. I expected to have a great burger since it is 50 percent of the menu. Service was great but the food just ok.

Tried a 2LB challenge when I came here during finals week and failed. Burger was rather good, although the meat didn't seem like the world's greatest quality. If I ever came back I'd give something else a shot but for the the fun, spectacle, build-up and the price it was a good time.

Waited in line for two hours to be seated on 12/27/2010. Eventually Hostess told us they rented out half of the restaurant for a party. Never did get seated as we left. Service seemed very slow, as we witnessed other dining guest disgusted with the service. Almost no communication with staff while waiting for table. You'd be better off visiting Legends just a few miles away.

I really found this place by chance as we were driving back to Ohio from a game against Penn State. They had on the football game we were looking to watch and that was our main goal. We were seated right away but it took the waitress a while to come by. We did have menus but it was so damn big I thought I would just ask her for any recommendations. I was told they have burgers....thanks I caught that by reading the menu. Because I wasn't ready to order and she failed to give me a suggestion she said that she would come back. No problem, that is fine...of course by come back she meant 15 min later. By this point me and my friend decided to try the Blitzburgh platter. 20 wings, onion rings, cheese sticks, jalapeño poppers, sounded like we couldn't go wrong. We tried the hot bacon garlic wings, I have never heard of this combination and thought it sounded good. What arrived I am not sure how to explain. I have never seen so much sauce on wings. I would normally say this is a good thing until I had these wings. The sauce looked like some type of mix between gravy and thick Italian dressing. The sauce was absolutely terrible and is the worst wing I have ever eaten. I forced down one wing and my friend took one bite before he gave up. The remainder of the platter was unimpressive as well. The cheese sticks were the highlight. Their other wing sauces may be good but I beg you to stay away from this sauce. A table next to us also commented on them and we offered them some but unlike us they were wise and declined. The service never got any better either. She never came back to check on how the food was. We got the check and then it was another 15 min for the waitress to take our money. For some unknown reason we gave a $12 tip on a $28 bill. I think it was the fact that we were so tired and didn't want to have to wait another 15 min for change or a bill to sign The waitress was shocked and she should have been, it was probably in the top 3 of worst services I have ever had. Stay away from the hot bacon garlic wings!!! It has been 2 days and I still want to vomit thinking about them.

Rip off joint. They charge you $3.30 for a soda. The burgers are totally overrated. They over cook the hamburger so much it's all dried out and tasteless. Yuck.

If you scroll to Jenn's review, I'm the conspicuous character who doesn't eat red meat and still had a good time. It was definitely a blast. Not the type of place I would go to often (especially now that I live in Seattle!), but the food is all good - even if you get a normal-sized buffalo chicken wrap - the atmosphere is great, everyone is super friendly, and of course they have the huge gimmick of the larger-than-life hamburgers. The ultimate in guilty pleasures is watching your friends gorge on hamburgers bigger than their heads. 'Nuff said.

Saw this on Man vs. Food with Adam Richman and had to give it a try. Drove 2 1/2 hours for the 2 lbs burger challenge, and left with nothing but disappointment. The burger was dry (i mean shoe leather dry), the drinks were not free ( not even water) and the condiments were loaded on this burger, in a way that wasn't even bearable. This review is solely on the 2 lbs burger though. I will admit the wings looked pretty good, and I'm sure a reasonable sized burger would have been pretty good as well. Personally, I would not drive out of my way to try this burger joint in this rural town, but if your doing it for bragging rights like my friends and I did, you might consider it. It was the biggest burger that I have ever seen, and if you are going to this restaurant, make sure you see on of these things in real life. Photo's dont do it half of its justice.

Thank you Denny's Beer Barrel Pub for putting rural Central PA on the map! I'm so thrilled that this little local bar has attracted so much national media attention and, as a result, has become a burger lovers' destination. For those of us not into competitive eating, Denny's offers a VERY full menu of wonderful choices. I suggest checking out their menu online before you go, otherwise you'll sit there for an hour just trying to take it all in. Unless of course you know you're going to take the Big Beer Barrel Belly Buster Challenge. In which case, good luck and God speed! To anyone traveling through or near Clearfield, PA, make a quick stop off of I-80 to check out Denny's Beer Barrel Pub. You won't be disappointed!

We did the 15lb challenge. It took about 20 of us to finish it, so it doesn't really count, but we were still proud of ourselves. Anyways, it's a super laid-back pub with a great atmosphere. Most of the food seems to be fried. We also had the portabello fries, which everyone either loved or hated, and mozzarella sticks, which were pretty standard. Our waitress was excellent. I'll be back if I'm in the area again.

6 Friends + 2 Cars + 1 Mission = To Finish the 6lb Hamburger from Denny's Beer Barrel Pub. Having finished the flag football season with a 4th consecutive defense of our title, a few of us opted to take on the challenge of finishing the legendary 6lb burger from Denny's Beer Barrel Pub. As the legend goes, there's this restaurant that serves a monstrous sized hamburger that few have been able to finish. For the 6 of us, it was off to see whether it was humanly possibly to conquer this feat. During the drive to Denny's, the 6 of us agreed that whoever finished the burger first, would have theirs paid for by the other 5. A good deal for the person who finished, seeing as though the Six Pounder cost $36.00 Arriving at the isolated wooden establishment that is Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, we were all psyched to start the challenge. Having not consumed anything for 6 hours prior, the gluttonous punishment that awaited us was something that no imaginary thought could prepare us for. After checking in with management, we were informed of the rules of the challenge. The burger patty itself weighs 6 pounds and is topped off with 1/4 of an iceberg lettuce, 2 tomatoes, 1 onion, 6 slices of cheese, and topped with a massive sized hamburger bun. Patrons engaging in this challenge have exactly 3 hours to finish. What we didn't know about the challenge is that if any person can finish the 6lb burger in under 3 hours, they would get the burger for free and have their picture put up on the wall of fame. Nothing to describe about the establishment as the restaurant resembled that of your average Middle American bar. The furniture was old and worn, the lighting was dim. Of course, no one cared much about the atmosphere, at the end of the day; we were here for the Burger. Upon seating, we were presented with the astronomical feat that was ahead of us. The monstrosity that is the 6lb burger is one that shouldn't be reckoned with unless fully prepared. Nevertheless, the visual inspection of the burger revealed the burger was the size of a 6lb meatloaf that's topped with a garden salad and 2 thick slices of pizza dough. Nevertheless it was off to the races as the 3 hour clock started when presented with the burger. The Burger: Throughout the consumption process, tasting the burger is secondary to actually consuming it, nevertheless, the burger itself did have a remarkably welcoming taste... The burger patty, constructed mostly of 85/15 hamburger meat was scrumptious and well seasoned. During the initial consumption phrase, tasters (if not gluttonous eaters) will find that each individual bite contained a proper balance of seasoning that was complemented well with the charred texture of the burger. The vegetable ingredients provided a much welcoming refreshing earthiness to the burger, as the meat becomes burdensome to eat after the initial 10 bites. Although an immense amount of cheese was used in the application, the overall flavor of the cheese was rendered undetectable by the gluttonous amount of beef in the burger. Nevertheless, the burger itself was flavorful, juicy, and well seasoned, which is a difficult feat given the sheer size of the application. 49 minutes, 12 seconds later... We had a winner. That's right! Despite being allotted 3 hours to consume the infamous "Ye Olde 96er", Yours Truly was able to accomplish the feat in under an hour. After approximately 2 hours of consumption, the rest of the party opted to give up. James (our quarterback) had approximately 1/2 pound remaining to his burger but the excessive gluttonous amounts of consumption was too much to handle. All other members of the team barely broke 3 pounds, as the sheer enormity of the burger was too much to handle. As agreed... The 6 pound burger was free! My photo now resides in the Wall of Fame amongst the many others who have accomplished this feat. After having my picture taken, I asked the owners whether I could have my picture placed next to my cousin's. Sadly, they didn't believe that I was related to Takeru Kobayashi. They were right to believe so. Warning to those attempting this challenge, DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF BEFOREHAND! Have a small meal the morning of, but definitely DO NOT STARVE! Also... Drink TONS of Green Tea afterwards.

Went for the 2lb burger challenge. The service was great. Waitress was super nice and the decor on the walls of the place was fun to look at while waiting for food. Didn't take that long to get my burger. Was told I had one hour to eat it, could take off one of the toppings (cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, yellow peppers, mustard, ketcup, mayonaise and two pickles on top). I despise mustard and onions so I opted to ditch the onions as I thought it would be the worst of my two evils. The burger was pretty rough. They have to cook it to an internal temp of 160 degrees. It was extremely dry. The bun was a bit undercooked too which made it rough to chew. As far as taste, it resembled a meatloaf basically. I made it about halfway through and that was all I could handle. Now to review the other stuff...they have a giant menu and most of the food looked pretty good, I tried my friends hot wings and they were really good. Their cheesesteak was gigantic also. Definitely worth a try, but if you're going for the burger challenge beware...it is like chewing a spounge. I say skip the gimmick food and go for their regular menu...their smaller sized hamburgers are actually really good.

Denny's is a destination road trip for any group up for a challenge. We brought the dream team to go after this thing the first year, and failed to even make a dent. Apparently the size of the person has nothing to do with volume of food consumption. Our vegetarian DD also failed his role as he drank too much beer to drive. Getting to Clearfield is a totally different story, it's a long drive from just about any where. Totally worth the drive. We love this place, $2 and change gets a tall draft of beer, the burger was $40, last year it was upped to $50. Amazingly, the burger has a nice taste to it. It's made with various ingredients in the patty, a pretty good mix. Definitely going again, don't miss this gem... err.. big rock!

This place seemed to have a burger focus (they have two pages of various topping combinations and a giant burger challenge), so I thought I should give their burgers a try. I don't think I will be getting another hamburger from Denny's. The meat was on the dry side and just not all that tasty. The bun was good, better than most even. And the sweet-potato fries were delicious. I went with three others who reported: Lasagna: Does not contain ricotta. Otherwise good, as long as you like the kind made with ground beef. Baked Ziti: Was obviously not cooked to order, as the middle was still a little frozen. Is also made with ground beef. Portobello Sandwich: Was OK. Have had better, but was not bad. If you are looking for a place in town that serves beer and has the game on, Denny's will work for you. However, their food is not particularly good. Note: no relation to the 24-hour chain with cheep breakfast.

I failed. I really did. We drove up from Pittsburgh and called ahead to get the 6 lb ready. We knew we couldn't do the 15 lb. And as we got closer to Denny's, we knew that neither of us (the 6 of us including a non-red-meat guy) could finish a 6 lb burger. But the burger was amazing. You would think that a gimmick like this would make the burger just...disgusting. Wrong! The bun was delicious. The meat tenderly cooked. The lettuce and tomato was a bit lacking, but that wasn't the point. The servers were incredibly nice and friendly. Even when we admitted that we weren't going to do the challenge. It was about $25 for the entire 6 lb. My friend got a chicken sandwich (he doesn't eat red meat) and he still enjoyed it. He enjoyed watching us devour a burger. Another friend got a 2 lb burger and didn't even finish. The leftovers was great for meatballs. I came away from the experience with a full stomach (I couldn't eat for the next 24 hours except for water and dried cranberries) and a t-shirt.

What can I say about this place? If nothing else, they are upfront and honest. They will not cook your burger to order. Well done is all they'll do. All the toppings and cheeses in the world couldn't make it edible. If you like well done burgers stop by, but if not make sure to order something else or go to Red Robin. We went on Fathers Day, and I wasn't sure if they were just under staffed, but it took almost an hour for our appetizer to come out. We ordered the "hot bacon garlic" wings. They were bacony and garlicy but only temperature hot... Not spicy in the least. We thought the kitchen may have made a mistake, but were so hungry after the long wait that we ate it anyway. I was another 40 minutes after we had finished the appetizer before the burgers arrived. All in all I was very unimpressed with the food, and we actually wished we had spent the 3 hours somewhere else instead of being served subpar wings and burgers.

Great place!. i have tried the 2 lb and 3 lb burgers and will go back any time I get a chance. Not the best quality, but makes it up in atmosphere and quantity. They also have a great selection of hot wing sauce flavors and some of the hottest wings I have ever (attempted) eaten.

We had to stop here as part of our road trip from NY to Chicago. It was half way to Akron, and close by to the highway. I do not understand all the hype about Denny's Beer Barrel Pub burgers. They have big burgers, burger competition, and a lot of different types (2 pages worth) but they are nothing special. The server did not ask how we wanted them cooked, so I think they cook everyones medium well, which often times gets dried out. They have some interesting combinations, and ideas, but they were not executed so well. The rest of the menu sounds pretty good, they have a large variety of food, I don't think people understand that if you go here order something that is not a hamburger, You will be much happier. We had fried pickles, and fried mac and cheese. It was a first for both of us, and it was amazing!!! Burgers eh. The bar pub atmosphere was cool, and the parking was huge. A large dirt lot next to the pub. A little tricky to find, off the main road, but easy to get to (bring your GPS!) I would definitely go back and try some of the veggy items!

I saw this place on the Travel Channel and told Bill that we had to go there. It was supposed to take us 2 hrs from somerset to get there and it ended up taking 4 hours because apparently i cant read directions to save my life. We Were both pretty pissed at each other, but when we found the place ( after bill asked an employee at sheetz were the place was) all the anger went away and we had a really good time. The food was excellent. We both had one of their burgers ( I believe I had the hillbilly burger) It was so big that once again I had to take it home. He finished his in like 2 minutes, He should have done the burger challenge ( I know he would have finished it in the allotted time....) The wait staff was very attentive, even the though the place was packed, they took real good care of us. This place is worth the drive from anywhere. I highly suggest you check it out. ( note: I trust the travel channel more than that moron guy fieri....)

(4)Jimmy B.
Decent food, very good beer, fun knotty pine decor. Given the competition around here, I don't get the negative reviews. We're on a road trip and a place like this off the highway is a rare gem.
(4)A Z.

Had the Ground Pounder and it was delicious! Took awhile to come out, but worth the wait. Plenty of beers to choose from while waiting.

(4)Derek L.
Elk burger is excellent. The lady at the bar name Ding is awesome and very friendly. Didn't see anyone try the challenge burger. This place highly recommended if you in Clearfield or Dubois.
(5)K C.
(4)Bill R.
Highly recommended but it was just average at best. My wife's margarita was terrible my steak was full of gristle. Pass this over hyped place and go somewhere else
(2)Chris M.
(2)Nicky O.
(3)Jeff L.
(2)Cody P.
(5)Ted C.

Wonderful service. Lots of signature burger selections. I rolled with the 1/2 lb Smitwicks Pub burger. It was well seasoned and moist.
(4)Summer G.
Can't get a burger or a duck under well done. Ordered a Reuben instead. After a ridiculous wait: Fries were cold and the sandwich was soggy.
(1)Joseph R.
(2)Robert J.

Stopped in for burgers and while the service was a little on the slow side, they were also pretty busy so I get it. Wide selection of burgers, seemed to be kid-friendly.

(4)Dan B.

(5)Sara B.

(4)Pat K.

(5)john s.

(1)Dale S.
Great beer list, wings were delicious and the service was excellent. We will make this an annual stop.

(1)Karri M.
(1)Dan S.
Had dinner tonight and all the previous reviews are accurate. I only give two stars because I hate having our sever sweep and mop the floors while we are still eating our dinner! And they do not close for another hour and a half!
(2)Keith J.
(2)David H.

(3)Jarred A.
(2)Carol K.

(4)Dan W.

Stumbled in during one of the craziest thunderstorms I've ever seen, anywhere in the country. No visibility on the highway, so we pulled off for safety's sake and we landed here. The power went out twice while we were here, but the staff handled it like champs. With such a huge menu, we followed our tradition, got 2 burgers, and split them: French onion, and black and bleu, with sweet potato and beer batter fries. The burgers were decent: tasty and juicy, but a little over cooked (we asked for medium, but got well). The fries? Meh. Obviously frozen and reheated. Overall, not bad and not incredible. My fiancé wants to return with friends to attempt the 2-lb. burger eating challenge. I'll pass. Though we didn't partake, they do also have a pretty extensive beer list.

(2)Derrick A.

(3)Daniel B.

Great burgers, atmosphere and service!

Love love love this place! My hubby tried one of the challenges and almost made it lol! Totally worth the $ I'm not a big fan of burgers but OMG they were sooo good! Must try!
(5)Richard F.
Yuck!

Unique experience, good food, and friendly environment. Worth the detour. Better than we expected.

(3)Rich B.
It was really very average. I expected to have a great burger since it is 50 percent of the menu. Service was great but the food just ok.
(2)Rob O.
Finally made it back for the wings.. They were okay but I rank the burgers higher. Still, good food, good place.
(4)Brian B.
Tried a 2LB challenge when I came here during finals week and failed. Burger was rather good, although the meat didn't seem like the world's greatest quality. If I ever came back I'd give something else a shot but for the the fun, spectacle, build-up and the price it was a good time.
(4)Todd D.

I want to come here but I'm on the wrong coast. Denny's famous for the gigantic burgers..... One day.... one day....
(5)Glenn C.
(1)Dave F.
Rip off joint. They charge you $3.30 for a soda. The burgers are totally overrated. They over cook the hamburger so much it's all dried out and tasteless. Yuck.
(1)Zachary Sam Z.
'Nuff said.
(5)Chris P.
(2)Chris K.
Burgers were unimpressive. The wings were mediocre at best, and the only good beer on tap was out?! Also does not serve tap water?!?! Must buy bottled water. Boo!!!
(2)Stephanie P.

One day I will take the 2lb. hamburger challenge and I will dominate it.
