I had a pretty monster craving for some frozen yogurt and discovered this gem while out getting dinner @ Subway near my hotel in Carlisle, PA. I haven't even heard of this brand before, since in their name told me that they were the "original" frozen yogurt place. Maybe in central Pennsylvania or its a regional thing up here. Who knows. But since I was here on a Wednesday evening, I figured I would check things out and get in some good froYo while I am at it. While I am a certain ice cream aficionado, froYo is a great alternative too. This Meadows Frozen Yogurt location is on the Harrison Pike, off of the I-76/Pennsylvania Turnpike and down the street from my hotel in Carlisle, PA. The store was more or less empty that night, with one table occupied with a couple of people enjoying their purchase. The Meadows Frozen Yogurt brand reminds me of Baskin Robbins or anybody similar to this business model. There was just one dude at the counter and it was about 6:30pm when I rolled in. The Meadows Frozen Yogurt sold your basic frozen yogurt and also had cakes for sale as well. Thought that was pretty good. I looked at the menu and asked about the dirty turtle, which was basically a chocolate fudge concoction with pecans mixed in there. The cost was about $5 for a large cup and it was sinfully delicious. The service was good and expected. The dude at the counter answered my question and he didn't sound like I was a weirdo for not knowing what the dirty turtle was. This place is a keeper, although I probably should have located a cold stone creamery, but I doubt that they would have a location out here. Then again, I wouldn't known if I didn't search on yelp on it. The experience here was short and sweet, literally and I had a good time, for what it was worth. Maybe I shouldn't have asked for the pecans in hindsight in my dirty turtle, but it was good and hit definitely hit the spot. Getting here was interesting, since the mini strip mall The Meadows was on did not have the usual opening entrance from the Harrison Pike. In fact, you would have to go to West Point Drive, the entrance to those fancy condominiums, and drive back towards the mini strip mall and it lead to the parking area for the strip mall. How crazy is that? Unless I was blind that evening, that's how it went and it was a good experience. Recommended if you are into froYo. Support local! B
