    Service was mediocre at best. Went when it was very busy, and orders were messed up and missed. Food was ok, but nothing special. Waited a while for our food, and when it came it wasn't hot. The ribs were too fatty for my taste. The place overall has no special decor or feel to it. The sauces were pretty good, and servings are big for a low price.

    I have only eaten here once, so I need to go back and try again. It was probably a year ago. The food I got when I was there was very good. The sauces were also very good. With all the other places poping up in the area, I haven't had a chance to go back. Will make another review once I try again.

    Ok, Food is pretty darn good....if you don't mind waiting. There are about 12 tables in the place, 3 servers. Since items like ribs, brisket, smoked meats, sides items (except fries) are prepared hours in advance, why does it take 20-25 minutes for food? It was not just our table of three but every table. Food service is incredibly slow out of the kitchen. We arrived around 6:25 last night and unfortunately, we seemed to get the slowest, most unmotivated server of the 3, as we watched the other ladies constantly moving about, checking their tables. Simple math is that with 3 servers and 12 tables, that's only 4 tables per and not much turnover because of the slow pace of the kitchen. We ordered around 6:35 and everything was straight off the menu. The only items that needed to be "freshly" prepared were orders of fries. We got out food well after 7 pm. We made the mistake of not ordering out dessert at that time, which we were taking with us. That added another ten minutes to scoop out and heat peach cobbler and apple crisp. BTW-the portion size of each is about 1/2 of what it was the first time we visited. No longer worth the $4.75 price. Overall, might do carry out and order well in advance of being hungry. Had faster meals at a place like Hotel Hershey Circular Dining room. We finally left at 7:40 pm, about an hour and 20 minutes after we arrived. No exactly the pace I would expect from a restaurant like this, with this type of menu. If they served items like steaks that had to be prepared or had 40 tables, different story but each time the service is painstakingly slow. Don't go if you are starving.

    This was does have great food! I did take out but the restaurant was packed so it's obviously a locals favorite too. The ribs were amazing! I really enjoyed the tomato based bbq sauce. In hindsight I would have tried the mac salad instead of the mac n cheese but otherwise it was all really goof

    Moist tender brisket and good collard greens. On table sauces were tasty if not outstanding. My friend had the three meat plate, so I got to taste the excellent pulled pork. He liked the baby backs so much that he refused to share. Solid smoked barbecue. Wish they had beer.

    Great service, nice place, very nice menu, excellent prices and solid BBQ. This is probably some of the better BBQ I have had in Pennsylvania. I ordered a combination dinner with 1/4 chicken dark, 1/4 slab ribs and a large pile of pulled pork. I opted for beans and collards as my side and it comes with cornbread too. This was a mountain of food. The sauces were pretty good. I liked the honey mustard even though it was a little sweet and I like my mustard sauce a little more on the savory side. I also liked their spicy tomato BBQ sauce. It wasn't too spicy nor too sweet. They have them for sale although I have no idea how they get away without putting ingredient labels on them. I like to check for preservatives and corn syrup but was denied. The BBQ is finished over charcoal. I have no idea if this BBQ is actually smoked as all you can really taste is the rub and the charcoal. I liked the rub and was sort of ok with the charcoal. Nothing was overcooked and you could still taste the product and the rub so it was a passable level of charcoal overall. I really prefer a smoked product. The chicken was moist, tender and really tasty. I liked it with the mustard sauce. The pulled pork was too salty. Really too salty, not a matter of taste. Too bad because it was moist and delicious and didn't really even need a sauce. The ribs were heavy on the rub and just too redolent of charcoal for my taste. They have a nice amount of fat on them and are tender and juicy as well, the meat comes right off the bone and I did like them overall but would like to taste more pork on them. The beans were great, tasted like beans. Thanks for not burying them. They're a little sweet and they could get away with backing off it because of how sweet their sauces are but I really did like them a lot. The collards are confusing. Why would anyone put butter in their collards? Pork fat isn't enough? I want to taste the vinegar, the pork and the collards. That's it! I ordered collards as a lighter side than some of the other stuff on the menu and you put butter in it? Really turned me off. I hated the cloying overabundance of butter on these. There's nothing to eat in between the East Coast and Pittsburgh and we often find ourselves around here for lunch and dinner so will most likely be back.

    Ignore the inattentive waitstaff and prepare yourself for barbecue heaven! Redd's has great cue and nice tangy sauce! We just used up our to go bottle of the stuff and have to return to get more! The sides were great too especially their corn bread *insert angelic choir harmonizing "Aaaaahhhhhh"* with bacon throughout!! I would avoid the mac and cheese but thats because I'm a mac and cheese snob and really only like my own. Why are you still reading this review and not driving to Carlisle??

    I was recommended to dine here by some locals and it did not disappoint! The waitress was extremely sweet and suggested that we try the brisket so I ordered the brisket dinner with collard greens and cole slaw for sides. The brisket was amazingly tender and moist and paired with the spicy tomato based bbq sauce, it was heaven. I enjoyed the collard greens, but wasn't a fan of the slaw or the corn bread. The corn bread...all I gotta say is, thank goodness the brisket was so good because the corn bread was so dry and stale. Overall, despite the corn bread, the rest of the food and excellent service will push me to recommend this spot to all!

    Excellent customer service! Good cornbread and sweet potato fries. If you're used to eating BBQ from Texas & Kansas City, this is not the place for you. With that being said, if you're a fan of Carolina style BBQ & bacon, then you might enjoy this spot.

    On the recommendation of a co-worker, my family visited Redd's. I ordered the sampler platter of ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. All three were tasty enough, but I did find them to be very salty. The side of Mac n Cheese was average. The collard greens were great. Overall the BBQ was average. The high points are: the service was very good. All the waitstaff were helpful and attentive. The atmosphere in a very small place was welcoming and enjoyable. My wife and I appreciated the family friendly vibe. Numerous other families were also dining here. I'll give it 3 out of 5. We might try it again.

    Excellent BBQ. We ordered the pulled pork dinner with corn and coleslaw. And added on the half rack of ribs. Both meats were delicious. The cornbread comes with it and was also yummy. Choice of 5 sauces. Our favorite was the Kansas City BBQ sauce. The Spicey Tomatoe was also very good. Restroom clean. They take cash and credit cards. There is parking on the street - meters. Very nice establishment. Staff was excellent.

    Stopped in at Redd's Smokehouse BBQ last night on my way back from Westmoreland County. Pulled in around 7:30. The joint had a few occupied tables, but there was plenty of space for me. I chose a table rather than the wall-lined counters with bar stools because I wanted to look around, and not at the wall. The house has little in the way of atmosphere. Just two levels of open floor with room for a few tables and the wall huggers in the back nearer the kitchen. Service was friendly and helpful. Ashley gave me a quick tour of the menu and made useful suggestions. I went with Redd's Sampler to maximize my ability to check out the offerings. One quarter rack of Babyback Ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket seemed best, and that came with a choice of two sides (Baked Beans, Macaroni Salad) and a chunk of Cornbread. The platter came out about 15 minutes later, loaded with my choices. They were all served dry (not sitting in BBQ sauce). There were 3 bottles of sauce on each table, Tomato, Spicy Tomato, and Honey Mustard. They were meant to be squirted liberally onto the meat just before eating. I liked the approach as it gave me a chance to taste each without sauce first, and then experiment which sauce went best with each meat. The Ribs were excellent. Not fall off the bone, but "pull off the bone" tender. The surfaces were caramelized and the inner meat tender as can be. The Honey Mustard went best with these fat boys. The Pulled Pork was well cooked while still juicy. The Tomato based sauce seemed to complement it best. I drenched the pile and mixed it in for a while to allow the meat to absorb more flavor. It did that like a sponge. Delicious. The Brisket was nicely charred and lean. Nice quality, but still had that strong brisket taste and not so much of the grill. I liked the Spicy Tomato best on this as it worked to tamp down that flavor and turn it into something much more interesting. The spice (Tabasco?) really added a pleasant kick. I could not finish and took half of the meal home with me with extra sauce provided by Ashley. Then she asked if I wanted dessert. I really wish she hadn't done that, as I was sated already and had a 2 hour drive ahead of me. Yet, the food had been so enjoyable, I figured the Peach Cobbler a La Mode had to be the right way to finish. It arrived in a large soup bowl and looked appealing. However, it seemed that it had been heated in the microwave and the cobble was soft, rather than firm or even crunchy. The Peaches were similar, and I could not tell if they had been fresh or from a can. Next time - skip dessert. Overall, a fun and tasty stop in Carlisle. While I had envisioned more of a roadhouse before arriving, the more stripped down reality was not a problem. The food was a good hand, and my server, exceptional.

    Very good. The smoked wings are so delicious. You don't even need a sauce. Seriously! And that's coming from someone who loves saucy wings. The ribs are also great, I love them with the KC sauce. The mac n cheese is also good and has some spice to it, differentiating it from other generic Mac n cheeses. Corn bread is alright. I don't like the chicken salad.

    Perfectly good barbecue; and very friendly service! Since this was my first visit I wanted to try a couple things and see what was good for the next time, and luckily they have a sampler platter for just such a contingency (or if you're feeling indecisive and/or starving). I love me some brisket, but have yet to find any north of about the 35th parallel, so I went with the more northern options of ribs, pulled pork, and a 1/4 chicken. While the chicken was nothing special (it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either), the dry-rub ribs were very well done. The pulled pork was tender and juicy, but it didn't have the nice bark that I really look for on pulled pork. Overall a perfectly respectable barbecue joint, and I'll be back for more ribs and maybe some pulled pork as well...

    My favorite restaurant in Carlisle, and the best smoked BBQ I've had! I have eaten here many times - I used to live right down the road. I now live about 45 minutes away, but my wife brings home takeout often! The brisket is amazing, but don't overlook the chicken! I am usually not one to rave about chicken from a restaurant - it's usually bland, dry, etc. Reid's chicken is AMAZING! The pulled pork can be good, but isn't my favorite item on their menu. The ribs are good - better than most I've had, but I'm partial to my own smoked ribs :-) Let's talk sides: the Mac and Cheese is GREAT! I don't generally like Mac and Cheese, but Redd's knows how I like it, and it's amazing every time. Hint: If you're up for a cheesy treat, order the cheese sauce on the side for your fries! The fries are seasoned well - fresh cut and cooked darker than most places, but it adds to the flavor. If you're in the area, this is the place to be. It's worth the wait, or even great for takeout! Warning, you will have leftovers!!

    If you want meat. Eat at redds. The beef brisket melts in your mouth. The baked beans are bangin. This is all I've ever eaten here. I've been there 5 times. But when you find something good, it's hard to not eat it. I've heard nothing but great things about this place! I just wish the bathroom had a changing table for young children.

    Best BBQ that I have had around Central PA... Had limited days open I think they were closed on Mondays and Tuesday's but I had heard that may have changed.. I always get the Sampler with Beef brisket, pulled pork and Ribs.. I usually enjoy the Mac and cheese and baked beans which are pretty awesome.. The pulled pork is probably my favorite and you always will leave satisfied.. I would also would say that their homemade BBQ sauces are out of this world in my opinion

    very impressed. devoured the Carolina cheese fries. best beef brisket I've had in years. reminded me of the stuff I got in tx growing up. it doesn't have the 'ring' of coloring... but it is the perfect amount of moist/tender. and the. best. brisket. I've had in ages. everything they make is dry rubbed. no sauce. so you have to like the sauce they provide... which is a bit different than what you may be used to. the smoked chicken sandwich was a 'good' CHICKEN sandwich. but I wouldn't recommend it. get something with more punch! next time I go i'm getting the brisket sandwich or brisket anything! didn't get a chance to try the wings... so much to choose from, not enough space to pack it all in!! ;o))

    Redd's was supposed to cater our wedding this year. However, no one has returned our phone calls in several weeks. The staff has been rude and unprofessional and it's quite upsetting they have screwed us like this. I will not be giving Redd's anymore business and you know what they say about bad business! I'll tell everyone about a bad experience 10 times over than I would about a good one. Sorry not sorry!

    Redd's makes the best brisket I've tasted this side of Texas (I grew up in Texas). The portions are large and the quality of the meat is great. Sides here are awesome, too. I'm partial to the baked beans and the seasoned corn. I really love the spicy BBQ sauce. Very tasty and keeps me wanting more. The restaurant itself is...humble. Not fancy. A few TVs. Servers have always been great, but it doesn't give a lot of ambiance. We have started just picking up orders. Beware...they get busy! The only disappointment has been the deserts. Someone told us the cobbler was a life-altering experience. Maybe the hype meant almost certain disappointment. The desert was decent, to be sure, but my life remained unchanged. Still, you don't go to a BBQ joint for the deserts. You go for the BBQ.

    Good pulled pork sandwich. Fresh cut sweet potato fries. Both very good. Only 1 complaint. The floors are like an oil slick. They are so greasy it makes you wonder how clean the kitchen is or isn't. Why not scrub the floors. If that doesn't bother you the food is a 4.

    Hands down the best BBQ spot in the area, the prices are reasonable and the potions are huge, overall a great value and really good food. I recommend getting the sampler, it comes with three choices of meat, two sides and a piece of cornbread. I really enjoy the smoked wings, pulled pork and the brisket. But the ribs and the chicken is also really good...makes it tough, when you only get to pick three. The sides that you can pick from are all homemade and are typical BBQ fare, mac&cheese, beans, slaw, sweet potato/regular fries, collard greens, etc... They also offer a catering service, we had them cater one of our events and the did an outstanding job, the food was delicious and there was plenty for everyone to eat. Even had a enough for leftovers. Redd's also makes their own sauces and rubs that you can purchase to take home. It's a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy some of these great tastes at their own cookout or even at the dining room table. You also have the option of dining in or carrying out...be sure to hit them up for some fantastic food. You won't be disappointed.

    I love this place. Brisket, wings and fall off the bone ribs. French fries are fresh cut. I like the baked beans but disappointed they are not cooked from scratch but canned beans with things added. They were listed on the Carlisle Restaurant Week website and I was going to bring in some out of town friends but when I enquired about Restaurant Week specials the waitress told me that they never do specials. Pity, we went somewhere else.

    Hands down, this is one of the best BBQ places I've ever eaten in my entire life. I enjoy Redd's once a month or so and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. My regular order is the Redd's Sampler, which includes my choice of three meats (I get pulled pork, brisket, and ribs), two side orders, and a piece of cornbread (also smoked). The sauces are unique. I'm used to thick, brown sugary BBQ sauce, but Redd's makes their own thinner sauce flavored more like a sweet ketchup (I usually use the Spicy Tomato BBQ - delicious!). The first time I tried it, I didn't like it, but that's because it was different than anything I had really tried before. Now, I actually get cravings for it when I've not had any for awhile! Redd's stands as a pinnacle of local business success. Carlisle is blessed to have such a great asset in our community!

    Who knew you could get such fantastic BBQ in Carlisle, PA! Deciding to take out from this place on probably one of the most inconvenient days to do so (the Corvettes at Carlisle Parade) a small group of us trekked out to this storefront in search of delicious smoked BBQ. This place came highly recommended and rightfully so! Despite the crowded nature of the restaurant due to the activity outside, our takeout order was entered quickly and we were promised our meal within 15 minutes. And let me tell you. . . our order was not small. 2 Pulled Pork Sandwiches, a couple Chicken Dinners, more than our share of Ribs, Chicken Fingers, and a plethora of baked beans, cole slaw, french fries, macaroni salad, collard greens, and mac n' cheese made up our meal for 8. Sure enough, we were back out walking the parade route with bags upon bags in hand for the quick trip home. My Pulled Pork sandwich was piled high with delectable, applewood smoked meat topped with their tomato based BBQ sauce. The french fries were crisp and the homemade mac n' cheese delicious. The piece of chicken I tasted was juicy and smokey. The aroma that filled the car and eventually the dining room was so inviting that many of us snacked on the leftovers for the remainder of the evening, even though we were all filled to the brim with BBQ goodness. Unfortunately, the place is not open on Monday's and Tuesday's. I don't live in the area so this does not affect me in the least, but I figured I'd throw it out there just in case!

    The brisket was good, you have to try the smoked wings. All of the sides were homeade.we had Mac and cheese, baked beans, fries and sweet potato fries. Ribs were okay, but I was not wowed by them. Dipping sauces were all good.

    Had the pulled pork.. Have to agree with William, it was kind of dry. Sauce on the table was the mustard based variety but they also had the spicy tomato based at the fixing bar. Will have to try their chicken dinner the next time around. Staff was friendly.

    Coming from the south I didn't expect much... The owner explained that the palate of northerners didn't take well to the vinegar based BBQ that I grew up with. How this is possible I don't know... However every item is quality and impeccably cooked... the fixings are the probably the best I have had (collards!). The meat is all spot on, but I still want a sauce that isn't so mild (think spice/vinegar)... He's just appealing to his customers so who can blame him... Not many BBQ people around. Will definitely go back.

    Redd's is my favorite BBQ joints around central PA. First of all, they offer a honey mustard BBQ sauce, regular BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, spicy BBQ sauce and a dry rub. I've tried each individually and love them all. The Honey mustard is my favorite followed by the spicy BBQ and dry rub. They also sell bottles for you to take home with you and they're worth every penny. Not on to the meat. The brisket is absolutely amazing. It literally melts in your mouth and has the perfect amount of smoked BBQ flavor. The loaded brisket sandwich with onions, peppers and cheese is huge, amazingly good and priced right. The wings fall right off the bone, they're absolutely perfect. The pulled pork is top notch as well. Some people like crispy deep fried wings, but I much prefer these. The sides are fine, no complaints but I don't come to a BBQ joint for side dishes. The only complaint I have is sometimes the waitstaff takes a little while, but at the same time you can call ahead, go right up to the counter and carry the stuff out yourself. This place may just be the best BBQ place in PA...to the owners, thanks for coming up here and bringing that South Carolina BBQ with you!

    We have been to Redd's several times before and yet again, it was wonderful when we went there for lunch today. The only difference was since we'd been there last, which was admittedly a few months ago, they changed over to a full service wait staff. I think I preferred walking up and ordering my own, but I'll still be back for more as the food is fantastic. Love the pulled pork and brisket and the multiple sauces you can select at your table to top it and I also tried the smoked chicken salad today. Very tasty. We like the homestyle french fries as well and the seasoning is very tasty. I've seen the option to purchase both the sauces and fry seasoning and I may just have to pick some up on my next visit!! Also worth noting is the prices are FANTASTIC for the amount of food you get. Most sandwich platters are $6.95 and I always leave with a to-go box. The place was packed and given how tasty the food was, I understand why! On our way out I noticed the restaurant is BYOB too. Will definitely be returning!!

    I wish Yelp let us give half stars, as this place is better than 3 but maybe not quite 4. I was hesitant to try barbecue in PA, as I've been burned a few times. It's not that I'm a food snob...it's just that experience has shown me, time and again, that the best barbecue comes from the places where it originated. But there's very little food between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, so we detoured to downtown Carlisle to give some smoked meat a try. I'm fairly opinionated about barbecue, and this place is pretty good. I went for the 3 meat combo, and chose ribs, pulled pork and a quarter chicken dark meat with collard greens and baked beans. The platter arrived with some nice char on the ribs and chicken, and both had a noticeable charcoal flavor, so they're either smoking on charcoal or finishing these on a charcoal grill. Or both. Usually, I don't really like charcoal as a smoking/finishing medium, but it was not overpowering, and everything tasted carefully prepared and fresh. The spice rub they're using is simple, and it doesn't interfere with the flavor of the meat itself. The pulled pork was delicious, if a tad bit salty. All of the meats came un-sauced (thank you Redd's) and I sampled the 3 sauces available on the table, a mild tomato based sauce, a spicier tomato based sauce and a honey mustard sauce. All were delicious and all went well with the meats. I especially liked the mustard sauce on the chicken, and the spicy tomato based sauce, which had a nice amount of black pepper and not too much heat, was great with the ribs. The baked beans were very good...simple and no nonsense. The collard greens were a little weird, and tasted of the butter they put into them. I usually like butter on just about anything, but I've never had it in collard greens, and it wasn't good. Other than that, the greens were perfectly cooked with nice bits of pork in the mix. Service is very friendly and almost too attentive, but the waitresses were very sweet and seemed truly interested in our opinion of the food. One described their food as "cravable", but I'm not sure I'd go that far. I've had some barbecue in Alabama that I crave, and some in Memphis that I really look forward to returning for, but this place is just shy of that mark. One of the girls said to us, "You'll be back", and she's no doubt right.

    If you can wait, the food is excellent. Sunday afternoon lunch took well over an hour before we were out the door. (Party of five) Long wait to have orders taken, for the check, and for payments to be taken. The chicken was delicious though, as were the sides. Everything tasted completely home made.

    Difficult to review, mostly because of it's location. Redds is in Pennsylvania. A state that does not have the cultural or culinary history for barbeque. The owners are from South Carolina, and it shows. South Carolina's pulled pork (the true bbq) is 2nd only to North Carolina's. Growing up in the heart of coastal carolina, I tend to be very, very picky about bbq. As a result my reviews of "Barbeque restaurants" north of the Mason Dixon line tend to be cruel. I admit it. If you're a fan of Carolina style pulled pork you'll be slightly disappointed-the meat doesn't have the vinegar based sauce. That sauce is nowhere to be found BUT they do have lots of other really great (mild) sauces, and their dry-rub is FANTASTIC. The meat? tender, moist and plentiful The coleslaw (a staple of any pulled-pork sandwich) is creamy and very good.

    I have only been once since they moved into the restaurant space. I used to go often when they were in the trailer. Maybe I just hit it on a bad day, but I was disappointed. The food was better out of the trailer. At the restaurant I found the meat to be a bit dry and the sweet potato fries were overly soggy and lukewarm.i'm not a huge fan of their sauces either. I spent 28 years in KC and was spoiled by their barbecue. I'll try it again sometime, but I'm not going to race back.

    Stopped here on road trip across PA. Found the place as BBQ on our way - we always stop for BBQ on the road. This place was great. The dry rub on the ribs was excellent, the brisket was juicy and the pulled was fine. One of the best measures of good BBQ places is the quality of the sides and the slaw and mac-n-cheese was very good. Oh, and they have sweet potato fries. Good sweet potato fries. Definitely will mark Redd's as a place to stop on return trips.

    If I hadn't had so much *really* good barbecue in my travels around the US (particularly Memphis and North Carolina), I'd probably have given this four stars. I mean, given the other dining options available in Carlisle, this is definitely one of the best I've had in quite a long time. That said, it's still not quite as good as the real thing (plus, I'm more a Memphis-style BBQ fan). At any rate, the meats are well prepared. I ordered the sampler (choice of three of their five meats) platter - got the 1/4 rack of ribs, quarter chicken and the pulled pork with a side of baked beans and corn. The ribs were just about perfectly done: pretty much fall off the bone yet still moist. They had a decent spice rub, but could have done with a wider selection of sauces. I like a good spice-sauce, but all they had were mild sauces and Texas Pete. While Texas Pete is good for adding heat, it's not an adequate substitute for a real spicy barbecue sauce. The chicken was like the ribs - fall off the bone yet still most and nicely spice-rubbed. The pulled pork was moist, but not-quite bland, and would have really benefited from good table-sauces. The corn was basic niblets in juice. The baked beans were competent but nothing to write home about. The corn bread was robust if a bit drier than I normally like. Still for being in central PA, a really good option if you've a craving for barbecue. Note: we were in Carlisle visiting relatives. We'd happened to notice, "that place looks new" and when our relatives asked what we wanted to do about dinner, we asked if they knew whether the barbecue was any good. They hadn't heard of the place, but have now decided to frequent the place. Only real down note, other than the lack of sauces, was that the service was a bit rushed. I *REALLY* don't like when the wait-staff drops the check on my table before I'm even halfway done eating. It's especially annoying when they come back to see if I've signed and I'm still not done with my meal. This was probably the real reason I gave them three rather than four stars.

    Excellent pork ribs. The meat falls off the bone and the rub really pops. Three bbq sauces to pick from. Service was very attentive and friendly.

    The barbecue here's top-notch some of the best that I've ever had!!! The employees were extremely nice and it was even at a good price too! Had the sampler quarter chicken, quarter rack of ribs, and pork barbecue.

    I have been going to this for the last few years (even before it was a actually restaurant and just a trailer). It's nice that they actually have seats now and the food is just as good. The ribs, pulled pork, and chicken are extremely good. The sauces (they have created more recently) are well done and its nice that you can put your own amount on. The sampler platter is my go to order...gives you everything that is good at an easy price to digest. Only issue...bring back the homemade lemonade!

    This is the best barbeque in Central PA (although to be fair, there's not a ton of competition...). I loved Redd's when it was a truck, and I love it still now that it has a storefront. The pulled pork is excellent, as are the ribs. The baked beans are the best I've ever had, made with chunks of onion and bacon. My brother loves the wings -- they're smoked pink, then fried. You get your choice of two sauces, and both are on the table so you can try both. I prefer the slightly spicy tomato-based sauce, but the honey mustard sauce is also quite good.

    The food is fine, not great. The meat tends to be dry. Stay away from the corn bread. The service has gone way down hill in recent months. Some servers act like your presence is a major inconvenience and either ignore you or practically push you out the door. If you get takeout, expect the wait to be at least twice as long as they tell you. I generally don't mind if food takes a while, but I would prefer if they were up front about it. Expect mounds of styrofoam packaging with each takeout order. I want this place to be better than it is. It has some potential, but sadly falls short.

    Returned this Sunday and got three flavors wings to eat while a friend and I watched football. The Tomato sauce was a nice BBQ sauce. The honey mustard sauce was as good as I remembered it from my last trip. I also tried the Spicy Tomato sauce and was very excited. It was spicy enough to give the wings kick, but not so spicy that I was in pain by the end. Redd's makes me wish I had more excuses to visit Carlisle.

    Best BBQ in Cumberland County. Hands down. (arguably in Central PA) Just writing this review makes me (and my roommates) want more. The architecture of Redd's is unassuming. But the father son team that reside within mean business about their BBQ. The Mauldin family, South Carolina natives, bring a special kind of flavor to their business which seems forgotten these days. Enjoy their humble dining facilities (chairs and umbrellas) on a sunny day with your food and some great conversation with the chefs. Must try: BBQ sampler + home made baked beans OR house slaw + sweet potato fries. Best sauces: Carolina-style honey mustard BBQ OR Tomato based BBQ (both excellent)

    So Redds opened a sit down restaurant finally...i was so excited since I love this place. Was so disappointed. They changed their ribs from a thick individual cut to a thin slab like you can get anywhere else like applebees. What a shame. The previous recipe/cut were the best ribs I have ever had! The pulled pork which I stole from my husband plate after my disappointment, was very good. We did mention this to the owner, hope others will catch his ear too.

    Pleasantly surprised! After living in Texas, with a husband who is from Missouri (both states have AWESOME BBQ), we were skeptical about Pennsylvania BBQ. This place was actually pretty good! I had the loaded brisket sandwich and my husband had a ribs. My sandwich was awesome. Both meats were nice and tender. The ribs could have had a little more flavor but overall they were good. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because of their BBQ sauce. It's watery and the flavors were a little off. The only one I liked was the Honey Mustard one and that was only OK. Maybe next time we'll just order take out and use our own BBQ sauce at home :)

    Best BBQ around. Their pulled pork and brisket is some of the best I've ever had. Staff is always friendly and the place is always busy! A great place for takeout or a great spot to grab something with family or friends. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
