The inn keepers are amazing in their gracious hospitality. We arrived on their doorstep without a reservation and was lucky that they had a room left. When we said we needed to leave early the next morning, they packed us a breakfast to take. It was an amazing smoked salmon quiche that was too die for!!! They also included some yogurt and juice. The rooms are fantastic in comfort and convenience and you feel like you are in a luxurious atmosphere. The inn keepers recommended an italian restaurant for dinner that was within walking distance and it was amazing. What a great overnight stay. Definitely a place to return to. The town of Carlyle is actually very lovely and has lots to offer.

Ok, I know this is a 5 star review (should be 10). I'll start with the "issue". If you stay in the Ewing room, you'll hear street noise and for some reason, the Carlisle police and fire/EMS guys were REALLY busy this weekend (probably the 300,000 people coming to town for the car show). So you'll hear sirens...Tim and Carolyn are working on it and hopefully will solve it soon. Now...to the rest. WOW! Even though they just took over the B&B a few weeks ago, you wouldn't know it. They had the check in down, they had breakfast tasty, and awesome everyday. The grounds were immaculate, as was the B&B. I didn't use the jacuzzi, but I'm sure it would have been nice. Love the dual shower heads! Comfy 4 poster king size bed. TV was nicely adjustable to watch from the comfy chair or the bed. Good spot for the desk area, which had a 6 outlet strip available for plugging things in. Phone as well. Service was top notch by the housekeepers. I've already reserved next year. It's that good. You need to stay here. Be a LOCAL. Parking can get tight as some may take up 2 spots. Not a fan of that. Love the distance to the Carlisle Fairgrounds and that the B&B is DOWNTOWN. Yeah, downtown Carlisle. Small town PA. AWESOME! Great restaurants all around. As for the former owners? Mary and Alan even stopped by during my stay to say hi to several guests. I informed them their former business was in great hands. Very cool to meet them.

As a Dickinson grad, I can firmly vouch that this is the best place to stay in town! Central to everything, friendly staff and wonderful accommodations.

Great place to stay in Carlisle. Very friendly owners. The rooms are spacious, the beds extremely comfy with supportive mattresses, and the biscotti in the guest room are addicting. Breakfast was a little on the small side though. Regardless, if we wind up returning to visit Carlisle we will definitely stay here!

Mary and Alan are truly great hosts. I felt instantly at home and relaxed as soon as I came in the front door. The rooms are so nice and have a lot of modern features while maintaining their historical value. I LOVED the jacuzzi! The sheets were the best sheets I have ever slept on in my life! I really enjoyed my stay, and will definitely be back sometime soon! Oh and I ALMOST forgot... The breakfast is out of this world! Coffee is great too (and this is coming from a professional barista)

My fiance and I live in Chambersburg and were looking for a quiet weekend getaway. Months ago, the bartender from Cafe Bruges in Carlisle (one of our favorite places) told us about this great B&B just around the corner, so we decided to check in and check it out. I'm so glad we did! The Carlisle House is fantastic and Mary and Alan are exceptional hosts! The house has great history and charm, yet the rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms up-to-date. (I believe each room has a private bathroom.) Our room, the Rose Room, was well appointed, especially the bed, which had wonderful linens! Breakfast exceeded all expectations- we greatly enjoyed the quiche, fresh fruit, juice and other goodies! We also appreciated the great restaurant recommendations and tips provided by our hosts. Even though we are familiar with the area, Mary and Alan were able to direct us to some hidden gems we had previously overlooked and tell us some neat facts about some of our favorite local places. I enthusiastically recommend the Carlisle House for anyone looking for a quiet weekend getaway!

We love to stay at Bed and Breakfasts. It's the only way to travel. Mary and Allen at The Carlisle House always go way and above expectations. With great rooms, lots of history, FANTASTIC BREAKFAST!!! The best food of any B&B we've ever been too. We make it a point to try and stay there once a year even if it's just to get away for a night. They have simple rooms to whirlpool rooms. Beautifully decorated and historically remembered. We can't say enough just go and find out why they are always voted the BEST!!

I could go on and on about what I loved about this absolutely amazing bed and breakfast. One of the best getaways in the state. The room was perfect and breakfast was awesome. The surrounding town is great with plenty of stuff to do and great food. I highly recommend this special place.

When we got back from Austin and the Lonestar Round Up and we were speaking with our friends, one of them mentioned that we HAD TO go to Carlisle to check out their car show. At the time the first one of the season was coming up but there were no rooms left to be had. Well, them thar's fighting words! I quickly jumped on the internet and found us a space at a chain hotel but for some reason a little birdie told me to check yelp. I am glad I did because I found Carlisle House which is just the type of accommodation I love to visit. A Victorian B&B. The B&B is centrally located in the charming city of Carlisle and is essentially in walking distance of all the shops and restaurants but not the fairground. The streets are lined with historic architecture and beautiful doorways and there is a photo op waiting at every turn. Certainly the local law enforcement officials think so as there are traffic cameras everywhere it seems... We stayed in the room on the first floor, the Ewing. My main gripe with it was that it was dated meaning it needs some love. There is an impressive Ben Franklin type fireplace insert amid more late 20th century decor and more pedestrian contemporary finishes (shower walls) and the layout is a little awkward. For example the shower was large but was just a few feet away from the end of the King sized four poster bed so to use it there was no, for lack of a better word, private space. The sink and toilet were in another area. And to use the shower one should close the curtains to the room as it does face the street though it is a bit raised from view but yes one can look in. I am all for a little mystery so I prefer a bath area that is a little more out of direct view. The bed was large and comfortable and the mini fridge was well stocked with complimentary water and also provided a spot for my own brought in soy milk. The hosts, Mary and Allen, were super nice and very helpful and gave us suggestions for dining out. But I must say the quiche we had for breakfast was fantastic and better than anything we had elsewhere that weekend! Each morning we were upon our day with full bellies and a smile on our faces. We would love to stay there again as the plusses outweighed the non-plusses but think we would choose a different room. I did a little exploring upstairs and there seem to be some promising prospects for next time. And bonus free wifi and off street parking behind the building. Until then! youtube.com/watch?v=HBAe…
