I work at wedding venue and recently have seen displays of mini desserts from Carlisle Bakery. With that said- I've been dying to try this bakery out!! Let me just say- not only is the bakery the best around this area but the staff is amazing, outgoing, and friendly. I got the chocolate mousse mini torte....really good. Presented on a white dish with a real fork (not a disposable one). I couldn't finish it and was offered a box to take it home in. My husband had a cannoli & loved it. He said it was way better then PA Bakery. I was really impressed- the front window displays are warm and inviting. I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone looking for a warm treat or a cool one- they have hand-dipped Hershey's ice cream! To those looking for desserts or cakes for parties this is the place to be. And lastly, to brides- don't miss this place...very reasonable prices and very accommodating staff.
Lost our cake order. Came to pick up the cake on the morning of the event to find it had not been made. "yeah - I remember you placed the order but we can't find the order form", No apology - no solution. We went to the bakery in Wegman's for a pinch-hit. Cakes were AMAZING while they had Dingledein in the kitchen. Has taken a nose-dive (from bad to worse) since he moved on.

I've never been to this place before. So I ordered a wide range of delights. The turnovers, I got cherry, are wonderful. The flakey crust and delicious filling are truly delightfull. The cannoli is great but it doesn't have the same flavor as when I spent time in Rome or Naples. May be a regional thing, like most things in Europe are. The sticky buns rival the State College sticky buns. No that's not a sick joke. The place on college ave is hard to beat but Carlisle bakery has found real competition for best bun. The cheesecake....not so good avoid it.

what a great addition to Carlisle. we just stopped in for donuts on a friday morning. they were great, and they were big. i had to get the PB cream filled, chocolate covered with PB chips on top. the thing weighed a ton. the place had a nice set up. i am looking forward to going back and trying some food and other bakery items.

Got some stuff here. I tried the cheesecake and it was so dry, not creamy at all. I also had a lemon square and it was the same, dry. The place looked nice and you can see them making the deserts, but I would not buy there again. Their staff is good but the deserts were bland, dry, and just no. Please note I ate the lemon square the same day and the cheesecake the next day, so in no way were they old on my part. And I did get some other things that I did not mention in the review.

I enjoyed a coffee and croissant as i watched the Corvettes drive by the other weekend. The croissant was great, flaky and slight eggy which I liked. The coffee was just ok. Not hot enough, not high quality. The cases were not chalk-full of goodies so I was interested to read here that you can ask for more than seems available. The layout of the inside is strange and the place looks dull from the front. They need an interior designer to make the place more inviting. I look forward to seeing the business develop!

I ordered a two tiered "princess" cake for my daughter's first birthday last September. The agreed upon design included gemstone embellishments (which I provided), the number "1" and her name "Abby" placed on the cake in fondant letters/numbers. I paid for the cake in full upon placing the order. I was told my cake would be available by 12 noon on her birthday. My husband arrived promptly at 11:50am, the cake was not finished. Not only that, they lost the original order slip with my name and information. No problem at this point yet, they managed to figure out which cake he was there to pick up based on other handwritten notes lying around. He waited until 12:15pm. Finally, he was given a cake that did not include most of the embellishments I provided, including a bow topper, or even her name. This was a rush job on their part and the sad thing is, Dingeldein's did my wedding cake and did a fantastic job. Will not repeat the mistake of ordering a cake for a special occasion here. The cake looked lackluster and incomplete in our pictures.

This place isn't bad. I guess I just have high expectations. I agree that the set up in here is a little wonky. There are a bunch of different boards all over the the place and writing on the empty cases. Honestly its slightly confusing. My 100th review! (It HAD to be a bakery lol)... We came here with a Living Social voucher this morning ($5 for $10) and were extremely pleased with the service and selection and quality of their bakery items. According to their website, "Carlisle Bakery is a full service bakery specializing in cakes, pies, pastries, cheesecakes, fudge, wedding cakes, pet treats and we serve Hershey's Ice Cream." Although they only had a self serve coffee station, it was decked out with all the essentials including a variety of creamer and sugar options. Notably, they have a delicious broccoli and cheese quiche, and their chocolate croissants are to die for. A lot of people say Panera's chocolate croissants are the gold standard, but I'm thinking Carlisle Bakery's chocolate croissants come pretty darn close--actually sorry Panera, I actually think CB's are better!! The customer service was awesome as we had no problems redeeming our Living Social voucher. The girl behind the counter was courteous, friendly, engaging, and SUPER sweet. The venue itself is large and spacious, yet warm and inviting. This is a great place to meet with friends, lounge by yourself, or catch up on some reading! I can't wait to come back for another quiche and croissant combo!

I love this place. Is it the best bakery ever? No - I am in love with a little bakery in Brooklyn that blows this one out of the water. However, in Carlisle - it's pretty great. I usually get a treat here about once a month and they have always been amazing. My favorite is the peanut butter chocolate cakes, but I also love the cannolis. My son absolutely loves the cookies they have as well. I had the cinnamon rolls before they changed them, and they were pretty great - I've not had the new ones. Overall I've never had anything bad here, and we will continue to go. I have never had anything but AMAZING service, and that's with me hemming and hawing for ten minutes deciding what goody I wanted.

These people have excellent customer service. They treated my husband and I so kindly when we told them our circumstance. They worked within our budget and made us 2 fantastic cakes for our wedding at such good prices! I was blown away. The cake was so good! One was raspberry creme I believe and the other had layers of strawberry. It had to be the best wedding cake I've ever had and I'm not just being biased. Wow! I was so happy with our choice to hire them for such an important occasion. They really came through!

I was not sure this place was going to make it, but on Christmas Eve the place was busy and doing great business. Unfortunately they had run out of some items. The cash register seems to be in the wrong place, in the middle of the two serving counters. When they have long lines it is crowded. They would be better having a cash register at the end where the dog biscuits are so there is a clockwise flow of service and payment. I think people are looking for a place where they can get a quality breakfast and not your usual diner fare. The owners should take a run down to the Gettysburg Bakery in Biglerville and see the type of higher end breakfast and lunch being served in their small 20 seat Pomona Restaurant.

Not bad, was hoping for a larger selection and more inventive offerings though. Had the chili and a chocolate cupcake both of which were homemade and pretty good. Do not really like the layout of the store, and I can never tell if it is open or closed by looking through the window while driving by

Okay, so the food is pretty good and prices are really good! I've only been in here once, so I know I'm judging pretty quick but...the SERVICE is AWFUL! I went in to order a simple cake. The young woman at the counter had no idea what any of the cakes were. I ask if the cakes were layered...she said, "I honestly have no idea that not my department. But does that matter to you?" It's not a huge bakery, there shouldn't be departments and she made me feel dumb by asking about it. Of course, it matters. I want to know what my cake will be like. If you are going to work the front, you should know everything there is to know about the store. Then, I looked around at the baked goods and asked her about the napoleons. She said, "I'm going to let you know that those aren't fresh. They've been sitting in the fridge for a few days, but I'm sure they are edible." EDIBLE??? I don't want just EDIBLE! The pastries ended up being VERY GOOD, but she didn't give me confidence for their store.

A new bakery in downtown Carlisle with local owners. I've had the opportunity to try lots of their delicious treats... Some of my favorites are the jalapeño bread, cake pops, sticky buns, and strawberry shortcake. Their cakes are also amazing and so well decorated! I've heard really good things about their pasta bread with onions, cream cheese and poppy seeds. They have tons of options and are always making improvements upon their menu. They also have lunch- the chicken salad is really good and you can get it served in a bread bowl. I was too full for their Hershey's ice cream but it would be good on another summer day. I will definitely be making another trip soon!

Nice modern bakery in the Carlisle Historic District, one block past the center of town on South Hanover Street. Plenty of room for sitting, studying, chatting, or knitting; as you like. The main products appear to be great looking cupcakes, both filled and traditional, plus large cookies in many flavors, fruit squares, brownies and donuts. Standing at the cashier you can look into the working end of the business and watch the owner/baker putting things from large bowls onto smaller trays and into the ovens. My son and I tasted the Glazed Donuts (excellent), Lemon Squares (excellent), Peanut Butter, Sugar and Chocolate Chip Cookies (large and very good), and the Red Velvet Cake Moon Pie (One Sweet Red Mess to eat). All worth returning for more. The only weak link was the coffee. They do the thermos pump thing and put it off to one side, where it seems to be forgotten. Mine was barely above room temperature and well past its prime. I guess they only say they are a bakery for a reason. They don't pretend to be a café. Too bad, because with good coffee, this place could be a home run.

The chocolate chip cookies were amazing, my daughter loved her cotton candy ice cream, my husband devoured the loaf of sourdough bread we brought home for him. Oh...and Morgan was smiling and helpful with suggestions throughout our visit!

Always enjoy coming here with the kid for a treat. Had the Eclair, it was good and the coffee was great.

Full of tasty treats!

Carlisle Bakery did my wedding cake, and I could not have been more pleased. In my opinion, it was the best wedding cake I have ever had. Tons of guests said it was absolutely delicious. They also did a fabulous job of listening to what I wanted and realizing the dream design I had in my head. It looked just perfect.

I have not had one thing from here that I have not loved. Recently it was this three layer vanilla whipped cream style frosting cake!

So I went here with my daughter on a Momma-Daughter Date and can't wait to go back. We had Yummy donuts and truffles. I Can't wait to try the bread. I recommend this bakery. I will add to the review once I try the bread.

I usually get the cookies and they are good. I tried the cake once and was impressed.

(5)Cheryl M.
I don't know who would say that this bakery has had bad service, because I have never once run into that problem here!!! The girls out front are always smiling and friendly, I even had a great experience ordering a cake over the phone! Great treats, I love it here!
(5)Pla T.
They have the best oatmeal raisin cookies! It's chewy and it just melts in your mouth!

Has taken a nose-dive (from bad to worse) since he moved on.

what a great addition to Carlisle. we just stopped in for donuts on a friday morning. they were great, and they were big. i had to get the PB cream filled, chocolate covered with PB chips on top. the thing weighed a ton. the place had a nice set up. i am looking forward to going back and trying some food and other bakery items.

When I came in to get doughnuts for fausnaught day I looked around and noticed the display cases were empty. What kind of bakery doesn't have things sitting out...? There are a bunch of different boards all over the the place and writing on the empty cases. Honestly its slightly confusing. Since the cases were empty and I couldn't see it on any of the 4 boards, I asked the girl behind the counter if they had doughnuts. She looked at me as if I asked her if she breathed oxygen or something. Of course they had them. That being said, the doughnuts were okay (I admit I'm not the best judge since I don't like them), but others said they enjoyed them. Overall besides all the disorganization, not bad.

I bought a cake there for my daughter's birthday last month and t was very tasty, very chocolate! They had it all ready to go for us, including a beautiful piece of white chocolate with her name in script. I do need to say I don't understand why people would write a review in July from an order in September but okay. I would recommend Carlisle Bakery and wish it was in Mechanicsburg.
