Great cafe on Carlisle's downtown, right next to the Library. Nice atmosphere; seems small from the outside but it is actually very spacious after all and there is some outdoor seating as well. I really enjoyed the 60s music they played too. Service was swift and friendly. It turns out that the tuna sandwich IS as good as their menu says it is. However, the real find here is the Texas chili - they've hit a home run with it. I definitely plan to return.

Visiting my sister at college, she brought us to this little place. My wife and I really enjoyed the feel and atmosphere of the outdoor seating. The service was timely and friendly. The Greek soup wasn't quite what I expected. It was decent but nothing special. The Greek salad was very good, replete with quality/fresh/colorful ingredients and generous serving of feta cheese. The vegetarian chili was very good too.

Amazing food and well priced! I've never eaten in the restaurant, always done pick up, but my orders have always been finished quickly and the staff has always been pleasant. Highly recommended to anyone who loves a great gyro and delicious Greek salad!!

Back Door Café is aptly named, as to get in you have to walk down the alley alongside the building it is in and make your way to the Back Door. You walk in amidship, with the kitchen to your right, and the larger than expected dining room to the left. On this snowy February Saturday afternoon, I, too was the sole patron in the house, and the friendly server walked me all the way to the front of the room to sit at the table in the street level window overlooking High Street. From that vantage point I watched the accumulating snow start to play its slippery games with traffic and pedestrians alike. The menu made it clear that this was a Greek establishment. Fine with me. I asked what it was best known for, and found out that their tuna creation was their signature dish. I ordered the Nutty Tuna Wrap with a side Caesar Salad, and sipped Hot Tea as I waited. Within 10 minutes my plate arrived. The Wrap was extra large and the Romaine was fresh and covered in grated Cheese and Croutons, while the dressing was just enough without drowning the greens. The Tuna was really very good. It was slightly sweet and had a reddish cast. The thin sliced Almonds were a great addition, bringing crunchy texture to each bite. It was about the best commercially produced Tuna Salad I had tasted; even better than momma used to make. I lingered with my second mug of tea, realizing that the wintry weather was going to strand me in Carlisle this night, and thus I needn't rush. I booked an hotel nearby that was recommended by my server without leaving my seat, paid the bill, and braced myself for the brisk walk back to my car that was parked behind the White Elephant across High Street (That had been my intended destination, but it was closed when I attempted to open the door.) Funny that it was now open as I walked through the alley leading to their parking lot. Fate had played me a winning hand this day.

Met colleagues for lunch here and sat outside under a large umbrella. Service was fast, very friendly, and food was good. We all had sandwiches. Mine was nothing special to write home about but decent. For about $10 including beverage price seemed to be on par with rest of the area. Desserts looked delicious but did not try them. Solid lunch option.

I'm easy to please when it comes to these kinds of quick-stop lunch places. The menu is surprisingly large, the location is great, and the service was fast and nice. They had a summer gazpacho, which I got with a side house salad. The gazpacho was perfection, the salad....boring and small.

Great food and great ambience. A cute little cafe. I had a special--spinach and artichoke Mac and cheese--and it was amazing. Served with a side Greek salad. My kids and husband enjoyed their meals as well. A great selection of wraps and salads.

Just passing thru and spotted this little cafe. I was the only patron due to the hour. Ordered the almond tuna wrap and Caesar salad with coffee. It was exactly what I expected, fresh and delicious. More than I could eat so I've got enough for a late snack. Service was great, atmosphere cozy and clean. Wish I lived closer so I could try more items but it's bookmarked!

This cafe is so cute and makes you feel right at home! The food is really cheap but has good portions. The tuna salad is AMAZING. I dream about it when I'm away from the area.

Loved the gyro! What a great restaurant in the heart of Carlisle. It's got a good cozy atmosphere with a fireplace. I parked on the street and walked in. I had friends that went here throughout High School, but I didn't try it until now....dumb move on my part. The waitress was helpful and I didn't feel rushed after I was done to leave so they could seat someone else. I got to enjoy my kid free dinner with a little bit of reading afterward. I would definitely recommend this place. Next time, I'll bring my hubby as it was his favorite restaurant, but he hasn't had time to come back.

We stopped in Carlisle to walk around and get something to eat without knowing that it was First Friday. Things were not yet in full swing but it looked like it would be a fun evening. After checking out numerous displays and stores we found the Back Door Cafe. The children decided we should sit at the only 4 person table in the alleyway (right next to the ancient, heat-belching window air conditioner). There were only 3 chairs so I walked out front and found a matching (high) chair. Not a soul was seated at any of the tables on the sidewalk - all prepped for the Friday night crowd. The waitress seemed flustered that I did this and even went so far as to comment that she "probably" wont get in trouble for this. So, MY money is no better than the POSSIBLE income of the customers who have yet to arrive. This set me into a bad tone for the rest of my visit. I guess the 4th person in my party should have just stood. Our food was good. Averagely good. The tuna sandwich I had was in no way the "Best Tuna Sandwich in ____________" that it was billed as in the menu. The portions were small for the money and the measely amount of chips is another pet peeve of mine. Chips in bulk are cheap and throwing a teeny few on my plate is poor service. Would I return here? Yes. But only after I had tried a few other places in this food-rich town. I think I would try to get inside seating and see if the atmosphere there made up for the stress and drama of the chair move. These funky little college-town shops need a happy, funky carefree attitude to go with the decor. Wasnt happening here on this visit.
