This place has the best cheese steaks! If you going for lunch get there early the place does get busy!

Made to order cheesesteaks that will quench anyone's craving! I usually go with the little original Philly (smaller roll, whiz, add some mushrooms, and marinara = perfection!) I haven't felt the need to try anything else on the menu; but rumor has it the subs are just as fresh & tasty, made with quality ingredients. Order yours to go to pair perfectly with an ice cold beer. If you dine in, make sure to treat yourself to a PA Birch Beer. Service is prompt & efficient. Super casual atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Simply amazing.

Bland meat Chewy bread Good service for a walk-up order place Cleanliness was about 7/10 Price fair Would not return simply because the sandwich was just not that good

I saw that this place had overwhelming reviews and convinced my friends to try it out. I'm happy to report that all the stories that the reviews said were true - one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever eaten! Having just sampled some of the best places in Philadelphia a few months back, I can objectively say that these folks have managed to capture the taste of the city for us in Camp Hill. I highly recommend the original philly with whiz - it's the best measure of a cheesesteak! The staff was very friendly too!

I was visiting on a business trip and stumbled on this place. OMG!! I had the best sandwich ever. The staff were hospitable and the price decent for what I ordered. You have got to eat here if you need a good steak sandwich.

My husband ordered us take out. The guy was super helpful and placed multiple toppings for us into little containers since we were out of towners and weren't sure what we wanted for fixings. The cheesesteak was good. Definitely go with the whiz. My husband regrets trying the one without the whiz.

I grew up in Syracuse, NY and have had the distinct pleasure to devour some delicious cheesesteak sandwiches. Despite how tasty those may have been, they paled in comparison to what i just devoured at Philadelphia Steaks & Hoagies, Inc. I can definitely say that I have never had a legitimate cheesesteak until I ate here the other day on my first visit to the Harrisburg area. Holy crap. Below i will thoroughly break down the major factors that contributed to the 5-star rating. The roll: this is what wet dreams are made of. I am the definition of a bread-snob, so when I tell you that this roll is the perfect vessel upon which your sandwich is delivered -- I sincerely mean it. This may be the all-star component of the entire sandwich. It is soft and squishy on the inside, yet slightly chewy on the outside. This ensures that the interior of the cheesesteak is melty and moist, but it doesn't soak through to the outside making a soggy mess. Perfect roll Roll: 5 / 5 The Meat; Exceptionally well-seasoned, tender, moist, and a little bit greasy. The greasiness may turn-off some people, but I personally like it. Am I clogging an artery or two with every bite? Maybe so. But it is worth it! Meat: 5 / 5 The Cheese: So you get the choice of Whiz, American, or Provolone. Each has its own distinct advantage, and I could see myself ordering each depending on my mood, but I can definitively say that the Whiz is the best. The Whiz is a component required to create an effect that I call the 'orgasm-in-my-mouth-moment'. This is the effect when you get a bite of cheesesteak that includes steak, roll, Whiz, mayo, and hot pepper relish all conglomerated into a messy, gooey, and undefinable mass of awesomeness, that bursts with the unique flavor combination of each component in your mouth. Occasionally, the orgasm-in-my-mouth-moment spreads to other regions of the body. I have termed this, the 'culinary G-Spot'. Cheese: Provolone (4) American (4) Whiz (5) / 5 The Toppings: You get the choice of hot pepper relish, sweet (pickled) peppers, diced onions, and mayo for free toppings. You can add mushrooms, lettuce, or tomatoes for extra. Personally, as described above, my 'jam' is hot pepper relish, Whiz, and mayo for toppings. I may try mushrooms at some point, but I am so incredibly satisfied with my current selection, that I may not challenge it. The sweet pickled peppers are really nice to eat on their own, and I am not a fan of the diced onions. Personally, I may like them more if they caramelized them a bit more. In addition, off to the side there is a little toppings area with banana peppers, cheery peppers, and other goodies that you can add, or just eat. I like that kind of stuff, despite how non-exciting they are. Toppings 5 / 5 Overall Sandwich Rating: Like I mentioned above, although I have had cheesesteaks before, I have never had a Philly Cheesesteak before -- and oh how amazing it was. Philadelphia Steaks and Hoagies didn't just set the bar for which I will judge every other cheesesteak, they are currently in a league and a category completely on their own. I will update this review and this rating if I am able to find a Philly Cheesesteak that stacks-up. Sandwich: 5 / 5 Fries: Nothing special, but they came right off-the-fryer and were piping-hot. They werent seasoned particularly well, so I just salted them myself. I firmly believe that the addition of Whiz and bacon would -- literally-- blow my mind. Overall Food: 5 / 5 Service: I was actually relatively surprised to get better-than-average service at an establishment such as this. Maybe it is because Memphis service is so awful on nearly every fundamental level that this place seemed better by default? I don't know, but despite that, I felt welcomed here, and received friendly; but hurried service. It was very busy though. Service: 4 / 5 Atmosphere: There is nothing exciting here to note, but it feels like an authentic sub shop / eatery from the northeast. It executes on its brand perfectly, even if it doesn't have high quality furnishings, or earth-tone tile floors with marbled wall sconces. I dig this place. Atmosphere: 4 / 5 Price: $5.25 for the best cheesesteak of my life, with piping-hot fries? Ummm... I'd pay $10 for this. Price: 5 / 5 Final Thoughts: As I already alluded to earlier in this review, this is the best Philly Cheesesteak I have ever eaten, and look forward to many more from here.

This is the best cheesesteak on the west shore and is the sister location to the restaurant downtown (previously reviewed). This is where I go if I need my fix on the weekends. I've only ever had the regular and chicken cheesesteaks; small sub, fries and drink special. Both are delicious and the portion is more than enough for one person while the price is $8.05 out the door. This place is almost always busy, especially at peak times. Grab one wit, wit-out, whatever. Enjoy.

Friendly enough service, but a bit underwhelming on the sandwich front for me. The bread was soft, but had no real crust or chew to it, so it wasn't much more than a vehicle for the meat and cheese. While those were both fine, they weren't so amazing that they made up for the lack of really good bread. Overall not a bad sandwich by any means, but I've definitely had better cheesesteaks.

Having never had the pleasure of eating an original cheese steak from the famous restaurants in Philly, I can't imagine them being better than the ones here. Cooked hot and fresh to order right in front of you, it was amazing to finally get to taste one. I got the provolone steak with mushrooms and onions. Fries with cheese. All amazing and fresh. So good I had to order another with the cheez wiz. Also delicious! Will definitely have to make it back.

Best cheesesteak in PA. Beats Tony Luke, Genos, etc. Yes, I went there. I think the bread is the key ingredient always soft and delicious. We've been coming here for two years or so, we try to come by every time we're in Harrisburg. I've not tried anything other than the cheesesteak and I don't need to! Staff is pretty friendly very to the point and in a hurry--- like Philly.

  • David A.

Just average. Not raving like other reviews. The steak are frozen slabs. The break is soft. No "chew" like good Philly bread, the wrong texture. Nice people here. Very good service. Having my fair share of quality steaks in Philly, this one is not even in the conversation for top tier sandwiches.

Best cheese steak ever! I had the original with fried onions and my boyfriend had the original with hot peppers. We shared an order of cheese fries. Delicious! We went during lunch rush so the line was long but service was really quick. We didn't wait long at all. We were very impressed. Staff was friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

The bread was tough the fries where nothing special. Looks like a local dive. Would not go back would rather go to Texas steak house it's a chain but it has good food sorry guys.

Was recommended to go here for lunch the other day. This was the best cheese steak I have ever had, so far. The bread was perfect - firm on the outside and soft on the inside to soak in all the juices. I love how lettuce, tomatoes, etc. cost extra. I also loved the crinkle fries. Since I wasn't super hungry, I got the special which is a small sub, fries, and a drink. Came in at about $8, well spent!

Made to order right in front of you and the best Philly cheesesteaks I've ever had! Highly recommend!

Got the original with Wiz and was very good, could barely finish it. If you like Cheesesteaks this is one to try. It was very busy but line moved fast.

The steak was great and price was reasonable. Steak on the left hoagies on the right and cashier in the middle was kinda confusing at first.

This IS the cheesesteak spot in the Harrisburg area, I dont care what anyone says about any other place. Ive tried them all, and this is it. Maybe not just the best in Harrisburg, maybe better than all in actual Philly as well. Ive had most in Philly, and would put PSH right there with the best!

  • Jennifer C.

I've had some AMAZING cheesesteaks here. I've also had some really terrible ones. Some of the employees leave a lot to be desired. I ordered 10 minutes (to go order) before closing once and one of the cooks all but stomped his feet in protest. If you give them an order with more than one cheesesteak, more often than not, they mess them up, even when the place is otherwise empty. The portions are good for the price and the cheesesteaks are great, when done right. I still return, but it's always a gamble when I do.

I have only had Pat's when it comes to REAL Philly steaks, but I really think this was better than Pat's. Everything about it. And don't mind that review about this place being filthy. Once of the first things I do when I eat at a new place, is go to the restroom. If it's dirty, I walk out. If it's clean, I figure if they keep the customers bathroom clean, they have to keep the kitchen and kitchenware clean. (Just a rule of thumb I use). Point being: this place passed that test and was OUTSTANDING!!!

Best cheesesteak I have ever had. I don't think I've truly eaten a cheesesteak until now. I didn't have very high expectations coming into this joint, but I was utterly wowed by how delicious and authentic their food was. It was an afternoon on a Friday and there was quite the crowd for being 2pm; a good sign to start. The place wasn't very big but they packed in as many seats/tables as they could (I can imagine It gets quite busy). It wasn't too difficult in making the choice of getting my own small cheesesteak. My mom and brother wanted to split a large one between the three of us. Psh. I didn't want to share! The sad part was I want even hungry, it just all looked and smelled so good. I ordered a small provolone cheesesteak with mayo, onions and hot peppers for about $5.50. I thought about getting mushrooms as well but I didn't want to spend the extra $.50 at the time. I probably would next time though. I was excited that they had free banana peppers and cherry peppers off to the side which I loaded up on. Upon seating myself with the necessary condiments surrounding my sandwich, I decided I first had to try a bite without any additives to see how it naturally tasted: ....heavenly! It turned out ketchup wasn't even necessary with how juicy and flavorful it was. I don't think I've ever had a steak sandwich without ketchup. The quality of all the ingredients really shined: the provolone had a distinct aged flavor (very yummy), the hot pepper relish enhanced the flavor while giving a decent amount of kick, the steak was juicy and tender, and the roll was perfect to mop up all the delicious juices while still maintaining shape. I did add banana peppers which gave a nice crunch to the sandwich and the mayo gave a creamy quality to the meat mixture. Everything just blended perfectly: textures and flavor. Also, there wasn't a lack of any ingredients. In fact, my sandwich was spilling over with meat and cheese! My family ordered a side of fries which didn't excite me at first. I figured their sandwiches were so good that their fries were probably lacking. Wrong. These fries were crunchy, salty and a surprisingly fresh. A great side dish to a mouthwatering sandwich. The service wasn't anything to right home about. It wasn't bad but it wasn't overly friendly either. Ordering was fast food style where you ordered your meal and waited at the counter until it was ready which worked great for this kind of place. We received or meal with little wait. Overall, I would go back here in a heart beat. I was very impressed by this place. The prices were very reasonable for such a great meal and the food was delicious and plentiful. I am curious to go to Philadelphia now to compare tastes. If it's anything like here, I'll be in heaven. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an amazing, well priced cheesesteak.

two philly cheese steaks for $13.50. Delish~~ BF and I both got the philly cheese steak with onion, hot and sweet peppers without mayo. He got american cheese and I got provolone. I liked his better. It was cheesier and melted better with the steak. We got it to go and ate the sandwiches in our hotel. It was still nice and fresh 15 minutes later. Not too soggy either!! The only problem i had with the sandwich was that the bread was slitted so it created a pocket where the meat and veggies gets put in. But as a result, the ends of the sandwich had very little meat and became all bread. It was not the right portion of meat to bread!! I also wished there was more steak but I guess for the price, it was good. I had high hopes for this place --- however, I was satisfied but not blown away.

This place is WITHOUT QUESTION five stars! For ONE REASON--The Cheesesteak!!! Although located in the Harrisburg, PA area it is just as good as Geno's or Pat's in Philadelphia. I have eaten at both of those places many times and can tell you that this cheesesteak is easily on par. The bread is shipped in from a bakery in Philly every day and is delicious! It's part of what makes this an amazing sandwich. The meat, whiz, (you HAVE to order cheese whiz) and onions are a life-changing combination! If you're in this area and skip this place, shame on you! It's so good that I would be willing to drive an hour (one way) just to eat one.

  • Andy Z.

I love this place. They have the best cheese steaks around. The bread is always fresh. The only downside is that it ruined cheese steaks for me from any other place because no one else compares. :)

    (5)
  • Alex R.

Cheese steak was okay, under seasoned for my tastes (really needed salt). Obviously popular, there was a long line and the wait was bearable because there are some great smells. Service seemed a little slow, but they were friendly... Small flattop cooking area that struggled to keep up with demand.

Love the food here. Always like a good cheese steak and fries. Great job. Every time I go in everyone is greeting me with a happy face. Place was clean and the guys that make the cheese steaks are amazing.

Fantastic service, great tasting food, friendly staff, perfect lunch stop local. I make it a point to get a cheese steak from this place anytime I'm in town. It does NOT disappoint!

Very good cheesesteak this side of Philly. I will be back for sure.... $8 for a steak/fries/drink. Not bad by any means.. rolls are great.

This sub shop can make a mean cheesesteak no doubt. Can't believe I have been missing this for years. Plenty of classic options for cheesesteaks, and super crispy, wavy cut fries like no other.

  • Dan S.

Got the classic Philly with whiz. Best cheese steak I've had in a long time. Definitely would go again.

    (5)
  • Jess P.

Usually I get regular cheesesteaks at this place which are mediocre, not much meat but ok taste. Tonight I got a chicken cheesesteak which was inedible. The chicken tasted like the shredded canned type, horrible. Waste of money and food. The people claiming this place is as good as Geno's or 'best in the area' are full of it. Better cheesesteaks and service at Millennium in Dillsburg or Philadelphia Steak & Hoagie House on Simpson Ferry in Mechanicsburg. I grudgingly go back to this place because the husband loves their meatball subs but after tonight never again.

  • A L.

This is one of those restaurants that restores my faith in Yelp. It's exactly the kind of place I like: small, specializing in one type of food and doing it extremely well. It looks to be family owned, and everyone was friendly and fast. Couple that with a bargain price, and you get a perfect stopover after a day at Hershey Park on the way back to DC. I would definitely come here again.

    (5)
  • Janelle S.

My husband is from south Philly and this place passes his test. We've only had cheese steaks so I can't comment on the rest of the menu but the food is consistently good. The staff is great and very personable. Definitely recommended for relocated Philadelphians who expect a good a roll.

  • Sam R.

I was staying in Hershey for a weekend of fun at the park, and some sightseeing with my wife and daughter, and decided that we wanted an authentic cheesesteak, and we were not disappointed. Now mind you, I have family in philly, and have had a pretty good one, but it's been awhile. Well, they need to change the name to a camp hill cheesesteak, because this place is on the money! It's not a fancy place, but it doesn't have to be. They could sell these in the parking lot, and the line would still be down the block. I had an original with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and I just wanted to eat it slow and savor the flavor! Long story short, I am headed back to jersey, and on the way, I am going to pick up 5 to take with me! Please go, you will be back, and so will I!

Best subs in the area. I love the Original cheesesteak The best in the area. Great service !!!!!!!!

  • Ada S.

The best place to eat in the greater Harrisburg area period! I've been to Geno's, Pat's, Steve's and Tony Luke's and this is by far the best cheese steak I've had. We ordered a cheesesteak and cheese fries. Cheese fries are an absolute MUST. You won't be disappointed!

  • Jon J.

Awesome place went there tonight because of yelp with my 5 Japanese guests to get them a quality and authentic cheese steak. Food was great. Hot and affordable.

  • Brian N.

Best Cheesesteak hands down! There are better places for Hoagies but no one in this area can touch their Cheesesteaks.

    (5)
  • Kristen C.

This was my first cheesesteak experience and it was delicious! The bread was soft and chewy but not mushy, the peppers were sweet and sour, perfect combination with the cheese. The staff was amazing! Best customer service I have ever had. They even made my 3 year old daughter a smaller sandwich for free and just in case she didn't like it they prepared chicken nuggets. But she couldn't get enough of the cheesesteak sandwich either! If we are ever back in Harrisburg we will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Megan K.

Good food, the only thing that would make it better is fresh cut fries. There were 2 of us, we probably could have split 1 order of fries and cheese sauce. The steaks were pretty good, I got a large and took half to go. The service was quick, we went at about 6:30 and my food was almost done by the time my husband finished ordering. Very fresh, especially the bread.

There's lots of restaurants that try to do Philly Cheesesteaks... but this is one of the few that does them right. Great soft, yet crusty bread, real beef , whiz, pepper relish, and some of my favorite fries in the area. Their cold hoagies are equally good- if you want a break from a cheesesteak, give the Italian Hoagie a try. There's a reason this restaurant always has a line at lunch time.

Chicken Cheese Steak Review: Chicken was super dry and not worth ordering. I understand that the original cheese steak idea is derived from steak, but don't offer chicken as an option if it's going to taste bad. They cook to order so your sandwich will be fresh and hot - but the cooks don't seem happy to work there or wait on you.

  • Mark B.

I've been to the Geno's and Pat's in philly , as well as other local places and this place has the best steaks by far! Long lines at lunchtime but that's because everyone loves it here. I usually get the original with wiz or a provolone. The bread is so fresh and doesn't get soggy. The French fries are great too. They also offer hoagies which I have not tried, but I stick to the cheesesteaks. Prices are fair. It's a much better deal than subway. The staff is kinda slow sometimes. Overall, I highly recommend !

Best cheese steaks by far. Get the cheese wiz. You won't be disappointed.

Don't even bother trying to find a similar place, this is as good as it gets. Miss the old fresh cut fries, but hey, can't complain. Cherry coke made with cherry syrup not the cherry coke bottled by coke. We've been going here for over 20 years.

This place has good cheese steaks, but the truth is I had higher expectations. I've had better Philly Cheese Steaks in Arizona, granted there are legitimate joints all over the country, I expected something more in Pennsylvania so close to Philadelphia. Ordered double meat and double cheese with sweet peppers for a satisfying lunch.

We were staying in the area for vacation purposes, and thought we would use Yelp to see if there is any good cheesesteak place near our hotel. The ratings for this place looked pretty good, but found it strange to see so many five-star ratings, along with a few, here and there, where the reviewer was not happy with the experience, or thought the food was over-priced for what you get. All I can say is: we took the "Yelp Gamble" and decided to go there last night (September 19, 2014). This reviewer agrees with the other reviewers who give this place five stars. Just like lobster rolls, the secret to a good cheesesteak seems to be to just keep it simple. I found the taste of the meat about as close to perfect as you can get. The place is nothing special: you order at the counter (one line for cheesesteaks, a separate line for hoagies), but, frankly, isn't that about the only "right" way to order a cheesesteak? My only regret is that my wife and I live about 3 hours from here, so it may be awhile before we have other vacation travels that take us to this part of the country. By the way, I should add that I loved the Original cheesesteak that I had (with the traditional cheeze whiz on it), my wife had a hoagie and reports back that is was also great.

Service poor. Owner cooks slowly. No help in the kitchen. 20 min wait. Owner also doesn't wear gloves while prepping your food?

I moved to Philadelphia from the Mechanicsburg area 7 years ago. I have been to every major cheesesteak place in Philly: (Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, Tony Lukes, Chink's, Rick's King of Steaks, etc...). I can say without any hesitation that Philadelphia Steaks & Hoagies Inc has a better cheesesteak than any of them. I used to go to here with my friends when I was in high school about once a week. It is such a disappointment that no place in Philly can compare! I think it is because PS&H is generous with their cheese wiz. You get some on the bottom of the roll before the steak goes on and than some on top of the meat. The problem with all the places in Philly is that they don't put very much wiz on their steaks. GO PS&H!!!

  • Jeremy L.

Completely authentic Philly cheese steak. They make a whiz w/ as good as any of the ones I've had in the city, and for about half the cost. They also have hot cherry peppers available, so I really can't ask for anything more. Workers are very pleasant and they keep the place nice and clean. There have always been enough tables when I've been there, but I wouldn't be surprised if it get a bit tight during busy hours.

  • Megan Y.

I know I lived in Philly for years, and it is almost blasphemy to say any place outside the city is good, but this place is just awesome. My husband and I always get the "original" (cheez-wiz) steaks with cheese fries. They are just really really good. The service is quick, the staff is polite and friendly, and the steaks are very similar to those at Pat's. I heard once that someone who worked there had worked at Pat's as a kid, but I have no real evidence (other than the deliciousness of the steaks). If you are ever in Central PA and looking for a guaranteed good eat, stop here.

Being from Philadelphia I am confused with all of these rave reviews. If you think Pat's or Geno's is a "real" Philadelphia steak you are on drugs. Nobody who lives in Philly eats at either of these places unless uncle so and so is coming in from out of town and insits on eating at a tourist trap. The steaks from the Camp Hill location are average at best. Honestly, they remind me of the steaks you get at a Phillies or 76ers game. They are on the small side and very generic. I am not saying I wouldn't eat here again or that the food is bad, if I had the choice between McDonalds and these sandwiches I would choose Philadelphia Steaks and Hoagies hands down lol. I am saying I would never go out of my way for this stuff because if this shop was located in Philly & had to deal with the cheese steak competition out that way this place would come up short in all aspects. I could do the same with rib eye, cheeze wiz, armarossa roll and a grill. PS- Geno's and Pat's are not that good and I feel bad if this is what you have experienced as a Philly steak. Even Tony Luke's is considered a tourist trap. Try Steves Prince of Steaks or any other mom & pop shop. If you like generic pizza sauce type steaks go to Max's in North Philly.

Very good cheesesteaks. This is a regular stop for me when I need a quick meal. Normally there will be someone in front of you in line but I have never had to wait more than a couple minutes. The bread is amazing and makes the sandwiches. I have never had a dry steak here either. Onions, Hot and Sweet Peppers and Cheese(wiz, provolone, american) are free. I like mine with mushrooms which is extra. I am not a fan of the thick crinkle cut fries but I normally get them and a drink for about ten dollars. Not necessarily the cheapest options around but its worth it.

  • Dave P.

As with alot of these reviews, you will find that if someone eats at a place and then reviews it, it must be good? Really. I will say the cheesesteaks with wiz and onions are decent here, but everything else is a complete fail! From the minute you walk in to the place, you will notice how disgustingly dirty and filthy it is. Even if you are legally blind, you will still be able to see the crud. Once you get past that, then you deal with the teenager twenty somethings that all have a blank stare....Its like the "I work here and I don't know anything, but I should be in upper management stare" type thing. Its almost if you are bothering them to place an order. Then they all stand around and try to figure out who shall make it and who can sit around. Then you have to listen to their oh so engaging stories of how they drank a keg of beer and slept with the prom queen. Really? I don't give a shit. I just gave you 20 bucks for two steak sandwiches. Make them so I can get the hell out of here! As i said, they are fairly tasty. They don't have enough meat in them for the prices and aggravation you have to put up with. If you can see past the crud and the stupid kids, go here, your sure to like it.

My favorite part of the "Bring your kid to work day" experience when I was younger was coming here for lunch with my dad. Since those days, I've always loved coming here. Even though I always get my sinfully delicious sandwich the same way every time, it is nice to know that if I wanted to switch it up and try something else, they offer a variety of choices for my cheesesteak experience. My only word of caution is to ask for lightly salted fries, unless you like a lot of salt. They seem to go overboard on it when I order fries.

I was here last year, but it was not open when I wanted to try this cheese steak sandwiches people talk about on tv and what not. Never had one before not even the frozen ones they sell at costco. I came in after the lunch rush hour and stood in front of the menu for a while until I saw the mushroom steak. I ordered that with onions, provolone, and fries. I'm about to eat an American version of a Vietnamese sandwich! Actually, that would probably taste good with all the asian fix. I enjoyed the cheese steak it is pretty good, I would have liked more meat in that bread. Not a fan of the eagles on the wall meh =)

Just ok...not sure what all the hype is about this place. The main issue was the lack of meat. I would expect a place that is supposed to be so good to pile on a little more meat. The meat to roll ratio was off. The rolls were good, fries seemed like frozen ore-ida's. Cheez wiz is Cheez wiz no matter where you go. The neon sign needs cleaning, it was disgusting, full of dirt, dust and cob webs. If they gave more meat I would give this a 4 star as I can live with the dirtiness of the place but the cheesesteak was just ok. Did not live up to the hype but still worty of 3 stars.

Outstanding Cheese Steak! This is as close as you can get to a Philly steak without going there. Try the original with Wiz.

Really as good as everyone says. Not healthy - at all. But oh my, what a delicious sub! I had a Chicken Cheesesteak with provolone, whiz, hot & sweet, and onions. OMFG! Crazy good, they know how to make delicious! Once in a while, I'll be back!!!

This was the most authentic cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly! I ordered original whiz with. Better than Pat's or Geno's! I highly recommend this place!!!

This place has some of the best cheese steaks in town. The meat is finely chopped and the marinara sauce tastes very good. The lunch special is a great deal. I come to this place very often.

Fabulous cheesesteaks -service can be a little slow, but that's only because the line is soo long for the delicious food!!

I went to college in the Philly area. I'm very familiar with both Pat's and Gino's steaks and the whole south Philly thing. I prefer Jim's Steaks on South Street to either of them. ( yelp.com/biz/jims-steaks… ) I know what Philly cheesesteaks are supposed to taste like. I decided to give Philadelphia Steaks & Hoagies a shot on 11/14/08 around 9pm. The place was not totally deserted, even at that late hour. That seemed like a good sign to me. The place is a simple strip mall setup, with a counter at the back of the shop and a dining area at the front. The dining area was fairly clean and decorated with a lot of Phillies memorabilia. There were several long tables rather than lots of little ones, which would make this a great place for a group. I ordered the Original Philly steak (Cheez Whiz) with onions and mushrooms. I have to say, this was the most authentic cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. The meat was fresh, the Cheez Whiz was properly applied and the bun was overloaded with goodness. Unfortunately, the rolls were chewy and tough to bite through, which is often true of authentic Philly cheesesteaks too. Some people like those kinds of rolls, but not me. The two young men working behind the counter were clean and friendly. I was impressed when the guy asked me to remove the lid from my cup before he refilled it. Clearly they have been trained in proper food handling procedures. I was served promptly and courteously. The food was maybe a wee bit pricey, but not outrageous. $9 for the sandwich (extra for the mushrooms) and a large soda.

The best cheesesteaks you will find in the capital region. Automatic lunch spot for myself and some co-workers if we are in the region. I wish the seating was more spacious but they do the best they can do with the space they have. Whomever owns this restaurant needs to open up one in the York region.

There are three Philly cheese steak shops within a couple miles of my office. Based on the reviews here I decided to give this place a try (on 7-22-10). Boy, am I glad I did! I've never eaten at Pat's or Gino's in South Philly, but I've eaten a few cheese steaks in my time. I have to say that, to date, this cheese steak was definitely the best I've ever had! This was also my first time having one with whiz (I usually get provolone). I'm now sold on the whiz. This was one big, stuffed sandwich. The steak and onions were cooked perfectly, there was just the right amount of whiz, and the bun held up its bounty beautifully. This sandwich was outstanding. It was exactly what I think a cheese steak should taste like. I also ordered a side of fires. These, however, were not up to par. They were your basic, frozen, crinkle-cut fries. What a shame, since I love fries, but with such a hefty, great-tasting sandwich you don't really need the fries. The prices here are very reasonable. I ordered the "Original" steak sandwich which was also the most expensive at only $5.50. The fries were only $1.35. I ordered my food to go, and everything was wrapped with care and plenty of napkins were provided. The set-up of the place is straightforward. Tables in the front; counter in the back. Just order off the menu board. Simple. If you like cheese steaks, this place is a must try. I'll definitely be going back, and probably all too often!

The hubby finally took me out for the cheesesteaks here. And it was good. I had the original plus some cheese fries. It was great, especially the roll. I will be back. Oh and it is a good thing they are on the opposite shore as me or I would end up the way too often!

If you are looking for a cheesesteak just as good as being in Philly itself, this is the place. Nothing fancy, but neither are other cheesesteak places. They also provide hoagies for non steak and cheese fans. When I crave a cheesesteak, this is the place I automatically go to.

I love this place! The owner, Dave, is a great guy, I met him over the course of the 10+ years I have eaten here. While the ambiance is not like Geno's or Pat's in Philly, this is as close as it gets in the Camp Hill area... I have never been disappointed!

I live in Utah, yet I've eaten at Philadelphia Steaks & Hoagies six times. They make a Philly Steak that I travel thousands of miles for, and it never disappoints. They don't get upset if you take 30 seconds to order like at Gino's or Pat's, and they offer a great variety of toppings. The only down side is that the place could usually use a sweep or wipe down, but they stay so busy that it gets hard to keep up. Hire a teenager and throw them a rag and this should be solved. Great place, good food.

Best steaks around! Never had better. They are the nicest folks around too. I ususally get a provalone steak with extra cheese (American), mayo, grilled onions, sweet & hot peppers. GOOD STUFF!

I have only eaten cheese steaks and fries here so can only review them. I've had the steak and chicken ones. I never can bring myself to order anything else because those are what I like! I usually get the Little Philly Special which is a 6-7 inch sandwich with fries and a medium size soda. It's not a bad price for all of that, like $6.30 or something. Way better tasting than any chain fast food. Ok neither the steaks or fries are as good tasting as Shugars Philly Deli but they are as good as any other basic cheese steak place around Camp Hill. They are usually very quick in service and this place is absolutely packed on most Friday's at lunch. I have never been disappointed here and have returned many times. Usually things do seem to run better when Dave is there. The rest of the crew is young, mostly, and sometimes a little airy. The seating is not the best and you are sitting with other people shoulder to shoulder if it is crowded. I don't like that. I've had no problem with the quality of the food being average to very good. Never below average. I haven't noticed the restaurant being dirty when the crew actually does have time to clean up. I will admit the fries at this place are typically really good, some of my favorites in the Camp Hill area. They have been undercooked at times but that is the only complaint. They also have the typical Philadelphia style pretzels which are delivered and lying on the counter, but I haven't had them. I have not had fatty steak or chicken here so it's not poor quality meat. They could put more meat on the steak that is true, a little too light on that. But cheese steak prices all over have been going up and so I am sure they are conserving.

My fiance's parents live real close to here, so we've been here probably about a dozen times. The other reviews are correct; this is one of the few places outside of Philly that does the cheesesteak correctly. The bread is nice and chewy (and thick, so the whole sandwich doesn't fall apart), and the steak is juicy and prepared correctly. They also offer a lot of topping choices (mushrooms, hot and sweet peppers, tomatoes, onions, etc), which is nice for someone like me who likes to load his cheesesteak up with tons of crap (purists will hate that comment, but shove it). Prices are reasonable, the line's never too long, the employees are really friendly, and the steaks are fantastic. What not to love?

Yum! Great cheesesteaks! You can choose the cheese and they have cheese wiz as an option. The line was a bit long but once you ordered, they were very swift. We each got a cheesesteak but took them home. The prices are very affordable! Go here for pretty authentic Philly Cheeseteaks!

Passing through camp hill and looking for a quick bite. Better then so called true steaks and cheese hoagies. More meat, more cheese and half the price. Go there now!!!

You ever swear you've reviewed a place, but yet you can't find it anywhere? That's here. I'm positive I gave this place a 4 star when I was here a few weeks back after getting a pretzel next door... Oh Well So my wife and I were next door getting a pretzel, and we smelled the very distinct aroma of cooked sliced meat on a bun, covered with cheese and onions. Damn... We weren't exactly hungry, we just wanted a snack. Few things will cause a hunger pangs, one of them is the smell of beef cooking, we bagged up the pretzel and trotted in. We decided to split a whiz, wit onions. The guy taking the order was quick and efficient, called out the order to the kid working the flat top, and I watched him throw a pile of meat on the grill. There was no one else waiting for food so it took roughly 4 minutes for our food to arrive at the table. The beef wasn't dry and was flavorful. Personally I could have used more whiz, but since this was an unplanned meal we were trying to remain focused on the fact we had dinner in a little bit and more cheese would just cement the food in our stomachs. Everything was great and we will hit this spot up a few more times to see how their consistency plays out.

OK...first I should say that if I could rate this a 3.5 star I would. My boyfriend and I went here on Sunday for lunch. We had been out the night before...this sounded like good hangover food. I had read the reviews and have been CRAVING this place for months now. Perhaps that is why my experience was just A-OK. Service was quick and friendly. Both of us ordered the original and we shared an order of cheese fries. The rolls...eh...the meat was good...and we had cheese whiz. The main reason I am giving this place 3 stars instead of 4 is because of the cheese. The cheese was too much...it took over the sandwich. It was a Philly CHEESE sandwich. I ate about 3/4 of mine and I started to feel sick because of the cheese. I'll go back...but perhaps I'll try something different.

After brandishing a 5 star review of this place's sister location in downtown Harrisburg, I had to give this shop a try. Unfortunately, I can barely give it 4 stars. Hoagie was great, the right bread, the hot pepper relish and oregano to boot. The cheesesteak was forgettable, very average. Maybe it was an off day for these guys, I'll probably give them another try just because I've always loved the food at their other location. Nice place to get a taste of a real hoagie, they just don't do 'em right around here.

I was a little hestiant walking into this place when my fiancee said we had to try this for a late lunch. I was very pleased with the results. Like the other reviewers said before me, there's nothing special about this place when you walk in. It's a bare bones a room as it can be, except for the different sports posters and fan gear mounted on the walls. We both had cheese steaks. Mine was chicken and his was steak. I do wish we had skipped on the fries. They reminded of the Ore Ida's frozen fries I had when I was a kid, but none the less, the steaks were juicy and watery, just like it should have been. On a side note, my fiancee told me that they actually bring in the rolls fresh from Philadelphia on a large truck every morning at 3/4 AM. Now, that's something to be noted and make you go "That's really cool."

Better than most any of the cheese steak places in Philly! I've eaten at the famous Geno's and Pat's as well as many others. The steaks here at Dave's restaurant and the downtown store run by Joe are far better. Quality rolls and meat. Local family owned operations. Food and service are best when Dave or his son are around. Quality can suffer some on weekends when the teenage help is working. And the store and furniture are showing signs of age. But after 25+ years, I head here on a regular basis. TIP: Add pepperoni to your steak hoagie!

The Real Deal! I'm a fairly regular Philly cheesesteak eater, and this is about the best I've ever had outside of Philly. The bread is right, the steak, spices, everything is pretty authentic Philadelphia stuff. They did forget my Italian hoagie, so I can't review that and that's probably the only reason for the 4 stars. Check your order before you leave. Fantastic cheesesteak!

i've spoken before about there being few exceptions to finding a good steak outside of Philly. this place is one of the very few. i spent a year working in this god-forsaken town and one of the only things that made it bearable was a once-a-week (at least) trip to Philadelphia Steak & Hoagies Inc. with my coworkers. they do it right...they keep it simple...it's a room...it's decorated with Philly sports paraphernalia...the guy behind the counter takes your order and lays out what you need with a quickness. if there are cheese fries to go with it, the other guy hooks it up as he's pouring you a birch beer. yes they have BIRCH BEER!!! for those of you who don't know, educate yourselves: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bi… i ruined many a neck tie shoving messy steaks into my face at this place for a year. i regret nothing! on another note...Yelp shows the word "hoagies" as misspelled. my blood pressure is through the roof. i'm writing to the guy that created this site until something is done about this injustice.

I did a real quick search online and found "Philadelphia Steaks & Hoagies Inc" here on Yelp. Decided to go check it out and I'm glad i did. The service was great and so was the food. I'm not a big phily cheesesteak fan but i did enjoy today's dinner. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat, for an extremely affordable price.

I grew up in Philly so I know a little about cheesesteaks. First of all I hate Pats and Genos. The best ones I've had are the ones that taste like the ones served by this restaurant. Soft roll, tender meat, cheese whiz and onions and you devour the whole thing in no time flat. Good price as well. Better than putting up with the South Philly traffic and parking!

  • Denis B.

Living in western Canada, I probably wouldn't be the best cheesesteak critic, but I definitely love 'em. When a course took me to PA, I couldn't wait to try some authentic ones. I even drove into Philly to check out the famous geno's and pat's. I gotta say, this place was probably twice as good as pat's. I don't have much else to compare it to, but it was the only place I went to twice in my two week stay, so for that it gets 5 stars.

  • Khalid S.

Definitely one of those places which inspire you to Yelp. I've had cheesesteak in Philly only once and I don't know if it was a really popular joint, so can't compare to the real stuff. Still, by far the best cheesesteak I've had.

I love this place. The rolls and the wiz make the cheese steak. I love the cheese fries. When you are in the mood for a real cheese steak this is the place I go too.
