After a long day on the road home from a trip to Disney, we wanted 2 things: a decent hotel room and some ice cream to help take the edge off of the day. When we checked in at our hotel, the lady at the desk didn't hesitate to recommend Brusters, and after stopping by I understand why! The ice cream is smooth and creamy and the shakes are thick and delicious. There is enough variety here for every taste imaginable. The waffle cones are made on site, and are the perfect amount t of crunch without being too hard. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that the price is a bit high for what you get, but it wasn't so pricey that it kept me from buying ice cream for the whole family!

I have been to this place a few times with family. It is very inconsistent. You will get a good nice sized cone one day and the next a baby sized cone for the same price. The owner needs to teach the very young workers how to form a consistent sized cone or just pile it on like 3 B's does. On many days the ice cream tastes great yet on others just average. Who runs this place!? Bad owners? I don't know.

This is a great year-round ice cream parlor, with lots of delicious options to choose from. My only advice is to make sure you ask to taste the flavors before you buy. The batches don't always come out the same and you could end up committing to a humongous waffle cone of sour strawberry.

Bruster's puts out a fresh, consistent, tasty ice cream. I read Amy's complaint over 'too creamy' ice cream that 'obviously comes from guar gum and other additives'...she makes it sound like there's some sort of 'ice cream conspiracy' going on over there. Guar gum is a perfectly natural ingredient (made from the guar bean) in a lot of products (currently getting a lot of use in gluten-free cooking); it helps stabilize ice cream and prevent the formation of ice. There are many more ice creams that DO use it than don't, and the amounts used are minute. All I know is, I like what I taste, and I don't see anything unnatural on that ingredient list. There is variety, fun, and tasty ice cream at Bruster's. Some folks just take themselves way too seriously. The thing that matters most in ice cream is 'overrun', the ratio of air to cream - and the butterfat content. Bruster's shines in both areas. The next important thing is freshness and fun - and Bruster's has plenty of both! I think there's a milkshake calling me...

Sorry guys but I just don't like this ice cream. It's too "manufactured". It's unnaturally creamy (like you find with shaving cream) and every thing I've ever tasted is way too sweet (including the no sugar which can weigh in with a whopping 30 carbs - 10% of your daily allotment for a 1/2 cup serving). The consistency is not natural - it has to be the result of guar gum and other additives. I like that the kids get free baby cones until they reach 40" high - but that's not enough. The prices are really high - I'd rather spend my $3.00+ on a pint of Hagen Daz than on one scoop at Brusters. I can't figure out why there's always a line. Here's my real complaint!!! They call it REAL ice cream in the name. Hunh? If you want real go to the grocery store and buy something made with milk, cream, sugar, and other natural goodies or make your own. Here is the ingredient list for their No Sugar Added Caramel Swirl ice cream. Please tell me where the "real" comes into play. Fat free milk, Caramel variegate (maltitol syrup, water, nonfat milk solids, modified corn starch, maltitol. Natural and artificial flavors, salt, potassium sorbate a preservative, caramel color, mono and diglycerides, sodium bicarbonate, xanthan gum, sucraslose a non nutritive sweetener, artifical colors FD&C yellow #6 and Yellow #5), Stabilizer (( lactitol, malto-dextrin, microcrystalline cellulose (cellulose gel), mono and diglycerides, cellulose gum, acasulfame potassium a non nutritive sweetener, aspartme (phenylketonurics: contains phenylalanine), carrageenan, salt), maltodextrin, non fat milk solids, vanilla, vanillin, vitamin A palmitate. Barf, barf, barf, barf, barf! It's like walking into a high school science classroom and chugging out of the beakers and test tubes. Hideola. To be fair, since that no sugar stuff can be pumped up with all types of garbage. Here's their ingredient list for vanilla - which should be the most "pure" of the bunch, right? Milk, Cream, Sucrose, Corn Syrup, Non Fat Milk Solids, Whey, Vanilla, Vanillin, Caramel Color, Natural Flavor, Mono & Diglycerides, Guar Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Polysorbate 80, Carrageenan. I knew it!!! Guar gum! Bastards!

I can't believe I had lived in Pennsylvania for 2 years and never tried Bruster's. It's probably a blessing in disguise, because I would have gone there more than once, and then . . . Next stop, liposuction and angioplasty. With all this frozen yogurt craze, people seem to forget what real ice cream tastes like. It's got cream, sugar and, yes, fat. It's not good for you, but, boy, does it taste good! Bruster's ice cream is just that: rich, creamy and decadent. It brings you back to the good ol' times when people didn't have to worry about gas prices, cholesterol or carbon footprints. Walk up to the little kiosk and look at the menu. They have about 20 flavors available, but their selection changes daily. You can order a single or a double scoop, but I have to warn you: a single scoop is a LOT of ice cream. I am guessing a double could feed a family of four. Get a cup, a waffle cone, a sugar waffle cone or, if you're worried about getting ice cream on your clothes, opt for the waffle bowl. I tried the birthday cake flavor. It tasted like vanilla ice cream with frosting, I guess. Interesting. Oh, and I have to say that the employees could not have been nicer. Everyone was smiling and looked like they actually wanted to be there. There's nothing worse than a sad clerk behind the counter! It's a happy place. Oh, and if you happen to have kids, or have an easy access to one under 40 inches, bring them by. Bruster's will give them a free kids' cone. I am guessing it's big enough for an adult, too. What's better than real ice cream? FREE real ice cream, of course.

Good Milkshakes and Malts, I'm just not too impressed with the entire highschool staff thinking that this is social hour spending 20 minutes talking to their friends while they take their orders. It never fails when I come here to grab something cold on a hot day. There is always some young punk trying to put the moves on the girl behind the counter, then it comes to pass that they go to school together anyway. Hey, save it for the hallways, people are trying to get fat behind you, get outta the line.
