The Monroe Hotel is one of the "legendary" restaurants of Butler. Not per se legendary for it's food, or service... it just IS! However that said, Monroe can be very hit or miss for me at times. When I keep it simple with food such as philly cheesesteak, or the french club I always enjoy it. Sometimes when I stray out of that niche though, that's when I get variables of quality. Keep it simple and you will definitely enjoy. Also, to take the spotlight away from the T&F sauce everyone wants to talk about; the real star of the show is their ranch dressing. Also, if you're a non smoker, the bar is grade A disgusting. It's seriously 100% smoke filled with minimal, if any, ventilation.

This is easily my favorite restaurant in the area. They have an exceptionally large menu and the food has always been excellent. They catered our wedding and their food was really the talk of the reception because it was so good. In fact, one of our guests, who is a wedding DJ almost every weekend, said that it was the best food he has ever had at a wedding. Even the leftovers, a week after our wedding, were awesome! The restaurant staff have always been great and helpful to us, and we never have to worry about their dining area being dirty. I recommend this place to everyone I can.

Love this place! T&F sauce on everything!! Great food at a great price. Prime rib is great and so our the wings. The pasta bowls are the size of a soccer ball and taste wonderful. Bar area is also great for sporting events and has wonderful beer selection.

Stopped here on the way home from shopping at Clearview Mall. Usually we would eat at the mall but this time we decided to try this place. When we arrived we found an ample parking lot within easy walking distance. Once we were inside we seated ourselves and then we we were cordially greeted by the person who provided our menus. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient and, even though she had been nearing the end of her work shift, she was very helpful. The place was busy! Our meals were ordered and my wife got a salad as a side. It was large and I had to finish it for her. Darn! She ordered the stuffed pork chop which was very good and I got the stuffed cod which was also very good. There were a lot of regulars which is always a good sign. The beers we ordered were drafts and they were cold and fresh. When we we were finished , we were both glad we stopped and plan to again. Kudos to the Monroe Hotel! One of the best places to eat in Butler and , did I mention, the prices are reasonable!

Monroe Hotel is hands down my favorite place to eat in Butler and has been that way since I can remember. Some of my favorites from the menu include their french onion soup, salad with house dressing (trust me, the house dressing is to die for), T&F wrings, super pasta bowl with garlic oil and angel hair, and of course their homemade potato chips. They even have a dessert that's basically deep fried cheese cake with caramel and ice cream. The name of it escapes me but it's amazing. My mouth is watering just writing this review. Monroe also has a great little bar which is great on the weekends. The only reason I am giving Monroe 4 stars instead of 5 is because they aren't always consistent. I've brought groups of people to Monroe and have left disappointed with some of the meals at times. Usually they hit it out of the park so I keep coming back anyways.

If you don't like greasy food, or your date doesn't, then don't take her here. It has a bar and a separated dining area. I would try to avoid the smoking section. It has plenty of room for parties and etc.

Butler doesn't have a lot of good restaurants these days. The Monroe has a varied menu and an extensive bar which puts it at the top of the pile for the area. Prices are very reasonable, service is quick and attentive, you'll get your money's worth here. I usually eat here when I'm in town and my favorite is the Codfather, a big fried cod sandwich, perfect for any day of the week not just Fridays. All of the local beers are available at the bar, IC, IC Light, Yuengling, etc. My only big problem is that they still allow indoor smoking in PA.

This place has good food but it's not the cleanest place around. The Bar area is kind of like a dive bar, but the service is good. The dining room is really outdated, and the service is poor. The food is consistently good, and is very reasonable. I recommend the Monroe burger and the T and F flavor wings.

i met up with some friends at the bar tonight and had a pretty good experience. the beers were cheap and the appetizers were good (we had the fried zucchini and the nachos). I will definitely be going back the next time I am in town.
