This place is great. The wings are awesome not greasy and cooked to perfection with a great selection of sauces/flavors. Pulled pork sandwich was also good with crispy fries and creamy coleslaw(had the Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce which was excellent). Had the all you can eat crab legs (Saturday special) they were great big meaty clusters and wonderful honey hush puppies. Although the place isn't much to look at from the road I'm glad I decided to give it a try now my wife brings homes takeout frequently. The owner is present doing the cooking and he along with the staff are great answering any questions and just plain nice. I would definitely recommend this place.

I was very excited to spot this place on a recent visit to my hometown. My first glimpse was not of the restaurant but of the adjacent smokehouse, where a giant pile of wood and a hammock share space with the cheerful smoker. Sold! So even though I was there for only a short time and had a full dance card, I finagled a visit for lunch. Bottom line: meats were so-so, sides were great, sauces were outstanding. The meats that I tried--pulled pork, ribs, and chicken--were slightly dry and bland. Of the three, the pulled pork was the best. Also, there was not much smoke flavor. While it's true that the sauces were awesome, barbecued meat should always be good enough on its own. However, I loved the side dishes. There was a nice variety, though I tried only two. The hand-cut fries were very sharp, and came on a dinner plate. The cole slaw was fresh and tasty, with big slivers of cabbage and carrots, basically the polar opposite of that minced, homogeneous grocery-store caliber shite. This made me happy, because most barbecue joints half-ass their cole slaw. By far, the best thing going at Boulevard BBQ are the sauces. They offer ELEVEN different varieties! Too cruel! I ordered the sampler platter partially because it included three choices of sauce, and I cribbed another one from my mom's plate, but there were at least three others that sounded brilliant. My favorite of the four was South Carolina Gold (a mustard-based sauce), followed by the Texas Chipotle Hot (which registers really low on the heat scale but still tastes good); the other two were Honey Creek BBQ and Alabama Sweet, both good. Georgia Line, Greek Garlic Asiago, and Burn 'Em Heat are on my list for next time. I can't wait for my next visit to Mifflin County.

This place has been opened for over a year now. A bbq joint less than a mile from me is good news. Unfortunately, I just haven't had the chance to try it out until recently. I saw an ad that stated they started serving wood fired pizza. I love wood fired pizza. So it was a must for me to try it. I ordered two pizzas. One with pepperoni and one with sausage. I ordered via phone. The girl taking my order said they may be out of sausage. She asked someone and then said it's ok, they had some left. That is a little red flag for me. A bbq joint out of sausage at 6 pm. Ok, well they had some left. I go pick up the pizzas. The inside of the restaurant is decent for a bbq place. They have tables and a waitress. It looks small on the outside. But inside, I was surprised at the room. So, everything was fine. I get the pizzas, takes them home, both are pepperoni. Not what I ordered. But, not worth going back. I figured no problem if they get the pizza right. Well, they didn't. One pizza was burnt. No, not woos fire charred. Burnt. The other was doughy and underdone. The pizzas didn't taste too bad. The sauce was a little sweet for my tastes. But it was ok. I will go back here someday. Not for pizza, though. I should have just got some wings and brisket or something. I hear good things. I will update this review when I do that.

The food is very good usually. The waitstaff is young and inexperienced and does not know how to serve. Don't check to see how the food is or if you need anything. Our pizza order was missed so when I came to the table it wasn't well done enough. Management is clearly struggling. So poor service keeps it from four or five stars

I've been driving by Boulevard BBQ for weeks, but finally ordered the Pick 3 Lunch Special for $6.99. Great value and good taste is my verdict. I ordered by phone, and the young lady was very patient since I didn't have a menu in front of me. They also let me get two small sides instead of the soup of the day (I'm not into Chunky Tomato) or side salad (I'm not into salads at BBQ places). I appreciate when a restaurant makes an exception to make a customer happy. I got the 1/2 Boss' s Favorite, which is pulled pork on a soft hoagie roll, with a mayo-based Carolina sauce and onions. Very good, pork was tender and not bland. One side was red-skin potato salad, which was ok. The other side was Mac-n-Cheese, and it was a baked mac with a nicely browned top. It reminded of a really good rendition of a casserole mac-n-cheese you'd get at a picnic, very flavorful and moist. To get all that with nice-sized portions plus a 20 oz fountain drink for $6.99 is really good, and I'll go back to try their other sauces, as well as their brisket and chicken. The inside is clean, and has the "roadside bbq" look going on.

I was excited about having a BBQ place close to home, but my enthusiasm quickly faded after I started opening the take-out packages from BLVD BBQ. We ordered the Sampler platter which included pulled pork, 1/3 rack of ribs, ¼ Chicken, 2 sides and 2 kinds of their homemade sauce (which they forgot to include). We opted for the fresh cut fries and their hand chopped salad. After the 35 minute wait for take-out BBQ in an almost empty restaurant, we collected our food hopping it was worth the wait. The pulled pork was watery and tasteless and the ribs were also bland with almost no char markings on them. Both meats tasted more like they had been boiled than BBQ'd. The chicken piece was pretty good and had a very mild smoke flavor. BBQ meats are supposed to stand on their own without the need for slathering of sauces, but maybe the sauces would have helped. The sides were equally as lackluster. The "hand-chopped" salad consisted of about 1 romaine leaf cut up with a few toppings. The fresh cut fries were both undercooked and overcooked. I have eaten at many BBQ joints across the country and have found some very good ones around Central PA, but Blvd BBQ is a miss on too many levels.
