Pretty impressive fare. The selection is great and the roast beef an instant fave for me. I had never eaten anywhere in Bradford before until this place. The service was good, the atmosphere inviting and the prices about what one would expect for the fare and ambience. Try it, its worth it! Good bar and drink selections.

Get the roast beef from the beef bar with the au jus from the kitchen. Fantastic!! Cajun rib eye is the best too. The building is an old library and the service is good and cheery.

Beefeaters rarely disappoints. Some go to items on the menu are the French Dip sandwich, with rare roast beef of course, the Beefeaters Salad, with rare roast beef...ask for extra beef, and the tin roof sundae. There are some things I would not order again. They had a tuna dinner special and although I asked for extra rare (seared) tuna, the piece was too thin to really pull that off. The burgers are decent, although there are better burger places in Bradford, and I was disappointed in their Caesar salad.

We ate here w/colleagues while in town for my husband's work. I was a little unsure what to expect in Bradford, PA, but this place did not disappoint! We were a bit early, so we enjoyed a pre-dinner beer in the bar. I dig the old horseshoe shaped bar, as well as it's placement. It's intimate, yet prominent, if that makes any sense. The woman bartender was perfect and fit the general bar vibe. Their beer selection is lacking (in quality more than quantity). When our dinner companions arrived, we checked in w/the hostess and were told there'd be a wait, so we headed back to the bar. It was a Wednesday night and we waited perhaps 10-15 minutes for our table to be ready. We couldn't decide between the Delmonico and the Prime Rib, so we decided to order both and split them. The side salads were fine. Simple green salads, though they were a bit overdressed. That's ok, because the meat was the star of this show! The Delmonico was cooked a perfect medium rare; delicious! The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly to the same temperature, as well. Neither of the sides (mashed w/gravy for me, french fries for him) were anything to write home about, but they sufficed. I'd have loves a fresh veggie option, instead. The desserts looked tempting, but we were too full of beef to attempt them. Where's the beef, you ask? At Beefeaters!

The fact that this restaurant is housed in a former Carnegie library building isn't cool enough, no no, they had to build a Beef Bar in the middle of the dining room, where some mystical man carves pieces of meat soaking in au jus for all your viewing pleasure. The waitresses could be a little more friendly, and the place is very dark, but the food is excellent and the place oozes class without demanding more formal attire. Definitely not somewhere to go every week, but still one of my favorite places in town.

Definitely the best place I have found to eat in Bradford. It has a very nice atmosphere and is in a beautiful building. Because of the reviews the only entree I have tried is the "Beef on a Weck" and I have been afraid to try anything else. The beef is delicious. The side salad was decent and their homemade celery seed dressing is quite good.

From a quick couple of days in Bradford, it seems like this is the best restaurant in town. The architecture is really nice and worth the visit. It makes the dinner even better. I had the filet mignon and it arrived just as I asked. It tasted great. The sauteed onions that I got with it were an extra $2.50 or something, and it was a good addition. Had I known so much juice would be on the plate from the onions, I might have asked them to drain the onions first. Service was good.

I am usually in Bradford once or twice per year on business and no trip here is complete without a lunch or dinner at The Beefeaters! The Mrs. joined me this time and she also insisted on going there. We started with the crab-stuffed mushrooms with cheese (Yum). I had the beef & noodles with mushroom (my personal favorite plus I really like mushrooms!) while my wife had a prime rib cooked to her satisfaction and side of pasta. They have a great variety of desserts but we really didn't leave much room after that feast! The restaurant itself is a delight as it was at one time an old library and still holds much of the charm with it's high ceilings and other decor. If available, ask to sit in the right side dining room as you will be entertained by the sights and smells of the wonderful Beef Bar! All-in-all, The Beefeaters restaurant always satisfies. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that I have to drive almost 5 hours to get here!

Very nice place. Lovely decor and atmosphere. I got the Chicken Roma dish with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and a salad. My meal was alright. I had to salt my chicken, which I rarely ever do, but it was very bland in flavor so I just had to. The potatoes were good, but next I go i'll definitely just get a baked potato. The waitstaff was very friendly and service was fairly quick. My friend had the beefeater sirloin and she enjoyed it. Overall a good place to go for a nice meal and friendly staff.

The first thing about The Beefeaters is the building. The restaurant is housed in the 19th century former Carnegie library which is a splendid columned edifice with huge rooms, high ceilings, and impressive stairways. The food is great. The stuffed haddock was excellent. The staff were knowledgable and pleasant. Reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Just as the name would suggest, the meat is outstanding. I make the mistake every other time of ordering the mashed potatoes and I'm immediately reminded why I don't get them; they're instant garbage. I wish they would apply 1% of the effort they use on preparing the beef to their sides and this wouldn't be a problem anymore.

4 stars for Bradford. If this was in a more populated area, I'd give it 3 stars. Tuna steak was overcooked, but roastbeef was good. Huge deserts, so save room. Cool bar area and high ceilings.
(4)Dave P.
Had a medium rare "beef on a weck". It was spot on! Would get it again upon returning. Nice old building but I can't say I was impressed with the decor. My server was very pleasant and helpful.

Bradford has a dirth of good restaurants but The Beefeaters Restaurant is a always a good choice. Great ambiance, nice bar, great beef sandwiches for lunch, dinner or later.

I feel very lucky to live where I do because Beefeaters and the Beef n Barrel are with 15 to 20 minutes from here. Beefeaters is absolutely wonderful, they have extremely good and fast service and the food is absolutely amazing.

This place was reccomended by the front desk person at our hotel. We were so glad we followed her recommendation. The atmosphere was quite charming. It is in an old library and the rooms are huge. Our food was fantastic. I had the roast beef sandwich and my fiancé had the beef on weck. He said it was the best he has ever eaten. It was reasonably priced too.

This is another quaint spot in downtown Bradford. The restaurant is in an old renovated library so it has a lot of character. My co-workers and I ordered the breaded calamari and sampler to share. The calamari was fresh and cooked well (the squid wasn't tough but still very tender). The sampler, which included onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini and fried mushrooms, was also very good. It came with bleu cheese and marinara sauce for dipping. As an entree, I ordered the sliced beef plate. The plate included a side salad, thinly sliced beef and a basket of bread. The meat wasn't super flavorful but was really tender. It tasted great sandwiched between their bread/roll with a little bit of horseradish slathered on top. It was slightly under-seasoned for my liking so I added a dash of salt which made it taste much better. I ended up dipping the make-shift sandwich into the juices/au jus which was good. Overall, it was a decent meal. Nothing really to rant and rave about but it was pretty solid.

We are staying in Bradford for a few days - spent today in Buffalo. We never managed to eat a beef on weck while we were there. So we came by Beefeaters - what a delight. Their Kimmelweck buns are baked here in Bradford and they are great. Don't laugh at the Beef Bar! Amazingly done roast beef. Beautiful building - restored old Carnegie library.

I hate using the word quaint because it can sometimes imply sarcasm and be a euphemism for "only ok". But in its truest sense of the word, Beefeaters really is a nice quaint family restaurant. When we walked in (myself, my wife and 2 young children) we were greeted quite pleasantly. The large dining room with what looked like mile high ceilings and Aunt Bea's favorite wall paper (blue pastel) reminded me of my own aunt's living room. The server was as polite and courteous as can be. You can tell the servers at Beefeaters support each other. I noticed other servers making sure things were ok. Loved that. We started with the cheddar and bacon potato skins. A little over cooked but a solid effort. The kids had the spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was just better than adequate. No mama mancini in the kitchen, but no Chef Boy Ar Dee crap either. I had the beef barley soup and opened face beef sandwich. Both dishes were good. The beef in the beef barley soup was ever soooooo tender!! Lots of gravy smothering thinly sliced roast beef on the opened face beef sandwich. Definitely reminded me of Arby's when it was first served but tasted quite a bit better. My wife had the beef tips over rice. Same beef served in the beef barley soup but smothered in brown beef gravy. (By now you should be getting the picture regarding the gravy$ Beefeaters offers 11 different desserts and a full bar for alcoholic beverages. I was exercising dietary will power and decided to forgo both. All in all, if you happen to find yourself in this part of the world, Beefeaters is a place to try. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices.

Loved the atmosphere - it's located in an old library, so it's got that "classy" feeling. It's a great venue for any occasion, especially if you want to impress a lady on a date. The lighting is perfect and there are old newspapers embedded on the table tops - awesome idea! They didn't forget to add candles either :D. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly, and the service is close to perfect overall. I tried one of the roast beef dishes (I forgot which one exactly) but it was cooked as desired and seriously had that home-made taste! Everything was cooked within 15 minutes I think. My date and I also shared an ice cream desert but I forgot the name of it! It was mostly chocolate and had a coffee flavor as well. The pricing was for the most part fair, though I think the portions could have been a bit larger. Overall it was a fun experience and I'd love to return. Too bad they don't have another location in my town!

A must have nearly every time I come home to Bradford. I remember when this building used to be the old library, it brings back memories of reading the big Calvin and Hobbes books with my brothers when we were kids. Their food is always great, the service is prompt and friendly, and Dom (the owner) always takes a moment to say hi and see how I am doing. If you are int eh neighborhood, stop in and give them a shot. Heck, if you are driving through I would get off at the Elm street exit and take the 2 minute drive to stop in for lunch, you won't be disappointed!

This place still leaves me disgusted as if it was yesterday and had to spit that nasty food out my mouth. Over 8 of my friends are there two years ago and out of all the different meals order none were worth even upping the score to a 2. No one in the place cared when we said anything.

Good food, fair prices, good service. Beautiful old building. Definitely worth the trip to Bradford, PA.
(4)Judi M.
This restaurant is in an old library which gives it such charm. My son and I had the chicken gumbo soup and beef on a wick sandwich. Both were amazing. Great service, cannot wait to go back.
(5)Ashlee C.
I enjoy coming here to get a drink at the bar. The food, however, is basic. The last time I was here I ordered salmon. While I realize this is a "beef place", if a restaurant puts something on their menu I assume they can do it well. This was not the case. The salmon was flavorless and tasted like it came out of an Aldi freezer pack. The rice that came with it was plain and flavorless as well. The consistently mediocre food I have had here over multiple visits, when compounded with the price they charge, has been enough to ensure I won't go any farther than the bar.

You cannot beat their Beef on Weck sandwich, beef dinner or french fries with gravy. It is what they do best. I avoid all else. We frequent monthly.

My husband and I were camping in the area and wanted some steak. Locals recommended Beefeaters. We were greeted cordially and seated within 10 minutes (at 8:30 p.m. on a saturday night, not bad). Waitress was clearly rushed, her speech was fast and she was hardly pleasant. We always smile and attempt to be gracious, as anyone should be, but that didn't matter. We ordered our dinners and mine was described as coming with "Rolls and Greens"....no, it didn't. It was a measly side salad with 2 rolls that my husband and I shared. No offer from said waitress for anything else. We also ate at the local Dairy Queen that weekend...their service was stellar and the older lady at the counter greeted us cheerfully and thanked us politely. Beefeaters, you should take a lesson from DQ!

Been here a few times now. Great service each time. Burgers are good. The roast beef dinner is superb. I ordered it rare and it came out perfect.
(5)Dennis Y.
Food was excellent, service was great, only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the lack of draft beers, only 2. They did have bottles from some great local breweries. I would recommend this place highly when in Bradford.
(4)Chris D.
This might be the healthiest option in town since its the only place in town where the majority of the menu isn't fried food. Although the Roast Beef Aus Jus wasn't what I expected, it was still decent, and it was a big relief to eat something that was somewhat healthy. A very limited beer selection just like all the other places in town, but at their dessert selection is pretty good.
(3)Ryan F.
Always like going here with friends and family. Sometimes it can get a bit busy and you can get forgot about by staff but the food is great!
(4)Jennifer A.
Probably one of the better restaurants in the town as I hear Kelly's has cockroaches and mediocre food. I'd say what I had was decent. The French Onion soup was good and the salad had other lettuce besides iceberg. The house lime dressing was flavorful and good. I ordered the lobster tail and garlic mashed potatoes. They were just ok. My boyfriend ordered some roast beef sandwich which was drenched in brown gravy. He thought it was alright and probably wouldn't get it again. The German potatoes tasted like they were drenched in vinegar but maybe that's the point? The rolls weren't special. The service wasn't extraordinary. I don't think our waitress or hostess even smiled once. But food and check were delivered promptly. There were also lots of old people. Probably a town favorite. The fact it was built in an old library didn't do much for me and the floral wallpaper was well dated. The bathrooms seemed well kept. Average food and ok service, but still probably a better choice for the town, I'm guessing.

Hub and I visited last night. It was the first time we had been there (we usually head to The Beef and Barrel in Olean because it's closer to home). I loved the stairway leading into the restaurant, and the cool old newspaper clipping on the table tops to read while we waited. We shared and app (blah, frozen and either over fried or the oil needed changing... ) Dinner for both of us was Beefeater Dinner Au Jus.... And it was ok. the salad greens were from a bag, but were fresh. Rolls were good, the fries were not. they use battered fries which gives them a very weird texture, especially with gravy. but the BEEF...the reason we were there, was OUTSTANDING! Prices are very reasonable. We will go again, but will try different apps and sides or just skip them, eat a plate full of meat and have dessert ;)

I wonder what Mr. Carnegie would say if he saw all of his libraries getting turned into restaurants? If he stopped here, probably YUMMY. When we checked into our hotel we asked the desk clerk where to eat and before I could even finish asking she said Beefeaters! The place was pretty easy to find, a huge brick building with only street parking. Parking could be a problem if they got busy. The soup tonight was chicken gumbo. My wife said it was a bit too zesty for her and she did not finish it. I thought it was great, I like a bit of a snap in my gumbo. The salad was fresh and cold, but they could have left off the hard as rock packaged croutons. My wife ordered the grilled pork chop. You could get one or two for dinner. The pork chops were large and one was plenty. She said the chop was well seasoned and cooked just right. I ordered the Roast Beef Dinner with gravy. The beef arrived nice and rare and had a nice flavor. It was sliced nice and thin. Nothing to write home about. I am glad I did not look at the dessert menu before I paid the bill, I am sure I would have had to have tried the Vanilla pie. Overall I liked the place and would go back. Next time I would try a steak or prime rib.

Solid place overall, but nothing I ate was outstanding. The building is amazing, and old Carnegie Library that has been converted. Amazing windows and high ceiling. What they put it in pretty straight forward americana metal chairs and tables with clippings of old newspapers. The beef on weck (short for Kemmelweck) is basically a roast beef sandwich on a bun sprinkled with salt and caraway seeds. The beef was pretty tender and cooked to my request (medium rare). I strongly suggest adding horseradish (provided on table). The German potato salad was warm and vinegar and brown sugar (very Penn Dutch rather than German). Beans were pretty good. I had a graham cracker cream pie for dessert which was also good. Clearly a local landmark, but that is likely because it has not changed in 20 years (or feels like it).

Good food and great service from this restaurant while working in Bradford.
(4)Angela E.
The old library turned in to a "beef on weck" shrine and appropriately so. I don't know if or why anyone orders anything other than the thinly sliced roast beef sandwich on a delicious kummelwecht roll, except if you come here a lot. The bar is one of my favorites in town. It's just a classy little bar and if you bring friends to chat with, it's perfect! My hubby used to come here for story hour when he was a kid :) I like that they didn't less this awesome building go to waste.
(3)Daniel C.
When in the Bradford Area Judee and I try to stop by here. They make a round of beef to die for. It gets sliced very thin (like paper) and placed on a dish Au Jus. A very famous way to eat this is on a Kummelwecht Roll - a kaiser roll with salt and caraway - called a "Beef on Weck" sandwich. Very good. I have tried other entrees at this restaurant, but return to the "Sliced Beef au jus" dinner. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
