The spicy burger is great. Juicy and perfectly prepared on a very fresh ciabatta with local excellent veggies and perfect amount of crispy quality bacon. You get fries or a small salad and highly recommend the cucumber salad- it's the perfect fresh, light ending to an otherwise indulgent burger. When I get those for $8 total... I will be back. Maybe tomorrow.

This cafe is in a location that has had many other eating places....all have failed. Sometimes a place just has a negative history that jinxes all future endeavors. OK, I am confused with the name: "The Peoples' Kitchen." are we in Russia, nah! we're not in Russia. (to quote a line from a famous movie). These owners probably were not raised during the cold war when the news would report of activities in the USSR and frequently would refer to "The Peoples' this and that-referring to how state owned business were named. Yes, I was put off by the name as it triggered memories of A-bomb fallout practice in school-under your desk kids! I remember my school was a fall out shelter and had rations of crackers and drums of water in the basement. Guys, couldn't you think of another name? I was expecting to come into the business hearing glorious military music of Mother Russia and see portraits of Lenin and Stalin adorning the walls. OK, I was wrong....onto the food.... The place was clean, although I have to admit the front door situation is odd-the door opens in, God forbid there is a fire and the place has to be evacuated. I wonder how this passed city code? There appears to be a cadre of regulars there. I was given a printed menu and the selections are sparse, but that doesn't matter as long as there is quality. I ordered the regular breakfast with sausage. It took about 20 minutes to prepare-too long for breakfast. I was ready to walk out. Please don't use the excuse that everything is prepared fresh. I get tired of hearing that. That excuse is not carte blanche for poor service. The plate was arranged very nicely and the eggs were fluffy, sausage not overcooked, bread perfectly toasted. The potatoes were another story; dry, overcooked and so hard that I thought I was eating bits of granite. I almost thought I would have to go see the dentist for cracked teeth. Sorry, I am not into eating rocks for breakfast. The place is tiny and a group of young adults came in. They were seated directly in back of me to the point of needing helmets to protect ourselves from our heads crashing into each other-that's how close they were. The place was almost empty-they could have been seated elsewhere and they also would have had more room? Prices are reasonable, but in the valley of a $2.50 breakfast, they are overpriced. I would categorize this place as an "Indie Dining" cafe. So, if you like dining indie style this place is for you! I actually ran into a former patient there, who is a regular. Unfortunately, because of this, I won't be back. Breakdown: Cleanliness: 4 stars Service: 2 stars Food quality: 2 stars Price: 3 stars Overall: 3 stars

I have nothing but good things to say here. The spot is small-too small for the grandiose flavors. I had the croissant French toast with bourbon bananas and died and went to heaven. My dining companion loved the breakfast Mac and cheese which I enjoyed as I picked at his plate. The rest of the menu looks equally enjoyable and the prices are right!! The portions are generous and the staff is friendly. Take a trip off Main St. and make sure you stop by The People's Kitchen!

Very nice, warm & comfortable; small menu but everything is very fresh and well prepared and since they cover my favorites anyway not a problem. I've been here with my husband and with friends both time felt very comfortable lingering to chat which by itself kind of stands out. We had another favorite restaurant for breakfast nearby but every time I go there the waitresses try to shove us out the door even if it's not busy and it's so offputting I just don't want to go there anymore so I was on the lookout for replacement . As a result, this particular spots great food and gracious personality has won me over. YAY, its all good

This is place is great, and good prices. Their menu is creative, so I don't recommend you take a picky eater here.

In town for a wedding, the boyfriend and I go searching for a good breakfast/brunch place. I hate eggs and toast platter so I was happy when People's Kitchen asked me if I wanted a breakfast or lunch menu or both. The boyfriend ordered their jalapeno burger and I got the quiche. The burger and quiche were both made to order. I had a bite of the burger and I was delicious! A fresh patty (never frozen) - the server even asked us if we wanted "pink" or "no pink". For $8 for fresh angus beef never frozen patty and fresh cut shoe string fries I was impressed. The quiche is good but on the smaller side, the side salad is amazing. Simple side salad but dressed so well and all the greens are fresh (no limpy leaves for me). Highly recommend.

Great little brunch spot! There is a limited menu and limited seating. There's a couple of tables and bar seating. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday and had a 5-10 minute wait, which wasn't bad. The menu is nice and concise without being distracting. The service was great, everyone was very friendly. I had the Mac & Cheese with an egg served in a cast iron skillet. It was delicious with the melted cheese and strip of bacon, I would definitely recommend it! My fiancé had the croissant french toast with bourbon bananas. I thought it was too sweet with all the caramel sauce, but he really liked it. We will definitely be going back, hopefully to try their lunch menu!

Cute little breakfast/brunch spot. Limited menu but always good specials. Get's very busy on the weekends. Service is always good and the food is always fresh.

If you want brunch on the weekend with a group of people, you better get there EARLY. We happened to go on a Sunday at 9-9:30am and it got super packed around 10:30 so we were lucky! It is a bit cramped in there so when there is a wait, it is a long wait. I loved the atmosphere, everything was so open and the cook was there in the window cooking up all of our breakfast. There are a decent amount of tables, plus the bar top to sit at. I ordered the Texas Toast french toast with bourbon banana and O-M-G, it was delicious! There wasn't an overdose of sauce, the perfect amount. So much food too. Everyone else loved their meals, I tried the pancakes with the other sauce (I can't remember) but those were just as good. All the food we had was delicious and I was told the coffee is really good. I would order the french toast again, I should try something else but it is just too yummy. Yes, the menu is limited, but I kind of like it. Not too many distractions and it's easy to choose for the morning. With how small this place is, it's better to get people in and out quickly! I will definitely visit this place again for breakfast!! I

My husband and I happened to be in the neighborhood today and found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. Best.Decision.Of.The.Day! Shrimp and Grits crepes with a chipotle bbq drizzle. It's hours later and I'm still thinking about it! Bottom line: pleasant, no-frills restaurant with a nice ambiance and excellent food. Bon appetite!

Came here with my boyfriend and his sister and it was really really good! I'm not usually a breakfast person but the ingredients all seemed really really fresh. I ordered an omelet and it was really great! Will definitely be back soon!

Excellent little cafe off the main drag in Bethlehem. My family was road tripping through PA and Bethlehem was a convenient lunch stop. Found this gem from all the great Yelp reviews and we weren't disappointed. The guys who run the place are super nice and the food was delish for all of us (including a picky 4 year old).

  • Bob L.

Always meets our expectation and then some! Love the make your own omlettes. Today went with gouda, bacon, apples and the toast was multigrain with ginger peach jelly. Awesone!

A little corner cafe from heaven. Very personal staff super delicious food. Stopped in for breakfast had multigrain bagel with Brie and honey, croissants French toast with bourbon bananas, shrimp and grits crepes side of Scrapple. All of which was awesome. I've been driving passed this place since it opened in so glad I stopped in.

I went here today for breakfast/lunch with some friends and we had an amazing experience. This new space is very cute and accommodating. The service was great and everyone was so friendly and nice, I really cannot say enough about how great everyone was, the owner even came over to our table to talk to us. And the food. My friend and I ordered the breakfast Mac and cheese which was to die for. Their menu is not large but everything sounds delicious and the choices are really creative! My other friend got the croissant French toast which was also fantastic and so different. I can't wait to come back and try out more items on the menu! We will definitely be coming back and I would highly recommend People's Kitchen!

Stopped by People's Kitchen to try out breakfast this morning and had a wonderful experience. Between the two of us we ordered french toast, hashbrowns, and created an omelet. The hashbrowns (for only $1!) were well cooked-- not overdone or mushy, but crispy and warm. The (traditional Texas) French toast was flavorful, and the omelet was full of ham, onions, and cheddar. They offer homemade bread as an option aside from the traditional offerings. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be stopping by this local gem again soon!

I took my mom out for lunch the food was really good my moms picky and does not always leave happy. She had the Irish Turkey and loved it i had the house burger and it was great the bacon was cooked to perfection. The staff was great and i loved the music. I will be going back in the near future hopefully for breakfast next time :)

Found this gem purely by accident. One chef, two servers all in the open. It doesn't " look " like a must go. However... The food and service were impeccable! I had chicken croquet with a smoked Gouda dipping sauce; my husband had a beautiful carved turkey artisan sandwich. I cannot wait to return to sample more. The menu is small but has great choices. Go! You won't regret it!

  • Laura A.

We've eaten here about 4 times and continue to be impressed. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is tasty and very reasonably priced. Atmosphere is simple and clean. The owner cooks all the food in an open kitchen. I would not recommend this place for breakfast if you're in a rush, the wait for food is a bit longer than average but well worth it. The restaurant space itself is small, which I enjoy, but if you had kids with strollers etc it may feel a bit cramped.

I stumbled upon this place about 2 weeks after opening and have loved it ever since. What a hidden gem. Every weekend they have new and interesting brunch items and a friendly staff. If you want something more than the same old for breakfast... This is the place.

Great hidden gem in Bethlehem. The place is small and has a small menu but everything is delicious. They often have weekly specials that are amazing. The regular menu is pretty basic breakfast and lunch options. I have only ever been for breakfast. I would recommend this place but I also want to keep it a secret!

Absolutely perfect! I google mapped "restaurant" because my mother wanted to go for a morning walk while we were visiting family and I wanted a nice breakfast and the google maps ranked by Yelp ratings... this is probably the most accurate information google maps has ever given me. All of the wonderful Yelp ratings were spot on! It was exactly what I wanted, almost eerie, honestly. The food was delicious, the staff was pleasant, respectful, attentive and, yeah... I'll say it, they were hot too :) I looked at the rest of their menu offerings and the next time we visit up there, I'm soooo going back to try them! (even if I have to sneak off to do it)

Hands down one of the best breakfast/brunch spots in the valley. Small quaint and intimate with absolutely delectable food. I got the breakfast Mac n cheese complete with bacon maple sausage and hash browns. My boyfriend got the SOB burger comes with cream chipped beef on it. Friendly and accommodating staff looking forward to returning

A great find in Bethlehem! After visiting with friends for the weekend I needed a place for breakfast Monday morning. This was 2 miles from their house so I thought I'd try it. It was early and I started with a very good cup of coffee. Then I had the berry compete croissant French toast. It was delicious! The waiter was very attentive and kept my coffee mug filled. I especially loved the music they were playing. ..Sinatra era tunes. Too bad my husband wasn't with me, he would have thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast experience. The atmosphere is modern and pleasant, when I get back here to visit I will definitely stop here again. In the mean time I'm passing this info onto my friends who live 2 miles down the road do that they can enjoy the experience.

Perfectly tiny place with good people and yummy food. We went on a Monday(many other cafes are closed on Monday) and it was busy. Our party of six sat in the back and each ordered something different from the menu. Everything was delicious! My dish, Croissant French Toast w/ Bourbon Bananas was Awesome. The People have spoken and The People's Kitchen is a must do when you're in Bethlehem.

This is a really cute place. It was small, quaint and friendly. The service was very nice and accommodating. I would probably rate it a little higher if it weren't for my husbands minor complaints. We came to give this place a try after hearing positive reviews and when we heard that our usual Saturday morning "go-to" was closed for the weekend. I'm a sucker for small breakfast joints and found this place to be worthwhile. I enjoyed the size and seeing that they had their regulars. The food was tasteful and reasonably priced. They have fairly creative options for breakfast and lunch including what I ordered which was their croissant French toast with bourbon bananas. It was delicious. My husband went the simpler route and got a breakfast sandwich on a bagel. The server accommodated all his requests however he felt disappointed with the size and overall taste of his sandwich. He did enjoy his side of home fries though. I think we will definitely try this place again and explore more of their menu but only when our regular place is closed.

Our new favorite day-off spot to grab a delicious late morning meal! We stopped in today at about noon, were happily greeted and sat, and then had so much difficulty deciding what to order! Everything on the menu looks fantastic. I had the crab bread, which was fantastic, and my husband had the house burger and loved the ciabatta bun. We are glad we came across this place on Yelp, and we will definitely be back!

A real diamond in the rough, clean, personalized service, simple menu with great options, super fresh homemade ingredients with Sinatra playing in the background. Class act!

This is Bethlehem's hidden gem. They do not have a ton on their menu, but what they do have it amazing. I was there for twice already for breakfast. I had the mac and cheese and the croissant french toast with bourbon bananas. TO DIE FOR. When we checked out they didn't charge us for my coffee because we waited maybe 3 minutes. Completely unnecessary! The cook greeted us as soon as we walked in. Great place with great workers! Highly recommended!

  • Deb M.

I want to like this cute little place, but twice they've messed up a basic breakfast. On our first visit, they accompanied a very skimpy and overdone omelet with one piece of cold dry toast. On today's visit, my "over easy" eggs were loose to the point of queasiness, and cold. The toast was also dry and cold, but I'll give them credit for two pieces this time. Perhaps they can't handle the crowd. I'm glad to see a local business succeed, but they need to master breakfast 101.

Right when I saw the empty PBR cans outside of the building I had a feeling this was going to be a hipster spot. Great food... Though portions could have been bigger... which was fine for my friend and I since we were going to get tacos afterward! BUT if you're not on a food tour like we were, it might be good to order three dishes to share among two. Staff members were super welcoming. Shrimp and Grits Crepe were really good! Croissant French Toast was great also.

What a find. Little neighborhood joint with great staff and even better food. Very limited menu, but what they do, the do exceptional. Seats maybe 25 people, but flow is good and well worth the wait. Billy and his crew extremely engaged and definitely know how to bring the yummy. My daughter had the breakfast mac and cheese, which is genius. I had a breakfast sandwich on a chibatta role that was delicious. Can't wait to try their lunch menu. Will definitely be heading back.

There is a lot to love at this little location. The space is tiny but warm and friendly. It is clean and well organized. The coffee is good as is the service. I only had bacon as a side but it was perfect. I also tried the bourbon banana french toast which I thought was a bit dry ( the french toast part) and the sauce which was plentiful was super super sweet. I could have been eating a bowl of caramel, it was that over the top. I wouldn't order it again. My companion had the shrimp with grits in crepes. He is a grits fan as he is a Native Texan who spent a lot of his life on the Gulf. While the flavor was good, he found the grits to be overwhelmed by the taste of the crepes. He did like the barbeque sauce on the crepes but he also added he would not order it again. This is a place I might stop by again for coffee and bacon. But I'll eat the bulk of my breakfast meals elsewhere.

Fantastic spot! I'm so glad I stumbled on this place. Even with the small menu, I wanted to try at least 3/4 of it. Mac and cheese and shrimp and grits are so unique and delicious. Definitely will be back to try more

The place you were looking for! If you are in town for Musikfest and are a smaller party, come to People's Kitchen. It's friendly, interesting, inexpensive and delicious. Parking on the street, no meters, and just outside of the Fest crowd to not be crowded.

Pancakes were big and fluffy. The eight year old approved. Specials are the brainchild of the owner. Creative with classic flavors. Shrimp and grits crêpes were flavorful. Not too spicy. Special Polish bowl was dreamed up the night before. Kielbasa sauerkraut classic. Pulled pork a bit small for the growing teenager, but tasty. French toast breakfast was sweet.

It's noon on a Monday and People's Kitchen is packed, not a seat empty. We both had the Irish Turkey sandwich. Thick-cut turkey, Granny Smith Apple, cranberry mustard on multigrain bread. Yum! Side salad, cucumber salad, or fries. You can't go wrong.

  • Maddy G.

REALLY good! Ordered the breakfast Mac and cheese and the banana foster croissant French toast and went halfsies with someone. Both were out of this world. Bill was $22 with coffee and Oj. Delicious, clean, friendly staff, and very quaint. Will definitely be back!

We recently moved into the neighborhood and heard about this little breakfast spot. What a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I shared the bourbon bannana croissant french toast and bbq crepe shrimp and grits and they were really delicious. It takes a little time to get the food because there is only one person cooking, but it's worth the wait! This will definitely be our go to breakfast/brunch joint.

Happened to be in PA for business (from NJ) and stopped here for lunch. Loved the short menu, it was simple but still very interesting. I got the Irish turkey sandwich and cucumber salad. The bread seemed homemade and the salad was so refreshing. The open kitchen was very cool. Would definitely frequent this place if I was local!

  • Cassandra C.

This place was really good! The popular thing there I think would be the breakfast Mac and cheese, I hear it's amazing. Instead I got the pulled pork flatbread with hash browns and it was seriously sooooo good!!! At first it looked small but by the end of the meal I was full for the rest of the day

This little joint is a hidden gem. Visited for lunch (2 people)...had Chicken & Prosciutto croquettes along with a pulled pork flatbread to start. Absolutely amazing. The French Turkey sandwich was incredible. A large piece of home-roasted turkey on a whole grain bread with granny smith apples and a spicy brown mustard. The cucumber salad was also very good. Overall, quality food in a very small, unassuming location. Just go there.

Visited for the first time last week after moving daughter into Lehigh. Had the bacon hash brown Mac and cheese served in a mini cast iron skillet. It was hot and heavy with love throughout -hash browns on the bottom, succulent bacon on top. Aaawesome! Wife had the thanksgiving sandwich - the bread (as well as the rest of the sandwich!) was spectacular. Staff and owner were very friendly and helpful.

Great little place for breakfast and lunch and unlike so many places these days, all cooked from scratch. So don't be in a hurry when Billy is the only one there, but it's worth the wait. Menu is simple but with some nice twists to it. I had an omelette that was nicely prepared, coffee was great and get this, real creamer in a jug, not those horrible UHT, no need to refrigerate, horrible creamers. All in all, about a month in, I think they will do well, great attitude, friendly and good food.

    (4)
  • Haley G.

Glad I tried them, but don't think I will again. While the menu IS limited, they are great choices. The reason this not more stars is the wait and that the food was alright. Because there is only one cook, you have to wait quite awhile and it isn't prompting a return for myself and boyfriend, and we eat out for almost every meal. I wish them the best of luck with their business, I hope they expand and get more space because then I will be back.

  • Brittany B.

LOVED this place! Tried it out the other week for the first time and was really impressed. As soon as we walked in the door the cook at the grill greeted us warmly, and we were quickly seated. It is rather small in there and we were a party of 2, so that helped. The menu, while very limited, is awesome! I wanted to try the hipster bagel with honey and brie, but they were out of bagels for the moment so I settled on an egg and cheese sandwich, with a side of potatoes which were excellent! My boyfriend had the mac and cheese, and said it was delicious. Everyone there was very friendly and down to earth, and I look forward to returning.

Just to be clear, this is a *second* and distinct "Mark M." giving this place a 5-star review ... and, to be sure, this place is terrific even if your name isn't Mark! It's a small, funky spot, on the southward aimed stretch of the one-way portion of Linden, just a couple of blocks north of Broad Street in Bethlehem, but *well* worth the navigation to get there. The menu is small, but extremely creative ... and the handmade food is both hearty and delicious. I had the Breakfast Mac & Cheese (complete with the added fried egg on top) and it was awesome ... as was my wife's breakfast burrito. The coffee was very good, too. Prices are, if anything, *too* reasonable, imo. (I want my good breakfast spots to be able to stay in business ... and beating "fast food" prices while delivering locally sourced, hand-crafted food is not the way to enable that!) Very well done! We'll be back .. and will be bringing friends!

What a great local breakfast experience. I'd love to have a place like this a little closer to me. Found it on Yelp, looking for a good breakfast place before District Wrestling at Liberty. It's a breakfast "joint" really. Open concept, small, homey, great vibe. We sat 5 feet from a guy washing dishes and it didn't matter a bit. The menu is limited which in this case was just fine, because all selections appealing. They even threw a special at us which my friend nabbed, Eggs Benedict with crabmeat and avocado. I had a perfectly made omelette with Gouda cheese, bacon and mushroom with locally made wheat bread toast. Bethlehem's lucky to have this joint!

  • Katherine W.

This place is seriously amazing. Be prepare to wait, their open kitchen is tiny and it's all made to order and fully worth the wait. They do simple exquisitely well and are very friendly. It'll look like a dodgy hole in the wall, do not fear. Pure magic is about to be delivered on a plate. Lovely crisp sausages, scrambled eggs with just the right amount of Gouda chopped up and mixed within (vs just laying a piece of cheese on top), good breakfast potatoes. And it cost $5.30. Amazing

Great breakfast of Mac n cheese as well as BBQ shrimp crepes. Service is personable and excellent. Only seats about 25 though but worth the trip. Will come again for lunch too!

  • Scott H.

First time in today, had the shrimp and grits crepes. It was tempting to have a simple $3 breakfast sandwich but with something inventive on the menu, I had to try it. It looked like he made the crepes from scratch, which is quite impressive, OJ was a nice size and very good, maybe not fresh squeezed but a good brand. Did not try coffee. The food was very good, not five stars since the meal had a slight taste of oil that was a bit harsh. Perhaps grape seed oil or butter would make for an even better dish. As others have said, it has nice vibe and cooking is done right behind the counter. Nice to see someone working hard to make great food. I'll be back to try a lunch sandwich since I really am rooting for this place.

This little hole in the wall is exactly what Bethlehem needs. Be aware it's a tiny place with one person working, it has the feel of a food truck that you can eat in. The menu is limited, but the breakfast mac and cheese and the croissant french toast were both original and delicious. The coffee was good and the menu unique. I liked being personally greeted by the guy cooking and the open and friendly atmosphere of the place. I think this restaurant is very promising, but go in with a little patience as they just opened and are still working out the kinks. The most important thing is that they seem very eager to please their patrons and concerned with serving good food. It was a nice change from some of the well established, but uncaring restaurants in town. I'm looking forward to trying everything on the menu.

Went to the People's Kitchen this morning with 4 of my friends. The place was full, but we were lucky enough to score a table very fast. I got the breakfast mac and cheese and added an egg to the top. It was delicious! I would highly recommend going here for breakfast, and I'll soon have to check out their lunch menu.

For the value of food and quality of service, five stars. This location is not on Main Street, so the location is not ideal; however, it is worth the short drive from Downtown Bethlehem. My wife and I ordered the spicy hamburger with ciabatta bread from the lunch menu and the croissant banana french toast from the breakfast menu. Both items were $8. If this restaurant were located on Main Street, the prices of these items would easily be anywhere from $10 - $12. Overall, food and service were great! Next time I'm in Bethlehem, I will go back and order something different from their menu.

Hen and hog was a perfect execution for breakfast but at my lunch time. I'm a breakfast anytime of day kind of guy. They were preparing croquettes so I couldn't pass up ordering those too. Chicken Prosciutto Croquets with smoked Gouda sauce!!! Welcome to Bethlehem! Billy and his team just need a bigger place to show off their great recipes one day! This small location though is simple and perfect. #lunch #brunch #tapas

A clean and modern city feel with a warm and friendly atmosphere (we were even impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms). The owner is not only welcoming, but does all the cooking himself . There was a nice selection on the menu, and the food was reasonably priced, served in a timely fashion, and delicious. Breakfast was nothing but a nice experience and we'll definitely be back! Paul and Charlotte Heebners Doors & Windows

Excellent little place off the beaten path. Waitress was very nice and offered great advice on what to get as a first timer. Plus this place is really reasonably priced!! Next time I'm in town I'll be coming here again.

After a hearty recommendation from a well travelled foodie, I found this new breakfast spot. Since it's a bit off the well beaten path (yet centrally located) I didn't even know it existed. The food lived up to all of the Yelp reviews. My bourbon glazed banana croissant French toast was innovative and well presented. Coffee fresh. Buddy had the breakfast Mac and Cheese, with an egg ordered as an extra on the top. Very good. Service was excellent, as the staff of 4 (including Billy, who we assumed to be the owner) all hustled and were super friendly. Small space but the counter was an ideal option, and to my surprise, we were seated immediately. I will be back frequently. Liked the Hipster factor - a welcome relief from the blue hairs at the diners on Sunday.

New favorite breakfast joint in b-town. They are all about serving up great friendly service and food. The banana bourbon french toast (croissant). We also feel lucky because the place is always packed, but when we arrive with a 4-top there is never a long wait. Seriously. Get the Bourbon Banana French Toast. We love this place so much we made a video dedicated to the best breakfast item. See it here! youtube.com/watch?v=JumE…

  • Joe F.

Came in from out of town and took my parents out. Absolutely fabulous. Lots of local options. Cozy atmosphere. Everything was delicious.
