If your god wanted a sandwich, where would (s)he go? - THIS PLACE! What can I say?! I came here with a friend of mine who lives nearby. We each ordered a sandwich recommended to us and our stomachs were very pleased with our decisions. I ordered a cold cut combination which was piled so high, the top piece of the sandwich was buried under stuffing and I had to eat for 10min to find it!!! I recommend that you fast for an entire morning before coming here. Also, if you can, ask a local what they recommend for lunch there as I'm sure everyone's got some opinion as to what the best item on the menu is. I will be back here before too long to order more delightful hoagies!

A staple of my childhood so maybe I am biased. My college and high school friends and I gather here for lunch whenever we are all in the area. I don't think I even have a favorite sandwich. The ones I've had are all good and you can get them just about any way you like. What's not to like about a sandwich?? The place is family owned by a wonderful family, and the staff are super speedy but manage to crack a few jokes or ask how you and your family are doing. Yeah, the line gets long, but that's just more evidence that it's good. So don't go at rush hour if you want to be in and out. Otherwise, sit down, kick back and enjoy it.

Take your average deli sandwich, and this one will be better. Anything from a BLT to a turkey sandwich is better here. They keep it simple, serving food on paper plates. The line may be out-the-door long, but that just shows how good they are. And it's run by genuinely nice people.

Cheap and unbelievably tasty. I got the Mammoth (meatballs+bacon+pastrami+roast beef+swiss?+probably more meat) off the secret menu and never looked back. Just kept coming back for more Mammoth. The times I went, I never once heard anyone complain or say his/her sandwich was mediocre. Who needs Katz's when you have The Goose?

Ahh, who doesn't love the Goose? As another reviewer said, there is a reason people will wait 30+ minutes during lunch hour just to get a sandwich here. The sandwiches are cheaper than any other deli you'll find in town ($3.80 for my usual order of the Assorted Cheese Hoagie, and most of the others are under $5.00 as well). Not only that, but they're PACKED with the all the good stuff. You get so much more meat/cheese on a sandwich than at Subway or anywhere else I've been. But the best part is probably the service. It's a family-run business, and Tony, the owner, is SO friendly and such a character! If you come here enough he'll get to know you by a first-name basis and maybe even let you name your own sandwich! He always seems so happy to be working there and it just brightens my day to go to the Goose and see him laughing and joking around with all the customers. The other staff are great as well. No complaints here, ever! As said, it you come here during lunch rush, expect a long wait. It might just be worth it, though! The Goose is definitely an integral part of South Bethlehem, and if you haven't been here, you're missing out.

Would you believe their prices used to even cheaper? And that the sandwiches used to be even bigger? Times change, but this is still the best place to grab a cheap lunch in the Southside. I personally recommend the Gombo. It's the club sandwich that you eat before you dine in hell so that you are full of protein before you do battle with the forces of evil. They also sell deli meats by the pound at cheaper prices than Ahart's (local market). Just note that they close early.

I have always found this place to be just Ok. The food isn't bad, but certainly isn't phenomenal either. Many friends of mine crave food from The Goose, but personally it's just OK for me. A plus is that the food it's pretty cheap relative to other places.

I've eaten at least 2 Guben a week for the past 4 weeks. Why? It's the most delicious Ruben I've ever eaten and the name is just awesome. Hands down best sandwich place around- not to mention the awesome staff too

Had lunch yesterday and the roast beef, russian dressing and muenster cheese sandwich on rye was really delicious. The added bonus was it was so big, I saved half of it and today when we were hit with flooding rains and I couldn't get out of the hotel (no restaurant) for dinner, it was just as good left over!

My experience with The Goose goes back to my Lehigh days when they were located up the street. Great sandwiches and friendly employees. The meats are cut as you order your sandwich, fresh rolls and great prices. I have made detours coming back home from travels to pick up hoagies from here. Absolutely love the place.

Being a former LU student, I've come here many, many times for lunch. What an amazing place. The owner is super nice, the service is fast, and the sandwiches are delicious. If you're looking for a place in the area to get a good sub sandwich, come here.

The Goose is the best place to eat off campus near Lehigh. The owner Tony is extremely friendly, always chatting with the customers and is behind the counter everyday to personally take your order and slice the meat for your sandwich or hoagie. My personal favorite is the Roast Beef Gander. This monstrosity is a double decker of roast beef, lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheese, and thousand island dressing on 3 slices of toasted rye all for only $4.19. The place gets packed with students at peak hours during the school year so make sure to allow yourself ample time.

The Goose is definitely one of the most solid places to grab a bite in the South Side. This Lehigh institution draws huge crowds - both students and locals alike - so be prepared to wait especially around lunch time and when classes are in session. Funny thing is, I'll wait a good 15-20 minutes for the food, and it'll be all gone within 3-5 minutes. Go figure. The sandwich menu is the obvious highlight here. As diverse as it is, I almost always order the same sandwiches - the Gueban or Guna Meld. Both are fresh, hot, delicious and inexpensive (as is most of the menu items). Ah, to eat cheaply like a student again!!

The best sandwich shop in the valley, by far! Tony and his staff are the nicest people in the world and he makes some incredible sandwiches for a great price. Beware the lunch line but it is worth the wait.

Without a doubt, the best value in the South Bethlehem area. There's a reason that this place is completely packed with students by 12 noon: your wait is about 30 minutes to even order. I've waited several times, but it's been worth it everytime. What makes it so great? The sandwiches for starters. The meat is absolutely terrific, and the condiments are very fresh. A regular sandwich can fill many people up at only $3.30 or so. For bigger eaters, grab a hoagie or Gander (see review above) for only $4.30 or so.. For even bigger eaters, grab a Gombo, which is two types of meat along with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and cheese between 4 pieces of bread. You might have not even finish this monstrous sandwich, and at only $5.30 or so, it's the ultimate bargain. But some places wiil give you great food with an attitude; some may say it's an acquired taste or necessary poison, but the food at the end is worth it. Not at the Goose. Tony and Deb are as good as it gets, and the staff is terrific as well. Tony will cheerfully greet you like an old friend, whether he knows you or not, and even when he's elbow deep in orders left and right (given that the Goose Caters, it's usually everyday). The fact that he's memorized my usual order (roast beef Gombo on cheddar and rye) without even knowing my name says that I either go there too much or he really knows his customers. But if you want your food without the wait, you should either wait a little longer for your lunch hour or go early. The best times are before 11:20 am or after 1:40 pm or so. I've been there several times after 2 pm, and the place is virtually deserted, so you can get your food really quickly or talk to Tony and the staff longer. My biggest gripe is that they're closed by 4 pm , so they're unavailable for dinner. Can't have it all, I guess.

Amazing sandwiches. You can get essentially any meat/cheese/dressing combo you want here. In fact, they probably already have a name for the type of sandwich you want! There is a massive array of sandwiches and you can even create your own (if it's not already made). If you can't choose, they even have a "wheel-of-fortune" type wheel that chooses a sandwich for you. Regardless of what you get, it is sure to be a tasty and exotic one. I went here with a friend that goes to Lehigh University. Luckily, he basically knew all the best sandwiches. I shared the "shotsadon" with him and BOY was it delicious. And it was massive. It would have been VERY difficult to finish it on my own. I don't even remember what was in it. All I remember was that every bite was essentially a different flavor--which was definitely a good thing. It was $7 and I split it with a friend, so I payed $3.50 for a delicious sandwich that filled me up! It's a family run store and they are all so friendly. The man who takes your order is extremely knowledgeable in his sandwiches--call out the name of one and he'll know what it is and will get right away to making it. All in all it was a great experience and I hope to go back soon to try more exotic sandwiches!
