One of the best places to get a milkshake. They really do make amazing ice cream, I had been craving one for so long and so many places had disappointed me with how thin they were. I was looking for a classic thick milkshake and I found it! My go-to cookies and cream flavor. The employees are young, I'm guessing high school students, who are super nice and friendly. They are very quick at moving through customers but doing it in a friendly-professional way. It's great having good service and good desserts! There are tons and tons of flavors to choose from. Hard ice cream, soft ice cream, cones, and they have sugar free hard ice cream options (not something I want but good to have!). I love their red spoons. Random, I know, but it's awesome. Lots of seating and parking is ample. I am sure this place is crazy busy in the summer and I can understand why. Definitely a place to visit for a good milkshake!

Had heard about this place. Just hadn't ever tried it. At MusicFest 2015, in Bethlehem S. Side Steel Stacks they had a presence. This was a chance to see if they can live up to this Yelp reputation. YES. Extraordinary ice cream. And while a single scoop was $5 they stacked two huge scoops into this cup. Needed no more food after that. What a delightful surprise. The people here were nice. Truly some of the best ice cream you'll ever enjoy.

My family and I come here about twice per month. They have a Great selection, really good ice cream and great value for the money. It can get really crowded but the line usually moves fast. My favorite is the mint Oreo. Two thumbs up

So much deliciousness in one place. I don't even know where to begin. Lots of ice cream choices and I don't think I've ever had ice cream there that was less than amazing.

While the ice cream is good, there's more to why people visit a dairy store and that is called customer service. After a long day at work, my boyfriend helped me do a lot of heavy lifting and shoveling in the garden. To reward our efforts, we decided to make the half hour walk to the Bethlehem Dairy Store on Linden St. Why? We already had pints of gourmet ice cream in the fridge. We went, because it is nice to be served at a pretty establishment, nice vintage look with all the neon lights. Looking for the atmosphere of days gone by, where a pleasant interaction between server and customer, fresh made ice cream to cool you off on a hot summer night, where you can eat inside in air conditioning or outside on a bench watching the traffic drive by. But this is what we were "treated" to... Twenty minutes before closing on a FRIDAY night, all chairs were up on the tables except for two lounge type chairs. After quite a hike uphill to get there, I was out of breath with my heart racing. I asked my boyfriend to order mine while I could sit for a moment to catch my breath. The tall young skinny girl with long straight brown hair and big brown glasses, who plainly heard me, barks out in a loud command tone at me "WHAT CAN I GET YOU???" No smile, no courteous demeanor. I ordered a small cone with two flavors. She BARKS out, "YOU CAN'T HAVE TWO FLAVORS ON A SMALL. YOU HAVE TO ORDER A LARGE!" Funny, how I've always ordered that before and got it, (there are two scoops that go on a small cone, so what's the problem with making them different flavors??) ... but okay, maybe they've changed the rules. The problem is that the rules on courtesy haven't changed. There are much nicer ways to express yourself than the attitude and tone that screamed "Hurry up and order NOW, because "I" want to go home." I immediately picked just one flavor feeling rushed and totally unappreciated for my business. She picks up a dish and then turns again and says Dish? I said no, I asked for a cone. She makes a squished face and then grabs a cone, never presses the ice cream down into the cone, so at the end, there was no ice cream to enjoy at the bottom. Now my boyfriend's turn. He asks for a soft twist. She again barks back. WE HAVE NO SOFT ICE CREAMS. My boyfriend's eyebrows went up; he was stunned. She barks again, WE TURNED OFF THE MACHINE. TONIGHT WE'RE CLEANING THE MACHINE. (Hello?? You are posted open till 11 pm, why are you turning all the ice cream machines off before closing? I just called King Cone in Whitehall to see if this is common practice. The sweet and bubbly girl that answered the phone said they never turn off their machines before closing, because that's when they are open and serving customers.) Now, it is quite possible that they let the soft ice cream run out, in preparation for cleaning the machines... but that is NOT what she implied. So, of course, he then had to look over the menu to select a hard ice cream flavor. No small feat, if you're unfamiliar with all the flavors. She impatiently stared at him with this attitude of "it's all about me, will you hurry up?" The other workers were pushing brooms all around us, making US feel like we were in THEIR way. No one smiled at the customer. There were at least ten people who came in at separate intervals after us, after we sat down outside, so to be sure, we were not there right at closing. She then BARKS back, I DON'T THINK THAT ICE CREAM WILL WORK. IT JUST CAME OUT OF THE FREEZER AND IS TOO HARD. Now get this, the ice cream he chose is directly in front of her, and it has a BIG pile of softened ice cream that was scooped from the bottom of the previous container on top of it, AND she was able to make his cone. If she learned to look and listen and think how NOT to be negative, BEFORE she chooses to bark like a rabid dog at people, she could've actually made a tip. What a concept! Our trip there was ruined. I couldn't really enjoy my ice cream. $8 for two cones of what we didn't really want or expect, and an extra helping of rude self-serving narcissistic behavior. Bethlehem Dairy Store - Major Fail... you need to TRAIN your workers in customer service, AND! you need to train the other workers to notice when their co-workers are behaving badly as well, but then again, the entire troop was focused like a cleaning brigade. Nice to see teamwork, but your customers come first. I noticed there wasn't much friendliness in the other workers as well; they seemed just as annoyed they had to take breaks from their cleaning to serve. In the future, we'll travel to King Cone when we are in Whitehall. At home, we'll head to Hotel Bethlehem or Nuts About Ice Cream, because those owners would never allow this kind of brusk and rude behavior. For late evening, we'll give the Bethlehem Parlour a shot on Broad Street next time. Late night, we'll stick to what we have in the freezer than pay for bad treatment.

Always an Forever the best ice cream in the Valley. My grand parents went on dates here. We've been coming here since I could walk and i Hope there is Never a time we can't walk in and say hi to Mr. Mowrer!

Easily the best ice cream place in all of Bethlehem. Worth waiting in the long lines during the summer for sure!

Ice cream is great! We love to buy local . Flavor Selection is amazing! The only down side is the workers are not very nice to the customer , went today as a treat for myself mans the lady behind the counter was rude and seemed annoyed to be serving me. I guess when your paying top dollar for ice cream it'd be nice to be greeted with a smile and appreciation for your business!

Great place if you're looking for a local ice cream shop in Bethlehem. Plenty of flavors to choose from. I had the Peanut Butter Cup, but there was little to no peanut butter. Kind of disappointing, but I'll be sure to try something different next time. Place was packed when I got there, but the line moves relatively quickly.

This may arguably be some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Stopped in this past Saturday during a snowfall and was instantly transported to a different time. This place is a throwback to the 1950s with a doo-wop look and old fashioned way of doing things. There were a ton of different flavors to choose from, including ice cream, frozen yogurt, and italian ice - all homemade! I had a waffle cone with a scoop of sea salt/caramel and a scoop of bing cheery - I'm not sure which was better but they were both pretty darn awesome. I also tired the lemon italian ice and that was also great - I'll get ice next time I go back. This is a must try if you are in the area!

Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream. Need I say more? Homemade fresh and delicious. I buy by the half gallon (it is a real half gallon unlike store ice cream) and they will always pack a flavor for you if it isn't in the glass case. The servers there are also really nice, they let me try a million flavors before my indecisive self can make a decision:)

Unfortunately the Bethlehem Dairy Store is close to home. Fortunately it rocks because I LOVE ICE CREAM! I'm not going to go overboard because where I grew up in Jersey I've had a couple of places like this close by, BUT! i've never been to a dairy store that I love more than The Bethlehem Dairy Store. Plenty of the best flavors to please anyones taste buds. Sometimes they add a flavor and sometimes they retire a flavor. My current favorite is the almond joy or the mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone. And I have to cover it with the brown bonnet (the hard chocolate shell that is poured on). Great sundaes and they have italian ices too. You may have to put up with lines out the door but it moves fast. The staff is young, mostly high schoolers, but they are consistently friendly in the midst of the chaos surrounding them. And the price is right. I never felt like i've spent too much.

The selection was amazing and the quality of the ice cream was bar none one if the best I have ever had. It rates up there with some of the best creameries in Boston LA New York. I had the peaches and cream and strawberry on a waffle cone and was in real ecstasy

Having lived in Bethlehem for over two years now, I'm slightly ashamed to say I had never been here before a few days ago. Thanks to the wonderful Yelp reviews I decided I had to try the ice cream! I got Almond Joy ice cream with a waffle, topped with strawberries and whipped cream for $5. Such a reasonable price for the amount of ice cream/toppings you receive! See the picture I uploaded to know what I mean. I highly recommend just coming here instead of indulging in the national brand sales at the grocery store. The price of a pint (or maybe it was a half gallon) is slightly pricey but it's so worth it. You can tell they use wholesome, fresh ingredients in their ice cream. Sometimes clean, simple flavors make the best food. The Bethlehem Dairy Store is a great example of perfect ice cream simplicity.

So, I went over last Saturday night at about 9:15 pm. The line was out the door & starting to wrap around the store. I didn't care. The whining & screaming kids didn't deter me nor did the argumentative parents or salivating grandparents. I was on a mission, and I was getting my goddamn hot fudge sundae. And, it was all more than worth it.

As ice cream joints go, this is your pretty standard "everyone goes here on a summer night in this town" ice cream joints. Being a city kid, I never had a place like this so I love places like this. The have a ton of flavors, all the required toppings, and extras, water ice (Rosati!!!), cakes, etc. When it gets busy they could use a little extra attention to keeping the cases clean, but whatevs.

This place can be overwhelming in goodness. Nestled along a busy street but close to plenty of neighborhoods, it's packed whenever the weather is nice. Dozens of freshly made ice cream flavors to start with, and then plenty of combinations with sundaes, milkshakes and other treats. Luckily this is just far enough away from our apartment to keep me fitting in my clothes. Very dangerous! :)
(5)
Phillip Y.
We stopped here after our hike on the Monocacy trail. I had the peach yogurt with huge pieces of peach. It was amazing and the next best yogurt after Wayne's Yogo place. Everyone enjoyed it here and I would pick this place again when hiking here. Plus, tons of selection of ice cream and yogurt. I saw at least 4-6 cases of ice cream tubs to pick from. Also, they are generous with their ingredients in the ice cream flavors.

This place can get packed and be overwhelming on a hot summer night, but it is worth the chaos. This is a hidden gem in Bethlehem that I used to frequent growing up when I lived in Palmer. Delicious ice cream and friendly staff. The parking lot is oddly shaped and quite tricky to maneuver when crowded so street parking may be your best bet during peak times. The counter is a wrap around and U-shaped so you can walk around and check out the variety of flavors. You can even get a sample if there is a unique flavor you want to try before purchasing. The worst part of the Dairy Store is narrowing down the ice creams you pick :)

Good lord, this place is dangerous. Hands down, one of my favorite dessert places in all the Valley, if not the best. Fresh, delectable ice cream to make you and your tummy filled with glee. Armed with a mind-boggling assortment of flavors and toppings than you know what to do with, this place knows how to make you, your family, your neighbor, your friends, your dog and everyone else you might know very, very happy. What stands out most in my head are those dreamy, thick milkshakes. Mmmm. I compare all others to these shakes. What's my favorite, you ask? Orangle creamsicle! It's a slice of orange heaven. Not in the mood for ice cream? Try their intensely flavored Italian ices and be prepared to forget about the competition. There's no real comparison here. Really. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are almost too generous. Did I really say that?! Be forewarned now. Lines can be legendary, especially in the warmer weather. This is awesome ice cream and people from all around know it. Now you do too.

I've lived in Bethlehem for 23 years. My whole family has seen a bunch of frozen yogurt and ice cream places come and go . We always wind up back at The Cup (one of its many names). I left the area for about 2 years and came back recently. The Cup is even better than I remember it. I don't know if they changed recipes or what, but it is sooo good. No lie, I've had it twice in the past two weeks, and it is 12 degrees outside. I think plain old cookies and cream is my favorite right now, but I alternate from time to time. I do miss the older lady who used to work there. She was so sweet and I am sorry she's gone. But the kids working there now are great. You better believe they work hard. Get all the fixin's you want because they have a ton, but this stuff doesn't need it.

5 stars and there is no question about it. Great service. Great product. If there is a line, get in it. Milk shakes are amazing and the sundae's can't be beat. My favorite is the fresh banana ice cream in either a milk shake or a cmp sundae. I am sure your favorite will be there as well.

Sometimes it's good that your GPS has no clue where you are going. One evening, on the way home from a family visit the kids started to complain that they were hungry, that they were thirsty, that they were... well you get the picture. Not a problem says I, I'll just punch in the nearest Wawa in the old GPS and we'll be off and gone without a problem. Next thing I know, we're off Route 22 heading south and it doesn't look like we'll be running into that Wawa any time soon. As we enter Bethlehem, I am now certain we are off track, but, as I reach around for the old-fashioned GPS (the paper map), I see a sign that says "The Dairy Store" just a block up. I could go for ice cream and so could everyone else. Well, let me just say, serendipity is for real and boy am I glad my GPS unit isn't perfect, because we had some of the best ice cream ever. Everyone was happy with all the different flavors we tried (I had Black Raspberry, which you have got to taste). The bad news for us - we now live at least six hours away - still... we could do a dairy run on a Saturday... honey, get the kids in the car...

Mmmm delicious ice cream! Me and my buddies used to come and get milkshakes over other week or so. They are soooo good here and for the price you pay it's worth every penny. The Cup, as it's also called, offers a large variety of flavors to choose from and I haven't found a flavor I don't like. This store has been around for a long time and once you try some of their ice cream you'll see why. Definitely worth a stop to! I'm actually overdue for a cup milkshake...

Go here for the best hot fudge sundaes! My high school principal (retired) owns the place and employs mostly students to scoop to the throngs of fans. This is classic Bethlehem. Formerly known as Mowrers, and then for a time in my childhood we called it Abbott's, and now it's either Bethlehem Dairy Store or The Cup, used interchangeably, I've heard - "on the street." I don't know how many flavors they have - 40? Plus yogurt, soft serve, Italian ice, sherbet, ice cream cakes, homemade cookiewiches and you can also pick up your milk, juice and bread provisions.

The ice cream is amazing! I absolutely love the Mint Chocolate Chip. The best ice cream in Bethlehem, PA in my opinion.

This review is for the customer service provided by the elderly woman who was working there today. While my family waited in the car, I walked in to see if they had fresh waffles on the menu. The old woman (in her 80s it seemed) approached with a blank look and no greeting. I was the ONLY customer there. She said nothing. I gave her a hearty HELLO--how are you today?" She made no eye contact and mumbled, "ok." What wonderful warmth. I asked if they were making waffles. Her bored, annoyed reply, "Yeah, but it'll take 15 minutes." (As if it would be an irritation to her and put her out.) I asked if they can put fruit on top. She replied, "Strawberries." I asked if they have bananas. She said, annoyed, "Yeah, but we put strawberries on it." As if such a request was a great imposition and required some sort of higher-level education in order to add a different type of fruit. Turned off, I left with a car full of would-be customers. I know the ice cream is great, but would someone teach the old lady how to smile... be friendly... and interact with other humans like she really cares that they came to give her their business? (Or at the very least, fake it?)

Absolutely marvelous ice cream to be eaten here. I've always come here throughout my 22 years and I always enjoy another trip. The best part of this place is the fact they have sugar free ice cream(my aunt and uncle are diabetic) and that just adds so many points in my book. Take a stop in some time and really fall in love with what they offer

OK, so they have a line out the door. But the ice cream isn't much different that B&R or any other chain. Even though it's not one, they sure do seem to serve something Breyer's would be proud to call their own.

top notch ice cream. gets really crowded at times but line moves fairly fast. think the prices are a little high (for sundaes) but it hasn't ever stopped me from paying it. staff could be a little more attentive on serving ice cream and a little less interested at shouting at and teasing each other, but at least they're having a good time.

At home, we'll head to Hotel Bethlehem or Nuts About Ice Cream, because those owners would never allow this kind of brusk and rude behavior.

Amazing!!! Had a milkshake and hot fudge Sundae... Ice cream is homemade and wonderful, service is great local high school students Can't wait to go back again tonight!!!!

(5)G M.
(5)Buffi H.
Awesome! I was craving ice cream and it's open until 11 pm. Hooray!!!! Visiting from California for a lacrosse tournament. So much fun.

(4)M W.
Best ice cream in the Lehigh Valley. The best. Peanut butter swirl is real satisfying. My wife had the Almond Joy cone and she loved it.
(5)Anthony B.
(5)Jaclyn V.
(5)Joshua H.
(4)Law H.
The selection was amazing and the quality of the ice cream was bar none one if the best I have ever had. It rates up there with some of the best creameries in Boston LA New York. I had the peaches and cream and strawberry on a waffle cone and was in real ecstasy
(5)Michelle R.

(5)Phillip Y.

Best ice cream in the Lehigh Valley. The best. Peanut butter swirl is real satisfying. My wife had the Almond Joy cone and she loved it.

Amazing!!! Had a milkshake and hot fudge Sundae... Ice cream is homemade and wonderful, service is great local high school students Can't wait to go back again tonight!!!!
(5)Sammy G.

(5)Buffi H.
Awesome! I was craving ice cream and it's open until 11 pm. Hooray!!!! Visiting from California for a lacrosse tournament. So much fun.
(5)Tony R.
My family and I come here about twice per month. They have a Great selection, really good ice cream and great value for the money. It can get really crowded but the line usually moves fast. My favorite is the mint Oreo. Two thumbs up
(5)Seana C.

Mowrer!
(5)Allen B.
Very townie but a great little spot.
(3)Shawn B.
Easily the best ice cream place in all of Bethlehem. Worth waiting in the long lines during the summer for sure!
(5)Shawna H.
(3)Miguel S.
(5)Ben P.
(4)Gregory K.
One of my favorite places to go for ice cream either with the family or my girlfriend. They have a wide variety of flavors and have a nice crew there.
(5)Diane H.
(5)Jim D.
(5)Laura K.

(5)Kent F.

(5)Brian L.
(5)Rich S.
Great home made ice cream. Especially the chocolate varieties. Good deep flavor. Cheaper than the Carvel down the road & better quality.
(5)John K.
The ice cream is amazing! I absolutely love the Mint Chocolate Chip. The best ice cream in Bethlehem, PA in my opinion.
(5)Ed S.
(Or at the very least, fake it?)

blahblahblah i eat ice cream blablabla they have lots of flavors blablabla. seriously, its just ice cream... eat it if you want.
(4)Brett B.
The Bethlehem tradition. nuff said.
(5)Kyle S.
(5)Bob B.
OK, so they have a line out the door. But the ice cream isn't much different that B&R or any other chain. Even though it's not one, they sure do seem to serve something Breyer's would be proud to call their own.
(3)Chris M.
If you want an old-fashioned ice cream sundae, with hot fudge, peanuts, and whipped cream, THIS IS THE PLACE!
(5)Rachelle B.
top notch ice cream. gets really crowded at times but line moves fairly fast. think the prices are a little high (for sundaes) but it hasn't ever stopped me from paying it. staff could be a little more attentive on serving ice cream and a little less interested at shouting at and teasing each other, but at least they're having a good time.
(4)John F.
Best ice cream in the Lehigh Valley! Try the CMP (with banana ice cream, preferably) or some type of thick milk shake. When you're finished, walk around the corner to Vegan Treats and have a Cowboy cookie!
(5)Vanessa W.
This place is a legendary local favorite. They have great ice cream and friendly service. The owners are just wonderful, and even have been known to help their down-on-their-luck employees with college.
