This is a dive bar through and through. Even though smoking is not allowed in the main bar area, you still can catch a wiff of smoke from the outside seating area. Yes they have craft beers but their selection is not too extensive but they offer all the main staples you would expect from a dive; PBR and the likes. I've eaten here twice and the food was always good. I asked if their wings were breaded and told no, but they are, just as a heads up. Their happy hour prices are great and available on the weekends. All in all, a great little place to get a decent meal and a cheap drink.

There's something about this place ... It feels close to home, when you walk in and the guys who work there glance up and give you a smile and make you feel welcome. that's the BT! The Berwyn Tavern has always been my favorite standby... From when I was 21 and falling in love for the first time to now with kids. The BT has always been my favorite dive bar. Now... It has really good bar food! When the world hands you "Life" I come home to the Berwyn Tavern for fantastic food, really great tunes and a warm vibe. It is truly the best!

Berwyn Tavern has very good food, cold beer, and a casual atmosphere. In summer, you can watch Phillies games that are projected on a giant screen on the back porch. Only negative is they are in desperate need of a website.

DIVE BAR +++! If you are lucky enough to pull into one of the 6, that's right I said 6, parking places in front of this joint you'll note that the outside screams dive bar. You'll continue thinking that if you sit at the bar made of stained and varnished plywood. As you begin to experience it you'll see why I added +++ to your typical dive bar. +#1- The overall ATMOSPHERE here is special. The crowd is a wonderful mix of every age and type. The place is clean. You got your outside porch that's enclosed in the winter and open air in the summer. You have an upstairs for a quieter experience. You've got a TouchTunes juke box enabled for your phone app. Golden Tee is there. The tables are nicely spaced and comfortable. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and provide excellent CUSTOMER SERVICE. The overall vibe here is just great. +#2- Of course there is as a full bar but the BEER choices are definitely a step up from the typical dive. There aren't a lot of taps but the bottle list is very good. Unless you are a serious beer snob, brew drinkers will be content here. BTW, there was even a small specialty martini list posted above the bar, +#3- The menu here is a big STEP UP from a typical dive. How about a big basket of hot and crispy TRUFFLE FRIES for $4.50? Or maybe a HOUSTON BURGER topped with pulled pork, an onion ring, and more for $9 and change. Note that they have a smoker outback so if you are a carnivore you are likely to be a happy camper. If you want to call this a dive bar that's OK but it's a TOP TIER dive bar that is worth a visit. I'm betting a second visit will follow quickly!

Just a great place. Parking can be a bitch but worth it. Good food and drinks. It has a nice outdoor area great for summer nights.

Perfect. Always. Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices. Parking is a minor annoyance, this place is well worth the hassle.

I don't mean to offend the locals who clearly love this place, but I was underwhelmed by the Berwyn Tavern. And I do like a good dive bar now & then. Yes, it's a retro shot & beer dive bar, and yes it's not a chain restaurant/bar, and the low wood ceilings are cool and all. However, slow service, dirty bathrooms, and an (apparently) broken AC system on a hot afternoon do not make for happy patrons. Some of the specials listed on the blackboard sounded good and a few healthy options were there as well, but the bar appetizers mostly looked greasy & deep-fried. Unless you are one of the first six patrons of the day/night (or maybe you slept over the night before), you will not find parking here, on premises. So pay attention when you dash across Lancaster avenue after imbibing a few craft beers, to get to your parking spot down the street & around the corner. IMHO, if you want a good dive bar, there are better choices. I've been here twice now, and I am not sure I'll be back.

Great food and beer on tap. Parking is limited out front. Otherwise, parking is down the street on the other side of lumber yard.

We've lived in the area since 1989 and have never been here. Geez Louise. What a waste of time. My husband met an old friend at the dog park who mentioned this place, so we stopped by on her recommendation. Mind you stopping by is not that easy.........unless it's after closing time at all the other business' in the area. Parking is a b----. Perhaps that is why we've never come before. I always thought this was a staged storefront for the lumber yard to tell you the truth. But it's a dive bar. Very homey place. We walked in on one of the coldest nights of the year so far and it was warm and toasty. Make sure you wear layers cause depending on where you are sitting you may need to peel off clothes. There were folks of all ages here from wee little ones to craggy old ums. The required huge silent (thank you lord) TV's were up on the wall playing hockey, Bball and football. The food prices are extremely reasonable. The tables covered by black and white check linoleum. Is that right? Well you get it. I asked the waiter, what was better the burger or the mushroom, onion cheesesteak. And he said the cheesesteak was awesome. So I said I'd have awesome....................and...........it was! And so were the waffle fries that came with it. OMG I could only eat half. My husband got the cheese fries (why? I have no idea) and I can't even remember what else he had. GO FOR THE CHEESESTEAK with onions and mushrooms. I suppose I'll try something else when we go back. They have a patio out back and an upstairs. I imagine it can get very loud and crazy here on a busy night. Thank goodness we went when it wasn't crowded. I liked it.................not many places get 4 stars from me.

This bar rocks, great locals atmosphere and great food. Selection of beer in bottle and tap is great and the outside deck is awesome.

Great food! Had the special, Ahi tuna sliders... Amazing! Better than "bar" food. This place is a food secret in Berwyn. Plus, great people behind the bar

Waiters and bartenders are great! Great outside seating. Oh! && Get the truffle waffle fries with your meal..Best ones on the Main Line!!

Good food and good beers. The wings taste pretty good, but they are very much on the small side (keep in mind I've only been there once). They have a smoker out back and I got the smoked brisket sandwich. I would get it again, but I would ask for cheese, lettuce, and tomato on it. One of the biggest draw backs is that it is hard to walk to (from the west anyway). The parking also seemed quite limited.

The Berwyn Tavern might be the perfect local bar. Good food, a good beer selection, good (cheap) drink specials, fun, friendly service from staff who strike a nice balance between professionalism and local bar informality. They've got a pool table on the back deck, which is open-air in the summer and screened in and heated in the winter. There are plenty of TVs for sports watching. The place has something for everyone

An establishment set's itself apart when it can pack itself with all the essentials for having a good time. Berwyn Tavern is a place where you can always have a good time. It is packed almost wall to wall with sizable HD flatscreens for viewing many different sporting events. The food itself is well above Bar food average. It has an upstairs for added space and to allow for a sometimes quieter experience. It has an outdoor deck with a bar that allows for smoking patrons to avoid rain and inclement weather. BUT, its selling point is it's specials. Each night the Tavern offers a myriad of drink and food specials that make every trip a worthwhile occasion of wetting your whistle and appeasing your taste buds. Berwyn Tavern is your best bet for a fun time at a nice neighborhood bar.

I absolutely love BT! It is a good local bar that has great service and awesome food! When you look at the menu, it looks like typical bar food, but they always have some type of amazing special. Honestly, I can't really comment on their regular menu because I always get something off of the special board. I have had specials like jambalaya, Thanksgiving dinner on a roll, shrimp po' boy, smoked turkey leg (that they smoked on the property) and so many other delicious meals. You never know what you are going to get, but it is always good. They also will cater to you if you want something different. I typically try to avoid carb loading (I am a sterotypical girl, always trying to lose weight), so they have taken a sandwich special and turned it into a platter instead. It is a hidden foodie gem. They always have some type of drink special and they frequently have food specials as well. If you are looking for a great meal and a few (or a lot) of beer, this is a great place. The only down side of BT is the parking. There is about 5 spots out front, but there is the train lot right next too it too. We have parked there a few times when we couldn't get a spot in front and have never had a problem. There is also street parking across Lancaster from BT.

Good for football/soccer. Nice bar, great staff. Food is good for a bar. And they now have stella on tap :) Only 4 spaces though but station is close which Ive parked in before.

Just was there last night. Good place to get away. Ate outside on the deck. Food was good and so was the service. Had a smoker that made some great wings. Beer selection was nice and just a very laid back place. The only issue I had was that the parking isn't the greatest and getting into the place can be downright dangerous.

OK, let's talk about the good. There has been a chef hired for the past few years who has made DRASTIC improvements to the food. I've had cheese steaks, cuban sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, and of course, their world-famous Dreek Fries (what I call their cheese fries) which are some of the best in the industry. The bad? Not too much. They often run out of the "nicer" beers (i.e. Victory or Sam Adams Seasonal) and the "female companion" once had a so-so salad. Other than that the atmosphere is great and we've happily come to this jewel many times. Actually, I miss this place a lot. It's great.

Found this place by using Yelp. None of us knew the area at all (we were there for a funeral). Stopped in for lunch (did park at the train station - the parking lot here is very small). Had the most delicious tomato bisque - and my sister had the French onion soup - both were great. There were three of us and we ordered a turkey reuben, hawaiian flat bread, and a hamburger. The reuben and flat bread were perfect, but the hamburger was not as well done as my sister wanted it. When the owner came by to check on our food, it was mentioned that the hamburger was still too pink. The owner took the hamburger away and they cooked another one! Great service! Such a nice experience. If we are in the area again, we would be delighted to come to Berwyn Tavern.

Berwyn Tavern is what a neighborhood bar should be. Friendly service, good drink specials and a lively mix of older and younger patrons enjoying drinks and some simple food.
