My mother and I went there tonight. All we ordered were a couple of drinks, an omlette, and a ceasar salad. After an hour, we asked where our entrees were. She said that they were backed up due to the large party that was there. Keep in mind that we've been there on their half price Monday where it's much busier than this. After 10 minutes we asked again where the food was. She said that she would put a rush on it which tells us that they never started the meal which should take under 5 minutes to cook considering that it was just an omlette and a ceasar salad (which doesn't require cooking). After that, we just left. The guy at the counter still made us pay the bill for what we ate and said that if we came back that he would give us a free drink instead of just comping us for the meal. He had told us that the waitress forgot to give the order to the cook due to the apparently extremely large party of 15 people that was there. When he said that about the "free" drink which was watered down and had very little alcohol in it, he had a smirk on his face that made me wish my step-father was there so that he could tell the man off. My feeling was that they did not want to have us there for some reason. Regardless, they were less than professional and after the few other times when we were there and it was decent, this was just beyond unacceptable. I would never go here again.

Always great diner food at great prices and great service - phenomenal happy hour deals (we went there at around 5/6 PM on a weekend after being on the river all day and were all starving and stuffed ourselves silly for about $10 a person with their early dinner specials!

This place used to be great but it's going downhill. I was there recently and my burger was very dry, my boyfriends chicken parm was burned and the pasta had a puddle of water on the plate. I didn't think you could ruin chicken parm. My long island ice tea tasted overwhelmingly like rum. I like the Mandarin chicken salad and the southwest chicken salad.

I actually quite like this diner. There is something for everyone here, as their menu reads like War and Peace. Their bar scene is cute and everything I have ever got here was good. Not absolutely amazing, but what do you expect at a diner?

An outstanding experience. They allowed minor changes on my daughter's burger with a smile. The waitress made sure my salad was exactly what I wanted.. My daughter is very shy. She was so impressed that she introduced herself in Michel. After she dropped off the check my daughter told me she was so nice we should leave an extra large tip. This was a first for her.

good diner food with reasonalble prices. they have a ridculous menu. you could go there every day for a year, and get something different every time. i recommend getting a "vip" card. no charge, and for every 100 dollars you spend, you get 10 credit for next visit. cant beat it. they also have 1/2 off entire menu deals on wednesdays. try their sizzlin fajhitas, cream chipped beef in a bread bowl, and artichoke dip in a bread bowl. very nice!

I don't even know how to start. Now Pub 2900, by far was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had and that's saying a lot. Went there on a Saturday and the place was empty which should have been my first sign. After we waited for 15 mins what I think was the host came over and asked if we have been greeted yet. When we told her no, she screamed across the restaurant to someone to take care of our table who screamed back "ok". 10 mins after that she finally gets to our table. Should have walked out then and there but I was tired and hungry and just wanted something to eat. My table actually had to get up and go to the bar for our own drinks because after taking our order, the waitress never returned. Finally after about a 45 min wait we got our food. I ordered an omelette which had one piece of cheese and no kidding bacon bits like you shake onto a salad... 2 ordered burgers which somehow were rare on one side and well done on the other side. Burgers were supposed to be waffle fries and came out with sweet pot fries with no notice that they were out (or maybe they just don't know their menu). Man, I could go on but this review is already too long. Just don't go here. Drive another mile and you'll find much better choices. Don't be dumb like me.

Good diner right across from the PARX casino. Menu is standard diner food and the atmosphere looks like they are trying to keep up with the many places in the neighborhood. Good for breakfast...pass on the rest. This was probably the bast place to hang out for the older crowd until the casino stole all of their early morning clients. The service was ok but I was very out of place. Maybe because I was the darkest skinned guy in the place...but this is about the food and the decor, not the surprised looks from the patrons. I recommend it for a decent price and food but not to hang out for a sporting event or night with friends.

We woke up on Christmas day and happy to go to breakfast. We found Great American Diner when most of the stores and restaurants were closed. It's not IHOP or Denny's when it comes to price, but its christmas day and we did not have much choice or not wanting to go out of way. Great American has classic dining interior. I liked my french toast but my iced coffee is just regular and nothing special. This is a good alternative diner.

I desided to go back for the Breakfast again. When you walk in there is a board with all the great specials on it. Many to choose from. Like the pizza omelette to the the waffle with strawberrys and bananas. When I arrived around 8am the place was empty, but notice after about 20 min, this is one of the diners that gets so packed with people. More then I even expected. The service was kinda slow, I guess thats expected, when it's only one waitresses working one side of the Diner and waiting on so many. And servers Atleast could be in a much better mood. But that will not stop me from Raven how good their breakfast is in the morning. The coffee was not bad. Just waiting on the next cup takes awile. The menu is alot to choose from. Atmosphere is good. I wound up getting the waffle with Bananas and strawberrys. And yes was good, strawberrys and bananas fresh. Would definitely get it again. Look forward to coming back in the near future.

My boyfriend THREW UP after eating this place's disgusting sh*t they call food. He ordered a blitz thing or whatever breakfast crêpe thing filled with "soft cream cheese" which looked more like cottage cheese. I tried it, it was appalling. I had eggs toast and bacon, the bacon was undercooked and so were the "homefries" which were like raw potatoes. on top of that, the service was horrible. we waited 45 minutes for our breakfast. Needless to say we will not be back here.

Definitely a fantastic place to go to, with awesome food and atmosphere. the menu is so big and has so many choices! The only negative I have about this diner is the service sucks. your drinks will come out about the same time that you're paying your bill and the servers tend to get a bit attitude-y if your remind them about the missing beverages or how you still don't have a fork. The bar is always busy and seems to be really popular, with a good amount of EVERYTHING. I recommend coming here, but if you're one of those people who notice that there's missing items from the table, I suggest you go somewhere else.

I was so hoping that since the name changed (pub 2900) the food would be better than the reviews. Let's just say that if I went into a the poorest public school in the area and purchased a school lunch, it would be better quality that the mess put in front of me today. My husband and I started with the fresco bay crab dip. The color and texture of this so called dip could only be described as egg saladish. I tasted zero crab. It seemed to be a sort of cheap generic version of melted velveta cheese. The best part of this app was probably Tortilla chips. The main course- my burger aka a slab of frozen patty and onion rings was just not something I was even willing to eat after the first bite. The onion rigs had no flavor and the "zesty sauce" that came with it clearing was past its expiration date. Needless to say I won't be coming back. But thanks to the waitress that offered me a coupon as an apology. Much appreciated.

I haven't been here in years, but a craving for the creamed chipped beef in a sourdough bread bowl brought me back. This place is exactly what I want in a diner. Good food, fast, and breakfast available all day. The atmosphere is nice, quieter than a typical diner, and as my fiance said, the dining room looks like home. My toddler's chicken tenders came out too hot to eat, but I prefer that over cold. A few minutes later he was happily chowing down. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Definitely will be back.

Just don't. Food was not great and its pricey. The server was nice. My mother in law s Salmon was soooo dry it was inedible. The crab cakes were very fishy with little real crab meat in it. It reminded me more of a diner than pub.

What can i say about this place? Stay away! There is a variety of other food options - diners and restaurants - within a half mile of this place and my experience mirrors many of the other reviews of that place here. "Special BBQ" was THE worst bbq i have ever tasted. Even covered with HUGE amount of BBQ sauce, it reeked of something that i don't want to be near. Amazingly enough both bbq chicken and ribs. The specials here come with a soup or salad and you can guess the rest. Both of us had identical experience with our orders.

So apparently this place is going by "The 2900 Pub" or whatever now, but the interior is still exactly the same as it was when it went by "The Great American Diner and Pub". I would give this a one star review but everything about my experience here was so bad it was entertaining. Literally, it was like a scene out of Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares. Firstly, everyone my group encountered sounded like they were on the cusp of getting throat cancer. Which, fine, whatever, at least they didn't reek like cigarettes. However, our waitress was what took it from "fun divey bar" to "we should not have come here". After giving us our waters, she advised us to make sure we use the straws provided because she doesn't "trust the dishwashers". Then my boyfriend decided to order a Magic Hat #9 off the draft list. This AMAZED the waitress. "A magic what? Number nine? I've never heard of that beer!" Seriously. Those were the exact words out of her mouth. And it's not even like the draft list was extensive; it had maybe 10 beers on it, half of which were your standard Miller/Heineken/Bud/etc. We ordered onion rings for the table, which was also met with a comment from our waitress. Nearly everything we did was met with a comment. "It's good that you guys are just going to nibble on things!", "Are you sure you feel alright honey, you sound like you're getting sick!", "Don't suck that drink down honey, take your time!", "Wow, you guys really are nibbling!". All of this on top of the fact that the roof was visibly leaking and when we told our waitress about it, she just laughed it off and thought it was cute that we noticed. They should really go back to being The Great American Diner and Pub and using Ryan/Armstrong High School kids as wait staff.

This place has a really cool vibe. It's decor is like a diner and pub mixed into one and seems like one of the late night spots that people go to out here. A lot of the places in this area are really dead at night so it was great to see some folks. The staff was very friendly from the host that seated us, to our pleasant server, Tiffany. I ordered the fish and chips and it was PLENTY for $13.99. It came with a salad and 4 nicely sized pieces of cod with a baked potato. Everything was great, even the tartar sauce. We all know everyone's tartar is not good. I'll definitely eat here again when I'm in the area.

Me and my girlfriend came here for dinner last night and I would have to say it was the worst experience at this place. It was the American Diner last time I came here (great food and service then) but has recently been renamed PUB 2900. The server we had was absolutely horrible. While giving us our food my girlfriends hamburger bun fell onto the food tray so she picks it up with her bare hands and puts it back on the burger like nothing happened. I ordered the sizzling fajitas and the tortillas were so hard and dry that I could've tossed one like a frisbee through the window. Never refilled our drinks and I found it very strange that the hostess was coming around asking if everything was alright. The menu was too shabby... Needless to say we'll never go back again.

I wish I could give this place minus stars. Simply terrible. I used to frequent this place before I was even old enough to drink. It was THE place to go to smoke cigarettes, drink coffee, eat good food, and relax with friends before or after the night's activities. The menu used to be huge -- what seemed like endless pages full of hot, delicious foods. Perhaps this is why today it is such a disappointment. I went last night and my service was terrible. The food was worse. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, ribs "special" -- which I guess was the same as the regular ribs but a free slice of cake, and the chicken croquettes. Let's begin with the appetizer: actually, not bad. The dip itself inside the bread bowl was the only positive thing about this meal. The chips and "soft" pretzels served with it were both terribly stale. The ribs, my boyfriend said, were the worst ribs he had ever eaten and I believed him. He first tried to pick them up with his hands and break them apart -- no dice. Then he tried a knife and only with much struggle did they finally separate. It hurt me to watch him eat them. Dry. Flavorless. "The chef does not know how to cook meat," he said after his first few bites. I always order the croquettes at a diner. It's the only place to get them and it's also fun to compare. The only good thing about this entree was the mashed potatoes which were surprisingly homemade. Why you would drown chicken croquettes in a white sausage gravy is beyond me. They were completely saturated with gravy that I was scooping off in chunks and they were still covered. The inside of the croquettes was very thin. Did not seem to be any actual chicken inside -- probably just filler. The portion was huge! But the croquettes over all were disgusting. The sausage in the gravy was iffy, at best, and honestly, I lost my appetite. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. Weird how this place managed to mess up what was probably generic Velveeta Shells and Cheese. My server rarely made an appearance, and even though I barely touched my food, she didn't seem concerned. I asked my boyfriend if he wanted his free cake, but at that point he was pretty fed up and disheartened which was fine because our server didn't even ask him if/what he wanted. $42 for pretty much the worst diner meal/meal I've ever eaten period. Truly the end of an era, but based on the rest of these reviews, that era has been over for quite some time.

Long time customer and today's breakfast was appalling. The restaurant was very crowded and there was about a ten minute wait for my boyfriend and I. No big deal and sometimes a really good sign. The restaurant recently changed hands and the last time I came my go to dinner usual was sub par but the rest of my parties food was fine. So anyway change of hands then also a deal popped up online $10 for $20. So here we are and we sat and waited no big deal. I ordered a waffle and unfortunately found out the waffle maker unexpectedly broke. All still not a big deal I subbed out the waffle for cinnamon toast. Food finally came after another few mins and both my food and my boyfriends was ice cold. The cinnamon toast wasn't even made right! It was raw butter with just cinnamon on top! What the hell happened to this place! What a disappointment!!!!

If I could give this place a minus 5 stars I would!!!! Horrible food & the worst service I've ever experienced especially with myself being a server! If you can't serve then don't! We definitely will never be going back, only reason we went, was because we thought great it's under new management we'll give it a try ........ BIG MISTAKE!! Never going back!!!!

The food is getting better. The potato soup needs to be creamer. And I like that they cleaned up the chairs and fixed things here and there. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD....redo the bathrooms. The ladies room is absolutely disgusting. Stained toilet seats that are also broken.

Happy hour is one of the best in the area. Not sure if they still do their $3 long islands on Fridays? But they're good and get you where you need to be after a long day. I came here on a Monday evening with a friend and ordered the five course meal. Everything came out so fast, it looked like we were at a buffet. Salads, soups, appetizer, entree, and dessert at the same damn time practically. Good service But they need to time things a little better.

Wow...so the pub was never great..but with new management this place is just awful. We ordered the "Three Cheese Quesadillas" and when they came out it looked like something that was made in a college dorm. The quesadillas had three different slices of processed cheese that was most likely microwaved. It was absolutely disgusting and I definitely won't be going back.

Like all diners, the reason you go here is breakfast. Their breakfasts are consistently good, and by all means, get the Monte Cristo, it's by far the best item on the menu. Who can resist cheesy fried goodness? Well, maybe that's not your deal, but their breakfast foods are pretty awesome. Also, this place is great for morning mimosas. Trashy? Maybe, but why not indulge? I'm docking them a point for their lunch/dinner meals though. The quality has gone way down over the years, and I rarely ever order any of their entrees (except the Philly burger, which is one of few stand outs). Service is hit or miss, decor is rapidly aging, but I still love a lazy weekend morning there.

I have been here several times. Unfortunately it is a big hit place for meeting up with friends.. The menu is extensive however every time I come here for breakfast I end up getting poor service and dirty utensils. Do not recommend for morning service but for the evening the shakes are pretty good when meeting with friends

My mom and I were car shopping and stopped here for lunch. We both got fajitas and they were very good. Service wasn't so great but our waitress was very nice. The food was great, the atmosphere was great too. If i lived around here i'd definitely come hang out here. I'd come here again if I was in the area & looking for a casual place.

This place is the typical diner. Food was mediocre. Waitress was friendly but aloof. I got a grilled cheese which could have been a little hotter. Fries were also cold. We got the spinach and artichoke dip in a bread bowl. That was ok.

I totally love this place and I only tried it once. It is unique from most diners I've been to. I just learned everything is half off on Monday. They have karaoke night on a certain night- I don't know which night yet.. I will be there when I am nearby in Bensalem! I found this place while exploring the restaurants along Street Road and what do you know! This was my last photo walk review and I decided to eat here- and now I am glad I did! Great American Diner (Bensalem, PA) has made it among my favorite 3 diners, Silk City Diner (Philadelphia, PA) and Minella dine (Wayne, PA).

Definitely a fantastic place to go to. The food is always good and the atmosphere is great. The one problem I run into there time and time again is that the service is pretty bad. You will be waiting for drinks for a while. They have a bar here that seems to always have a large crowd of people and again, a good atmosphere. People rave about this place when I take them here. It is worth coming for the specials, singing nights, everything.. Just don't come in if you're really thirsty!

This place used to be a decent place to eat. My wife wanted to take me out for father's day breakfast so we could spend some time together before she had to go to work. We have eaten here before and when we pulled in the signs said under new owners so you would think OK great place even better well what an experience. We put our names in and was told it would be a 10 minute wait no problem they were calling names out loud and using the pa now we are about 15 feet from the front desk so we sit at the bar and order a cup of coffee and wait for 20 minutes and my wife gets up to find out why it's taking so long they claim they called our name already which they didn't but seated us anyway. Now you would think a restaurant would give you a menu right? What we got was a page with about 8 choices and a fruit salad on the back and nothing that interested either of us besides my wife is diabetic and I am on a special diet they might as well tell you what to eat. Well it takes almost 10 minutes before the waitress gets to the table so we ask for the regular menu and she said she had to ask the manager if it was OK. and 20 minutes later and she still hasn't returned so we looked at another waitress and explain what is going on and she to went to ask the manager if it was OK to have the regular menu and another 10 minutes went by and she finally returned and shrugs her shoulders and said she doesn't know why the manager hasn't responded at that point we got up and left after a hour an ten minutes of waiting. We will never return to this place there is no excuse for this kind of service especially on fathers day what a way to start the day. I would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. zero stars out of 5. but yelp makes it so you have to give at least one star so I give one under protest I wish I could give -stars fix the app yelp!

Although the menu was large and had lots of variety, service was slow and lacked personality. We often had to ask for refills which ended up being forgotten. The restaurant had a comfortable look. The food was average at best. Ok for a rush, with time would not revisit this location.

The restaurant layout and atmosphere are very unique and tastefully thought-out. They feauture a large, detailed menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also seem to have good happy hour specials at the bar, which I think is very underrated. The food is definitely better than average...especially the breakfast options. Very reasonably priced!

Oh, if I had a dollar for every time I've been to the Great American...I'd have like $15. GA has been a fixture in the Bensalem area for a very long time, providing 24-hour, reasonably priced fare to large crowds of appreciative locals. While the food is your standard diner lineup, there are a few things you should know: 1) Monday is half-priced day: everything is half-priced, all day. We had a breakfast for 4 here for $15 one time--ridiculous. As you might expect, it gets pretty packed. Luckily, the place is cavernous and can deal with the crowds. 2) there are half-priced drinks at the bar *every night from 10pm-midnight*. yes, you read that correctly. You can choose from a great selection of drafts and pay like $2, or get any other drink you want. It gets crazy at the bar on weekends during this time, as you can imagine. 3) the crowd is highly variable and can be starkly different from night to night. One night we had a great time with upbeat, pop-y music playing on the juke box; the next the playlist was taken over by some scream-o metalheads playing an endless progression of torturous displays of sure-to-be larynx damage. 4) they will ID you and give you a bracelet, regardless of your age. just sayin' Anyway, definitely check it out when they are running specials. Otherwise, maybe skip it.

This place is bad. Really bad. At one time it was a great alternative to the other diners in the area with a huge and relatively creative menu. I won't even go into how bad the food is. The atmosphere and the service are enough to keep me away forever. I don't live in the area anymore, but on my last two recent visits I stopped in late night with a friend. The first time, in November 2013, we stopped in for a late bite. Our booth smelled like vomit. We left. This latest visit on Friday June 6, we stopped in again late night. Our server was absolutely terrible. I am a server in a five star restaurant, so I admit my standards are pretty high. But also, knowing where I am from, I don't expect much when I come back to this area. But this was exceptional. We asked a question regarding an item on the menu. The response was "oh don't ask me. I wouldn't know that!" Umm ... It's your job to know that, and even if it slipped your mind, it's best you try to hide your stupidity the best you can. Not only was she cavalier about not knowing anything on the menu, she referenced making sure we leave her a good tip several times. It seemed jokingly the first time. The second time it's highly insulting. Again. I'm a server by profession. A little professionalism would have earned her well over 20%. But her lack of any skill whatsoever I couldn't possibly reward her with more than 15%. Side note: you might have recommended I stiff her. Do customers get to withhold your pay at your job when you didn't fully meet their expectations? As for the atmosphere. It's a bar. Calling it a diner is a lie. It's loud bar music and kids barely over drinking age acting like idiots.

So let me start with the good. This place including the Langhorne location has been a place I used to frequent after concerts or for food or a drink it wasn't too bad growing up. Then my friends started working there and I kept hearing the horror that went on here. I used to live walking distance from the Bensalem location and since a few bad nights there I just plain stopped going. Then one day I went again because friends wanted to go grab a drink and we discovered it had just changed owners! I was like oh they are probably going to change the whole menu and get rid of the Five Alarm Burger thing I grown to love. Well I went again with friends because we were sick of Parx Casino and their 5$ Yuengling. I complained but it was an easy suggestion I actually made because I wanted to see what the new owners did to the place. Well, let's start with the burger and mind you this is all I ordered for like 2 years. What the hell happen to the goodness this was? I took it apart and it looked like slop. The hot peppers used to be actually good. Let's use the description: our 1/2 pound angus burger, rubbed with authentic Cajun spices (wasn't spiced at all after a closer look), fire grilled and topped with really hot breaded and fried jalapenos peppers (no these were plain old pickled jalapenos not fried or breaded at all), pepper jack cheese (definitely American), fried onions, apple wood smoked bacon (a sliver of barely anything and not as tasty as before) and a side of our spicy Texas ranch dressing (still same good dressing). So in conclusion the food isn't good anymore so let's go on to the reason I am writing this review. This place always had a good tap list and alcohol assortment. (Well seems like the alcohol cut down a lot and the beer list is the same) Anyway I'm sitting there and I was like awesome Yards Pale ale MY FAVORITE!!! So I ordered it as my second beer with or lovely bartender. So get this, me and my two good friends watch her.....walk over to the taps....and then pull the Coors Light. I was like oh it's probably for that guy over there next to her so whatever. My friends got a little worried as I was like meh? THEN! She placed the beer in front of me and we looked at her like deer in the headlights. We all were like UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH? That's a Coors Light. She said no you ordered a Yards Pale right? We were like yeah but you just poured a Coors Light she said no it's right. I was like nope and took a quick smell (if you know what a pale ale is and especially Yards Pale, well it has a distinct smell and a totally different flavor. We had her pour another one and we compared the color and we all noticed that the new beer was much darker then what she claimed to of served me. People, let me tell you if she didn't have my card and I wanted to be rude I would have walked the hell out on the spot because I was furious with this. I thought of going to the place with my lady like two days before this and stopped myself because I had this like hatred of this place form a while back. I went home and told her we will never step foot in The Great American in our entire lives. I was very nice after this to the bartender but in reality I was mad and couldn't wait to leave. I'm sorry everyone working at The Great American and I'm sorry to the people who love this place but I can never go back to a place with a bartender who argued with me that the Coors she obviously poured was a Yards Pale Ale.

I had been here in the past and this... this almost a mixed review. Now I go in and the decor is different and we see that the bill is half off. This raises my little red flag since it seems like a cheap way to bring in customers. But I give it a chance and we were seated immediately. It was someones birthday we were celebrating. In the past the staff would sing or do something a little special. First of all, our waitress, while MUCH nicer than other staff there who were complaining the whole time in a little station well in our view, didn't seem to even care. She said happy birthday and that was it. We even ordered a dessert and here I was thinking they would at least put a little candle or something as many other places have... but no. Nothing. The food was alright.. nothing spectacular and to be honest I found their limited Wednesday menu disappointing. They also went up in price which didn't really sit well with me. They did give a lot of food but it just not the best. The other waitresses really are what will keep me from coming back. They were having discussions that didn't need to be happening in front of us like about their shifts, and how much money they made. They even had the nerve to count their tips nearby booth and it was only 10pm. One waitress was in the bathroom waiting for a ride which I've never seen before. I only have three stars because half off is a nice treat but really... eh. I don't know if it was worth it. I miss the old owners and the good food.

The only thing not to like about this diner is that when you want to come after the bars close, so does everyone else. It can be crowded to the point that there is a wait to be seated, and full of trendy bar twits with Dragonball-Z hair who leave beer bottles all over the lot. Drive carefully. Otherwise, I adore this place. The sweets are inspired (smores pancakes, anyone?) And they have a full menu of fun foods that are all 5$ between 2-5am. I wasn't totally into the pizza fries, but my sandwich was perfect. As far as service goes, I've been fortunate to have been waited on twice by a little blonde named Erica, and she was terrific enough both times that I'll likely just ask to be seated in her section any time I'm there.

This location is a stunning example of how two places can have the same name, the same menu, the same style, and still be worlds apart because of staff and management differences. I've never had really bad food here, and I do like the bartenders very much. I'd even be able to let the fact that the manager was once straight up hostile toward me when I tried to use my newly (as in that day) expired license to buy a beer on my 31st birthday (I had a temporary card) slide, if rude service wasn't the norm here. There have been many, many, many times that I have eaten here out of desperation and have been made to feel like I am bothering the wait staff. On one recent visit, I actually commented on it directly to my server. "Are we bothering you? Because we can go if we are." She was nicer after that, but not fast or attentive by any means. Now I just skip this location and drive up to Langhorne instead.

My ill-fated visit to the Great American Diner & Pub was quite possibly one of the worst dining experiences I ever had. As such, I feel it needs to be chronicled here. I have not been here in a long time. I hope for the sake of all who have patronized or will patronize that it has cleaned up its act. In reading some of the recent reviews, it appears that it hasn't. Forget food, service or the lack thereof. One word: FLIES. It was several summers ago. I had come here for lunch. This place was inundated by swarms and swarms of flies. Thanks to Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" we all know what that means: There's some ungodly rotting foulness lurking nearby. Usually in a cooler or some other food storage space and entirely too close to any surface used in food preparation or any food marked for consumption. Shame on me for actually getting through the meal and NOT walking out. Beware.

There are good things about The Pub, but I've found it quite disappointing as of recent. The breakfast is good, they offer acceptable eggs and omelettes with some interesting filling choices, as well as good pancakes and french toast. The home fries are usually decent, although underseasoned. For breakfast I'd give it 3.5 stars, the cooking is obviously rather apathetic but still a little better than Denny's or IHOP. Things fall apart after that, though. I've never truly enjoyed anything else on the menu other than the breakfast. Everything is pretty humdrum on the menu, except the appetizers which make decent bar bites. Other than those, nothing in my experience has ever tasted fresh. Even though the food is hot it tastes like it's been sitting around for a while. Dessert is fine, but honestly when is it bad? Service is hit or miss, I've had one of the most attentive waitresses ever here. I've also had some of the crabbiest as well. The place is also in desperate need of a facelift, even though it's not dirty the condition everything in makes it seem gross. The saving grace are the killer early bird breakfast specials and frequent coupons for 20-50% off the bill. Happy hours are affordable too, with half price drinks from 10-12 and various weekday specials including $2 pints on Mondays.

MONDAY NIGHT IS HALF PRICE EVERYTHING!! Ive tried everything from pancakes to lobster ravioli and leave happy and full everytime. Dinner for two with app and two entrees for $15 ?!?!? gotta love it.

Where do I begin? Shall we discuss the lazy waitress who drug her feet to our table twice the whole time we were there? Perhaps we should discuss the way the checks are "manipulated" so that you are charged more than you ordered? No, I think we'll discuss the utter lack of concern by the restaurant's manager in regards to all of this. The Great American was great when it opened, but since it was bought by the same guy who ruined Tifanny's Diner, the place has simply not been very great, nor very American.

They have a huge menu and a full bar which is a plus. However last time I went I got carded and had to wear a wrist band to eat breakfast food. I think they are a little paranoid about the underage kids trying to get a drink. Since I had no intention of even getting a drink and just wanted some pancakes, it was kind of annoying. Personally, I think there are better diners in the area.

The Great American Diner & Pub is a place I manage to find myself at between 2-4 days a week in some capacity or another so, it has a special place in my heart. Before naming this place my groups new, "after hours hangout," we used to frequent the Clubhouse Diner up the road (which is now, coincidentally, owned by the same people as the Pub) and, looking back, moving on was a great idea! The change over to GA (which is our fond name for it) was painful at first, to say the least. Terrible service and the overpriced menu helped get all of my friends to echo the call for us to head back to Clubhouse and forget about this new place but, I insisted so, we stood the test of time. Oh the horror stories I could tell you of waiting 45 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order or when the manager on staff yelled at me for opening the front-door (it was locked) in order to go home (he later apologized). I tell you these things so you can get appreciation for where GA has come from and where it's arrived in the past 4-5 years. The Great American Diner is a bar first (I don't drink) and diner second. If you ever go on a Friday or Saturday night, you will find this out immediately when you see a packed crowd of trendy hipster/indie kids ordering their non-standard beer (GA has a solid beer selection) while Journey plays on the jukebox for the hundredth time. Yes, this is indeed a place for drinkers! The food you get will always be a little overpriced but, for what it is, it's actually always pretty good. I've never had anything too crazy from there (do you want a Prime Rib at a diner?) but the standard diner food they have is usually decent. Highly recommended are the nachos (chili ALWAYS on the side), hot thangs or any of the wraps. They also have sweet potato fries, which always hit the spot for me! My suggestion to you if you're looking for some grub is to come on by, show the server your best side (there's a 2/3 chance they're actually pretty good), and just languish in the atmosphere of a Friday night in Bensalem. Chances are that if you're from the area already, you'll know at least two to three people that are hanging out there!

Food is OK, its not great. Menu is HUGE. Portions are HUGE. Service is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! The only reason we go is because 2 or 3 times a month they have 50% off your entire check. I mean you can't beat dinner for $10.00 or less.

Years ago, Great American was a great after the bar place. Then I visited frequently with an ex and it was really good. Since I live near the place, I have visited it maybe 3 times over the last 5 years and every time, I have been disappointed. My go to dish has always been the cheddar broccoli stuffed chicken breast. The last time I got it, it was disgusting and raw inside. The last time my family & I ventured to the Great American, I am almost positive our waitress was high on something, there were several areas in the ceiling with visible, recent, leaks, the food was meh, and the whole place just seemed overly dirty. The place has gone down the drains over the years. I would not go here and I would believe the comments about flies and roaches, as it is evident no one cares about cleanliness in this joint.

I'm not a neat freak by any means, but I would not go back to this restaurant. Although there's a very large menu, the place is not clean and there were flies everywhere. The floor was covered in crumbs. We didn't really notice until after we'd ordered, but it stopped us both from eating and we tried to get out of there as fast as possible. I realize there's going to be a fly here and there, and crumbs once in a while, but this was beyond. I wish I'd known we were going and checked it out first - the cockroach comment someone else left would have stopped me cold.

I usually meet my sister here for appetizers. The decor and atmosphere is a little weird; it's not really diner-y, but it's not quite restaurant-y. The menu is extensive, and the food is pretty good! (I especially like the nachos with the three dips, all of them good). It's not food that I would make a special trip to Bensalem for, however; it's just normal, acceptable, edible food. I've never had a problem with the service. I find the arcade games and claw machines near the entrance to be an irritating child-trap but they're more or less ubiquitous. Also, I feel like it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing else within walking distance. But I suppose most of the area is like that.

Ah, childhood. I went here all the time with my buddies in high school (Council Rock, before it split off), and it's a great, inexpensive place to get good diner fare. The service is absolutely horrible, but that's not what I go there for. It's a great place to socialize with a group of friends in a casual atmosphere with very decent food. If you like spicy, the "Hot Thangs" are pretty great. Don't call it by it's actual name though, because you will inevitably sound like a huge dork. "Hot Things" will do just fine, champ. My usual meal on my high school budget was their cheese steak. It's not super-authentic by any means, but it's still pretty tasty and inexpensive. When I come back home from Seattle every so often, I like their chicken parm dinner and the meatloaf. Remember, you're not getting excellent service here. The waiters are mostly unmotivated and not terribly friendly. But again, that's not what you'd come here for. Good food and good friends.

We've eaten here over the years a number of times, never by choice but because it was open and available when little else was when meals were needed. I've had a few lame meals, but also some surprisingly tasty and satisfying ones. On a recent trip, ordering a Philly Cheesesteak Wrap produced a very meat-packed, moist, flavorful meal full of mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and cheese that I could only eat half of, leaving the balance for a nice lunch the following day. Service is uneven but more often than not, it is more than adequate. Stay with the basics here and you'll do well. Prices are cheap, and the place used to look grubby and stink of cigarettes, but they have renovated a bit, and while it is still tacky and unstylish, it is so much better than it was. Not a bad choice if you're in need, and it's late!

Ok, we have been here many times felts service lacked at times, food preparations looked a bit dry and waiting to be seated for a diner bothered me, But we did enjoy most times give you lots of food when you got it, some of the meals we got were a bit nasty, or lacked taste. Like the atmosphere but parking is not laid out and gets a bit packed in like sardines. Now beware the nest statement might sway you away. We seen on TWO occasions German Brown Cockroaches two crawling long the wall at our table, and did not even get our meal comp'ed, then saws one on ceiling that is when we decided to never go again, consumers beware. Information I found that yes were most eateries might have a slight issues that are handled correctly German Cockroaches if seen are just the few of hundreds hidden away this is just what I heard from a Pest Control Service Person. Enjoy................

Service as well as items on the menu can be hit-or-miss. GREAT burgers, French onion soup, and omelets. Pass on the chicken marsala. $1 for 10-oz drafts on Sundays AND half-price appetizers! My boyfriend and I ate there one Sunday, had an app each and two beers, and the total was $12.00.

Their menu is huge, so there is no doubt you will find something you like. However, the service leaves A LOT to be desired. A LOT. They take 20 minutes to even bring your drink out, and will bring apps with your meal. Terrible service and rude wait staff, however, on 50% off night, I'll gladly deal with a bitchy waitress and a 20 minutes to serve diet coke. Can't beat a meal for two for ~$15.

The wait staff is what kills this place. The food is good and menu selection is huge! But the wait staff is so incompetent that I am never going to back there. I went 4 times and each time ended up leaving mad at the waiter. They are not trained very well and most of the time are either working to many tables or are too inexperenced to know that you should not being out the main dish before the appetizer. Don't even dream of getting a refill on your drink! (unless you are at the bar - that is a completely different thing - my review is solely for the sit down restaurant portion) Once the waitress was so bad that I complained the manager when I went to pay my check and nothing was done, no apology, nothing. Just blank nods of "oh ok". Needless to say that was the final time I went.

Remember that time we all went to the diner pub and ate that cheesey shrimp and crab dip, the one that was overflowing the bread bowl it came in? And remember how we had all those pieces of soft pretzel and garlic bread and tri-color tortilla chips to dip in it? And how we said we could never possibly finish it but it was so good that we did anyway and then we felt sick for the rest of the night? And remember how we washed it all down with those ridiculous $2 beer specials? Oh, what's that you say? You weren't there? Oh, sucks to be you.

this place is pretty good.. they have a huge menu selection and are fairly priced...even they're pasta dishes are surprisingly descent.also they feature a small plates menu featuring most of they're best dishes in a smaller portion, which i really like because they're dinners come with soup and salad and haveing such a huge selection i like to try a couple different things.occasionally they're wait staff can be bratty, but thats to be expected when the oldest waitress is prob 22 its a very diverse place as well.its great to take ur family on a weeknight, and a great place to kick back with some friends on the weekends.i havnt hit the bar there in over 5 years but back then it was a great time with good bartenders and friendly seat holders....definately worth makeing the trip and especially now because the race track casino is rite down the road..give it a try

Oh my how times have changed. The great american pub used to be a great place to come for a meal. The menu was good and the service was excellent. I recently brought the family there for a late morning brunch and it was horrific. The waitress was a complete ditz, she was completely overwhelemed and the kitchen was backed up 50 minutes. The food came out ice cold after the waitress apologized 10 times. I mean ice cold, the pancakes felt like they were pulled from a fridge. The eggs were room temperature, the bacon tasted like it had been microwaved. The worst part of the meal was my wife's salad. It was literally brown. I called the manager over to show him the salad and I asked him if he would eat it?? He told me he would not. This comes from a person who never complains at restaurants. I usually just deal with crappy service but this was way over the top. This place needs to be on kitchen nightmares, I am sure the kitchen is horrible. The disgusting brown salad probably came from a bad freezer. Never again, never ever, stay away.

This place is a great example of what it means to "go downhill." A couple of years ago, they had really good sandwiches and breakfasts. I don't know if they changed chefs recently or not, but the last two times we've been there, the food has been nearly inedible. On my last visit, which was Friday night, I got a buffalo chicken wrap. The chicken inside was fried, yet icy cold. Not cold like it had sat out too long; cold like it had been in the fridge for hours. The fried coating was soggy and there was no actual buffalo sauce on the chicken. It had sunk into the coating and merged with it during the time it had been sitting around. My friend ordered a Boca burger and it came out pale yellow in color. The waitress explained it was a "turkey" Boca burger. Gross! Who wants a fake turkey burger? When a vegetarian orders a veggie burger they generally assume it will somewhat resemble an actual burger. The fries were also soggy and not very hot. The nachos tasted oddly bitter and they used chips that did not have any salt on them. The previous time we had gone, my fajitas were so bland I could barely eat them. I had to beg for hot sauce to give them any kind of flavor whatsoever. Oh, and we had to eat dinner while listening to blaring loud heavy metal music and freezing to death; the manager refused to turn on the heat. This place is going to be in trouble if they don't pay attention to the bad reviews and do something to turn themselves around.

This was a first for her.

good diner food with reasonalble prices. they have a ridculous menu. you could go there every day for a year, and get something different every time. i recommend getting a "vip" card. no charge, and for every 100 dollars you spend, you get 10 credit for next visit. cant beat it. they also have 1/2 off entire menu deals on wednesdays. try their sizzlin fajhitas, cream chipped beef in a bread bowl, and artichoke dip in a bread bowl. very nice!

Order the breakfast pizza. It's delicious! It's not on the menu but they'll make it for you.

Although the menu was large and had lots of variety, service was slow and lacked personality. We often had to ask for refills which ended up being forgotten. The restaurant had a comfortable look. The food was average at best. Ok for a rush, with time would not revisit this location.

This place is the typical diner. Food was mediocre. Waitress was friendly but aloof. I got a grilled cheese which could have been a little hotter. Fries were also cold. We got the spinach and artichoke dip in a bread bowl. That was ok.

(4)Charles O.

(1)Rita G.

(5)Lucy P.

(4)Lisa R.
(1)Veronica K.
(4)Danielle B.
I have been here several times. Unfortunately it is a big hit place for meeting up with friends.. The menu is extensive however every time I come here for breakfast I end up getting poor service and dirty utensils. Do not recommend for morning service but for the evening the shakes are pretty good when meeting with friends
(2)Danielle R.
(4)Val R.

I'm disappointed with this place. Back in the day it was a good place to eat late night. Now the food sucks.
(1)Ben E.
Order the breakfast pizza. It's delicious! It's not on the menu but they'll make it for you.
(5)Gina M.

(1)Dalia S.
Although the menu was large and had lots of variety, service was slow and lacked personality. We often had to ask for refills which ended up being forgotten. The restaurant had a comfortable look. The food was average at best. Ok for a rush, with time would not revisit this location.
(2)Kyle D.
(4)Chris M.

(2)Carla H.
MONDAY NIGHT IS HALF PRICE EVERYTHING!! Ive tried everything from pancakes to lobster ravioli and leave happy and full everytime. Dinner for two with app and two entrees for $15 ?!?!? gotta love it.
(5)Brian P.
ive driven past this place a million times and just only tried it now. the food was very good ,inexpensive and the decor is awesome !

(1)Alicia O.

I love this place. Have been a very satisfied patron for several years. Great variety, portions and pricing! Newly renovated.

(4)Kev G.
Food is OK, its not great. Menu is HUGE. Portions are HUGE. Service is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! The only reason we go is because 2 or 3 times a month they have 50% off your entire check. I mean you can't beat dinner for $10.00 or less.
(3)Michael C.
Lots of food at very reasonable prices. Huge menu. Friendly staff. Very, very inexpensive kids menu.

(1)Dawn F.

Over the past few months this place has sucked. Crappy food, worse service. All in all our first few good experiences have been WAY overshadowed by the bad.

I usually meet my sister here for appetizers. The decor and atmosphere is a little weird; it's not really diner-y, but it's not quite restaurant-y. The menu is extensive, and the food is pretty good!
(4)Linda M.
(3)Ben A.

(3)Jacki G.
(2)Z J.
I had a great lunch here today. not much else to say, the menu was huge, the corned beef sandwich was really good and well priced, and there was nothing negative to note about the staff or interior of the restaurant. Im not in Bensalem often, but now I know one spot worth trying again.
(4)Zanna H.
(1)Steph M.
(4)christina h.
this place is pretty good.. they have a huge menu selection and are fairly priced...even they're pasta dishes are surprisingly descent.also they feature a small plates menu featuring most of they're best dishes in a smaller portion, which i really like because they're dinners come with soup and salad and haveing such a huge selection i like to try a couple different things.occasionally they're wait staff can be bratty, but thats to be expected when the oldest waitress is prob 22 its a very diverse place as well.its great to take ur family on a weeknight, and a great place to kick back with some friends on the weekends.i havnt hit the bar there in over 5 years but back then it was a great time with good bartenders and friendly seat holders....definately worth makeing the trip and especially now because the race track casino is rite down the road..give it a try

Never again, never ever, stay away.

this place is my default. Middle of the week and its late and I can't think of where to go this place is awesome. Thursdays is karaoke which is fun and 10 to 12 is half price drinks. Bar service is quick and sometimes food service is slow but when your having fun you don't even notice the time passing.
(5)Steve F.
Lately the service has been hit or miss. I have been here at least 100 times since I have lived in Bensalem and maybe had a bad experiance maybe 5 times. The one thing I have noticed is that they really dont care if you complain they just look at you kind of funny.
(3)Rebecca S.
(1)C K.
Always great diner food at great prices and great service - phenomenal happy hour deals (we went there at around 5/6 PM on a weekend after being on the river all day and were all starving and stuffed ourselves silly for about $10 a person with their early dinner specials!
(5)Sarah K.
(2)Mallory D.
I actually quite like this diner. There is something for everyone here, as their menu reads like War and Peace. Their bar scene is cute and everything I have ever got here was good. Not absolutely amazing, but what do you expect at a diner?
(4)Charles O.
This was a first for her.

good diner food with reasonalble prices. they have a ridculous menu. you could go there every day for a year, and get something different every time. i recommend getting a "vip" card. no charge, and for every 100 dollars you spend, you get 10 credit for next visit. cant beat it. they also have 1/2 off entire menu deals on wednesdays. try their sizzlin fajhitas, cream chipped beef in a bread bowl, and artichoke dip in a bread bowl. very nice!

Not a bad choice if you're in need, and it's late!

this place is my default.

(3)Jacki G.
(2)Z J.
I had a great lunch here today. not much else to say, the menu was huge, the corned beef sandwich was really good and well priced, and there was nothing negative to note about the staff or interior of the restaurant. Im not in Bensalem often, but now I know one spot worth trying again.
(4)Zanna H.
(1)Steph M.

I'm disappointed with this place. Back in the day it was a good place to eat late night. Now the food sucks.
(1)Ben E.
Order the breakfast pizza. It's delicious! It's not on the menu but they'll make it for you.
(5)Gina M.

Great place look like a pub with dinner service, great service, great decoration.

(3)Kyle D.

Although the menu was large and had lots of variety, service was slow and lacked personality. We often had to ask for refills which ended up being forgotten. The restaurant had a comfortable look. The food was average at best. Ok for a rush, with time would not revisit this location.
(2)Nicole P.

(4)Shannon Y.

Beware.
(1)Neil S.
(2)Lauren G.
(1)Camay C.
(4)Lisa R.
(1)Veronica K.
(4)Val R.
This place is the typical diner. Food was mediocre. Waitress was friendly but aloof. I got a grilled cheese which could have been a little hotter. Fries were also cold. We got the spinach and artichoke dip in a bread bowl. That was ok.

What happened toc marni.great waitress that place lost it when she left.she use to wait on me and my husband for years.she treated us great.

(1)Rita G.

They make mistakes and refuse to take ownership of said mistakes and instead call you a liar. Please for the love of quality customer service please send this establishment a message and spend your money elsewhere
