Note #1: Towne Square Restaurant also caters and harbors a banquet hall. Note #2: I totally forgot to jot down their hours. Along Beaver's really quaint and happening business district lies a placid American diner that I imagine has been around for more years than I've been alive, and we discovered it totally by chance. When we walked in, we heard a jolly cook loudly belt out bread-and-butter anthems of classic rock radio. From REO Speedwagon to Elton John, this cat knew them all. Two elderly regulars munched on sandwiches while they chatted up the bashful, pretty young waitress, the white walls acting as a backdrop for a scene that could have been depicted by Norm Rockwell. I hadn't had a steak salad in a good while, so that's what I ended up ordering. Aside from the marginally tough, albeit tasty steak chunks, this was a truly satisfying lunchtime feast. All the standard veggies were there in all their crisp, freshly-picked glory. The shredded cheddar decorated the plate. Hardboiled eggs coalesced with flawlessly golden french fries and a splendid house Ranch dressing. They make their own pies but were nearly out of them, so to Witch Flavor we went for ice cream. I forget what Kay had other than that her mashed potatoes were genuine and not instant. And the service was just fine. Go. The End.

I took my 52 Plymouth to the ginormous car cruise that the little town of Beaver holds annually, having wanted to do it for the last couple of years. The first year the brakes went out, and it went into the shop for restoration, the second year the cruise was cancelled due to road construction (in PA, imagine THAT!!), so third time was the charm, and come hell of high thunderstorms, I was going. We spent the day wandering around nearly 3,000 antique, vintage and classic cars, in a ten block area, and by early evening, I was starving. We checked a few other options, but this truly has to be their busiest day of the year, hands down, and when we checked out Towne Square they did not have a 20 minute waiting list, so, since it was near my car, ding, ding, ding. Atmosphere? Typical small town family restaurant/diner. Upon entry, the diner counter with multi colored pleather topped stools along a long counter. Through a doorway was a sit down dining room, with an even larger room in the back. Plenty of seating, and no need to wait. The menu? Typical diner fare. PERFECT. Burgers, sandwiches, pastas, etc, etc, etc. What would be finer than just sitting in a diner, with a parade of three thousand classic cars roaring past the front window, chomping down some classic diner fare? Well, maybe a smoking section... What the heck, give us two fish sandwiches, and platter them (with fries and slaw) add some cheese to mine, and load us up with tartar sauce. Seriously, is their ANY sane person on this planet that eats a fried fish sandwich WITHOUT tartar sauce? I thinkest NOT! The fish was plentiful, very nicely battered in a simple unpretentious (did I mention 'diner'?) way, laid out on a bun that was actually long enough to fit the natural size of a FISH, with some good gooey American cheese melted on the top of the fish. The fries had some kind of flavor coating and were served up with a decent crunch, and the slaw was a very basic but very acceptable slaw. All in all, a very good diner meal to refuel for another hour or two of standing next to a car. The lost a point for carrying only Pepsi products (gag), but won it back since they offered brewed iced tea. The service was friendly and efficient, a very polished crew of mostly younger gals, and one older gal who did keep us a little entertained with her hair...1980's mall bangs, hit with the blow drier and a can of Aqua Net, to stand straight up in the oddest way...so odd, that one would surely think that someone near to her might be honest and say 'Honey...you're an adorable gal...but the Pat Benatar hair thing...isn't working'. The total check for two classic diner fish sandwich platters, and an iced tea came to $20. They were flavorful, plentiful, and killed the hunger of a long day drooling over gorgeous cars that I would never be able to own, while showing off my own 'everyday driver' from 1952. I was a little nervous when going to pay the bill, but YAY! Unlike a lot of 'diners', they actually DO accept credit cards, so I didn't have to wash dishes for the next three hours of minimum wage. Thank you Towne Square for a capper to an amazing day. The amazing thing is that this little town of Beaver really is a thriving example of what ALL small towns should be. Small mom and pops shops for the most part, a grocery store, and a diner. Nothing could be finer than just sitting in a diner...

Nothing fancy but really good service and good reasonable food. Their pie, however, is exceptional. You should go, you won't regret it.

I like little mom and pop style restaurants and this one doesn't disappoint. The eggs were cooked perfectly (although not very hot, they must have been sitting while waiting for the home fries to cook). I am picky about coffee and theirs is very good. The service was also very good. The only improvement I'd recommend is the home fries. These are simply sliced potatoes fried in butter. I like mine with onions and peppers and more spice. But they were okay. I'd also suggest that they keep the plates hot so the food doesn't cool so quickly. But none of this will stop me from going back
