This is an excellent Japanese restaurant. The sushi and rolls are extremely fresh and served in large portions. The staff here is super friendly and polite. The hibachi grill here is fantastic. They serve large portions on the grill side also. One thing I really liked was the fact that instead of serving bean spouts for the vegetables, they grilled up mixed vegetables that included carrots, peas, corn, and broccoli. The chef was excellent and able to launch shrimp pieces in my 6 year old nephews mouth! Such accuracy. I spent a month in Altoona visiting relatives and went here twice, but I wish it had been more.

Very good chicken teriyaki on the Habachi bar. First time there and the atmosphere was great. A little more expensive then other Chinese restaurants but you do get a very large portion.

Had a horrible experience. The cook had fancy tricks as expected but was extremely rude and made insults to my grandfather, mother, and myself. Even after I told him I was upset by this the cook continued to make japes at me. It was humiliating and completely ruined my appetite. When the cook saw I was not eating, he proceeded to tell me he would not leave me be till I tried his food. I don't understand why people would pay good money for food just to be insulted. I will never go back.

This restaurant is a breath of fresh air. First of all the decor is nice. It's nice, minimalistic, and relaxing. The staff is wonderful. Very friendly, cordial, outgoing and enjoyable to get to know. The food is very good I got nine pieces of sushi, and my family did the hibachi. We went on a weeknight and enjoyed a modest discount. Will definitely be back.

Sushi sashimi combo is delicious and always beautifully presented. The summer roll is fresh and delicious. We love the atmosphere and the great service.

With well-prepared, beautifully-presented sushi, Aki is a phenomenal addition to Altoona's restaurant scene. This is the only local restaurant I would recommend for sushi, and I would rate my first meal here (Thai Spicy, Summer Roll and sashimi for my husband) as comparable to sushi I've had in larger cities like Harrisburg and Philly. Aki also has a Chambersburg, PA location, and I enjoyed many excellent meals there before moving to Cambria County.

I happened to be in town on business and have been craving Japanese for the past week. I stumbled upon Aki online and their menu looked great; sushi rolls, hibachi, etc. I popped in and the restaurant was completely quiet, or rather dead. I was greeted and asked if I wanted to be seated in the dining room or hibachi grill. Judging from the menu, the hibachi seemed like the perfect bet. Before I took another step, I was told that there's a minimum of people required for hibachi. That's a first. I left and went down to Yamoto down the street instead. Two stars for decor...that's all.

My family had a wonderful experience here. There were 12 of us in total for an early Mother's Day. Udin was one of the best hibachi chefs I've ever seen. He put on an amazing show and had everyone laughing hysterically. I highly suggest this place great to have excellent hibachi in Altoona PA.

The finest Hibachi experience ever, The chef was entertaining, funny and the food came out perfect. There are some really good dinner specials too. The prices are good and the staff is scary efficient with clean up and the servers are quick. Don't let the shopping center look deceive you. The ambiance inside you'd expect in a city restaurant. I will be back.

I am from a NC beach where we catch tuna fresh and sell them to the local sushi restaurants and this is still the best sushi I have ever had. Great atmosphere as well. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

YES! Finally a place in Altoona to get fresh Pad Thai! The ingredients were clearly freshly prepared, and the sushi was generously portioned and delicious. I was extremely satisfied with my meal. We sat in the table/booth area but there is hibachi too, which seemed lively. Interior of the restaurant is really cool too. Love the multicolor light-up bubbling wall feature, I'm sure that will be a hit for kids.
