I was visiting my hometown of Allentown on Columbus Day weekend. We went to the Trivet on Columbus Day morning at 10:40 am. The young waitress seemed a little annoyed with us, right from the start, for no reason. I asked her if they still have a particular sandwich, which I had enjoyed there before. She replied, "Maybe, but it is not on the breakfast menu." So then I asked her, "What are the sweet potato pancakes like?" She replied, "I don't know. I have never had them." So I ordered them. And they were not anything like what I imagined. I really did not like them. And I could have avoided them if the snotty young waitress had tried to help me, when I asked her for info about that menu item. Next time my relatives suggest going to the Trivet, I will probably say, "Let's try someplace else."

I'll give this diner two stars over my one star "New City View Diner" review, only because the clientele was clothed and it seems cleaner than NCVD. Service. Horrendous. From an uninterested hostess, to a downright bratty waitress who spent more time on her cell phone than she did taking our order (over 10 minutes for water, add another 10 for actual sodas and teas), to getting the wrong change when we were leaving- it was just bad. Furthermore, the waitress failed to take our orders properly (and we're not that kind of group that wants "extra cheese, no tomato" etc.) We wanted our food, how it was on the menu but apparently she was too wrapped up in her text messaging giggle-fit to care. Eggs came out on different plates, pancakes came out no eggs, one person was actually missing their pancakes, etc.). Then, when we mentioned these /slight issues/ to her, she argued saying that "wasn't what we ordered", and then just shrugged it off when we asked for a manager. She went back to her cell phone for the next 20 minutes. If I had her number, I would have text messaged her at this point- it would have been more efficient. Our order was never fixed. My friends shared their pancakes. I've been a server before, and I have always left a tip regardless of the situation. Congratulations to this waitress- she is the first one that I have EVER demanded that no one at the table leave her a cent. Good luck paying your cell phone bill. Now, not only did the food come out wrong- it came out either overcooked or undercooked. My husband got eggs that still had runny whites (he does not order sunny side up or over easy), my friend got scrambled eggs that were liquid in parts, the shared plate of pancakes were burnt, etc. I'm glad other people have had good experiences here, but we absolutely did not. Do yourself a favor and just don't bother with this place unless you have unlimited text messaging to order your food and an iron stomach so you don't throw it up (if you actually get what you order).

There are 2 Trivets in the Lehigh Valley. This one is about the one on Tilghman Ave. A diner with complete silver diner look and one of the cleanest in the area. The food and service are good. Yes, breakfast food is served all day long. Their location is a nightmare. Getting into the lot is fairly easy, but leaving is another thing, as they are adjacent to a ramp where Route 309 exits. and there are 5 lanes of traffic in front of them. Best bet is to exit turning right, then deal with your location after that point.

Many a wonderful nights have ended here, many a wonderful days have started here and most importantly many a wonderful meals have been devoured here. Ah, right by the movies, close to wegman's, and in between all our hoods this was the diner of our highschool days. Being bad kids, sneaking out late night, you could always find us here... or a few other places but I'll get to that later. I don't pay close attention to details at diners, it'll just gross you out or turn you off somehow. Just enjoy the wide variety and savor the yummy eats. This place has never done me wrong, even writing this now I could go for one of their french onion soups. Staff has always been friendly, and trust me we were annoying.

Stopped here for breakfast after just taking a random exit coming home from bear creek mountain. Parking lot was packed. Great food great service!

Was there yesterday (2/23/14) with 3 other people. I ordered the tuna salad club sandwich, along with a cup of chili. Club sandwich was very good and so was the chili, although the size of the cup of chili (for $4) was too small. For the price, the cup should be a mug. The only other complaint was from the person who ordered the clam strips. She said they were too chewy. Alot of items to choose from the menu. Everything I've ever had, at this Trivet, has been very good, as well as the service.

I really enjoy the Trivet diner. My only regret is that I only seen to visit during breakfast hours so I don't really know what their lunch/dinner menu tastes like. Oh well, I guess that just means that I have to keep coming back for more.

I used to be cool with Trivet, but these days they are on my last nerve. Mostly because they can't get my order right for love or money. No, I didn't order broccoli in my sandwich. What do I look like, an idiot?

Service was good except she forgot the syrup and I had to go ask for it. Food was pretty good. Nothing exceptional. Hostess was very dour. Didnt smile at all.

I used to go here a lot with my friends. We would always come around 2-3 AM so there was never much staff or a big crowd. I don't want to give a biased review but I almost have to because I really got to know a lot of the waitresses that worked there late at night so I feel as though I'm betraying them if I write something cold or disheartening but alas, I must be truthful! So I'll try my best... The food here is to be expected: it's diner food. It's not good, it's not terrible but keep in mind, it's not always edible either. I usually always ordered the chicken fingers to be safe. Or, if their fryers were ever down, not working, etc. (which happens more often then you'd think) I'd order pancakes. Even though I knew the waitresses and became friendly with them, I don't necessarily trust diner food. That goes for any diner, not just this one. Depending if you come on a weekend or a weekday (or if it's during the summer), you'll tend to see a lot of drunk college kids acting all rowdy and tough, usually seated in the front of the restaurant with the big booths. But as long as you don't snicker too loudly, you should be fine. So in summation: The food - meh. The service - usually excellent (Tip: talk to your waitress, be friendly, tip well, etc.) The atmosphere - you're in a movie with zero extras and the one weird guy with the strong smelling cologne. Keep in mind, this review is based on late night dining experience only. I've never dined here throughout the day or any time before 10 PM. All in all, I enjoy the Trivet. It's one of the only places that are open 24 hours and as long as you behave yourself and don't care about the amount of gravy placed on your fries, you should have an A-OK experience here.

diner's are an american classic. i rarely have anything negative to say about one. however this one was mediocre. I ordered the stuffed french toast and let me tell you it wasn't what i was expecting. it was basically two pieces of bread on top of one another with melting cream cheese oozing all over my plate. they say you eat with your eyes first and your mouth second. i didnt even want to eat my food after looking at my plate :'( the service was ok too... i felt as though our waitress forgot about us since we were in the bar area and not in the restaurant sitting area. i hope this was just a bad day for the diner and not how it runs overall..... there are better diners near where i live so i probably wont be back. sadly =(

Solid diner. Great food and service both times visited with family. Highly recommended.

It's close to my house. My friends have frequented ever since we were still in high school, way before the facelift it got. But somehow... I don't know, something is off. Every single time I've been there I see something I don't like (as in the way a table was cleaned with a dirty cloth) or the food has been a bit off (and I end up with tummy trouble) so I'm just going to stick to Chris's.

My friends and I came here driving up to Lake Ariel for a bachelor party. We initially went to PJ Whelihan's across the street, but one of my friends thought that the waitresses were hounds so we decided to go to Trivet's instead. My one friend thought that the hostess was pretty cute, so he tried to pry some information about her out of our waitress. We were told that this particular hostess "liked her men" and some vague mention of squirrels as well. The fact that this woman was able to handle my friend's romantically focused questions in stride with a smile on her face won this diner a special place in my heart. Obviously places like this are a dime a dozen, but I always reward for good customer service, and the fact that this woman handled such chauvinistic line of questioning with aplomb was very impressive to me.

Just OK. I would stay away due to the fact they treat there employees badly. I know a waitress that worked there and she gave them ample notice before she left. They still have not paid her for the last week she worked. Totally unacceptable, Everyone should be aware of this and demand them to pay her or refuse to patronize these establishment!

The parking lot and waiting area may look intimidatingly full, but don't lose hope as the diner is able to seat you pretty quickly. From the long list of breakfast options, I picked the Veggie Lovers Omelette (with mozzarella subbed in for mushrooms), which came with a side of toast. I was pleased by the portion of vegetables, but was surprised that potatoes weren't included with the dish (although they are available as a side order).

Have been there many times and the food is always very good! Every server I've had has been pleasant and observant. I've mainly been there fir breakfast. Even if there is a wait it we get seated pretty quick

I recently went to this Trivet later in the evening on a Friday night with some friends. Cool retro diner look to the place, huge parking lot, fast and friendly service, good portions and most importantly very tasty food. I had a salad and stuffed flounder for my meal and both were delicious. I also had several large glasses of chocolate milk with my dinner. Now this may sound funny and insignificant to you but for me good chocolate milk is one of the hallmarks of a good diner. Maybe it's something left over from my childhood when I would eat out with my parents, usually at diners, and I would always get a glass of chocolate milk. Anyway it was rich and chocolaty and didn't taste like it had just been mixed using powder. The service we received from our waitress was excellent. She was hometown diner friendly and really took care of us. There's not much more to say about the Trivet. If you want a really good, authentic diner experience in this area I think the Trivet is going to be hard to beat. Note - There is a Trivet restaurant in Emmaus (15 minutes away) that I'm assuming is owned by the same people. That Trivet restaurant is in the layout of a small town restaurant rather than the classic diner look. Having been to both I believe that this Trivet location is superior in all aspects.

Best diner in Allentown....hands down!! You have to try the Raisin French Toast!

I rate diners on quality of their breakfast platters. The homefries here were actually very crispy and the portions were pretty big. Relative to my other favorite for homefries (Hellertown Diner) they are running neck in neck right now. Bizarrely one of the cleanest diners I have ever visited. On the other hand, part of the charm of diners is the constant revolving door of customers and the slight hints of grease in the cracks. Also they have decent coffee. Another plus.

I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place yet - I live about two minutes away, and it's a regular standby for breakfast, lunch, dinner...anytime we don't want to cook. The Trivet was recently redone (several years ago) and has an official diner theme - all shiny steel outside, lunch counter, pie fridge, inside. The diner is nice and clean, and well staffed. Wait times get a bit busy on weekend mornings, but otherwise, you can get a table pretty quick. The favorite here is breakfast - it's standard diner fare, but it is good. Omelets and home fries are good and what I usually order. Lunch/dinner fare is your typical diner stuff - meatloaf, hot sandwiches, short order stuff (chicken fingers, etc.), all of it well prepared. Nothing stellar to note here - it's a solid diner entry, and a dependable stop when we don't agree on where to go. Also of note, this place (like pretty much all PA restaurants these days) is smoke free. The divided smoking/non-smoking layout remains, but the smoke is gone.

good service and the food is decent for a diner. The place looks nice. prices are good

Let me say that I have no idea if these are family or friends writing these positive reviews, but an honest reviewer would say the food they serve here is way over priced and sub-par. Meaning you could go just about anywhere and get better food. Let me start by saying I have eaten at this diner a couple of times and none of those times did I get the service or food all those reviews talk about. I have not had any waiteress that was personable it was more like stoik and unconcerned. The food quality was sub-par and very bland. I wish I had gotten some of those delicious home fries the one reviewer mentioned, but I never have. Food cost! Let me just say the prices are way out of line with the quality of food they are serving. This is diner food at a 3 or 4 star restaurant price. They nickel and dime people on everything. A-la-cart style menu. Meaning everything you want is an added charge. An omelet with home fries and toast should not cost $10.00. Everytime I get the omelet I am disappointed with not only the portion but the taste. How do you screw up a simple omelet. I have no idea why this diner is busy but people do go there. I have yet to figure it out, but in due time I am sure people will come to the same conclusion.

All-around excellent diner -- probably my favorite in Allentown. They're open 24 hours and have a nice menu for any appetite. The portion sizes are generous and I've always received nothing short of excellent service. Nice location, too -- right on Tilghman street and close to 309 (and 78/Hamilton/Cedar Crest Blvd).

Solid diner. Very nice staff. Went in at midnight on a Sunday after flying in from the West Coast and, of course, had to Yelp for food. The home fries were amazing. The very nice and helpful waitress (reminded me of a neighborhood granny) told me that they make the home fries to order although that is difficult to do when they get busy. BTW, I never use superlatives. So, as of the time of this post, they are indeed the best home fries I have eaten in the last 36 years or so. :D

We stopped here to meet a friend when we were driving through to Ohio from NY and the location was super easy to find off the highway. That earns at least 1 star right there. Right away I couldn't help but notice how clean the diner was. It was by far the cleanest diner I have ever been in and I have been to quite a few diners. It looked new! The menu is huge. Whatever you're in the mood for they have it here and I'm willing to bet money it will hit the spot. The gentlemen I was with had burgers and thought they were pretty awesome and I had a fried chicken sandwich (when in Rome, you know) and it was really good, too. Oh, and the fries - perfect. And nothing was greasy! Yes! I would definitely stop here if I ever find myself driving through Allentown on an empty belly.

I loved the chicken salad sandwich. 100's of items to choose from on the menu....... your head will be spinning!!!! You'll eventually find your favorites and love this place more and more each time you visit.
