Okay, so it was 9 pm on a Friday night...which really isn't that late for a Friday. Here's the list of reasons why I will never go here again: 1. There were two other tables, and it took ten minutes for the server to show up. 2. It was at least another ten minutes before our drinks actually showed up. 3. When I needed a refill on my diet coke, we were looking around for her server and saw her sitting at the back counter, texting on her cell phone and eating. 4. We asked for some bread, and she told us "we ran out of bread". Really, at 9:30 on a Friday? 5. The food took 40 minutes. The food was tasty, but the cheese on the pizza was cold. Maybe the waitress was too busy updating her Facebook status to notice the food was sitting up under the heat lamp. 6. After I finished eating, I went to the bathroom. I am glad I didn't go to the bathroom before I ate. It wasn't gross, just a severe lack of attention to detail. They had dark paint on the walls, which were all spotted with dirt, mop splatter, and who knows what else. It was all very dingy, the countertop was stained, the trash was overflowing with papertowels...and there was a soap pump that looked like they picked it up at Home Goods. Now come on, I love Home Goods, but I don't charge $17 for a pizza and $18 for a salad. The fastest service we got the entire time was when we gave her payment for our bill. Not when we asked for our bill, but when we gave her the money. And she should totally lay off the eye shadow too. Between the uber dark eyeshadow that wasn't blended and the really dark hair with long bangs, it just didn't make sense. Okay, now I'm just being b!tchy. My bad. The decor looked like something out of an 80's movie that was shot....well, in the 80's and hadn't been cleaned since. DUST EVERYWHERE. I'm not a dust fanatic, but when I'm in a restaurant, if they can't be bothered to clean up the dust in the common area, how could they be bothered to do it in the kitchen? I won't be back here. No way.

Definitely a fun atmosphere, and the food was okay, but over-priced. The waitress was awful, at one point walking away mid-sentence after asking us how everything was going. I then had to track her down for our bill after waiting 30 minutes for her to bring it. I would not actively choose to go back for dinner, but could see it being tolerable for happy hour.

I have been for brunch twice this month. This past weekend I was giving it one last chance. Failure! My egg in the eggs benedict were hard boiled, again! For a restaurants that has about 8 different versions of eggs benedict, you'd think they would have egg poaching down pat. The server offered a free dessert and then didn't return to the table for another 20 minutes. Another member of my party ordered French toast which looked great! Upon further inspection they sent it out burnt side down. They did remake it and remove it from the bill. Overall service leaves much to be desired. As far as the food goes, kitchen takes the over done cake. Unless you enjoy your service poor and your food extra crispy, I'd stay away.

My now husband and I had gone here on our first date 5 years ago- we decided that since it was our 5 years anniversary (of being together) we thought would give Pistachio's another try. (first try wasn't too memorable so we hadn't been back) It was a Tuesday night- so we got right in- dim lighting was nice- booth right by the door- was not so nice... Menu was hard to read- a wide variety- but the print was quite small- There were specials for the evening so I checked them out- I ordered the fillet Mignon with Mashed potatoes and Asparagus- my husband ordered some type of Greek Pasta- it was Angel hair with Shrimp- a red sauce and feta cheese on top- I ordered my steak medium- as to the suggestion of the server (I usually order Med-Well) she said- if its too pink you can send it back- well when it came.. it wasn't pink at all:-( it was kind of tough actually.... luckily the sauce on the side was good- It covered up the toughness a little bit... When the waitress came back to check on us- I had already finished about half the steak- she asked if it came out alright- I showed her it was done throughout- and she apologized and asked if I wanted a new one- I said well- I already ate half- so she said OK and walked away. The asparagus was pretty good and so were the mashed- they were plain and didn't give me any butter- back to the steak- there wasn't even any salt or pepper on the steak- and none on the table- Drinks: Well at least they were good! I got the Pistachio Cosmo- it had raspberries in it- yum- My husband got some type of seasonal pumpkin beer- he said it was good- Bread- they gave you toasted bread with spices and some hummus to dip it in- that was good After the meal we got the bill... after spending $75 on a meal we were not thrilled with.... lets just say it put a bit of a damper on the evening.... we decided that we would not be returning on our 10 year anniversary! When we got in the car, my husband said that his pasta kind of tasted like dish detergent! We stopped off at Wendy's after wards and Shared a frosty....lol That was Really Good:-)

Mediocre food, indifferent service. In a major metropolitan area, this place would have long since closed. But since it's Allentown, and upscale options are fairly limited, they remain. I went at lunch and had the Thai potsticker salad. The salad part was fine except for the bad tasting tomatoes. I've never heard of tomatoes in an Asian-style salad to begin with, but if you must do it, at least use good ones. There were only two tiny potstickers, which turned out to be a good thing because they were greasy and tasted terrible, like they'd been soaking in oil for days. The service was polite, and our orders were done correctly. However, a request for a substitution was denied - she refused to even check the kitchen and no, this item was NOT from the "rush" part of the menu that says "no substitutions." After she brought the food, we didn't see the server again until she brought the check at which point she knocked over my companion's soda into her lap, and didn't apologize. Admittedly, the glass was nearly empty, because she never came to check on if we wanted refills.

This is a good spot for lunch. Some other reviewers have said it's a little pricey, and it is, I agree. But the food is really good. I go here pretty often with business clients and vendors. The atmosphere is really condusive to that kind of meeting. It doesn't get too crowded or loud.

Went tonight and as we walked in, the host walked away as we opened the door, he made an entire trip around the dining room as we stood waiting to be seated. He then pushed in and straightened every barstool on his way to to the front after noticing we were waiting to be seated. Food took a long time to arrive after arriving, around 30 minutes. $27 per entree, risotto on both meals was WAY undercooked. After mentioning to the waitress, who was very pleasant, no manager or chef came to apologize for the sub par food. Only our full bill arrived at our table. As we left feeling dissapointed, the hostess now at the front didn't stop her conversation with a bar patron long enough to even thank us. Dinner for 2 at another place please!

Not a fan of this place. Been here more times than I've wanted because it's near my house and a step up from a chain. Most of the time my meal was missing an ingredient or two that was listed on the menu. The waitstaff often seems clueless. Final straw was when I called to see if I could get food to go and the man noisily huffed in my ear and asked "What do you WANT??" I hung up. On paper it looks good... but don't expect much.

Years ago when this place first opened it seemed like a godsend for Allentown to have a California style restaurant. But as years went by it was clear the place was so poorly run it's amazing it's still in business. They always run out of food on the regular menu and the specials and it's just not good food either. I have a relative who used to work there so I know the inside skinny and it ain't pretty. With so many new and delicious restaurants in the Valley you're better off riding in the car another 10 minutes to get to Melt, Pacificos, 3501, Blue or The Limeport Inn. Even Red Robin serves better food than Pistachio.

The menu is too extensive and not in a good way. The food is overpriced and just not that good. The service is fair.

I just ate here (lunch) for the first time and was very disappointed. The prices were a bit high but the food was ok. (I did like the fries) But the service was horrible! The server only spoke to me to ask what I wanted. He delivered my sandwich, never came back to see how everything was, then delivered my check as he walked past my table. I had to go to the hostess to get my food wrapped. It may have been because I am a middle aged woman dining alone, but I am a server/bartender and know how you should treat your customers. It will be awhile before I try there again.

I ate lunch here recently with my mother and sister. The menu offered a variety of items, and they had some really great specials. I had mussels which were excellent. The unique bread offering was a nice touch. Didn't have a drink, but Pistachio's is noted for their martinis. Good service. My only gripe is that the menu was way too extensive, to the point where it was frustrating trying to pick something out. The lunch menu alone was 6 very long panels in small font, to which another long page was added with daily specials. It was overwhelming. Good though. Update: I had a group event here recently and they had a terrible experience. They called to confirm the turnout the day of - just fine. When the guests arrived they were shoved around the tiny, smoky (yuck!) bar. They host had to ask for the appetizers we requested at least a dozen times. When they finally arrived they were meager at best. Talk about cheap! We will not be returning.

This place is not as good as it thinks it is. The service is often terrible. The only slightly appealing aspect of dining here is that the owner resembles Mr. Furley (Don Knotts) from Three's Company.

Absolutely awful. Awful bordering on horrific. I've given this restaurant several tries over the years, hoping that new management or menu alterations would improve the quality of the food and service, but I've been repeatedly left with the feeling that I want to pelt the restaurant entrance with their overpriced, King's supermarket-purchased stale dinner rolls. Three years ago, I was left waiting wait my meal for two and a half hours (no exaggeration) on New Year's Eve, begrudgingly left our waitress a tip, and walked out. The last time I tried Pistachio for lunch, I ordered what sounded like a delicious chicken salad, waited a good 45 minutes, and was charged 15 dollars for iceberg with too much dressing, and a few measely pieces of funky chicken. Then I took a friend out to get dinner, and was delivered a piece of lackluster Bettie Crocker chocolate cake with canned frosting. They take on way too many menu items, rather than doing a few things well, have turtle-speed service, and charge way waaay too much for a sub-par product.
