Not bad. I haven't tried Thai anywhere else so I can't speak to the authenticity but I've been generally pleased with the flavor, portions and price of the food. I agree with some of the other posts about the noodles being a bit sticky on occasion but I like sticky. The soups are consistently good. If you order during the lunch or dinner rush, you may wait 30 min. or longer for your food. Hail Xenu!

Great Thai food! As most reviews mention this is mostly a take out place, but they do have 3 tables to eat in - 2 for four and one for two. We typically eat in, but have also gotten take out. This is our go to Thai place in the Allentown area.

This is a hidden gem in the middle of Allentown. When we lived here it was run by the first owners and she is a real Thai girl and knows how to cook. I hear it was sold and under new people I can only hope it is still as good as before. We ate here at least three times a week. Loved everything.

Great food at fair prices. They have remodeled a bit and now you can eat in the restaurant, so it's not just for takeout. They are very vegan friendly here, and they will prepare food any way you want, just speak up. I eat here almost once a week and I'm never disappointed.

PARKING: since this small restaurant is in the downtown area, parking is a little harder because you have to park in the street and it is a one-way street. INSIDE: small place there are only three tables where are two tables have four chairs and one table has two chairs. This place is more geared for takeout. When you walk in you see the open seating area and to the left is the kitchen, there is no divider or anything blocking you from seeing the kitchen. It feels like being at someone's house where someone is cooking for you. There was one guy working there who was the cook I assume. This place definitely has a hole in the wall feel up to it, but these are some of the best food restaurants. FOOD: we enjoyed the dumplings. They were crunchy on the outside and had tasty meat in the middle. I also liked the dipping sauce, which was a little sweet and very slightly tangy. Pad Thai was different than what we are used to in California in the bay area. This pad Thai was lighter in color and it tasted more sweet rather than spicy although I suppose we could have asked him to make it spicy. STAFF: guy asked where we are from nn made conversation, he is from LA and was nice. Wished us a nice trip. He was able to cook everything by himself and do a person's walk in to go order.

Got TWO orders of their phad thai thinking I'm going to have a delicious lunch tomorrow and chicken satay to go. I'm sitting here with THE MOST FLAVORLESS phad thai ever. Tried to mix it, add lemon and chili flakes. NOTHING. I don't tolerate bullshit when it comes to food I'm paying for. So I called them back as they were walking out half an hour before posted hours. No accountability. I have to wait until Monday to get my refund. They claim to be "the best Thai food in Allentown". Quit faking the funk with that line. Let's be real - you're a fucking disgrace.

Best Thai food I have ever eaten and I am a Thai food enthusiast. Definitely going to come back. I would recommend the madam an curry, the yellow curry and the Tom yum gong with shrimp.

We had Kow Thai cater a large event (180 people) and they were great. We received numerous comments on how great the food was and the owner was very easy to work with leading up to the event. We strongly recommend them for catering small or large events!

Not much to say here other than Kow Thai is the best Thai in the Lehigh Valley. I just wish they were open on weekends and not take-out only!

This is a hidden gem in the Lehigh Valley. The area needs more authentic places like Kow Thai. The curry dishes are incredible. The flavors are rich and fulfilling. To suppress the after spicy taste which is my favorite part, have a glass or two of Thai Tea...extremely refreshing.

As I'm reading these reviews, I really have to wonder if I ate at the same place as everyone else?!? We went here based on a recommendation from my bf's friend. We order yellow curry with tofu, a rice dish, coconut soup and Thai iced tea. The only thing we found acceptable was the iced tea. We REALLY did not like the food. None of the ingredients seemed fresh. They tasted canned. The curry had the flavor of chicken stock. I'm picky about what I love, but not what I eat and I did not eat my curry. My bf felt the same way about his soup and pad Thai. The only nice things I can say is that they did have a lot of veggie options and the service was good. There are many places in the area with much better Thai IMO!!

A great Thai place. Very friendly owners. Vegetarian/vegan friendly if you happen to be. Restaurant is always clean and ingredients fresh. Will also make very authentic cuisine- with regard to spiciness- if you are so inclined.

This is the only place I can admit to visiting twice in one day. I am not giving it a 5 only b/c I feel that the portion was a tad small and priced a tad high. I expected to have left over for days but either I was starving, being a pig, or both it just wasn't enough. I wasn't satisfied. I uploaded some pics. I had the fried rice with chicken - absolutely amazing so fresh, so tasty. I tried the spring roll - hated it (in fairness it was my first time having spring roll, I think it was me not them). And I also tried one of the wings. I just love me some wings! I lile the smaller party wings as opposed to the bigger pieces and that's just how they came. I can't wait to try it again!

Wonderful restaurant, staff, and portions. I try to frequent this place as often as possible, it is literally the only take-out I eat close to home. I recommend the Drunken man noodle, See-me fried rice or any of the appetizers.

Very honestly, if anyone could complain about the food here, they don't know what good Thai food is! I've had Thai from many places and this is GREAT. Fresh ingredients for every appetite, allergy, and taste bud! I bring people here all the time and everyone loves it!! I've had most of the dishes and have been very satisfied with each one. I've seen people on here complain about being buzzed in... WHO CARES?! It takes less than 10 seconds to get in and order your authentic Thai food. The service is friendly, welcoming and helpful. The only thing I would suggest is a better drink selection... but the only reason they don't have many is because people aren't really buying drinks here. They made me a thai iced tea with almond milk. It is my new favorite drink! Great for everyone everytime.

I love Kow Thai! I'm vegan, and Kow Thai offers a ton of vegan options...including curries with tofu or mock duck (delicious!) and vegan pad thai. My favorite dishes are the Penang curry with mock duck, the pad thai, and the satay tofu appetizer.

My Dad and myself were blown away. Their food was just amazing! Not that I can think of any other Thai restaurants in Allentown, but regardless this little place is a must try. They were happy to accommodate my vegan needs and the owner chatted with us a while. He was very nice. It's so funny though, this is really a take out place, but since they did have two small tables set up inside, my dad and I asked if we could sit in and eat. They were happy to have us. We were the only ones inside besides the cooks, but it was great and I can't wait to go back to try more of their vegan dishes. And if you have a hard time finding this place nestled in the random blocks of Allentown, just open your car window. Their amazing smell will lure you in from blocks away.

The neighborhood is not the greatest. You have to get buzzed in to enter the place, but you're just going there to pick up food. I ordered the Thai Basil and it was okay. Nothing special but good enough. My coworkers have eaten here plenty of times and insist that it's the best. So maybe I happened to pick a bland dish.

I have mixed feelings on this place. They often don't deliver, which is annoying. The dishes are higher priced than I'm used to for the size. I've only found one entree that I really like, the thai basil eggplant, but I love it (even though it's pretty spicy). The appetizers are really expensive for tiny portions. The soups are so coconut heavy that I gag. The proprietors are seriously authentic: they barely speak English but are very nice. I keep coming back for that one entree on weeknights when I'm exhausted.

This is by far the best thai food in the lehigh valley! and we've tried them all!!Prices are amazing , food is truly authentic and service is always super quick. We have allways gotton take out but they also have a small seating area. I am also a vegan so they can serve up any item just tell them you are vegan! Masanaman curry is fab , spring rolls are awesome and rice dishes are to die for. Thanks for being my little Thailand in Allentown!!

Was visiting my friend in Allentown and we ordered out from this place. The food was surprisingly good. I'm a big Thai fan and I get it from a bunch of places in DC, the drunken noodles from Kow Thai put all those in DC to shame. The pad thai was also excellent. Prices were very reasonable and food ready quickly.

After reading several recomendations for Kow Thai on various websites, I decided to venture out 8.4 miles (25 minutes local travel) to get some classic Pad Thai. I have never been so disappointed. The noodles tasted like linguini with hot sauce and crushed pepper, not the thin, doused, peanutty deliciousness that I usually associate with Thai food. The shrimp spring rolls were good, however, not $2 each good. I will not be returning back. $23 for crappy Thai takeout, 2 pad Thai's (one chicken, one tofu) and spring rolls, kind of pricey, but not certainly not delicious.

If you want Thai food in a hurry, this is the place to come. It's under new ownership as of this week. Still authentic, but if you were a fan of the old place, be prepared that the menu and the recipes have changed a little. I go for takeout. As the name implies, it's really a take out restaurant. They do have a couple of tables they will set up if you need to eat there, though. Under the new ownership, the menu seems greatly expanded to me with fresh additions. And there is a section for vegetarians, which I appreciate. I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls. You get three instead of the two we got before, so that's a plus on the value side. I also got an interesting coconut lemongrass soup and the red curry. They didn't ask me how spicy I wanted it, and it came back with a little more kick than my husband liked. Very tasty sauce, though. They offered me either of two types of rice. I picked the more exotic one that they said was a type of jasmine rice. It was more substantial than white, but not brown rice exactly. I was glad for the choice. We like it. We'll be back to explore more of the menu.

For delivery the menu says within 2 miles but the younger Asian driver at least may go a little further. Don't forget to tip him well. Also on the current menu it says a minimum of $20 for delivery but the driver will deliver if the total is less.

I am sorry to give such a low rating to an otherwise great restaurant. I was just there over the weekend and my mouth was watering for their usual delectable fare. I have had many dishes but usually stick to my favs the thai dumplings, pad thai and drunken rice. Nice portions and you can get it as spicy as you want. They prepare when you order so there may be a slight wait. No problem if the cuisine is fresh and yummy. However, there was no and I mean no flavor. The vegetables were frozen from a bag and heated in a pan which produced mush and no bright flavors from the peppers or onions. Some soggy peanuts on the side and as for the chicken in both dishes there were some tiny non descript pieces of something rubbery maybe resembling chicken but couldn't actually tell. Really disappointing. On top of that the new owner came in bristling about something and was firing questions to the cook and poor bus boy . I heard him call out moron, idiot and something else while he looked over the receipts. I was embarrassed for both of them and didn't appreciate the rudeness. Thank goodness my was meal was to go, because if I was dining there I would have left. Sorry to see such a great place go down hill. They really gave White Orchids some competition.

Another fantastic dinner from Kow Thai. I introduced a couple of friends to this little gem's cuisine last night. They loved it. One is a fellow vegetarian. We shared a couple yummy appetizers: our favorite were the lettuce wraps. Crisp, filled with flavor and a great light dipping sauce. Our curry was also flavorful with just the right balance of sweet, sour, and hot. The Ginger Tofu was also a hit. My friend who isn't a vegetarian enjoyed Thai Basil stir-fry with chicken. The rice was also just right. I would opt for the brown rice. Well worth the small extra charge. The food traveled well in the 20 minutes it took me to get to my friends house. Everything was packed so that the goodness stayed in the containers. The hardest part was driving with the wonderful aromas coming from the bags. Kow Thai Take Out won 2 new fans last night, and I will definitely be back.

If you're looking for quick, convienient, tasty Thai take out this is definitely the place to try. As one person wrote a little gem in otherwise crappy area of Allentown. Don't try to eat there, it's definitely a take-out place, but it's reasonably price, has good service and I've never gotten anything bad there in 5+ years. There are several newer Thai places popping up recently but all seem over-priced and not worth the bother.

As the name suggests, Kow Thai is essentially a takeout restaurant. You can sit and eat there, you just have to let the staff know and they will bust out a table and a few chairs. However, the shop doesn't have a lot of space and when it gets busy, you might have a few people breathing down your neck or worse still, on your food. I was actually on the way to La Placita a few blocks away when I ended up driving past Kow Thai. Since I'd been craving Thai, I'd thought I'd take a chance and go there. Big mistake! I was so disappointed with my food that I ended up having a second dinner at La Placita. When you first walk into Kow Thai, you are greeted by a Jewish man manning the counter. That should've been my first clue to turn around and run. But the cooks who I spied behind the counter looked Thai so I thought it would be alright. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai (#13), a Pad Prik Khing (#20) and rice. The Pad Thai was basically noodles with food coloring -- absolutely tasteless. The Pad Prik Khing, on the other hand, looked nothing like it was supposed to. Pad Prik Khing is usually a dry curry of meat/tofu and string beans. This was a gravelicious orange curry with all the veggies under the rainbow except green beans. I asked the Jewish guy if there was some mistake, he referred to the cook (who I suspect is his wife), and she said that yes, it is the Pad Prik Khing. I'm from Southeast Asia and have eaten Pad Prik Khing in Thailand, Singapore and Thai Town in LA. And I'm sorry, I've never seen Pad Prik Khing like that before. Again, I explained my concerns with the staff at Kow Thai but they just shrugged their shoulders and looked at me as though I was the crazy one. Here are a few independent urls and pics about Pad Prik Khing: tigersandstrawberries.co… thaicookingwithjam.blogs… Honestly, the orange curry masquerading as Pad Prik Khing was fairly tasty, but it wasn't what I ordered. Imagine going to a restaurant, ordering a steak and ending up with a hamburger. Not good. As I picked at my "Pad Prik Khing", more and more people came in to make takeout orders and because there are only two cooks, the wait for new orders was as long as 45 min! After the 20th or so takeout person breathed down my neck, I decided enough was enough. I packed my food up and went over to La Placita. Best decision ever. The tacos were dee-lish! For a takeout place, it is very expensive. My total bill was nearly $20 for 2 mediocre dishes. I think I must've counted 5 shrimp in my Pad Thai. What a rip-off! Please avoid Kow Thai. It is expensive and bad. Thai food doesn't taste like that. It tastes 100x better!

I have ordered from Kow Thai several times and the today was the most recent order. I had the Tom Yum Koong with Shrimp soup which was, as always, delicious, flavorful and full of mushrooms floating on top. I also had the See You Noodle (Pad Ce- Aew) which was also delicious, but for the $1 extra I paid to have shrimp in it, they could have been a little more generous as they only gave me 4 shrimps (25¢ a shrimp!). Sorry, but I had to deduct a star for that. The waiting area is small and there is a couch with a table in front of it. I also noticed several folding chairs leaning against a wall and I am guessing that is what's used when someone wants to dine in. For the record, I've been here several times for take out lunch and have never seen anyone eating there.

Very good, reasonably-priced Thai take-out. Yes take-out...if it was meant to be a sit-down restaurant, it would not have "take-out" in its name. Food is very good and owners are from Thailand so it IS authentic Thai. One of the nice things I notice about Thai food is that is different everywhere you go. You cannot please everyone apparently. Owners are extremely nice people too, so if you are not prejudice you won't have an issue eating here.

I am sadly dissapointed...since the place was under new ownership i have been there three times. the first time the food was good and i would have given the place at least 3 stars. the next two times were not very good. i had seen some pretty good reviews lately and so i though i would give it another try. this time the pad thai was barely edible. it was sticky, dry, and tasteless. I also tried some of the crab fried rice and that was pretty good. I don't think that we will be going back though. especially with so many thai restaurants to choose from in this area.

This really is a special little place. The food is super fresh. All of the dishes we tried were fantastic. The curry dishes were fantastic and the soups are great too. They will be able to deliver in a few weeks (I hear)... thats the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. FYI - there are just 1 or 2 tables inside so plan on bringing it home to eat.

My friend and I visited Kow Thai for dinner tonight. We had Vegetarian Garden Roll as an appetizer and loved it, especially dipping it in the sweet/spicy chili sauce. My main dish was Shrimp Pad Thai and my friend ordered Vegetarian Fried Rice. Everything was very good and fresh. The owner and cooks are Thai and the food reminded me of my trips to Thailand. We will definitely be back. I almost forgot to mention: we love the Thai iced tea, too!

Kow Thai is a little gem in Allentown. I know Thai food, and the food is awesome. The owner/cook is from Thailand, and will gladly adapt anything on the menu to suit your needs or tastes. Not to mention she's super friendly! Try the pumpkin stir-fry for a different and authentic dish you can't get just anywhere!

I live a couple blocks from Kow Thai, and I have to say this restaurant is in the top three reasons why I love where I live. The food is delicious, there are a variety of choices and it has a Fantastic "greatest neighborhood find" feel to it. Yes, my proximity is fantastic (esp. Since we often order delivery, and receive our food hot and fresh in 15 mins), but it is truly the delicious authenticity and quality of the food, that has me choose Kow Thai over it more expensive Thai competitors any day.
