All I can say is WOW! We are in town from Missouri and refuse to eat anywhere else! Great food! Great service! Clean and tidy! I wish I could take this place back to Missouri with me so they could show them how a restaurant is supposed to operate. Oh did I mention the prices are really reasonable! Thank You Golden Gate! See you next trip!

Great old-fashioned diner with great simple food at low prices. The staff is very nice, the owner Gus is a really cool guy. Great little place.

One of my favorite spots in the valley! Friendly staff, fast service and amazing food at a great price. The have very good breakfast and I like the coffee. For dinner I usually get the golden gate burger and fries with gravy on the side or the chicken parmesan meal with soup and salad. I've never had a bad meal and always leave happy. This is a great diner!

Sometimes, it's just a matter of the luck of the draw. You ask for 3 cards and hope you get something to make your hand stronger. Sometimes you do; sometimes you don't. So, I was in the really authentic 50's Golden Gate Diner on Union Boulevard on Sunday morning. I sat at the counter as is my preference when dining alone. It permits a view of the entire operation, and a good chance to chat with the service folks. They were great women - diverse and each with a story to tell. Some had been there over 20 years and knew several generations of customers. Others, had been there much less time, but felt themselves slowly getting sucked into the time machine some diners become. My server, Du, had been slinging it for only 4 years, and her Vietnamese habits were morphing into "honey doll" argot. She was friendly and sweet. These were characters from a Steinbeck novel. I wanted a relatively healthy start and ordered Oatmeal, Toasted Corn Muffin and Coffee. I noticed the large muffins on the counter next to me, wrapped in Saran. I asked if they were fresh, and to her credit she said she was not sure as she had not been on the day before. I decided to take a chance, they looked so good. A few minutes later the bowl of Oatmeal arrived along with the Muffin. The gruel's edges had a splatter pattern that looked to be the work of a microwave. The lumpy texture confirmed it had not been prepared on a stovetop. The taste was okay, but I was let down that I had not drawn an Ace. The Corn Muffin lay in crumbled pieces. It had not survived intact from the wrap, to the grill, onto the plate. Distinct signs of freezing and defrosting. The taste was right, but the texture was slightly dry, and it was impossible to spread any butter without further disintegration. Drew another low card. This was not my day. The Coffee was quite good and replenished often. As any gambler would do with these cards in hand; I folded. I transferred my coffee into a "to go" cup, left a Susan B as a tip, and went looking for another game.

This old-fashioned diner offers excellent an excellent value and is open 24/7 for even more convenience. Prices are about as cheap as you will get at a sit down restaurant and you will receive plenty of food. The service was extremely quick and the servers were also very friendly. This will be one of my go-to places while living here in Allentown.

I love this diner I go here all the time during the school year whenever they allow us to go out cause let's face it school lunch is plain gross but anyways it's cheap and the service was quick I would only have about 40 minutes to be back for lunch and in that time I would go to the diner and eat there and be back with at least 7 minutes to spear not most people went there in my school because they assumed it would be expansive but it's the complete opposite so of course me and my friends liked even more because it was empty and cheap

I have always been impressed by The Golden Gate Diner's ability to decorate for even the most obscure holidays. When I went there last weekend I was expecting Valentines Day or President's Day but NO.... MARDI GRAS!!! This appreciation for celebration blew my mind. I was curious if they were going to rush and change up the decor in time for Valentines Day wait 3 days and then switch to Presidents Day. They probably have a Decor Committee that has heated debates over what the monthly theme will be. Or Maybe they have a special staff that comes in for each holiday, which is probably every other week. I wonder if they do anything for MLK's B-day. I wouldn't be surprised if they had "garden clean up" in their lil front lot. Golden Gate Diner.... You get 5 stars for sheer joy-spreading. Thank you!

I just had breakfast at the retro-fabulous, clean and friendly Golden Gate. I couldn't remember the last time I was there, probably because it was sometime in middle of the night after partying at the Sterling Hotel in 1992. But I'm glad I went back, in the daytime. Inexpensive, tasty food, great service, and I love that they have pretty flowers in the front of the vintage diner facade. Oh, and the waitresses call you "hon" which gets bonus points!

This place is so legit. The food's not incredible, but definitely worth the price. It's also probably the most existential place in Bethlehem. And make sure you get to meet the waitress Lina, she's the best. Good place to with friends on a school night when your all bored.

Two words, hungry Yelpers: COUNTRY STYLE. It's on the menu, not attached clearly to the omelets or the specials or anything else, but the country style is there and it is unforgettable. You want everything all in one pile? you got it. It's salty, breakfasty, hammy, eggy: all of that important "food group" stuff. They didn't quite seem to understand when i wanted it with cheese, though. It just came with two slices dropped on top (the size of the thing dwarfs two slices of American Cheese), which seems like a pretty preposterous way to cheese an omelet. Beyond that you've got the coffee, which is surprisingly tasty, and the decor, which is a hot mess of awesome. The Golden Gate is so cheap and fun that it's nuts to skip it.

Love having breakfast here! Have never been for any other meal, but the breakfasts are filling at an unbelievably affordable price, the waitresses are kind and caring, and the place is filled with regulars. True big-hearted Allentown greatness.

Pros: OPEN 24 HOURS!!! Good, typical Greek diner food at cheap prices. Con: Can't think of any right now, really. Okay, so the "OPEN 24 HOURS!!!" pro was a bit of overkill. I mean, there are a couple of other diners along Union Blvd. that can boast the same thing (Top Diner, Izzy's Family Restaurant). And both offer pretty much the same type of food as well. But bear in mind a few facts: 1) I only have a bicycle as transportation. 2) I live in South Bethlehem. 3) I've had bouts of insomnia recently And of course, the only 24 hour places I knew of until were: a) Pantry One/WaWa (subs are nice and all, but kinda old for me. Plus, you can't sit down) b) Dunkin Donuts (good coffee, good donuts, good other food, but kinda limited) c) Queen City Diner (decent food but, too far away) d) Bethlehem Diner (crappy food AND too far away) So imagine my surprise, around 11 pm a couple of nights ago, when I ran into this diner while in the area. I planned on staying up all night and getting a lot of reading done, and I needed food and coffee to power my way through. My dinner was a country omelet, with buttered toast which was very good and cost less than $5. Coffee was 95 cents, and had unlimited refills (very important). And my 'breakfast' later on, which was really a 5 am snack, was the Cheesesteak Omelette: it was pretty much as Brian L described. There were two menus during the time I was there: a 'regular' menu featuring everything, and a breakfast menu. Interestingly enough, the breakfast menu items all included complimentary coffee, while the breakfast items in the 'regular' menu didn't. Then again, the breakfast menu offered vastly more breakfast items, so....I really have no point, I guess. Anyway, my goal was to get a ton of reading done, and I succeeded. The night-shift waitress was quite attentive and kept asking if I needed coffee and water refills. So thank you Golden Gate Diner - for being around when I needed you. Even though you're a good 30 minute bike ride away from me, you're worth the trip whenever I plan to stay up all night reading. EDIT: The food's good, but not that good. I was kinda intoxicated with the concept of a nearby 24 hour diner more than anything. So 4 stars it is.

Typical Greek diner. Recommended by one of my Greek friends. Had something on their menu I've never really seen on any other diner menus. They had a Cheese Steak Omelette which was recommended by my friend. So of course, I had to try it. The omelette was very flavorful and the home fries were that perfect mix of crispy and soft. I would definitely come back here.

Your average diner. If you're aching to sit around for a few hours and drink a billion cups of coffee, this is the place. The food is pretty good, but again it's just regular diner food. Gus, the owner, is amazingly awesome and remembers things about my family and friends from years ago which is lovely. Cheap, cheap, cheap!

great place for any-hour-of-the-day sustenance. better to go on the off hours bc it's packed otherwise. of all the diners in this general vicinity, this is my go-to. why? *open 24/7 *extremely friendly, fast, and attentive service *clean - completely non-smoking now *the cheapest prices around *the decor (see below) look, this is not a gourmand destination. if you appreciate foods that pair well with catsup, this is your place. it is what it is. that being said, here are a few faves: gravy cheese (american) fries accompanied with bleu cheese dressing, potato filling with gravy, the patty melt ($3.95 for the sammie and fries), homefries with onions - extra crispy, meatloaf :) and any omelette. they also have a myriad of greek diner pies and cakes if you have the room when you've finished your main. this is an old-school aluminum diner and the interior is sure to delight. kitschy seasonal decorations are hung from the ceiling as well as fully adorn a high ledge running the length of the serving area. my fave is the easter-time amalgam... how can bunnies, chicks, and sparkly pastels not bring a smile to your face?

This diner is one of many on the union blvd. strip, and I think thus far ranks above the others I've tried. It is a true old diner, with cool dated retro interior. The service was friendly and good. Food was decent and very cheap - $2 for a burger. the place was packed mid-day on sunday, probably due to the fact that it is right next door to a church. There were clearly a lot of regulars there who were on a first-name basis with the waitstaff. Only downer was that the neatest part of the diner was the designated smoking area. Definitely worth checking out if you live in the neighborhood.
