The decor is beautiful, and the drinks were fabulous, but that's about where it stopped. The service was painfully slow (20 minutes to get drinks), and the food was mediocre at best. I had the pork belly appetizer, and my husband had the corn jicama salad, both were was tasty, but not very inspired. For dinner I had the braised pork shank, which had little flavor. My husband had the wild boar ragout, which was strangely sweet and the fettuccine was mush. We were given two coupons to buy one entree, get another free, and I think they'll be passed on as we won't be going back any time soon.

Beautiful decor. Extremely comfortable seating, spaced far enough apart to allow for private conversations. Wait staff extremely slow but attentive when in your presence. One thing I detest is for wait staff to correct my pronunciations of dishes I order. I know how to pronounce osso bucco. Too many extraneous staff scurrying about, busy with activities that seem at cross purpose. Hostess, who seats people, also sets up tables. Lots of cross contamination with staff handling flatware, handling menus that clients handle, clearing tables, serving. Potentially a public health violation. It appears that the entire Cosmopolitan operation lacks systems and processes. The basement kitchen is, perhaps, a distinct disadvantage. My Caeser salad was absolutely unimaginative while my husband's beet salad was tasty but mediocre. His entree, a duck duo, was very tasty. My osso buco resembled something I'd expect on an airplane in first class--tasty but so-so, as in so packaged. For dessert, we shared the coconut tres leche. The presentation lacked any inspiration but certainly incited a hefty dose of dreary disappointment. On an unadorned white platter, this dessert included two dry, coconut bars, each with a strip of chocolate syrup and one scoop of ice cream. The ambiance included a mechanical pianist who played every song at the same tempo, leading me to think he wasn't playing at all. He seemed to be pretending to play while a piano player plunked their pitiful tunes. Overall, I'm not impressed with the food or the wait staff. However, the decor and the valet service were wonderful. It was fun to try a new place, for certain. However, while I find the prices to be within acceptable range for a restaurant of similar type, their quality of food and their service are truly disappointing.

Dined with a group of 8 friends on 12/29/12; service, drink selections, food & presentation were tremendous ! Had everything but dessert, all for $130 a couple. Reasonably priced for the entire experience. Only negative, had table right behind the water, every time the door opened, the wind came, sprinkling us with some mist. Added to the flavor of the evening !

My family of four, and my mother went here for dinner prior to a show at Symphony Hall (right across the street). This is a beautifully decorated, comfortable restaurant. The seats are spaced well. It is noisy because the bar is too close to the seating. For the price, the food is good. I think the service could be better. Yes, it's nice to hire, young and attractive wait staff, but experience is needed in upscale restaurants. My daughters 9 and 11 were treated well, and they actually enjoyed their food. Something my children never enjoy in high end restaurants. The filet mignon is fabulous. My daughter ate every morsel. I had the salmon, and it was very good. My mother had another fish which she enjoyed. My husband also had the steak, and said it was fabulous. I'd suggest it for a special evening, and I'd suggest to dress business casual. It's a nice place to stop before the show.

This is the newest addition to Allentown's restaurant scene. It opened with much fanfare after a rumored investment of several million dollars. The place is huge - 5 floors in nice weather, 3 in other months. Since it is new, I thought I'd give it some time to work out the kinks - unfortunately there are still a lot of kinks to work out. First off the decor - there is marble, a HUGE chandelier, and a beautiful bar but the rest of it was very bland. I felt like I was in a hotel, not in a stand alone restaurant. They need to turn it up a notch to be a destination restaurant. Everything was very neutral and blah. If there was a conscious decision and more commitment to white it would make a statement, but instead from the club chairs to the drapes it just felt very boring and safe. There were details - but all the wrong kinds. From lights on the creases of the stairs, to the toilets and sinks which were different colors it just seemed off, if not dated. Secondly the service needs a little polish. You expect to be treated like royalty for a $140 price tag for two. They didn't offer to take our coats until we got to our table creating an awkward moment, and the host didn't offer to pull out my chair - even after I struggled with the somewhat heavy wooden piece. The host offered me a black napkin stating that the white one may leave lint on my black dress - an odd comment I thought. The waiter was good, but also had a misstep by not taking our empty wine glasses after we ordered beer and a cocktail. Now onto the food, my appetizers were outstanding, but as another reviewer noted my lobster was rubbery at best. If it wasn't so late I probably would have sent it back. My husband had duck which was a special offer for the evening and said it was excellent. Overall our experience was mediocre at best. My husband felt the meal was worth $100, not $140 plus tip. I would not recommend at this price point until things dramatically improve.

I been to this place several times and it has never disappointed. The food is excellent and the staff is great. The food is a bit pricey but I would say that you are getting what your paying for. This place is the best restaurant in the Lehigh Valley for a fine dining experience. Just make sure that your looking at the type of wine that your ordering, because there are some bottles that are over $700. YES THAT'S RIGHT. But over all its a great restaurant.

I'm going with 4 stars but I've only gone for drinks a couple times, I think if I had eaten here I might drop down to 3 stars with what you get for the price. The place itself is amazing, especially for downtown Allentown. The bartenders when I've been there have been great both in terms of service and drink knowledge. The manager there both times was awesome and one in particular gave us a tour of the rooftop bar even though it was closed (and RAINING!). I would definitely recommend as an option for a happy hour or a few drinks to start the night but I think I'd leave it at that. The roof top bar seemed great as well although it was hard to tell with no one out there. Hope it makes it as it's a nice option to have downtown Allentown.

A fine dining experience with an appropriately priced menu. Recommend for a special night out! We went on a Monday night with reservations. The atmosphere is beautiful and the way the complimentary valet service swoops in to open (both) of your car doors for you starts you off feeling like you are royalty. Hang on a second - is this really down town allentown? Not sure this place will make it in this location. There was only one other table of diners and we learned later they were one of the owners! Vegetarian options are limited and most things that could be vegetarian on the menu (mushroom risotto for instance) are NOT. So make sure you ask if it matters to you. They were quick to offer to make something special, although my boyfriend did not take them up on it. Everything we had was delicious! He had the guerye gourgeses (sp?) - awesome but a bit sweet for a muse, french fries (just cause he wondered how they would be) - pretty good, mac and cheese with tomato fondue - good but under seasoned, and mushroom fettucini - fabulous. I had tuna tartare - excellent although the olives overpowered a bit, veal cheeks ravioli - fabulous and brussel sprouts - fabulous. For dessert we had chocolate ice cream and the bittersweet chocolate terrine. All the desserts are made in house - even the ice creams and sorbets - and what we had was quite nice but not over the top amazing. Prices are about right, maybe even a bit on the reasonable side for the quality of ingredients, complexity of the menu and the service - and of course for the atmosphere which really was special. Service was flawless - especially the timing of delivery out of the kitchen. Of course, given that we were just about the only guests I would hope that would be the case!

Ok,is what I graded here. Food is very good, preseented nicely and the menu is a nice blend of creativity and some simple items. I came with a group of four on Saturday night 12/8, Coming into center city Allentown is something I avoid as much as possible. The city has tried to reinvent itself many times. My wife was checking their menu and found it to be appealing,I agreed.I'll try to review in short (ha). Wine list impressive but expensive.Wine by glass $9 up.Cocktails $10 up.Soup and Salads $8-14.Entrees 18-40.A La carte sharing sides 6-8.My point is that this is Allentown, not NYC or Philly.Once you clear the smoke of menu terminology,we see vegetables, soup, steak, fish, pork, pasta, poultry, cake. There was nothing outstanding and commanding the big city cost.Surely wages can't compare.I'm not a money snob, but I know food cost. Portions were correct for this style of dining leaving room for dessert. The main dining area is new clean, smartly decorated and kinda dimly lit.I had to use my phone to read the menu clearly.A great special date place. There's private dining areas for groups as well. The staff that night seemed young and not so polished. We needed to ask for common things thoughout our meal, soup spoon for soup, bread with salads and coffee with dessert. Serving timing was very good though.I don't want to nit pick servers but there were opportunities to make the experience at this price more enjoyable. That is the chance to get return business. The comp.valet at the front door is fantastic, since center city is still a mess, but if they bring you the wrong car you feel stupid (and worried) tipping the guy who gets it right. All in all, I didn't feel treated as well as they could have. This is management's issue. If you slack on hospitality, you will lose clients.I'll travel for good food and hospitality. We were given bogo entree cards for January and their website offers the same.I'll give them another chance.I didn't have the chance to check out the rest of the place, bar or bathroom as they are upstairs(elevator),but my wife said the ladies room was lovely.

Went to Hess's night. While it was nice to recall Hess's, and the restaurant is beautiful, I must agree with the other general reviews. Service is very, very slow and not all that good.

A beautiful setting in Allentown, across the street from Symphony Hall. Food and service were excellent. We had assorted apps prior to a show and returned later for drinks and music (small combo). Would definitely go back for a date with the wife or for a business dinner. Wine list is one of the better ones in the Valley. Free valet service makes it easy to arrive and depart.

Had a late bite. Only ones in the place and sat at the bar. Bartender Dejah, very attentive. I had a salad and tuna tartar, excellent! Hubby had N Y strip, also excellent. Decor, beautiful. Will def go back

Fabulous New Years Eve dinner. Was in town visiting family and this was their recommendation. I must say it was a good one! Our server was very attentive, but not standing over us every minute which often comes with upscale restaurants. Beautiful decor; elegant but not stuffy. Food was very good. Loved, loved the olive bread. Yummmmm! Highly recommend!

My first experience with Cosmopolitan a month ago was a strange one. The meal was outstanding but the service was awful. Sooooo slow. Slow to get drinks, slow to take orders, slow to get food. But the food was so good i begged my husband to come back. The second visit we went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was relatively empty. Our waiter looked and acted like he was high. Once again service was painfully slow. But unfortunately this time the food didn't blow me away. It wasn't bad- but could not compensate for the horrible service. Also my husband and I each ordered a glass of the same Malbec... mine tasted like old musty wine. My husband's was fine. I told the waiter something was wrong and he sheepishly admitted it was from an opened bottle. It really is a shame the owners invested so much money into this restaurant but not the time to make sure it is run appropriately. I love the atmosphere and downtown location- but I can't imagine it will be around much longer unless the owners get control of the service issues.

Great atmosphere, service and overall food quality. I enjoy coming to Cosmo. Food wise it is excellent overall. However, the tuna tartare is below what I would expect. I would not recommend it. Beer selection could be improved to offer more high end beers. Not everyone wants to drink wine.

Positives first: I like the complementary Valet parking. The valet's were prompt and helpful. It is nice that you don't have to worry about parking. The decor and building is spectacular. The owners have spent their money in really putting together a great and inviting atmosphere. Brunch buffet for children was half price. They did have people filling water glasses and coffee. Negatives: We went their for the brunch on Mother's day and were very disappointed They only had one waiter which I feel bad for him, but I believe the management should have tried to get someone else to help with the service. Remember this is a brunch so the waiter only needs to take drink orders and provide the check. I was surprised that the hosts and hostesses did not roll up their sleves and help more. I counted three hosts/hostesses but only 1 waiter. They could have certainly assisted more with the orders. The brunch buffet was jammed into the corner. The selections were very limited. One pancake and one omelet station. There was no scrambled eggs and no fruit served. Frankly, I have had better brunch buffets at Marriott Courtyards. Was not impressed and will not come back for the brunch buffet. I would have expected more from a high-end restaurant. It is too bad the owners did not invest more in brunch buffet. Our family enjoys a nice buffet for brunch. I will certainly go back in the future, but will avoid Sunday brunch. We have eaten at the restaurant twice, and really like the atmosphere.

We had dinner here last night and the food and service were both very good. A bit pricey, though. The problem is - there is no crowd. It sounds odd to say that, but it was too quiet and too empty for a Friday night. I like a little more "volume" and excitement in the air. Way too "dead" for my taste.

Loveeeeee this place! Me and hubby stopped by since it's close to our other home out this way, it was great... Service food and the beautiful atmosphere ... They are recently developing this area of town and it's coming along quite wonderful !

I've been here three times and the last time was the best. I think the place has come together well. The area has improved as well and the parking was very convenient. The service was very prompt and unobtrusive and attentive. Minor flaws which maybe put it into a 4 1/2 star category (but the whole experience given the Allentown location bumped it to 5). The flaws were the food may seem under seasoned for some (I don't like salt and I was pleased) and it was a bit drafty. I had the buffalo won tons which were inventive, crispy and spicy without being greasy or heavy at all. The salmon was great great and the desert menu was really good with an unbelievable "deconstructed" cannoli which I absolutely loved. I was really impressed.

If you are looking for a venue to host an event, I highly recommend you go somewhere else. I found the staff at the Cosmopolitan to be extremely disrespectful and uncooperative. While attending a private event, I had some of my belongings stolen. I tried to work with the management to recover my belongings they were extremely rude and questioned my own actions for losing the items. I was always under the assumption that in the service based industry the customer always comes first - but at the Cosmopolitan you will find that this is not the case. This venue is not safe, their staff is rude and disrespectful, and is not worth booking an event with.

Shrimp bisque appetizer was cold and so was it's replacement. Took a third time before the kitchen staff could send it out hot. The bronzino was tasty and cooked correctly but the kohlrabi that came with it was raw and not seasoned. Wait staff very disorganized and manager clueless on the basics of running a restaurant. Extremely disappointing experience and definitely not worth the $50 per person charge. One can do much better just about anywhere else in the city. Yes, we complained to both the manager & the owner. Very strange, worthless excuses. Felt like we were in a bad movie.

For a sophisticated, romantic dinner, the Cosmopolitan is highly recommended both for its food and its service. We came for dinner on a Thursday night and were treated to delicious salads and entrees. The lobster salad was excellent and the salmon entree, on a bed of pea purée and delicate gnocchi was first rate. The tilefish entree was also a joy. A shared creme brûlée ended a fine meal. Our waiter was very knowledgable and courteous and he made us us aware that on Thursdays, wine by the bottle are half price, what a value. The complimentary valet parking was very prompt and convenient. We look forward to our next visit.

Just had brunch for the third time and again not dissapointed. I had the crab Benedict the most expensive offering at only $13. delicious! And the all you can drink bloody Mary's at$14. The menu is nicely varied; something for everyone. The atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy, the service is always perfect and the free valet parking is a bonus although I rarely use it because there is always parking close by.

Cosmopolitan exceeded our expectations. My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary with them at their newly added chef's table. Executive Chef Justin Cogan and his team created a custom menu for our night. We enjoyed the 10 course tasting menu with expertly paired wines. Everything was executed with perfection. The Lehigh Valley exclusive Chef's Table is located in their kitchen and allows diners to experience the behind the scenes action involved in making this place tick. Our meal was paced well and we were well attended to by their general manager. We were told that this was their inaugural service at the chef's table. If that's the case then I have no doubt that everyone will enjoy their time in the kitchen. I will be sure to reserve the chef's table again and I will definitely try to fill the 6 person capacity. Thank you again and see you all soon.

My husband and I dined at Cosmopolitan on Saturday, February 7. Overall, I have to say we were not impressed. I felt like the food was good, but highly overpriced. We did not order any drinks. We had the Cheesesteak Spring Rolls as an app, I definitely recommend these! They were delicious and the cheese sauce served with them was perfect. For our entrees, I ordered the Wild Boar Bolognese and my husband ordered the Braised Beef Short Rib. My bolognese was nothing to rave about, I feel like I could make a similar one at home that would taste just as good. I was not impressed with it at all. My husband's beef short rib entree was delicious. The short ribs were cooked perfectly, they were tender and delicious. Overall, I personally thought the atmosphere was a little stuffy. I suppose if you like more fine dining and dressing more formal (some men were in suits or at least suit jackets) then this may peak your interest. In the area we were sitting, barely anyone was talking to each other. It was really weird.

Beautiful restaurant. The valet is free and very convenient for that area of town. The hosts were pleasant and the waiter met us immediately. Drinks took a bit long and food service was slightly slow but we were in no rush. The carrot ginger soup was prepared at the table and very creamy and fresh. The duck was done medium well as we requested and was like butter. The apple farro was delicious. And the grouper is also a dish worth trying. The triple chocolate dessert is worth saving room for. Pricy but worth it with the buy one get one entrée free coupon.

Here it is folks...you've read bunches of generous 3-star reviews. It's time for the 2-star (or less) review it really deserves. If you do not have time to read 4 paragraphs, this place is a "try". Not a "must-go". Lets keep in mind this place self describes itself as a place offering "exceptional food and drinks coupled with outstanding service in a beautiful, classic setting." We went with a group of friends, 7 of us in total. The complementary valet is wonderful. Food: The food was good. Main menu was a little small and I do not know how often it is changed. Specials of the day did a good job to supplement the menu...and while I'm thinking of the Menu...I felt the actually physical menu was an over-sized card for the sake of being over-sized. Back on point, the food was good. Not great. Not amazing. It was well made, tasted good, but perhaps a touch uninspired. For Appitizers I tasted the cheese-steak spring rolls (very good), shrimp skewers (very good), and corn soup (soup du jour; excellent). Let's talk through the soup. The server (not main waiter) came to the table with the soup and had to inquire who it belonged to (this occurred with all food delivery and I'll crush them in the service part of this review below). The bowl came unfilled (+1) but with fresh off the cob corn and finely chopped pancetta. I like when they pour the soup at the table...its a nice touch. The soup was excellent! More stock based than cream. It was smooth and thin but not watery. The soup itself was excellently flavored with a slight spice to the broth (with no visible black pepper) and sweet as a corn soup can be. The pancetta really complimented the broth. This was well done. Passed on a salad course and headed straight to the main. Oh, I almost forgot. I was the DD so my cocktail of choice was lemonade. Fresh hand squeezed. Good call for the non-drinker or DD in your party. Back to the main course...I had a strip steak special. It was very good. The steak was cooked properly, seasoned well and very flavorful. Definitely was the Prime cut it was pitched as. The broccoli on the plate was another matter. It was a bit flavorless despite the bbq drizzle on it. Needed 30 seconds less in the steamer and a light toss of butter (or some salt). In the middle of the summer I expect a nice, fresh vegetable medley. There is no excuse but laziness here on the veg. Potato to the rescue. Sliced, layered, twice baked potato cake was awesome. Hot, crispy top and bottom with a creamy smooth center texture. This was everything the broccoli was not. All my other friends reported very good to excellent meals too. Duck, Halibut, Wild Mushroom Fettucini all very good dishes. Service: Our main waiter was very nice and capable. He may have been the more experienced one as the other assistants were new or inexperienced at a restaurant of this nature. Like many have reviewed back in 2011 folks who served the food did not know where it was suppose to go and this includes mains. This still needs to be corrected. Men's room was w/o hand towels for much of the night. Departing with wet hands is a SMH moment. Setting: Clearly a significant investment was made in the decor and design. The materials and design are extremely sophisticated and high end. Its a blend of modern and elegant. The bathrooms were floor to ceiling marble tile, grand staircase was spacious and the center hallway chandelier all well thought out. To wrap up...the i's are not dotted and the t's not crossed with this establishment. Little things add up to be big things. Cosmo can be fixed and improved. Every area has some flaws (some multiple) that quickly detract from the whole. Good luck with your experience.

I really wanted to give 5 stars but there were a few issues. The atmosphere is amazing and it felt like being in a high end casino restaurant (we just came back from AC). We had made a reservation with open table and indicated it was my birthday. When we were seated there was a Birthday/ Thank You card signed by the executive chef; Classy! The menu is small and seasonal. My husband ordered the NY strip special and it was good but after we saw the price on the bill he felt money would have been better spent on the filet. His broccoli was under cooked and under seasoned and went uneaten. We had shared the grilled Caesar salad and was surprised how tasty it was. I was on a mission to save room for dessert so I ordered the scallop dish. I am big on scallops being prepared properly; these were only seared on my one side but cooked well. The quinoa was awesome but I was disappointed that the pea purée was cold! I ordered a second Cosmo for dessert (for a place named Cosmopolitan their drinks are spot on!) I ordered the Hess's strawberry pie I came for and my husband ordered the seasonal dessert of sponge cake with sweet corn ice cream and candied bacon. The strawberry pie is just as we remembered it from the patio and took half home. I loved the sweet corn ice cream but the sponge was lacking and the bacon was intense. The service was exceptional from the valets to the servers. We will certainly go Again sometime.

Fancy, pretentious and VERY expensive, esp. for Lehigh Valley. Food is good, not great and portions are small. Believe you can do much better for your $$ elsewhere in Lehigh Valley.

We had our wedding at the Cosmopolitan in late 2013. From the time we saw the ballroom we knew the cosmopolitan would fit our needs. Once we made a decision we had several meetings and the tasting prior to the event, all went off without a hitch. The cocktail hour was in the rooftop bar. It's was a perfect space for the cocktail hour since it was large enough for all the guests to spread out enjoy the hors d'oeuvres and drinks before move to the ball room. Following cocktail hour we moved to the main room. The main ballroom at the cosmopolitan is beautiful featuring two levels with a open floor plan, classy bar area, and beautifully appointed bathrooms. The room is beautiful and our Decore complemented it's natural set up well. Initially we select the cosmopolitan because we wanted quality food. We were not disappointed. We had numerous people explain to us how great the food was following the ceremony. Food-service was well done and we quickly were able start dancing. Additionally many guest commented on the fact of the drinks were prepared well and there's never an issue with waiting for cocktails. One of the main pluses about the Cosmopolitan in Allentown is the fact they have free valet parking seven days a week during all operational hours. This was a great benefit for guests and allowed for them to have a carefree experience at our reception. Additionally the nice thing about the cosmopolitan is there are no additional fees for weddings. They have house linens chairs up lighting and additional services that all come within the price without the additional add-ons. There are three specific wedding packages but they do accommodate for some interchanging within the packages. Overall we are pleased with the planning implementation and actual event of our wedding reception at the cosmopolitan and would recommend it to anyone planning a wedding in Lehigh Valley.

There were plenty of reasons to give this place 2 stars. The service recovery of they manager, some bright spots here and there, and a couple of good courses are the only reason they are getting 3 and the only reason I might return. We arrived early, on purpose, to have drinks at the bar. I ordered a Manhattan on the rocks. I got a glass of bourbon with some sweet vermouth in it. A shaker wasn't used, bitters weren't there, nor was a garnish. Weak. If I wanted bourbon and vermouth on the rocks I would have ordered that. We were sat 15 minutes after our reservation time...unacceptable, and they should have bought our drinks at the bar (especially at a place like this). Waitress took forever to come to the table...unacceptable. Appetizers were auctioned off (who had the salad?)...unacceptable. My entree was borderline terrible. There was barely any veal in my veal cheek ravioli, the mushrooms were weak and the raviolis were overcooked. I will say that other people seemed to enjoy their entrees, my appetizer (pork belly) was very nice and desert was great, as well (panna cotta). Now, after being sat 15 minutes late, we were sat at arguably the worst table in the restaurant. On a cold night, they shouldn't have a table that close to the door and when you're already seating someone so late, why seat them there? I must give credit to their manager who handled the situation relatively well with a very generous gift card and sincere apology (after she got past a little bit of condescending snark). If this place wasn't so expensive and so beautifully presented, I wouldn't have the same expectations. But it is, so I do. This was a weak experience but the restaurant has potential. I would try again.

I would give no stars but I'm not a mean person. We were put in a small booth where there was not enough room for a person to fit between the table and the seat. When we asked to be moved we were refused. There were empty tables throughout our meal. We had to ask for menus and water. Service was extremely slow and our waiter was very unfriendly. The melon and prosciutto appetizer was embarrassing. The pieces were so small it looked like someone's leftovers. I could barely cut my pork chop, never mind chew it. Yes, we were there for the Eagles but when the food is not good there is no excuse.

I chose Cosmopolitan for a ladies' lunch after visiting their happy hour several times. The lunch was a smashing success. From the time I booked the reservation with Greer to the final delivery of our cars (by Greer, again!!!...do you ever sleep???), it was a perfect day for a group of ladies. Service was great...we were there for a very long time chatting and enjoying the company; we were never rushed! Food was incredible, allot of food for your money. The atmosphere very chic! I would highly recommend this place for happy hour and for an event where you want to sit and savor the food and company! Thank you, Cosmopolitan!

Wonderful place for lunch! Great service and free valet parking! The shaved ribeye sandwich is incredible. We went there for our son'a first birthday and it was awesome. He had the Mac and cheese which was amazing but the staff made it extra special. After dinner he was served with a scoop of ice cream with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate syrup! So much fun!

Had dinner here during Restaurant Week with the hubs. Easy to make a reservation with OpenTable...free valet...$30pp...definitely a great way to try a new local place! Valet was quick & easy. Within a few seconds, we were at the hostess stand and then off to our table. They weren't that busy, but ended up being stuck at what must have been one of the worst tables in the place. Right on the front corner of the first floor, so we got all of the traffic. Not a huge deal since it wasn't super busy, but when you have plenty of empty tables, why do you seat people at not so great tables? I'll request a table on the second floor the next time we visit. Carlos took pretty good care of us during our visit. There were a few issues, but I think they were more kitchen issues than our waiter (I wasn't half finished with my starter before my entree was plopped down...served the wrong entree, etc). Carlos kept our water full and managed to keep an eye on us without being intrusive. I felt that he was close enough to ask if I needed something but didn't feel bothered. Perfect. Food & drink ranged from awesome to just okay. I ordered the blood orange martini, one of their specialties, and it was just okay. Not very orangy and felt a little flat. But the hubs Chardonnay was very good. Black bean soup was awesome...green salad (spiced nuts, gorgonzola) was average. Both of our entrees (salmon & chicken) were so so, but the pork loin that I was accidentally served was AWESOME! Wish I wouldn't have said something and kept it :) Both desserts were fantastic...the key limi semifreddo was very traditional, while my strawberry dessert was a little more creative (fresh strawberries served w/a dish of balsamic chocolate, a cup of white chocolate milk & a few pound cake "cookies." Made a trip to the ladies' room while Carlos was getting our bill...I much preferred the look & feel of upstairs (plus the bathrooms are pretty flush). The Indian jazz fusion was at a good level and kept things upbeat. Two restaurant week prix fixe plus two drinks and tax was a bit over $80 + tip. I felt it was more than fair for what we received. I wasn't blown over impressed, but we'll definitely give it another shot (even if it's just for drinks & appetizers at the bar...the appetizer menu looked very good).

Beautiful restaurant, gracious staff, and fantastic food. The scallops with three potato hash and house made chorizo sauced with paella broth were yummy. Hubs had duck breast and is still sighing contentedly an hour later. Yum. We like Grille 3501 and Bolete, but this may be our new favorite.

This restaurant had a great atmosphere and that's about the only reason why they received three stars. When we were seated for lunch I only noticed two people in the whole restaraunt. It took ten minutes just for the waiter to come take our drink orders. It took another ten to bring the drinks. We waited for about forty minutes for the food to arrive. The waiter had no idea who's food they were delivering. Overall I was not overly impressed with this restaurant.

I was pleased with the valet service and friendly hostess. Our table thoroughly enjoyed the baby beet salad, duck and filet entrees. The scallops were good but could have been more flavorful. The Hess's strawberry pie needed ripe strawberries. The service was prompt and professional and overall we had a pleasant evening and a good dinner, but at $140 .00 per couple, (2 salads,2 entrees, 2 drinks and a shared dessert), I'm not sure we'll go back.

This is a beautiful restaurant in downtown Allentown. They provide valet parking which I did not take advantage of since I was here for lunch, but def would at dinner time. I was here on a Tuesday for Sal's Spaghetti House offerings. The lunch size for $9.95 was listed as "small," however, I had to take half of this generous portion home. The pasta was not overcooked, the sauce was good - not sweet. You can order meatballs or sausage for an extra $2 and the meatballs were very good. Salad and garlic bread were included. All in all, a really good value and great meal. Seemed to be an older crowd here so not sure if that is typical or just at lunch. Restaurant was very clean - bathrooms were impeccable. Service was excellent. I'd like to come back to try out the dinner menu.

We are here twice. First time wasn't bad. We both had seafood dinners and they were good, not excellent but not bad. We decided to try it again a second time, big mistake. Our waiter said the steak was the best the in lehigh valley so of course my husband had to try it. As soon as we saw it we thought it was a joke. The steak literally looked like a steak you get at a diner with eggs. It was horrible. My dinner was very bland too. It's too bad because the place is gorgeous and they have free valet

We celebrated graduation at this restaurant. It was a beautiful and elegant setting. The food was fabulous albeit pricey but definitely worthwhile. Service was what one would expect in a higher end establishment...it did not disappoint. All of us, and we were a large party, enjoyed our meal. I would especially recommend the strawberry pie...enough for many to share!

Heard that they're closing the rooftop Skybar, which is the only reason people under 60 would be caught dead here. Hope this is an unfounded rumor.

we arrived a little after 6 for a 6:15 reservation. it was the night of the eagles concert. all of allentown was bustling with excitement over the opening night of PPL center. stood by hostess station for ten minutes upstairs before some guy told the hostess she could have seated us at an emply table. waited 20 minutes before I went back to the hostess and told her no waitstaff had been to our table. this was the beginning of one apology after for the entire evening. 10 minutes later a waitress came over and told us no one knew who should wait on us. she decided on her own to wait on us. ordered drinks. that took 15 to 20 minutes to come. one hour after sitting we finally received some bread after pleading with our waitress to bring us something to nibble on while we were waiting. one person at our table never received silverware or water until it was pointed out to a bus person. appetizers took forever to arrive. by this time it was approaching concert time. my friends appetizer had a bone in it, the cheese on my french onion was burnt. we pleaded with our waitress to please bring our entrees with the appetizers so we could get finished and make the concert . that never happened. in the meantime, people all around us were leaving without getting their food. entrees finally arrived fifteen minutes before concert. my wife's shrimp were not cooked near enough. our friends duck was literally raw. up until this point management was non-existent. we were informed this happens on major holidays as well by a member of the waitstaff.. my advice for anyone thinking of going there on a major holiday or pre-concert is to avoid the cosmopolitan unless it is only for their overpriced drinks. even then you will wait for a very long time. i genuinely thought with the premiere of the new concert and hockey arena, this place would be geared up to put on a show to impress everyone there. boy, was I wrong. terrible experience!!!!

I was invited here for dinner with co-workers. Very nice atmosphere-Beautiful Design. Ordered the cheese platter and a few other apps, salad, and Filet Mignon for dinner. Very nice. and nice staff- Doorman is polite, bartender is friendly and waiter was respectful and prompt. It is never really busy in there (I wonder if it's due to the high prices? or location?), I have never seen it have more than a few tables filled. The restaurant is located in a "not-so-safe" area in Allentown. They have a valet available at the door. I parked along the busy street at a meter (which you don't have to pay for after 6pm) and never had a problem. Overall-no complaints I will have to check it out for their rooftop nights

Where do I begin, I researched this place for new years eve, even took a short walk through with the General manager before purchasing advance tickets to the club party hosted from 10-2 am for new years eve. Made reservations for 8pm. We had a party of 4 which was seated promptly which is what my expectation would be for a place like this, but this is where everything turned to garbage. Our server barely welcomed us to the restaurant basically walked up and asked what we wanted to drink. When she finally returned 10 mins later with our drinks she only had 2 of the four ordered. Both drinks were cosmopolitans which she screwed up by pouring the wrong Cosmo over the wrong garnish, and promptly dropped the "F" bomb 3 times and offered to give us new garnishes, which never came. We ordered 4 appetizers which came out in waves of 1 or 2 dishes at a time by 2 different people and were auctioned off at the table. For dinner we ordered the sea bass which was over cooked and cold because it either sat in the chefs window for far to long or sat on the elevator for an extended time before being brought to the table, my pork-chop was over cooked, was supposed to be med rare, came med well to well and cold and dry. our friends ordered a peppercorn Fettuccine which tasted like it was microwaved from a can of dinty-moore, We sent both sea bass and the pork back, to be reheated, which they made new and replaced the slop in noodles with bacon wrapped scallops. When the waitress returned with my dinner and the sea bass no manager even came to the table to ask if there was anything he could do for us. we weren't looking for a free meal but maybe a dessert or at least a drink for the women at the table who had nothing. the waitress appeared about 15 mins later to ask if any dessert would be ordered and when we answered no, she promptly left the table and dropped the check. still no scallops were brought out. My wife finally walked downstairs to the host stand and spoke the general manager who was not even aware that there was a problem. He returned to our table with my wife and we spoke to him for about 10 mins about how our evening went and decided to comp our entire meal. Even after all that we stayed for the new years bash in the club on the 4th floor. Bartenders were good at making drinks but the music was way to loud and the DJ just threw music out, people were over served stumbling around being obnoxious spilling drinks on other people or the floor. Absolutely the worst experience we have ever had. we left by 1am. my wife and our 2 friends all work in the restaurant business one of which is a chef himself. We will not be returning to the cosmopolitan again.

I went here for dinner with a party of about 12 or so people. I was particularly shocked at how nice the place was inside with the decor and overall design. Being that it's in Allentown a swanky place like this was definitely not expected. We were sat pretty promptly, but then it took the wait staff an unusually long time to come back and get our drink orders. The bread the served was pretty good, not excellent but I was not disappointed. I ordered the filet carpaccio appetizer and the duck breast entree. The filet carpaccio was good but not great, I was slightly disappointed with the amount of actual carpaccio given. My friend ordered the sesame crusted tube app which looked delicious. I in hindsight wish I would have ordered as opposed to the carpaccio. Moving on to the entree, the duck was excellent. I would have given this place 3 stars if not for how good the duck was. I ordered med-rare and it was cooked perfectly with just enough seasoning. I would highly recommend the duck if you enjoy duck. One of the best duck breasts I've had in a long, long time.

Went last night with friends -4 of us in total. This place is gorgeous-I couldn't believe how empty it was. Maybe because its a holiday weekend? We had a drink at the bar-bartender very nice-and headed upstairs to our table. There were only two other tables occupied in the entire place. We had meat and cheese appetizer which was great and plentiful. Had the lobster salad which was good but a bit blah. Two of us had the filet which was excellent, one had the pork and one had the duck which both said were excellent. We also had two bottles of wine and some cocktails. For desert we shared carrot cake. The service was a bit slow but honestly, I prefer it that way-so this may have been intentional so you can breath a bit between courses. It is pricey so its not like I can hang out there every weekend. But it is a nice special occasion place. Also, the Valet was quick and easy-and he was extremely nice and really promoted the restaurant!

Restaurant week in Allentown is a good time to enjoy fine restaurants for a fixed fare. We choose the Cosmopolitan and had an excellant meal. The service was outstanding, our waiter Carlos kept the water and wine glasses full. Very good wine selection and full bottles are half price on Thursdays. My wife had the salmon and I had the pork tenderlion. The meal started with a mixed green salad that had candied walnuts with bits of figs and a flavorful dressing which was both sweet and spicy. The main courses were both beautifully presented, the salmon had a to die for mustard sauce with a roasted garlic perogie and savoy cabbage. My pork tenderloin came with peruvian potatoes and mustard greens, the sauce on the pork was out of this world. Our last course was a Pot de creme which was unbelivably good. The whole meal was 4 star. The two meals with a bottle of wine and double expresso ran $100.00. The only thing that took away from the whole experience was the cold air from a over powered ventilation system.
