This place was ok! Exactly what we needed after a long day. Service was quick and friendly; food was decent and filling. We ordered the crab rangoons, hot and sour soup, spring roll, and rock shrimp and avocado roll to start. Hot and sour soup was probably my favorite but I wouldn't say anything was a must have. For our entrees we got: garlic chicken, teriyaki chicken, general tsos chicken, and a fried fish dish. Nothing out of the norm for a standard Japanese/Chinese restaurant. When we were leaving though I saw someone had ordered the dragon boat sushi and I had some serious envy. It was literally a boat made to look like a dragon filled with all different kinds of sushi! I'll definitely have to stop in next time and get that. The quick and friendly service definitely boosted their overall review! Definitely a great run-of-the-mill Asian cuisine option in the Lehigh Valley!

Great veggie sushi options and very creative options too. Home made dumplings were very fresh. 2 soups, dumplings and 4 rolls only $36

Last weekend my husband and I stopped in to have sushi. When we arrived, we waited about 15-20 mins for a table. The place is small and was busy since it was a weekend. When we were seated I felt a little cramped. We decided that we'd prefer takeout from a place like this. The prices are high enough that you'd expect a nicer dining area. Service also left something to be desired here. Our waters were kept full, but the rest of the service was poor. For food, my husband ordered a sushi combo and I ordered a few things to get a taste. I had seaweed salad and two rolls. The salad was larger than expected and the rolls were average. The taste of everything was just average as well. We felt that with the prices, that we would prefer a nicer restaurant with better service. I'm not sure if we would go back.

It was my first time here and it was OK. Nothing spectacular. The service was average and was the environment. The overall quality of the food was good. Not much else to say because the place was just very average.
(3)Jessica S.
I've been to Bamboo a few times now. The food is always delicious, and the portions are generally big enough that I bring home leftovers. The prices are reasonable. They have lunch specials that are very reasonably priced.
(4)Kelli R.
Met a friend here for lunch. I had a lunch special chicken and broccoli with fried rice entree which came with an egg roll. Food was really fresh and delicious. Restaurant was exceptionally clean. Manager ensures staff is very attentive. Prices can't be beat and portions are large. This is a great lunch spot! I'll be back!

Food is ok. Had veggie dumplings, scrimp fried rice, and Thai scrimp. If you are big on service (like I am), you can forget it. You get no smiles. My family and I felt like we were bothering our waitress. Not sure if we will return.
(2)Henry S.
The food is decent but the servers ruin it. Every time I go there, the girls do something to ruin my dinner. One time, I ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer but it seemed weird when she brought out 3 bowls of rice for 2 people. When I got the bill, I found out she put me in for a tempura entree. Common sense should've told her 2 people aren't eating 3 entrees. Besides, I said "appetizer" when I ordered and she confirmed it. Another time I was drinking sprite and the girl walked by with a pitcher and poured water into my soda. My family laughed but I was like, "wtf?" Now I never order clear soda when I dine out. I do not like it there but my wife keeps talking me into going there whenever she wants sushi. So I end up there basically after I forget how annoying my last visit was. Tonight I think I was able to convince my wife to never go back again. We all ordered apps and entrees. My wife's soup and my egg roll came out but my son's app didn't come out until I finished my app. Then his entree came, then my wife's. My entree was nowhere to be found so I started eating some of my wife and son's entrees. I asked my wife, "do you think she didn't hear me when I ordered?" She said "no, I saw her write it down." I decided I wasn't going to remind the waitress at this point because my wife and son were finished their dinners. The server cleared the table, boxed my son's leftovers and I asked for the check. Right away I looked for my entree on the bill and sure enough, she tried to charge me for a dinner I never received. So I pointed it out to the server to remove that from my bill since I never got it. Then the server took the bill to the kitchen and another server followed her out with my entree. So I told her "no, it's too late. Everyone else is done at my table." Then she tried to get me to get it to go. Pretty lame. I told my wife not to tip more than $2-$3 but she still tipped normal against my wishes. I think after a blunder like that, they should've boxed up the entree and let me take it for free, but it probably was served to the next person to order it. The one good thing that came out of tonight is that my wife agreed to never make us go there again.

I have been to Bamboo on numerous occasions....it just gets better and better! Beautiful, relaxing interior, excellent service, and the food is incredible! LOVE!!!! I'm looking forward to going back, very soon! Highly recommend!
(5)Katelyn F.
Honestly, it just wasn't anything special. I believe I had some type of vegetable stir frye and wasn't that flavorful. Perhaps I'll try sushi next time.
(3)Jason T.
Best sushi in the Lehigh Valley. Same owner / menu as Liu's. Favorites: wasabi tuna dumpling + dynamite roll
(5)James C.
Excellent food made with fresh ingredients. Good prices, too. It's BYOB, but you only have to go next door to buy a bottle of wine. Comfortable atmosphere. They seem to have a lot of regulars, and there is a good reason why.
(5)Kathie L.
Very busy but very good. Excellent food, fresh and not too sugary. We've eaten Sushi and Asian here and both are strong. Fresh and not the deep fried, covered in sugar that we often get in suburban asian restaurants.
(4)Amina C.
Pretty good sushi! I liked the atmosphere inside. We were all surprised when the waitress rushed over to remove our plates as one of our party was still finishing her last bite of food. It seemed like they were watching and waiting, hoping to rush us out. It was busy and perhaps they wanted to seat another party. But not ten seconds after she cleared the plates, another server dropped the bill on the table. I thought it was pretty shoddy customer service, to be so obvious about rushing us out. I'll go back though- food was great and that matters more to me than other details.
(4)Greg S.
I order a teriyaki bowl and got what would be the equivalent of a sizzling fajita. It was good, plenty of shrimp and chicken. Portions are oversized and the Sushi seems overpriced
(3)S W.
Ambiance isn't great here. It's well-lit, spacious and clean, but it's located in a mini-mall and kind of feels like a diner in some ways. They have a fairly decently-sized special rolls menu - since I love spicy rolls, I tend to order the Dynamite Roll. However, when I do come here, it's usually for lunch - Bamboo's got reasonably-priced sushi, a large selection of maki rolls on their lunch menu, and tend to make rolls that are well-constructed, fresh, and tasty. I'd give it a 3.5, if the option was available...
(3)Garret N.
The food is about as anonymously pan-asian as you can get but very serviceable. The wait staff is pleasant and gets the job done. The bottom line is that you won't be blown away by the food but you probably won't be disappointed either.
(4)Bill K.
The food and prices seem great- we got soup, two pieces of sashimi and two vegetarian entrees for about $28. It gets pretty busy on Saturday night, so call ahead.
(4)Andrew K.
The sushi was very good, however everything else about our experience was awful. The waitresses barked at us like a pack of rabid dogs. As I sat there like a scared bunny, the waitress stood over us and shouted at us to order faster. After each roll I ordered, she loudly and sarcastically repeated it while looking around the restaurant as if to humiliate me in front of her coworkers. As soon as the last word of my order slipped out of my mouth, she screamed, "NEXT" and repeated the process with the next person. To cap it off, as we were waiting for our dessert, the manager approached our table with a confused but stern look on his face. He awkwardly glanced over at my gift certificate that I had sitting on the table and said, "I just need to see something". After a lengthy and unwarranted inspection, he finally explained that he was checking to make sure we hadn't stolen a black gift certificate. Apparently, our waitress had told him that she thought the gift certificate was blank. After their suspicion had faded, they brought out our "mochi mochi red bean" on steaming hot plates that quickly melted away our ice cream, leaving us with $7 puddles of disappointment. In conclusion, yes the sushi was delicious, albeit a little overpriced, but no paying customer deserves to be so brutally mistreated by the wait staff, never mind humiliated by a false accusation from the manager.
(2)Megan W.
This place is okay...I had the rainbow roll, and it was pretty good. The salmon wasn't as buttery as I've had in other places, but it was still tasty nonetheless. They're getting two stars because their service left a lot to be desired. I had to ask for soy sauce, a glass of water and a plate for my sushi. I know it was just me and I wasn't going to be their biggest table of the night, but it seemed like I had to seek out people for everything, and I can't stand that. I think that if I go back with more people and the wait staff starts seeing dollar signs, I may get better service. Oh well.
(2)Kathy R.
My son and I sat at the sushi bar and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was delicious. I had shrimp pad Thai which was excellent. My son had two sushi dishes and enjoyed them both. The part of the evening which was unique to me was watching the sushi chefs create. I can cook and bake but their dishes were exquisite! Lots of fun
(4)Elaine K.
Very good Asian food, tasty & very fresh. I've been there a few times & never disappointed.
(4)Josh H.
Bamboo is a nice little Asian restaurant that specializes in Chinese, Japanese, and Thai. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. My original plan was to get sushi but I felt that their sushi was overpriced. I ended up getting one of their specials (Seafood Deluxe) and felt that was a much better choice in relation to price.
(4)Amy S.
Love this place!! Best spicy scallop roll special and the amazing tuna roll... Wow! This place is a great BYOB!
(5)Kevin R.
Average, Middle of the road Chinese food. Decent. Palatable. Nothing too fancy. Average service. May or may not return. No alcohol served... BYOB only. Oh no thank you. I want a cocktail with my meal, damnit! Lol
(3)Chelsea D.
Bamboo is always amazing from the friendly staff to the quick service and AMAZING sushi and avocado salad haha-(seriously if you like avocados give it a try! Even though my fiancé and I have moved away- sometimes when we feel like going on a little adventure or if we are in the area we make it a point to stop in!
(5)Jen S.
I came here one night when visiting friends in Allentown who RAVE about this place, but I just wasn't impressed. The food was pretty good, but our server was not very polite or attentive. Prices here are decent and there is plenty of seating so I am sure there is never a wait. The fact that it is a BYOB located just steps from a liquor store might be the only reasons I will be back.
(3)Laura M.
The in restaurant service is normally really good. The place can get very crowded at prime dinner hours. Prices are good. I would say best Chinese in the area. Take out can be a little questionable at times.
(4)Maureen G.
Absolutely great food but indifferent service makes this a 3. We went to Bamboo and were ignored by the manager/owner when he finally acknowledged us if we wanted to sit at the sushi bar. We said no we preferred to wait for a table and could clearly see that there were several available. He told us that there would be a long wait. I don't think he wanted to put a party of two at a booth or table. We said we would wait and sat in the waiting area. All of a sudden he said "there is a table available now" and showed us to the booth that was clearly empty when we arrived. My guess is that he wanted to stow us at the sushi bar to make room for a future group to put in the booth. We did not feel welcomed at all. We will still go to bamboo because the food is so good but the service both by the manager and wait staff is not even second class.
(3)Darcie G.
I went here with a really good friend who is a regular here. She ordered all her favorite rolls for us because she knew I would LOVE IT! The rolls were HUGE and so delicious!
(5)Larry K.
A very good straightforward Asian restaurant that focusses on Sushi and Chinese food. It's convenient location and varied menu make it a frequent takeout choice. It's particularly good when one of us wants sushi and others want Chinese. Competent Chinese and Sushi with good service.
(3)Bonnie L.
I hesitate to put up a great review because selfishly I don't want the restaurant to become too popular. Having said that, this sushi is as good as it gets., and I have had sushi from Israel to NYC to Portland Oregon to Bonaire. The sushi chefs will prepare whatever you like and they do it with pride. Put tips in their tip jar and they will remember you every time you come AND thank you. It is a BYOB, which is not a big deal if you love brining your own wine or champagne, which we do. Sometimes the service can be a little less than perfect but that's to be expected when it is packed and they are busy running tables and helping with takeout. Don't waste your time eating sushi anywhere else in the Lehigh Valley.
(5)Harry P.
This was some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. I was skeptical at first Chinese food in pa, yeah right, but this place proved me wrong. The dumplings, crab Rangoon all homemade and packed with flavor. The best dish was the tropical shrimp, a mayo based sauce that was sweet, layered over gigantic shrimp. Let me say this is not authentic Chinese food, it is American Chinese food, but some f the best I have ever had. I am willing to travel 90 minutes for this food.
(5)Rachel O.
Best Chinese food around. Love the food here. Just wish the service was better. The guy at the front, possibly the manager or the owner, is not very friendly. He seems to have a "clique" of customers he treats very well but everyone else is treated poorly. Even the female staff is very cold and unfriendly. The place is always packed though, so I guess most people don't mind the poor service. The food outweighs the rest.
(4)Sara Z.
This restaurant is one of my favorites. The sushi is always clean and fresh. The entrees from the kitchen are flavorful and on point. I like that I can have great Japanese Chinese and Thai food all at the same place. Bamboo is my favorite Asian restaurant in Allentown.
(5)Josephine P.
Well just wanna say I was appalled today I usually am not the person who comes home and writes the nasty review but today I was very upset after leaving this place.. Let me begin by saying how excited I was to try this place I love Asian cuisine. Well I have a child who has severe sesame and nut allergies and usually we don't frequent these types of places because they usually use sesame oil not vegetable oil, but my child was craving Asian food and well I really wanted to try it.. NEVER AGAIN! Before we ordered we told the waiter please no sesame seeds or sesame oil or nuts it's really important, he kinda brushed it off. And still brings my child a bento box with calif roll draiped in sesame seeds and teriyaki chicken draiped in sesame seeds..I tell him, he corrects the teriyaki chicken brings it back, my son noticed the calif roll also had sesame seeds the owner comes over and instead of correcting the problem as a paying costumer he tells me all Asian restaurants cook in sesame oil and there's really nothing they can do about this it's part of a bento box and my problem not his!!!!!! What kind of business is this first of all teach your waiters proper English so they can communicate with people food allergies are life threatening serious situation that can KILL and not to be taken lightly! As a restaurant owner myself I would never ever make it my costumers problem but our problem and you just showed you don't care about people!!! good luck I'm a foodie and will never eat in your place no matter how fabulous your food may be!!!!!!
(2)Amy H.
I was a regular customer and the sushi is very good here, but the customer service has been horrible lately. The Other Fish in Bethlehem has a much nicer staff and better atmosphere. Will no longer be dining at Bamboo or Lius.
(2)Margaret R.
I had a wonderful time at this place! We ordered and the sushi and appetizers came out fast! Everything looked delicious and I was not disappointed! They should get better chopsticks. Reusable ones perhaps! The sushi was AMAZING! The chefs are the best! They have such a variety to choose from and I would surely come back again!!!
(5)Bill W.
Service and Sushi Cannot review on much else. I've visited a number of times and found that their service was very good. The sushi was even better than their service....... VERY good and fresh!
(4)Anuj S.
I really loved the totally unique veggie sushi at Bamboo. Never had anything like it. The avocado and walnut sushi was awesome. It was like candied walnuts with the avocado making a really unique sweet and savory taste. Really interesting. The other one I had was the eggplant tempura roll, which was also amazing. Again, neither preparations were ones I had in the past. One of my colleagues complained that the service was slow. We were in a rush, but basically the sushi rolls were being made and then they brought them to us. Could have been faster, but I just loved the rolls themselves, so I'm going to bypass that part.
(5)Rebekah G.
At 9:00 at night, we wanted to get Chinese takeout so we decided to get it at some place different than our usual Chinese place. I thought this place actually might go on my favorites list, but alas, it didn't even come close! Let's start off of what we got from Bamboo. : Schezwan Beef Hot and Sour Soup Kung Pao Orange Chicken House Fried Rice Sesame Shrimp After about 30 or so minutes, we got back home with our food and unpacked everything. The dishes came in these white plastic bowl things, and they were a nightmare to open! Finally, we got all the food opened and dug in... The Hot and Sour soup was probably the only thing that was okay. Though still mediocre, the soup had seemed to be packed with pepper- not red pepper, not pepper flakes, but BLACK PEPPER. Now I'm fine if Chinese places put a bit of pepper into their soups but this was ridiculous! The Hot and Sour soup wasn't that much of a let down, but the Schezwan Beef sure was! One look at that and I knew that it was not natural! It had an orange color so strong and bright it looked like someone had poured Fanta orange soda all over it! But, aside from that unappetizing color that thrown me off, I was determined to eat that blob of orange unnatural- ness! So I did. The first thing that I tasted was carrot-lots of it too. There was only around five pieces of meat in that thing that they should've named it "Schezwan Carrot"! But let's not stop there! This thing did not even taste like how normal Schezwan dishes were supposed to taste like... This one was sweet and barely had any flavor aside from that. Next, I reached over to get the Orange Chicken, hoping for something better, because, who can mess up Orange Chicken?? Well, apparently, they can! Now, this dish was marked as "spicy" on their menu, but it had no spice whatsoever and absolutely no flavor at all! It was like biting into a piece of nothing! Well, at least they kept this dish lighter on the vegetables... *cough Schezwan Beef cough cough* After these disappointments, I didn't really get my hopes up to what was coming next. And I'm glad I didn't! The Sesame Shrimp was terrible! The sauce was thin, the breading was slimy and thick, and the shrimp had a weird fishy flavor like it was not fresh at all! This was sad, because I really like Sesame anything but this one was horrible... Then, I got some of the House Fried Rice to try. I have to say, it wasn't all bad, in fact, it was alright! Although, there was very little meat and other stuff than rice in it, plus it lacked in some flavor that it was missing. Lastly, I got the Kung Pao. It looked pretty good, there was big pieces of meat in it, but, looks can be deceiving. It was not spicy like it was supposed to be, and there was more vegetables than meat yet again. Overall, I would not purposely ever go here again, and I would advise you to do the same. You're better off eating at some Chinese food place in a mall food court than this... Which is pretty sad.
(2)Cyn D.
I was inclined to try this place since we love sushi and are always looking for new and great places. Unfortunately due to the horrible service received by the manager/ owner we ended up simply walking out. He threw our menus on the table and walked away. We told the server we were leaving because he was simply very rude. She didn't apologize, just stated "that's how he is." If you're working in a customer service industry I suggest you find a way to make your customers feel welcomed! Trust me you're not the only sushi business in the area and I would rather spend my money elsewhere!
(1)Kathleen K.
Had lunch there on saturday. Very few customers, which sometimes can be unsettling, however, it was only around 11ish, so early for lunch. We waited for at least 5-10 minutes until any staff member came out to seat us, we were actually getting ready to leave. I am so glad we stayed. I had the chicken pad thai, which was excellent. My fiancee had red curry chicken and he loved it, the vegetables were fresh. Overall very good and prices for lunch were great too. We will definitely be back.
(4)Pat R.
i'm so happy about finding this lil gem so close to home. friendly and attentive staff, portions are huge (seriously, the fish-to-sushi rice ratio is great), and reasonably priced. the tuna tartar with avocados and a raw quail egg on top is to die for. uni is only available only on fridays (until supply lasts) though. nevertheless, this is still my favorite sushi place in the lehigh valley. bonus: it's byob. perfect for date night!
(5)Todd B.
I've lived in LA and NYC, and I know good Asian fusion and sushi. This restaurant could compete with any I've experienced in those cities, and at a much more reasonable price. The service could be improved -- the server took over 10 minutes to get to our table once we were seated, and there were patches of time where we had to wait or even hunt down a server. But the food -- amazing. We began with the dumplings, which were quite good but pretty average. We then split the Caterpillar Roll, a generous role with shrimp tempura, crab, avocado and jalapeno. I could have eaten two it was so good. And while I didn't get it, I have heard great things about the BMW Roll (disclosure: I drive a BMW). We chose the Chili Beef for our entree, and we were so glad. The dish is beautiful, with sauteed green and red chili peppers combined with spicy beef. But make no mistake: This is a spicy dish, so be ready! Kudos Andy the owner and this great restaurant for a memorable experience in the Lehigh Valley.
(5)Bill S.
Had the Lobster roll tonight. Not only was it delicious, the presentation was excellent. We keep coming back to Bamboo because the food is consistently good. Andy the owner is a great host and always makes us feel welcome.
(5)Mary K.
I came to bamboo with high hopes as I had heard good things from colleagues. Boy was I mistaken. The food was very overpriced. At least 20% over what prices should be. This was the least of the issue. Our server was demeaning to our entire party. When ordering we were rushed and spoken to in a manner that was less than respectful. When ordering spicy mayo, we were scolded, and told that it would be an additional charge of $1.00. Which was not a problem if we were given more than a mere dollop. The food was midocre at best and crawling with MSG. My thrills of dining were crushed that night. Hope this doesn't happen to you!
(2)Niral P.
the food is good but the service is very poor. the waiters are not very polite and sometimes outright rude. I prefer takeout from this place so I don't have to deal with their pathetic service.
(3)Diane S.
Will never return. Sushi was very overpriced for lunch, and fish was not served at proper temperature. Very tasteless Servers were rude. Avocado was hard as a rock and when I complained to the manager, he got loud with me and his reply was " then don't come back" That's easy. Will go to Hana in Nazareth or 1/3 sushi in Bethlehem
(1)Carly C.
This review is really based on the sushi/japanese food more than Chinese food. My husband and I love this place, and its the best sushi we can get in the Lehigh Valley. Fresh fish, creative rolls, good prices, the plates are always artistically presented, and they're consistently awesome. The staff might not always be incredibly warm, but they are very efficient and fast. Plus, the owner guy who loves BMW is always smiling and kind, and he seems to know everyone that comes in. It's always reassuring to see an owner interacting with the customers because it shows how much they care. We've tried other sushi places in the area, but we always end up wishing we went to Bamboo instead! Definitely the place to get your sushi fix.
(5)Erika B.
Underrated. This could get bumped up to a five but I need to try one or two more dishes before I do. It is definitely a gem. The sushi rolls that I have had from here have been fresh, creative, voluptuous and just overall really great. The thai peanut curry was also great. The mild sauce with a hint of coconut was perfectly prepared with some very well flavored peanuts that were captured in each bite. I intend to take out from here regularly when I am in the area for business.
(4)Sean R.
Update 2-12-14: Not a good experience. Waitress was rude and portion was way to small. Hope its a one time thing. Just took 1 star away. :-( Don't let the fact that It's in a strip mall fool you. This place has bangin food. It has an excellent variety of chinese, Japanese, and even Thai. I had the chicken pad Thai and it was incredible. The atmosphere is small and cozy. I would rate this has one of the better asian/Japanese places in the valley. Oh and they have a ton of sushi!
(4)Roger M.
The sushi is very good. This place and lius on tilghman are both quality places. They offer Chinese dishes too, but the sushi is why I come back. Seriously, I'd rather eat here than that place down at the Promenade shops, it's much more reasonable price wise.
(4)Alex L.
When I'm in Allentown, this is my sushi spot of choice. Prices are fair and the food quality is there. I especially like the Florida Mango Specialty roll. Big roll and has a strong sweet and spicy taste to it. I order the avocado salad often too. Fresh ingredients. The staff here is efficient and they are friendly. This place is BYOB. Good food for a good price.
(4)Jennie T.
Got take out for our hungry family on a Tuesday night. Pad Thai for Dad, Chashew chicken for the kids, sushi for a treat. All the food was good and fresh and flavorful. sushi was very fresh (yeah). Will be going again.
(4)Amy C.
Probably my favorite Asian restaurant in the area. The grilled shrimp salad is amazing! The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 is because I feel like they rush service a little bit. We usually go to their other location, Liu's, because the wait staff is a little more relaxed there...
(4)Karen E.
I'm on the fence about this place because whole the food is good the service is horrible. The waitresses don't smile and are rude. My last visit it was an inconvenience to get extra ice and the waitress was abrupt. Rice was brought to both my boyfriend and I but I knew my meal didn't come with rice but I didn't say anything at first. A few minutes later when the waitress brought our food she proceeded to take my rice away. Excuse but how did she know I didn't eat any of the rice and they can't spare the few cents to just give me the plain white rice? I asked for a container for my left overs and the waitress took my food to box it up herself. There's no way all of my leftovers fit in the tiny take out container so what did they do with the rest of my food? I had the chicken pad tai which was good and my boyfriend had some kind of chicken dish. The chicken dumplings were great. On the plus side it's BYO which is nice.
(3)Kristen W.
This is one of my in-laws' favorite restaurants in the valley and we usually go once when we're in town to visit. The hot chili beef is the favorite dish in our family, however my MIL has had it so often and notices when different chefs make it. Sometimes it burns your face off, sometimes it has the perfect amount of heat. Inconsistency aside, the flavors are great and it's always ordered by at least one person at our table. Everything else I've tried has been very good. I haven't ventured into the specialty sushi rolls, but the simple rolls (spicy tuna, etc.) have been great. Service is always friendly (but again, the in-laws are pretty much regulars), and the atmosphere is pleasant. Great restaurant in the valley.
(4)Bill S.
Lunch here yesterday. We eat here often. We bring both friends and business guests. It never disappoints. The food is always excellent. We've learned a few great items that aren't on the menu which are terrific that the owner Andy, or Sushi Chef Sam have suggested, or made for us. Treat yourself and ask to try a Lauren Roll. For something really special, have the a Lobster Roll, (not always available). The Daniels BMW roll is consistently a winning recommendation for our guests. Andy says it is one of the top selling items on the menu. Do you like cold green tea? Try the Jasmine Green Tea in the cooler. It's not sweet, but the Jasmine takes the typical slightly bitter edge off the green tea, and makes it addictively drinkable. Remember, it's BYOB so treat yourself to your favorite beverage. The wine and spirit store is a conveniently a few doors down. If you are a repeat customer, and a fair tipper, you might even find a gratis offer of wine or Saki from the owner. If you are going on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared to wait for seating. It gets busy.
(5)Amanda L.
Disgusting . Who the hell wants hotdog flavored meat for kobe beef prices ? Uhh . Not me . Asked them for them to take it back and give me something else or refund my money for the dish after taking ONE bite and they told me it wasn't their fault I didn't order something I liked . Brilliant !
(1)Trey O.
I'm a rookie when it comes sushi. My wife first introduced it to me in 2009 at a joint in NYC. I then expanded my experiences on a trip to San Francisco, so needless to say I was spoiled. For our wee nook in the world landscape, Bamboo is top notch. They could play traditional Asian music instead of lame local radio, but that's really my only complaint. 'Sake' to me baby!
(4)Cyndi B.
Went for dinner last night! The food was awesome! Definitely going back for more!

I went there with some friends who wanted to try this place out since it was owned by the same people who own Liu's, which they love. Since I wasn't too impressed by Liu's, I wasn't expecting much from this place. I ordered the Tom Yum shrimp soup which wasn't as delicious as those made at true Thai restaurants. And I had eel sushi which was slimier than that I normally eat at true Japanese restaurants. Also, when my salad was brought out, the bowl was hot! Not warm or room temperature, but HOT. I had to eat my salad quickly before the heat from the ceramic bowl made the leaves wilt. And BTW, the restaurant itself was stiflingly hot! It is the middle of winter with single digit temperatures which means that guests will be wearing sweaters, long sleeved shirts and possibly turtlenecks underneath heavy winter coats. For some reason, the temperature inside the restaurant was balmy like that of a tropical island and I had difficulty eating my Tom Yum soup without breaking into a sweat after each spoonful. The one thing I did like about this restaurant were the bathroom doors. They had full size etchings of Japanese characters and the bathrooms themselves (single person use, BTW), were very clean and modern.

Hands down the best pan-Asian food I've ever eaten in the Lehigh Valley. I was in town visiting family for the holidays and was lucky enough to eat here. My mother and brother dine here at least once a week and are known well by the super friendly owner. Try the Sashimi Dumpling of a tuna wrapper filled with crab and all kinds of great stuff topped with caviar floating on a wasabi sauce. Sushi Pizza is amazing too, and don't go home without trying the Eel Box. Like I said this place is pan Asian so they have amazing Thai and Chinese food too like Basil Fried Rice and Beef Chow Fun (Thick rice noodle). No liquor license so it's BYOB and no corkage. Can't beat that. Don't know what the haters were complaining about; it's better than anything I've had in Los Angeles (for real)!!

Let's be real ! I've read a lot of the reviews, and many are off base ! This is a great place, lot's of diversity of offered foods, all have been excellent ! The owner is very personable, and the staff has been accomodating on all of my visits. I would suggest that an open mind be kept when trying many of the dishes, they are all very creative !!!

I couldn't disagree more with S.W.'s review. I always comment that the ambience here is more attractive than any other Asian restaurant in the Valley and beyond. It's modern, attractive and the owner and staff are friendly and eager to please. There is another popular restaurant in this same "mini-mall"...to me the fact that there's lots of parking is another plus. Love the variety of the panAsian menu...everything I've had is delicious - especially love the Tai chicken lettuce wraps!

I have a feeling the bad experience was because it was late at night, but that's still no excuse. We went tonight around 9:45, they officially close at 10:30 and there were still at least 20 people in the place. Even before 10:00 it seemed like 1/2 the staff was at a large table all eating, not sure who was cooking and I definitely know there was no one taking our order right away. At about 10:00 everyone started cleaning up, very annoying when restaurants do this, at least have enough respect for your customers to not be mopping the floor next to them while they are eating. They didn't offer us any water, forgot to bring our hot tea and then charged us for it and also charged us for a bowl of rice with our sashimi. The place is definitely not bad but they have a lot to learn about customer service... there are SOOOO many better sushi places to go to with better service, just as good or better food and better prices. We won't be going back.

This was only the second time I've had food from bamboo. I've dined in once and felt very rushed. The food was good so I just decided to do takeout. I had take out today and my order was slightly messed up. Food is ok but there are better options in the area. I won't be returning.

The owner of Liu's House has opened a second restaurant. Huzzah! I'm normally skeptical of Asian restaurants that try to do more than one Asian cuisine, but I think this Chinese-Japanese-Thai combo place is a little bit of alright, and certainly a ton better than the other Chinese and non-existent-sushi joints in the area. The sushi is quite good at Bamboo, and the gyoza were decent. I haven't had a lot of the Chinese, but the house lo mein was tasty. Bamboo seems to have more in the way of Thai than Liu's House does. The green curry is good, the pad thai just so-so. (My verdict: bland.) I'm a fan of meats both real and fake, so I was happy to see the vegetarian general tso's chicken, although the oil must not have been hot enough, as the breading was soggy. Flavor good though, and I applaud them for having it on the menu in the first place. There's also a nice selection of vegetarian sushi. Peanut avocado rolls are delicious. The decor of Bamboo is as inoffensive and non-descript as it is at Liu's. It's generic beige tones will not bother you, although there's no real style here either. Maybe in time Mr. Liu can work on adding some pizazz.

Same owner's as Liu's and sushi is just as good (see my Liu's review for more details.) I think this location is better due to it's larger size. Liu's feels way too small. Great sushi in the Valley, excellent quality fish and fair prices. Fast friendly service.

Honestly, not what I expected from an Allentown sushi restaurant. They had an extensive selection of rolls and unique presentation. . . I was pleasantly surprised! I shared a couple of specialty rolls and sushi with my family and we were all very satisfied with the flavors as well as the portions. The Cajun specialty roll was excellent (if you can take the heat!) Also, do not miss the tuna dumplings as an appetizer, very tasty and filling. Will go back again next time I visit!

So glad To have decent Chinese / Japanese on this side of town!! I love the sushi rolls and the typical Chinese dishes. The house salad with Ginger dressing is fantastic! I love to grab take out for lunch! Fast, good and reliable! Two thumbs up! They lose one star, for the steamed pork dumplings. Not a fan of those. But they do have good shrimp eggrolls! Yummo!

Although food was fantastic, our waitress sucked!! Not only it took her 5 minutes to take our drink order, she did not come back to take our order for another 10 minutes. Food took forever to come out (15-20minutes for 3 rolls). Also the manager took our food while we were still finishing up! Probably never go back there again...

Absolutely Horrible Service...Arrogant host.

Very good! I have only eaten here once, and the sushi was great, but what really sold me was the atmosphere. It's warm and personal. My only complaint is that my waitress had some trouble understanding my order and I ended up getting an extra roll. But overall the food and the atmosphere make this a staple sushi restaurant in my book!

Not bad for the Valley... The rolls are great and the lettuce cups are fantastic! Priced well with quick service. It's BYO so bring a bottle if you want one. They do have house sake to share - just ask.
