I come to the Pittsburgh area twice a year and always eat here. Delicious brisket and pulled pork and five sauces to choose from including North Carolina, Kansas City and Southern Twang styles. Portions are good. Big sports bar downstairs

Love this place. Service is great.. food is great.. try the different sauces.. Damn Tasty is our favorite! So much so that we keep a bottle at the house!

We ordered steak and chicken salads for take out. They were delicious and the fries they use are seasoned and were still hot and fresh (not soggy) even when I got them home. Also, I got the large size which was so large that I had some left over for lunch the next day. Only drawback was the cost, $48 for three take home salads. I thought that was expensive. But they were delicious.

The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff was extremely nice. I had the Pittsburgh Pork and it was okay. Besides the tomato and cole slaw I think my pork was also a tad cold, like it was waiting on my fries to cook. I enjoyed it other than that. I enjoyed the BBQ choices, southern twang was my favorite.

Note: PJ's no longer offers some of the items from my previous review, including the potato salad, fried oysters, and pulled pork nachos. Why? I don't know, because they were all superb. With that sad news bit out of the way, I can still soberly state that PJ's peddles rather excellent barbeque, their sugary, succulent Baby Back Ribs telling no lies with their smoky essence, scrumptious bark, and sticky sauce. Every bone slid out effortlessly. Every morsel almost needed no chewing. I went with a baked potato for my first side dish and found it to be amply prepared, its insides steamy and fluffy as per protocol. The second was a creamy cole slaw that did not lack in flavorful zing or soggy crunch. The onion rings were a cornmeal-breaded doozy that a fancier restaurant might pile artfully atop filet mignon. Recalling Outback's Bloomin' Onion, the appetizer came with a spicy ranch dipping sauce that coated each flaky golden hoop with milky, teasingly pungent, flamingo-colored glory. Praise be to the gods, PJ's still has the Peanut Butter Pie, and it is every ounce the salty, devilishly rich triangle of foodlust you'd reckon it to be. The whipped topping (fresh?) topping does little to curb the chocolate fury that laces the entire cut from bottom to top. It is to crave ice cold milk. Some folks keep on sayin' that we haven't got the BBQ chops up in these parts. They ain't been to PJ's yet. P.S. The service was as terrific as it's always been

Disclaimer: this is a story about a hamburger! Today I decided to give theirs a try. It isn't terribly expensive, only running around $8. That price is for a base burger though, no fixings included. Each add-on costs approximately $0.25, so decking out this piece of meat can get a little pricey. After adding my typical lettuce, tomato, raw onion, bacon, and mayo, I sat in anticipation. As I spied my meal coming to the table, I noted that it was a good size, which is what I've come to expect from PJ's. The burger looked like what I ordered and smelled like quality! I took a bite, and am happy to say that I was not disappointed! Did I fall in love with it? No. Was it pretty tasty, well made, and worth the price? Absolutely!

I had this on my list to try for a while now. recently I had my birthday and I told my wife I wanted to eat here. I love a good BBQ and I am picky about my BBQ. I ordered the BBQ ribs. The ribs was very moist and fall off the bone. Exactly how I like it. Though I didnt taste any smoke favor. This was a big disappoint for me. But the ribs in general was very good. There had a good varation of BBQ sauces which I very much liked. Since I live about an hour away I would say I wouldnt make a special trip here.. But would eat here again if I was in the area. Now if had a smoky favor to the ribs I proably would make a special trip. The 3 star isnt fair but I dont think a 4 star is worthly so I would rate this 3.5.

Good bbq and sauces! Ribs fall off the bone, nice combos. Wings were fine. Beans are excellent. We will return.

The best BBQ in the area. I get their pulled pork every time but their Ribs and pork combo is awesome too. I enjoy traditional smoky BBQ and this place has that but they also have the Carolina style BBQ as well. A must if you like BBQ. Love love love it!

Stopped before our flight. Pulled pork and bbq sauce was very good but you don't get much and you have to pay extra for a side. The bruschetta isn't bruschetta, it is a bit on the salty side and it doesn't have any fresh ingredients on it like you would expect. The atmosphere is ok. The building doesn't have any windows which struck us as odd. Overall our experience was ok but we will probably try something different before our next flight.

Good menu. Good prices. Good service. Pulled pork was awesome and grilled chicken was cooked perfectly. 5 different sauces to choose from. "damn good" was my favorite. Fried pickles were good, not the best I've ever had but definitely the biggest portion. Can't wait to go back!

Great salads! I've tried the chicken, steak and pulled pork. All were enormous and delicious. The steak/chicken was really grilled (not the reheated type of strips) and the pulled pork was my favorite of the three. Cute mason jar glassware. The place is a little dark inside though.

Had pulled pork sandwich. It was honestly about average. If you told me it was not from a can I would be very skeptical. Nice enough down homey atmosphere and friendly service though.

Amazing ribs and pork! Super friendly staff, too!

Iv been going here for years.. great place.. very friendly staff. Also its one of the few restaurant /bars where you can smoke. (As long as your in the bottom bar which opens after 4pm)

Best smoke house in the area.

PJ's is a great little bbq place that most people drive by but haven't stopped in. I used to go there for lunch when I worked in Beaver County. They have good bbq with a variety of bbq sauce. They serve sandwiches, salads, appetizers, soups, etc . . . Service is quick and you can get in for an hour lunch. Prices are reasonable. The only downfall is that their beer is a little pricey.

Luvin that Memphis Pulled pork an diggin them fries!

If you are in the mood for barbecue, then PJ's is your place. The ribs are tasty and just fall off the bone. The decor is a bit dated, but the service is great. You will leave satisfied with a full belly.

Needed a place at the last minute for a group of 10 and they had no problem taking care of us, Service and food was excellent.

i was pleasantly surprised by both the atmosphere and the food. very homey inside--reminds me of an authentic italian bistro inside sans the red and white checker table"cloths" ASIDE from the hillbilly wall hangings and despite it being a bbq and steak house (but the only steak on the menu that night was a sirloin). our table had the potato skins which were delicious, appeared to be and tasted home made, a very well portioned dinner salad, a sweet potato and the "knock off" primanti's sandwich and fries, which was DELICIOUS. they use cellone's "italian" bread (sorry cellone's you don't compare to breadworks, mancini's or tarquinio's) which is way too dough-y for this type of sandwich so i'd suggested you get it toasted. natural cut fries a little to heavily salted and seemingly not cooked in fresh oil given their texture (slightly soggy) but still positively scrumptious! we also had amazing service at the table from the bartender i wish i could remember her name. would indeed go back again and unfortunately in the beaver county area i am more disappointed by mom and pop shops than i am pleased--but this place is really impressive! GREAT FOOD AND VALUE PRICES WERE VERY REASONABLE BUT THE KITCHEN IS SUPER SLOW AND THE SERVICE IS NOT CONSISTENT! was there again on new years eve we had another server who wasn't the sharpest tool, but still reasonably attentive. 3 of us got ribs $16.99 plus 2 HUGE sides--1 had wings (were WAY overcooked) and 1 had grilled chicken breast which was pretty tasty with no added flavors. 1 LOVED the robs and the 2 of us (who also had chicken) have had better the meat easily peeled off the bone but i wasn't impressed and neither was my aunt--and would not order them again. i asked for a different marinade (i was totally flexible) but was no provided with any options so my ribs were too dry. 1 had the prime rib special and he loved it. 1 had the shrimp stuffed with crabcakes, she said it was ok. the dinner salad are huge and tasty. and the baked potatoes are fluffy and piping hot. no one ate desert this night because you really just get two meals for the price of one and the 3 women needed doggie bags. service was not the same the 2nd time around. our first visit our server was ON THE BALL and the last visit she was just not too sharp (told us they had a bistro steak special but didn't know the meat and said it was bistro meat so we had to redirect her back to the kitchen to find out what the beef cut was; she was also confused when we asked for hand sliced fresh onion for a salad, and had no idea if the bbq sauce could be substituted with any marinade). even if she is new, those types of duhhhh issues are slightly annoying, but at least she was pretty attentive.

Really love this place. So much better than some of the chain restaurants around. Service has always been good. Love the different sauces.
(5)Robert M.
This place is great for lunch! Prices are under $10 but the taste is so much more. The pork is always great and the last time I had the beef and it was just as great! They bring a six pack of sauces to the table so you can find one that's right for you. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
(5)Chuck H.
Food is always good. They offer take out which my wife and I get regularly. Wings are very good. Pulled pork is great. They have several BBQ sauces you should try. Sure to find one you'll like. Portions are large. Only gripe is the parking lot.

Great pulled pork sandwich and potato salad. All the stuff is homemade. Wait staff was real friendly and kept our drinks full. The dining area is a hoot!
