The waitress / bartender was super friendly and jovial, just the kind of person you would hope to be running a cozy pub on the Oregon coast. When we went in at about 4:00 on a Friday to grab some late lunch, we were the only people sitting down (there were 3 others sitting at the bar). Despite this, our food still took nearly half an hour to get to us and our drinks were forgotten about (we had to remind someone on staff that we had ordered them in the first place). The food is okay, very simple. Run-of-the-mill fish and chips, but satisfying.

Loved the relaxed atmosphere. Feels like we are locals and we loved the fish and chips nice and crispy. Fries are soggy and Don't order the bowl chowder unless you want to pay out the nose for it. $9.00 and though it tasted good it had very little clams bacon and potatoes in it. Okay, I have to say after letting them know there was nothing in the chowder they did take it off the bill. That was super awesome

When I first saw the space that is now the Yachats Underground, it was a wine tasting place with soft lighting and real table cloths and fine China. I refused to even go into the joint because I don't belong in those places. The Yachats Underground is a pub, with a mobster motif. The entrees are named after mobsters and the drinks are named after mobsters, and there are pictures of mobsters on the wall. They've painted a safe - like the safe at a Federal Reserve bank - on the wall. There are Tommy Guns hanging from the ceiling. This place calls to me. I'm a low-brow. We ordered drinks and Oysters. We ordered a big artichoke with garlic. The artichoke was good, but oysters and fries, were a bit greasy for my tastes. The service was friendly. The music was jazz. All and all the joint was okay.

Awesome!!!! Probably the best fish and chips I've had. They have a herb based breading for the fish, which allows you to taste the fish without it being some greasy fried mess... Goes great with a pint of Black Butte... Very cool place to eat with a great view of the bay/water. Wait staff very friendly.

Our party of four popped in on St Paddy's day. Everything in Yachats shuts down before 9, even on the weekends, but there were 15 people or so at 930, making it pretty lively. My first impression wasn't fantastic: Smelled of old cigarette smoke and they did not have Ninkasi available, despite the sign in the window. A child of about 8 was at one of the tables, but didn't stay long. We were obviously the only tourists, and it was fun to watch the locals sing karaoke. A 90 year old local veteran gave an unexpected speech praising the owner. He was über charming. We didn't order food (go to Luna Sea or Drift Inn for that), but the beer was cold. The woman who sang "Son of a Preacher Man" blew our socks off. If you can overlook the stale smoke and enjoy an older crowd (average age probably 45), it is certainly ok for a couple of beers and a little elbow rubbing with the townies.

I've been here a couple times when I've stopped in Yachats and I've loved it every time! The people who work here and who come in are the friendly, non-intimidating coasties. The food here is fresh and hits the spot after making the rounds of the Newport bars. They have great burgers, especially a damn good veggie burgers with sweet potato fries. They even have tempeh! Which I thought would be unheard of out on a coast that isn't in California. The owners are so sweet, and even gave my friend a piece of carrot cake on the house when they found out it was his birthday as we were leaving. They also have a nice flat screen so you can watch sports while looking out on a gorgeous sunset over the Pacific.

We read the reviews and were looking forward to some good grub at a local fav... Now I will say, they admitted they are in the midst of changing menus, so the food choices were sparse. Ok- but that wasn't the worst part. We walk in and all that is there is the bartender, the boss, and someone who we assumed is an owner. It took quite a while to get acknowledged and all of the conversation was beyond curt and it was clear we were imposing on team planning time. Fine, if you need team time, lock the doors. We went with fish and chips (the 4 items available were written on a board) and were shocked to find out a plate of 2 pieces of fish and fries was 14 bucks. That is a bit pricy for the location, quality, and service. Other customers came in while we were sitting and they all got the same 'oh you're here so I guess I'll take an order' kind of service. I'm going to be optimistic and hope that they are in a transition and will return to the business that others on this site obviously went to.

Nice atmosphere, went during the day. I had the crab stuffed mushrooms, cup clamp chowder, and a PBR. I Couldn't really taste the crab, the breadcrumbs coating the mushrooms tasted stale. The chowder was yummy with lots of clams, but it cost $6. For a cup! One waitress, one cook on a sunny Saturday afternoon probably wasn't a good idea. Service was slooow.

Karaoke and locals make for a friendly combination for sure. I needed to sing a song, get out some energy. This place has got some huge books full of your favorite dreamy songs. Friend and I did Sonny and Cher's (dating myself) "And the Beat goes on". Needless to say, everyone in there knew that song. Other folks that sang sounded pretty doggone good too. In fact, there was a ringer belting her heart out and doing it majestically, if I may say so. I told her I wanted her autograph in about a year - she was that good. I bet she's on to something great, if she is not secretly famous already. We went here the 2nd evening as well to have a bite. We were greeted by the same local folks, and they were sitting in their designated seats. I got a caesar salad and asked if she could add the cocktail shrimp, and she had no problem working that out for me. We also got some clam chowder and it was comfort type soup. It's bar food. We might have broke some of the locals' hearts though because they asked us if we would be coming back to sing, and we lied, and said yes, knowing we would not show up anymore that night. I got totally intimidated by that famous person as she made my voice sound like a dog yelping in the night, in contrast to her.

We just finished dinner and drinks at The Underground Pub. The burgers were, in our opinion, the best, and the fries perfect. The potato salad was awesome, as were the onion rings, the last time we were here. We would totally recommend this wonderful place to anyone! P.S. The locals there are amazing too!

My Reuben sandwich was excellent! And I'm a "Reuben Aficionado". The corned beef was house-made, succulent, & plentiful. Wanted to try the house- made potato salad but it hadn't been made yet but the slaw was fresh & delicious. Good service & good pricing!

Way friendly Staff and Owner, very real people. Good food. Wine servings are generous. Most customers also talk and have fun with other customers. WIFI is fast, and I have been able to get quiet time in the corner, when I want. Easy parking-limited-more around close corner. Easy to access and find, almost kissing 101.

Tasty fried mushrooms. Dead guy ale was a little warmer than I'm used to but some would say that was the right way to serve it. Attentive service but place was not very busy. Will definitely visit again.

Good food. Good beer selection. My Only qualm is that they serve 13 oz. "pints." In beer-haven Oregon, that is unforgivable.

One of the few places in this resort town that has resonable prices for some good food. It does seem like a local spot, but very very nice staff.

Nice place with great friendly service. Stopped in this past Sunday as we were driving through. Had A burger and onion rings with a nice glass of wine. Very good in fact so good my friend and I want to come back and take our husbands. Still dreaming of the onion rings I think they were the very best I've ever had.

The Underground Pub is solid. It feels like a local hangout (but not exclusive or shady) and has some very friendly staff I've met from other restaurants in town. The location and food is great and it's more intimate than other bars in Yachats. Check it out for something different.

Just got back from their Valentine's Day special - "surf & turf". First description was "ribeye and prawns", which changed to "new york strip and shrimp scampi" once we were there, to a maybe 1/4" slice of prime rib (very tough) and 3 prawns actually given to us. Wife just asked for shrimp scampi, but still got same $25 charge for the meal! And it took so long that the candle at our table actually burned all the way through by the time we were served! Well, any questions we had about the place were certainly answered (it was our first time there). As other reviewers said, maybe a great place for a burger after a night at the bars, but there are a couple of much better places right nearby.

Dropped in because of the burger reviews. It was a Saturday night, and there was live music on the patio, but we ate inside. It wasn't very busy, and while our server was very pleasant, we had a long wait for our meal, upwards of 45 minutes, even though I only had a burger and my wife just had the chowder and a salad. The burger was very good, and so was the chowder. We had the fried mushrooms, and they were ok. All in all, I liked the place, and would come back. Mostly for the live music, burgers, and beers. But would like to see a little speedier service
